Crimes: Drawing in unsuspecting victims with elaborate analyses and meta, and then slamming them with Es and Kazui emotions, T1 guilties angst, and Kotoko’s attacks!! Also, putting a round of ocs through brand new milgram horrors at @milgrammaintenance (Think of the children!) So, wardens, what will it be?

i have wanted to read a grimmichi fic about grimmjow reluctantly babysitting (and eventually bonding with) kazui for so long, i drew about it 🥲💕 posting to celebrate the nanosecond of grimmjow crumbs we got last week 🙏

hi i just wanted to mention w/ your angst hcs that kotoko did actually say she didn’t try to kill any of the guilty prisoners! in her t2 voice lines she says that since milgram is a 3 trial system, she only wanted to “rough them up.” not to mention that in a tl convo she gets on kazui’s ass for stopping her but (unless i’m missing smthn) she never says anything to shidou, which i think implies that even if she was attacking them, she doesn’t mind them receiving medical attention bc she doesn’t actually want them to die. i rlly love you’re writing btw!! i especially adore how you wrote kazui 💖💖

The way she words it is really interesting because she didn't spare them for her own reasons, but for Milgram/Es' sake. I'm so intrigued by her mix of working outside of authority while still bending over backwards for it within Milgram 🤔 And I guess her attitude towards Mikoto may be different because of his (seeming) lack of gray area in his murders, and capability to harm Es. And you're right! She never has any problem with Shidou, or attempted to finish the job, so she definitely wanted the others to recover, huh...

I'm so glad my headcanon works hehe -- though, instead of worrying about taking another life, her guilt stems from failing her righteous duty and getting in the way of justice, which is a very cool twist!

Prisoner 002: Iwamoto Daisuke - Trial 2

General info

Verdict: INNOCENT

Physical changes: Daisuke now wears a long sleeved black shirt with neon green stripes under his uniform and a bejeweled choker over his collar. The choker was a gift from his friend, a black ribbon with an emerald charm hanging by the middle. Along with his sport shoes, he somehow manages to make his uniform look fashionable.

Behavioral changes: He's stopped flirting with the women in Milgram and become more timid. He was certain he'd be voted guilty (was hoping for it), so he isn't sure what to do with himself now. He steers clear of the guilty prisoners though. Especially Ichiro after the disastrous attempt of trying to keep him from self-harming.

He had a lot of conflicting thoughts upon coming to Milgram, and all of them were affirmed thanks to his verdict. Since he still has the privilege of requesting for things, he's decided to indulge himself while he still can. He made a request for an item (his choker) from his house to be retrieved and is now smoking up to three cigarettes a day. He's not coping well for someone who was voted innocent.

Canon Milgram song cover: Tear drop (He would cover Half in the first trial, so this time he's honoring his Yuno kinnie side adjksjdsksdsk. Yuno's displeasure towards her verdict can kind of resonate with Daisuke since he was so sure he would be voted guilty, but their reasons for feeling that way are completely different.)

DECO*27 song cover: Salamander (The melody is super catchy, and the lyrics fit his feelings for his friend quite well actually. Haha.)

Non-DECO*27 vocaloid song cover: Casino by Azari (He seems too babygirl to be taken seriously, but I'm still trying to uphold his shadiness. :') Its actually a big part of his life and what lead up to his crime.)

MV description: Most frames of the MV are filled with dull grey and browns, but with yellow and orange glows for effect. Daisuke's signature neon green is nowhere to be found. The music is upbeat and catchy just like the first MV, but takes on a more emotional note by the end.

The MV starts with a scene of people drinking and laughing in a bar. Daisuke sits by one of the bar stools, taking a sip from his glass. The black-haired man from the first MV sits beside him, with his facial details drawn on this time. Daisuke stares at the man from the corner of his eyes, but the man keeps his gaze firmly on the polished table.

The camera cuts to the scene of the people hanging out by the bar, and then to Daisuke and the man, switching between the two scenes rapidly. Daisuke leans closer to the man, eventually resting his head on the man's shoulder. Then the camera cuts again.

Booze. Orange candy. A wad of cash being flipped. A faceless man kneels on the dingy floor, slouching in despair with chains around his hands and neck. Daisuke puts one of the orange candies into his mouth and a burst of yellow and orange fills the frame, taking over the once-dull surroundings. The man grins, the chains fading away as he gets up and starts to dance. Daisuke dances along with a laugh.

The scene changes to the man sitting by the roof of a tall building, a gun vaguely concealed underneath his coat. Another man walking down the streets, bags of white powder in his pockets. A woman sitting by a fancy table, hands clasped over documents and blurred photos. The people that were in the bar, having a celebratory toast.

