TDY 9 Days of Christmas Challenge: Day 1 - Discover
If the Catholic Church in the Philippines has the 9-day Simbang Gabi, TDY has a 9-day series of little challenges you can do to begin living a truly better life. Today, Day 1, we invite you to Discover.
It’s just a week and a half before Christmas, and here at TDY, we strive to make each day count – to make living a truly good life a lifestyle, a mindset, a second nature.
Roman Catholics in the Philippines have what we call “Simbang Gabi” (Night Mass, literally) – a novena of Masses held at night or in the early hours of the morning in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as we prepare for the big…

[Today] A lesson from the Wizarding world and Omelas
Why higher purpose should be properly rooted in awareness and service - the entire lesson of this institute.
Key Takeaway: Any measure of success can never justify evils done to achieve it. All of our thoughts, words, and deeds can and do affect anyone and anything around us. This is why higher purpose should be properly rooted in awareness and service – the entire lesson of this institute. Whenever I wanted something really much before, I would say, “I’ll do anything to _____.” My then-best friend…

How is minimalist living a lifestyle and a mindset?
In this increasingly consumerist world, paring down on your things - and I don't mean just your possessions, I mean your environment in general - can be seen as strange, though obviously it's a lifestyle that's attracting more and more people, most of them young.
Key Takeaway: Minimalist living is a lifestyle and a mindset that presupposes freedom from unnecessary worries and anxieties, leaving you with peace, serenity, and the ability to focus on the things that truly matter. It is simple but smart living, glorified.
First of all, I want to wish my mother a happy birthday! I love you! :)
When we talk about “doing things for a purpose”, or purposeful…

[Today] Expect surprises, if you let yourself do so
As The Daily You celebrates its first anniversary, its Co-Founder and CEO Aloy Chua reflects on unexpected surprises, the kind that can only come from openness.
Key Takeaway: If you allow yourself to be receptive to things around you, if you allow yourself to be led or guided rather than lead or guide, you’ll be taken to places you never dreamed of going to – for good.
Even while it was still officially The Daily Aloy, and more of my passion project focusing on ways I lived – or tried to live – a responsible life (plus others), I had already been…

[TDY 5] 5 steps to meditating well
We've been mentioning regularly the importance of meditating and reflecting. But how do you meditate in itself? Here we outline five steps to an effective meditation session.
Tumblr media
We’ve been mentioning regularly the importance of meditating and reflecting, and I even introduced a 6-step ritual to doing so while in the shower. But how do you meditate in itself? Here we outline five steps to an effective meditation session. 1. Stay in a silent, distraction-free place. Just as the environment needs to be conducive for a plant to grow and bear good fruit, in order to bear good…

[Today] 4 fitness insights that can be translated into purposeful living
So much philosophy from fitness can be applied in living a purposeful life! Here are four such insights.
Key Takeaway: So much philosophy from fitness can be applied in living a purposeful life! Here are four such insights. Make a wish! They say that at 11:11, you should make a wish because either the identical digits represent beginnings or oneness, or because that’s the time that a “window” in your life is open and thus need to ask for guidance from your angels. But I’m not here to talk about…

Simple but smart is the essence of purposeful living, and purposeful fashion is about quality and expression. That said, we have our list of five purposeful shoes every guy should have.
Last Saturday we talked about purposeful fashion, about how quality is important, and about how it’s about expression rather than impression. At the same time, we want to live simply but smartly, which is the essence of purposeful living.
That said, for us dudes, if there were five purposeful shoes that we should have, it would be these:
1. Dress shoes
I can’t emphasize any more the importance…

Fashion really is about quality - here's why
Fashion has undeniably changed the world; however, it's so easy to get carried away by it in so many ways. Purposeful fashion is truly about quality, but a rather different kind of quality.
Key Takeaway: Fashion has undeniably changed the world; however, it’s so easy to get carried away by it in so many ways. Purposeful fashion is rooted in awareness towards self, others, and even society; and it makes the most out of “just enough” for your life.
In today’s world, there are few things that are as influential as fashion. Entire industries have been built around it – from fashion…

[Today] Is it really for me?
When things get difficult or boring, you may think that that dream isn't for you after all. But hold your horses first: Is there a sense of peace?
Key Takeaway: When things get difficult or boring, you may think that that dream isn’t for you after all. But hold your horses: if in the middle of it all you feel a sense of peace, then it is. Nothing of worth comes easy.
There seems to be a trend among start-ups and social enterprises in my circle: the passionate young changemaker is so busy blazing their trail that they sometimes fail to pay…
