wait when did Sette need new shirts hasn't she had the same one since the start
She is on her second complete outfit, just like Duane is on his second leg. It's been a rough journey. Duane's been much more of a fashionplate than Sette has though, he's had several outfits. Quigley's had two, Matty's had two, Jivi's had three...

tag of the week:
@theendofcake :
#WWX strides off like a runway model ⋯ and his fashionplate brother has to break into an undignified run ⋯ meanwhile LWJ's little face of 'I am not at all watching WWX leave' is a masterpiece ❋

I made some sewing progress in the past few days!
First, I have Jack's mourning shirt. I thrifted a very old nightgown for this because I'm in love with the ruffles and gathers. Just hacked it off at shirt length and hemmed it. I won't tell my actor if you don't. 🙊
Next we have Gwendolin's first skirt. My Gwendolin design is almost geometric and angular in the details, so this ribbon with cutouts is PERFECT. All the trim on the light blue outfit will be pure white to match this.
Third, we have Lady Bracknell's overskirt for the first skirt. I know my actress doesn't love my mauve satin, so when I saw a circular machine lace tablecloth in a thrift store, I HAD to have it. I can't exactly find a fashionplate to base this exact style on, but of course Lady Bracknell is an older character, so she can really do as she pleases. Plus, skirt-over-skirt designs were super popular in the previous decade (but with bustles, yuck). And it's pretty, and I like it, so I don't care. 😁
I cut a hole in the center and hemmed it with bias tape. It's big enough that my actress can put it on over her head. I'm going to sew one hook on the back, and she can hook it onto the lace wherever it fits her waist.
Last, we have Lady Bracknell's first skirt. Yep, the mauve one that's getting the lace overlay. This one was handmade by a mentor of mine for her daughter's spring formal, so maybe 30 years ago. There are seven seams in this skirt, and all the raw edges were starting to fray so much that the frayed threads were coming out the bottom of the skirt. I clipped all the threads, pinned some salvaged wide bias tape over them (I HATE normal bias tape), and sewed them all up. The old visible zipper opening now has bias tape on both edges. I'll make some sort of placket closure when I put the new, smaller waistband back on.
And of course, everything went perfectly all day, so I had to mis-sew the very last inches of the very last seam.
'Tis now properly seam-ripped and repaired.
My next task is working on this lovely dress. I thrifted it solely because the skirt part will fit my Cecily actress, and I can use the lines on the skirt to place my ruffles. Since her dress is not just a tiered skirt but a flouncy one, I need a base skirt to sew all those ruffles onto. I'll put another tier, maybe two, on the bottom for fullness.

Merveilleuse and Incroyable. French fashion of the Directoire. 1795.
THE most noticeable features in the costume of the gallant which the plate represents are the excessively high cravat, the variegated hose, the short waist of the coat, and the duplicate fob-chains.
The extravagance of the costume in these particulars beyond that which is common to the time, together with the great length of the hair, gives the character something of a dandyish appearance. This effect is still further heightened by a striking contrast of colors.
The lady, as represented in the plate, is more modestly and tastefully dressed, the costume bearing a slight resemblance to one of the styles now in vogue.
These figures are taken from Albert Kretschmer.

One more post before the holidays are over! ☝️ More of my current historical fashion fixation. One from the late 1870’s - early 1880’s, when they temporarily did away with the bustle only to bring it back. #victorianfashion #victorian #fashionplate #historicalfashion #historicalcostume #costumerendering #bustle #mermaidbustle #mermaidsilhouette #walkingdress #parasol #procreate #digitalillustration #illustration #1880sfashion #1880s #1870sfashion #1870s https://www.instagram.com/p/B6hpEGMjqYS/?igshid=cwht45v38rkc
