"Family?" Her eyebrows raised, interest piqued completely now. The smell of ash in her magic makes her wonder - and if there's family around, she wonders if they'll smell the same. It does make her mouth water, saliva ready to coat hidden fangs.

"Preferred scene - usually my job." A soft laugh here, trying to show the art of the perfect small talk - as much as it annoys her. "I work at the library. Anywhere with books - all types, though I will say the older, the more antique the better. There's just something about history and the smell of the dust settling on yellow pages."

She lifts her own glass, allowing her smile to crinkle the edges of her eyes. "I do try."

She gives a slight nod at her answer. “Neither, just here for familial reasons.” she had been asked to attend, told it would look good to be seen in a public event. And after the last she is prepared in case things went south, one of the benefits of fire running through your very bones, the destruction was near impossible to avoid no matter what you happened to be. The thought makes her frown a little, what was she, some fucking off-brand human torch? Sometimes she’d really just like to understand how her own brain worked.

She adjusts to look at her fully. “If this isn’t your normal thing, what is your preferred scene?” she asks in interest, most of her night has been spent wandering alone, Riven was meant to be here, she’s yet to run into him though. She could just text him, but something about texting in an art gallery seems a little rude. People had put in a lot of effort for their work, disregarding it to stare at an LED screen just makes her feel disrespectful. The device in her coat pocket and shut off.

She takes another drink from the glass. The woman beside her looks every bit capable of buying one of the pieces and she has to wonder what brought her over with an offering of wine. But Casey herself wasn’t exactly social unless there was some form of gain in it so perhaps it was just considered normal to do. “Thank you for the wine, by the way, that was kind of you.”
