Psalms of the Living
hosannan
There are psalms of the living whispered amidst the sheets of rain. She knew she had someone waiting for her at home, but Nanna would not rest until she redeemed herself worthy in her own eyes. It was strange, really. There had always been a silent knocking in her head, preening her feathers and asking of her something that did not come easy. Her people looked to her to healâ in her presence she corralled rays of light to shower upon the injured. It was beautiful, heartrending work, tasked to her as a duty, a message, an unspoken symbol. But the sword had always come easier to her. This she kept close to her chest, knowing that the Earth spoke and she could come back trembling. As she worked tirelessly to hone her skill in magic, Nanna knew where her heart was truly buried.
As she breathed, a gossamer of warmth vanished into the rain. Her fingers frayed, spread intently to curry any sparks, any embers that were intent on fluttering out of her lifestream. Nothing. Again then. She bit down on the side of her cheek, praying to any which god to grant her magic on this land. Baldr? Bragi? Faint strings of light met each of her fingertips, and she gaspedâ breaths steadying to make good on a catâs cradle. However, as lightning cracked, Nanna felt her soul jolt out of her system, causing the faint strings of magic to sputter into lifelessness.
She would pray again. She must pray again. Her hands trembled, trying to make do. Reason-based magic was different than Faith, correct? What was she to do when these prayers did not consolidate with her very own reason? On these lands, she understood the concept yet remained a stranger in execution.
Lightning struck again, closer still. And Nanna wondered⌠what of the moon? She knew she was close to a breakthrough, but there was nothing to show. All but her silk lined uniform soaked, and the rain cutting straight to bone.
Nanna gained one skill point. Reason E -> E+.
She could sing psalms of the living all she wanted, but, in the name of the rain, there was only one clear answer calling back.
Raven never allowed himself to forget that he was a ghost. He moved about the monastery, living this stolen life, and occasionally he found that there were those here who liked what they saw when Raymond, the Student was on display â but he never fooled himself. Raymond was a puppet on borrowed time, loan after loan, begging the saints to just give him a little more time!Â
But he could not afford to let himself forget: Raymond of Cornwell was dead. Just like his mother, just like his father, just like - Â
He squeezed his fist tight around the hilt of his sword, the first drops of rain announcing their presence on his face as an interruption to his thoughts, a chastisement for the direction they were going.Â
What right did a ghost have to bother the living? Raymond of Cornwell had had a sister, once upon a time, but she had been ripped from him just as everything else had. No. Kinder.Â
It didn't matter. She was gone.Â
The drops that had fallen in warning seemed unforgiving in that moment, their herald rather late as thousands of their fellows fell to the earth in quick succession, splattering his hair to his forehead. He scoffed, ducking under the eaves of the training area and out into the academy quad. It was an unfortunate journey from there to his dormitory, even if he made a break for it â better the long way round, catch the last bell for dinner, wait for the rain to pass.Â
The lightning flashed nearby, and Raven sped his pace, raising an arm to shield himself, and within moments the thunder followed, a hollowed boom that echoed in his chest. Then, again, and from the corner of his eye Raven caught the shape of a person, alone, huddled against themselves.Â
"Hey," he called out over the din. With a frown, he changed direction â best to see if they were all right. "Hey!" he called again.Â
The lightning seared against the sky once more, and Raven froze, the world around him stilling to silence, silence louder than the rain, louder than the heart in his chest, louder than the sound of laughter echoing in a corner of his mind, two children tucked away in safety, the sparkling of green eyes and the flash of a smile piercing through him and leaving him cold.Â

If you got a boyfriend, I'm jealous of him. But if you're single, that's honestly worse [Tyler x Reader x Bjorn] [NSFW, 18+ ONLY]
He doesn't know what's worse; his cousin's girlfriend or the fact that he can't get her off his damn mind.
A/N: 18+ only!!! i promise igddtdts is STILL in the works but I wanted to get this lil brain bunny out ehehehehe yes the song is a line from gorgeous by taylor swift also PS this is a FIC in no way do I condone cheating or anything like that so like. Don't go out and do that, it's bad!!!!! I'm DEBATING a part 2 for this but we'll see
Warnings: jealous behavior, possessive thoughts, Temptationâ˘ď¸, cheating, Bjorn knows he's fucked up here but he makes no efforts to change LMAO, exhibitionism, accidental overhearing of Sex, Cheeky Wank Mentionâ˘ď¸, sexual acts, Tyler's face gets ridden, unprotected sex (wear a condom!!!), reader is a lil bit of an attention seeking minx ehehe, footsie
He can't stand her.
Tyler's new girlfriend is a sweet thing, always attached to him at the hip, it seems.
She works down at the housing offices, had met Tyler when he'd came by to pay rent and sparks had flown. Or some shite.
Tyler is head over heels, acting like a fucking sap most days. It's not surprising, he'd acted as such with Rain when that doomed relationship had been a thing.
But Rain and Tyler had broken up (damn near split the entire group too, fuck you very much), had been over for some years now, it was natural for his cousin to go out and get out there again.
Hell, Bjorn had encouraged it. In less than polite terms, of course.
But damn, did Tyler need to get fucking laid. His cousin had been tense more often than not, always frowning, always moping.
Sad sod.
And so, he'd met her.
He'd made some dumb joke about rent that Bjorn couldn't even bother to remember, and she'd supposedly found it hilarious, and bam, here they were, going strong a year later.
He hadn't minded her, at first.
Sure, her laugh was always the loudest, easy to pick out amongst others. She laughed way too easily, seemed to find everything funny.
Sure, her smile was the brightest, brighter than any star Bjorn could recall seeing. It was toothy, framed by perfect lips, which looked oh so sof-
But then that had started.
His thoughts tended to wander, now.
She would show up to the shitty bar they'd deigned their hang out, wearing those damn pencil skirts that hugged her hips and backside just so, or those slacks that made her legs look longer. Her blouse would be untucked, a button or two undone and her elegant neck exposed. Sometimes her eyes locked with his for a beat too long and he felt a fucking current shoot up his spine.
Innocent enough.
But oh, how Bjorn had thought about tearing that skirt right off of her body, collapsing to his knees and feasting on her pussy until the only name she knew was his. Hell, he'd do it in front of Tyler, if he had to, just to get the fucking point across-
Fuck, he was fucked.
If there was a hell, he was going straight there. Normal blokes didn't fantasise about fucking their cousin's girlfriend. A cheeky wank or two over it, maybe, but god, Bjorn felt unhinged.
He could feel his self control slipping, with every interaction, with every meeting of eyes.
He felt insane every time he saw his cousin's hands on you. An arm around your shoulders, a hand on your thigh, a finger tucking your hair behind your ear.
All instinctive, sweet touches between a couple. Nothing offensive.
And yet Bjorn wanted to set himself on fucking fire every time he saw it.
Jesus, maybe he needed to get laid.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
You let out a strangled moan as Tyler licks another hot, wet stripe from your core to your clit, your fingers tightening in his hair as you ground down on his face.
"That's a good girl," he groans, hands tightening on your hips, rocking you to and fro against his face. He gently sucks your clit into his mouth, before soothing it with his tongue, releasing it briefly. "Always ride my face so fuckin' well, darlin', always look so fuckin' good using me to get yourself off."
"Tyler-" you damn near sob, bucking your hips faster, and faster, as you feel that ever familiar tightening sensation that signals your orgasm is approaching. "Baby, fuck- I'm so fucking close-"
He groans again, removing his mouth and staring up at you, panting softly. His handsome face is soaked in your slick, his eyes dark as they hungrily rove over your figure. A boyish grin lights up his face as you whine. He stands to his full height, towering over you as he backs you over to your desk.
"The blinds aren't down-" you hiss, only to be silenced by a kiss that tastes of you.
"So?" he hums, nosing at your neck, kissing his way down to your collarbone, where he lightly nips a mark into your skin. He kisses further, over your clothed breast, swirling his tongue against the pebbling nipple. "All people are gonna see is me fuckin' my girl, just the way she wants it."
You moan softly, rubbing your thighs together at the thought. It's sinful, downright naughty, even. But it gets you... well, hot. Thinking about someone happening to glance in, to see Tyler balls deep inside of you, making you forget your own name.
Fuck, it makes you damn near gush a fucking flood.
Tyler smiles that boyish grin again at your moan. "Such a good girl for me," he coos, as he unzips his jeans, shoving them down his legs along with his boxers. He pumps his hand up and down his shaft once, then twice, gathering the precum slowly forming at the head and stroking it up and down his cock with a stifled sigh. "Fuck, jesus- you want it-"
"Raw," you whisper, leaning back on your desk, legs spread wide for him. "Wanna feel you, Tyler. Need you to cum inside me so fucking bad, baby, I've been aching for it-"
He groans again, stepping between your spread legs and rubbing the head of his cock through your wetness. Both of your breaths catch in your chests, your eyes locking as he finally pushes his cock inside of you.
Your twin moans echo in the small building. Thank god it's your lunch break.
He doesn't start off gentle, like he usually does. No, neither of you have the patience today. The pace is damn near brutal, his hips snapping fiercely against yours, your cunt aching in the most delicious way possible as he fucks you hard and fast.
It's a miracle your desk is still standing, by the time you're done.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
"You alright, cuz?" Tyler grins as he claps Bjorn on the shoulder, collapsing into a seat beside him at the bar.
Bjorn grunts, not quite looking at him as he fidgets with the tab on his can of beer.
Tyler arches a brow. "Fucks sake, must've been a shite day if it's got you all quiet."
Rather the oppsite, Bjorn wants to spit back, Got to hear your girlfriend moaning and begging to get filled with cum, got enough material to fuel a thousand masturbation fantasies and fucking more. Close the blinds next time you fucking exhibitionist.
He of course says none of that.
"Summit like that." Bjorn shrugs instead. "So where's-"
"Hey," you grin, sliding into the seat beside Tyler. Bjorn almost groans.
Of fucking course it was the skirt today. God, he hoped some fucking grunt would come along and fire a pulse rifle into his head.
"Sup?" he greets, barely looking at you.
You're well used to Bjorn's behaviour by now but...
Well, that won't do.
You're in love with Tyler, yeah. Absolutely devoted to him alone, but...
You like the attention that Bjorn desperately tries not to give you. You like the struggle of watching him try not to stare at your ass in a skirt, or your tits in your blouse. You like watching his jaw tick and his knuckles tighten on his glass whenever Tyler gets handsy.
It's thrilling.
It's maddening when his eyes aren't on you.
God forbid he even thinks about looking at another girl.
You shift in your seat, crossing one leg over the other, completely casual.
Your foot stretches out, casually gliding up and doen Bjorn's calf. He tenses, looking at you with confusion, his brow furrowed in thought. Perhaps he thought you'd aimed for Tyler and missed.
You meet his eyes, sliding your foot up his calf, over his knee, up his thigh...
He inhales sharply, taking a sip of beer as he listens to Tyler chat about his work day.
You toy with the zipper of Bjorn's pants. Of course, you can't unzip but...
The feeling of something getting firmer beneath your touch sends a thrill down your spine, makes your pussy pulse with want. Your eyes meet Bjorn's again, and oh fuck, if the sight of the blue of his eyes being taken over by his pupils doesn't make your cunt fucking damn near gush...
You remove your foot, watching Bjorn's fingers tighten on his can, his eyes burning into your face, trailing to your lips, down your neck, your breasts...
His eyes snap up to the mark on your neck, his nostrils flaring as he leans back in his chair, throwing back the rest of his can in one smooth gulp.
"Gonna head," he grunts, grabbing his coat from the back of the chair and holding it on his lap, glancing between the pair of you. "Enjoy yourselves or whateva, alright? Try not to fuck in front of everyone, yeah?"
And he's off, before you or Tyler can even say a word. Tyler watches after his cousin with concern, brow pinched and frown of worry firmly set into his handsome face.
"What's up with him?" He ponders, and you hum, taking your eyes off of Bjorn's backside in order to smile at him.
"No idea."

As requested, hereâs Rainâs repoll! Probably the only repoll I will do haha ^^ AO3 fans give me your thoughts! The poll will end in a week!
FROM THE EYES OF SOMEONE WHO HAS TO HELP SOMEONE OUT
âI thought I would find you here.â
It was a warm night. It was the type of night where one could sit outside for hours on end listening to the crickets chirp. The sky above was the perfect accompaniment this particular night, being so clear and free from clouds and any sort of light pollution that you could nearly see the entirety of the universe above. It was the perfect night for one to relax and enjoy life.Â
But that was not what was happening.
You stood on the very beginning of the crest of the hill, a little away from Liu Kang. Your eyes scanned the hunched over form of your friend. It was an odd look on him, a form so undisciplined from one of the most diligent men you knew. As odd as it was, it only made sense. After all, how could you expect a picture perfect form from a man who has lost his best friend?
The grass rustled as you walked forward, moving to stand right next to where Liu Kang sat. You kept your gaze forward, not turning your head to look at him. You didnât need to. Without even looking at his face, you could tell all the emotions that he must be experiencing. Frustration, grief, loneliness. It was the same emotions that had been clinging to your friend like tar for a while now.
So, instead, you stared adamantly at the tree. A rush of emotions surged through you as your gaze settled on it. So many memories were connected to this tree. Long days of just relaxing under this tree with Kung Lao came to mind. The three of you would sit under here, chatting and enjoying each otherâs companies as the cicadas would sing in the background.Â
Or sometimes, you would find Kung Lao here, having sneakily gotten out of lessons to simply sit and snack on a few treats he had stolen from the kitchen. You never sold him out. Even when your father gave you a pointed look, you would feign innocence and claim that you had no idea where the razor hatted man went.Â
It only made sense to bury him here, underneath the tree he loved so, so much. It was even his favorite type of tree, the cherry blossom.Â
A certain silence hung in the air. It was the silence that could only be made by those who have lost someone important to them. It was the combined silence of someone who had let grief consume him and of someone who refused to grieve yet. The two reactions to the death of your friend could not be any more different between the two of you, but the unspoken words between you two could not be any more the same.
You both missed him, dearly.
âHe died in vain.â Liu Kang spoke, breaking the vow of silence he had taken on. His voice was hoarse. You knew it must be from the lack of talking. But there was another part of you who knew the gravel-like quality to his voice must be from his grief and how it tore at him. You could not help but let out a sigh as you dropped your eyes to the humble gravestone in front of you.
âI know.â You replied, your voice laced with resignation. There was a tremble in your voice, your lip quivered for a moment before you set your jaw to prevent the little sign of weakness from persisting. You could not help the slump in your shoulders. It was a hard, harsh truth youâve come to accept. As much as youâd like to believe that Kung Laoâs death meant something, the invasions Outworld has been sending as of late has proven otherwise.Â
You turned your gaze to Liu Kang. It was not inaccurate to say he looked like a wreck. Reddened eyes which felt like they carried the weight of the world met yours. You could still see the freshly dried tear tracks on Liu Kangâs face. It seemed like, at least for now, the champion had finally run out of tears to shed for his long time friend.
âKung Lao would hate to see you like this.â You said, unable to keep the words from tumbling out of your mouth. You observed the way the man carried himself, and how he almost seemed like a different man entirely. The fury that he had held when he had slain Shao Kahn had burnt out, and only in his eyes could you see the remnants of the dying embers.
âI wish he were here to at least see it.â Liu Kang spat out, bitterness dripping from his voice. You did not flinch at it. You knew well enough the vitriol in his tone was not directed at you. Even if it was, the man was hurting. How could you blame him? His head raised to look at the cherry blossoms, idly watching as a few dropped and scattered around in the breeze.
âHey, look at me.â You said, tone gentle and soft. You watched as Liu Kang kept his gaze aloft, eyes searching the skies above for an answer to his prayers. You sighed as you raised a hand, putting it gently to his cheek. Even when his fire was put out, he felt warm. Your thumb rubbed softly upon his cheek, taking a moment to wipe away the tracks that the tears left. âI know youâre grieving, but youâre falling apart.â
Liu Kang leaned into your touch. You watched as his eyes attempted to brim with tears he no longer had. His hand rose to cover yours, clinging to it as if your hand was a lifeline. You felt your heart shatter at the sight, but still, you refused to let the man in front of you see your resolve break. You could care less if he saw you at your weakest, you trusted Liu Kang enough to let down your walls. But you knew now you did not have the luxury.
The world was falling apart. Invasions were arriving. You and others would need to forge a group to fight them off. Raiden would need a confidant who had a clear mind. Liu Kang needed an anchor to keep him from drifting off. All of these duties needed someone who could rise to the occasion, and you were willing to do so your allies would not have such a heavy burden.
It was the very least you could do to make up for failing Kung Lao. You could only hope that the others did not see how much your heart was aching too.
âIâm not asking you to stop grieving.â You said. You were slow to speak, choosing each word carefully so as to not upset your friend anymore than he was. âIâm not asking you to forget him either, but you need to start living again.â The way you delivered those words felt less like a moving speech to inspire him to move on, but more like a desperate plea.Â
âHow?â Liu Kangâs voice cracked and at the same time, your heart squeezed. His eyes searched you, as if the answer to his question would be written upon your skin. You felt his hand squeeze yours with desperation. You did not complain about the tight grip, keeping your gaze steady on his face. âHow am I supposed to live knowing he wonât be here anymore?â
In truth, you didnât know how. But you couldnât tell your friend that. You couldnât let him drift aimlessly anymore than he already was, you had to do something. So, instead, you gave him a soft smile as you rubbed his cheek softly once more. You prayed to the elder gods that he did not see the weakness in your eyes.
