Just finished reading Jade Dynasty and oh god, I can't with how the novel ended, like wtf

First of all, I'd like to point out the beautiful writing the author has; he has a cool way of describing and decorating the paragraphs and making them fluent at the same time. Fan of his writing and I'm going to read his next shared universe novel, for sure.

Poor zxf, his life was full of sorrows, but the novel made it quite clear that mortal life is that, the peril, the existence of many tones of grey and grivances (it's not entirely that but, anyway), and I'm glad he lived up to what the novel set.

And then, I loved how by the end he was so ethereal. As if he had transcended matters of heaven and earth. Calming to a certain extent.

Now, lxq loves him so much it hurts (she was with him and let him know he wasn't alone 😭😭). The author played with us a lot because each time she was in danger and someone saved her, it was never zxf.

I'm glad they didn't officiate anything, not even in the epilogue (tho deep down that was what I wanted the most), cause zxf needed to let go of the last shadow of Bi Yao embracing him, not forget her (in fact, I liked that detail of the green robe waving near him), but rather idk, his love for her and xq changing.

I like how they both (zxf and lxq) could live well without each other and were at ease with their reunion.

It was (literally) like the last chapter of a book and the end of the story, but with a new beginning full of possibilities and a new book ready to be written.

i’m just living for their interactions! it was fun to watch cheng ze lose his composure and fan xian is the only one capable of that

i’m certain if li cheng ze ever found out that fan xian was his brother, he wouldn’t even be surprised because there’s no other person who could match his insane energy lol

that entire scene with the couples was hilarious and intense. i wasn’t expecting to like the first prince and the northern qi princess so much but they’re so funny and make a good match. his younger brother was poisoned (maybe?) by his arch nemesis and the first prince response was “eh maybe you should give up” lmaoo. i guess he likes fan xian now?

since lin wan er called out li cheng ze for being a snake, she proved she’s stronger and smarter than people realize. i’m glad they’re showing this side of her because i confess i wasn’t interested in her and their romance in the first season much but it’s growing on me now.

ALSO can we talk about the fan family?? i just love them so much and their absolute trust and reverence for fan xian. fan jian didn’t even question being poisoned by his son and played along, even ruoruo was surprised. like fan xian don’t even worry about being recognized as a prince from the royal family. they’re all fakes and schemers but your fan family are ride or dies for you 😤

37. Words Can't Convey My Love, this!!! Shu Rongbo as Chen Xiao being absolutely flustered, (trying) and failing to confess to his crush is so cutee with Wu Yihan trying to wingman in the background. The ending is so funny too lol, with Shu Rongbo running away and Wu Yihan shouting at him. The song is good, the choreo is good, Shu Rongbo's voice is also really good.

I mean exactly what I said. It's part of the setting. Mpreg is part of MDZS setting.

Or rather, mpreg is part of any and all xianxia or Chinese fantasy settings. Mpreg is not impossible... or even truly rare... in xianxia setting. There are at least three different regular ways for men to get pregnant in this kind of setting, even for low xianxia like MDZS.

Xianxia is Chinese fantasy. Cultivators cultivate until immortality. The upper level of cultivation, an immortal becomes a facet of reality and bends the world to their will. Some can even create an entirely new world wholesale. What's getting pregnant compared to that?

Sure, the setting of MDZS is low xianxia. But we know at the very least a lot of MDZS cultivators are at the Jindan stage. Do you know which stage comes right after the Jindan stage?

元婴 Yuanying. The common English translation for this stage is Nascent Soul. But its real meaning is nascent / origin child/baby/infant.

How does yuanying come about? Well, a cultivator at the end of Jindan stage will go through tribulation. If they pass through tribulation successfully, the jindan (golden core) in their belly will collapse and out comes a baby. This baby then takes over the task of the jindan, circulating the cultivator's chi and feeding off of it. The baby will grow alongside the cultivator's progress, eventually maturing and potentially becoming a separate person should the parent allows it.

