Her husband managed to find out a way to wake her up, worked with a new government that staged a coup, his kids disowned him and believed she was dead, and he made 30+ clones that were used for sacrifices on the hypnosis mic prototype. What happens when she wakes up and sees his cast from his broken arm that their son did 😭 i also hope shes actually an interesting character and not just that 'perfect dead wife' trope thingy. Ik i saw a great Nayuta headcanon that i REALLY want to be canon. I also hope we get a Nayuta design drop. Personally, I dont think she'll overly look like Ramuda bc Rei knew what the Ramuda clones were used for, so I doubt hed want to see her likeliness keep dying.

weird swap au infodump incoming !!!

i was slightly anxious while thinking on other characters in the swap au but given i already made the decision to be a litte Weird with it i guess it’s not too much of an issue. everythings not really a 1:1 swap

not every single character has a swap because i want to center in on the primary cast. maybe that’ll change later and we’ll get ideas for less relevant characters and how we could change them around but for now try not to expect things like idk “ikutsuki and elizabeth swap” or some scary shit like that

i am admittedly struggling with what to do w the twins (the protags are twins in this au like with every other thing i make) outside of them still having the connecting line of losing their parents to an accident on moonlight bridge. they just didn’t get death sealed in them this time. but uh hey you don’t need that to happen to you for the events to result in Deep Issues. i think there IS something interesting there in that they wind up coming back to iwatodai all those years later, and they get roped into sees because of course they do. i think it’d be interesting to explore them through the lens of being normal party members at least. the only thing is that you don’t really get a solid ‘swap�� situation with them since mitsuru maintains some of their canon qualities while still not exactly moving from her typical role as heir to the kirijo group. more on that as me and the bestie talk details over

we actually are planning some pretty fun stuff with ryoji?? the wonderful thing is that ryoji is by all intents and purposes just a normal fucking guy in this au given all the appriser stuff goes to yukari. but as a general rundown here’s what he has going on

childhood friend to the twins, loves them dearly. was very sad when they moved after the accident, and overjoyed after they transferred back.

has a younger brother named pharos:)

the mochizuki family was close with the takebas, particularly eiichiro was close with them. you can imagine where im going with this. his death was a tragedy to them, but more than anything it spurs something on in ryoji as he grows older. the alignment of the accident resulting in eiichiro's death and the death of the twins' parents occurring in such a close span of time bothers ryoji. for something that had such a massive negative impact on the lives of two people that are insanely important to him to potentially have more behind it than meets the eye, it becomes a vague obsession. which of course, eventually leads him to sees.

his role replacing yukari in this au gives him a fraught relationship w mitsuru. his distrust is very…intimidating, because it’s not nearly as outright as canon yukari’s. when he’s pointing out inconsistencies in what info mitsuru lets them have, he’s calm, sporting a smile, but emitting coldness. mitsuru herself of course isn’t Unaware of the effect the kirijo group’s work has had on him, but i think being incapable of getting a proper read on ryoji a lot of the time definitely does her no favors.

next lets talk about aigis! i had a little too much fun adapting her.

taking after canon kikuno's role, aigis was a human child sold to the kirijo group. she has a naturally-awoken persona (something something ergo research offers a higher payout to her parents because of this)

after the failure of the persona experiments resulting in strega, aigis is adopted by a handful of scientists from ergo research (this is essentially a timeline where the events of aigis the first mission dont happen, at least not the same way. i figured itd be fun to give the characters introduced in that game an active role in this au). she lives in yakushima with them.

her upbringing has left her socially awkward and distant, and trust is hard for her to fully feel. the intention on behalf of her guardians was to make sure she wouldnt have to give herself to the group as a weapon if she didnt want to, while having a family that cares for her and is able to meet her needs as someone with a very unique situation. she accompanies them if they need to do something during the dark hour because shes capable of protecting them with her persona.

aigis is still recruited to sees during the yakushima trip. a la the movie, she protects mitsuru and ryoji from a hoard of shadows after they leave the kirijo estate at night without their evokers. knowing of sees due to how long shes been in proximity to the group, she asks to be transferred into their unit so that she can help directly combat the dark hour so it wont be a danger to her family anymore. she would still very much view herself as a weapon raised by the kirijo group despite her adoptive family trying so hard to help her unlearn it. she experiences some pushback about it of course because its inadvertently feeding into something she is meant to be unlearning, but she wants strongly for it so its not like they can fully deny her.

