Just a few RoR characters we are probably underestimating the heck out of
So I’ve been asked by one of my friends to make this list and I’m glad they did because I’ve been waiting for someone to ask, so here goes, now half of the characters just look either dorky or weak as hell, and some of their personalities really don’t help them look tougher in that situation either but that doesn’t matter, let’s just start off
Tumblr media
7: Hlökk is definitely on the list because let’s all just face it, this girl is resilient and she may not know how to fight but if she can handle being Jack’s voulnd then she can handle anything, girl is like a diamond, you can’t break it
Tumblr media
6: Aphrodite was originally on the fighting list before edits were made and the author hired his translator, let’s also not forget that she was heartless so it may not be her strength that benefits her but it’s her cold heart that does
Tumblr media
5: So we already know Hermes is a traitor, in mythology he stole like a bunch of cattle as a baby fresh out of the womb and ate them, also was one of the strongest gods in Greek mythology as well as having a REALLY high IQ, he’s basically a mix of Loki and Hermödr, so in other words, he can do damage
Tumblr media
4: I don’t think I need to explain myself here, Chen Gong is a full on yandere that killed people… tons of them irl…. For love and affection, let’s also not forget that he shows the same traits Yuno Gasai showed in the future diary, this boy is literally a “pretty little psycho” and anyone who willingly kills villages to be noticed in history is…. Well batshit crazy 😜
Tumblr media
3: Okay now here me out…. Okay…. Forseti was the god of sight manipulation and justice as well as death, he determined justice like the laws of the court, he may not know how to fight but if he says “hey I want you dead” that means….. your ass is dead! You’d be dead in a second by the power of one teenager, oh and he’s friends with Heimdall and Hermödr… OH HEWLLL NAWWW😳😰🤯🥉
Tumblr media
2: I think we’re underestimating Heimdall here… too the max, okay despite his nice body, that boy is strong as hell in mythology, in the actual tale of ragnarok, not even Loki could beat him, they both died so technically he’s as strong as Loki, sure Heimdall has a big heart and means well, and in a relationship or friendship he’d probably give up everything he had to make sure you are happy… but if you piss him off….. Rest In Peace, I’ll see you in Valhalla, and just know, not only will he kill you but it will probably hurt the whole time you are dying so say your prayers 🥈
Tumblr media
1: Okay, Jesus, Socrates and Confucius, you see these three, that’s just as bad as Heimdall but worse, yeah, they’re gonna gang up on you and it’s over, you’d be out like a light 🥇

My Review of Flowers of Evil
Tumblr media
How did I get into this anime? Because Flowers of Evil is something no one says, “Oh I want to see that, this looks like a masterpiece”! Oh, I was well familiar with the rotoscope nightmare stories from this and hoped to God my randomizer wouldn’t curse me with watching Flowers of Evil. I was however intrigued to learn that there was a yandere in this anime that’s on Yuno Gasai AND Shion Sonozaki levels. But intrigue can only get me so far when you spend 13 episodes watching…
Tumblr media
THIS!
No this is not an exaggeration. Everyone has this kind of cringe face throughout the entire anime series. Be afraid children.
Tumblr media
So the story is about this guy named Takao Kasuga. He loves to read and he loves the class smarty-pants Nanako Saeki. He doesn’t just love her, he sees her as his muse and his Venus and all that bullshit. But this is an admiration from afar. Pretty sure Saeki doesn’t even know he exists! One day, Kasuga forgets his book in his classroom. And on the ground, he notices a gym bag that belongs to Saeki. Oh come on, he’s not gonna go down the perverted route and steal a girl’s gym…
Tumblr media
So he steals Saeki’s gym uniform. And surprise, one person knew what happened. The class loner, Nakamura! She forces Kasuga to form a contract with her. It wasn’t written or anything, just verbal. However, that doesn’t stop Nakamura from forcing Kasuga to do whatever she wants. But does Nakamura really like Kasuga or is she just into torturing this shit-faced pervert?
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: You know, I’m too thrown off by the animation here that it has temporarily paralyzed me from catching voices or even giving a damn. I’m familiar with only two of the cast mates and the rest is literally my first time hearing it. Okay, I have one comment here. I often forget Mariya Ise could do some damn-ass scary characters like Nakamura. And when she does those murderous screams, forget about it! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.
