It was a cloudy Sunday morning, and you already knew the day wasn't going to start well. Waking up with high blood sugar was always a warning that the next few hours would be a constant battle with your body. You looked at the insulin pump screen, the number blinking in red: 287 mg/dL. A tired sigh escaped your lips as you tried to process what to do next.

Billie was still asleep beside you, her face relaxed in deep sleep. You didn't want to wake her, but the restlessness and discomfort were palpable. Slowly, you got up, trying not to make any noise. The house was silent, except for the faint hum of the air conditioner.

While you were in the kitchen, getting a glass of water, you heard soft footsteps. Billie appeared at the door, her eyes half-closed but full of concern.

"Hey, love, what's going on?" She asked softly.

You tried to smile, but you knew you wouldn't fool Billie. She always knew when something was wrong.

"My blood sugar is high again." You admitted, looking at the floor. "I think the pump is failing. I'll need to change it."

Billie approached, wrapping you in a warm hug. "We'll fix this together, okay? You're not alone."

You nodded, appreciating the comfort of her embrace. Together, you went to the bathroom where you kept the diabetes supplies. Billie started preparing the new infusion set while you removed the old one.

"This is so frustrating, Billie." You vented, feeling tears beginning to form. "It feels like I can never have a peaceful day without worrying about this."

Billie paused what she was doing and held your hands, looking deep into your eyes. "I know, love. And it's unfair that you have to deal with this. But I'm here with you, always. We'll get through this together, one step at a time."

You took a deep breath, feeling the calmness that Billie's presence brought. With a gentle gesture, she continued the process of changing the pump, guiding you when necessary. Her skill in handling the situation, even without being diabetic, always surprised you. Billie always made it a point to learn, to be by your side in every difficult moment.

"There." She said after a few minutes, gently pressing the new cannula into your arm. "How do you feel?"

You grimaced as you adjusted the new insertion, but soon gave a shy smile. "Better, I think. Thank you, Billie. I don't know what I would do without you."

Billie kissed your forehead gently. "You'll never have to find out. I'm here for anything, always. Now, how about we have some coffee and then watch that movie you like?"

You nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over you. It wasn't just about changing the insulin pump; it was about having someone who understood your struggles and stood by your side to face them. With Billie, the bad days were a little easier to endure.

Together, you went to the kitchen, where Billie started making coffee. The house, which previously seemed full of uncertainties, now felt a bit lighter, full of hope. And as you watched Billie, you knew that with her, any battle was possible to win.

You knew what you were getting into when you agreed to maintain a friends-with-benefits relationship with Billie. You knew it wouldn't mean you were the only girl she dated, but maybe your subconscious believed there was only one chance she would fall in love with you the same way you fell in love with her.

You don't know exactly how and when it happened, it was as if simply, on a not-so-beautiful day, you woke up completely in love with your childhood best friend.

The moment Billie made you the friends-with-benefits proposal two months ago because she was feeling very lonely and horny - her words -, you knew it wasn't a good idea; and yet, you accepted.

As previously stated, you knew it wouldn't be like in a relationship, but when you were tangled in a warm sheet on a king-size bed, you could even pretend you were something.

Who could you fool? You loved this girl more than anyone could ever love.

And that's how you ended up here, at a party, sitting in a corner while watching the love of your life flirt with dozens of different girls. You didn't know anyone, everyone present at that party was of an unreachable level to you.

Celebrities, famous painters, and even directors of very popular films chatted animatedly while you were just….you, a first-year college student who was the fucking best friend of the biggest celebrity of the moment.

What the fuck am I doing here? You wondered all the time.

No one here was like you, well, except for one person.

"What are you doing standing there, little girl? Come, I'll introduce you to my friends" Billie told you, excitedly pulling you by the hand and leading you to the center of the unnecessary big house.

Even with her smile that didn't leave her face, you could sense that something seemed strange.

The brunette practically dragged you around the room, while introducing you to a series of rich and important men, and a lot of pretty girls.

"And that's Ellie!" she finally introduced you to the last girl on her long list of friends.

How the fuck can someone have that many friends?

