[He dresses pretty simply - a lot of dark colours and the words 'comfortable', 'tactical', and 'utilitarian' come to mind. Valen doesn't mind spending more on items that he really likes and knows will last him for a long while. About 40% of his attire is gear for work; lots of tactical clothing that gives him a bit of protection and holds his other gear. Such as holsters, tac vests, and other related things.]

──── ⁺⭒๋ a small collection of Valen's usual mood/vibes/inspiration/style that I've put together. Some of my favourite vibes all in one place. He's a specialized private contractor, and picture 6 + 8 is an example of his gear he uses about 40% of the time. The company he works for, Ares Systems, has darker, more tactical uniforms he wears the other 60%. Pictures 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9, are his casual wear; things he wears while he's not working and (probably) either getting unto a fight at some dive bar or going out to get fast food with his baby. Pic 4 is just one of my favourite body inspos for Valen and pic 5 is one I've always associated with him. That time of evening is his favorite; still warm out, still light, but the energy is different.

Valen's hobbies tend to be things that keep him very active. He much prefers movement and exertion over stillness and quiet. The only exception to that rule is his drawing hobby; Valen is an artist and when he's working on a sketch or a draft is about the only time that he can sit still for long periods. He's got very steady hands and likes designing architecture - specifically larger buildings, such as banks and churches, in a more modern, complex style.

Valen's other hobbies include

Surfing/swimming - he's very talented at both and spending a full day out on the beach/in the water is like heaven to him. He loves the ocean. When he's not actively messing around in the water, he's laid out on the sand relaxing or looking around for neat rocks, shells, or sea glass.

Sparring/training martial arts - Valen's been fighting since he was 13 years old and is very talented in a handful of styles, namely the ones he can use in a real fight. So, Valen usually practices ones like kickboxing, krav maga, and jujitsu. While he does spend a lot of time in a training ring, he also fights often in an underground combat ring. It's a little illegal, but he enjoys the bare knuckle fights; the aggressive physicality is good for him. Is it healthy? Maybe not, but he won't be attending therapy anytime soon. A consensual fistfight is as good as it gets.

Working out - very self explanatory, and good for multiple things; keeps him fit, helps him get out of his own head, and gets some energy out.

Valen has so many pets 🥹 his first pet he gets is a banana ball python he names Buttercup (which is short for I Can't Believe It's Not Buttercup - he's secretly a dork). He adores snakes and he takes such good care of her - he'll even just walk around his house with her around his forearm or neck.

The second pet he and Nathan get is a pet chicken whom Nathan named Benny, which is short for Eggs Benedict. Yes, this is canon. Nathan made an executive decision and brought her home one day from a farmer's market, surprising Valen. Nathan loves the chicken, and Valen loves seeing Nathan happy, so they just have her as a pet. They spoil her immensely.

The third pet Valen gets is a golden retriever who he and Nathan name Biscuit. Valen's had a golden retriever before, when he was a kid, and he's loved dogs ever since. He goes for jogs in Charter Hill with Biscuit almost every day. So, he has three babies; Buttercup, Biscuit, Benny. And yes, they are all blondes. It is not lost on me how dark nighttime shadow-y Valen accumulates four bright, happy, sunny blondes into his life 🥹

Valen tends to dress in ways that allow him a good range of movement; essential for his line of work as a private contractor, and also because he likes being comfortable. He wears tight clothes fairly often, but he prefers when they have stretch to them (or else he'll have another ripped shirt at the shoulders incident. The curse of being a 6'4" muscle-y boy).

He likes hoodies, high neck sweatshirts, workout shirts, utility jackets, and has more tactical clothes for work than he knows what to do with. He'll tend to pair his more utilitarian/tactical clothes with casual ones, such as those slim cargos with a casual hoodie. Valen just likes comfort and usability in his clothing. 𝖍𝖔𝖒𝖊𝖑𝖆𝖓𝖉 // home is not a place, it's a feeling. but all I feel when I think of home is 𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙙

I chose images that emulated Valen's childhood home where he grew up in northern California. His childhood isn't something he'd consider good; his dad, Callen, was abusive and violent, while his mom, Salome, tried to protect Valen and couldn't. Their home, which resembled the top left picture, was a place with a lot of yelling and anxiety and broken things. Valen doesn't remember it fondly.

The county that he lived in was old, leaning towards being nostalgic but missing the mark and instead was just suffocating. The church was where his mom took him when he was young; it was a moment of respite away from Callen. He does remember that fondly. But it feels like too much of Valen's soul was taken by that place, soaked into the very foundations of the buildings he hurt most in. He knows his bones will ache if he ever returns, forced to again see the chipped paint and dry grass and the old, dark bloodstains seeped into the wood

Thank you Nes <3 my main ship, otp: sun and moon with Rin have an entire board all to themselves ehehfhdks Nathan and Valen are a couple of sweethearts, very intimate and affectionate with each other. Physical affection is Valen's favorite way of showing love. These are a little bit spicy but it's tempered by how much they love each other - it all just becomes sorta sweet <3
