After seeing Theodore at last, especially seeing him with oscar, I just really wanted something from when ozpin was young 😔

Did anyone else notice that Raven's symbol has a clock in the wing, and Qrow's has a gear? Oz's symbol is a gear and his whole... thing, is based around time for, well... reasons. Teams are four members strong, but there's an exception, the Atlas arc and Ironwood's Ace Operatives. But... what if they had a form to guide them?

Because I can very much imagine a set of teenagers at Beacon, all seventeen-ish, meeting during the whole 'lets throw people off a cliff' and going to yell at their headmaster. Only to discover a fifth teen. Oz might have silver hair at that point... but he's still so terrifyingly young. None of them can quite believe a kid their age is the headmaster and Oz, blushing, can only shrug and blame Vale's council. If Summer is anything like early season Ruby, she hears that and thinks 'new friend!' and, since she's the leader, the others go along with it. Qrow and Raven are kinda sceptical, but Oz is so happy to be seen as his actual age, even the Branwen twins can't deny that sweet smile and the desperation in those too old eyes.

So he trains with them when he can slip away, five teens just allowed to actually be teenagers without Ozma's mystical bullshit getting in the way [much]. But they can never do it openly. Oz might be as much a teenager as the rest of them, but he's also been fighting Grimm since he was fourteen, the experience he gained from the collective Ozcarnations enough to make him a legend in his own right. Oz is very much a full Huntsman, for all that the ethics of that are iffy, it's still less iffy than those council idiots giving him Beacon.

So. Officially, team ST[O]RQ has four members, just like any other. But then? Then they get told to pick symbols to represent themselves. There's no way for them to register all five, colors or symbols... but by then Oz has granted the twins flight. So Taiyang picks a flaming heart, divided as though into wings of his own in tribute to their silent fifth member. Qrow chooses a gear to go inside his wing symbol, an echo of Oz without being obvious. He hopes. The gear is commented on several times over his time as a Huntsman, Qrow has certain regrets. Raven, whose favorite fairytale growing up was the infinite man and is rather sus, adds a clock to her wing symbol. Hey, Oz... she has suspicions. Maybe tell her? Nah? Okay then... that'll never backfire on you.

So the team forms. A white rose for Summer, a golden spread heart for Tai, a black wing with a clock in it for Raven and a red wing with Oz's gear in it for Qrow. He adds a second gear, hoping to be less obvious, but that doesn't really succeed either... hey Qrow, you can be a bit too adorable at times.

So yeah. Team STRQ probably consisted of five teenagers, each trying to find their place in the world. Summer's silver eyes would normally have been the major issue. Except, of course, that Ozpin is by then at least part Ozma. And magic in Remnant, of either variant, complicates things. Together? No wonder team STRQ is famous this long after it broke up...

You know, i find it very interesting how Ozpin's right-hand woman is a hot blond with green eyes, hair in a little bun with swoopy bangs and has purple and black as her colors. Hmmmm i'm sensing some unintentional projection

listen listen i need to say this to you because it’s about ozpin but

in volume 3 when he’s trying to transfer the maiden power to pyrrha he says he needs to hear her say yes and gives her a chance to back out (not a real chance, really. but a chance)

and in the lore dump episode we see that the god of light just. immediately accepted that ozma said ok and didn’t even like. have a chance to think about it

Honestly whenever I see edits of ozpin without his glasses, it always hits me how young he not only looks, but WAS

The mans canonically younger than Theodore, who's in his early-mid 40s. It's safe to assume ozpin was on his mid to late 30s, likely late 30s, MAYBE very early 40s. It doesn't sound that young but like

He was the YOUNGEST Headmaster. As in in history. And he was either just a professor when STRQ was made or he was Headmaster then, 17+ YEARS AGO. Ozpin was, iirc, stated to be a child prodigy, much like pyrrha, and likely became a Huntsman REALLY EARLY. As in he can't have been ANY older than RUBY currently is when he became Headmaster, or at least a professor.

Remember the fact that ozpin used to be JUST like oscar. Hell, he even said it himself in v4! Ozpin was also just a little kid, scared and confused, with an ancient wizard who was a King not that long ago. Like,, he had to have been Oscar's age, if not even younger, when the KoV reincarnated in him. And he became a Huntsman, a professor/Headmaster REALLY early.

Like. If pyrrha was fucked up by her status, then what about ozpin? I have no doubt he grayed early due to stress (his eyebrows are black so we can assume he had dark hair). Not just from being Headmaster but also being an ozcarnation. Not only that but he was a child prodigy, the youngest to become Headmaster. And we all know he was admired by EVERYONE, even his closest friends.

Honestly I never realized it before, but pyrrha and ozpin are really similar. Not in every aspect, but they were both put on a pedestal and had pressure put on their shoulders at a young age. They're both so very kind and understanding and just want their loved ones safe and sound. They were both also rarely treated as truly human, with maybe one exception for both of them (jaune for pyrrha, glynda for ozpin). Ozpin HATED offering pyrrha the fall Maiden powers bc he KNOWS what it's like. He absolutely didn't want the possibility of pyrrha ending up like him- with two souls in one body with a burden on their shoulders.