âWell first, you must take little baby steps.â You said, trying to think of the years worth of advice you had gotten from your father. âI think the first step you can begin to do is to start taking care of yourself again.â You gestured to his form. âStop skipping meals, stop spending hours out here on end, and start letting yourself accept the fact that he is gone.â You took a deep breath. âI know that sounds like a lot, but I canât watch you let yourself deteriorate anymore.âÂ
âBut Kung La-â
âWouldnât want you to stay by his grave like this.â You interrupted him, sending him a worried look. You closed your eyes and thought back to your friend. âIf anything, heâd be upset that youâre doing this. Heâd want you to live in his stead, to carry on his stories.â You paused, opening your eyes to watch Liu Kangâs face as you let him absorb your words.Â
There was a long period of silence that stretched between you. Afraid to break the fragile tension, you even held your breath. Conflict danced in his eyes, wavering between whether to trust you or the hurt that dragged him down. Silently, you pleaded for him to believe you. You already couldnât save one friend, you had to save another.Â
You couldnât fail again.
âAlright.â Liu Kang croaked. And finally, you let yourself breathe. His eyes fluttered closed as he seemed to lean his weight into your hand. In that moment, it felt like you took on his burdens. You forced your hand to be still, so he did not see your will waver. The slightest of slimes appeared on his lips, and you felt your heart soar. For even just a bit of his happiness, you would take on the world. âIâll try.â
âThank you.â You whispered, hoping he didnât hear the way your voice nearly cracked. His eyes opened, and you put on a smile for him. You watched as he sat there, watching you for a few more moments before he let go of your hand. When stood up, wobbling just a touch. You wrapped an arm around his waist to steady him. Gently, you squeezed his hip. âCome on, letâs go inside, Princess Kitana has been dying to thank you for freeing her and I have to go with Nightwolf to find a new base in America to help with the recent invasions.â
âThank you.â Liu Kang said, his voice full of warmth.
âItâs no issue.â You said, your words full of sincerity and fondness. âI would do anything for you.â You told him, a broad smile on your lips. Your heart felt lighter than it has in a while. Just barely, you caught the hint of pink upon his ears when he turned his head. âIâll have your back, always, Liu Kang.â
Waking up felt like a haze.Â
The warmth of Liu Kangâs flank against your side lingered. You laid upon the bed, which had been somewhat patched up due to you sewing up the sheets and the mattress. Your hand fiddled with the sheets, staring up at the soft glow on the ceiling as you ruminated upon what you had discovered and what to exactly do with this information.
How strange it was despite your long years of knowing Liu Kang, you still had memories left to discover with him connected to them. And those words you said, why did they feel so familiar? Not familiar in the sense that you had said them, but you swore you heard them elsewhere. You thought long and hard about it, trying to find a rhyme or reason why you had these feelings. There were several minutes that passed. You sighed as you rubbed your head. The most logical conclusion you could come up with was that it was because youâve been in Outworld.
What else could it be? All these memories did resurface ever since youâve gotten here. Â
You paused, a sudden thought breaking through the rest like a sprinter did when they ran towards the finish. You breath caught as you stared at the ceiling. Was there any point in returning to Earthrealm if all your memories were here? You laid there for a long while after, unable to ignore the logic your brain was conjuring up.
You groaned as rubbed at your face. There was no point incessantly worrying over this issue, it was not like you could do anything to change the duration of your stay here. At least, thatâs what youâre trying to convince yourself. The little whisper in your head would try and continue to try and think over it. You swung your legs over the edge of the bed. Your fingers glided over the hasty sewed up areas of the bed, noting the bumpiness. Youâd just hope no one would notice.Â
Then, after a few more moments of sitting, you sighed. You sighed so hard, like you were trying to relinquish your worries that way. You closed your eyes, trying to rid your worries once more. Then after that futile attempt, you got up and stretched. Might as well start your day.
After going through the morning routine youâve become somewhat accustomed to, you stepped out into the hall. Perhaps it was the room, or maybe it was the last of the warm memories finally leaving, but it feltâŚcolder outside. Not enough to have you shivering, but it sent a slight chill through you. A few goosebumps appeared on your arms.
You stood there for a moment. At first, you didnât realize why, but then as you heard the tapping of feet coming from the far down hallway you realized you were waiting. You turned your head to see the usual culprit, Princess Kitana. You gave her a cheery wave to which she gave a respectable nod. You met her halfway down the hallway. If someone were to observe, they may notice, just for a fleeting moment, that her steps went faster before meeting you.
âGlad to see weâre both back on schedule.â You commented, a light playful tone to your voice. You watched as Kitanaâs eyes squinted slightly, the edges of her lips curved upwards in the slightest smile. She hummed, a hint of amusement in her voice. As soon as you joined her side she seemed to be content and nodded, as if she were acknowledging that contentment. Still, as you stood next to her, you felt that familiar nagging feeling once more.
Why did you always feel it around her?
âI heard you got the privilege to tour the Imperial Academy.â Kitana spoke, breaking the silence. Her voice did not hide her intrigue at the idea of you at the academy. Her eyes seemed to rake over you, scrutinizing every little detail of you she could see. You resisted the urge to shiver, to not show the slight moment of weakness upon her observant gaze. âHow did you find it?â She inquired a moment later, her voice seeming to imply she already knew your answer. Your eyebrows raised just very at the thought.Â
âIt was lovely.â You admitted, finding yourself unable to conceal the underlying admiration you felt towards the location. You tilted your head upwards to look at the vast expanse of white marble overhead, thinking of all the wonders you had seen. You were even beginning to see the swirls of magic within the material above. You didnât think you were obsessed, but it would be hard to deny that idea with how you were seeing things that werenât even there. You didnât notice how her smile grew, becoming less restrained. âI wish magic was more used in Earthrealm, itâd be nice to see a school much like the academy there.â
âYou seem very interested in magic.â The princess said, reading your reaction. It wasnât an incredibly difficult feat though, it was obvious to anyone who could see. You could not help but nod in response, only feeling a touch embarrassed at being so obvious. A small chuckle left your lips. Her eyes seemed to soften, if just a touch. âIf I recall correctly, you have magic as well. Animal shapeshifting, correct? I overheard it at the banquet.â
âYes, animal shapeshifting.â You confirmed. You held out your hand, letting it shift into a lionâs paw outstretched with its claws out. You saw the hint of amazement in Kitanaâs eyes. Her eyes traced the length of your transformed limb, then stared intently at the flesh where it transitioned. âIâd like to think Iâm rather proficient in it.â
âI see.â The blue clad princess said, her tone indicating a hint of interest at your display of magic. âHad you been an Outworlder, I would say you would have a chance at excelling greatly at the Academy.â She admitted. For a moment, your heart skipped a beat at the high praise. Then, you felt a little silly at being so pleased at the compliment. After all, itâs not like it meant you could get in even with your magical skills.
âA shame that Iâm not.â You say, a small wistful tone in your voice. It still feltâŚodd to not label yourself as an Outworlder. In Earthrealm, you did not feel right calling yourself one of them. But here, you did not feel right calling yourself an Outworlder either. Was there really a label youâd feel comfortable with?
âPerhaps, in another life, you could have.â Kitana said, offering you an apologetic smile. You nearly stumbled in your steps upon hearing those words, and the nagging feeling disappeared as the pieces fell into place. Your eyes widened and you stared at the princess, who seemed none the wiser as she gazed into the Great Hall, which you both had ended up at finally.
Thatâs why you had that feeling and why it was always around her.
Those were the exact words she said as she had laid dying in your lap, in that vision you had about the amulet. Your fingers twitched as you took in a deep breath, holding back a wave of nostalgia as you gazed at her for a few moments more. It was an odd feeling, seeing the princess alive and healthy with little idea of who you were compared to the last time when she had said those words and she had been one of your closest allies and dying in your lap.
âEnjoy the match.â Kitana bid you goodbye, offering a small smile before walking off. You nodded, barely able to return her goodbye before she was out of earshot. Your gaze lingered on her a moment more. Your stomach twisted, and you were uncertain how to make use of the information you had gleaned.
Why did it seem like everyone you had cared about in the last life died?Â
Was that fated to happen once more?
Before you could get too lost in your spiraling thoughts, you felt a hand on your shoulder. Your thoughts paused, as if the hand on your shoulder pulled you away from all the noise. You turned your head slowly to see Kenshi looking at you, eyebrows raised. You sent him a bit of a forced smile, trying to not worry him any more than he seemed to be.
âYou were spacing out.â Kenshi said simply. His eyes focused on you, searching your face for any indication for your unusual behavior. You felt your smile grow the slightest bit strained, like a string being pulled just a bit too tight. His eyebrows knit together, and you felt a sense of embarrassment at how he could read your expression.
Or maybe you were just easy to read in general. Either way, you didnât feel too great about that.
âEarly mornings, you know how it is.â You said, using possibly the lamest excuse you could have. You nearly wanted to smack your forehead as you realized how uncharacteristic that sounded as well. If anyone were to say that excuse, you were the last one who should have. Your jaw set a tiny bit more, trying to make your smile more prominent.
âI see.â Kenshi said, after a few more moments. There was an odd tension between the two of you. It was the type of tension that could only be made between someone who had lied very, very horribly, and by someone who could see right through the lie as if it were the most polished glass in the world. His hand squeezed your shoulder.Â
Your gaze dropped to the hand on your shoulder. You stared at the tattoo on his hands, having nearly forgotten the designs on his hands. He didnât put them on display very often. Your lips pursed, and you thought long and hard about whether he had similar tattoos, if any, in the old timeline. You donât think he did.
âSee something interesting?â Kenshiâs words cut through your thoughts. You glanced up, seeing his concerned expression having changed into one of interest. The ex-yakuza memberâs eyebrows were raised, and his head tilted ever so slightly to the side. His eyes, which you now noted to be just the perfect shade for him, were trained on you. There was a certain tone to his voice that you couldnât pin down, was it playfulness?
âI was just looking at your tattoos. Theyâre really pretty.â You admitted, before wanting to smack yourself. It was not because of the admittance, it was because you had forgotten the connection the tattoos had to his past. âNot that I think theyâre too pretty, because of your connection with your past.â You quickly added on, resisting the urge to cringe at the addition. You sighed and closed your eyes, shaking your head. âI think theyâre nice, regardless of your past, is what I meant.âÂ
âMaybe the early morning is getting to you.â Kenshi said, his voice having just the tiniest hint of a teasing lilt to it. Once more, he squeezed your shoulder. His eyes seemed to shine a bit, and a smile grew. Out of all your champions, he smiled the least. But whenever he did, you always seemed to notice how bright it felt to you. âBut thank you for the compliment, now letâs join the group. Even Cage is there now.â
And so, the two of you walked over to the group. A round of greetings were passed between the group. You did your best to maintain your steady composure. It was getting harder and harder with all the memories coming back rapidly, especially with how dreadful theyâve been lately. Liu Kang and Kung Laoâs greetings were the hardest to return as you were trying your best not to space out and linger on the differences between their past selves and now.
Still, you did it, and no one seemed the wiser. Kung Lao had even given you some food. You were nearly honored by the gesture, knowing he saved you some food instead of taking it all for himself. You let out a small huff at the little wink he sent your way when he handed you an extra portion.Â
âWhat was up with your little moment with Tattoo?â Johnny asked, leaning over with an all too nosy tone in his voice. Youâve seen the older women in Fengjian be less nosy than he was. And man were they always vying for some gossip whenever you visited Madam Bo. You sent him a perplexed look, which seemed to spur him on. âYou know, like, when he had his hand on your shoulder.â He said. His hands were very emotive, portraying the story all on their own.
âNothing.â You said, dismissively. You shrugged, and you watched as Johnny seemed to deflate at your answer. He was either not pleased at the lackluster answer, or how little you elaborated. Probably even a mixture of both. âIt was seriously nothing, he just noticed I was spacing out.â You continued, hoping to satiate the little bit of curiosity he had.
âMhm, sure.â He replied, a hint of skepticism in his tone. âWeâll discuss this later.â The actor insisted. You opened your mouth to respond that there was nothing else to discuss, but then the Empress and princesses strode in, causing you to fall silent. Instead, you sent him a hint of a glare. Of course, the actor didnât care, just sending you a sunny grin in return.
What unlucky timing.
âOnce again, we gather to witness another day of the tournament.â Sindel announced, scanning the crowd. When her eyes landed on Raiden, who seemed to be growing in confidence with every win, her lips pursed. You held back a chuckle at the slight annoyance that glimmered in her eyes. You saw her take in a deep breath before continuing. âAfter three fights, your resolve has not yet broken.â She observed, raising an eyebrow. âToday, we shall see if that will change.â
There was a pause before she continued.
âToday, you shall fight one of my most trusted allies.â The Empress announced. You were surprised for a brief moment. The last two fights were chosen by the general, did she finally get fed up with his choices? You held back yet another laugh at the prospect. âSheeva of the Shokan shall be your opponent today.âÂ
From the end of the hallway emerged a broad, tall figure. Nearly rivaling Kotal in size, a woman dressed in battle-ready armor appeared. You felt a slight buzz upon seeing her, but nothing overly major. Her armor, though indicative of a warrior, appeared different from the ones that both Reiko, Kotal, and General Shao had all donned. It was a hint more decorative, and it reminded you very slightly of the umgadi gear. A purple sash that matched Sindelâs colors was pinned across her body.
âSheeva is one of the best warriors from the Shokan. Fierce and loyal, she is one of the best guards and warriors I have come to know.â Sindel said, a certain type of fondness in her voice. It felt like a stark contrast to the way she had regarded Li Mei. Sheeva seemed to take the praise in stride, holding her head up high. All four of her arms flexed, showing the muscles that she had gained through the years. âMay she grace us with a fight to display just how well she can fight.â
âI have heard many things about your prowess, young one.â Sheeva spoke, gazing down at Raiden. Her face, though it looked unimpressed, did seem to hold just a bit of respect within it. Her upper arms crossed over her chest, while the lower set of arms were firmly placed upon her hips. Her gaze was so strong it was nearly unnerving. âWe shall see if they are true.â
âI will try my best to prove it true.â Raiden replied, nodding. Despite the difference in both bulk and height, Raiden seemed to not be cowed in the slightest. You smiled at the sight, feeling proud of the strength he displayed. He has certainly come a long way since the beginning of your training. From a meek sapling to a strong, sturdy tree.
Sheevaâs way of fighting reminded you a bit of Reikoâs. They both utilized the same grappling style, trying to latch onto Raiden like a leech to hit him. The Shokan was amazingly proficient at using all of her arms within combat. Her fighting style, though like the second in command, did not match the calculated way she fought. That part of her felt more like Kotal.
Her brutality was not out of bloodlust, but from the cold precision of knowing her true strength and how to use it against her opponent. Even when she stomped harshly on Raidenâs back, there was no maniac energy from her. It was a detail that you did not miss.
Had Raiden not fought against other grapplers and those who already outsized him in a match, he would have fared far worse. But, unfortunately for the Shokan, it seemed that the previous two matches only served to prepare him for this fight. Sure, he did take a heavy hit here and there, but for the most part it went far smoother than the last few matches did.Â
It did not take long for him to stand over Sheeva, a tired but elated look on his face.
âI hope that proved my determination to you.â He said, his voice a bit breath as he adjusted his rumpled clothes. A groan left the beaten Shokanâs face. But as she stumbled to her feet, she seemed to nod in response. Her head dipped low, a look of shame coating her face. She seemed to hold herself a little less tall now. The two exchanged bows, before the woman walked out, her footsteps heavy with defeat.
âCongratulations upon yet another win.â Sindel said, her lips curling upwards. Her smile, once again, did not reach her eyes. In fact, her eyes did not even seem to follow the victor. Instead, they trailed after Sheeva, a slight look of disappointment within them. She cleared her throat, and the momentary weakness disappeared. âWe shall adjourn at first light once again.â
âHah, was that even a challenge for you?â Kung Lao spoke, walking merrily to his friend. A playful shove was sent Raidenâs way. A small âowâ left his lips as he rubbed his arm, which certainly must be sore from how Sheeva had been tugging him around. âI think youâve got this in the bag!â He encouraged, though this time it lacked the little shove.
âIndeed, your training reflects well in your matches.â Liu Kang added in. He sent a little bit of a look towards Kung Lao. âRemember not to grow complacent, the next few matches may prove to be more challenging than the previous ones.â He warned. His hands were clasped neatly in front of him. The fire godâs gaze then turned to you, expectantly.
âLord Liu Kang is right. As long as you remember what we taught you when you fight, youâll do fine.â You said, giving him a small smile. You crossed your arms as you shifted your weight. âBut I do agree, youâll need to be vigilant. Iâd say it was a lucky streak that your last opponents had similar fighting styles, but the next few may fight very differently from them.â You placed a hand on his arm, trying to be comforting. âBut I, and so do the rest of us, believe in you.â
âI-â Raiden began, seeming a bit caught off guard by either your words or the touch on his arm. He cleared his throat, a faint flush on his cheeks. Johnny took your attention away by slinging an arm around your shoulders. Turning to give him a confused look and to shrug off his touch, you missed the brief look that Raiden sent your way before you turned back. âI understand, Iâll do my best.âÂ
âGood.â You commended, sending him a bigger smile this time. Then, after a moment, your hand dropped from his arm. Liu Kang picked up from your little moment, telling the group a few things before he dismissed them. You watched as Liu Kang, Kenshi, and Raiden all walked off. But Kung Lao lingered, a look of contemplation on his face. You tilted your head as you walked forward to stand next to the man. âSomething on your mind?â
âJust thinking.â Kung Lao answered, a thoughtful tone to his voice. You raised your eyebrows, nodding to see if he would go on. After a few moments, he did. âI know Raiden deserved to be the champion butâŚâ He said, trailing off as he looked to the side. You nodded, placing a hand on his bicep and squeezed it gently, making him return his gaze to you.
