and actually here's a real issue i have: in the season of unnecessary cartel involvement and weird treatment of a latino character's unresolved catholic guilt/terrible choices around the depiction of his parenting and latina councilwoman villain and comparing a black girl to a DOG and traumatizing her AND a black man over and over and over and choosing to bring the bigot captain back at all for the drama...

it is SUCH a choice to (1) continue to not explicitly address tommy's past at all, especially considering that they are actively bringing back s2 issues anyway and (2) to use tommy's (cis white guy) Victimhood as the vehicle to reintroduce gerrard as a bad guy when hen and chim - who were shat on by both gerrard AND tommy, and who will continue to be targeted by gerrard - are RIGHT THERE to discuss him, especially considering chim's confrontation with him in 7x09 ... it's really something!

I’m not going to tell you how to feel about “wasting time” on the show but I just think there’s value in something that gave you joy and enjoyment even as temporary as it was I have my fair share of shows that I dropped and stop watching but if I enjoy it once ? Heyy you dont have to answer just want to say I sent you a couple anons earlier in the season trying to encourage positivity about the storylines until the season is done when you were being understandably negative. because it might go somewhere interesting and tim did work on s1-4 and they were fine/not lone star ish. just know I feel like boo boo the fool lmao. I know you probably dont feel vindicated at all but you really clocked how bad this would be from before the season even starting lol

Horror books? 👀👀 I have SO many!! Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell, and it’s prequel The Church Beneath the Roots are some of my all time favourites! The September House by Carissa Orlando is a delight and my favourite read from 2023. Mary by Nat Cassidy is a behemoth of female rage and cult horror that I was completely hooked by, and I’m still thinking about that one. Slewfoot by Brom is mild horror but an amazing historical witchcraft read!

I could go on and on with book recs lmao but I’ll try not to throw a million books at you

Oh i also LOVE the Cyrus Haven series by Michael Robotham, and the fourth book is coming out in July. and Small Game by Blair Braverman was really good-it’s not thriller per se but it has thriller/suspense adjacent vibes
