Gilmore Girls Update

(I am now about halfway into the second season)

I would like to begin with what the hell is the dad from This Is Us doing on this show lmao

I am glad Lorelai did not marry Max. It was super predictable and it would have been such a mess tbh.

It’s so obvious that Luke is her man but I guess they want a bit of a slow burn which I totally get.

I’m not entirely sure how to feel about Emily and Lorelai’s relationship (mainly due to my own abusive mother trauma but I digress).

Dean is kind of a bitch boy. Like he’s kind of really annoying about everything. He can’t even handle being in a mildly uncomfortable situation without totally flipping out which is just an annoying trait.

Jesse is obviously there to fuel Rory’s bad boy era which I totally stan. What can I say? I’m a sucker for drama.

The main thing I love about this show is the witty banter. I love good, quick banter and I am glad to watch a show with so much of it.

P.s. Michel is so gay-coded and it’s kind of funny that they pretend he’s isn’t.

Gilmore Girls Update

(I am halfway through the first season btw)

The lack of Black people ANYWHERE in this show makes it nearly unwatchable

Rory and Lorelai’s relationship is very cute especially the way they trust each other to make decisions for the good of them both.

Sookie is sweet but makes me sad sometimes because she seems lonely and like kinda desperate sometimes. It’s apparent that she prioritizes her proximity to Lorelai more than anything because she doesn’t have anything else.

I like that Rory usually makes pretty sound decisions and tries not to follow what everyone else is doing because it sometimes gives me anxiety watching young girls make reckless decisions. (Idk trauma maybe)

Dean is ok but I don’t feel like he has Rory’s best interests at heart or that he’s as invested in their relationship. Like the dance thing was annoying to watch because he made it seem like he didn’t care if they went or not despite knowing how important it was to Rory. Idk I just felt like that was a red flag.

Max and Lorelai are cute but it’s kind of obvious they’re not endgame which is fine. I feel like he’s a placeholder anyway. Kinda like the “nice guy” who is sensitive and says the right things but just not the one for the main girl.

Luke’s whole grumpy old guy routine is getting kind of old. Being the town grump who is sweet sometimes doesn’t really work on men idk. It just repels me for some reason but I think it gets Lorelai’s attention so I guess it’s working for him.

I feel so bad for Lane anytime she’s on screen like wow her family situation is really bad. That’s all I can say about that because it is kind of triggering to think about.

All in all, this show is better than I thought and it gives a very cozy/fall vibe but the diversity is SERIOUSLY lacking. It’s unbelievable.