âI admire your willingness to fight.â You said, cautiously picking your words. The memory of the old Kung Lao dying because he had been far too eager to fight lingered in your mind. Was it a warning of things to come? Or was it merely just a stain in your mind that would never go away? âBut know that we all see your value even without you launching yourself head first into battle.â You pinched his arm. âDonât go around and be reckless to try and prove yourself, okay?â
âIf I were to fight though, Iâd win.â Kung Lao retorted playfully, but that attitude melted away to reveal a more genuine smile. âI know, though.â He said, nodding. âI promise I wonât go around picking fightsâŚunless they deserve it.â He said, grinning at you. When you sent him an unamused look, he rolled his eyes before laughing. âIâm kidding! I wonât.â He claimed, raising his hands up in surrender.
âGood. Iâm going to do some shopping now, okay?â You said, nodding with a satisfied smile. You dropped your hand, missing the way the farmhandâs eyes trailed after it. As you were about to walk off to go tour Sun Do for gifts, you felt a hand upon your arm. Your eyes trailed up from the hand to the culprit. It was none other than Johnny. âDid you need something?â
âYeah.â The actor said, his smile that was so bright it nearly rivaled the sun. His hand dropped so he could spread his arms out wide. âSaw the other day that Rai-dude got to have a day with you, itâs my turn now.â He announced, seeming almost a bit too proud of himself. âThat, and I did say we had stuff to discuss later.â
âWeâre taking turns hanging out?â Kung Lao spoke up, having not left yet. His eyebrows furrowed as he looked back and forth between you and Johnny Cage. A look of utter confusion was obvious on his face. You were nearly certain that a similar look was upon your face. You were no less confused than he was. âWhen am I getting my day?âÂ
âWeâre not taking turns, donât worry about it.â You reassured the former farmhand. You looked back at Johnny with an exasperated look. âDonât say things like that, people will get the wrong idea, Cage.â You scolded him pointing a finger his way. âWhy do you even need me to accompany you today?â You inquired. You noticed the slightly irritated tone in your voice and sent him an apologetic look. âNot that I mind.â
âI need someone to help take some pictures of me around Sun Do so I can post it on my socials.â The American informed you causally. Either he didnât notice the tone in your voice, or didnât care. You were assuming that with him, it was the latter. A broad grin crossed his features as a more confused look appeared over your face.Â
âBut I wouldnât anyone else be bet-â You began. You were shortly cut off by Johnny grabbing your hand. With a surprised shout, you were dragged off by Johnny outside of the palace before you could protest more. Too stunned, you let him lead you away, mind still mulling over the strange excuse he had given you.
Left in the dust was Kung Lao who looked at where you two had disappeared to. There was a moment where there was nothing but sheer confusion spread across his face. Then, Kenshi passed by, having returned to the Great hall. He looked at the farm hand with a perplexed look as well. He glanced back and forth between where Kung Lao was looking and the man himself.
âAre you okay?â The swordsman asked, having not been there to witness the little scene.Â
âYeah.â Kung Lao said, snapping out of his stupor. He shook his head, trying to dispel the strange hurt feeling he felt before shrugging. âIâm just really, really confused.â
âYou didnât have to drag me out here, Cage.â
âNah, I totally did have to.â Johnny said simply. The blunt response stunned you for a moment. Normally, you would have a witty remark or be able to bounce back. But with how strange Johnny has been lately, youâve found yourself more and more uncertain of what to say in response. You didnât quite like how speechless youâve become.Â
âNo, you really didnât have to.â You insisted. Your words fell upon deaf ears as Johnny continued to drag you towards the capital. It wasnât until you both made it to the city that he finally released your hand. You sighed as you sent him a look before shaking your head. âWell, weâre here.â You stated the obvious, looking around at the crowd. âWhere did you need the picture?â
âOh, we donât need to do that now.â The actor told you with a grin. You stared at him with a look of disbelief. âIn fact we have to wait. I wanted to do these pictures at sunset so we can get those sweet, sweet colors.â You looked upwards into the sky, noting just how early it was. Sunset was hours away. You sighed, you guess you were stuck with the man for a bit. He didnât seem dismayed at all by your reaction, instead slinging an arm around you and leaning in close. âSo, where to first?â
âI didnât really have a plan.â You said, crossing your arms. âI was really going to go window shopping.â You inform him, trying to think of ideas for the two brothers you hadnât gotten gifts for yet. So far, you were drawing a blank. Glancing over to Johnny, who seemed to be very pleased with placing almost all his weight upon you, you pursed your lips. âI suppose you donât have any ideas for what to get Bi-Han and Kuai Liang?â
âThe ninjas?â Johnny inquired, eyebrows raising. Before you could correct him that they werenât quite ninjas he continued, âI dunno, some breath mints for frost face?â He suggested, shrugging. You sent him an exasperated look, but you supposed asking Johnny out of any of them was the wrong decision. He probably didnât hold either of them in such high regard after what they did to hisâŚHichuli. He laughed at your reaction, nudging you. âOkay, fine, how about we go window shopping like you said, weâre bound to think of some ideas.â
âSounds like a plan.â You said, nodding. You stood there, waiting for him to move. When he remained leaning against you, you raised your eyebrows. âAre you expecting me to be able to drag you around everywhere?â You inquired, a tinge of amusement in your voice apparent. A smile spread across your lips. Maybe it was because he was an actor, but he never failed to be entertaining to you.
âWhereâs your sense of fun?â He groaned, a hint of a pout on his lips. Still, he relented and got off of you. With an overexaggerated bow that reminded you of certain characters in a movie, he gestured towards the city. âLead the way?â He inquired, his eyebrows waggling playfully. You rolled your eyes at the grand performance and chuckled before beginning to walk over to the stores.
Even after touring part of Sun Do with Raiden, there were still plenty of shops you had not explored yet. Both you and Johnny peeked into stores, marveling over their wares with different degrees of wonder. There were a few times where youâd hear mutter how he wished that he had an easy way to convert his American dollars to the Outworlder coin.Â
It took a while until you found a good gift. Or rather, until Johnny found a good gift.
âHow about this?â The actor asked. The two of you had ended up in some sort of jewelry store. While you hadnât been too keen on the wares here fitting the idea of a gift for either of the brothers, you both decided to tour it anyways. Upon seeing the suggestion Johnny lifted towards you, you were infinitely glad that you did.
You grabbed the ribbon he had held up, eyes wide with amazement. It was made of gold and black fabric, perfectly long enough to do someoneâs hair. In fact, it seemed meant to be tied into oneâs hair to keep it up. The thread work was immaculate. It was woven intricately, creating a pattern that vaguely reminded you of a scorpion.Â
It was practically perfect.
âWhere did you find this?â You asked. You rubbed your thumb over the design before flipping it over and admiring how soft the fabric was. You looked from the ribbon over to Johnny to see what may be the smuggest look youâve seen on his face. âI mean, this is pretty much what Iâve been looking for.â
âJust over here.â Johnny told you, pointing his thumb in the direction of a display of other ribbons. You wandered over, humming as you perused the rest of the collection. Unfortunately, there was nothing that stuck out to you as something youâd want to give to Bi-Han. Still, as you looked back down at the ribbon in your hands, you were grateful to find something. âYou seem really pleased by my findings.â He observed. You could hear the grin through his words. âDo I get to have a reward or something?â
âOr something.â You sassed back, shaking your head. Still, you looked over to the man with a smile. âThanks for helping me, Johnny.â You thanked him sincerely. The smile he sent made your heart skip a beat, though you werenât quite sure why. Deciding not lingering on the why part, you turned and went to the counter to pay for the item.
Surprisingly, it was cheaper than you expected. A fact that you were grateful for so you did not completely lose your money on this one gift. The centaurian man who helped you even offered to package it in a pretty gift box for free.Â
âYouâre not trying to find a pretty little trinket for yourself, wildstyle?â Johnny inquired as you rejoined him near the entrance. He sent you an inquisitive look as he crossed his arms. You shook your head as you tucked the box away into your bag for safe keeping. You would be devastated to find that you had lost the perfect gift for Kuai Liang. âYouâre a strange one.â
âReally now?â You quipped back, raising your eyebrows as you turned back to look at him. You peered over to the sky, noting how low the sun had gotten. Browsing around had taken far more time than you had expected. It was nearly time for taking pictures soon, assuming that the man still wanted them. âDid you want to go find a spot to take your pictures now? Or did you still want to help me look for Bi-Hanâs gift?â
âStill donât get why youâre buying gifts for the man who broke my Hichuli, but I guess weâve got some more daylight to burn.â Johnny replied, shrugging.
And so, the two of you continued to browse. Unfortunately, even between the two of you, you still failed to find something appropriate for the icy grandmaster. Luckily for you, you still saw that there were plenty of stalls to go through. Tomorrow, perhaps youâd have better luck.
Thatâs how you got to the pier, squinting down at Johnnyâs phone. Youâve rarely touched his phone. The only times youâve bothered to interact with it was to play Candy Crush whenever the actor wanted to bribe you to give them a break, or to show Kung Lao the video.Â
Still, holding it in your hands, something about the device felt oddlyâŚfamiliar.
âYou know how to take a picture, right?â Johnny said, leaning over to point at the screen. You looked over to him, giving him a sigh.
âThatâs what I was going to tell you, Cage.â You told him, sending him an exasperated look. You had nearly forgotten about his little excuse to drag you out here. How silly it seemed now. You thought about telling him if he had just asked to accompany you on your little shopping trip that you would have let him, but you figured you were past that point now. âI have no idea how to really take a picture, so your luck with me taking actual quality ones for your social media is pretty low.â
âYouâll probably have a knack for it.â The actor encouraged you. He positioned so he could wrap his arms around you, placing his hands upon yours. While Johnny was usually touchy, this feltâŚdifferent. You suppressed a shiver as you noted how gentle he was being. âHere, lift it up to this angle.â He instructed, his voice quieter than usual. And yet, when it was right next to your ear you hardly noticed how he was pretty much whispering. Was your face getting hot?
âGood.â Johnny praised, and like usual, you could hear the smile in his voice. The smile your heard though, was a different type of smile. It wasnât arrogant or smug. It felt like he was proud of you. âYouâll want to tap the screen if itâs out of focus.â He said, and tapped on the screen to demonstrate. You nodded, pursing your lips as you tried your best to focus on the task at hand. Did he really have to be this close though?
âAnything else I should know?â You asked, hoping the way you spoke didnât reflect the way you were feeling oddly nervous right now. You had no idea why your nerves were acting up, it isnât as if you were being tested on anything. You did not turn your head, feeling like you would grow more nervous if you turned your head to look at the man.
âNope, you should be good. Iâll be telling you whenever to take a shot. Oh, taking a picture is this button by the way.â He said, pressing the circle at the bottom of the screen. You nodded diligently, back oddly straight as you tried to focus on anything but him. You had to hide your sigh of relief as he unwrapped his arms, backing up. âAlright, let me get into position.âÂ
You watched as Johnny jogged over to the spot he had apparently determined in his head. You kept your arms up, not wanting to lose the perfect angle that the man had decided for you. Still, the memory of his touch on your hands lingered in your mind. Johnny prepped himself, moving between a few poses before he settled on one and called out for you to take a picture. You grinned at the rather amusing pose he struck. Was he trying to pretend to hold the sun?
Nodding, you moved your thumb to press the button. Accidentally though, you made the screen flip, making it turn to your smiling face. Following that accident, you pressed the button. With a sigh, you furrowed your eyebrows as you tried to figure out how to turn it back around. After a few moments, you offered him an apologetic smile as he walked back to you.
âDid you get the shot?â He asked, raising his eyebrows. You shook your head and handed the phone over, sighing.
âI told you I didnât know how to take pictures.â You sighed, pointing at the screen and how it was still using the forward facing camera. âI accidentally flipped the screen and made it take a picture of me.â You explained, your tone indicating your embarrassment at not knowing how to navigate the device well. You watched as he lifted the phone up, so he could see it better. The only issue now was that you couldnât see it. âSo I didnât get the picture, sorry.â
âMain man Lord Liu Kang should really get you a phone so you can start learning. Donât sweat it though, Teach.â Johnny observed, humming as he tapped the screen a few times. His eyes lit up after a few moments. A small smile curled onto his lips. Then, almost as if remembering you were there, he cleared his throat as he looked back to you.Â
It was rare to see him taken off his guard.
âHere.â He said after a few moments. When the phone was handed back to you, it was correctly oriented this time. âTry not to switch it again, or do, I donât mind having a few photos of you in my phone.â Johnny teased you, sending you a wink. Before you could retort, he jogged back to the spot. You shook your head, unable to resist a smile.
This time, you took what you thought was a pretty good picture.
By the time you and Johnny returned to the palace, it was dark. You had spent the fading bits of daylight on taking every picture you could. You thought it was excessive, but the actor had told you something along the lines of âwe donât finish until itâs perfect in the industryâ. You had tried to tell him that there was no industry here, but he promptly ignored you.
You had half a mind to groan at his stubbornness.
âBusy day?â Raiden inquired, seeing the both of you walk into the hallway. It seems the reserved seats had changed for the both of you. You had a choice of either between Kenshi and Liu Kang or between Raiden and Kung Lao. You slipped into the one next to the champion, humming as you reached over to get your share of food.Â
âYou could call it that.â You replied. You muttered an apology as you bumped into Raiden as you leaned over. He took your apology in stride, smiling generously at you. âI managed to get another gift under my belt. No luck in finding one for Bi-Han though.â You said, sighing. âThen again, I predicted getting a gift for him would be the most difficult.â
âMaybe tomorrow I can help.â Kenshi spoke up. You glanced up at him, a bit of surprise on your face. You nearly missed the look of what you could only call betrayal on Kung Laoâs face. Why that was the case, you had no idea. You felt a little bad, it looked a little funny. You brought a hand to hide the bits of a smile that threatened to slip through. You hummed, tilting your head after you recovered from your near smile. You thought about the offer for a moment before nodding.
âI wouldnât mind that.â You said. As you peered down at the food on the table, you missed the pointed looks the swordsman got. When you looked up, they were gone. âIâve found that I find the gifts whenever Iâm with one of you anyways, might as well not break the streak.â You said contemplatively. âHow was the rest of the day for you guys?â
The rest of dinner went smoothly from there. There was chatter here and there, catching up on each otherâs day. It wasnât until dinner was over that you encountered something unexpected. You stood up from your seat, excusing yourself. You had plans to get a bit of alone time before your usual meeting with the princess. Yet, when you turned around you were met with the sight of Rain.
âOh, hello.â You greeted, blinking owlishly. You offered a small wave, to which the mage returned. âDid you need something from me?â You asked, looking around to see if there was something obvious around to indicate what he wanted.Â
âAh, nothing much. I just wanted to talk.â He said, offering you a smile. You returned the smile, a hint of surprise and joy in your eyes. You knew Rain had offered you friendship the other day, but you didnât actually expect him to want to spend more time together than he did yesterday. âDo you have the time for a little chat?â He inquired, his hands sweeping out to gesture to a hallway.
âOh, definitely.â You said, nodding perhaps a bit too eagerly. You werenât sure why, but Rain and you seemed to click quickly. You chalked it up to the shared interest in magic, and how he seemed to admire your drive to get better. âIâll see you guys around.â You said, waving to the group before you walked off with your new friend.
âLord Liu Kang, your stare isâŚintense.â Raiden pointed out quietly after you and your new friend disappeared down the hallway. The Fire God diverted his gaze away from where you had gone to the champion. He cleared his throat, putting on a cordial smile.
âDo not worry about it.â Liu Kang reassured the man. He cast his gaze upon the rest of the group, nodding at them. âEnjoy the rest of your evening. I shall see you all tomorrow for Raidenâs next fight.â He then stood and disappeared too, retiring to his chambers.
Even gods like him were not immune to human emotions.
You had talked longer with Rain than expected.Â
It wasnât until you saw the man yawn that you realized just how late it had gotten. You felt a twinge of guilt course through you as you quickly realized you had to dismiss yourself. Searching around, you excused yourself, giving him an apologetic smile.
âI really should be going, I struggle with waking up without proper sleep.â You lied. You did feel bad lying to your new friend, but you werenât certain just how public the information of your meetings with Mileena were. You figured it was best to play it safe and pretend they did not occur. With an understanding nod, the mage smiled.
âI understand.â He said. There was a pause, his lips parting before he shook his head. Your eyebrows raised at the action, but didnât question it. You didnât want to be too forward and scare him off. âI hope to talk to you soon. Itâs refreshing to talk to someone like you.âÂ
âI feel the same.â You told him, nodding. You watched him walk off, taking slow steps away. Then, as soon as you deemed yourself safe enough not to be caught in a lie, you slunk off in the darkness to the hanging gardens. You nearly transformed to make the job easier, but you figured that was more suspicious, so you stuck to the teachings Madam Bo had taught you.
Reaching the gardens, you let out a sigh. Here you felt safe enough to not sneak around. You looked around, spying for any sign of the princess. You caught a hint of pink, and walked right over. Just as expected, she was waiting on the bench for you.
