2016

Clarice looked strangely at the message that had just arrived on her mobile phone; it could only mean one thing, and perhaps all the peace of mind they had had so far could be interrupted.

Clarice arrived at the place at the appointed time. She had not stopped having that strange feeling; she simply wanted to know what was going on. A few minutes later, out of the shadows, Steve came out.

“What's going on, Cap? “she asked, and she could immediately see the concern on his face.

“Clarice, I need your help, rather than that of the mutants in the underground," Steve said in a serious tone, sighing before continuing to speak. “The Sokovia Accords are affecting all superheroes, but especially the mutants; several are being locked up, and you know exactly what will follow."

Clarice frowned. This time the situation looked bleaker; they didn't want to be on the run again, being chased by the Sentinels again.

“I'm with you, Cap, but I'll need more detailed explanations. How can we help?"

“I need to get Bucky to safety, and then we can plan a good strategy to make it clear to Congress that Ross is completely wrong," Steve replied.

“Marcos and John can handle that; maybe they'll need Lorna's help. We could use Esme to convince them.

“No, no powers; it has to be with arguments," Steve asked, still hoping that he could convince them that Bucky wasn't the culprit.

“Cap, sometimes humans can be complicated. No offense."

“What I need is for Bucky to be safe; he's not."

“I know, Esme told us, but you should be careful with Stark; he won't hesitate for a second to betray them," Clarice warned.

“Could you also help me get the evidence?"

“We could try; I can't say for sure."

Clarice made some calls; they had to come up with a plan fast. For all they knew, everything was moving too fast in too short a time, and they were sure that in less than a week, they wouldn't be safe anymore.

“Cap, no matter what happens, just remember that the cost they will have to pay if they make the mistake of approving them will be very large in the future because they will never be able to call or assemble a team in time," Clarice said.

2018

Steve looked around, trying to understand what had just happened. He didn't understand how it was possible that they hadn't been able to stop Thanos; they just hadn't had enough time to put together an effective plan, but it really wasn't their fault.

He turned to look at the group of mutants. He could almost hear them repeating to him what Clarice had told him a few years earlier. He had no reason to feel guilty now.

“How is it possible that they didn't stop him? How are we supposed to deal with this whole mess?“ Ross snapped.

“That's none of our business. A few years ago, someone told me that the cost you would have to pay in the future for approving the Accords would be very high, and so it is. Hold yourself and all those who approved them responsible; since you failed to detect a threat in time, find a solution," Steve said, then stood up and left the room.

SUMMER SPLASH/PRIDE MONTH MINI-EVENT

Happy PRIDE MONTH!!

If you're already a part of our brilliant and fun Discord Family, you've seen the announcement for our Summer Splash/Pride Month mini-event! New cards are up (and I'll post them here shortly), and the rules for this mini-event are the same as the Spring Fling event. Don't worry, I'll post everything here. This event starts today, June 1st, and runs the whole length of the summer, so there's plenty of time to participate!

We intend for it to be a fun, low pressure event where members will be able to use any of the prompts to replace squares on your current card if you would like to do so.

For this event, we have cards that are exclusively NSFW and those that are SFW. You can pick either one, but know that if you pick a SFW card you can fill the prompt with a NSFW story. If you pick a NSFW card, you can also do a SFW fill (although some prompts might be a little challenging in that). It's up to you what you come up with. We want to see how creative you can be so for this event with the cards you can choose from one of the pre-made cards listed below and have fun creating.

You can pick ANY of the cards below that inspire you to gain a special Spring Fling badge at the end of the event. As mentioned before you can use any of these prompts on the card you pick to replace any of your current squares if you'd like or if you simply want to do the prompts for the event itself that's okay too.

Because these cards are a little different than the normal cards, to get a bingo and be eligible for a bingo/coverall badge, you have to complete the five square prompts. That's it for this one as it is a smaller card meant to be a fun little add on. Anyone who does 1 fill can get a badge of participation.

Notes: (Or perhaps warnings should be better) For those who've read my fanfics and know my sense of humor and quirks, you know that I put in Easter Eggs, that is references to other movies/TV shows that the actors who portray the characters have been in. I do this a lot. This story is no different. This story has levels upon levels upon levels of references that wind especially between several franchises (Doctor Strange, Sherlock Holmes, Hannibal, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and by the slightest technicality because of the actor who appeared in two of those, there is also a nod at Captain America: The First Avenger). By default of Max Eisenhardt (another name of Erik Lensherr), there is also a nod to Cherik. The clues are all there.

