FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF KAMLESHWAR SHIV TEMPLE IN KENYA :
Fourth patotsav of Kamleshwar Mahadev Shiv Temple was observed 2nd July 2017. This temple has proved the presence of Shiva in weirdest possible places and mostly difficult to reach. The roads to this temple is difficult but getting better day by day. We performed Yagna, Dhvaja Rohan, Ganesh Puja, Rudrabhishek and homa to the yagna. The devotees of the Iskon temple performed Bhajan during the occasion. Devotees of various communities also joined us to this auspicious occasion. The beauty of the temple is growing each year pass by. We see new faces every time we hold any function there. The locals have been very supportive and we think they are part of our Shiva family. INDORE CITY- AN EXAMPLE OF WOMEN’S LIB IN OUR HISTORY
Indore city was beautified and ruled by Ahilyabai Holkar in the late 17th century. It is a great example of how a woman could change the city from dust to a beautiful town. When she found that her son was not capable of holding onto the crown taking forward the legacy of the family, she decided to spend every penny of her kingdom to build various Shiv temples across India, build schools and monuments and various sources of water and other facilities for her people. The city is mostly very clean with most of the modern amenities but has treasured the valuable monuments of history very well.
Vaishali shah personally liked the city very much as it was a perfect combination of history and modern lifestyle. She saw few Shiv temples, Ganesh temples, laal baugh and old market area. The city has a combination of Maharashtrians, Gujaratis and Rajputs. One of the Shiv temples she visited had an excellent mirror work done and can be seen as an example of this very old art in modern times. Source : goo.gl/9DU3XU

Who is the pop of Hindu religion?
We often forget our roots in religion and how our roots were saved by our beloved Shankaracharya more than two thousand years ago. Vaishali shah met the current Shankaracharya of Kashi and Dwarka, Shree Swarupananadji during Kumbh in Ujjain after having met him earlier during the Allahabad Kumbh. She had known him for more than a decade now and didn’t realize that he has turned 94. It was such a pleasure to find out that he still talks so well and his speech is not affected by his age.She had gone with another bunch of queries relating to the many commercial gods which have sprung up and why we are drifting away from the original Gods like Shiva and Vishnu and their family. He answered very patiently to my research queries. She also met his successor of Kashi Pith Shri Avimukteshwaranandji and had a long discussion about the current development of Hindu religion and its doctrines. The time has come when we should give due respect to our POP of Hindu religion and let the world know who they are. Source : goo.gl/sMxtVx

The Published Book of Vaishali Shah
The Veg Safari by Vaishali Shah describes her amazing journey as a passionate advocate of vegetarianism in Kenya and the detailed reasons put forth by her for the world to embrace vegetarianism. The book explores the compelling need for the world to turn vegetarian today. The choice to turn wholly vegan or vegetarian is not dictated by moral or ethical concerns alone, nor is it an attempt to convince anyone using religious mumbo jumbo. The book presents many case studies to back its claims and the author has spent many years studying the effect of the meat industry.
The Veg Safari - a book by Vaishali Shah. The Veg Safari is an attempt to explore the compelling need for the world to turn vegetarian today. Foremost among the many consequences of a flesh based diet is its effect on one’s health. If that is an individual concern, then the dwindling nature of earth’s precious resources is certainly a cause for collective concern of all nations. The poor nations are hit the hardest as land and water which can be used to eradicate hunger and mal nutrition are diverted to grow fodder for cattle which will eventually end up on the lunch plates of only those who can afford it. Locals can be convinced on the need to move away from animal-based foods if alternate methods can be explained to them. Also cultivating farms and growing more food will improve their own health index as also bring in some revenue and employment.
Planting trees, donating seeds, cultivating vegetables are all helpful in improving the health and productivity of the nation. The book raises various pertinent queries and addresses the concerns of all readers and is backed by case studies that help it to connect with the readers easily. It is a dream to see a healthy, nourished and prosperous Kenya in the not too distant future and this book is an attempt to create that golden future.

