Not sorry, but I do think the scene in RE1 Remake where Chris is shown the tyrant by Wesker is such a downgrade from the original. Cheesy acting aside, it makes so much more sense in the original RE1 that Chris actively mocking Wesker and refusing to take him seriously would leave a huge impression compared to calling Wesker "senile". Saying Wesker is pitiful, actively laughing in his face, and then calling the tyrant, Wesker's life work, a failure? Of course Wesker would become obsessed with Chris and want to prove him wrong while gloating at every opportunity to best him. That's the logical next step.

Like when standing in the face of despair and hopelessness, where almost all of his teammates were dead, when he discovered the cause of it all was coming in house from someone they all trusted, the last thing Chris was supposed to do was have the balls to laugh in Wesker's face and then put salt in the wound by sincerely mocking him. Who would expect that? No one! That's why Wesker sounded so upset and confused.

OG RE1 had Chris take a hard stab at Wesker's pride and it was a successful stab just moments before he got killed by his own creation. RE1R Wesker was completely unphased by Chris' singular taunt and then got insta killed.

Pretty sure one of these Wesker's had a seed planted of Redfield obsession, but it certainly wasn't the Remake.