thats everything we've got cemented so far...we still have to figure out the other members of sees that need swapping but for now you can have these doodles. a kiku + some concepts for human aigis and non-protag femc

cc!tubbo is concerned, like, maybe too much, he misses his tommy but he's trying his best to be there for c!tommy since hes the one that's the most confused about literally everything that's been going on

obviously he wishes they could just swap back and act like nothing happened but something about sending c!tommy back knowing how brutal the dsmp is feels kinda wrong

also not to mention that tommy now also knows about the script and sending him back to a world that he knows is completely controlled by some idiots playing a game well,, let's just say you'll have to drag him kicking and screaming

Random attempts at thinking up a moveset for Dr Maddiman if he ever becomes playable someday. Tho this is probably pointless cos YW4 seems to have a wildly different no longer rpg-based battle system that probably means everyone gets different stats now. Ehh, well I cant really predict how thats gonna play out so I may as well just go with the current games!

Atrribute: Drain (already canon for his boss form) Tribe: Heartful (obvious choice) Rank: E??? (the one sticker he has as his only piece of merchandise gives him the lowest rank possible and i can only guess thats meant to represent he’s a boss because WHY WOULD HE BE THAT??)

Attack: Surgical Swipe (same as boss form. Random aside: Its called Scalpel Zapper in japanese which doesnt make a lot of sense as he isnt an electric type. Maybe it was meant to be Ripper instea-

OKAY TAKE TWO AT ATTACK: Doctor Ripper (is literally the same as his boss mode attack but stronger because SODA PUNS)

Inspirit: Change Of Heart (his signature move, gotta keep it! Could just work the same but now it confuses enemies instead of you? or maybe instead take the chance to make a new effect, maybe it swaps the skills between yokai?)

Technique: Life Support

Heals all allies and raises their max HP. I’m thinking it’s less powerful than most other healing yokai, and gets even less so every turn since its giving you more hp. But, well, ITS GIVING YOU MORE HP! A great utility for marathon battles where you have enough time to get nuts with it. (It stacks!)

(this is just cos none of his boss techniques would really work as a playable character. I suppose you could do the soultimate gauge depletion one but itd feel just fuckin weird to have the boss categorized entirely by healspam be devoid of any healing moves.)

Soultimate: Get Well Doom! (Again, its already perfect, my lads! Having a move to cause a mass poison effect/maximum damage tiles all over the screen is just really fuckin cool and we need that power in our hands yo. Well, his son already basically has a depowered version of the same move, but yeah.)

Skill: Deathperation (Increases the amount of healing/poisoning his attacks do, the closer he is to 1HP. Or maybe whenever he’s hurt he heals a small amount to all allies? Name is from basically the closest you can get to his japanese name in english.)

RANDOM ADDITIONAL PERHAPS: if they ever hypothetically give us a canonical design for his wife and have her come back as a yokai too, it’d be neat if she had a moveset revolving around helping with setup for maddiman and nocturne’s moves. Like a soultimate thats a quarterback tackle pushing all the enemies back a row so they land on the damage tiles. (Punny name idea: Go To Your Room!) And maybe an inspirit that increases the amount of damage an enemy takes from other inspirits? Combo momma! Also I’m picturing her being a high def type with the same Skill as Leadoni, perhaps. Just basically let this sad lil family be together again and let them absolutely kick ass in a fight!

prefacing ALL of this with; This is my opinion, what I think would be interesting, and not something I think the show necessarily should have done. I’m writing this as a fun what-if, for fun. I understand that this would be an entirely different story and I don’t care

pt 2 of Saturday BNHA thoughts; I think they jumped into the kids fighting adults way too quickly. 

In mp100, children having to fight adults and getting hurt by adults, is treated with a lot more gravitas. It’s dangerous, it’s horrible, its something they and you want not to happening. But in BNHA their first major fight is against adults, as are most subsequent fights, and I feel that it drains some of the inherent tension.

This is not to say that the fights are never tense. I just think that instead of ‘start going to high school ->fight fully grown adult criminals���, there are steps in between that could build up to it, so that a fight against adult villains would feel like a bigger deal, and feel inherently tense even before you find out what that villain’s quirk/deal is

(and i know that might just be a part of their world, maybe children are expected to fight adults early on (which again goes to show their world is super messed up but thats a topic for another time), but from the point of a view of an audience member, i think them having to fight a real villain should be rarer and more exciting.

So how do you solve this? Have the first antagonists be Class 1-A itself

It’s always been kind of weird to me that U.A. is treated as the best of the best elite private hero school, a very lucrative business, but so many of Class 1-A treat it so casually. Doubly weird is that so many of their quirks are honestly underwhelming.