Ficlet: Warmth (Sam / Joaquin)

Sam rolled his eyes and walked over to the fireplace.

Examining it, he wondered if they were risking carbon monoxide poisoning or a fire. The whole place looked like it had been years since anyone had maintained it.

“You think we can light it?” Joaquin asked, kneeling near him to look. “It’s run down.”

“It might blow up,” Sam said, unable to keep the sarcasm out of his voice, “but I’m thinking it’d be worth it.” He grabbed a lighter out of his pack. He was sure the tool was waterproof, so he hoped it would work.

“Your teeth are chattering.”

Sam gave Joaquin a look. The younger man shrugged his shoulders, arms wrapped around his chest in a way that made him look adorable and innocent. He was just as cold as Sam, but he was trying to make the best of it. That was something he admired about Joaquin Torres. He remained optimistic even when things looked grim.

“Sorry,” Joaquin said sheepishly. “How long will it take them to extract us? ”

“I’m not sure,” Sam admitted. He hoped their team would arrive quickly, knowing they were in trouble. There was, however, the blizzard to account for. He touched Joaquín’s shoulder and sighed as they entered the safehouse. “I hope soon, or we’ll freeze to death.”

“That was dramatic.”

It took quite a while to get the fire started. Sam had to admit that part of the problem was his chattering teeth and trembling limbs. Joaquin seemed steadier than he was, so he eventually took the tools and got things moving, stoking up the flame. It wasn’t much, but it made the place warmer. The heat was enough to relieve some aches in him.

He sat down near it, closing his eyes.

"Are you okay, Sam?”

“Freezing my ass off, but okay,” he sighed, allowing his muscles to unclench. He had been tense, naturally. The mission had put him on edge, and being cooped up in this place worsened it.

Joaquin sat next to him. Very close to him. The closeness of their bodies was a relief. Sighing, Sam closed his eyes, tilting his head back to look at the ceiling.

“Sorry,” he said, realizing his attitude had been nasty since the mission ended. “I didn’t mean to snap at you. That didn’t work the way it was supposed to. "

Joaquin gave a slight nod at the words. He pressed their bodies closer together almost unconsciously to get them warm. “It’s okay,” he promised. “I was unhappy with how things turned out too, Sam.”

For a short while after that, they were both quiet. There was nothing to say and nothing else to do but wait for their rescuers to show up. After at least fifteen minutes of silence, Sam noticed a faint tremor in the body next to his. Joaquin was pretty cold, despite Sam being the one complaining. It helped him focus on the idea of someone else, making things easier for his partner.

Sam casually slipped an arm around his shoulder. He knew intimacy was kind of weird for two grown men, friends, and colleagues, but they were both freezing right now. Joaquin tensed slightly, as if it was strange, but then relaxed and looked at Sam sheepishly.

“It really is cold right now,” he admitted, embarrassment making his cheeks slightly red.

Sam nodded, keeping his arm fully around the other man. It was awkward, but at least they got some body heat this way.

“That feels good…” Joaquin admitted, the words coming out shyly. “It wasn’t that terrible until we stopped moving. Now I feel like my bones are literally freezing.”

Sam kept his arm tightly around Joaquin’s shoulders, feeling the other man sort of curl inward towards him. He kept his arm there, protective and comforting, before lowering his head against him.

“Hopefully they’ll come pretty quickly,” he said, trying his best to be encouraging. “I know they can be a little slow with extraction, but they know we’re out here and they know what kind of weather we’re having. I’m sure they’ll hurry it up…”

Joaquin cuddled a little closer, and Sam felt himself blush.

This was definitely enjoyable. So maybe he could freeze for a bit longer.

Finally filled the "sensual touch as communication" square for @marvelrarepairbingo, and of course it was for Danny/Ward. No one else screams intimacy struggles like Ward, who coincidentally is the best character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe 💖 I really love this one! ao3

Danny talked a lot. 

More than anyone he’d ever met, and definitely more than anybody ever should. It was always babbling and beaten with optimism and usually from a high, high horse, so Ward never listened. 