*Kasuga is played by Shinichirou Ueda
*Saeki is played by Yoko Hikasa (known for Bea on Pokemon Journeys, Rias on High School DxD, Mio on K-ON!, Hina on Domestic Girlfriend, Kirigiri on Danganronpa, Frieda on Attack on Titan, and Diana on Little Witch Academia)
*Nakamura is played by Mariya Ise (known for Bonnie on Pokemon XY, Levy on Fairy Tail, Ray on The Promised Neverland, Stocking on Panty & Stocking, Mika on Durarara, Dorothy on Black Clover, and Yuuko on Yuri on Ice)
SHIPPING: Oh please, anime Gods, do not turn this into another School Days fiasco. I find myself praying for this a lot these days. But in this anime’s case, please do not go down that route!
So, it was clear from episode one that Kasuga had a crush on Saeki. But this got very perverted very fast when he stole her gym clothes and that lead to the contract with Nakamura. Now is Nakamura romantically invested in Kasuga or is she just a crazy bitch. Let’s chalk this up to a 50-50 split here.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t until the fourth episode where Kasuga and Saeki actually spoke to each other. And one episode later, they go on a date and end up in a relationship. One has to wonder if Kasuga would have one day acted on his own and ask Saeki out. All of this happened because he was being forced by that psychopath Nakamura. She tortured this kid and forced him to do so many unethical things. Stripping him naked and putting Saeki’s uniform on him for one! Who does that? So would Kasuga have done these sporadic actions if Nakamura wasn’t in the picture? After he stole that uniform, anything is possible. Now here’s the crazy shit here, Saeki loves Kasuga and she doesn’t care that he stole her gym uniform and did fuck-knows-what with it. She’s mad that Kasuga hid it, but still loves him.
Girl, the fuck is wrong with you?! You must be some special kind of crazy!
Tumblr media
By the end of this series, you do see a shift in Kasuga and who he wants to chase after. Saeki or Nakamura?! Let’s just say that during a running away scene, Kasuga was going to go home with Saeki until he saw Nakamura and he chases after her. That’s a pretty good sign that Kasuga has switched gears on who he likes. I won’t delve any further than that as the anime only gives us so much and the rest of this love turmoil between these three characters is covered only in the manga. Probably a sign I should read the manga!
Tumblr media
LOOOOOONG NO DIALOGUE MOMENTS: Dude, I know you’re trying to set the mood for certain moments, but I think you can dial it back a bit. This complaint isn’t just what happened at the beginning of episode 9; it took forever to get the main gist of this story in the very first episode. I had no idea what the main premise of the story was until the last five minutes of the first episode when Kasuga stole Saeki’s gym uniform.
Now I’m not knocking serious moments where there is no dialogue between characters for a long period of time and we just watch the animation of them walking or doing something. Hell, Neon Genesis Evangelion had famous scenes like that. But the elevator scene didn’t last six fucking minutes. Neither did the scene where Shinji kills Kaowru. In episode 9, we watch Nakamura and Kasuga walking from the school to home and watch the whole walk after destroying the classroom. I guarantee you, you could leave this episode running, fix yourself a bowl of cereal and toast, eat it up, go to the bathroom to have a good yank, then finish it off with watching a Che Guevara documentary…and Nakamura and Kasuga would still be walking home! I’m exaggerating and I don’t care. I feel like being an asshole here.
Tumblr media
OH DEAR GOD, WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!: Very rarely will I ever look at an opening or ending theme song in literal fear. In fact, the last one to be so morbid was with Attack on Titan’s second season ending. I mean, the imagery alone should tell you that this is full of spoilers and possessed by the devil itself. Now that I think about it, that’s still undefeated. But Flowers of Evil’s ending theme is a close fucking second. Have you heard this thing? It sounds like Bjork singing in Japanese, synthesized, while a cat walks on a keyboard and having a seizure at the same time. Thank God there are no actual visuals for this other than the flower featured on Kasuga’s book. I don’t think we can handle anymore animation from this nightmare fuel.
ENDING: The writing is on the wall!
Tumblr media
And the floor, the ceiling…that classroom is just a fucking mess!
