New Rosewood!!!

I got this new material in yesterday, and did some engrave tests and cuts! I really like the surface color of the material, with the contrast it gives, especially with the color of the engrave!! I mean, just look how DARK the engrave is!!! Practically completely black! This is due to the density of the material. Check out that carbon residue from wiping the side of the rosewood pin on my hand though. That is a sign that you reallllly don't have enough air pressure to cut this kind of material in this case XD(Black sides like that can also be caused by just too high power, or too low of speed.) Since it is An Mdf board with a rosewood veneer, this means a couple different things. one, Those engraves can get black without disintegrating the material completely! Two, This material is TOUGH to cut. I spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out how to cut this 4mm mdf veneer without catching the material on fire, while still maintaining a completely clean cut through the material. I am barely able to cut this with a low power air assisted 11W diode laser.  I have the equivalent of an aquarium air pump that I use for the air assist(Air assist cleans the cut out as the laser cuts the material, enabling the laser to cut deeper materials, while at the same time, preventing charring and burning.). This is a low power air assist, which means it only works up to a certain density/depth of material. Honestly, for cutting this material, you want a true air compressor capable of around 30 psi being pushed through the nozzle of your laser head. Gonna be making myself some premium pins with this material, as it's a bit more of a hassle to work with for production. Have to clean off those black, carbonized sides before I finish them..

We celebrated our anniversary last weekend and it was sooooo sweet, I'm so glad I took 2 days off to enjoy my time with my bf. Work wasn't even that awful this week, or maybe my interest and will were low because we had Secret Santa and some useless meetings. My Santa got me almost everything on my wish list, except for the film camera (understandable, that shit would've eaten up the whole budget & it's pretty hard to find) so I'm gonna place an online order for a film by the new year. And the coworker whose name I drew for Secret Santa loved her gift too, even though I only got her a copy of the little prince, some christmas tea, sweets and a knitted bookmark... A bit humiliating ngl 😭 like I was unhappy with it cause normally I love making gifts but this time she didn't write much on her wishlist, didn't put any items, and just gave a few hints about what she likes. But she said she loved it a lot and showed it to everyone :((((( lmaooo the pressure was huge too because I really like her. And I wanted to get her something nicer than that. I'll have more opportunities though idk she knows I appreciate her so that's good enough for me.

I had some fun with my coworker this week as well, and today I learned she'd been dating this girl from her hometown for a couple months (long-distance) which I didn't know at all 😶 and apparently she lied to her about being "just friends" with this guy she was casually talking to, because my coworker found out that he didn't even know who she was. He didn't know that girl was seeing my coworker 💀 so today she was all over the place and telling me how much she dreads going home. Idk why she didn't tell me she had a gf, all this time she was making jokes about being forever single and lonely and even flirting with me when she was drunk?? I don't get her lol sometimes I feel like she's projecting a little bit... when she talks about stuff she hates in other people. Like lying or being disloyal 🤡 idk a bit hypocritical and oblivious if you ask me, like that Libra Venus and Ascendant is making her so unserious. But anyway I tried to cheer her up all day and it got me so sad I could tell she was emotional and distracted. And now I won't even see her again until the beginning of January so I hope all will go well while she's back in her hometown
