Jake was what people like to call a party animal. Every weekend he was either throwing or attending a party. This trend goes all the way back to his junior year of high school. Every so often you’d be dragged to one of these events by a friend, usually just so you could drive them home—but you didn’t mind. Parties weren’t really your scene. Why? Too many drunk and wild people. Sometimes those parties would feel like every bad or good that could happen…was happening…everywhere…at once. Tonight was no different, other than the fact that you were dressed up. You just felt like having some fun tonight. That sounded way better than sitting in a corner on your phone for 3 or more hours.

You were leaning against a wall, occasionally sipping from a red party cup filled with some odd concoction that was surprisingly delicious. As you were minding your business, you could sense eyes on you. You turned to see Jake sitting on a couch with a girl on each side of him completely mesmerized and begging for his attention. “Jakey~ please don’t go.” “Yea, stay with us.” “Jake~” the girls whined as Jake stood up and began walking in your direction.

“Have I seen you before. I couldn’t help but notice you were standing here all alone.” Jake said as he looked you from head to toe. “You look amazing by the way. My name’s Jake and you are...�� He reached his hand out to hold your free one. “Thanks and I’m Y/N.” “You have a beautiful name and a beautiful face. No way are you single.” You could tell he was fishing for more information about you, but his words caused you to blush. Or maybe it was his accent. “Hehe. Even your smile is beautiful.” “Jeez. Did you just come over here to make me blush? And, for the record, I am single.” “Well actually I came over here to make you mine.”He placed a soft kiss on the back of your hand and whispered in your ear. “How about we go somewhere private? Would you like that?”

You weren’t really in the mood to be another one of his hopscotch hookers. Even though he was kinda turning you on, his player lifestyle just makes you feel like a one night stand. “Umm…no that’s ok. I’m not really in the mood.” You replied. “Aww. Well that sucks. Could I at least have you number?” He asked. “Yea sure that’s no problem.” The two of you exchanged numbers. “I’m gonna name your contact Sunshine.” He giggled while tapping at the screen. “Well I’m just gonna keep your name ‘Jake’.” You giggled back. “Maybe we can take some time to get to know each other? Just talking, nothing else. Pinky promise.” Jake said extending his pinky to you. This felt kind of childish, but kind of cute too. The two of you interlaced your pinkies. But before you had a chance to go off with him, your extremely wasted friend threw herself in your arms. “I need. To go. Home. Now.” Jake grabbed her other side and helped the two of you to your car. “Maybe another time?” You said buckling your seatbelt. “Yea. And text me when you get home, okay?” He said waving as you pulled off.

It was weird that he was being so sweet, but you can’t deny that you enjoyed it.

Jake headed back to the party, but for some reason he didn’t want all of those other girls around him. Instead he found his friends and partied with them for the rest of the night. However, his friend Heeseung noticed something different about him. Jake was typically surrounded by girls all the time, but now he was telling them to go away. This wasn’t like Jake. He enjoyed being the center of attention, more specifically, sexual attention.

Just as Jake asked, you texted him when you made it home. To your surprise, he responded immediately.

“I’m so glad to hear that. How are you by the way?”

“I’m fine, what about you?”

“Ehh, I’d be better if you were here next to me.” “What about your party?”

“I told everyone to go home.”

You were shocked at his response. You’ve heard these parties last way past 2am and it was barely midnight.

“Oh..well I’m gonna go to sleep now…gn”

“Ok😊G’night Beautiful😴”

This was crazy, but you didn’t want to get in your feelings with a guy like Jake. That’s just setting you up for a broken heart. No way were you going to torture yourself like that.

The next morning you woke up to a text from Jake. “Good morning Sunshine☀️💛” you casually responded with ‘GM’ and proceeded to get dressed for school. However, upon your arrival, you were greeted by Jake. “Hey Beautiful. I gotta run to class. What do you say we have lunch together?” “Umm…yea sure.” “Hehe. Awesome.” Jake giggled before running off to class. *Another weird interaction to add to the list* you thought to yourself.

