Hi Puts!!

I hope you’re doing well! Thank you for always sharing information about pretty much everything, along your thoughts. After every event I always look forward to reading your reviews/comments.

You’ve pretty much inspired me to learn Japanese (along with the girls)! I’m even studying abroad in Japan this fall!! My exact days are August 22 - December 22.

I wasn’t sure I would be able to go until quite late (my program sucks at communications info) so I’ve been busy dealing with preparing to go to Japan, that I haven’t applied or bought any tickets! (Pretty much panicking at this point since I don’t know when I’ll be back).

Unfortunately YK vol.#20 tour ends before I arrive which I’m so depressed about since I loved every setlist (especially with Hikaru now performing T_T) (hoping she has more performances). Thankfully there’s still Wakana’s Classics, but I’m trying to figure that out still.

I was wondering if you knew any upcoming performances where there’s a good chance I can buy tickets still (whether online or at door) or have any advice on what I should do? I know there’s the Highway Star Party event but I’m not really interested in that. I will have a japanese phone number, address, and residency card so hopefully even the trickier tickets don’t cause any problems.

Also is there anywhere you suggest I visit? Restaurants and food? I plan to do a deep search and visit places the girls have mentioned ^ ^, more specifically around Tokyo.

Anyways, sorry for the long post/ask. Thank you for everything you’ve done!!

Thank you for this lovely message! And wow! That sounds amazing! I hope you'll have a great time in Japan.

What a shame though that you won't make it in time for the last YKL Vol#20 performance with Hikaru as guest vocalist. As of right now, I don't think they are planning to add any more dates for Japan. They have been known to announce at least one or two additional performances for Tokyo in the past but this year, it looks like they will end the main portion of the tour this weekend in Saitama. However, there are four concerts scheduled for November in China, Thailand and Malaysia. Chances are high that Hikaru will be invited as guest vocalist for these. Keep an eye out for any updates on that! We don't have any details yet but if you get the chance to go on a short weekend trip, I'd definitely recommend you get yourself a ticket and check out one of those places.

Overseas Performances YKL Vol.#20 Tour The performances are scheduled for November 2024. YK and her team will be returning to Shanghai (China), and will be performing for the first time in Guangzhou (China), Bangkok (Thailand), and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

It may be a bit too late for this but you should 100% try to get a ticket for Keiko's upcoming fan club event! Just a few days ago, they announced a second lottery round so there's still a chance to apply for tickets until August 4! I don't know if you are a member of Keiko's FC but you could technically still register and hopefully finish the procedure in time to take part in the ticket lottery. Please note though that you'll probably need help from someone in Japan when using Lawson Ticket.

Aside from possibly joining the YKL Vol#20 Asia tour leg, Hikaru will also be holding her very own solo tour during the winter time. Again, we don't have any details yet but once further infos get announced, I recommend you get your hands on a couple of tickets for one or two of those concerts. The Toyama live in particular is something I'd aim for if you want to have the best possible experience. Also a great opportunity to explore Hikaru's hometown

The FC ticket lotteries for Wakana Classics are already over but there will be other options available soon. Last year, ticket playguide lotteries for non-FC members took place in October (with a subsequent regular sale) so I expect the same to happen this year. Just be patient a little while longer. They will most likely launch a dedicated webpage on the BSFuji website with some more infos on the concert and where to get tickets.

As for food and restaurants, that's very difficult for me to answer because I typically try to visit places that the girls have recently been to (I guess it's more of a spontaneous thing?). I do my best to keep track of all the good spots but it's a struggle T_T I suck at everything that's related to locations. However, you can check out my MEDIA posts on Twitter to see pictures of some of the spots I've already visited. I usually add a little description to my tweets so you should be able to figure out which places I'm talking about.

Three very popular Kalafina pilgrimage places are definitely Tsurutontan Roppongi (from an old blog post), La Maison Kioi (from a SPICE interview) and Shinagawa Aquarium (from a FC Harmony feature). Here's a blog post where I talk about visiting all three of them. One day, I want to eat at all the gyoza restaurants that Wakana has recommended in her fan club magazines but that's actually not so easy since most of those places are tiny and require a reservation.

You should also try to make short day trips to Ishikiri-Sanmyaku and Oya History Museum (best done with a group of locals or fellow fans). Both are beautiful locations which were used for various music videos (Kalafina's "Hyakka Ryouran", Hikaru's "Alterna-ate-", Kalafina's "Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa", Wakana's "Butterfly Dream").