I think it could be cool if unorthodox use of quirks was a bit rarer at this point. so while most got in by blunt force, others who didn’t like Ochako, stand out more. 

maybe they already have connections in the hero world, maybe they could buy their way in, maybe they have their own preconceived notions of what a hero is and a random kid from a single-parent house who was quirkless most of his life doesn’t fit it. (also its still weird that all of Class 1-A wants to be heroes for the same reason, just out of its perceived inherent good? It’s boring from a character pov). In any case, they are not automatically friendly to Midoriya.

They wouldn’t be bullies, exactly (except a few could be bc if they’d let Bakugou in they’d let kids like him in), but antagonistic; maybe cold, maybe dismissive, maybe openly hostile. They’re driven to be there, driven to stay, driven to get rid of anything that they think will jeopardize their chance or slow them down. some are probably more than a little entitled. they’re almost all focused on being number one because that’s what their culture encourages, individual might and achievement over teamwork.

You know Teru from Mob Psycho, before his character development? Imagine eight of him crammed into one classroom and told to work together for three years.

Again not to say that they’d all be like this! Iida could stay the same, Bakugou (even though I hate him), Ochako, most of the secondary characters. I just think swapping out the minor characters who don’t do anything with ones that can provide antagonistic tension and change the culture of the classroom could be a good use of space. And especially swap out ones used for one-note jokes like Invisible girl and mineta 

We could see Midoriya struggle two-fold; fighting to master a quirk he can barely use, and against a class that is a microcosm of hero society as a whole, one that associates value with physical ability and/or family connections, not kindness or actually heroic qualities. Some he may defeat, some he might even win over and convince to be his friend, idk! But itd be some kind of non life or death tension. 

He could struggle, and as he gets the hang of his powers he could also learn to stand his ground against his classmates, hammering in the theme the audience sees at the beginning, that powers or a diploma or a license doesn’t make someone a hero, and there would be lots of buildup in character interactions and non-life or death fights, so when life or death fights came up they’d feel actually dangerous

idk how a hacked profile would work in that sort of setting. like, the amount of work that’d be required to get into that academy, fake that profile, and have them not blink an eye? damn. i dont know if itd be fully possible to do. maybe the profile itself isn’t hacked, but just the credentials. like, that they’re using someone elses profile? that could be interesting. not sure what theyd be doing or how theyd be a skilled enough pilot, but im sure you could explain some of that stuff away with time and work.

that or they got in legit, everythings above board, but they’ve tampered with their profile to get access to something they should not have? not sure i feel like the latter would easy to identify depending on how limited a profile is. all the backups would show them using shit they shouldnt. whereas if they think youre X, and you’re using X’s profile as intended, noone will notice anything wrong on the systems data. the thing that’s wrong is that you are Y, not X.  could have it be a blackwall set up, pretending to be someone who died so noone finds out. wouldnt wanna copy the blackwall thing entirely, natch, but something like that. why they’re pretending to be X could be anything from protecting X’s legacy to filling X’s gap because they can’t fight right now, etc. could be interesting for a family thing. tho in that case very little hacking would probably have been required? more just a sort of Gattaca esque thing of pretending to be someone else? i have a very limited scifi vocabulary, if you can’t tell (fuck gattaca, also)

idk. id have to think about it waaaay harder for how to implement any sort of ‘you shouldnt be here’ shenanigans. its easier in my soft fantasy settings because nobody knows shit. scifi bureaucracy makes that way tougher to explain how someone managed to get past all the measures designed to prevent it. if they dont use biometrics youre probably ok, though. as long as you look and act the part. which would mean thered be no tell on their profile that somethings wrong, unless suddenly the profile is being used twice (because the originator of the profile has come back online, so to speak). that would definitely be a red flag. like, we’ll plot the course. character A is a pilot. At some point, something happens to them which means they need to take a break - presumably something they cannot tell their superiors about. so their sibling, character B, assumes A’s identity and when A’s allowed break finishes, B shows up as them. B acts as A for the majority of the story (likely causing conflict with the captain or another character because they were friends with A, but B does not know them). However, back home, A has managed to solve their problem, and attempts to get in contact with B to tell them they need to take a quick break so that the two can swap back before someone finds out. Except B cannot take a break, because the alien war is ramping up or something, and when they broach the topic they get told they absolutely cannot leave, because they had a break not that long ago and god dammit they are needed on the field. But A can’t stand by as the war ramps up, and engineers a way to get back into space (idk, stealing a ship). which then flags on their shared profile that its being used in two different places. and initially noone notices because most of the time the it team is only checking the most recent flight, and if they’re flying at different times there’s no issue. but then they end up flying at the same time. 

