merlin told arthur his favorite color was the color of the sky during sunset when it shifted into a deep violet. arthur gets a tunic made in that exact shade. its the best thing merlin owns. arthur was hoping that would mean he’d wear it almost everyday but merlin almost never wears it. the only time he does wear it is when royals come to visit (which isn’t all that often). arthur “subtly” asks about it and merlin is like “it’s the best thing i own. i’m not gonna dirty it mucking out the stables or serving rowdy knights wine while they splatter food on it” and arthur is like “why not wear it when nobles come to visit? look at least a little presentable for them” (cough nice save). merlin doesn’t see the point in it bc nobles don’t care about him at best, view him as less than human at worst.

arthur really just wants to see his boyfriend servant in the tunic he had made for him (bonus points for sending a message that merlin is his. not that merlin seems to notice. man is too much of an idiot). merlin wants to preserve his favorite tunic and gift from his boyfriend king.

The clock ticked by, hitting 2:31 am. How on earth were you still up? And why on earth had you made almost no progress in the past forty minutes of work.

The luminescence of the screen in front of you made no effort to stop its attack on your eyes, a definite migraine creeping its way through your skull. All you could do is sigh, taking it as just one more thing to deal with instead of the warning sign to stop that it probably should have been received as. Raking your fingers over your scalp, you were almost too zoned in with your own little bubble to notice your mate come in. Almost.

"Aro?" Your voice is stiff, nearing weak as overexertion creeps it's way through your bones and across your body. "What are you doing here, darling? I thought you had matters to tend to."

"I could ask you the same thing, Cara Mia." His cloak is draped over you like a blanket as soon as he nears, an odd habit he picked up lately. Perhaps it was because he knew you liked it, or perhaps he enjoyed seeing his attire on you. Either way you weren't about to complain. "Now, I believe you told me this would be finished hours ago."

Before a retort can even leave your lips he presses a gentle kiss to them. Short and sweet, and effective in shutting you up.

"Never the matter, but if I may steal my mates attention for one moment-" he speaks as he picks you up effortlessly. Damn him and his vampire strength. "- I think you owe me for making me wait so long, too long. It's cruel really, isn't it my love?" He closes the top of your laptop, carrying you over to the sofa in his study. Settling himself in, you get placed rather perfectly on top of him, and his hand forces your head to lie on his shoulder. Not that you would have resisted anyway.

"But I was almost done." A pretty little pout forms itself on your lips, and though he can't see it with you draped over him, he can certainly hear it in your voice.

A gentle pat to your bottom, and a simple "lies" is all you get in return. Somehow, you can't find it in you to fight against him, still feeling the exhaustion tugging at your very soul at this point.

And so, with a gentle huff and a shake of your head (that most definitely wasn't to nuzzle closer to him), you fall asleep. A win win situation really, you get the rest you needed, and Aro gets the contact with you he always so desperately craves.

The Tintin Timeline

So the Tintin canon continuity is, uh, a mess. It's a "floating timeline" specifically, which is a literary term for when serialized media takes place during the present of whenever it's being worked on. However, nobody seems to have taken a look at the exact timeline within the canon, and exactly how long the stories take place within Tintin's life. All of the following data is approximate, with most of it taken from the setting boxes (i.e. "Two days later") and by studying how many nights pass within each story.

A quick note: Certain spans of time in the book are designated with vague quantifiers, such as “several” or “a few”. However, 7 days is always designated with “a week”. I explain my estimation where necessary, but I usually see the former spans as being within 3-5 days. Again, these are all approximations and I am not claiming any sort of canon declaration; these are presented for entertainment purposes.

Land of the Soviets: 9 days

Congo: 22 days (Tintin spends at least 17 days in the Congo, while his journey there on the boat is said to take “several days”. Given the mode of transport and the distance, I have estimated it as being about 5 days.)

