I think it's important for ppl to know that drizzt's kid, Brie-Zara/Brienelle Zaharina is named the way she is because Catti named her for her dad and Drizzt named her for HIS dad and it's very cute

was absolutely enamored the first time i saw Frank Holl’s painting and recently got a new set of oil brushes so the obvious next step is to paint over it with Brie-Zara holding her father’s sword (✿◠‿◠)

Hubs and I have talked before about a bg3 dlc and like.

I want Drizzt. I grew up on the Drizzt books, he was in the first games.

But also I has to double check myself to make sure but, according to the timeline, the game takes place in 1492. By this point, Drizzt has a child.

So if we get this, our introduction to Drizzt needs to be like. We get this epic narration and it gets all mysterious and cool. We see Guenhwyvar and she guides us to this room.

And it's just Drizzt having a tea party with Brie-Zara.

That is my request Larian. Drizzt Do'Urden being a Dad. Hand it over. Please. Please I need this--

Thoughts on the Drizzt's Spawn web comic announcement? I personally hope we get at least a little heroic-parent-idol-burning on Briennelle-Zaharina's part, since it's being written by someone other than Bobbyboy, though he apparently has a hand in it.

[[ Hey there, thanks for the question!

I must admit that I'm surprised that Bob's only overseeing it rather than writing it, but I'm relieved that the artist who's doing it gets to determine how to pace the story as well. It’d be an unimaginable pain trying to adapt around Bob and getting his approval about what to cut and what to shorten would be a massive headache. Given how possessive Bob is about his stuff though I can't help but wonder if it's a decision dictated to him by WotC. They do own the IP, so I think that's most likely what happened.

I do have some concerns about the comic though, mostly from the meta perspective. First, although I believe that while the comic seeks to bring in a new generation of younger readers to the Drizzt franchise, there’s very little doubt that Bob’s fanbois will be reading it. There’s a scarily large number of them who’ve been so into Catti-brie that they drooled after Bob’s real life daughter, whom Catti is loosely based off of. It wasn’t just like, a distant celebrity crush; a lot of these guys who gave off heavy incel vibes actually stalked her. I’d hope that these people would have the decency not to lust after Brie, who as far as I can tell is a pre-teen or at most, a teenager. However, I do see it as a very real possibility that they would go after the artist for how Brie is portrayed. 

As for my thoughts about the comic itself, I do find it a little strange that the previews refer to the sword that Brie “borrows” as Twinkle, when it is in fact more Vidrinath than Twinkle. Between that and Icingdeath though, while Vidrinath is the more powerful sword, Icingdeath is the more iconic one. I guess maybe Brie grabbed the one that’s more powerful? 

This also begs the question of what Drizzt would be using after Brie runs off with one of his scimitars. His dual-wielding fighting style is central to his image, but given what the recent books have done with his monk training, maybe he’ll be leaning fully into that direction. 

And, of course, as always, I’m worried about what the series might do with/to Artemis, but at the same time I doubt he’d have much of a role, if he appears at all. I would prefer that he didn’t, as I don’t trust anything Bob has a hand in with regards to him anymore, but I also feel that Brie should have her own chance to develop as a character, with her own set of affiliated characters instead of just being an extension of her parents’ story. ]]