Sorry I can't provide a better list but hopefully, this will help at least a little bit.

I have a little question... I'm really thinking about going to the Kajifes in December but I don't know what's smarter... To pass through Keiko's fan club (is it even possible for foreigners? Maybe i don't have enough time anyway...and I think it's over for the FJ fan club...) Or simply wait for info for the general ticketing for overseas customers via the Kajifes website... I can't grasp if it'll be hard to get tickets or if I can just relax and wait and see... Or is there another way that I'm not aware of? 🥹

I've been a fan for so long, but it's my first realizing I'm an adult now so I can just travel and go lol, so I'm not so sure how to proceed about the tickets ><

Correct, the FictionJunction Station FC lottery ended on May 7 and the results have already been announced (Note: I won my ticket for Day 2, BANZAI!!🤗).

Keiko's FC lottery started on May 8 and will end on May 17 so you technically still have time to apply if you are a member. However, that ticket lottery is hosted on e+ which requires a registered account (SMS verification via Japanese phone number necessary) so it is quite troublesome to apply as a foreigner.

Those who purchased the new FJ album "PARADE" may make use of the included serial code to take part in another special CD lottery which ends on June 7. Although once again, e+ is handling the lottery so it's not the most appealing option for foreigners.

The upcoming general lottery will also be hosted on e+ and is about to start on May 15 with a deadline of June 14.

Unless you know someone in Japan or have a lot of experience with a variety of proxy services, I honestly recommend that you wait until they announce ticket details for overseas travelers.

The platform e+ has their own overseas service which makes it very convenient for us foreigners to purchase tickets. There's no verified registration needed, typically you will buy a ticket straight away with no lottery, they accept overseas payment methods and you just pick up your ticket at the counter on the day of the event. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. I am expecting them to announce more infos on this foreigner-friendly option once all the lotteries are done, so around mid June. They might take their sweet time though so don't hold your breath just yet. As soon as they have made their announcement, you shouldn't hesitate, you will have to act quickly since it's all on a first come, first served basis. For YKL Vol 18, they didn't reserve a huge number of tickets for foreigners which resulted in tickets being sold out rather quickly so I assume the same will happen for YKL Vol 19 (= Kaji Fes). I will definitely be keeping everyone up-to-date on this!

As always, I would like to write a little live report as I watch the stream. Will be adding my thoughts about each performance of the setlist below. I am not at all familiar with some of those songs so it’s going to be quite exciting. I am most looking forward to sprinter and the KnY main theme.