âApologies for my late arrival.â You said, not even certain if you were even late. It is not as if you had a clock to judge the time. Even if you did, you werenât even sure if Outworld ran on the same time system as Earthrealm did. You rushed over to take your spot near her after she indicated towards it with her hand. âI got caught up in conversation.â
âLucky for you, I just got here.â Mileena remarked. The jesting tone in her voice had you relax, letting out another sigh of relief. Hints of thinly veiled amusement sparkled in her eyes accompanying the little smirk on her lips. âI assume you were giving your champion a rousing speech for tomorrowâs match?â She inquired, an expectant tone in her voice.
âAh, no actually.â You said. You felt a little silly, realizing that her assumption was something you actually should be doing. You knew Raiden did well off of praise. Not only that, but it didnât hurt to be a little more encouraging towards the champion. Maybe you should do that tomorrow night, especially since you knew that if he won this one, he would have to fight the princess beside you. âI was talking to the High Mage, Rain.â
âI did not know you two were soâŚfamiliar.â The princess said, raising an eyebrow. You heard the curiosity in her tone. You chuckled at her phrasing, shaking your head as you waved your hands dismissively.
âNot at all.â You said, holding back a disbelieving chuckle. âHe and I simply got along well during the banquet and became friends of sorts..â You explained. You turned your gaze away from the princess to the sky. âItâs refreshing to hear someone talk about magic with such fasciation and depth.âÂ
âI did not realize you were so intrigued by magic.â Mileena remarked. This time, a hint of surprise appeared in her voice. âDo you possess magic yourself, or are you simply fascinated by the subject?â She inquired. Her gaze scanned your form, trying to see any indication of magic upon your person. Her calculating gaze felt just like her younger sisterâs.
âI have magic.â You said. âMagic doesnât really exist in Earthrealm in the same ways it does here.â You explained. âVery little people know magic themselves, and the ones I know who have such magic donât have the same passion as the people Iâve met here.â You shrugged causally.
âPerhaps it has something to do with the goddess Delia.â Mileena proposed. âAs far as I am concerned, the only god Earthrealm has is Lord Liu Kang, correct?â She inquired. You nodded. You doubted Liu Kang would have hidden another god of Earthrealm from you. âDelia is the goddess of magic, it is natural that Outworld would simply have more magic than Earthrealm.â
âI suppose.â You said, not knowing what to quite respond to that. She was probably correct. You pursed your lips as you pondered on the subject of magic for a few moments more before realizing that Mileena had been staring at you. âOh, right the story, my bad.â You said, straightening up. You cleared your throat before glancing at the princess. âAny particular stories youâd like to hear about tonight?â
âHow about you tell me about Earthrealmâs version of magic?â The princess proposed, connecting the prior conversation to the story she wished to hear. You smiled at the sentiment, thinking of what to tell her before nodding and proceeding.
That night, you told her of magic. And that night, you tried your best to ignore the longing ache in your heart.

;R1999 HORROPEDIA - "night terrors"
Horropedia x Reader. 2.3 words. fluff, comfort Everyone knows better than to intrude on Horropedia's all-nighters and horror film marathons - even so, he doesn't mind interruptions, not if it's you. Maybe these movies can wait.
writing for Horropedia is the real nightmare bc all I wanna do is expand on little headcanons I have about him, so I end up losing the entire plot and reason I started the oneshot in the first place
EITHER WAY its done <3 another one for the sleepytime saga
The clock reads 3:00 AM - the witching hour begins now.
The weather outside seems to agree with him. Darkness falls over the wilderness that surrounds the house, with thick, grey clouds above and just the right amount of rain and wind. Enough to set a proper atmosphere for a horror movie marathon, but not as to distract him with the constant banging of windows and doors being closed shut.
Horropedia feels around the table for his snacks, eyes glued to the screen in front of him, the only source of light in his room. He's chosen one of his favorite films to begin with and ease himself into a long list of terrible B-movie slashers.
It's hard to eat popcorn when all he can focus on is reciting the dialogue from memory, in perfect harmony with the characters. Some kernels fall to the ground, entirely forgotten. The title drops with a bright, bloody font and the music swells up. He feels right at home.
But then, he hears it.
Faint steps. A gentle knock on his door.
Is this it? Is this the moment he waited for all these years? To live through some unusual and inexplicable event? Oh, but it's not even his birthday!
Horropedia pauses the movie and clears his throat. "Yes? Who is it?"
The door slowly creaks open. He swears it was locked.
There's no one outside in the empty hallway.
Silence settles in and his mind begins to race. It's too late for any of his usual guests - neither Tooth Fairy nor Blonney would go out of their way to find him at this hour. By now, everyone should be asleep. Even the more rebellious and nocturnal guests preferred to mind their business as soon as the night came.
The smile on Horropedia's face widens at this. He doesn't know who could be out there at this ungodly hour, trying to lure him outside, but he wanted to find out badly.
All he needs to do is follow the script. Oh, but what sort of protagonist could he play? There was a big difference between an innocent question like "Who's out there?" and a demand like "Show yourself!"
Full of giddy energy, Horropedia opens his mouth, ready to deliver his best performance, when a small voice interrupts him.
"Oh, thank fuck, you're actually awake."
A familiar head peeks out from the door frame - it's you, his partner in crime! The disappointment on his face must be visible even in this light, because he hears you huff in immediate protest. Horropedia sighs, long and hard, feeling his soul leave his body.
"Hey, come on. Can I come in or not?"
"You already know the answer to that," Horropedia crawls back onto the sofa, dropping face down onto the pillows and blankets with loud thud. First you make his heart leap in vain, and now you want to ask unnecessary questions?
Perhaps he wasn't clear enough in previous interactions with you - but as his partner in crime and closest confidant, you should know better. This is an exclusive privilege he bestowed upon you and only you: to come and go as you please and treat his room like your own.
When he speaks again, it comes out muffled and defeated. "Mwake fure to cwose the dwoor..."
"...What?"
Horropedia raises his head from the pillow, glasses crooked and hairpins all over his head, doing a poor job at keeping the hair out of his eyes.
"Door!" And then he plops back down.
He knows its silly and irrational to get so worked up over something like this, a small interruption, just a little setback in his carefully scheduled night. All he needs to do is count and breathe.
One, two, three. It's not that bad, he can simply rewind the movie and start from the beginning. Besides, now he has you here! The perfect companion for a marathon. Four, five, six. It's hard to breathe properly when all he's getting is a lungful of couch, but soon, that frustration in his chest dissipates. Seven, eight, nine...Ten.
Horropedia turns his head to look at you, standing in front of him after locking the door.
"So, to what do I owe this visi- OW?!" He yelps in surprise once you pinch his leg, and he recoils and sits up on instinct, rubbing that sore spot. "Hey! That was uncalled for! What happened to our peace treaty?"
"Yeah, but now I get to sit down, so it's a win."
There's something off in the way you speak - it's your tone, lower and raspier than usual. Horropedia leans closer to you, squinting. Something else catches his eye, other than the way you avoid looking at him.
"Why are your eyes red and puffy?"
Even though all he has is the faint light of the TV screen, he sees it. The red marks in your eyes, the dried tears across your cheeks - you should've known by now, it's impossible to hide anything from his watchful and attentive eyes.
Horropedia's initial thoughts are allergies, but it seems unlikely in a closed space like this house. He remains still as a statue as your expression turns into one of shock, the question catching you entirely off-guard. When you fully turn away from him to rub your eyes, he knows something is wrong.
"On second thought, that was a very dumb question. Allow me to rectify - why were you crying?" He receives no response, and so he settles for finding an answer himself.
There's the uneven rise and fall of your chest, as if you were trying very hard to hold in a second wave of tears. Your hands have turned into trembling fists on your lap, and your shoulders are tense. Did you argue with someone? No, there's no one awake at this hour. In the stillness of the night, everyone would've heard it, anyway. For you to be in such a state, seeking him out this late at night...
"Ah," Horropedia's eyes soften as it all clicks into place. "Another dumb question. But third time's the charm, my friend! May I try again?"
He doesn't wait for an answer. His hand slides into your own, gently forcing you to stop clenching your fists and interlocking your fingers and his together with ease. Like this, he can hold you steady and ground you back to reality.
"Was it a very scary nightmare?"
The way Horropedia speaks is often louder than what is commonly expected, rarely changing from that perpetual matter-of-factly, cheeky tone he's known for. But now? He's gentle, endeared by the way you stubbornly continue to hide from him.
There's a nod, and you finally turn to face him. It's a heartbreaking sight, with your face tilted down, looking up at him like you've done something wrong. You allow your hair to fall over your eyes in one last effort to conceal this vulnerable moment, but Horropedia won't allow it.
Now that he's older, Horropedia finds it difficult and, at times, stupid to cry over things he knows aren't real - those nonsensical dreams caused by watching too many horror movies, reading scary stories before bedtime or any lingering events from his daily routine. But when he was just a child waking up in the middle of the night, tears streaming down his eyes, his first instinct was the same: to run as fast as he could into his grandfather's arms, the one person who could chase away all those night terrors.
Tonight is the night he steps up to reverse those roles. Horropedia wants nothing more than to offer you that same feeling of safety.
"There's three things we can do right now. One, we can pretend nothing happened and you can join me to watch movies until the sun rises or until we pass out from exhaustion, whichever comes first. Two, we can go raid the kitchen right now for some comfort food - lucky for you, I know where everyone hides their favorite snacks."
He pauses just enough to pique your interest, giving you one of his mysterious, cheeky smiles. "Three, you lay down with me and tell me all about this nightmare you had, so I can judge and nitpick all the scary elements in it."
That earns a little chuckle from you, a massive improvement from your pitiful expression back then - that's enough to seal your fate.
Horropedia slowly takes off his glasses and sets them on the table, before pulling you into a hug and falling onto the plush cushions. He makes sure to lay by the edge of the couch with you nestled safely inside, his body fully shielding you from the light of the TV screen. There's just enough space to lay down together like this, as long as you remain pressed up against his chest.
This is a first for him, for someone who struggles with this type of contact and rarely initiates it, and yet it feels as natural as breathing when it comes to you. It feels right, and he guesses he must be doing something right when you nuzzle and curl up into him, content and comfortable.
There's no trace of that fear from before. That tense atmosphere is fully gone, replaced with something that feels just like home - it's like he's 13 again, staying up late at night, having fun and doing things that the Foundation would never approve of, those illicit sleepovers under the safety of his blanket. But this time, he has you by his side.
Horropedia is painfully aware of his lack of skill when it comes to romance - he still pets your head the same way one would pet a dog rather than a person - but he can't bring himself to care in the slightest about all these rules and guidelines when he hears you laugh and complain about his cold hands on the small of your back. Then, he feels you poke at his monster slippers with your foot.
"You're still wearing these?" Before he can reply, you kick them off and they fall unceremoniously onto the floor. "They're so lame."
Horropedia deadpans. "You literally have a matching pair."
"Yeah, some nerdy nerd gave them to me."
He realizes you're joking when you avoid his eyes in an attempt to hide that smug grin, choosing to trace the colorful patterns and slasher killers depicted on his shirt instead. Somehow, he feels his heart skip a beat at this.
"Hey! I don't recall giving you the fourth option of making fun of me all night! Now, will you share that nightmare you had, or should we wait until I die from the suspense?"
This time, you're the one who catches him off-guard by cupping his face and planting a gentle kiss on his forehead. Feeling the warmth rise from his neck to the tip of his ears, Horropedia is left momentarily speechless. Perhaps he still needs a little more time to ease into this whole physical touch thing. Nonetheless, he remains docile under your touch, especially when you begin to play with his hair.
"It's funny," you begin speaking, carefully untangling the hairclips out of that mess of brown hair, undoing his ponytail. "I can't even remember what it was about, at least not all of it. It just feels... Like it was something very dumb, even if it made me cry. I guess it's that whole thing you keep saying, about how psychological horror is scarier because there's no actual tangible monster or creature or whatever to blame for everything."
"Thank you! Finally, someone who thinks alike! The whole fear factor is greatly reduced when you can see the origin of all these supernatural or scary, inexplicable events. Humanity's biggest enemy is their own mind, and to us arcanists is our emotions. That's why, to some people, ghosts are scarier than robbers - which makes sense, despite being entirely illogical at the same time..."
It's hard to stop once he gets going, and so Horropedia continues talking, so immersed in his own thoughts and theories that he doesn't even register the way you've wrapped both arms around his torso, nuzzling into his chest and breathing him in.
Every so often, you give him a weak, drowsy reply and he only realizes you've fallen asleep when all he hears is your gentle snoring. The movie continues to play in the background, but all of his senses are focused on you.
Had it been anyone else, Horropedia would've been offended. But it's you we're talking about. One of the very few people who pay attention to what he says, who cares enough to sit through hours of ramblings and to debate him on things he might've missed or overlooked. Who would never think of changing the way he is.
There's stars in his eyes when he looks down at your sleeping form, absolutely mesmerized. Usually, you're the one helping him through the tedious social interactions, to understand when he might be overstepping or acting rudely. In a sea of blank, emotionless and confusing faces, yours is the one he looks for guidance and solace. When nothing makes sense and he's lost in an abundance of unspoken rules of conduct, discipline and etiquette, your voice is the one that rises above all.
He may not know how to show it, he may not even realize it himself, but his appreciation for you runs deeper than his love for horror. Horropedia is honored to know that, just this once, he was able to help you. That he's the first one you sought out at your most vulnerable.
Horropedia presses his lips to the top of your head - a gentle, feathery kiss as to not disturb your sleep. And he remains there, your anchor to reality, as his eyelids feel heavier and heavier. The last thing he remembers before sleep takes over is your voice, not quite awake and not quite asleep, thanking him.
What are you even thanking him for, silly? Have you forgotten already? It's fine, because Horropedia will always be there to remind you: you can always count on him, no matter what.

BITE ME- 2: The Party
Pairing: Jake x Female Reader
Genre: Vampire Enhypen and Human Reader College Strangers to Friends to Lovers!AU
Synopsis: Set in present-day Pacific Northwest US. Y/n in a college student, and keeps to herself. One day, she has strange encounters with two statuesque men, one of which invites her to a party (at their mansion ofc) where she drunkenly confesses that she can't pay her rent. Vast and highly believable events ensue, leading to her live with 7 a-little-too-perfect guys. That's all you need to know.
â Masterlist â Nextâ
When I walk in the door of my apartment I see that mail has been dropped off. On the top is an envelope that reads *URGENT RENT NOTICE* Shit. Itâs due again already? Thereâs no way I have enough. With all of my classes, I barely have time to pick up shifts at the bookstore. I do as much as I can, but clearly it is not enough. I wouldnât have this problem if I could have a few roommatesâŚI havenât been able to find any that would work, though. Everytime I meet up with someone, it is clear that their definition of sharing chores and keeping the apartment in order are VERY different from mine. Do I have a problem? maybeâŚslightlyâŚI just like to keep things clean. When they are not clean I get panicked, and start sweating and breathing heavily. I know I should just suck it up and get roommates no matter what state they keep their rooms in. The alternative is having to go and live back at homeâŚwhich is hours away. Not exactly a daily commute distance. I sigh heavily, because this is the last thing I need to be worrying about right now. The semester is ramping up, and my classes are keeping me extremely busy. I hardly have time to eat.
My mind shifts to the party I agreed to go to tomorrow. Now, I am considering that itâs not such a good idea. What was I thinking? I donât have time to go to parties, I have papers to write! Something about Jake though⌠it draws me in. Sunoo, too. Even after the short interactions we had I am intrigued and want to know more. They have eyes that make me forget who I am, and what I was thinking. I shake away the thought. I will just reevaluate tomorrow. Right now, I have two papers due that require all of my attention.
Before that, though, I need to spill all of this to Gracie. She knows better than anyone that I rarely have information to gossip about boys. I pull up her contact and hit facetime. She answers immediately.
âHiiiiâ She says
âHi. So. Super weird day.â
âOh? Tell me more. Did a goose chase you to your car again?â
She will never let me live that down. âNo, actually. This has to do with the statues.â
âSPILL!â She practically yells
âOkay, okay⌠so I ran into Jake today. Like actually rammed into him because I wasnât looking in front of me because of the rain. Then he gave me his umbrella. Before you ask, yes, he is perfect up closeâ
She squeals. Iâm smiling, too, because this is the most excitement I have had all semester. âThen at work Sunoo comes in and just like, lounges up against the front desk. He doesnât even look around the store, he just kindaâŚstared at me? I donât know. Then he invited me to a party thatâs happening at their house tomorrow, and for some reason I said I would go.â
âOh. My. God.â
âI know.â
âThis is insane!!!! Wait, do you think he knows who you are? Do you think he planned to invite you specifically and thatâs why he came into the store? What will you wear?!â
For the next hour we go over the interactions multiple times. If there's one thing we are gonna do, itâs overanalyze. I hang up the phone feeling winded from laughing so much. I am actually looking forward to tomorrow now, just thinking about relaying the entire experience back to her the next day. Once I have settled down I realize it is almost midnight and I need to get to homework.
I sit at my desk, put on my classical music playlist, and get to work. Hours later as I lay in bed, I think about my interactions with the two mysterious boys. Why canât I shake the feeling that I want to know them more? â
I am looking at my closet and quickly realize I have nothing that works to go to this party. Judging by Sunoos clothes yesterday, which was (likely luxury) black straight leg pants, a tastefully oversized sweater, and a long jacket over the top, I can imagine his party outfit will be just as impressive. I try to remember what Jake was wearing and my memory falls short. I was so focused on the fact that he was actually in front of me that I did not take the time to assess his fashion choices. I smile to myself, thinking about the umbrella he gave me. Chivalry is not dead, I guess.
