The second Iconic Moment I did for the @DGM20thproject summarizing the Martel arc! I'm still not okay with what happened to Lala and Guzol even 20 years later T^T The "I want to be a destroyer who can save" quote really stuck with me all those years.

Redrawing this page was a huge challenge. I love Hoshino-sensei's art, but now I have new appreciation for her paneling skills and intricate detailed drawings!! They are not easy to replicate!

About 11 years ago while in high school, I picked up my first D.Gray-Man volume, and looking back at it now I think it must've changed me as a person. As life went on and I dove into this race called "trying to become an adult," I forgot all about this period of my life.

That was, until I heard about this project. Then I remembered how much this story meant to me. How each and every character taught me something about navigating a complex and deeply unjust world. How my art style must've been greatly influenced by Hoshino-sensei's (especially the way I draw eyes). How every time I try to be a better person it must be because over a decade ago this manga told me that I can choose to hope, even when it seems impossible.

It has been a great joy and honor to be a part of @dgm20thproject's manga redraw, and to have be given an opportunity to put my own spin on this page, which I chose because of the way it explores the nuances of grief and how it can darken one's heart. The people who worked on this project all shine so brightly in the way they express their bonds with their pages and arts, and I'd like to give them all a standing ovation for all we've achieved together in this zine. Whether you're a DGM fan or not (you should be), come check out our labour of love here.

The Iconic Moment I did for the @dgm20thproject summarizing the end of the Ark Arc! A long favourite of mine so I didn't hesitate at all to take this one :3 Still love the Red alt better but the Blue version worked well with the Ark Arc vibe. The Arc was an absolute pain to draw, even more since half of it got hidden in the end X')