Kasuga’s one bad deed led to another and another in a domino effect. And instead of a little devil on his shoulder, he has a classmate that’s a sociopath. Kasuga has guilt about hiding so much from Saeki in this relationship and he wants to tell her everything he did. Nakamura says, “Nah, you’re going to write it all over the classroom and let the whole world know what a piece of shit you are”. Let’s just say Nakamura and Kasuga went overboard and completely destroyed their classroom. Kasuga gets a bit of a lucky break as the other vandalism covered up his name on the chalkboard confession. But two people have caught onto Kasuga’s crime, Saeki and Kasuga’s mother.
Saeki put two and two together when she noticed the ink smearing on the ground resembled the flower art work on Kasuga’s book “Flowers of Evil” and her stolen gym uniform was placed right there. As for Kasuga’s mother, she put two and two together when she heard what happened to his classroom and noticed Kasuga’s behavior and dirty clothes from the night of the crime. Won’t be long before everyone knows what Kasuga did.
What now, shit-face?
Tumblr media
Run away with Nakamura to the next town. Yeah, why the fuck not?! Saeki ends up tracking them down and tried to convince them to come back and for Kasuga to be truthful. Saeki wants Kasuga and I almost want to say the same, except hanging around this psycho-bitch for a while has caused him to try to stop Nakamura from leaving. Having Saeki see Kasuga go after Nakamura isn’t really a good look! At this point, it really feels like his love for Saeki was nothing more than lust.
Tumblr media
Dude, isn’t there a rule about not messing with crazy…like, don’t stick your dick in crazy?! This dude has got one crazy bitch on psycho-yandere levels and the other that’s about to turn into Kotonoha from School Days in about five seconds. Well, no one left town today as the police were called to look for Saeki because her parents are overprotective types and they take the other kids in.
We get a small time-leap of one month after the night in the police station. Nakamura’s been ignoring Kasuga and Kasuga ends his relationship with Saeki. Dude, stop trying to stick your dick in crazy! Kasuga tries to speak to Nakamura again and it fails. So he visits her at home and meets Nakamura’s father and grandmother. Then, he sneaks into her room and reads her private journal that talks about Kasuga a lot. Dude, you are stepping in uncharted territory! Drop the journal and get the fuck out before Nakamura comes home. So Nakamura comes in her room and finds shit-face reading her journal.
Tumblr media
*sighs*
First, I would like to acknowledge that Mariya Ise has one hell of a throat to scream as much as this crazy bitch does. Second, the fuck did I just say, ya dumbass?! Here we get another chase scene between Kasuga and Nakamura. What follows is…I can’t place my thoughts on this. Weird imagery, out of place dialogue, and possible scenes of future stuff to happen! A rape scene involving Saeki, a festival, a hideout, a knife, and fire! Thanks for the cryptic message guys, really appreciate it! Either the anime ran out of money or they’re fucking with the audience. Kasuga says he wants to form a contract with Nakamura and that’s the end!
Hmm, this anime came out in 2013 and it is now 2021. All the buildup and no word on a sequel! We all know that sequel ain’t ever coming. You have a better chance of a continuation to Haruhi Suzumiya than you do with this hunk of shit.
Okay, maybe ‘hunk of shit’ is too mean. This wasn’t a terrible anime. It was weird as fuck, the animation leaves a bad impression, but overall it wasn’t that bad. Now the manga to Flowers of Evil is a favorite to many. Probably because the characters don’t look like a cringey meme and there aren’t so many awkward pauses with no dialogue. Unless there’s a whole volume of Flowers of Evil out there where we just look at pictures of Nakamura and Kasuga walking home where they don’t say a fucking thing! I am not letting that go! Charlie Brown movies didn’t go to that level you guys did!