America: approx. 3 weeks (20-23 days)

Cigars: approx. 2 weeks (15-18 days)

Blue Lotus: approx. 4 weeks (25-30 days)

The Broken Ear: approx. 6 weeks (39-42 days)

Black Island: 7 days

Ottokar: approx. 2 weeks (14-15 days)

Crab: approx. 2 weeks (13-14 days)

Shooting Star: approx. 5 weeks (the main story elapses over 20 days; the last page has a scene “some weeks” later, which I interpreted as a fortnight)

Unicorn: approx. 10 days

Rackham: approx. 48 days (The main story seems to elapse over 45 days, and the last page seems to happen some days later)

Seven Crystal Balls: 9 days

Prisoners of the Sun: at least 41 (there are three unaccounted-for periods, when 1. Tintin’s group is climbing the mountains [“days go by” until “one morning”, which I interpreted as being at least 3 days], 2. when they trek through the jungle [”the days go by”, again 3 days], and 3. at the end of the book [”several days later”, interpreted as 6 days])

Black Gold: approx. 27 days (13 days + “some weeks” estimated as a fortnight. The ensuing album opens with Haddock and Tintin returning home, where they hear Calculus has been gone since three weeks before)

Destination Moon: approx. 144 days (This one has the larges jumps in time. The first 36 pages happen over 41 days, then “some months” pass, estimated at 3)

Explorers: 10 days

Calculus Affair: 11 days

Red Sea Sharks: 30 days

Tibet: 33 days

Castafiore Emerald: at least 21 days (there are 18 accounted-for days, and then a period indicated just with “The days go by”. Given how most time lapses in the book are spans of 3 days, this period was at least three days long as well)

Flight 714 to Sydney: 1 day + 7 days (main story; pages 60-62 take place about a week later)

Picaros: 15 days

Total: The events of the The Adventures of Tintin take place over approximately 613 days.

But is it a linear timeline? We have no word on how much time passes between each album, but we’ll add at least one week between each one - except for America/Cigars/Lotus, Destination/Explorers, Crystal/Prisoners, and Unicorn/Rackham - just to give each album’s settings enough time to transition into a new story. This gives us an additional 17 weeks (17 x 7 days). With all of this calculated together, the series happens over the course of approximately 2 years, 2 days...at least, according to a bored fan who likes to count (ง ื▿ ื)ว

Something about Beheaded, Drifter, and V1. Ultradriftcells?? Dv1ftcells?? (Saw these on tags)

Anyways, theres a common theme i see in these 3, and that is existential dread, my favorite soup. Bobby cant die, thus he is well aware of how time will feel faster than before and how he would outlive so many things, that is why attachment is his downfall. Drifter is dying and have so little time, that is why he has little regard of himself, and always tries to focus on what he can do before his time runs out. V1 fears dying, that is why it is the best at what it is doing, a killer machine that continue to perfect its skill, all in the name of blood, fuel that is limited. It is aware that nothing is reserved for their kind on the other side, but it cant do anything but to follow its survival instinct and keep itself feeding.

Ive been blabbering and making comic of driftcells so some of u already know whats up. V1 and drifter, i already shared a few ideas, but the way how drifter disregards his life and v1 clearly values themselves makes an interesting dynamic. V1 cant seem to grasp how drifter can act so nonchalantly about it, after all the drive to survival is so engraved deeply in its code. Drifter somehow sympathizes with v1, knowing he was somehow like that in a way. He knows what it means to dedicate yourself to one thing despite how much blood you coughed up. In a way, they are both cursed under the quarrels of gods and creators.

Beheaded and v1 both find delight in the thrill of combat and bloodshed. That is possibly their way to cope on their own mental dread. Beheaded sees v1 as an elegant being, swift and clean with its work, a being that cant be infected by any disease. V1 finds beheaded very fascinating, considering he is immortal, and in some instances they desire it. They a lil messed up but they got the spirit lmao.

Though perhaps there are a bit of quarrel between the 3. Maybe how beheaded sees how v1 treats drifter. Because for the most part, v1 still sees drifter as a means to survive. Beheaded is clearly attached to drifter. But also drifter's selflessness gets the better of him and sometimes gives too much to both beheaded and v1. The 2 would sometimes retaliate drifter due to them having self preservation in mind, and might had told him that he should act a bit more selfish sometimes

Take away from all of these. These 3 are messed up and are so different from one another, but all of them make up for their own flaws.

Im very normal about them as you can tell.
