I'm not talking about a bunch of kids making headcanons that Veronica Sawer is bisexual or anything like that (I mean, I personally dislike certain headcanons like this but it's not a big deal or anything.) I'm referring to the people who complain that there isn't enough representation as a whole in musical theatre but will limit themselves to shows with little to no representation in them. It's like, there's nothing stopping these people from either getting into more shows with more lgbt characters or to stop complaining because the fact that there are more than a handful of people that will just watch Dear Evan Hansen on repeat and then say there's no representation on broadway is concerning.

If y'all wanna think that Evan Hansen and Jared Kleinmeme end up getting married or some shit because you want gay representation but don't wanna get into another show then go right on ahead, just don't complain that broadway as a whole doesn't have enough gay characters.

Can you explain why you think JD is given too much love? I do agree in the fact that he's a tad overrated compared to other characters, but he is an amazing character that both the movie and the musical portrayed very well.

Oh no there's no denying that JD is an amazing and fascinating character and I won't lie and say that I don't find myself drawn to his character. I just think that the fandom (mostly the musical one from what I've seen) romanticizes him to a point where they're ignoring all of his character flaws and just seeing him as some attractive, charismatic guy who was just a little too passionate when in reality he was a danger to himself and others to the point where he killed people out of pure spite and was willing to kill the girl he claims to love because she doesn't want to be with a dangerous, mentally unstable person.

Maybe he doesn't get "too much" love from fans like I said and it's more that he receives love for all of the wrong reasons.

Zoe and Evan are a great couple, and the ship is a lot healthier than Tree Bros.

Yeah, that aspect of it was extremely unhealthy but keep in mind that Zoe didn’t want the relationship to be about her brother or the Connor Project or any of that. What Evan did to Zoe was by no means okay but at the same time I don’t see what he did as some ploy to be with her, but it did cause them to be together. You could argue over the fact that he kissed her at the end of If I Could Tell Her but I see that as Evan acting irrationally because of his emotions in that moment. Zoe was good for Evan. She seemed to help with his mental state and it goes the other way around as well. Evan helped Zoe feel some kind of happiness again even outside of the lies. The relationship in itself was fairly healthy and feelings are definitely coming from both sides even at the very end at the orchard. Even if you see the ship as unhealthy you have to admit that it’s WAY more healthy than Tree Bros. Connor was not a good person. He was violent and seemingly delusional. He was verbally and physically aggressive towards his family and especially Zoe. He sees nearly everything as a personal attack on him and resorts to violence as his solution. Connor is not in a safe enough mental state to be in a relationship and would most likely never be mentally stable enough to be in one. People like the idea of what Connor could have been and like to pretend that he’s just some witty depressed kid who’s just a bit rude rather than the extremely toxic person he was.

Bandtrees is definitely the most healthy of any of the ships in this fandom but ya know, these are my unpopular opinions so I guess I can’t be too upset when people disagree with them.