I was interested with each passing episode to see what Nakamura was going to do next and what she was capable of. I couldn’t make out if she was going to be homicidal or suicidal or just impact psychological warfare on her prey. It was the latter for this series, but I heard of some attempted seppuku going down in the manga. I’d like to think maybe one day a different studio would pick up this series, but I seriously doubt it with the rotten reception this adaptation received. It was said that the director to the anime saw this more as a live-action series than an anime and that’s why we have the rotoscope animation. It wasn’t until 2019 that we got a live-action adaptation to Flowers of Evil. Not sure how people felt about that adaptation, but even I have a feeling that it was much better than the anime. Hell, a Netflix adaptation probably would have turned out a better product. It would be nice for this to get a reboot, different studio, different director, and smash everything that has the word ‘rotoscope’ on it
Yeah, if you can get over watching the animation, give it a watch. Episode one drags, but it picks up the second Nakamura confronts Kasuga.
If you would like to watch Flowers of Evil, Crunchyroll and Hidive have all 13 episodes available for streaming.
Okay, now that I’m finished with that sociopathic nightmare let’s pick another Sentai Filmworks anime.
Tumblr media
HELL NO! I am not reviewing, “My Teacher Accidentally Made Me Horny”. That’s what I’m calling it and you should all do the same. NEXT!
Tumblr media
Okay…I have no idea what the hell this anime is, but it looks harmless enough.

Recommendations for thriller/mystery animes >:3
*opens myanimelist of watched animes*
and I just realized that I need more of thriller/mystery animes myself o_o but I found 4 that I would recommend (though, I bet they are quite popular, thus you might have seen them already).
Another - mystery, horror, supernatural, thriller, school
Ah, the gem that got me hooked on anime… my only regret is that I watched it dubbed. I am seriously contemplating rewatching it. I liked it cause it wasn’t blood and gore just for the sake of making viewers queasy (though, there are some rather shocking deaths). The mysterious curse that was taking the lives of high-school students because of the so-called “extra” student, in my opinion, was well-crafted and maintained the suspense until the very end when the real culprit was revealed - honestly, I didn’t see that plot twist coming.
Tumblr media
Death Parade - game, mystery, psychological, drama, thriller
Love love love the aesthetic of this anime! To build that bar in sims is still something I wanna do. I really enjoyed the psychological aspect of this anime and how it depicted the most primitive human emotion and how people act when their own lives are on the line. The games that bar visitors played were also super interesting and pleasing to look at. And I will just add that I fucking love Nona, she’s mood and aesthetic.
Tumblr media
Mirai Nikki - action, psychological, supernatural, thriller, mystery, shounen
Boy… I feel like you either love or hate this one. Watching this myself I was often put off by the behavior of Yuno Gasai (main female protagonist) - I think she’s the character after which a “yandere” (cute-looking homicidal psycho) trope began. But in the end, I still like her… or that might be just me and yanderes in general. If you can get past her always yelling and moaning “Yukkii”, the anime has a pretty decent plot with enough mystery and thrill. Plot twist? Check. Killing other game participants for the right to become a god? Check. Badass female character? Check. Romance? Weeeeell, it’s there, but it’s so twisted that I can’t bring myself to consider this a romance. My only complaint about the plot is that towards the end it is a little bit too stretched. It could have been shorter and better.
Tumblr media
Gosick - mystery, historical, drama, romance
Not a thriller and the most light-hearted of the four, but I really enjoyed the detective feel of this anime. In a sense, it felt like Scooby Doo, cause all the mysteries were uncovered to be non-magical, non-supernatural - kinda advocating that everything could be explained rationally. I guess I did like the main heroine, though most of the time she was a major (tsundere) brat :D the main male character is your typical mr. nice guy who gets involved in some crazy shit - so no points from me there. Though, for me (oddly enough) this anime had a really satisfying ending… like it didn’t feel forced nor too cheesy. So even with weak male character, this romance wasn’t a total disaster (probably because romance wasn’t a huge focus in this anime).

Yes, this post has been inspired by Darling in the Franxx’s Zero Two, unfortunately she doesn’t get a place on the list due to the uncertainty about how her character will develop from here.
Certainly she has all the traits of the characters below so far. Obsessively possessive of her chosen ‘Darling’, not entirely needing consent though does appreciate the thought, and willing to cut other people out of their ‘Darling’s’ lives if necessary. I’m pretty sure you can guess some of the names below but as always, I’d love to know who you would have included on your list. Which anime character do you think loves their ‘Darling’ to death?
Affiliate Product Link:
Announced – Pre-orders opening soon.
Please note: There will be spoilers below.
Honourable mentions: Zero Two of course.
Number 5: Misa Amane from Death Note
There is no surprise that Misa made this list. The cute, sweet idol obsessed with Kira. She latches onto Light and promises to be helpful. She’ll follow his every command and do as he says. But no, he cannot date anyone else and no he cannot even pretend to be with other girls. Why? Because she’ll kill them in an instant and does not care that they may bring the police down on both of them. Misa was never one for a strategy. She went straight after what she wanted and what she wanted was Light’s absolute loyalty. And while Misa never did get Light killed, that was more good luck than good management. If it hadn’t been for her he would never have had to go through the whole confinement thing which would have made life a lot easier for him later.
Number 4: Haru from My Little Monster
Now, Haru is an interesting character and a lot of the time his bizarre actions are more a lack of understanding of norms than actual malice, and yet threatening to rape a girl the day after you met her is kind of extreme. The fact that these two end up being an adorable couple is kind of terrifying when put in that context, mostly because Shizuku spends a lot of time putting some very clear boundaries in place, particularly when he did punch her (technically an accident but still not cool). However, while Haru becomes far better at moderating his behaviour as directed toward Shizuku, Kenji Yamaguchi, who also kind of likes Shizuku, is not so lucky. At one point Haru nearly pushed him off a flight of stairs and was only stopped because he was distracted by Shizuku and another time Haru made it clear that his change in behaviour only applied to Shizuku. Not exactly an amazing example of reform or healthy relationships really. Fortunately though, no deaths in the show. It is a romantic comedy despite the serious doses of ‘what’ going on in Haru’s character description.
Number 3: Creed Diskenth from Black Cat
The guy is just obsessed with Train. That’s literally hit entire motivation and reason for being. He follows Train within the Chronos organisation and when Train leaves he completely loses it. The fact that Train left after being influenced by a friend (possibly closer than a friend) truly infuriated Creed and so Creed killed her. And then made sure Train knew that he had killed her. A lot of the time it is unclear is Creed is trying to kill Train or confine him or just mess with him but basically Creed is pretty stable as a character (as much as possible for a villain), until you throw Train into the mix and then he is a complete and utter psycho. I guess it never really occurred to him that Train legitimately did not care about him at all until he killed Saya. And even then, Train didn’t actually care about Creed. He just wanted to destroy the person who destroyed Saya. It didn’t matter that it was Creed. Again, Creed doesn’t manage to kill Train but he does come very close on multiple occasions.
Number 2: Yuno Gasai from Future Diary
I can already hear people asking, why is Yuno not number one on this list. And certainly, if we were just going with being crazy, Yuno is definitely a good contender. Still, in terms of loving their Darling to death, Yuno’s got some fierce competition. Mostly because I’m not entirely certain how much Yuno actually is in love rather than just obsessed with Amano. On the other hand, she’s one of the few people on this list who did in fact kill her Darling, even if it was in another timeline. So, basically, she swears to protect him in the death game, but mid-way through she tries confining him by tying him to a chair. Afterwards we learn that previously these two were the last two left standing and she killed him in order to be the victor and then she’s killed her past-self, inserted herself into that life, and done the whole thing again. You just have to wonder if she expected it to end differently the next time.

US – Bluray
Number 1: Road Kamelot from D Gray Man
It absolutely had to be Road. She is a truly sadistic character who is, unfortunately for Allen, obsessed with our white haired exorcist friend. Mid-battle she can go from attacking him with kisses to shoving a spike through his eye in about the space of a heart beat and she sure doesn’t care about anyone near Allen, unless she thinks she can torture him by hurting them. Her obsession runs deep and she’s more than once allowed him to live when she could have killed him, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t had a fair go at inflicting quite a bit of pain on him. D Gray Man Hallow saw her assisting him from her doll form, though whether that will continue or whether she is just leading him to yet another disaster is anyone’s guess unless we get another continuation of the anime (or, you know I could eventually read the source material). Either way, Road was the first character I thought of for this list. She is ice cold, completely obsessed, and has a real taste for pain.
Thanks for reading.

