it makes me sad because there are some character DESIGNS from the series that i think are FUCKING AWESOME and usually the art style works in their favor, but the thing as a whole is just. strange in a bad way

especially because i've seen other manga/anime series with a similar cartoony, exaggerated style that just did it A Lot Better in my opinion. like soul eater!!!!!!!! that's probably the closest comparison i can make but soul eater is sooooooooooo nice to look at, while looking at practically anything from one piece just loses me

i'm actually sorry but that "how can people watch one piece when it looks Like That" post is so real because i keep seeing like screenshots of character deaths or other moments that are supposed to be genuinely sad and i just cant take them seriously because every character looks like this while crying:
