Rae/Heyhay Questions

What happened to Icarus's birds?? We know Rae said he'd take care of them, but with the birds being wacked and Icarus whole memory type thing, what would happen with that.

Sherb and I talked about this a bit and landed on the birds seeking out Rae and he builds an aviary for the strange new little friends following him around. I might even write a fic for it!

Heyhay how long did the scrapbook (shown at the end) take to be made?

I worked on it for nearly a month and a half between organizing with the artists and making it myself!

How did you come up with Vaeh's Name?

It's from Fenris' sister Nevaeh!

Will you continue to cosplay the characters after this?

Absolutely!

To Rae/Hayhay: what was your favorite memory to make in the Always Remember Book?

I think probably all of the wedding details. I loved talking with my friends to plan out the details and outfits SO MUCH and a lot of the poses are based on my own wedding photos!

Are there any plot lines that you wish you could have done or explored more in depth, but couldn't due to time?

We initially had some ideas for finding a few more Telchin temples, including Project Protetus. I really like building the temple/facilities so that would have been fun!!

How did lore planning/pre stream work?

We usually plan out rough ideas for a stream in dms and then meet 30 minutes before a stream to go over everything, dry run some things like flight paths, and do sound checks!

Out of all the characters on fable smp, which one do you think you could win in a fight against?

Will we see other versions of the fable characters in other smp's like Bound?

If your character didn’t ascend, what would they be the god of? And if they did ascend, were there any other domains they could have been the god of other than the domain they got?

Rae's took FOREVER to actually land on. I was really stuck on wanting something that felt more correct than Knowledge and we tossed around a lot of ideas until landing on Wonder.

How much of the relationship constellation was planned?

Literally only Raax and Ocie's original partners (Rust, Jerry, Shawn) were planned! The others came about naturally as the lore progressed.

Did Rae ever get better at baking/cooking?

YES! At least slightly-

How old is Rae in the time period that Rye made in Rae’s epilogue

Not an exact age for Rae, but his epilogue takes place when Vaeh is roughly 4-5 years old.

The first two seasons have “names” (endstone reset and skulk reset) but what would be season three’s?

I like to think it'd be called the "Last Reset"

What was that one gold aura building near the temple of creation in S1?

It was a build from Sherb's hardcore world at that time!

Why did Rae remember Icarus? I thought everyone was supposed to forget but I might’ve misunderstood

Rae remembers Icarus as a child up until when Icarus' first death would have been! Isla would also remember Icarusa as a child as well.

Was the release me book from season one written by fable?

Yes!

What is Haley? She came back from the dead but no body ever said if Midas made her come back or if she was a god.

Midas brought her back, switching her and Fable's places so he would go back into Purgatory

Why couldn’t Haley see quixis’ changes from purgatory?(and fable)

There is no record of Quixis in the Akashic Records. This is also why Icarus is missing from the records in Rae's epilogue!

Are you guys gonna do another smp where its everyone as the same cast?

Nope, not with this exact cast at this time, but we all are on a bunch of other smps you can check out! Mer, Bound, Siege, and more!

Is there a reason behind all of the seeds you use in Minecraft? Or is it just the first biome that pops up is the new setting for the season?

We actually look really hard for a good world seed that we like. For season 3, we really wanted a good spot that the tree could be near the ocean and this seed worked out great for that!

Will we be able to have a world file of S3?

Batman's Bird Watching Scrapbook

This fic for the @batfam-big-bang was written for @jube-art's AU concept and artwork. The way the fic is done up, it just... it would be way too much work to post all 35 chapters on tumblr, so you get the first one, and the AO3 links. So far, the first 4 parts are up on AO3.

There are two versions of this fic.

Gotham Gazette April 5, 2009 Traveling circus comes to Gotham by Bill Finger

Though known to many as a dreary city, Gotham does have its bright spots. Yesterday afternoon, Haly's International Traveling Circus set down in Amusement Mile and set up their striped big top in the fairgrounds on the waterfront.

Performances begin tomorrow at 6 P.M. and are planned to continue daily until the night of April 18th, so be sure to get your ticket to see the show while they're still in town.

Haly's Circus boasts a wide variety of acts, carnival games, and sideshows including performances of trained, live, wild animals. Among those animals are Zitka the Asian elephant, and lions Gunther and Gurbel who perform alongside Wild Wilhelm the Lion Tamer. Haly's talented horseback dancer Linda Grey does the ballet atop Dungi the Zebra.

I had the privilege of being able to interview Mister Haly before opening day, though he was very busy, and am excited to pass on some of the highlights of what he shared with me.

"We've got all sorts here," he said, "all your standard circus folk, like Sando the strongman, Pedro the dwarf, our knife-thrower Zane and his lovely assistant Zephyr, a fabulously talented group of fire-dancers, as well as the greatest menagerie of clowns you'll find in any traveling circus around the world, if I do say so myself."

I asked him what made his circus special, and Mr. Haley was more than happy to answer me. "Well, sir, our circus may have many acts you've seen before, contortionists, and magicians, and a pair of stunning tattooed ladies, but you've never seen anything like the Flying Graysons," he claimed.

The main event at Haly's Circus, the Flying Graysons, Mary, John, and their son, are widely regarded as among the most skilled acrobats on Earth, with their young son, Richard, holding the high esteem of being the youngest acrobat in history capable of successfully performing a quadruple flip on the trapeze.

As if that weren't impressive enough, the Flying Graysons fearlessly perform all their daring trapeze stunts without a net. You'll definitely want to stay until the end to catch their closing act.

Alex : Even in his old age he still loves sports whether it’s his son who’s a professional grindball player. Or his grandkids Amateur soccer game he will be there to support them . He kind of looks kind of like George now but even though the years weren’t kind to him he’s still strong enough to carry the farmer for a short period of time. When he does pass away he wants to be buried in the same cemetery where George and Evelyn were buried and he wants to be buried next to Clara and when the farmer passes away they will be buried right next to them.

Haley : In her old age her memories are starting to fade. But she has a dictionary sized scrapbook of every important moment in her life from her wedding to photos of every major milestone in her kids and grandkids life to help remind her . She is really involved in her family’s life , she often has a hard time remembering her grandchildren’s names. She is a really sweet grandma though she can be quite sassy at times . When she passes away she wants her ashes to be spread around the most beautiful places in the valley.

Emily : she spends a lot of her time sewing whether it’s for her kids , grandkids , or the farmer she loves sewing. Every one in her family has at least a few pieces of clothing made by her. She also likes to care for injured birds . She’s become quite a hippie in her old age . When she does pass away she wants to be brought to the middle of the forest to be reclaimed by nature.

Haley and Emily Headcanons

Before their parents went on their long trip abroad, Haley was the one that moved to Pelican Town with them. Emily had already been living on her own and came to the valley to take care of Haley during their travels and sleeps in their parents' bedroom (which over time she unintentionally made it her own).

Haley has a scrapbook of postcards and photos her parents have sent her. She doesn't think Emily knows she keeps it.

Emily and Haley used to be much closer when they were kids, even though there is a bit of an age gap. They started growing apart as they got older and developed their own interests.

Haley secretly loves the clothes Emily makes—her own interest in fashion stems from Emily but is too stubborn to say so.

Haley is a very picky eater and isn't much of a fan of Emily's cooking, and sometimes won't even eat it. Emily tries hard to balance meals between Haley's pickiness and her own dietary tastes and choices but sometimes it feels like she's just never going to win.

So... he was definitely in boarding school in canon, and fanon Tim running around Crime Alley at all hours of the night at age smol is a little much (let's not even get into fanon portrayals of Jack and Janet Drake), but I've been trying to increase my comic!Tim knowledge, particularly early days, so I can tell you that in A Lonely Place of Dying:

Tim followed and took pictures of Batman fighting The Ravager when Tim was 13*, 100% still child-aged.

Also, I would argue that it's very hard to tell from these panels if all of these are newspaper clippings. Especially since some of them are framed, or depicted with the same "photo" border that the picture of Tim at the circus:

Also, it's not fanon stalker Tim, but Tim breaking into Dick's apartment to track him down is one thing, perfectly normal Bat behavior

...but opening Dick's secret safe to rip pages out of his scrapbook is some stalker shit (in the previous issue, basically four pages earlier, he sees a paper on Dick's desk and figures out where Dick's run off to, so aside from DC hating continuity, there's no reason for Tim to rip pages out of Dick's scrapbook except he's a little stalker)

“Has Aaron ever told you how we met?” 

“I know you two met in high school, but that’s about the extent of it.” 

Haley laughs and puts her drink down. “You’re in for a real treat, then. Come with me.” 

It’s one of those afternoons in which Aaron’s taken Jack to go have some fun for a little while, leaving you and Haley at the house. It’s been nice to rest while your shoulder slowly knits together again, nice to chat and channel surf. Really, it’s been nice to have a friend at all. 

She leads you to the garage, where built-ins support stacked boxes all the way to the rafters. There’s so much stuff. A few boxes are on the floor, packed with a few George Washington University sweatshirts, a law textbook, and a few framed photos of Jack. 

You’d hazard a guess that’s close to the last box Aaron has here. 

Haley bypasses it in favor of a more aged box on the back. She becomes you over and unearths it, opening it. You are by no means prepared for what awaits you. 

The box is full of faded framed photos and stacked scrapbooks, some with Haley’s handwriting on the front and others with typeset. Haley pulls one scrapbook in particular, the pages warped with age and stuffed with various momentos. 

“This is the first one I ever made, starting the spring of my freshman year of high school. Aaron shows up…” She flips through the pages. They crackle under her fingers. “...here.” 

She turns the book and you take it in your hand, balancing the bottom while she bears the weight. As always, her thoughtful conscientiousness almost brings a smile to your face. 

In the scrapbook, little polaroids litter one side, while the other has a playbill cover. A “Players” page is pasted in, with two names left uncovered by doodles.

One of the photos catches your eye. “Is that…?” 

“Aaron in tights and a pirate hat? Yes.” 

This is gold. 

You bring the book closer to you and flip through it carefully with Haley’s help, finding more evidence of Aaron’s brief stint as a thespian. He’s undeniably adorable as a teenager. He looks different, of course, but between the hair and the eyes - 

And that smile 

You recognize the man you’ve come to know. 

Haley, of course, is also adorable. The mid-eighties look cute on her. She looks mostly the same as she does now. Her jawline is more defined, the beginnings of smile lines starting to form around her eyes and mouth, but those are only indicators of the twenty-five years between the photo and the woman before you. 

“If you tell him I showed you this, no I didn’t.” 

You laugh, passing the book back to her. “Scout’s Honor. Total silence. I will, however, require copies of these for blackmail purposes.” 

She rolls her eyes. “Over my dead body, darling.” 

You look around for a moment before asking. “So… what exactly does that have to do with how you met?” 

“I prefer the way he tells it,” she says, “because when I tell it I look like I’m padding my ego, but…”

Her blue eyes wander as she tells you about the boy who landed in the wrong classroom on August 20th, 1985 at 2:13pm, as if she’s seeing it as she’s telling the story. Maybe she is. 

The nameless senior was tall, lanky, and looked rather brittle. He hadn’t grown into his limbs yet and there’s a hawkish look in his eye. He met Haley’s curious gaze. She smiled at him. 

It’s only a moment before the boy leaves for the right classroom. 

“He had the building number wrong. It’s no surprise, really. Our schedules were copied by hand, as copy machines were expensive. The guidance counselor’s handwriting was nearly illegible, but it sealed our fates.” 