This stage is very well documented in actual real-world ancient texts by Wu Liupai, dating back to the 16th century. It's not a modern concept made up for entertainment. It's part of actual real-world Daoist practices and beliefs.

...And xianxia is the brought up to eleventh fantasy version of real-world Daoism. Think about it.

So in truth, every single high-level Jindan stage cultivator in MDZS is just one stage and one successful tribulation away from getting preggo whether they want to or not. (Yes. Every single one of them. Not just Wei Ying or Lan Wangji, but also Jiang Cheng, Lan Qiren, Lan Xichen, Xiu Xingchen, Song Lan, Nie Mingjue... if he didn't die, etc... Not Jin Guangyao, though. He's too weak to get pregnant. Jin Zixuan, maybe)

You don't even have to be a cultivator or in a xianxia setting to get pregnant (whether you are male or female or whatever). Artificially induced pregnancy has been a thing in Chinese folklore since the Summer and Autumn period (BCE). Several different classics mention a fruit called 孕果 yunguo (Lit. Pregnant Fruit). This fruit bestows the ability to get pregnant to anyone who eats it, regardless of gender. Sexual activity with a man is still required, though. Can't make something out of nothing.

And the most famous and widely known in Chinese folklore: water from the River of Mother and Child 子母河. Anyone who drinks this water becomes pregnant, regardless of gender (or even species, actually). You know the most famous person who drank it? The monk Tan Sanzang... and his disciple Zhu Bajie (a male pig), and Sha Wujing (a male fish). It's been made into several TV series and movies. In one of those movie adaptations, Tang Sanzang even carried the pregnancy to term as he wasn't willing to terminate a life and saw this as an opportunity to experience the female side of life.

In the same story, Journey to the West, a rock was pregnant with Son Wukong and gave birth to him.

You have to remember this. Ancient Chinese didn't really think of pregnancy as a biological process requiring sperm and eggs like we do today. They thought of it as a concentration and condensation of qi (breath of the world) until the 'mother body' was saturated with fetal qi and gave birth.

Real-world folklore texts are chockful of such instances where things got pregnant with the breath of the world and gave birth. And that's just regular folklore, not the brought-up-to-eleven version that is xianxia.

Ji Xiaokun posts his own photography (he's good!).

5) Google translate, however broken, is enough to translate the captions, so use it for context✨Ppl sometimes give their reviews titled 'repos' from the stage they've seen 🙏

6) You'll find more musical related clips under the actor's tag, than in 'LC musical' main tag. It's usually in an actor's fancam, but not always. Useful when you like an actor or there was a particular moment you want to see from a different angle🌟👌

The real question of this season.

I love that Wu Zhu was fine going back to the Divine Temple but the moment the other android was all "and we must drag Fan Xian back as an error" he was all nope, not happening. I love love love how he is an android who has developed emotions - it's so amazing.

The battle is amazing btw and oh, the realization that the emperor wanted a grandmaster (and orchestrated the whole Ye thing) and was fiddling with weapons making for two freaking seasons all to take out Wu Zhu (and later other grandmasters) because he does not like anyone to be this powerful and out of his control.

Oh, and this scene. This is the softest we've ever seen the emperor but what really gets me is the hungry, vulnerable look on Fan Xian's face as he sees his mother's face for the first time in his life. (Also, I will always love this drama for making the epic parent to live up to a mom.)

And after having a sentimental bonding moment with his son, emperor goes out to make sure said son's protector and uncle got killed and when he finds out he wasn't, is disappointed but goes back in for some more bonding, not forgetting to order all the soldiers involved killed just in case.

PS This did crack me up.

I'm not entirely buying Hong Zhu's reveal later in the ep. I think he's the one who tore up the answer paper, and the hard luck story may or may not be true, but that's irrelevant. What's relevant is that this eunuch knows Fan Xian will fight for those he thinks are without power, who've suffered injustice.

I hope Fan Xian doesn't allow himself to be so easily read (and led) by the people in the palace.
