One of the biggest issues to address as we turn generations in the US.
Yeah, sure we may have a current conflict with North Korea. But what about an issue that‘s preventing millions of Americans from moving on in their life?
The United States’ $1.4 trillion student loan debt.
This is not another spiel about how we all already know that college is becoming more and more of a scam each year. (Paying thousands of dollars to be taught information that’s not helpful, possibly outdated, and most likely free to obtain online? Ridiculous.)
The issue we need to address is the value of education and the value of a GOOD education. When referring to “good”, I mean an education that a person finds to be helpful, worthwhile, and helps develop them as a person. When looking at how quickly technology is advancing and the economy’s incline towards a freelance economy, it is now impossible to create formal educational curriculums that will readily prepare students for what is to come.
College now seems to only be worth it for those who plan on going into fields that *strictly* require one (i.e., Medicine, Law, engineering...).
What are the first steps?
The choice to not go to college MUST be destigmatized
Primary schools need to begin teaching individuals not general knowledge but also how to TEACH themselves.
We’ve reached a point where the economy is hurt because of how we see “higher” education. Now with millennials and generation X making the majority of the workforce, we are starting to see that going to college guarantees absolutely nothing and it is up to a person’s drive and individual ability that helps get him/her anywhere in life.
You may be a college student. You may soon be a college student. You may be a parent and want your kids to go to college...
It doesn’t matter who you are.
Just ponder this:
If given a choice, who would you hire?
A person with a degree, little to no applicable experience, in debt, and will only work for you if given a higher wage?
or
A person without a degree, little to no applicable experience, and train and educate them on the job for a lower wage?
Feel free to now answer: what is the worth of a degree?

Sometimes you just have to abruptly rebrand yourself. This applies to both life and business.
