Me: Wow, the Netflix ATLA was better than what I expected. Indeed, it felt too rushed, probably because they were asked to do only 8 episodes like everything in the platform; but they were still able to capture the feeling of the original, and it was an enjoyable show. Not to mention the effects, those were so well done, especially Zuko fire kicks, I loved those.

On my recent cabbage merchant art someone commented on this man’s sheer resilience and how he was the Sisyphus of ATLA and that inspired me.

I'm halfway through atla live action and what i've been really loving are side stories that show lives of ordinary people with the main characters being out of the picture:

- the massacre of the airbenders in the Southern Air Temple

- a little group of Fire Nation rebels willing to kill Ozai

- the prison guard from Omashu confronting Iroh and saying how his actions impacted people's lives

This small bits really show you how big the world is. And that no matter how painful the main characters stories are, there will always be more people whom you will never hear about, but whose sucrifice is no less.