Introduction
Lately, the quality of anime has dropped. Authors focus all their attention on drawing perfectly shaped boobs rather than making the story more interesting and appealing to bigger audience. Stories often lack originality as well. Sometimes I can even guess how the end will look like after watching just the first episode. Because of these reasons, I did a little research and tried to find anime shows that are often recommended by anime veterans as a "must watch" anime.
Luckily for me, this was one easy task because I'm not the only one who is looking for anime shows with some good quality art, awesome background stories and well developed characters. Everyone who asked on forums about this type of anime got similar answers. Most recommended anime shows were from psychological genre. This makes sense because I immediately remembered how fast I got addicted to watching Death Note or Code Geass. Soon I realized that my list would be far better if it had more anime with brilliant and interesting mind games. Am I right?
Most of the anime that I'm going to talk about are pretty much well known. However, there will be a few reviews of some great shows that simply slipped by us unnoticed due to the popularity of other shows.
The following list of top most popular psychological anime is not ranked in any way but in what order I have watched the series. If you don't want to read each and every review, you can use this table of content and see which anime will be mentioned in the list. With that information, you can easily use "ctrl+F" and go directly to the review you want to read. Remember that this list will be updated from time to time with new reviews!
List of mentioned Anime:
No Game No Life (NGNL)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry)
Monster (Naoki Urusawa's Monster)
Mirai Nikki (Future Diary)
Ergo Proxy
Code Geass (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch)
Death Note
Death Parade
Psycho Pass
One Outs (ONE OUTS Nobody wins, but I!)
No Game No Life (NGNL)
Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Game, Supernatural.
Main characters: Sora and Shiro.
Plot: The story of No Game No Life revolves around two characters, Sora and Shiro, who are also known as Blank. One day, Sora and Shiro get transported into another world after they win a chess game against Tet, the One True God. This world is called Disboard and everything in this world is decided by playing games. Sora and Shiro will join the weakest race and start conquering all other races to eventually challenge the God.
Shiro and Sora.
Review: I could say that this anime is more or less a gambling contest where you have to play a game to get what you want. It does not fall in the genre of psychological anime, however, it is based solely on games and how to trick your opponent and I thought adding it to the list wouldn't be a mistake.
Sora and Shiro play a lot of games and come up with some extraordinary solutions which will slowly but surely allow them to accomplish their goal. However, Sora and Shiro will sometimes come up with solutions that have no great development behind them. The downside of this anime is that sometimes Sora and Shiro are portrayed as so powerful characters that you are basically 100% certain that they will win.
Still, No Game No Life is a very popular anime and many people will recommend it to you to watch it. The fact that Sora has been ranked in "the Top 5 of the most intelligent Anime-Characters" in a poll, made by Charapedia, tells you a lot. If you put aside that main characters are a little bit overpowered then you will definitely enjoy this show.
Mirai Nikki (Future Diary)
Genres: Action, Mystery, Psychological, Shounen, Supernatural, Thriller.
Main characters: Gasai Yuno and Amano Yukiteru.
Plot: Yukiteru Amano, a highschool student, spends most of his time writing a diary on his cellphone. Deus, who reveals himself to be an actual entity, grants Yukiteru a "Random Diary," which shows highly descriptive entries based on the future and forces him into a bloody battle royale with 11 other holders of similarly powerful future diaries.
With the last person standing designated as the new god of time and space, Yukiteru must find and kill the other 11 in order to survive. Yukiteru teams up with Yuno Gasai, who is his obsessive stalker.
All Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) characters.
Review: Even though Mirai Nikki anime has kids not older than 14 as main characters, this show is still very mature. Amano Yukiteru, also known as Yuki, is the male protagonist and he is the first diary holder in the show. Whereas, Yuno Gasai is the main female protagonist and she is the second in the Survival Game and has a "Diary of Future Love".
The basic premise for this story has already been seen a couple of times. Basically, a group of people is pitted against each other in a battle where only the last man standing is the winner. However, what makes Mirai Nikki such a popular psychological anime is that it is hard to predict what will happen next. Each character is equipped with a "Future Diary" which gives them a special power. The power and the characters' strengths come from their own personalities.
Watching players use their own strengths and opponents' weaknesses to survive will surely force you to watch all Mirai Nikki episodes in one day!

L and Light Yagami.
Review: A perfect way to kill someone without getting your hands dirty? Why don't just use Death Note?
