anyway yeah DELETE YOUR FUCKING ADVERTISING IDS
Android:
Settings ➡️ Google ➡️ all services ➡️ Ads ➡️ Delete advertising ID
(may differ slightly depending on android version and manufacturer firmware. you can't just search settings for "advertising ID" of course 🔪)
iOS:
Settings ➡️ privacy ➡️ tracking ➡️ toggle "allow apps to request to track" to OFF
and ALSO settings ➡️ privacy ➡️ Apple advertising ➡️ toggle "personalized ads" to OFF
more details about the process here via the EFF
#oh man I didn't even realize you had the option to delete that ID!#not that I'd feel confident in it solving the problem but you might as well do what you can#technology#us politics

this chart is what haunts me. there is a massive amount of misinformation driving people to think that the problems Trump talks about solving even exist. without a functioning press, how do you campaign effectively against someone whose voters aren't even living in reality in three months

Men on the left wringing their hands about how we need to be nicer to the poor left-behind Trump voting men and stop telling them they're the bad guys, meanwhile my friend who teaches high school had to give detention to a bunch of boys chanting "her body, our choice!" during lunch and their parents have already complained to her boss.
We are fucking cooked, y'all

What’s also crazy is that the losses likely probably came from people whose only political view is that eggs are too expensive and they voted for a guy whose explicit economic plan is to intentionally cause a major depression

watching abortion ballot measures perform better in certain states than kamala
#it was happening previously but media bubbles and bald faced lies have obviously have made this even worse#I think a large part of the republican wins of my lifetime have been people choosing the 'outsider' to politics#and the democrats are painted as the status quo that isn't working#no matter what they're doing#(mixed of course with the republican calls to racism sexism and white supremacy)#us politics

I've said this before and will say it again: I think we need fundamental shifts in our media, if we're even allowed to have them now, and one of those is that reporters need to start fucking challenging people who say dumb shit. If the big thing is "groceries too expensive" then fucking point out that Trump's tariffs plan would make them more expensive! Harris campaign could've done more of this, but media desperately needed to do more. Challenge the people who want to sit out or vote third party or fucking vote for Trump on Gaza by informing them how much worse he wants to make it and that Netanyahu was putting his thumb on the scales for Trump. We need to get over this idea that every voter's concerns are sacred. The media is supposed to inform people. Fucking inform them. Correct them when they say dumb shit. My experience has been that as much as everyone is in these media bubbles, people do start to think things through when they're made to look bad for it in public. Really stupid that journalism never takes advantage of this.

tbh foreign policy was listed as the least important issue for exit polls, arab and muslim heavy states like minnesota and michigan are not what lost harris the vote, and jill stein got under like one percent. everyone making this about leftists who didnt vote either pro or against is making something out of basically nothing. americans are fundamentally boring and apolitical and above all completely self centered. they do not give a fuck about the suffering of people in palestine or ukraine. they just know that gas was cheaper 4 years ago or whatever. the amount of incredibly normal people i know who arent even right wing so much as just sort of uneducated and incurious about any issues / had no interests beyond like big ten sports or binge drinking or getting ahead at work and getting rich are voting for him not people who agonized over a single thing ever. this is unfortunately a non issue bc americans dont care about anything but themselves, you just happen to be around small groups of the exception

My job now is to outlive that man.
I will outlive him. I will be here when he is gone. I will be here when he has been erased. I will be here, telling stories, loving my wife, protecting my friends and family, cherishing joy and kindness and diversity. I will be here. He will not. It is only a matter of time.

A lot of us didn’t learn this lesson in 2016, but we’re gonna have to learn it now.

I’m somehow less shocked than I was in 2016 but also more despondent. 2016 was a violent shock to my system. I cried the whole night. Now I just feel a deep unending ache in me. What an awful year.

gen z has to reckon with its radicalization problem. you are not a morally pure and superior generation of youth come to save the world, your men and boys are radicalized at an unprecedented level and you ignore it because it’s too hard to address but you have to. these boys are in your classes, they date your friends, you know them and you cannot continue to pretend this is an “old white guy” problem
#seriously#I mean I grew up in the generation that used to used 'gay' as a pejorative and within a few years that became socially toxic#change can happen#us politics#radicalization#misogyny