Okay, back to business. I rifle through my closet, and end up deciding to try and replicate what Sunoo wore. Is that weird? I mean, my version looks very different. I end up choosing a pair of straight leg black pants, a dark red corset-style top (something in me decided to buy it months ago and I have never had an opportunity to wear it out), and of course I throw on a chunky knit cardigan on top. Because I may be going to a party, but I am still me.
I opt to keep my hair as-is, mostly because I donât know how to do anything else. Itâs getting longer, probably the longest it's been since high school, hitting just past my shoulders. For makeup, I do a simple winged eyeliner, with lots of blush on my cheeks. Looking at my reflection, I think damn, okay. I did that.
I decide to just wear my sneakers, because I'm not like other girls.
In reality, it is just all I have and I doubt anyone will look at my feet at a party. I check the time, my phone reading 8:36pm. I take a deep breath, grab my purse, and head out the door.
The drive takes about 15 minutes; their house is a little out of the way. I donât know what to expect as I turn onto a long driveway. I have heard people talk at school, saying that the boys live in a mansion or a castle. I never thought that would be literally true until it is right in front of me.
Wow. This place is massive. I donât find myself around mansionsâŚever, actually so I canât really judge. All I know is the expansive modern/minimalist house is very large, and very nice. Warm lighting spills from inside, and I canât help but think about how inviting it looks. Something about the persona and reputation of the boys had me expecting it to look cold and dark, but I am quickly realizing I might be reading too many gothic novels.
I find a place to park and take a deep breath. This is WAY outside of my comfort zone. I donât have many friends, which is how I like it. College people are a lot of work. My mom tells me I'm an old soul because I spend my weekends at a book club with women 50 years and older. It is just easier that way. There is no drama, no misunderstanding, and no unrealistic expectations.
Something about Sunoo made me want to do what he said. Not in a demanding sort of way, just in that something about our personalities just clicked. I think I might have a chance of making a friend my age after all.
â
I can hear the noise of lots of people inside. I am thoroughly intimidated, but I am already here so, fuck it. I open the front door- because I wonât be the person who knocks at a party. I have some sense. I walk in, squeezing past crowds of people. Loud music blares, although I donât know from where. There must be speakers all throughout this house with how much it is projecting.
A makeshift dance floor has formed, with a few too many people grinding than I want to make eye contact with. As I try and make a beeline out of that area, I feel myself trip on someone's foot. Great. Before I can fully flail and make a fool of myself, I feel arms grab a hold of my wrists and steady me.
I look up and make eye contact with my savior. I am met with deeply brown eyes, long eyelashes, an absurdly chiseled jawline, and tastefully thick eyebrows.
âYou okay?â I read his lips, but I canât hear him over the loud music.
I nod my head in response, and realize I am just as much clutching to his wrists as he is mine. To be honest, I have no idea how much time passes as we stand there, holding wrists and looking into each other's eyes like we are in some romance movie.
Our contact is broken, but only for him to lightly grab hold of my shoulders and bring me closer to him. So close that I no longer can see his face and only feel his breathe on my ear as he says:
âThat was definitely my foot you tripped on. Iâm sorry.â
I shift so that it is my mouth almost touching his ear in order to respond by saying:
âIt could have been anyone. We are packed like sardines in here and I wasnât exactly paying attention to whose feet were where.â I smile, which I know he can feel because I can see goosebumps form on his porcelain neck.
I lean back, so we are facing each other again. This much eye contact would normally make me squirm, but I am surprisingly keeping my cool. Although I have never met him, I recognize as being one of the guys who lives here. There is perfection about him that can be only described as ethereal. Like a statue.
Okay. Let me not gawk at him.
I clear my throat and look around me. Trying to not make it obvious that I donât know where to take this conversation.
When I look back at him, there is a ghost of a smile on his lips.
He leans in again, his scent invading my headspace. It's all woody and masculine, but not heavy on the cologne. I canât help but swoon a little bit.
âIâm Sunghoon,â he says. âAnd you look like you could use a drink.â
âYes.â I reply. âIâm y/n.â
The smile, or maybe I should say half smile, stays. I canât help but notice it falters for just a half second, though.
He grabs a hold of my hand and starts leading me through the crowd before I can overthink that split change in expression. At least I donât have to worry about tripping over anyoneâs toes, the crowd parts for Sunghoon effortlessly. We approach a bar- yes an actual bar. In the house. Money never ceases to amaze me.
Manning the booth is a tall, dark haired, (almost equally to Sunghoon) chiseled individual. I notice there is more of a point to his face, and his expression stays hard. When Sunghoon approaches, he nods in silent recognition. His eyes shift to me, and there lies a question in his eyes. No doubt wondering who I am, and why I am glued to Sunghoonâs side. I am not intentionally staying so close, it just so happens that it's hard to keep a distance when there are so many people packed in a room. Not that Iâm complaining. Thereâs a safety I canât explain standing with him.
Sunghoon walks behind the bar like he owns the place. Which, I guess he kind of does.
They each have an energy about them that is so magnetizing I just canât seem to pull away, nor do I want to. He looks over to me, grinning, and I melt. I am no better than the gossiping girls who fawn over the elusive statue boys. He hands me a reddish pink drink in a glass. I look around to the others around me. Everyone else is holding red solo cups, which is what I expected as well. But no, I have an ice- cold crystal glass in my hands. I almost hold it with both hands just to be cautious. I take a small sip to find a very strong vodka cranberry. I donât drink often, so I know I will have to nurse this one drink all night in order to not regret all my choices.
Sunghoon rejoins me at my side, holding an identical glass. A comfortable silence surrounds the two of us as we stand on the outskirts of the thick crowd of partiers.
ây/n.â I can feel his breath on my ear, shivers running through my body.
âHm?â I reply, turning to face him again.
âYouâve never come to our parties before.â Itâs not a question.
âNo, I havenât. How did you know?â
âYou are clearly not comfortable here. Plus I would have known.â He doesnât elaborate just how he would have known.
âHm.â I say again. Why do I keep humming? My mind is swimming with thoughts and completely blank simultaneously.
Just before he can say another word, I feel someone grab both my shoulders.
âYou came!!â Sunoo. I take a relaxed breath.
âHi!â I say and turn to face him.
He wraps me in a hug. Iâm a little stiff, as I would not have expected this level of affection, however I lean into it. Itâs nice.
âI didnât think you would actually show. You look hot by the way. All the right choices.â I feel triumphant.
âThank you,â I say with a smile. I donât know when we became such good friends, but I am not mad about it. I havenât felt this kind of friendship inyears.
âDo you dance?â he asks, âPlease come danceâ
How could I say no? With the twinkle in his eye, I could never.
âSure, yeah, let's do it!â
I feel additionally much more open to the idea of dancing with Sunoo after that strong ass drink Sunghoon gave me. Why on earth wouldnât I want to dance?
Kesha is blaring through the speakers, and I yell to Sunoo who has started to drag me out to the middle of the dancefloor, âThis is my shit!!â
Was it? Who cares, I felt free, and you bet your ass I was about to jump around to âblowâ by Kesha.
Before I can think deeply of it, I look back to Sunghoon. He is leaning against the wall, watching. His glass is empty now, that same light grin on his lips. His lips. They look so good. Should I tell him? I definitely drank too much of my Vodka cranberry in an effort to do something with myself while just standing there next to Sunghoon. It was the party equivalent to twiddling my thumbs.
Before I could finish that thought about whether or not I should tell Sunghoon just how good he looks (which I definitely should not), Sunoo and I are jumping around on the dance floor. I donât know what comes over me, and yet I am moving my body in ways I never have before.
I feel Sunooâs body tight next to mine, jumping and shaking and laughing. I havenât had this much funâŚever.
We are holding hands, singing in each other's faces, and thoroughly getting into it. When I can feel my hair sticking to my face from sweat, I know it's time I find some water.
I mouth âwater!â to Sunoo, who nods in agreement and takes my hand. We walk back to the bar, laughing and singing the current song. The guy behind the bar, (was he this handsome before, or did he get handsome-er?) shakes his head, clearly this not being the first time heâs seen Sunoo like this.
âWater please, Jay!!â Sunoo yells. Jay. So thatâs his name. âMake it ICY!â
Jay hands us our waters, this time in red cups, and adds âICE water, your majestyâ and adds in a little bow, clearly joking. So heâs funny. I like him.
Right now, I like everything. Why donât I drink more often?
Sunoo leads me to a quiet corner. I think it's a separate room, or maybe a hallway. I donât know. Things are fuzzy.
I sink to the floor, to which Sunoo follows suit.
âYour houseâŚis massive.â I say. No shit.
He laughs. âYeah. Too big for its own good.â
I just smile. âI'm jealousâ I say, getting far too close to his face.
He looks at me, more serious this time. âWhere are you living, anyway?â
âHmmâŚlike 15 minutes from here? Close to campus. Itâs a tiny apartment. Not for long, thoughâ
âYouâre moving?â I think I see a look of concern on his face, but itâs gone faster than it came.
âMaybe? I might be forced to. I got another letter today telling me to pay my rent, in Big. Bold. Letters.â Why am I saying all this? Why canât I stop? Oh god, I am going to say more. âThe problem isâŚI donât have the moneyâ Iâm slurring some of my words.
âYou canât pay your rent?â Now he definitely sounds concerned.
Oh no, I canât have him feeling bad for me. Not when we just met and now I am trauma dumping on him.
âWell, no, not technically. I just need to get some roommates? The problem is⌠I canât findâŚanyâŚthey are all so dirty and so much drama. I canât do it. I would rather move back home.â
âWhere is home?â He asks, so gently.
âAboutâŚ6 hours away? Give or take?â I donât know how I would be able to stay in school if I had to move back home. My dream has always been to come to college, and I can feel it slipping away. My eyes start to pool.
I cannot cry to Sunoo right now. Before I can get up and pretend this conversation ever happened, he says, âWe have lots of extra rooms.â
Iâm confused. Is he just saying that to flaunt how big their house is? He doesnât seem like the type, but I donât know him, not really. I donât say anything.
âI could talk to the boys.â He says, as if this clarifies anything.
Because I am drunk, and filter be damned, I reply, âIâm sorryâŚwhat? What are you saying?â
He chuckles. âYou could stay in one of our rooms. We have plenty, many more than we could ever need. Iâll talk to the boys.â
This is insane. âNoâŚno, I could never ask you to do that. I hope you donât think I- I didnât say all that just for you to offerâŚiâm fine.â my response comes out choppy and I am moving my hands around far too much, but I canât help it. I could never accept something like this. Especially not from him, who I literally just met.
âShhhh. Iâm not saying they will say yes. Iâm just saying I'll ask them. Okay?â
And because I literally cannot say no to this man (seriously is he magic or something?) I just nod slowly, and then weakly say âokay.â
He smiles, satisfied, and stands up. Clearly he has not drunk as much as me, or just has a higher tolerance. I, however, get up slowly using the wall the whole way up to stabilize. My head is spinning. Itâs about time I call it a night. I follow Sunoo back into the party chaos.
âI thinkâŚI need to go home.â I tell him.
âOkay, did you drive here? You definitely cannot drive home.â Shit. I forgot.
âUmâŚyeah I did. Maybe I could Uber?â I should never have drank. Iâm supposed to be saving money, not spending it on an Uber ride home from a party. I needed to loosen up, though, and I somehow canât feel bad for all the fun I had tonight.
âWait hereâŚIâll be right back.â He says and disappears into the crowd. How does he move so quickly? I swear he just disappeared in front of my eyes. Wow, Iâm a lightweight. Noted.
I lean up against the wall, just watching the crowd. I have no idea where Sunoo went off to, but I donât have it in me to think deeply about it. I lightly shut my eyes when I feel the presence of someone right in front of me. Sunooâs back, and he brought someone.
âYou know Jake, right?â He asks me. This wakes me right up, and I straighten up and clear my throat. I think I even attempt to fix my hair.
âUmâŚyeah. I thinkâŚIâve met him beforeâŚâ Or literally yesterday. Or took a class with him last semester. Or have seen him around and watched him from afar a few too many times. None of these things I say.
âHi,â he says, doing a little wave. Wow, he's cute.
âHiâ I say, and smile lightly.
âJake is going to drive you home. Okay? He hasnât drank tonight. I was going to ask Hoon but heâs already four drinks deep.â Is Sunoo my guardian angel or something? Heâs being so kind, and I donât know why. I appreciate it, but it's unexpected with the cold exterior all of the statue boys have. Itâs a nice surprise.
âOhâŚthatâs okay! I can just order an Uber or something! Really, donât worry about it.â I reply.
âI donât mind.â Jake replies. He doesnât sound annoyed, which is good. I donât have the energy to argue any more about it, so I reply,
âThank you, really. Iâll repay you somehowâ Iâm not sure how, but surely thereâs something I can do for him.
He just grins and turns, expecting me to follow, which I do. We weave through bodies to go into another unknown hallway. The sounds of the party are distant now, but we still donât say anything. He opens a door, leading to a garage. We are met with a long row of cars, all of which look brand new and expensive. Jake walks over to a small black Porsche and opens the passenger side door, gesturing for me to get in, which I do.
âThanks.â I say. The car smells amazing. I canât quite place it but it's my kryptoniteâŚclean. It sounds weird, but something being clean is quite possibly the best thing ever to me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath in. Jake gets into the driver's seat. I try not to stare butâŚheâs wearing a black t-shirt, and it fits in all the right places. He isnât exactly bulky, but it's clear he is strong. Veins gently protrude from his arm, running down to his hands. Okay, Iâm definitely staring. The man is beautiful, with skin that looks like glass. How is that even possible?
I look up to his face, where he is staring at me. He noticed me checking him out. Yikes, I will lie awake thinking about that fact later. He doesnât look disgusted, though. He actually looks almostâŚamused? Iâm reminded by the fact that he is ogled by every other girl at the University. This is not a rare occurrence for him, and he probably expects no less.
I look away, suddenly finding my hands very interesting. He turns on the car, and looks behind him as he backs the car out of the garage. Thank god for the radio, which breaks the silence. As we settle into the drive, I try to focus on the music rather than the very beautiful and large man next to me.
He clears his throat. âUh, whatâs your address?â he asks. Oh right, of course he wouldnât just know where I live. I tell him, and he nods his head like he knows where heâs going. He doesnât plug it into maps. Confident.
âAre you taking any other literature courses this semester?â I ask, genuinely curious.
âWhat?â Oh my god, does he not remember that we took a class together?
Itâs okay, itâs fine. Letâs be confident. No going back, now. âWe took the same Romanticism Literature class last semester. You might not have seen me⌠I only talked a few timesâŚâ Or every class. I was one of those people who would raise my hand when no one else would, which just happened to be just about every class. Other than when Jake chimed in.
âOh yeah, I remember you. No actually, Iâm not taking any literature courses. I wanted to, it just didnât really fit with my schedule.â
âI hate when that happensâ I reply.
âWhat about you?â He asks
âOh, yeah I am taking a few. I am an English Lit major so itâs kind of requiredâ
He chuckles lightly at this, which makes me feel like I won the lottery. I steal a look over to him to see if I can catch a glimpse of his smile. Itâs gone before I could, back to the ever-stoic Jake.
We fall into another silence, though this time much more comfortable. Before I know it, we pull into the parking lot of my apartment complex. It just now occurs to me that we simply left my car back at their house.
âThank you so much, really. I appreciate it a lot. I donât drink much, so I guess I didnât realize Iâm that much of a lightweight.â
He shakes his head, âno problem, glad you got home safe.â
âShould IâŚcome pick up my car tomorrow?â This is awkward.
âWill you be on campus tomorrow?â he asks.
âYeah, I was planning on being in the library for a while, why?â
âI can just meet you on campus and drive you back to my place. From there you can take your car.â Wow, how are they all so generous?
âThatâs perfect. Thank you so much, Iâm sorry to put so much trouble on youâ
He looks right into my eyes, and I would lie if I pretended my heart didnât squeeze at his brown eyes. âIt's no trouble. I'll find you tomorrow.â
âGreat.â I reply. I unbuckle and start to get out of the car, but he grabs my wrist. I turn to face him again, but he says first;
âDrink some water, and take some medicine. Youâll thank me tomorrow.â His eyes are so kind, I could look into them forever. I almost just do, but then I remember this is reality and not my dream world. So I just smile, tight-lipped, and get out of the car.
The cool air is a nice change, as I notice how warm my cheeks got in Jakeâs presence. It might be the alcohol, right?

Murder! You Wrote.
An interactive second person being of view Devil May Cry fanfiction!
Poll is at the end of the chapter!
Firstly, you will need to read each part as it's posted. In order for the story to go on, you will have to vote on what happens next! Now, this can go in several different directions, so please pay attention for the little clues. You can guess who the murderer is before the story ends, but the reveal will be at the end. Have fun!
Also, this will be a Gender Neutral Reader and there will be no use of pronouns or detailed descriptions. YOU are the Reader. This is pretty much your story, I'm just throwing out possibilities! đ
It's dark. So dark that the street lights do not provide much luminance to see the words on the sign above the entrance to the hotel. The rain from earlier in the day made the air muggy on this autumn night. You are trying hard to see ahead of you, but the fog has made it difficult. Groaning, you reach into your Jean pocket for the small piece of paper with the address written on it.
As you bring it up to your eyes, you see that you are indeed in the tight place. However, it is not as you expected it to be.
You were expecting this grand hotel. Not this rundown, building in the middle of spookyville. If someone were to go missing, this was the place. The atmosphere alone was speaking to you. Yes, this was the perfect place for inspiration for your next book.
After all, you were a world-renowned murder/mystery author.