I just. I get so emotional thinking abt ozpin sometimes bc he was so young :(

Eira (Ozpin): uh… I’d say probably Vale or Mistral. Vale because, well, it’s my home.

But also because both countries cultures are really interesting. Although I’ve never really experienced Mistral or even Vale’s culture (despite living here…)

My parents never really let me out of the house much unless it was for business stuff…

Ozpin's definitely a rich kid, or at least he came from old money. his pin is a family heirloom, and Long Memory has been in his possession since he was a child.

he was the youngest to obtain Ozma's soul at the age of 5. for the longest time, he was assumed to have an imaginary friend in Ozymandias, previous King of Vale. eventually, after his parents death, Ozpin was taken in by a woman named Olivia Flora. she was his caretaker while he was trained and taught to become both the youngest Huntsman and youngest Headmaster Vale has to offer. the Council kept a very close eye on him, so Ozpin was never able to do much beyond sink into his stories. he loved fairytales and mystery novels, other-worldly stories that take him out of reality

Ozpin chose to make Team STRQ mostly to keep Raven and Qrow under control. Taiyang would provide a steady force against their intense natures, and Summer's natural kindness would, hopefully, rub off on them. he didn't know where they came from. he just knew they needed help adapting to everyday school life.

Qrow was picked for solo one-on-one training as Ozpin noticed just how intensely he fought his fellow students during training. he had no self control, so Ozpin chose to teach him alone. finally put a use to that big office of his and dent the glass floors with marks from blade hitting a solid steel cane.

Ozpin always knew he wouldnt live long. Ozymandias warned him since he was young that he was destined for greatness. to go down in history as a hero. Ozpin clung to that idea for a long time, but overtime, he became numb to the idea of death itself. eventually he would die, and nothing he did here would matter. he must make big marks or else he will just be another tally on the list. Ozpin was 19 during this realization

Ozpin went grey early, and only kept a few sprigs of deep brown hair as he went stark white from stress. his glasses are for light sensitivity, as well as being prescriptions

i really like young Ozpin :) i wanna do more of him :D

Ozqrow Week Day 7 - Alternate Prompt - Cooking Class

This one went in a slightly different direction again...

Qrow sniggered as Oz managed to burn yet another piece of toast. You’d think that being thousands of years old would be enough for him to have learned how to cook a bit better, though Qrow knew he couldn���t really talk either. At least Oz could bake which was more than Qrow could manage even on his best days, It wasn’t his fault, really, his semblance tended to take a malicious sort of delight in fouling up any meal he made. Eh, there were always rations and various inns scattered around if he really needed a hot meal. Even he couldn’t burn porridge that badly. And no, that wasn’t a challenge, in case his occasionally sentient semblance was taking any notes. Bad luck, that was all that ever followed him, so how had he gotten so lucky when it came to Oz? Because it was luck, it had to be. After all, why would he have looked at him twice even if he hadn’t turned out to be Immortal? There were clues in Oz’s accent that spoke of some sort of moneyed background, though the other man had never seemed to speak on the matter. Maybe he was embarrassed, maybe there was something darker behind his silences. Either way, it wasn’t like Qrow was in any position to judge.

Oz shot him an offended look. It wasn’t even like he was actually a bad cook, he’d just never seen the need to get used to the newer ways of doing things. Whoever had thought up a toaster had it out for him, really, no matter how he tried to set the thing the toast always burned anyway. He shot a suspicious look at Qrow but it had happened often enough without his presence that he couldn’t really blame the other man. He was rather certain Salem might have invented toasters just to spite him though he was rather tempted to try again. Surely they couldn’t run out of bread before they managed to get at least one slice right. Behind him, Qrow shook his head, though Oz pretended he hadn’t seen the movement. Whatever happened to just toasting bread over a fire, that was far easier than this appeared to be. Yes, he probably was very old fashioned, but then he was also very, very old. The toaster made a noise as though it was about to pop another piece out and he glared at it. He mustn’t use his magic to blow up the toaster, it was a waste of resources. He hadn’t been this tempted to throw that sort of a tantrum since he was a teenager, but then again he sort of was right now. Maybe it could be excused if he blamed hormones and a short temper? But then again, probably not, he was pretty certain the others wouldn’t buy it. He could already hear Nora snorting, feel the judgmental glare from Oscar… no. No, it was better to just concede. The toaster had won this round, but he’d be ready next time.

Maybe he really should sign up to those cooking classes, after all.

Qrow has a secret, one sided, rivalry with Ozpin as adults because Ozpin is 5 inches taller than him and he used to be shorter than him when they first met

He could give him lil kisses on the head, but now HE’S the one getting kisses on the head and he’s irrationally upset about it

And I’d always start giggling!

And I just think that Qrow would do that with the girls :D

Or Ozpin dancing with either of the girls. They’re standing on his feet while the two of them do a lil dance :)

A Saturday morning, Ozpin turns on some music, and one of the girls comes up to him and demands to dance with him.

I just think they’d be the best dads :)

I feel like when Ozma eventually manages to be split off from Oscar and finally finds peace, he's gonna end up looking like his first incarnation, but with white hair ala how Jaune returned to his 19 year old self with a white stripe.

He never did get to grow old, did he?