It was just never worth his time, and besides, he always found it much easier to just get lost in the sunshine glow of Danny’s curls and the brilliant blue of his eyes instead. 

Ward never listened, but that’s not to say that he never understood. Communication came in different forms; they found unorthodox substitutes for words that worked just as well, maybe even worked better. Because Ward’s mind was a mess, and his tongue always twisted over his thoughts, but his nerves he could always count on to be alight and alive. He always felt more strongly than anything else, was better with nimble hands than with nimble speech, and… 

God . He was, honestly, so so tired of thinking all the goddamn time. 

Maybe it was the half a lifetime of having to be twenty steps ahead, and even longer never being so. Sarcastic quick wit and a talent for lying could only get you so far. And Danny—beautiful, wonderful, perceptive Danny—somehow saw that. Saw that Ward’s mind was at a breaking point before he ever saw the pills in his desk, before he ever saw him sob blood and seep tears, and even before he even had Ward believing who he was again.

So, they did talk. Just… quietly, and without the hassle of words wrought through tongues and teeth.

Despite, you know, Eddie being human, and Venom not, and apologizing being very culturally-dependent besides (and Eddie's whole job being about him having social interaction with other people! Logan and Ororo advanced cautiously through the dark underground tunnel; however, they did not know exactly how they had gotten there; one moment they were in a forest, and the next they were there.

The air was stale, and the sound of their footsteps echoed off the stone walls. All was darkness now; it wasn’t supposed to be happening. Ororo began to feel a tightness in her chest. Her breathing became rapid and shallow, and a cold sweat beaded on her forehead.

Logan immediately noticed the change in her partner. His eyes caught the trembling in her hands and lower lip, even if she was trying to hide it.

“Are you alright, Ororo?” he asked with concern, stopping beside her.

She tried to smile, but it was more of a nervous gesture than a genuine expression. She didn’t respond.

He nodded sympathetically, but he knew they had to get out of that place immediately for Ororo’s sake.

“Let’s move on carefully,” Logan indicated, placing a hand on Ororo’s shoulder before continuing.

Each step seemed heavier than the last. Ororo struggled to maintain her composure as the tunnel narrowed around her. The walls seemed to close in on her as if the whole world was conspiring to crush her. She tried to remind herself that she was a warrior, a leader, but the sense of panic kept growing inside her.

Logan noticed that her breathing was becoming more ragged and her movements clumsier. “Ororo, we need to get out of here. Right now,” he said firmly, gripping her arm with determination.

She wanted to protest; however, she nodded her head, unable to articulate a word.

Logan led Ororo through the tunnel, desperately searching for a way out. But a section of the tunnel collapsed, blocking their way forward and trapping them in darkness.

Ororo’s heart was pounding in her chest; the air was getting even thinner, or maybe it was her imagination; she felt as if she was beginning to choke as the tunnel walls seemed to close in on them. Logan took Ororo’s hand, trying to convey some calm.

“We’re going to find a way out, Ororo. We’re in this together,” he said in a reassuring tone.

Ororo clung to Logan’s hand. She closed her eyes and forced herself to take a deep breath, not even feeling able to use her powers to get out of there quickly.

Time seemed to stand still as the feeling of desperation grew more and more every minute.

After what seemed like an eternity, they finally managed to make out a faint light at the end of the tunnel. They hurried towards it; they had to get out of that place as quickly as possible for both their sakes; they just hoped it wasn’t another trap or that when they managed to find the exit, there would be something worse.

When they finally made it out of the dark and stressful tunnel, Ororo dropped to her knees on the ground, inhaling great gulps of fresh air. They had made it, though for some reason it didn’t exactly feel like a triumph, but at least they had survived.

Bucky runs a bakery and tries to keep his disaster best friend from eating him out of business. Darcy loves baked goods and tries to keep her science gremlin bestie out of shenanigans. It's a match made in heaven, so just add a dash of fluff and a dollop of humor, mix until the plot is thin on the ground, and bake until cute. Serve with a generous portion of frosting, and don't forget to kiss the cook on your way out.

Chapter 7: Thievery and Cookery 

Summary: Thor has committed a grave sin, and Bucky is in charge of fixing Darcy's cranky mood.