Most, if not all, of your books were inspired by places you have visited around the world. It was no surprise that your books were on par with Agatha Christie, but you were stuck on this next one. Your publisher was urging you to write your next book, but you were burnt out from publishing book after book.
You were here for the local Oddities and Curiosities convention as a guest speaker. Except your hotel was not as lavish as the convention organizers said it was. Oh well, at least you did not have to pay for it.
You swallowed as you felt like you were the victims of one of your own stories. This had to be a stupid decision. Maybe you should have politely declined their offer of free lodgings. Next time you will be more mindful of that.
The buzz of the lights in the outdated lobby was the setting of a movie you had seen once. Not a particularly good movie, but it was still enough to set you on edge. There were two chairs up against the mint colored walls with a table in between them. The dim lighting almost made everything look like some insane asylum. Even the white linoleum floor gave you this uncomfortable dread. The long hallway before you stretched on for an eternity. It invited you into some horror you could not explain as it rolled in your belly.
DING!
The feeling vanished as you felt yourself nearly jump out of your skin. You turn around to see a man standing at the reception desk. He was leaning against it with his back turned to you.
"Yo! Anyone there?" He said. You noticed he was dressed rather odd. A red coat, leather pants, and boots. The other strange thing was the color of his hair. "Service really stinks around here." He scoffed as he stood up straight. "They tell you it's a five-star hotel, then this shit happens." You knew he was talking to you when he turned his head to the side.
"It could be worse." The words popped out of your mouth. "For all I know, this could be some H.H. Holmes bullshit hotel." You knew the story about the famous Chicago murder hotel in the 1890's. You wrote a fantastic historical fiction novel about it. "Next thing you know, you fall into a vat of acid or something." There was a short laugh from the man with the white hair.
"Heh, I've seen worse." He turned around to look at you. "You look like the type to be into that sort of thing anyway." You shrugged.
"I know a thing or two." After all, you spent countless hours of research on all sorts of egregious crimes. He nodded, probably not really interested in what you were there for in the first place. "Actually, I need to check in."
"Well, I'd go find a better place if I were you." Obviously, but you were a bit on the poor side at the moment. No new book, and you spent most of your money fixing up your Victorian home. "Service is lacking, and there is no bar." A bar was essential for your work to begin.
There was the sound of someone clearing their throat. Both you and the stranger in red turned to the direction of the sound to see another man. This man was peculiar. He was just as tall as the odd man you were speaking to, but he was as pale as a dead body. Black hair swept back with as much hair gel that could be mustered to keep those locks in check. He was certainly gaunt withp his cheekbones poking out like sharp alabaster. The dark circles under his eyes also did not help his appearance either.
Just looking at the man gave you a distrustful feeling.
"May I be of assistance?" You gulp at the sight of the man behind the reception desk. He gives you a blank stare. You swear up and down that you are in some kind of dream, but you know you are not. You shake off the tingling feeling going down your back as you look to the red clad stranger you were speaking with earlier. He shrugs with a small smirk on his lips.
"Uh... yes, sorry." You pull out your phone with your reservation details already up on the screen. The receptionist only looks down with his eyes as you put your phone on the desk. "I'm here for the convention. My room should already be paid for the weekend."
"Ah yes... the Author." The gaunt man said with a drill voice that dragged out each syllable. He reminded you of Professor Snape from Harry Potter. The slow retort was enough to make you really wonder if you had stepped into some alternate reality.
The grunt from the man next to you said otherwise.
"Uh, yeah, I'm here for the Oddities and Curiosities Convention." You took your phone from the desk and put it in your back pocket. "The convention people were supposed to pay for all of my expenses."
"Yes, everything is paid in full." The half lidded dark eyes of the man across from you seemed to be staring out into nothing as he turned over a page in the log book. Was this place not up to date? Everything was... old fashioned. "Please wait." It was as if the man were a robot as he promptly turned away.
"Seems like everything here is all analog." You made the observation as you saw the old television sitting on a table in the corner behind the desk. "Even that TV looks like it's straight out of the 60's." You told the stranger you met earlier.
"That's nothing, you should see the rooms." He pointed over his shoulder towards the hall. "Rotary phones and vibrating beds with coin slots." That was really bad. And gross, but he looked pretty jovial about it. "It's like I'm back in the late 80's." You were not sure if you should run far away or not.
"I'm really glad I brought disinfectant spray." You thought about the can of Lysol you normally carried around for reasons like this. It was safely stored in your backpack. You traveled light, only bringing what you really needed with you. "Can't do anything about the bed bugs though."
"If it makes you feel any better, at least the sheets are clean." Thank the heavens for that. There was one saving grace about meeting the man you were standing there with.
"Are you here for the convention too?" You asked him. You were curious about why someone dressed like him was actually there.
"Nah, just in town for a job." He seemed to be dismissive of the whole thing. "My client is paying for the weekend, but said client hasn't shown up yet."
"That sucks." You wondered what kind of work the man did. He was definitely dressed for something a bit more lucrative. Red coat, faded Henley, and not to mention the guns. Two guns. .45 caliber. Custom made.
You knew guns only by the research you did for your books. He had to be some kind of undercover agent or assassin... something like that. This was giving you some ideas for your next book at least.
"Here is your key." The receptionist came back slamming the key on the counter to grab your attention. "Your room is on the second floor. Breakfast is provided until 9 AM." You hesitantly took the key while trying not to show you were slightly perturbed by the zombie across from you. "Enjoy your stay." He said slowly and ominously.
"Thanks... I guess." You looked at the man you had been talking to before with a bit of nervousness. "See you around."
"Yeah. I'm sure we'll run into each other again." He gave a mock salute with a smirk before turning his attention to the zombie receptionist.
You slowly made your way up to your room. The elevator was apparently out of order, so you took the stairs. Thankfully the second floor was not too bad. It had a different theme going on. Instead of mint green walls, they were more of a salmon color with brown and orange accents. It could be much worse.
Once you found your room, you unlocked the door and opened it. The guy downstairs was right. It was pretty bad, but at least it did not smell like an old musty hotel. It was actually not that bad. The bed definitely had a coin mechanism, but at least it looked comfy with the beige linens and brown comforter.
At least the shower was in working order.
You threw your back pack on the red chair in the corner before getting ready for bed. Tomorrow you were going to have breakfast, then you had to be at the convention center for ten.
You were sleeping pretty well until you heard something strange coming from the vent above your bed. A strange ticking sound had made its way into your dreams before pulling you to the land of the living. The ticking was not like a clock. It was more like little finger nails tapping on the vent. The rhythm of it had you sleepless for the rest of the night.
Until it stopped at 5AM on the dot.
You were tired when you rolled out of bed at 7. Your feet dragged as you made your way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Brushing your teeth had been a slow process as you stared into the mirror. Your eyes had dark circles under them indicating your three or so hours of sleep were not enough. Your eyes were slightly bloodshot from being awake as well.
Hopefully you would get a better rest when you returned from the convention.
Going down the stairs was an endeavor. You held on to the railing for dear life as you made your way to the first floor. You were in desperate need of caffeine and you really hoped the coffee at the breakfast bar was adequate enough for your refined tastes. If not, you could always find a Starbucks on the way to the convention.
Once you finally made your way to the first floor, you found the breakfast room. It came as a surprise to see there were five other people there.
The one you recognized first was the man with the red coat you had spoken to last night. He was sitting quietly at a table practically inhaling his waffles while another man sat in front of him. The two men were similar in features which clearly made them related. While the man in red was more relaxed, the one sitting across looked as though he was losing his patience.
Oh well, eggs and bacon were calling you.
You did notice a man and woman giving each other the cold shoulder as they ate their breakfast. The couple was in their early thirties at most and sat two chairs down from each other. It was obvious they were having a silent fight with each other. She would glance at him with hurtful eyes every now and then.
Then there was the older woman quietly sitting at the table by the window with a book in her hand. Her glasses were on the tip of her nose as she sat there. Her dark skin hinted at her Sub-Saharan ancestors. You admired her poise as she sat there eating and enjoying her book. A book which you had written almost ten years ago.
She must be there for the convention as well.
Just as you were dropping spoonful of scrambled eggs on your plate, a scream rang out through the entire first floor.
All at once, everyone in the room stopped moving and turned their attention to the hallways outside. Your immediate instinct was to find out where that scream originated from, so you took your plate and headed out of the room.
Being the true crime fanatic that you were, you followed the wailing sound of a woman who was in obvious distress. Turning left down another corridor, you saw her kneeling on the linoleum floor with her hands over her mouth as she cried. You did not even bother to put your plate down as you stepped closer to the red headed woman sitting on the floor.
"Are you okay, Miss?" She did not turn to look at you as she began to shake uncontrollably. You noticed there was a puddle of blood in the doorway as you moved closer. "Miss?"
"He's... dead." The woman muttered out while still staring into the room she was about to enter. You crept ever so slowly to look inside, but what you saw made you drop your plate.
It was a blood bath.
The whole room was coated in blood. The body of a man had been contorted in an unnatural way. It was something you had never seen or heard about before in any case. Murder like this was not murder, but something else entirely.
"What the hell?" Was all you heard before you suddenly found yourself being pulled from the scene by a hand on your arm.

15, 19, 21, 33!
15: favorite movie if we're talking comfort movies, it's singin' in the rain :) but the most beautiful film i've ever seen is in the mood for love by wong kar-wai, so that's a favourite of mine on a different level. there's something sublime about the way it is filmed, the framing, lighting, colouring are all perfect, the interaction between visual and aural components adds this almost otherworldly quality at times, the locations are perfectly chosen, the characters draw you in - and then the story is beautiful too. if you haven't seen it, i would recommend it! another favourite of mine is the ghost and mrs. muir (1947). a wonderful romance with a bitter-sweetness to it (somewhat like in the mood for love in that sense)
19: a fact about your personality i can get fired up really quickly if im talking with someone about something im passionate about and they don't agree with me (like climate change or capitalism or palestine). i don't start screaming or anything, but i can get a little aggressive in my interaction once i start feeling like i have to defend my point. sometimes that can make for lively discussions, but i try to keep in mind not to become too direct and aggressive and consider the other person's arguments, bc even though i may be convinced that im right, i may not be, and even if i am, someone else's thoughts and experiences still matter.
21: what i love most about myself hmm i think the way that there's a couple things that i have some talent for, like writing, or making music, or drawing - i guess i love that im a jack of all trades? the downside is that i never have enough time to expand on all my hobbies, so i stay stuck at the same level forever. haven't drawn or written anything fictional in years, for example. im hoping to set aside some time after work and during weekends going forward to change that though!
33: what words make me feel the best about myself i mean ye olde 'handsome' never hits wrong, but if someone calls me 'determined' or tells me i work like a draft horse (normal thing to say in dutch, like, working hard for long periods of time) that's really what makes me feel proud of myself.

Day 2 - Packed to the gills with PERFECT!
July 16, 2023
What a day we have had! If I were ranking today on a 10 point scale, I would give it a 25!! Groceries were delivered in the time slot given (shocking!) and everything else fell into place, as planned - a much better day than yesterday.
Today was Sagan's oral report on James Smithson and we all learned so much. It was a firm A+++++
If you want to see the entire report it is here:
After a round of appreciative applause, we began preparations for our "lunch on the run" with sandwiches from Panera ( our next door neighbor.) Then we headed by Metro to Planet Word. Temps were in the low 70s with an intermittent spitting of rain but although we had our umbrellas, we didn't need them.
Planet Word is a GREAT museum celebrating... wait for it... WORDS: the history of language, the joy of reading and the power of writing. The exhibits are very well done and highly engaging - even the elevator is fun.
Yes - this IS the elevator!!!
The word wall is informative, interactive and brilliantly done.
After a short time exploring the general exhibits we headed into Lexicon Lane. Lexicon Lane is a combination escape room and puzzle hunt, designed to resemble an old village with the choice of 26 unique puzzle âcasesâ for visitors to solve. We picked our "case" and had 1.5 hours to solve the clues and save the world from disaster.
It was a blast to watch these minds in action.
Clues were everywhere, hidden in plain sight.
Needless to say, the world is in great hands!! They did indeed save the world but it took most of our time.
(True confession - LaVerne and I tried a different box last year and our time expired and we did NOT save the world nor get to ring the bell.)
I have worried and fretted and made a plan to try an beat the 90+ degree heat during our trip, but I failed to make a plan for visiting a place where the air conditioning was set to winter! I asked to have the temperature changed - and the "host" who was wearing a heavy sweatshirt, relayed my request but nothing changed. We were uncomfortably cold - but they solved it anyway. BRRRRRRRR.
We did NOT see even 1/2 of al this place had to offer, partly because once we entered an exhibit no one wanted to leave. The reading table was an amazing experience. Pick a book, open it and suddenly your book was surrounded by "extras." It was brilliant - but who wanted to leave this place?
This room, lined with books and a mirrored ceiling giving the illusion that book cases continued to the sky, also housed magic mirrors. Open the drawer, read the line and the mirror revealed the scene from the line you just read.
I LOVED that many of these books the kids had read AND way too many of these amazing booked have been banned - somewhere - but not in some back woods fascist country - but right here in the USA. The banned books were identified as such. This blatant stupidity irritates me to no end. How can we better understand you and the life you live that is different from my life if we can't walk a mile in your shoes? Sigh... I'm so proud of these kids who recognize exactly that!
We could have spent a couple more hours there - but we had a schedule to maintain so we headed out for a picnic in Franklin Park. Again we had light sprinkles but we found a table with an umbrella in this beautiful urban park and ate our lunch while we discussed Planet Word. The kids were just glowing from the experience and my heart was full.
After lunch we Uber-ed to Georgetown and the Washington Harbor to have a short cruise on the Potomac River. We really enjoyed our driver as he talked about all the things he notices that give him info that we may not even notice. For example in the city, if there are street lights, the speed limit is 25 mph: No street lights, 35 mph. He had lots of information and was very entertaining. He, a 20 year cabdriver from NYC, was proud to tell us that his kids had come to DC to attend college and after graduation had opted to stay . 10 years ago he and had wife had moved here too
The rain was gone and we enjoyed the cruise in sunshine and gentle breezes. It was great to see so many of the places we will be visiting from a different perspective. Below is Katelyn and the Kennedy Center where we will stand on the balcony overlooking the Potomac River, Thursday night.
The Kennedy Center is right next door to Watergate - FYI - so we were able to talk about that too and how the law SHOULD apply to everyone, even the rich, famous and powerful. EVERYONE!!
The photo below is THE water gate that gave the building its name - FYI. A water gate is a man-made waterway that prevents flooding an/or regulates the depth of another man-made water way, in this case the C&O canal. The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal stretches 184.5 miles from Georgetown to Cumberland, MD.Â
The heat inched up and the sun grew hotter and we opted for a break after the cruise so we Uber-ed back to our condo. Next up was a trip to the Smithsonian American Arts Museum and dinner in China Town. We all enjoyed our little rest and with the museum being open until 7:00 PM we had plenty of time. We did some prep for tomorrow and the kids wrote a postcard about their adventures. At 4:45 we headed out again by Metro.
The kids could get ANYWHERE in the city by Metro. We are giving them the destination and then they plot the course. We popped up right beside our destination and headed to the Presidential Gallery. We had a grand time, talking about what we knew about this guy and that guy. Which guy we wouldn't recognized and some of the great things different guys had accomplished. You see I'm using the word "GUY" because everyone of the US Presidents has been/still is male. I certainly HOPE that Katelyn and Sagan will live to see a female in that role. I hope I can too - but tick, tick, tick for me.
We had to wait patiently to get this pic - while there was NO line for pictures of the guy behind Obama.
Katelyn was quick to stand beside one of her heroines too. (Mine too - FYI)
I was very proud of our kids as they pointed out protraits of Marian Anderson, John Lewis, the Tuskegee Airmen and many other African Americans who have made the country great.
We closed the place down and then headed to China Town where the kids got a look at the seamy side of life. In China Town we walked by MANY groups of people using drugs. Marijuana, crack and I'm not sure what else - but they were all stoned, dirty and simply propped up against a wall. It wasn't a great scene, but it gave me a good opportunity to talk about it. Katelyn was appalled by the fact that there were two policemen standing just a few feet away - but they were. Anyway educational opportunities abound and while this was not listed as an objective for this trip - here it was.
We continued on to this little hole-in-the wall place and had some of the best food ever!! Well - Daphne didn't really love her food - but 3 out 4 thought it was fabulous food.
On the way home we had a hilarious thing happen when while heading to the Metro - Sagan said, "Why are the back of my pants wet?" Then we saw the water pouring out of his bag - POURING! We stopped and he opened his bag, took out the almost empty water bottle and handed me his umbrella that was FULL of water. It holds a LOT of water!!! Then he poured his bag out - which caused all of us to start laughing and laughing and laughing. He is pouring the water out of his bag - I'm standing with a dripping umbrella and we are falling apart. We just couldn't stop laughing which has its own issues. Anyway - we gave the kids the key to the room and when we got to the street - they raced ahead. We were all still laughing like hyenas.
After we got settled, with the wettest umbrella in the world set up to dry and the bag turned inside, we settled in to watch Part 1 of Apollo 13. It is a great movie but very worrisome...
Will they survive? We will find out on Monday..
Stay tuned...