the issue there is that the it people assume that B is the legit one, and A is some sort of grifter (even if the reverse is technically true). But they can’t shut down the profile, because it would shut down both flyers. But the moment B comes back to base, the it team bring it up. And B has to try and convince them not to ground the active A profile because they know its their sibling, and grounding the profile could get them killed depending on whats going on. and i guess they convince them to send a comms request+interceptor to go find out who the rogue is, with B fully expecting that they’re about to be found out as a fraud.

presumably before A is intercepted, B gets sent out again (yknow, War) and so B would be mid-mission when the base realises that something is horribly wrong. or something! literally the basic set up is that B replaces A because they look the same and A is really busy (not sure what would be happening that they wouldn’t be able to explain it and just take long sick leave?), but then that A comes back later and suddenly the A profile is online twice because they’re both using it. presumably once A is better/done/w/e they simply go to a different starport once B is unable to get leave for them to swap back? and ofc both starports insist that their A is the real A. thats a good way to do it, have A be just at a different base. and so both bases would be confused and communicating back and forth. and ooooh the thing is, when B arrived to take A’s place, they had to bring A’s ID. because the minimal biometrics wouldnt have worked. so if there was like, a fingerprint scan or anything, it wouldn’t work for B, so they’re using A’s access card. But A themself is using the biometrics, because they don’t have the card. and so as soon as the two bases (with their like, central authority) realise that one of the users is using the more easily faked system, theyre gonna get nixed. which is all good and fine until you realise that the fake pilot A is in the middle of a battle. oh dear. that’d be fun stuff

More alt colour ideas! Blue katie and pink nate! And maybe their symbols also swap positions cos i always found it a bit of a missed opportunity that nate has this cool star shaped hole in his chest but katie's is just like a sticker. Heart shaped holes in chests are an awesome monster design trait!! Like ive only ever seen that before on the biggest and baddes Heartless in Kingdom Hearts! Also maybe a colour swap where their colours are less just gendered ones and more of their actual signature colours in their design? Katie does have some pink in her design but her outfit is more white and green honestly. And nate doesnt have any blue on him except his shoes which are a totally different shade of blue anyway! Give this boy his funky red colourscheme!

Possibly add a Hailey variant of the protagonist ghost species? Maybe her design could be slightly alien-y, like having a saturn ring around her tail? Also lol her design has way more pink and blue than both of the others, but her colour in character select menus is gold so I Guess That, Then.

Maybe even have some variants for other friend characters around the town? I think Eddie would probably look quite similar to hailey's ghost form but bear could look a lot different! Imagine a buff marshmallow ghost, omg! And Buck from the third game could have his big hair become plumes of smoke in ghostly form

Obvious idea: Fuu2 and Mee2 cosplaying in the same outfits as their human forms. Or maybe just a variant where you can use them in battle but their model is that of their human forms instead of their yokai ones? Like just stick one of those human illusion leaves on their forehead and there you go, new variant with relatively little modelling effort!

Possibly a variant thats like "what if they became different types of yokai"? Like one of the ghost types thats more of a cariacatured humanoid with no legs and a cool outfit, like dr nocturne or auntie heart or shadowside whisper. Or jibanyan versions! Or totally random yokai, who knows!

Maybe even an original idea of how they'd look as boss forms? I can imagine Nate's 'im so average' thing manifesting in being a very generic kind of tough coolness, like i dunno a generic angel metaphor dragon that turns into one of those bishie angel final boss forms. And maybe katie could be..i dunno, a sphinx? Just because her portrayal in the anime is so all over the place you cant puzzle out whether the writers liked her or not, abd she only exists to be the Problem Of The Day for Nate and such. So my brain went riddles -> sphinx?? Or maybe a manticore or chimera or something? Or a plant monster entirely because the dub translation of ghost katie's inspirit attack calls it 'rooting for you' and 'a cute little root'. Which is as adorable it is grammatically confusing! But generally i feel like i just wanna subvert the cliche of the female bosses in games being just humans in skimpy outfits or whatever, and all monsterous bosses being male. Yokai watch itself doesnt fall into that (barely has any female bosses tho) but i just felt like itd be a bit rude to katie cos shes reduced to love interest cliches in the anime. She needs to be some sort of cool badass boss yokai to remind you this is Protagonist Katie!! Oh maybe instead of a scorpion tail her manticore form could have her yokai watch as a tail? Or if she has to be humanoid then give her a badass suit of armour and a sword. Its hard to think of something for her cos in the anime she barely seems to have any personality except "girl", and in the games her and nate are both the same snarky badass protag. Like game nate doesnt really have the 'im so average' thing even tho his yokai form still has it as an ability.

Its hard to think of any other variant ideas cos theyre just lil marshmallows with so few design traits to work with...
