my girlfriend and i tailgate, drink gin and cider out of cups. from the frat group beside us, a man corrects himself with one of his friends: bro, i mean, nonbinary entity, and it makes everyone around him laugh, myself included. he razzes his friend the same way i would have killed for at 19 years old - like nothing happened, he continues: you apply sunscreen like an alien. he does a little sassy (and fairly accurate) dance interpretation of the motion. his friend is laughing so hard they're crying.

i am lucky, i live in a safe neighborhood in a safe state. my masc passenger princess comes up from DC. i drive her for an hour to where all the leaves are a violent arrangement of color. we walk along the trails, letting autumn into our blood. in this part of the state, there's a lot of pickup trucks and trump signs. when we chastely kiss before getting into the car, i accidentally make eye contact with a woman holding her child's wrist. she looks disgusted. she looks fucking pissed.

two hours later my girl and i are eating dinner on a patio, soaking in the last warmth of new england sun before the chill of winter sets in. we are giggling and trying to talk through plastic vampire teeth. at another table, i see a young woman sit up straighter. i watch her watch us. she blushes and takes her partner's hand from across the table. shy, like the taste of evening has just become something deeper.

it's worth it for this moment, i think. my lover is still humming the same song she's been singing for four days straight and i don't want to kill her for it. her guitar is beside my bed. her toothbrush is in my bathroom. in a few moments i will make us lunch. we are lucky enough to have found each other. it is lucky enough to be in love.

How many people would actually identify as non-binary, agender, and other pretentious gender identities if social media didn’t exist? If they actually had to communicate their egotistical labels to others face-to-face, rather than simply tacking them onto their social media bios?

These identities clearly only thrive in realms that are both highly detached from reality and heavily associated with anonymity, because these are the realms where it’s easiest to remove your physical being from the equation and operate as though you are an avatar with all the niche characteristics you desire. They’re essentially role-players who strayed so far into their fictive narrative that they never found their way back.

It’s actually unsettling and almost creepy how heavily these identities rely on a separation from material reality and lack of face-to-face interaction with other humans. It reeks of escapism, social dysfunction, and unhealthy coping mechanisms all around.

i'm not trying to start anything, but i just saw a post criticizing misha collins for not choosing to quit spn when the network was homophobic and he was "profiting from homophobia" and i just think it's kind of... wild? that young people think that a person could just. decide to not work for a prejudiced corporation when they have a family to provide for?

i don't know, i don't even really want to debate or go into it more, but it's just kind of surreal to see opinions from people who weren't there in 2013 when misha collins was literally the only person willing to support not just destiel shippers but actual queer and trans and ace fans. i have no doubt that he saved lives through the care he showed to vulnerable young people who desperately needed to see someone give a damn about them. he's significantly flawed in many ways, but he will always be a saint in my eyes for how much he cared.

like i just don't think that people accustomed to this modern era where hardly anyone blinks over two men kissing on tv can understand what it was like when we were mocked and silenced, when we weren't allowed to breathe the word 'destiel' without getting booed, and misha was the only damn person who spoke up for us. the only one. who was probably risking his job in saying the things he did.

things have changed. that's wonderful. don't judge people surviving previous eras by the standards of today.

Testosterone in a female body has more risks, and more serious risks, than estrogen in a male body.

It also causes more physical changes, which make detransition more difficult. The majority of male detransitioners get off scott free and are able to integrate back into society as males relatively easily.

This means that women (females) are suffering the brunt of transition-related health concerns, as well as the brunt of social issues post detransition.

At the same time, men (males) are the loudest and most influential people in the trans community. They are the ones pushing policies. They are the ones making decisions at the high level. They’re often the ones in charge of trans advocacy organizations and sometimes even gender clinics.

Clearly this is a recipe for disaster. And it’s just one more axis of the oppression of females by males.

Sega from what I've seen both Frontiers and Sonadow Generations have been good. For the love of god you need to keep on this roll. Keep making just banger games that make everyone who previously made fun of Sonic go "oh shit this is actually really good." Keep getting "VERY POSITIVE" or "OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE" on Steam reviews. And then spend 3 years making the next game, and make it absolutely spectacular. Honestly when I hear people say “not receiving gender affirming surgeries will make me feel suicidal” I hear the same thing as if someone said “if I don’t get a nose job I’ll feel suicidal”

It’s a physical insecurity that wouldn’t exist in a vacuum. I’m sorry that you were influenced to feel this way, but surgery will not fix something that is rooted in self-hatred. If you change it with surgery, you will find another insecurity to fixate on within a week.

Also, can we talk about how rebranding gender affirming surgery as some life-saving procedure is just promoting and glamorising a very misogynistic and corrupt industry.