Time Skip

After class, you were on your way to the campus cafeteria when you heard footsteps approach your from behind. Before you could turn to see who it was your eyes were covered by a set of hands. “Guess who.” You knew it was Jake by his Australian accent, but you still played along. “Hmm…lemme guess…is it Jake?” “Yep it’s me.” He said uncovering your eyes. He then held your hand as the two of you walked to the cafeteria together.

As you approached the clear cases of food you noticed that Jake was picking all of the same foods you were. This was getting weird. “How about we eat lunch outside? It’s a beautiful day~” “Yea that sounds nice.” You said as you headed toward the courtyard. It really was a beautiful day, but you wanted to get to the bottom of this behavior. Jake unwrapped his sandwich and took a bite. “What’s up?” He could tell you wanted to say something as you were blankly staring at him. “Umm…why are you being so nice to me?” “Huh?” “Like I thought you were a player. Why hang around me when you have tons of other girls dying to be with you?” “Cuz you’re my Sunshine. Other girls don’t even cross my mind since I met you. Even though you are the first girl who has ever rejected me.” “I just don’t want to end up like a one night stand.” “Don’t worry about that. I want to get to know you more.”

For the next few weeks Jake continued this odd behavior. Being honest with yourself, you had started to like him too. The two of you had gone on two dates, which were both amazing. You guys weren’t even official and he was already treating you like his princess. You woke up to a text from Jake.

“Hey Beautiful☺️ Wanna join me at a Japanese flower garden today?”

“Yesss.😁 What time should I be there?”

It took him a few minutes to respond.

“Awesome!! I’ll be over there to pick you up in an hour😘”

“You sure? I don’t mind getting there myself.”

“No way, there are a few other things I have planned for us today❤️❤️🤭”

“Really?! Like what?😮”

“A surprise 🥳 you’ll have to wait and see 😉”

This caught you by surprise, as Jake loved to be descriptive and tell you everything he had planned.

“Hmm fineeee~🥲”

“Lol😂don’t worry it’ll be worth the wait🥰 Now hurry up and go get beautiful for me❤️…oh and don’t eat anything😁”

“Lol...okkkk.“

One hour and ten minutes had passed when Jake finally knocked on your door. “You’re late.” You teased. “I was giving you an extra 10 minutes in case you weren’t ready yet.” To be honest, you did need a little extra time…you had forget to switch your cards into your other bag. “Oh, thanks.” You chuckled shyly. “Well let’s go. We got a full day together.” Jake smiled as he grabbed your hand running to his car that was parked in your driveway. He opened the car door for you and waited until you were completely seated before closing the door. The first place he took you to was a cute cafe where you had breakfast together. After that, a flower shop, where he bought corsages and a flower crown for both of you. “What’s all this for?” You laughed as he pinned the flower broach to your shirt. “We gotta get ready for the flower garden remember.” He said with a huge smile on his face. He then proceeded to tie the flower bracelet around your wrist and placed a flower crown on your head. He did the same to himself. “Ok, now we’re ready for the flower garden.”

Once the two of you arrived Jake stepped out of the car first and grabbed a picnic basket from the trunk. You were definitely surprised, just like he said you’d be. After walking around for a while jake led you to an area shaded by a flower arch. “This is why we had to wear the flowers.” Jake whispered pointing upwards. Just as you looked up a few butterflies were flying in your direction. “Don’t be scared. The most a butterfly can do is tickle you hehe.” A butterfly landed on the ring of flowers around your wrist. “Woah…” you looked over to see Jake’s flower crown covered in butterflies. The two of you shared a laugh before Jake reached out and pointed to the bright red ladybug on your top. “That’s a sign of love you know.” Jake gently picked up the ladybug and held it in his hand. “How about we name it. Gotta be quick before it flies away.” Jake said locking eyes with you. “Hmmm…how about Fred?” Hearing this caused Jake to burst out in laughter. “Fred is fantastic.”

