Zigzagoon Facts

-The scientific name for Zigzagoon is "Oblicyon Derectus." Oblicyon from Latin "oblicus" meaning zigzag or indirect, and "cyon" from "kuon" meaning dog. Derectus means direction. The rough translation for them is "Indirect Dog"

-Despite them acting very dog-like, Zigzagoon are full mustelids; with their closest relatives being Stunky

-Zigzagoon make their homes both underground and in trees. They're most oftenly found in forests and tall fields, but they are known to wander into the suburbs to find food and make homes there

-While Zigzagoon can make their homes in trees, Linoone exclusively make their homes in the ground

-Zigzagoon evolved to move in a Zig-zag motion when running as a way to escape potential predators

-They're opportunistic omnivores and will eat pretty much anything. While this includes things like Wurmple, Surskit, and berries, it can also include decaying carcasses and their own feces. Make sure to watch what your Zigzagoon is eating, because they genuinely don't care

-Zigzagoon are crepescular, meaning they're most active in the evening and at night

-Baby Zigzagoon are called Zigs

-Because of their curiosity and great sense of smell, Zigzagoon are often used as beginner-tracking pokemon. Many Zigzagoon/Linoone fathers are bred with pokemon like Lucario, Boltund, and Thievul, so the babies can be used as better tracking mon

-Zigzagoon are hibernators. While many don't hibernate if they have trainers, be aware that your Zigzagoon will become sleepier and more sluggish

-When scared or threatened, Zigzagoon arch their back and make their fur stand up to be more intimidating

-Zigzagoon are already very fluffy, they become extra fluffy (and fat) in winter to deal with the cold

-Zigzagoon are foragers, eating mostly berries and small bugs. But sometimes, they will actively hunt other pokemon

-Zigzagoon have been known to wash their foods before eating

-Their mask protects their eyes from the glare of the sun, but it also adds to their stripes, which help blend them in in the tall grass

-In many Hoenn beliefs, Zigzagoon are tricksters. Old beliefs said they could shapeshift, but thst isn't true at all. The belief most likely came from how Zigzagoon are able to hide in the shadows well, and shadows can be deceiving

Rubbing its nose against the ground, it always wanders about back and forth in search of something. It is distinguished by the zigzag footprints it leaves.

A note on colours: in my experience, floss looks different irl than in online pattern makers. If you think a different colour will work better, go with your gut!

assuming that you mean hoennian zigzagoon and not galarian, these little guys love to play wrestle and chase after toys! grooming sessions are also a great way to bond with them, since they engage in a lot of mutual grooming with other members of their clan. make sure you get the proper grooming supplies though, as their bristly fur does need to be treated carefully to avoid scratching their skin.

i also recommend harness training your little buddy so you can take it on walks! zigzagoon LOVE exploring and foraging. keep in mind that it's not like walking a canine pokemon. you're going to spend a lot of time slowly zigzagging around and being handed various berries and pieces of trash, but it's a great bonding activity for them!

The egg that Professor Elm wanted us to take care of is finally here! I admit it was a tad unexpected, but when I told him that we've always got room for one more, I meant it!

Everyone's so excited, especially Nat. He can't wait to see the little one hatch, and frankly, neither can I!

I asked the professor what it was gonna be, but he wouldn't talk, the sneak! All he would say was that it's certainly a hybrid of some kind. The egg's brown with dark brown stripes... maybe it's a Sentret? I would guess Zigzagoon, but the stripes aren't, well, zigzagged.

I'll be sure to update this once the big day arrives!

I guess it's been a while since either of us last took care of an egg, because I'd forgotten how long it could take! It's already been two weeks!

Nat and I were both starting to worry, but Tristan told us that everything would be fine. He could sense that the little one was alright in there... I trust him, but I decided to double-check with Nurse Joy just to be safe. It's healthy, thankfully.

Speaking of Tristan, he's been watching over the egg more often lately. When I asked, he said he could sense... something. Something about its aura. It's not on the same wavelength as his or mine; just the tiniest hint of a match. Weird...

It's a Riolu! And I was partially right before, because she's part Furret as well!

She's so cute, with her striped tail and extra fluffy fur, and those big, wide eyes! Can't believe Nat scooped her up before I could! >:T

Oh well, I guess I'll let Nat and Tristan have their fun. It'll be good for her to be around someone else in her dominant line.

In the meantime, I'll have to fill out her documents for Professor Elm, and think of a name for the little miss. Something good...

P.S. This is a couple hours after writing, but Nat and Tristan came back, and it looks like the little miss had gotten into Nat's hat collection! And here I thought she couldn't get any cuter~!