"Nice to meet you, Ellie" you said with a slight smile on your face, not liking the way Billie was looking at the blonde girl in front of you, seeming like she was going to devour - in the most sexual way possible - her at any moment. Suddenly, that feeling of jealousy you knew so well settled in the back of your stomach. Heavens how you wish she would look at you like that.

Without you even realizing it, the two women in front of you got into a conversation with a lot of flirting, while you stood there and had a bad feeling in your gut.

You realized that maybe it was time to go get some air.

You considered going back to your house, but you came to this party in Billie's car, so the possibility of leaving alone did not exist, since, even if you took a Taxi, you were sure she would find a way to make unnecessary drama if you just left without her.

You walked out the front door of the big house and sat on the cold grass, plucking tufts from the bush with the fingers of your right hand. You breathed and exhaled the way your psychologist had taught you more than three hundred times, but nothing could remove the immense urge to cry you had at that moment.

And when you were about to shed the first tear, you felt the body warmth of the last person you'd like to see right now, sitting next to you.

"Weren't you with that girl, Amelie?" you said to Billie

"Ellie"

"What?"

"Her name is Ellie" the brunette replied in an even lower voice, leaving all her excitement aside.

It doesn't sound like the girl that was happily flirting with other girls just minutes ago, you thought.

In response to Billie, you just let out a little smirk.

"Won't you go back there? It looked like you were having fun" you said and turned your face towards hers, only now noticing how tired her face looked.

"I wasn't having fun. I hate those dumb weird men and those petty girls" she said "The reality is I wanted to try to distract myself, but none of the girls I flirted with all night were you"

"What?"

"I said I wasn't having fun, I hate those-" she started to repeat what she had said earlier, but you interrupted her.

"Yes, I know, I get it" you say now staring at her seriously, while she avoids your gaze "I want you to repeat the last part".

"None of them were you" she whispered, and that's when she finally looked into your eyes and you realize she was holding back tears.

What the fuck is going on? Is this some sort of bad joke?

"You know, I used to think this feeling would pass" she began "I thought if I ignored it, maybe all my love for you would be gone... it didn't happen. So when I realized that pretending you didn't exist wasn't going to work, I asked you to be my friend with benefits, so at least for a few hours, I could pretend we weren't just friends. I thought that the idea of never having you would end up settling in the back of my mind and that it would pass; but, to my not-so-surprise, it seems like every day I fall more in love with you."

When you hear those words, it's almost as if the world has stopped spinning. Everything you've ever wanted is in front of you, and for the first time in your life, you've decided not to be a coward and follow what your heart tells you

I want her.

Before you could even answer the girl sitting next to you, she gets up and starts walking towards the big house.

I can't let the love of my life slip through my fingers, you decided, so you got up and ran a little until you got close to Billie, who was now just a few feet away from the entrance of the house.

"Billie!" you said and she turned around, with tears in her eyes.

"I know you don't feel the same, I'm sorry if I scared you"

"Fuck you, Billie!" you say and she looks at you wide-eyed "It's obvious I'm in love with you too, idiot, I've loved you forever"

And, before she could process what you had said, you throw yourself into her arms and kiss her as if your life depended on it - because it does.

She soon returns the kiss with even more passion. Her lips tasted sweet and she soon asked for passage with her tongue, which you immediately allowed.

To the sadness of both of you, you had to separate to breathe a little, and it was only then that you noticed that some curious eyes stared at you.

Your attention is soon returned to Billie when she hugs you tightly and puts her face on your neck.

In a muffled voice, still keeping her face in the crook of her neck, Billie says:

"You know, there was no need for you to tell me to fuck off"

.. The old ladies & croweaters- the ones you considered friends, even maybe family now; kept telling you Chibs had moved on. You and Chibs weren't officially a couple, so you had to act like you didn't give a shit, but in reality - you fell in love with the man the first time he spoke to you.

All you knew was that it hurt like hell! You had fallen so hard for Filip Telford over the past few months since moving to Charming - you really thought he was the one but you knew everything was too good to be true.

"I do now!" grabbing the packet of cigarettes and lighter you head outside.

Leaning against the wall, you lit the cigarette. This was the first one you'd had since quitting 5 years ago. You were ashamed, but you smoked as if it was going to cure everything. Blowing out the cloud of smoke a hand appeared yanking the cigarette from your grip.

