                    jet  mocha.  morning.  people  like  zoe  know  better  than  to  rush,  even  when  she’s  10  minutes  late  for  class  —  but  when  her  phone  buzzes  with  multiple  reminders  for  papers  that  are  due  today,  paired  with  her  morning  mix  playing  on  too  loud  a  volume  in  her  airpods,  she  can’t  help  but  be  frazzled.  when  she  gets  her  order,  she  turns  around  with  a  thwip  of  her  hair,  not  accounting  for  anyone  who  might  be  within  five  feet  from  her.  her  rushing  inevitably  leads  her  to  gracelessly  colliding  with  another  figure,  with  the  lid  of  her  drink  popping  off,  and  suddenly  her  eyes  just  see  pale,  foamy  liquid  and  ice  cubes  in  the  air,  and  a  wet  feeling  along  her  forearms.  “  shit  —  ”  the  harsh  word  escapes  her  in  a  hiss  before  she  gets  a  chance  to  bite  her  tongue.  thank  god  she  likes  iced  coffee.  “  oh  my  god,  i  am  so  sorry,  ”  zoe  exhales,  pink  tinging  her  cheeks  from  the  sheer  embarrassment.  causing  a  scene  (  especially  this  early  in  the  morning  )  isn’t  her  style,  but  that’s  what  she  gets  for  trying  to  multitask  after  waking  up  on  the  wrong  side  of  the  bed.  she  yanks  one  airpod  from  her  ear,  using  the  same  hand  to  pull  several  sheets  of  napkins  from  the  nearest  box  dispenser  she  can  find,  and  meekly  offers,  “  um,  let  me  pay  for  your  dry  cleaning,  i’m  so  sorry.  ”  her  apology’s  once  again  underpinned  by  the  sour  expression  on  her  face,  brows  creased  and  lips  pursed  in  discomfort.  “  if  you  were  going  to  buy  something  —  it’s  on  me,  too.  ”