Death Note was the first anime to come to my mind once I decided to make a list of anime that involve mind games. Death Note is still a very popular psychological anime even though it was aired in 2006 for the first time. Ten years is a long period!
I believe that Death Note is definitely the best anime ever created because of its unique story rivaled by few. You can't call yourself an anime fan until you have watched Death Note.
Psycho Pass
Genres: Action, Police, Psychological, Sci-Fi.
Main characters: Kougami Shinya, Makishima Shougo, Tsunemori Akane.
Plot: On Earth the system of justice is not the same anymore. It is the 22nd century and Japan is using the Sybil System to determine whether someone is threat to humanity or not by checking their mental state for signs of criminal intent, their Psycho Pass.
However, this carefully created world has its flaws. The system does not work perfectly and one of the main characters, Akane Tsunemori, will realize that soon. With everything she has known turning to be a lie, Akane wrestles with the question of what justice truly is, and whether it can be upheld through the use of a system that may also be corrupt.
Psycho Pass.
Review: What if you could tell that a person is going to become a criminal just by analyzing their state of mind? What would you do with that kind of information?
Similar to Death Note, Psycho Pass leaves us with a question where is the line between good and bad. After watching this anime, your idea of what justice is might be changed.
Psycho Pass is full of realistic characters, who have interesting background stories which you cannot see these days in anime. Unpredictable shifts in the story will keep your attention all the time, not to mention the antagonists and their back stories, which won't leave you indifferent. Every character has his or her role in this series and you will soon find yourself attached to those same characters, fearing for their lives and possible clouding of their Psycho Pass.
Psycho Pass is a great psychological anime which you should add to your watch list.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry)

Keiichi will try to find out more about these incidents but with no success. With the next Watanagashi approaching, things will start to take a turn for the worse.
Higurashi no Naku Koro (When They Cry).
Review: What is so special about this anime is that it forces viewers to want more and more violence just so they can learn new details about the story. At first, this anime will not be interesting to you, but be patient. Bit by bit, you will understand that behind all that ideal life full of joy lies something so terrible that will surely leave a great impact on you. The story will take you to the depths of every characters' psychology and you will learn the sick motives behind their every action. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni will leave you to wonder just how little is enough for a normal person to become a criminal.
All in all, this is a great psychological anime with some unique storytelling and brilliant mind games.
Ergo Proxy

Main characters: Mayer Re-l, Pino, Law Vincent and Ergo Proxy.

During the investigation of this disease, Re-l Mayer will discover that there is more behind this problem then she previously expected. Along with Iggy, Vincent, and the child AutoReiv named Pino, Re-l Mayer will try to uncover the truth about the town where they live in and the robots' true purpose that has been kept as a secret for far too long.
Ergo Proxy.
Review: This series is a real psychological mind boggling experience. The story is so complex that sometimes you will be simply pissed off because you have no idea what is really going on. Even though you will get your answers at the end of each episode, new questions will soon appear. This is the kind of anime which should be watched more than just one time in order for you to grasp the whole story. Nevertheless, even if you are not the type to dwell into details, you can still surely enjoy the epicness of this story. Character development in Ergo Proxy is well planned which is worth mentioning.
I have had a great time watching this anime.
Death Parade

Main characters: Decim, Nona and Kurokami no Onna.
Plot: This story is set in the after life where those who die are welcomed by bartenders, or better say arbiters. The dead ones get a chance to play a game and how successful they are in that game will determine whether they will be given another chance to live or they will be banished into the void forever. Whatever the game is, the results end up the same: each players' true self is exposed through the game. Decim, one of the main characters, is a lone bartender of the Quindecim bar. His role in judging these passing souls will change when he meets a curious black-haired woman.

Review: Welcome to the afterlife! Take a seat and let's have a game. A brilliant topic worth talking about since everyone is interested in what will happen to them once they die. Am I right?
Coincidentally, I found out on Reddit that research students in real life have written thesis by taking Death Parade as its basis. Amazing, isn't it? The show will hook you up pretty soon. The story itself is thought provoking. Every passing character will leave his or her influence on the audience as they approach the grand finale, which will definitely leave you heart-broken. So, don't let the cheerful opening fool you, because this is surely not a happy-go-lucky anime.