1) overture〜Main theme of Kimetsu no Yaiba: Keiko’s KnY medley was SO GOOD when I saw it in Taiwan back in 2019 so I am beyond excited for this!! Goosebumps all over!! The instrumentals alone are worth dying for! Keiko’s chanting is a lot more reminiscent of Chiaki Ishikawa’s style than it was back during YKL #15, it sounds a bit like she is trying to emulate her unique voice but either way, she still absolutely SLAYS. This is so flawless and I can’t believe we now have HQ footage of it. 2) the sea is never without a wave Dayum! What a great transition from the already epic KnY main theme...Never heard this before but wow, instant love. Another epic piece with chanting in Kajiura-go. For anyone who is wondering, it’s from Fena: Pirate Princess. After listening to the first two songs, I think they may have added a little too much background vocals in post production. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds good but it’s a little overbearing and might be drowning out the vocals of our utahimes. I know that during the actual live performances, they usually don’t have such elaborate background vocals, they typically add them for home video releases to enhance the performance but sometimes they can overdo it a bit. 3) vise versa Another song from Fena: Pirate Princess with a very heavy focus on Joelle. Keiko was not on stage for this. It was okay but nothing to write home about. 4) time to sail! The Fena: Pirate Princess theme continues with yet one more epic and triumphant chorus piece. Short but super neat. 5) what she was here for This marks the end of the Fena: Pirate Princess medley. We are back to Joelle on main. Nothing memorable for me. I am sorry to all Joelle fans but I’ve still not quite warmed up to her. 6) それは小さな光のような (Sore wa Chiisana Hikari no you na) A self-cover of the main theme of the populal anime movie “Erased”. It was originally sung by pop singer Sayuri but for this version Keiko is in charge. I think I briefly listened to the original version at one point and didn’t like it at all (wasn’t a fan of the vocals/melody). Keiko’s version sounds completely different and so much better though! She is supported by Kaori and Yuriko. Overall I would say it’s not one of my favourite YK songs though .Ughhh, I really wanted to love it, I don’t know why but the melody doesn’t do much for me. However, I do like that Keiko gets to show off a bit by playing with different styles and registers. 7) fiction Will never like this. 8) 花守の丘 (Hanamori no Oka) An old favourite. Always a pleasure. 9) Lotus More nostalgia. YESSS! Hanae! I love her! Amazing as always. 10) inverse operation We continue with Hanae in the lead. it’s a track from The Case Study of Vanitas. Completely new to me but I like it. I will forever be weak for Hanae’s operatic vocals. 11) le chasseur We are being spoiled. This was lovely. Hanae sounds amazing. Loved those hints of harpsichord (?) in the instrumental parts. 12) 目覚め (Mezame) It’s one of those songs where I don’t miss Wakana’s absence all that much so I can thankfully still enjoy it. Mezame has always been one of my favourite YK songs and so far I have liked all renditions. Hanae is the original singer and her version is perfect. I am also quite fond of Yuriko as lead but of course I will always be a tiny bit partial to Wakana’s version XD 13) もう君のことを見たくない (Mou Kimi no Koto wo Mitakunai) [rito] Awww, rito seems quite nervous. She comes across as extremely young. Couldn’t find anything on her age but she must be quite young and inexperienced. My first impression of the song: I am surprisingly into it. It’s good. A very solid ballad. I really like the melody, it still reminds me of that one time when Kalafina covered Chihiro Onitsuka’s 月光 (Gekkou). At first I wasn’t sure about rito’s vocals but I think I could maybe get used to them. Her voice is not super baby-like which I appreciate. There’s an interesting edge that makes her singing quite emotive/expressive, at least in my opinion. But I can’t say that I love her voice or anything. 14) 8月のオルガン (Hachigatsu no ORGAN) [LINO LEIA] The chorus is super catchy but I still don’t understand how so many fans are comparing her to Wakana. Yes, they use a similar “style” and YK is obviously writing parts for her that are very reminiscent of the ones she would write for Wakana but her voice is quite different. Some are saying she sounds like Yuuka which is more fitting I think but also not quite accurate. Yuuka has a sort of child-like quality to her voice, LINO LEIA’s voice is a bit more mature than that. Neither of them sound as mature, warm and feminine as Wakana though. Anyways, I am still on the fence about her voice, we’ll see if I come to like it eventually. On a side note, I’ve now seen some fans refer to rito as fake-Hikaru and LINO LEIA as fake-Wakana XD  15) elemental Next please. 16) zodiacal sign Solid. Always a pleasure. So much fanservice XD 17) parallel hearts I probably would have disliked this version a lot but since I never cared for the original either, this was simply meh. Nothing good or bad to say about it. Kudos to Joelle for trying her best to lean into the Wakana-singing-style. She did a pretty decent job here. Encore EN 1) overture〜swordland I really love those gorgeous and grand instrumentals with epic chorus work. Makes me look forward to that SAO anniversary event on November 6. EN 2) luminous sword Another old fave. Never gets old. So good! EN 3) sprinter (with Hikaru) Okay, I really didn’t expect to cry because as we all know, I have never been the biggest fan of the normal version of sprinter but damn, this hit me right in the feels. I definitely teared up seeing Hikaru and Keiko on stage like this, having so much fun and singing this song which obviously means so much to them and the audience. *sobs* I loved the higher harmonies added by Yuriko. Joelle’s parts felt out of place to me, especially towards the end. I am so sorry, Joelle, I really don’t mean to bash you all the time! It’s not your fault but here you really have no chance of ever “replacing” Wakana. Not that she is trying to replace her but I guess people know what I mean... EN 4) sweet song This is one of my all-time favourite songs so I am always happy when they sing it. Such a great ending piece to a live.

I really had a lot of fun with most of this, glad I bought a ticket.

News regarding YKL Vol.#16 ～Sing a Song Tour～ 

I haven’t really been posting any of the announcements regarding this tour since they were super vague and I don’t think the info is currently relevant to foreign fans. I doubt anyone will be travelling to Japan in the near future. But who knows, maybe some of you are already vaccinated and planning your Japan summer trip. Now that the details seem to have been finalised, here’s what you need to know :