The camera cuts to Daisuke, breathing heavily with blood splattered across his face. The man kneels down in front of him and gently pushes a pair of pink sunglasses onto his face. Daisuke smiles a little.

Then he's walking down the street with the man behind him. A close-up of Daisuke smiling happily, still wearing his sunglasses. The camera then pans out to show that the man is gone. Daisuke turns around and notices, running back up the street to look for the man. He finds the man standing in an alleyway and runs forward to catch up to him, but the man disappears. He ends up grasping at thin air.

Daisuke stumbles in shock and his sunglasses clatter to the floor. He looks up at the camera and scowls. He then pulls out a gun from his pocket and shoots at the camera. The screen cracks. End.

Author's notes

There was no meaning behind the candies being orange when I came up with Daisuke's first MV. But after considering that orange would be a good fit for Daisuke's second signature colour, that little details ties up nicely. :D I'm great at planning, I swear.

This is such a good theory, the character pairs are so cool!! 😤 I hope you don't mind a small addition but I wanted to include some of the official art --

I've seen versions with slightly a different separation of prisoners: everyone on the left would be considered a murderer by law, while those on the right couldn't be held accountable legally. (Kotoko's still counts as "indirect" because she said in her first vd she would get off with justifiable self-defense back in the real world, so she's not legally a murderer)

has anyone pointed this out yet it seems like when it comes to prisoner pairs they're split between direct and indirect murders

haruka / yuno: direct / indirect (strangling that girl from his mvs / abortion)

fuuta / muu: indirect / direct (either suicide because of cyberbullying or murdered using the address fuuta doxxed / stabbing rei)

kazui / amane: indirect / direct (unintentionally driving hinako to kill herself / bludgeoning someone to death)

the exceptions are mikoto / kotoko of which both of them are direct (bludgeoning to death / beating) and shidou / mahiru, because shidou is a cryptic mf and we don't actually know for sure whether he actually did organ harvesting or just has an insane amount of medical guilt

though considering the fact that kotokoto's murders are both direct that leads me to believe shidou's crimes might not be direct murders unlike what he wants us to believe. so we'd have kotokoto both being direct, and then shidou/mahiru both being indirect, and that way it balances pretty cleanly into 5 direct murders and 5 indirect murders overall

(though i am biased towards shidou and disinclined to believe the organ harvesting theory in the first place)

So im making a presentation on personality disorders and sharing the characters i think could have them. and ive realized. theres so many milgram characters who line up with the symptoms.

Like Muu having npd is an obvious one, but also on a much deeper level then ppl might realize. like shes not just arrogant, she has that defensive reaction to criticism and the distress that comes with being diminished.

And Mahiru with bpd. the instability in her relationships, the attachment issues, her whole push and pull break up situation with her bf, all of it!!

Yuno is so schizoid coded too. her whole timeline with kazui where shes like "you lie to protect yourself, but i dont care about others or myself." her coldness theming, and her indifference to a lot of things happening.

Then Haruka with dpd. the inability to take care of himself, shown by his reliance on muu. his uncertainty with a lot of things. i haven't looked into this one as much yet so i dont have many examples but. yeah.

Am I the only one who noticed that in the S2 cover art, the Forgiven prisoners are facing towards the door, while the Unforgiven ones are facing away from it?

Ahh yes!! It really is such a cool detail!! It takes the idea of Es/us getting in their heads and makes it something very tangible 👀

The innocent prisoners are comfortable showing us their thoughts: Haruka looks like he's checking you're still there following him. Yuno isn't happy about it, but she still wants to show you something to prove her point. Muu can keep hands behind her back because she hasn't done anything wrong, see? Regardless of Shidou’s emotions for what's through the door, he's putting on gloves to administer care, since that's what he'll use this opportunity for. In his teasers, Kazui seems eager to get something off his chest, and out of everyone he looks the most purposeful at leading you inside.

Meanwhile, guilty Fuuta and Mahiru have their backs to the mindscape. I think it's interesting that theyre not trying to stop us from going in -- it looks more like they themselves don’t want to spend any more time in their own head. They're afraid of us, and are shielding their prominent injuries (eye and arm). Although Kotoko may have been the one to actually attack, I absolutely love how well the art conveys this was our fault. They’re in so much pain because of us.

I'm curious if, given their t2 changes and the fact they weren't physically injured, Amane and Mikoto will end up looking more angry than scared...

There were some cute interactions with the other characters (both in and out of Milgram) and I was wondering some of your thoughts on Amane’s relationships with them. We got a bit of content for her and Fuuta, comments about Mahiru and Yuno, and now some... interesting info about Kotoko -- how do you think she feels about them and the others we don't get to see?

Sorry for the delay. Consider my brain picked.