"What the fuck are you doing lass?" Chibs face concerned.

"Hey, give me that..." you stumbled. "You don't get to take stuff off of me, like that bitch whore has..."

"What are ya talking about Y/N?" Chibs more confused than concerned now.

"That woman you've been seen with all over town, the girls have already told me, so save it Chibs. I hope she was worth it." Chibs scratched his brow with frustration and realising what was happening.

By this point the girls and the rest of the Sons had come out to see what was going down. A few of the boys took the girls back inside to talk.

"Y/N, the woman is no bitch whore. I can assure you! It was your sister."

You stare at him, tears leaving your eyes. You waited for more answers.

"I asked your sister, Y/S/N into town for lunch - I wanted to ask for her blessing on behalf of your family. I wanted to seek approval to ask for your hand in marriage.... Goddammit." he began to get angry.

You began to sob, so hard shoving your face into your hands.

Billie and you had been together for two years. Your relationship had started unexpectedly but quickly turned into something deep and meaningful. Between tours and recordings, Billie always found time for the two of you, whether through long conversations into the night or quick getaways to peaceful places.

Billie's apartment in Los Angeles was your sanctuary. One night, while watching a movie on the couch, Billie turned to you with a mischievous smile.

"Hey, I was thinking... how about we adopt a dog?" She said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

You were surprised but also excited about the idea. "Really? Do you think we're ready for that?"

Billie held your hand, intertwining her fingers with yours. "I think so. Let's take a step forward, build something together. And besides, I've always wanted a dog. And you?"

You smiled, feeling a wave of happiness and love. "I’d love that. Let's do it."

The next day, the two of you went to a local animal shelter. There were so many adorable dogs, all waiting for a home. Billie looked like a kid in a candy store, examining each puppy with a huge smile on her face.

After an hour of searching, a light brown puppy with curious eyes caught both of your attention. He was a mix of breeds but seemed to be the perfect combination of energy and sweetness.

"This is the one." Billie said, kneeling down and petting the little puppy. "What do you think?"

You knelt down beside her, and the puppy immediately came to sniff your hand, wagging his tail frantically. "I think he chose us." You replied, laughing.

You completed the paperwork and finally brought the new family member home. On the way, you discussed names. After several funny suggestions, you decided on "Luz."

"Luz." Billie said, testing the name. "It suits him. He's going to light up our lives."

The first days with Luz were a mix of chaos and fun. He was full of energy, running around the apartment, chewing on slippers, and exploring every corner. Billie and you took turns teaching him basic commands, and he quickly became part of your routine.

Obviously, Dwayne’s gym routine was a lot longer than yours. You were having a cardio day, working the machines, feeling good. And by the time that you were finished - Dwayne was still only on his second machine of the day and was planning to keep on going. But that was him. Never give up, never stop. It was a good thing you enjoyed watching or else you would hardly get to spend any time together.

“You done, baby?” He asked, moving one ear of his headphones to the side, continuing to work his leg muscles.

“Yeah, I’m done,” You said, wiping some sweat off of your forehead. “I’ll stick around for a bit. Give you some motivation.”

Apart from his kids, you were his favorite cheerleader. You’d give him the exact motivation that he needed to get through some of the more grueling parts of his workout. He switched from legs to arms, chest and shoulders with his pushups. Sometimes you’d sit on his back to add extra weight for him while he did it but today, you had a whole other plan.

You sat down in front of him, back to him, and then laid down backwards. Slid up a little so that your head was between his arms and looking up at his handsome head. He grinned at you, and raised his eyebrow iconically. It made you giggle to see that face, every single time. “What are you doing now?” He asked, not moving from the stance.

“Every time you come down, you get to kiss me,” You said, licking your bottom lip in anticipation. “Does that sound enough like motivation?”

“No,” He laughed, shaking his head. “That’s gonna make me not want to push back up.”

“Oh, I’ll give you something later if you push back up,” You smirked. He kept that eyebrow raised and then let it drop, laughing again.

Few days have passed since I've moved from Washington to California for this job and stay with Jackie temporarily, I didn't realize that living with your friend could be this fun. I've never had any roommates or anything when I was living in Washington and studying, well I have Kelly who visits me from time to time but things get a little bit lonely when you're not with people. For my case, not anymore.