⧠AU: x Taehyung || Friends to Lovers (Lowkey slow-burn)
You felt distressed, caught up in your own emotions and confused by your over-thought thoughts. Going through a rough patch as some would say, where everything felt hopeless and you found yourself scrolling pinterest till 1am looking for "angsty" core aesthetics to fit your new "vibe" of life. But it was easier said than done to dig yourself a hole when your best friend constantly stood by filling the hole back up as you dug in an attempt to stop you, help you and make you feel better, despite having his own issue to deal with... his crush on you.
||Â ANGST + SMUT | 11k | x reader | masterlist in bio ||
⧠Disclaimer: This is fiction. Actions and events in these stories are often exaggerated and to a certain degree unrealistic.  Please have this in consideration when reading fiction, especially if it includes sexual content.
⧠Rating: EXPLICIT || sexual content, unprotected sex || Warnings: mention of feeling hopeless, "deep reflection", (reader is troubled by something going on in their life but it's open for interpretation/unspecified)
⧠Smut features: Vanilla, desperate, first time together, unprotected, reassuring/concent asking/'checking in' (is this ok? Does it feel good?) top!Tae and a power outage.
How do you know when you've reached the complete state of hopelessness? Do people ever become 100% hopeless? You inhaled deeply and sighed it out. Gaze to the white ceiling, back on the bed and legs up against the wall. The tingle in your feet from the lack of circulation made them look somewhat less alive and feel cold. With a tilt of the hips you allowed your legs to slowly fall to the side, forming a new pose in the shape of a 90 degree angle on the bed and allowing for the less zombie-ish color to return to your feet. Hopelessness. Feeling like there is no point yet still stubbornly aching in the inner crevice of the head with a wish for there to be a chance for something else. A change, a plot twist a sudden eureka to make the entire world loose it's zombie color pallet and become lively and vibrant again. Hope. Or a wish for hope. It's probably some basic programming, like survival instinct, hope instinct. But at this point you didn't want to believe. You wanted to be grumpy, upset, frustrated. To curse society and curse what isn't fair and curse all the norms and expectations around you regardless of who made them up! Curse the media, curse the mold for perfect and the lip filler ads, curse the restrictions planted by your own beliefs and curse the cause of said belief! But feeling frustrated and angry is hard. Not only is it exhausting but it's the hardest emotion to let out fully and feel satisfied by after. If anything anger and frustration feels like a self-fueling fire that keeps burning more and more until you get exhausted and slump down on the bed with your legs up the wall. Crying would've been easier. You sat up, feeling a brief spin in the head due to your advanced modelling poses and reached for your water bottle. Water, Zen, calm rivers, refreshment, sound of clucking water in the harbor... rain. You turned towards your bedroom window at the sudden raging pattering sound outside. Even the sky needed to cry today. You reached for your phone, having it be faced down for the past hour or so after giving up on ranting about your dilemma to your friend. You had two types of friends. Those who were there for you when convenient and those who were there for you regardless. Taehyung was one of them. 3 missed calls. 15 texts- make that 16. A sting of guilt washed through realizing he must've been worried sick the past hour. Too exhausted to use your vocal chords you opened the text chat. Taehyung was the definition personified of a caring person. Sometimes to the extent where you'd question if it was more than anyone deserved. Did the world deserve Taehyung? You didn't make it through the second text before your doorbell rang followed by a loud bang. It sounded urgent... You got up from bed and slipped your feet into your white fluffy slippers and made your way to the front door of your apartment. You unhooked the clasp and unlocked your door to see one of the rainstorm's victims dripping water onto your doormat. Taehyung, Dressed in a green raincoat and hair clinging to his forehead and temples. His chest was rising unnaturally with his attempts to regain his breathe. "Tae-" He stepped in, an arm wrapping around your side and the other pressing your head to his wet shoulder. "If you didn't make me so worried... I would've removed my raincoat before hugging you." He squeezed. "See this as my revenge." His heart was beating fast. He pulled back after a few seconds, breathing stable and his red hands reaching to unbutton his raincoat. Did he not wear gloves? He pulled the door shut behind him and gently kicked off his boots. Apparently not. "I'll... go hang your raincoat in the bathroom for it to dry" you said, taking it from him. He was quick to address the elephant. "Why didn't you reply to my texts?" He followed behind you. "I... I left my phone to charge and I got distracted..." you made up, hanging his raincoat up in the shower. "I didn't come here to scold you, but when you tell me you're feeling hopeless, you get that it makes me worried right?" His voice was gentle and he looked at you with concerned eyes, stood in the door to the bathroom. Actually.... you didn't. Why would anyone worry... everyone seemed to always take it as nihilistic comedy or something and swat it away with something along the lines of "youâre just hungry" or the classic "are you on your period?" Maybe you were or maybe you weren't but why would that matter? Just thinking about it made you feel annoyed. As if any deep emotion only was caused by a period, it's just a period, why would anyone, let alone someone with a period themselves ask someone else that in a way that minimizes the reason they feel upset or angry or whatever emot- "Hey?" Taehyung pulled you back out from inside your head. "I don't know..." He crossed his arms over his chest and you knew that look far too well. "We'll talk about it, but right now, I'm here to make it better and take care of you. Did you eat?" You shook your head. "Great! Because I stopped by at the shop on my way... before the rain attacked me and picked up some stuff, including~" he said with an eager tone and walked towards the grocery bag you hadnât noticed until now. He picked it up and dug his hand in for something. "Du du du du" he sang dramatically and slowly pulled out the familiar dark blue packaging. The love of your life, the source of all things good. Chocolate. The good one! Not the weird orange wrapping one you hated, but the blue one, the holy blue one, your favorite one. "I remember your frustration when you saw the empty shelf of horror last week and it was restocked today so i picked up three just in case." "THREE?!" "Mhm!" He nodded proudly. You could cry, finally, but for other reasons. "TaeTae you're the best." You walked towards him, hugging him tight. He was the bestest of the best, the hero, the savior, chocolate delivery man. Oh what would life be without him. A blush spread across his cheeks. "You did it again." He said shyly "Hm? Did what?" "You called me TaeTae." "You don't like it?" "... I do." -- Taehyung had you stationed at the kitchen table while he cooked. With a focused gaze he scrolled on his phone, reading the next step for the recipe while stirring the pot. You were pretty sure he knew this recipe by heart now, he'd cooked it for you before and he should be confident in it but seemingly not enough yet to put the recipe down. The kitchen smelt amazing and you could feel your hunger cry out for whatever was simmering in the pot. Taehyung gently tapped the wooden spoon against the pot as he added another ingredient. "Are you going to tell me what happened?" He asked. That's where you'd left him hanging in your texts when exhaustion took over... "I just..." "Is it /that/ thing?" Taehyung asked, very much knowing of your source for distress already. "Kinda... but this time it feels different... Iâm not nervous or eager, I just felt like I was waiting and waiting and what if I waited so long for nothing and I.... it doesnât make sense but I just feel numb at this point and like I'm losing hope. Like every odd is set against me and I'm the only one dumb enough to still bet on myself." "And me. Except I'm not dumb, nor are you and I'll always bet on you. Always." Oh Taehyung... "Well, as your personal doctor and advisor and therapist and nurse, care-taker, comfort teddy and so on, I am going to prescribe you with some stuff." You chuckled. "Please go ahead." He placed a plate in front of you and another on the opposite end of the table. "Firstly, a good healing meal." "And youâve already done everything in your power right now, youâve been working hard. Maybetoohard." He mumbled under his breathe followed by a fake cough. "That said, let me distract you." "How?" "Well, some old school friends wanted to go out clubbing this weekend and-" "You don't like clubbing." "Hold on, let me get to the point. My suggestion is that you can come too, it wonât only be them. There will be the general club people too of course and I think most of them were bringing other friends or their girlfriends too so... it might be fun? If it sucks, we'll ditch and go to the midnight bowling place or noraebang, yes?" Maybe having some social interaction, an excuse to dress up and good music wasn't such a bad idea? The only thing bugging you was the potential mess there could be... and lately with your stressed mind you hadn't been the best at handling those environments, but after all this was just a club, with dancing people... it couldn't be that bad right? Bowling did sound fun too though... But you knew distraction and fun was what you probably needed. Maybe it wouldn't solve the issues but maybe it'd make it weigh less. The small distractions did a lot, a big one should do even more. "Sure." "Really?!" You could've sworn you just witnessed his ears wiggle from excitement. "I'll come." -- When Taehyung said "clubbing" you expected big flashy neon signs, a red rope and a guard and pulsing music coming from inside... not a giant base, a sax and a set-up of almost 4 different types of synthesizers. A jazz club. You should've known. The band was some sort of electro jazz fusion sprinkled with funk type band, as they introduced themselves as and they weren't bad, not at all. In fact this was a lot cozier than an uncomfortable packed nightclub. You just wish Taehyung told you so you could've worn your comfy flowy favorite dress rather than your tight little black one, wanting to fit in with the scene... Taehyung was dressed in black slacks, a green sweater and a brown coat that was hung over his chair, paired with his trademark assortment of bracelets on his wrist. Including the one you gave him for his birthday two years ago. He never took it off since the day he got it. It made you smile seeing it on his wrist. Taehyung's old school friends, the few you had managed to great during the evening were all really nice and most of them had their arm either around another or a hand held by another. You couldn't help but feel a little awkward, the questioning looks that didn't need to be vocal for you to understand. "Is this your girlfriend?" Taehyung just smiled, maybe playing it off was best... or did he just not notice the silent question? At first you expected a shrug or something but nope... "Would you like something more to drink?" Taehyung asked, leaning in so you'd hear him over the music and pointing towards your nearly empty glass. "I think I'm alright." "What?" "I'm ok." You leaned in closer. "Do you want to dance?" You and Taehyung were seated alone at one of the many tables as the majority were occupied dancing to the beats of the band and the rest drinking at other tables or mingling around. You had been up there at least twice, maybe even three times dancing the best you could and Taehyung always being by your side but your brain was starting to get a little drowsy. "I think I'm going to call it a night. But you can stay if you want." "No no, if you want to go home I'll come with you, let me walk you home." "I'll take a taxi its ok" "I insist." "So do I" the few drink he had had were enough to make his words braver and bolder. "It's late, I don't want you to go back alone regardless of if you take a taxi. I'll walk you." Fine. "Ok" Taehyung swept the remainder of his wine and grabbed his coat and waved some quick goodbyes. It was cold outside. Dark and empty... maybe it was good Taehyung insisted after all. He stumbled slightly, alarming you. Your hands instinctively reached for him and he giggled. "You only had two glasses I doubt you're drunk right now." "Maybe I wiwwle tipdie" he giggled, clearly acting up. "Does wiwwle tipdie Taehyung need help? Should I carry you on my back?" "No! I should be carrying you, do you have a blister on your heal from your shoes? Sore feet? Sore legs? Anything I can use as an excuse?" You laughed, patting him gently on the back. A cold breeze travelled through the street and you pulled your jacket tighter around you. "You're cold?" Taehyung asked "A little... my choice of dress wasn't the best." "I think you look beautiful." The sudden compliment caught you off guard. "... thanks." "Thanks? For what?" "The compliment" "I'm simply stating the facts." He said, looking to the side and slipping his hands into his pockets. "It sure is cold..." Why was it feeling awkward suddenly? Silence between the two of you would usually be comfortable... "Thanks for bringing me too." "Did you have fun?" He turned to face you again. "Yes, it was better than I expected." "I'm glad to hear that." "But letâs go bowling next time." "Sure!" He smiled widely. A source of warmth suddenly surrounded you and you looked up to see Taehyung's face turned away yet again but his arm resting around your shoulder, wrapping his coat around you and urging you closer into his side till your hips almost brushed against each other. The rest of the walk back home was a few minutes of silence, but luckily you didn't live far. "Home sweet home" "How will you get home?" You asked, concerned. "Ah..." he checked the time on his phone. "Well I've missed the last train... so unless I can find a taxi which so far I've seen none I'll have to sleep at the station." "No you're not, come, you can call a taxi from my place and at least wait inside instead of out in the cold." You said, grabbing his arm and pulling him with you through the entrance. "Nobody's picking up?" You asked Taehyung looked down at his phone with a confused look. "It keeps hanging up on me? I don't know if maybe their line is down or something?" "It would explain why we didn't see any on the walk back." "I guess so... so now what?" He looked up at you. "Guess you'll have to stay the night." He grinned. "Can't remember the last time we had a sleep-over" he chuckled and removed his coat. He was right, it must've been years ago... the last time you could remember was a movie night gone sleep over during winter when it had snowed so no traffic was able to move at all. You grabbed a spare cover and a pillow and handed it to Taehyung, sleepiness already present in his eyes. "Hey." Taehyung said, laying out the pillow and cover on your sofa. "If I have a nightmare can I come lay next to you?" He grinned. "If you have to." He replied with a puppy gaze. "Good night TaeTae." His eyes widened and he looked down at the couch. "... Good night." -- The question was when would you wake to the sound of birds chirping instead of the aggressive rasp of the snow plow dragging across the street? It almost sounded like it was more ir less plowing the asphalt off the earth rather than the snow. More irritating was that it just added to your unsatisfying sleep and rough awakening streak. One good morning was all you asked for... You sat up, slid off the edge of the bed and slipped into your slippers that were neatly set up by its side. A scratch of the head and an adjusting pull of the bun on your head and you headed to you first destination; tea. With heavy steps you dragged yourself out of your room and were met by the surprise you had forgotten was left on your couch from last night, sprawled across the sofa... in only boxers. Oh god. The covers were halfway on the floor, only covering his legs, barely. It was cold too but should you just ignore him... no, you couldn't... but what if you woke him up? He was only in boxers and you were already trying your best not to look but your brain had already registered that they were black and Calvins... please no more information... thigh muscles NO! Chest, focus on the chest. He was breathing, he was alive. Inhale, exhale. You carefully made your way towards him. His chest was toned... the type perfect to rest your head on NO! Messy hair... It really didn't help that your best friend was as attractive as he was. You bent down and carefully picked up the cover, pulling it back up over his upper body. He must've been really cold, his nipples- NO. You shook your head furiously to get rid of the thought. You turned around 180 degrees and marched to the kitchen. Tea. Tea. Tea. Tae. TEA! You could hear the covers rustle as he shifted, followed by a soft groan. Oh no... Please no. Although... why was it so dangerous for him to see you in your own home, making tea. I don't know! But regardless it felt like an action movie stealth scene for the grand heist judging by your heart beat. The boiler was too loud, the accidental clink of the mug as you set it to the counter too, the rip of packaging of the tea bag, the wind whistling outside! Sweat? You were sweating, stress consuming you yet again over the moist pointless little thi- "Hey?" The tea cup smashed against the kitchen floor along with your gasp and you grabbed the door handle of the kitchen cupboard for support. Taehyung starred at you with wide startled eyes. Maybe your screech scared him as much as his sudden presence scared you. "Sorry." He chuckled, voice so deep and raspy you could practically feel his vocal chords vibrate. Your heart was pounding hard. Could he at least have been swaddled in the covers and not in his boxers right now... You diverted your eyes to the porcelain shards across the floor. "Wait wait wait!" Taehyung yelped, holding his hand out to stop you from moving. But it was too late. The dark kitchen along with your giddiness had of course resulted in the unfortunate miss step. You sighed, lifting your foot from the chard as you felt something wet trickle down your foot. Taehyung quickly reached to turn the lights on, the bright shine blinding both of you briefly and making the view of him even clearer. "Stay there." Taehyung ordered. Your kitchen was pretty small so there wasn't much space to move without risking another wrong step. A cup of tea and now all this. You slapped your arms to your sides in a deep pout. Making a new cup now just felt wrong but you craved a cup so bad and it was cold... the floor was cold, you were cold... and not to mention everything hanging in form of heavy weights on your shoulders and chilling on top of the imaginary storm cloud above you right now. It's like your issues were mocking you and just making everything worse. Maybe the issue was that you related to the once-was intact mug. You felt split and unorganized, all over the place and dependent on things you knew you shouldnât be depending your hope and happiness on but yet day after day youâd lose yourself in a visualization of a scenario of perfection were everything would be ok until again the door was slammed in your face and you had to start all over again. No matter how many times you felt like this time would be different and this time you were ready, this time it'd all go your way because the past was forgiven and your time wasnât right but again and again .... Your patience was running out. You sniffed, wiping the tears from your cheeks with the back of your hand. Taehyung came back holding a broom and a dust pan when he saw your face of tears. "No..." he sounded panicked. He leaned down quickly sweeping the chards to the side of the kitchen and tossing the broom and pan into the pile so he could approach you. Strong lean arms embarrassed you like out of a 6 different angles k-drama scene. A hand found its place on the back of your head, softly petting you as the other pressed you closer to his warm chest. Never had you expected that hugging Taehyung would feel this safe. May it be because he was the one you could be truly vulnerable with or that he was the one that knew what was going on right now, but whatever he did... he did it just right. "You don't need to say anything." He whispered. "I know." He squeezed you a little firmer. "I know." He reassured. "Sssh" his hand felt so gentle as it caressed you. "It's going to be ok." He felt so warm. "I'm here." His skin felt so soft against your hands. "I'm not going anywhere." Your heart calmed down. Taehyung didn't pull away until you became silent and your breathing stable. But even then he didn't pull away completely, only enough to look at your face and caress his thumbs under each eye gently. "I'll reheat the water for you." He smiled softly and reached for the switch on the kettle. You didn't want to let go, not just yet. But he slipped away carefully and kneeled to sweep up the shards and discarded the pieces into the bin. He briefly disappeared and came back holding his sweater, arms slipped in and pulling it over his head as he entered, causing