We know Amane looks down on Fuuta, but she also wants to help. I believe she genuinely means it. I like how they traded blows in that one timeline ("If you don't eat your meat, you won't get any bigger"). It reads like sibling bickering. (Stopping self from talking more about those two)

Mahiru's birthday timeline... easy to take as a threat, but it feels more like a warning. Maybe I'm projecting, but too many times I've said things that were taken in a different way. Anyway, I think Amane really does like Mahiru. That question about who she'd have in her family... she could have said "no one" just as easily as she did for other questions.

Yuno... I mean, their last conversation was civil if nothing else. Even when Amane said, "Don't go out of your way to sit close to me. Go away," she talked when Yuno persisted.

Kotoko is- *bzzt* ...I'll put a pin in that.

As for the others...

I don't think Haruka and Amane ever had a timeline conversation. Haruka was scared of Amane, but not anymore. Anything I say about Amane here would be conjecture, but I feel like she might want to help Haruka like she helped Fuuta. As for the "this will not end well" drawing, I feel like it wouldn't end well for Amane.

No idea about Muu beyond "Muu likes nice things and cute things". Amane secretly likes these things too and uses Muu as a proxy. Maybe Muu could get Amane to open herself up to indulgence.

We all know Amane dislikes Shidou. I wonder how that'll play out in trial 3. Maybe Amane calms down and ignores Shidou. If she attacks, I don't think Shidou will just stand there and take it. He knows Amane is hostile, and he has the means to protect himself. Failing that, there are other free, uninjured people around to intervene.

I haven't quite grasped Amane's dynamic with Kazui, but at least he doesn't seem to look down on her?

And finally, the good ol' blunt force trauma duo. I wonder what Amane thinks of John's noises keeping her awake at night. I guess she doesn't mind that much if she still talks to Mikoto after that. (Need to figure out the order of the timeline convos that the Minigrams are based on)

tysm! someone kindly messaged me about it beforehand and let's just say i am not feeling well. going to use this ask as an excuse to talk about my thoughts on them because i have too many...!

spoilers below the cut!!

judging from the above shot this gif reads to me like he's waking up mahiru with the confetti. you know how towards the end of mahiru's t1 song she's fallen asleep? since she's wearing the birdcage outfit i image love you takes place right after that moment.

also i will just say that it's absolutely sickening if mahiru's boyfriend died on her birthday like honeyfizzley said. not only is that traumatizing but remember that one timeline conversation where, on mahiru's birthday, amane tells mahiru she'll die soon? if the lover's suicide theory is correct then like... that is the most gut-wrenching foreshadowing possible.

(on a lighter note, mahiru and i share the same birthday! you can probably imagine my reaction when i found that out, went to check her birthday timeline, and saw the convo with her and amane...)

the head tilt at the end is also very cute to me! i really really want to like mahiru's boyfriend. it's alot easier to hate him when he's scattered bird feathers but now that he has a face i can't bring myself to slander him.

speaking of his face, i really like his tareme eyes! i have a drafted post about it but droopy eyes in character design tends to signify the character is gentle personality. think haruka, kazui, or even mahiru herself! so, combined with my wishful hopes he's not a bad person, her boyfriend reads as a kind person to me.

another drafted post i had was about what eyes signify in milgram. the only proposal i've seen were that "eyes are the window to the soul" — it represents the prisoner's understanding/connection to the people around them. for instance, kazui feels disconnected from his wife but, for whatever reason, understands the bar lady more. or, for fuuta's case, everyone in dark triad lacks a face except rumerie who fuuta looks to for guidance in every battle.

so, like with shidou's family revealing their eyes, i think it's very interesting how now is the time mahiru's boyfriend reveals his face. if the above theory is correct—heavy emphasis on the if—then it means mahiru only felt connected with her boyfriend on the last day they were together as a couple.

this might be me being stupid but it kind-of looks like mahiru is limping here? like, compared to her boyfriend's full walk cycle, we're only seeing her left foot hop and a small bit of her other one.

i'm really, really curious on what happened between their happy celebration and how they ended up so wrecked. i initally assumed only mahiru was in disrepair because she was tearing through the forest looking for boyfriend. here they're both walking side-by-side.

also adding onto to my lover's suicide theory... neither of them have their shoes on. i don't like where this is going.

someone on twt mentioned that, comparing the gifs with infm, the thumbnail gif will take place in the middle of the mv. i have a feeling it'll be the reveal of her boyfriend's death maybe? possibly? same with inmf showing mu stab rei before cutting to her hatching from the chrysalis.

one of the first similarities i noticed was in their hair 🥴 i noticed ichi got that dad cut and it looks a little shorter, just like isshin’s 🏃🏽‍♀️i know their jaws and facial structure gets increasingly similar as he gets older too & you’re so so so RIGHT!