Jackie and I spent our days going out to eat, look around the city, and talk about stuff that we needed to catch up on before the big day, which is me starting my job as Hailee's personal assistant. I still like to think that this whole ordeal is a fever dream, cause there is no  way in hell or heaven that I got a job as her personal assistant. And of course, I decided to dress nice even though Laura didn't e-mail me about the dress code, I still need to look my best when I am face to face with Hailee Steinfeld. I put on a pair of slacks and a pair of black high heels and a while long sleeve button down shirt, my hair is down and I added some light make up and  jewelry to make myself a little bit mature and presentable.

"So how do I look?" I asked Jackie, a smile forms on Jackie's face seeing how well  put my outfit is "You look amazing! One more thing." Jackie says, standing up from the couch to roll my sleeves up so my forearms are exposed "Better, you look like a Victorian boy with the sleeves down. And I bet it's gonna turn your boss off." Jackie says, jokingly which I rolled my eyes and gently slapping her arm. 

"Jackie, I am not there to turn my boss on." I said, chuckling as I straightened my clothes. I checked my phone and my eyes widened to see that it's already 9:25 am, Laura expects me to be at the building around 10:30 am. I start to panic and pace around to grab the essentials that I needed from the counter top, which concerned Jackie a little bit "Y/N, you good?" She asks me.

"I just realized that it's already 9:25, Laura expects me to be there around 10:30." I explained to Jackie, Jackie walks up to me again and asks me "Do you want me to drive you to the office?" Thank God, I became friends with this woman from stan twitter. If I wasn't friends with Jackie, I'd be living on the street by now. "Please!" I said in a dramatic tone, making us both laugh. 

Jackie didn't bother glamming up, since she's just gonna drop me off the building I will be meeting Hailee. Jackie just threw in a pair of sweatpants underneath her old gym shorts and a jacket, she grabbed her keys, phone, and wallet patting my back "Alright, I'm set. Let's roll." Jackie says heading out of the apartment, and I followed suite.

After braving the Los Angeles traffic, and a few road rages from Jackie here and there, we managed to arrive at the building at around 10:25. I wouldn't say it was picture perfect but, at least I am not late. I got out of Jackie's car and stared at the huge building in front of me, I turned around and waved goodbye to Jackie before she headed back to her apartment.

My hands start to shake and my legs start trembling, I can already feel the nervousness rushing through my veins as I look at the building right in front of me. I take a deep breath and proceed to enter the building. I walked up to the front desk with a confident smile on my face, my eyes fixate on the name plate the front desk lady has and back at her "Hi, I am here to see Laura McKinnon?" I said in a costumer service-y voice. 

When all of a sudden, this woman came out of the elevator, she's blonde and has green eyes, and is also wearing something that a mix of casual and corporate. She's walking up to me with a warm smile on her face, turns out that woman is Laura "Y/N, it's nice to meet you in person. Miss Steinfeld is already expecting you, follow me." Laura told me as I follow her to the elevator, once we were at the elevator, Laura presses a button that leads us to the 12th floor of the building.

As Laura and I arrived at the 12th building, she lead me down the hallway and made me stop outside the door of an office which I assume it's Hailee's. "Wait here for a while Miss Waldorf." Laura says, as she enters the office. I stood there for at least thirty seconds, and after waiting Laura came out of the office "She's ready to see you now." Laura said with a smile on my face as she left. 

I took another deep breath and reached for the door knob, twisting it as I enter the office. Once I was there, I was greeted by none other than Hailee Steinfeld sitting on an office chair with a smile on her face, holy hell she's very pretty up close. "You must be Y/N Waldorf." She says, with that smooth sounding voice that will get me weak on my knees in a matter of seconds but I have to be on my best impression and not say anything out of pocket. "Yes, I am Y/N Waldorf. It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Steinfeld." I said, trying my best to be confident in front of this gorgeous woman.

Hailee smiles at me and chuckles "Have a seat." She said, gesturing towards the chair across her. I walked up to the chair and sat down, my eyes are now looking into her hypnotizing hazel eyes which caused me to twiddle my thumbs under the desk. "So tell me about yourself, I like to get to know people a little more." Hailee said, I cleared my throat and fixed my posture before I start to speak.