One of the greatest works of Madhouse. Death Parade has really lived up to it's hype!
One Outs (ONE OUTS Nobody wins, but I!)
Genres: Psychological, Seinen, Sports.
Main characters: Tokuchi Toua, Ideguchi Satoshi and Kojima Hiromichi.
Plot: Meet Toua Tokuchi, an excellent pitcher, who will sign a contract with the Lycaons stating that he will earn 5 million yen for each out but loose 50 million yen for every run he gives up. Hell of a contract, right? Don't worry because Toua Tokuchi is the best pitcher in the world and he will do this for fun.
Adapted from the manga by Shinobu Kaitani of Liar Game fame, One Outs documents the intense psychological battles between Toua and those around him. With millions of yen at stake, can a pitcher who has done nothing but gamble in a head-to-head imitation of baseball finally lead a real baseball team to victory?
One Outs.
Review: One Outs is full of amazing mind games, intelligent characters, sports and a whole lot of money at the stake. A perfect combination if you ask me.
I believe some of you will think that sports anime can't get so deep into psychology of people. However, One Outs will prove you wrong. The mind games that you will see in One Outs anime are ranked on the same level as the mind games from Death Note. This comparison is more than enough for you to realize how great this anime is. Some fans even compare Toau Tokuchi to Light Yagami.
To fully enjoy One Outs, I suggest you to learn basic rules in baseball first. Once you have done that, lay down and start watching this brilliant show!
Monster (Naoki Urusawa's Monster)
Genres: Drama, Horror, Mystery, Police, Psychological, Seinen, Thriller.
Main characters: Liebert Johan, Tenma Kenzou, Lunge Heinrich and Liebert Anna.
Plot: If you had to choose who will live between two given people, how would you decide which one you will save? Kenzou Tenma, a Japanese brain surgeon who works in Europe, will face this question. Kenzou will have to decide whether he will save a young boy or the town's old mayor. Once he makes the decision and saves the life of the boy, his nightmare will begin.
Series of murders will occur and all evidences will point to the boy who was saved by Kenzou Tenma. Along his journey to unravel the true identity of his little patient, Kenzou discovers that the fate of the world may be intertwined with this mysterious child.
Monster.
Review: I can say that Monster is an anime part horror and part mystery. However, without a doubt it is a psychological anime. The show has 70 episode and the pacing is a little bit slow so you will have to be patient. Even though the show aired in 2004, Monster is still considered one of the best psychological series on par with Death Note. Once you get used to the art style, you will surely start to appreciate the story and its characters.
The characters are well developed throughout the series. The antagonist of Monster is brilliant. I really liked his design and we can say that he is one of the best manipulative villains I have ever seen. The show focuses heavily on the psychological aspects of the characters and deals with conspiracies, secret government programs and what not.
Code Geass (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch)
Genres: Action, Mecha, Military, School, Sci-Fi, Super Power.
Main characters: Lamperouge Lelouch, C.C., Stadtfeld Kallen and Kururugi Suzaku.
Plot: In the year 2010, the Holy Empire of Britannia is establishing itself as a dominant military nation, with a goal to conquer Japan which was soon accomplished. Renamed to Area 11 after its swift defeat, Japan has seen significant resistance against these tyrants in an attempt to regain independence.
Code Geass' story follows Lamperouge Lelouch, a boy from the royal britannian family, who was forced to take asylum in Japan after the murder of his mother. One day, Lelouch will meet a girl named C.C. who will give him a special ability called Geass, The Power of Kings. With Geass, Lelouch can order anyone to do anything he wants and soon he will realize the vast potential of this power. What follows is Lelouch's battle of wits against other empires and organization to take control over the world.
Code Geass.
Review: Code Geass tackles one interesting philosophical question and that is "Whether a means to an end is more important than the end itself?". Even though Code Geass does not fall in psychological genre, I really had to mention this show as well. It is full of mind games and I strongly recommend it to everyone to watch it. What you will like the most is Lelouch's brilliancy in using other people with his Geass to accomplish what he wants. Each episode is ended with a cliffhanger. What's more, Code Geass is packed with some great mecha fights and amazing soundtracks.