She goes on to tell you that the boy came back the next day, enrolled in the class for the duration of the semester. 

“He then, bravely, became the worst third pirate in the history of theatre just to impress me.” She pauses, a little pensive. “He told me a couple of years ago that the day came into the wrong classroom was the same day he knew he was going to marry me.” 

The admission brings a flush to her cheeks and a fond smile to her lips. You can see the affection written all over her as she recalls the memory. She shakes her head and puts the scrapbook back, closing the box and leading you out of the garage. 

“We started dating when the show closed. It was silly, of course, and very high school, as relationships went. We only kept going because he was so close for college - just over the bridge into the district.” 

You follow her back into the house. “Did you guys ever break up?” 

She snorts. “All the time.” 

That makes you laugh. You can hardly picture it. 

“I’m sure you can imagine how rational and reasonable I was at sixteen,” she says, her voice full of jest. “I put him through hell, but Aaron was always impossibly patient with me, even and especially when I didn’t deserve it.” 

“Really?”

“Really. I know he’s probably...not that way at work, but even through all of this -” she gestures vaguely to the air around you and you know she means the divorce. “- he’s always been that way with me.” 

You’ve seen Hotch at home now more than a few times and it’s been illuminating to see the changes in him as he crosses the threshold. Reconciling those differences in him, knowing Haley better, it all paints a layered, detailed portrait of someone you already care about. 

Haley catches your attention again when she speaks. “I’m glad he has people watching out for him.” There’s a strange, almost sad, smile on her face. “He gets lonely.”

When Aaron pulls up in the driveway, you and Haley are stuck watching whatever movie you landed on when you got to talking, too attached to give it up. 

The door opens and Aaron sets Jack on his feet, helping him with the tiny zipper on his coat before attending to his own. 

“How was your day, boys?” Haley gets up and goes to the kitchen, where you know a little tupperware full of cut fruit waits for Jack.

You offer him a little wave as he catches sight of you and processes your presence. Hey. 

“Well,” he says. “How was your day, Jack? Want to tell Mom about it?” 

The pass-off is funny to you, but you suspect Aaron doesn’t want to oversell it. 

“So fun!” He runs and jumps onto the couch as Haley rounds the corner. 

Her eyes are bright, animated, when she asks, “What did you and Daddy do?” She sits next to her son, her feet pulled under her as she leans on the back of the couch. 

As Jack relays the events of the afternoon, there’s an odd moment when Aaron catches himself. He reaches down to ruffle Haley’s hair, but freezes with his hand outstretched. You can see the wheels turning in his head and you almost feel bad for catching him at all. 

HIs hand closes and he shoves it into his pocket before he sits down in the armchair beside your end of the couch with a sigh. You pretend to be completely focused on Jack, so as to not embarrass him. 

“So,” he asks you. You turn. “How was your day?” 

There’s a moment where you share a little look, maybe even a laugh. 

“Good. My day was good.” 

“Good.”

Oh they’re besties. They have movie nights. And there are times where Jack and Aaron come home from soccer and Jess and you are on the couch. You have face masks on and have painted your nails. And when the boys come home Jack wants to join in. So you put a face mask on him and he picks blue for his nails and then you coerce Aaron into joining in. And Jack begs him to get blue nails too because he wants to match. So Aaron gets his toes pinted because blue finger nails don’t adhere to the dress code. But you take plenty of pictures. He starts out broad. He has one book for him and his brother when they were kids, he has one for his relationship with Haley, he has a him, Haley, jack one, etc

The more time he spends with the team, the more specific it becomes. I'm not shitting you when I say he has a scrapbook for each member of the team that is SPECIFICALLY THEMED for said person. He also has little notes written in the books.

Whenever something happens to someone, it takes him a while to add to the scrapbook. He didn't touch the one of him Haley and jack for a long time. Same with the Elle and Gideon one.
