They don’t always take labels in canon, but in meta Reis is genderfluid and Tarou’s agender:

Reis is like a fujoshi/yumejoshi larping as his own self-insert bishie…  Rather than a connection to maleness, he sees himself as “playing” a “game” in a genre wherein the protagonist typically has a masc vibe; therefore, as the protagonist of the simulation, he should too, right?  And having a masc vibe means he’s a guy, right?  (The fact he connects more with yuri and likes imagining himself the girl in sole-female hentai nonwithstanding.)

With Tarou, performing masculinity is an inherent part of his identity (butch), but while he connects with the experiences and feelings of women way more than men, he’s averse to being defined as either male or female.  Ideally, he wouldn’t even use pronouns (and he can get away with this in Japanese), but he’ll put up with masculine gendering if it’s not an option (since he doesn’t connect with most neutral forms of reference either).

Publishing house Kadokawa revealed a teaser image for their television anime adaptation of Tarou Yuri's manga, Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (Kaya-chan Isn't Scary).

shounen manga is actually incredibly diverse in art and storytelling, too. it isn't all battle tournament/action manga and a lot focuses on girls and women

Examples:

-The Princess Tutu manga was serialized in a shounen magazine (Champion Red was a shounen publication at the time)

-Ray, a manga focusing on a female surgeon with X-ray eyes. (counting it because Champion Red had only become a seinen magazine somewhat recently at the time)

-Alien Nine, focuses on girls.

-There are shounen magical girl comics. Magical Girl isn't only shoujo. (Cutie Honey, Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel, Magical Girl Risuka)

-xxxHolic and Angelic Layer by CLAMP are shounen

-O Maidens in Your Savage Season is a romance manga focusing on a cast of nearly all female characters

-Moe manga focusing on girls are common in shounen magazines (Pita-Ten, Mitsuboshi colors, Strawberry Marshmallow)

-There's many shounen romance manga like Tsuredure Children and Kimagure Orange Road

-There's a lot of shounen manga focusing on cute mascots and animals (Q-Tarou)

-Sketchbook is a shounen manga with a female lead

-the yuri sci-fi manga Blue Drop was published in a shounen magazine

-Azumanga Daioh is a shounen manga focusing on girls

-Bloom Into You is shounen

-Kurogane Communication is a shounen manga about a young girl, who is the only human left on Earth, and her family of sentient robots

-Kamichu! focuses on girls

-Ninja Nonsense has a female main character

-Sound of the Sky focuses on women

-Aria focuses on women

-Karin (Chibi Vampire) is shounen

-Scrapped Princess and Slayers have a female main character

-Tokyo ESP, Blood+, and Brain Powerd have a female main character

-Pumpkin Scissors has a female main character

-Your Lie in April is shounen

-Birdy the Mighty focuses on a female character

-Detective Conan has very good female characters (i'm biased (but also right!!))

-Squid Girl is shounen

This isn't me recommending these series, they're just examples of how vast shounen is.

sometimes people make posts complaining about female characters in shounen, and over the course of the post it sounds more and more like their only experience with shounen is naruto specifically

(exaggerating but basically it sounds like their only experience with shounen is shounen jump! which is the magazine infamous for it's bad treatment of female characters. there's other shounen magazines out there. like there's a lot of misogyny and sexism in shounen manga in general, but you shouldn't base your whole opinion on just *one* magazine, especially not the one that's known for repeatedly upsetting feminist organizations)

A friend requested this from me awhile ago and I finally got around to this one after finding a decent version of the piano sheet music on Musescore that I could transcribe for the harp. Since it’s pretty hard to find original harp arrangements, I usually always work the piano sheet music and fiddle around here-and-there with chords and arpeggios, but I’m pretty pleased with the overall result!