THEORY OF KARMA TO GAIN LIBERATION OR MOKSHA :
Life is often compared to a journey and all our relatives and friends are like the fellow travelers we meet on the journey. Some get off before we reach our destination point, still others continue even after we get down. Our Indian religions keep pointing out to this so often. Still we tend to forget this simple truth. Karma, reincarnation, liberation .

AT PEACE WITH ONESELF :
The United Nations has marked 21st of September as the International Day of Peace. It is observed in all the nations all over the world and the practice began in 1981 with the sole aim of promoting peace in the world. The UN Secretary General strikes the Peace Bell to signal the commencement of the celebrations. The Bell was cast using coins donated by delegates from 60 countries and collected by children and presented by Japan to the UN in 1954.
How do we attain the state of being at peace? We need to practice it meticulously. Thích Nhất Hạnh, the Vietnamese monk speaks of mindfulness as the key to finding peace. Every act should be done with a mindful consciousness. Even something as mundane as drinking tea. We need to concentrate on the act and not gulp it down as a chore. This mindfulness becomes a habit if we extend it to all our actions. Then we will think and speak only if there is an absolute need and that too after analyzing whether it will hurt other’s feelings or not. This is one way of developing the state of being at peace. A TOUR TO THE UN IN GENEVA :
The long session of their activities and few meetings about environment related issues enlightened me on how I can take forward my work related to uplifting the local women and add more activities to Kenya Vegetarian Club for the next level. Its time to understand what is important and what action is required to do for locals. My aim of saving the environment through vegetarian diet is actually taken quite seriously at UN too. I saw quite a few banners talking about it all over the center. It was a pleasant surprise to see Gandhiji’s statue in the premises, though I had heard about it earlier but saw it today.

Vegetarian Food Available in Europe -
Western world is sleeping over diet issue for a long time. But increase in various lifestyle diseases have forced them to revisit the issue of diet all over again. It also means that world is moving towards health and wellness unlike earlier time of fire fighting and not fire prevention. Increase of vegan diet, cafe and Resturents all across Europe has made it possible for those who were always complaining of non availability of food while traveling. Gone are the days when one would need to walk miles to find a vegetarian dish in any decent Resturent in affordable price. I found so many such restaurants which only serves vegetarian food and doing extremely well. Not fearing of not having enough customers to pay their rentals. Source : goo.gl/gEzngg

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE FAMILY :
Every year 15th may is observed as the International Day of the Family. Every country has understood the importance of the family in a person’s life. In fact, a family is a place where everyone unwinds, feels natural and also learns to give and give in. Many companies ask details of a candidate’s family before calling them for interviews. This is because sociologists feel a person with a family is more mature and can handle trying situations with calmness. It is a place for emotional and spiritual growth. We learn to adjust and understand other’s needs and also learn to put other’s feelings and needs before ours. An extended family which includes pets is good for our health and growth. I feel sad when I see people sitting at homes or travelling as families they may be together but not really together. Everybody seems to be lost in a world of gadgets. When we were young we used to chat, joke, tease, play simple games but nowadays the only thing that is a constant companion in everyone’s hand is the mobile. Maybe that’s why the United Nations decided to observe an exclusive day as day of the family as we need to be reminded of basic things in life.
It recognizes the importance and the role played by families in shaping an individual’s life and has been observing May 15th as the International Day of the Family with a specific theme for each year. This year it is Families, education and well-being. Education is not limited only to school and college. Life teaches us many experiences and what better place than a family to learn? We need to raise awareness among families about the important role they play in promoting early childhood education. The gift of education is a distant dream for many as many impoverished families see their children as potential income generators and send them away for doing menial tasks when in reality they should be enjoying their carefree childhood by going to schools and studying. This whole year the focus will be on making disadvantaged parents around the world understand the importance of education and the need to educate their children.
