So my Almave order came in today. I ordered it before I decided to stop supporting Lewis and forgot about it, but it's here now, so I figured I might as well do a review.

The pics below are what the box looks like when it comes in. It's very secure and sturdy. They didn't skimp on the packaging. I've also included my hand in a shot of the bottle and a bottle of rum next to it for size comparison.

Now, for a the actual review.

It smells very strongly like an añejo tequila. It full on smells like an oak barrel with some floral notes. Idk how they did that, but it smells like bad memories and regret, honestly.

I expected it to taste like watered down agave syrup, but it tastes more like a reposado tequila without the burn at the end. It's subtle at first but leaves a little sweetness at the end, and it warms your throat just a little bit but without the bite of tequila. It's very smooth.

In some ways, it feels like drinking very lightly sweetened cold herbal tea.

Edit: Do I think it's worth $40... it depends. The smell and taste of tequila trigger my fight or flight response, so for me, it's a no. But if you like the smell and the taste and want none of the bite or you are really into virgin tequila cocktails or just want to try something new, yeah I think it's worth a one-time purchase.