Soon after leaving the flower garden, Jake guided you to an open field full of flowers. “Let’s eat here.” He said as he opened the basket and pulled out a white blanket. He placed it on the ground with a weight on each corner, then he started unpacking the food as you sat down. He pulled out champagne—with two glasses, fresh fruit, mini cakes, and sandwiches. The two of you ate and talked until you were full. “Oh and the champagne is nonalcoholic so I can drive.” Jake said as he poured you both a glass. “Oh oh and I have a few more surprises for you.” Jake giggled as he reached into the basket. He handed you a heart box and a plush bear. “Can I open it?” You asked. “Yes of course.” Jake was looking at you like he was going to explode with nerves. You slightly hesitated to open the heart shaped box. You opened the box to see a beautiful necklace.

“Jake…it’s beautiful.” You said holding it in your hand. “Here let me put it on.” Jake stood up and kneeled behind you. “A beautiful necklace for my beautiful girl.” Jake said placing a kiss on your neck. “You’re an amazing girl and I want to make it official with you. So, Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?” “Yes, Jake. I’d love to be your girlfriend.” You said as he crawled around to face you. The smile on his face caused you to smile brighter as he pulled you in for a deep kiss. It was gentle and passionate. “Hehe wait…was this our first kiss?” Jake said combing his hair back with his fingers. “You don’t know how long I’d been waiting to do that.”

Jake held your head in one hand and your waist in his other hand. Cupping your head as he covered your face, lips, and neck in hot wet kisses. This is also how you learned he was an into breath play and enjoyed teasing the fuck out of you. He would pause every so often just so you could feel his breath, making you want him more.

After the date it was getting kind of late. The sun was getting ready to set when Jake asked, “Wanna come over to my place? We can have dinner there. If you think it’s too fast we can do it another time.” You were shocked at how he was being considerate of your feelings. You did love Jake, but it was your first date as his girlfriend. “Umm that’s okay. Definitely another time though.” You replied with a smile. He drove you back to your house and walked you to your door. “But I wanna give you one more surprise. Close your eyes.” You obediently closed your eyes and waited in the darkness. Suddenly you felt his lips press against yours. “I couldn’t leave without giving you one more kiss. Goodnight, Beautiful. I love you.” He looked so sweet when he said this. “Goodnight Jake.” You said waving as he walked back to his car.

Everything seemed to be going well for the two of you. But Jake hadn’t told anyone about his feelings towards you. Heeseung was especially suspicious of Jake’s behavior. When Jake went home Heeseung was waiting for him. “Hey dude what the hell is going on with you?” Heeseung’s face was painted with confusion. “Umm…what are you talking about?” “You’ve been acting weird since that night. You’ve also been flaky and quiet. Does it have something to do with that girl? Don’t lie. I heard about your little lunch date.” Heeseung’s aggressive interrogation caught Jake off guard. He wasn’t really ready to talk about his relationship with you. “Oh she’s nobody. Just another girl from a party. I just haven’t been in the mood for any parties lately.” Jake said hoping his friend would believe him. Heeseung clearly didn’t believe his attempt at covering up. “Okay, well then where were you just now?” “Out. Is that a problem?” “Look Jake, I’m just looking out for you. That’s all. Anyways Jay’s throwing a party tonight. You coming?” “Yeah. Definitely.” Jake drove to Jay’s party with Heeseung.

At the party, Jake was behaving the way he normally would. Drinking, laughing, and surrounded by girls. Heeseung still wasn’t convinced. But whatever conclusions he made were out of the window when he spotted Jake making out with a random girl in the kitchen. The party continued to around 4am. After everyone left, Jake passed out on the couch. What he didn’t know was that someone was taking pics at the party and one showed him in the background locking lips with that girl.

The next morning you received a text from Jake as usual. You were so happy to be Jake’s girlfriend. You thought to yourself that maybe he was past his old player phase and found love with you. The two of you texted sweetly back and forth for the rest of the morning. What you didn’t know was that Jake wasn’t being as honest with you as you thought. The same night he said he loved you and made you his girlfriend, was the same night he threw it all away on a meaningless kiss.