"Well I just graduated college a few months ago, I am born and raised in Washington and I drove all the way from Washington to California... And I live with my friend who I met on Twitter because we are such big fans of you." I said, smiling at Hailee hoping to break the ice between us. Hailee chuckles again, this is the second time I made this woman smile already... I think she likes me. 

"You're so dedicated Y/N, just what I need for my team. Also how long have you been a fan of me? Just curious." Hailee asks, the smile not leaving her face. I chuckle and smile at her "Well ever since I've watched The Edge of Seventeen, I loved you as Nadine and yeah... Never looked back ever since." I answered as I keep that smile on my face. Hailee nods, leaning back her chair "Interesting, I love that. Y/N quick question, how long have you been staying with your friend?" She asks, leaning in closer to me, resting her elbow on the desk and her chin on the palm of her hand. 

"For almost a week now, I am apartment hunting right now and all I can say is that living in LA is kind of expensive." I say, Hailee chuckles as she moves a strand of hair away from her face "I agree, as time flies the rent in Los Angeles gets higher. I don't blame you, this along with New York, are the cities for dreamers so there are a lot of people living here. Speaking of, do you want to live with me for the mean time?" Hailee asks me her eyes twinkling. 

I froze for a second, did Hailee Steinfeld ask me if I can stay with her at her house? In Malibu?!? I looked around my surroundings and looked back at Hailee "Are you serious?" I asked her, hoping she was joking or not. "I am being serious, after all I need to be close with my personal assistant and you won't worry about being late. So what do you say Y/N?" Hailee asks me again, this time a warm smile forming on her face. A smile formed on my face and I nod "Sounds good to me, when do I move in?" I ask her, Hailee leans back again and sighs "Well, how does tomorrow sound? We got some serious business to deal with tomorrow." She asks me back, raising a brow.

"Tomorrow sounds good." I respond, smiling at her with pride as I slowly but surely get used to her now "I am glad to be on this journey with you, Miss Steinfeld." I say, Hailee laughs and shakes her head, she stands up from her chair and I follow suite. "Please, Y/N. Just call me, Hailee instead." Hailee said, extending her arm out for me to shake. I grabbed her hand and I felt how soft and smoot her hand is, which made my heart skip a beat, I shook her hand and gave her a stern nod. "Yep, I'll keep a note on that." I said, letting go of her hand. Hailee smirks and winks at me "Welcome aboard Y/N." She said.

After that, I decided to take an Uber back to Jackie's place. I still can't get over all of this happened today, it still felt like a dream and I can't believe that this job will be the one that will probably change my life for the better.

"Wait, you're gonna live with Hailee?!?" Jackie exclaimed as she grabs a bag of chips from her pantry, I smiled and nodded as she sat down next to me "Yeah, insane right? She said that she wanted me to move in with her." I said, still shocked as I grabbed a handful of chips from Jackie. "You are basically living every fans life, and I am jealous! But at the same time proud of you." Jackie pats my shoulder, putting her arm around me as we binged watch Parks and Recreation.

[HAILEE'S POV]

I had dinner with my manager Laura to discuss things after I met my personal assistant, I sit down across her as our food was served by the server. "Hailee, we need to discuss about your bold move of moving Y/N in your house." Laura said, I furrowed my brows at her words, tilting my head in confusion. "What do you mean by that Laura? I am just doing an act of kindness towards my new personal assistant." I said taking a sip of my beverage and putting it down, Laura sighs as she rubs her temples "I get that, I think it's a good idea. I don't have a problem with that, but however... What if she knows about your secret?" Laura says opening up about the secret. 

I swallowed hard, looking around if someone is hearing our conversation "Laura, I've known Y/N just today, I rest assure you that she is a trustworthy assistant. And I bet she won't know what I do behind closed doors." I reassured my manager, I have a feeling that my assistant will not be a huge tattletale despite the fact I've known her already after my conversation with her earlier in my office. "Alright, I trust you on this one." Laura told me, chuckling as she takes a sip of her drink. I smiled at Laura, this woman has been my manager ever since I was a little girl, she's like my second mother at this point "Thanks, Laura." I said as we continued to have dinner. Excited for Y/N to move in with me and start to do some serious business together.
