Mount Derby High

NONE OF THIS HAS ANY MALICIOUS INTENT, THIS IS SIMPLY GATHERING INFORMATION INTO ONE PLACE.

After a tragedy in Mount Derby High, Wisconsin; this is all the information I've been able to gather.

The MHASD (Mount Horeb Area School District) is a k12 (kindergarten 'til grade 12) school district, consisting of 2 kindergartens, a primary center (grades 1 & 2), an intermediate center (grades 3, 4 & 5), a middle school (grades 6, 7 & 8) and a high school (grades 9, 10, 11 & 12).

(Unofficial) Timeline of events:

(Throughout all of this time, Haglund never entered any of the buildings; but did fire shots.)

Before 11 AM on Wednesday the 1st of May 2024, the MHASD texted parents to alert them of a shooter with a rifle being present on the campus. Haglund had come onto the school premises with a pellet gun.

Police asked Haglund to drop the gun, to which he responded by pointing the gun at the officers. Then, Haglund was shot dead. According to the Daily Mail, some time before 11:15.

At 11:16, the school was put on full lockdown.

At 11:33, the MHASD posted on Facebook "Community members, there has been an active shooter at our middle school this morning. The individual did not breach entryway. Police department is helping to scope out our building to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Please do not come to the middle school. We are in the process of activating our reunification plan and further details will be provided."

At roughly the same time, the district made a second post "Vikings, at 11:16 a.m. this morning, the District is on full lockdown. Please do not come onto school campus. We will direct you with further instructions as soon as possible. The safety and security of our students and staff is paramount. We are following our emergency protocols. We will update you when we have more information to share."

At 11:47, the district said the students were still in lockdown and that they "will remain in hard lockdown throughout all of our buildings." Officials added that law enforcement is on the scene and "circulating throughout the middle school to confirm the safety of all students." -directly quoted from the Mirror

At approximately 12:00 (noon), a final post was made "An initial search of the middle school has not yielded additional suspects. As importantly, we have no reports of individuals being harmed, with the exception of the alleged assailant. Intermediate center students evacuated. There was no threat at that location. Buses are aware and preparing to escort them to our reunification site. we will be updating you with details shortly. We are in the process right now of a systematic release of middle school students to use restrooms interior to the middle school. They are not being released at this time."

Over the following hour, students were released to their relatives in groups, the lockdown measures easing.

Damian Haglund

Haglund's personal website, Character AI account, Youtube channel, X (Twitter) account, TikTok account and Gmail: @/FritzscheLetvan.

Damian Haglund was a 14 year old (born between 2009-2010), male, 8th-grade student of Mount Horeb Middle School.

He had a code name for the shooting, which was supposed to be carried out on May 1st (likely being a reference to Zero Day), 'NVK'. Which stood for 'Nationale Volks Kampfendersocialismus', which is German for 'National People's Struggle for Socialism'. He referenced this on his website, twice.

From a tweet he made, we hear him speak about harassment he'd been experiencing in school for liking the movie Elephant (2003). Though, from his general online activity, we can see that he often struggled with feeling alone, both with having no hope romantically ('and I'll never get to have this moment with someone, I know that I am different, and unsuitable, yet I am afraid to tell the society.' -'Elephant' page) and feeling different to others ('I don't feel bullied when I'm at school, but when I'm there I feel so..out of place, left out.' -'Popularity' page). Throughout his activity, we can see that despite showing anger and dislike to those around him, he still was able to feel sympathy ('Last night I watched a 9/11 phone call video, I'll be honest it drove me to tears, haven't cried in a while, maybe I just avoid tragic stuff.