his shoulders to naturally flex slightly as he slipped it on. He grabbed two mugs from the cupboard, added a bag in each and filled them with the hot water. You tugged and fidgeted at your sleeve as you watched, feeling unusually shy in his presence. "Come, letâs sit on the sofa" Taehyung said and grabbed a mug in each hand but quickly came to a halt. "Your foot!" You had forgotten about it too. He placed the mugs back down and watched you as you lifted to check the cut. "Fuck." Taehyung said and quickly ripped a piece of kitchen towel off and handed it to you. Holding one hand against the fridge for support and the other wiping the smeared mess on your foot you watched as Taehyung quickly disappeared and reappeared again with your med kit. "Does it hurt?" He asked, rummaging through the kit. "No, it just stings a little." He pulled out some disinfectant solution and eyes you quickly up and down. Before you knew it he was stood in front of you, kneeling slightly as you felt his large hand grab a hold behind your thigh and his arm scooped you up on him. Your heart was back to its rapid pace again. He set you down on the sofa carefully and went back to grab the disinfectant and the tea mugs. He sat on the floor in front of you, soaking a cotton pad with the solution and gentle pulling your foot towards him by the ankle. "Ah, thanks goodness it doesn't seem to be deep." He said with relief, gently dabbing the cotton pad to the wound. It stung a little but it wasn't too bad. "All nice and clean, do you have cute band-aids?" "Only boring plain ones I'm afraid." Taehyung scrunched his nose. "Boo." With a band-aid beneath your foot and your longed for tea in your hands you sat next to him on the sofa. "An eventful morning." "I should become your fulltime caretaker at this point." Taehyung joked. "Not that I'd mind." "Will you pay me?" He raised his brows as well as the mug to his lips. "No way." You smiled. "Charity work is good for karma." "I already have good karma!" Taehyung protested, pretending to be offended. He laughed that trademark warm laugh that was like a smooth cackle that somehow always triggered a little firework to go off in your chest. You smiled, looking into your mug as if it'd tell you a fortune. ... you swallowed and looked up. In winter the sun rose late and had begun its voyage above the horizon, painting the sky a bright warm orange tone as it shined in through the window behind Taehyung. No. You didn't have feelings for him. You just felt some post-event shakiness and nerves and for the matter of a fact you finally got your much needed cry. It must just be your chest feeling lighter thanks to the cry. "So, do you have any planes today?" Taehyung asked. "I don't even know what day it is." "Good, I don't have plans either and it's Saturday for your information. But I do have a potential plan and that is, since I'm already here, to spend the day with you unless you have important to do's, which you shouldn't, because you need a break." He whispered towards the end. "A fmnn break." He repeated, biting his lip on the word to censor himself, but he got his point across. "A break would be nice... but when I try, I feel distressed as if I shouldn't be doing it because I'm wasting my time. I need-" "A distraction" Taehyung filled in. You nodded. "Then thou shall sit here and watch my live-in-action cooking show live from your kitchen." He said cheerfully, slapping his hands to his thighs as he stood up. "Do you have strawberries?" He asked. "In the freezer." "Yes!" He made his way to the kitchen, worth to mention is the open floor plan of your apartment so you could see him well enough from where you were seated. The soft messy curls on his head bounced with him as he walked. He dramatically pointed at you with a spatula in his hand. "Welcome." He said, speaking deeply into the spatula. "The pancake and strawberry smoothie extravaganza extraordinaire show with your host." He point his thumb and index under his chin. "Kim Taehyung." His goofiness never failed to bring a smile to your face. He went to grab his phone on the sofa table. "I need background music...." he hummed as he scrolled, spatula still in his other hand. "Jeopardy music 10 hours?" He looked up at you for an opinion. "Please no." He giggled and a calm upbeat song started playing from him phone as he put it back down and resorted to the kitchen. While frying up the first batch he was spaced out, humming on the theme tune to jeopardy anyway. You had made yourself comfortable on the sofa, lying down. The sofa smelt like him now. The same sweet comforting scent as the hug had... and his coat the numerous times he'd wrapped it around you when it was cold or shielded you from the rain with it. But speaking of memory, thinking back at those often occurring times you were also reminded about how a previous "friend" used to try and provoke you into being nervous and shy in Taehyung's presence. You'd been close for years and maybe she had an issue with that or something but she'd always find ways to tease you in way. Claiming Taehyung was giving you "looks" or "checking you out" in ways she as a self-declared expert in men deemed were of more than friendly nature. And since she as expert of men by that likely thought all men were the same, proves how reliable of a source she was. Taehyung he just.... you were close. She just wanted to make you feel embarrassed and self-conscious and make it awkward between you. You hated thinking about that. It made you overthink and feel awkward. Like an evil loop. You looked up at the breakfast chef, catching his eye as he quickly looked back down to the pancakes. You could get used to this view. Handsome man in boxers and sweater making you pancakes when youâre feeling blue, the headline in your head spelled out. The Zen experience of the kitchen fan being turned off brought stillness and Taehyung emerges with a plate of pancakes, disappearing and re-appearing again after denying your offer to help with the strawberry smoothies, plates, forks, knifes and every suitable pancake topping he had been able to locate in your kitchen. And a tube of mustard as a joke that you only kept in your fridge for when your dad came over to dinner and his weird obsession with having mustard on everything. It was probably even expired. "Enjoy your meal." "You're my hero Taehyung." You said, stabbing a pancake. "I can be your hero baby." You froze. "What?" "Haven't you heard that song?" He smiled. Oh.. "Hero? By Enrique Iglesias?" "Ah, now that you mention it-" "With the weird music video were goes on this road trip with the girl and then he's suddenly rubbing money over her body in this random stone house." "Is this what you binge on youtube at 2am when I wake up to 15 links and emotional texts." "Do not judge me!" You giggled. "I'm not, I like waking up to those texts from you. You sent them to me for a reason." Taehyung smiled shyly. "Yeah... anyhow! I have a suggestion, a proposal, a-" "Go on" "Since I'm your hero, but even I weren't. I thought maybe I could stay here a few days? Only if you want me to, of course. I just-" he became shyer. "I like to think that you seem to feel better when I'm around and you're going through a rough time so I'd like to be there for you, like you are for me." Your heart made its presence in your chest known yet again. "You should think.... because it's true." "So?" "It'd be nice." He smiled widely. "Great! But I do need to go home and pack some clothes and... some pajamas and Yeontan! He is a great comforter trust me, he has cheered me up many times when I've cried." "Cried? What were you crying about?" "Oh- uhm it's nothing, it's ok now so." He swatted it away. "Boys cry too." He joked, but it tasted weird. "But he's staying with my parents this weekend, but if you want I can go pick him up." He suggested. "It's ok, he needs time with his grandparent." Taehyung chuckled. "Well they love their grandson so I'm sure they wouldn't mind having him stay an extra day or two." -- You couldn't help but feel bad that Taehyung had to sleep on the sofa... His bag with clothes and necessities was placed in the hallway and the covers neatly hung over the backrest. "We could take turns and sleep in the bed every other day." "I told you it was fine." Taehyung insisted, again. "I just feel bad..." "Then letâs both sleep in your bed and call it even." "...." your cheeks felt hot. "See, so I'll sleep on the sofa. Don't worry about it!" What does he mean "see"? ... you were simply imagining what excuse to use as to how your head would coincidentally end up on his chest instead of your pillow. "Or we'll both sleep on the sofa, but it might be a bit cramped." He continued. "Maybe this was a bad idea..." "Hey no! No, I'm just joking. Don't feel bad ok." Taehyung's hands smoothed down your arms. "Beds are better at healing wounds on the feet too." You exhaled deeply. "Oh TaeTae..." "Doesn't this feel like we're having a pajama party or sleep over?" He smiled. "Kinda, should we build a blanket fort and watch movies?" His mouth dropped open. "I'm just kidding!" You laughed He pouted. "Oh you want to?" A nod. "You want to build a fort and watch movies?" You asked with more excitement. More enthusiastic nodding. You both cracked up laughing on the sofa together. "I'm serious though." Taehyung grinned. -- You lied awake in your bed, eyes to the ceiling. For some wild reason you both thought it would be a great idea to binge through the entire twilight saga series as a source of comedy but you only made it up to half-way through eclipse when it became too much to handle for both of you. The first movie was easy to mock and laugh at and make fun out if but once it got more serious and romantic in new moon it started getting a little awkward. To say the least, feeling flustered from watching twilight but not due to the movie itself but from the presence of Taehyung right next to you in your make-shift sofa blanket fort. You couldn't stop thinking about him. And he was out there... on your sofa, right now. And who knew if he was in cute polka dot pajamas with his hair a mess on the pillow or his tight fitted boxers and his hair tied up.. You bit your lip, crossing your legs at the visual. You remembered the first time you witnessed Taehyung tie his hair up and how it felt like being punched in the gut. It's not possible to be that attractive. "Then aren't you attracted to him?" The voice echoed in your head. Just because you find someone attractive doesn't mean you're attracted to them! Which is very much true. But Taehyung's personality was attractive too which was harder to justify the same way. And his person. And him. The entire package. You sighed. Maybe the stupidest thing you could do right now was reach for your phone and google "do I have feelings for my best friend?" Ah yes. A quiz. Maybe it wasn't so stupid after all, it'd say maybe you like him but you're not into him at the very most. Question 1, do you find them attractive. Well who wouldn't? And like mentioned it doesn't mean you're attracted to him. Yes. Question 2, do they like you? Pfft... what kind of question is that? How would you know? I don't know... or yes I guess? I mean he clearly likes you as a friend or he wouldn't be up to making all this effort for you but do they mean platonically? You ticked maybe. Question 3, Do you stalk them on social media? What the??? He's your best friend! The algorhythm shoves his posts in your face weather you like it or not. Sometimes. Question 4, Do you see them a lot? Yes. Question 5, Do you want to know more about them? You already know everything ... but what he cries about to Yeontan is something. Yes. Question 6, when you see them with somebody else who isn't considered their friend, how do you feel? Jealous. Question 7, when they're around you how do you feel? Nervous or self-conscious or nothing or i donât know... well nervous AND a little self-conscious depending on the situation and if he's dressed or in just his boxers. Nervous. Question 8, Do you think about them? Yes. Always. Question 9, Do you laugh at their jokes? Another weird one but yes. Question 10, are they your ex? Huh? No. Definitely. A lot. You placed your phone screen down on your chest and let out a sigh. Maybe visualizing a kiss or two while in the shower was a crime after all... or was the question why were you in the first place? He was amazing in every type of way and you wanted to know if he was amazing at kissing too andmaybeinbed but you can't just ask him that or try it out, so you had to resort to imagination.... Who were you even trying to convince at this point? You liked him. Definitely. And a lot. The realization did nothing to help you fall asleep unfortunately. Another 15 minutes in dark silence passed when you suddenly heard the floorboards squeak. Maybe Taehyung was going to the bathroom or grabbing a glass of water... But the soft pats of his feet should've stopped by now... Your half open door pushed open a bit more shyly and Taehyung peaked in. Dressed in pajama bottoms, but no shirt. "You're awake." He said, whispering. "So are you." "I can't sleep..." he rubbed his arm. "I feel lonely." As if you'd deny him looking all shy and vulnerable in your door. You scooted to the side in your bed, making raise his brows in hope and anticipation, fingers fidgeting. "Come." You said, patting the bed next to you. The bed dipped gently as he lied down and you put the covers over him. He shifted onto his side, placing his head on your pillow. This was better. But since you just took an online quiz to realize you had feelings for this man currently shirtless in your bed, you couldnât help but feel incredibly awkward. "How come you're feeling lonely?" You asked, trying to conceal your stiffness "To a start I sleep better when I get to hold something." He said shyly "Who?" You asked, intending for it to be a thought. "When I'm at home, Yeontan." Of course... "He lays on the bed and I feel less lonely and hearing him walk around or do something makes me feel soothed knowing I'm not alone... for the most part." "Are the tears you cry... tears of loneliness?" You could tell it triggered something in him. He bit his lip and nodded gently, eyes glossy. "For the most part it's just me and a pillow." He confessed. "But you could say-... it's something like that, yes." Face to face, mere inches apart. You thanked the darkness of the room that he couldn't see you blush right now but unreasonable fear that he'd somehow "sense" it in the atmosphere still worried you. You shouldn't have taken that stupid quiz it only made you start overthinking and it was probably rigged and the questions were weird so why should you listen to it? Get back to your senses! He's your best friend and you're comfortable with him! Calm down! "... I know it's dumb" Taehyung mumbled. "I know it seems like I'm this easy-going social butterfly with lots of friends who can find someone to hang out with within seconds... but when I'm alone at home, I just feel so empty. Like if nobody sees me, I don't exist. Thus when I'm alone, I'm not real anymore." "That's very philosophical, but what if someone thinks about you while you are alone? Then wouldn't you exist since somebody has you on their mind?" "But it'd be impossible for me to know and people have better things to do than walk around and daydream about me." It stung a little inside hearing him say this. "People are actually capable of multitasking you see, they can do these better things you speak of and think about you at the same time. I think about you a lot, sometimes I think about you while doing the laundry, riding the bus or taking a show- that sound's wrong." Taehyung chuckled. "But you get what I mean." "What do you mean?" He asked "That I think about you and that you aren't alone TaeTae, you never are. If you're ever feeling lonely, maybe think about me. If that helps. Or get to know yourself more, become your own friend or create an imaginary friend!" "I already do that." "Have an imaginary friend?" "Think about you." Oh. "... does it help?" You asked shyly. He shook his head. "It just makes me miss you and want to come to see you." Is it possible to experience a softer heart attack than you just did? Rather than a heart exploding in saw gore-level mess it gently poofed and became a small cloud of red feathers gently falling to the ground. Since when had you become a softie? Two hours ago you were all if there's no sex in the romance novel, it's not worth my time but now you suddenly felt an urge to ransack the romance section of the nearest library to read every cheesy romance story you could find until you could find one similar to your own. Your... own? What? With... with Taehyung? ... not that youâd visualize every male lead character as coincidentally similar to him regardless of how their looks were described in the book.... "Maybe I do need to spend some time with myself to get over it..." No! Stay here with me! "I can spend more time with you." Taehyung looked up. "I think that could benefit us both." He sounded more hopeful now. "Well, you're already here so it's also convenient." Despite the darkness you could make out the smile on his face that appeared. Cute. But wait... did Taehyung suggest he could stay here for you, because he felt lonely? He shifted slightly and the sheets rustled. His leg accidently brushed against yours and your first thought was to tangle your legs with his in a leg tackle war... but you still felt too on edge to act casual and playful with him like you normally could. You swallowed. "How long have you felt this way?" "A while... a long while. At first it was nothing but then it got worse and even more worse when I realized this one thing." "What thing was that if I may ask?" He sighed. "It's hard to explain... but, say a friend." "Mhm?" "A friend feels kinda lost, existentialism and stuff going on, doesn't like to be by himself, then he finds this person and they make him forget it all but once theyâre apart it all returns to him again like they were his escape but only for as long as they were together." "Is that only with that one person or all?" "No no, only that person. And then he realizes he might be in love, or he's addicted to the person in a way, but in a good way not an obsessive way just-" "In love?" "Something like that." "You're in love?" "Huh?! What no! This was about a friend! I'm not talking about me!" "Then what did you realize Taehyung?" You could tell his mind briefly blanked in panic. "I realized that maybe I, as said friend need to find that person for me." "A person?" He nodded shyly. "You want to fall in love?" "I don't know... something like that." 'Something like that' seemed to be his catchphrase this evening. But in love? A person? His person?... that couldn't be you... could it? Did he want you to be his person? Were you his person?? The questions and confusion kept spiraling through your head, (finally) making you feel tired and exhausted. "I think... I just want to tend to someone else than myself, to not have to think so much about it and instead take care of somebody else." "Is that why you offered to stay?" "Yes and no, I want to take care of you because I am genuinely concerned and worried about you, I want to be there for you. But also, sleeping on the couch last night, hearing you tiptoe around the kitchen... it made me feel comforted." His voice sounded drowsy. "If you want... I can be your person in this scenario." You suggested. "You've already become.. person." He mumbled, sinking deeper into his half-awake state. -- You stretched your leg out one at the time, twisting your body gently and inhaling deeply into a stretch, gently batting your eyes open. You pushed a palm against the bed to get up into a seated position when something suddenly restrained you, heavy over your abdomen. Surprised, you raised the sheet to see the reminder of what you had forgotten last night. Over your waist, a lean arm with faint thin dark hairs and a few subtle veins travelling up the forearm from the large hand clung to the side of your waist... all attached to the source of warmth to your left, Taehyung. His dark locks a mess on the pillow, his bare upper body now fully on display in the daylight and his polka dot pajama pants haven travelled down a bit too far low for your sanity... Cursed be the eyes in your skull for travelling down the view. You would've noticed it sooner or later regardless, especially since your thigh was a hair between touching it. It, being the weird relief of knowing he got some deep relaxing sleep in... but with an awkward morning surprise... and his arm wouldn't grant you freedom without you accidentally or intentionally having to wake him up. You carefully shifted to at least have your thighs at a safer distance, but your bed wasn't intended for two people, so it was easier said than done. His grip suddenly tightened and a low groan escaped him as he shifted. Why did you feel fear as if you shouldnât be present in your bed in which he entered himself. If anyone Taehyung should be the one fearing his life right now. His thumb caressed your side gently and it felt nice... soothing. Until his eyes suddenly opened wide with a soft gasp as you felt his morning hard on grace against your thigh. Eyes that pleaded and begged you didn't notice pierced into yours and you decided to play along. "Did you sleep well?" His hand quickly retreated to your disappointment. "Sorry i... I did it in my sleep it wasn't-" "It's ok, you said you sleep well holding something and being held didn't feel too bad..." "Well, in that case, I actually slept better than I have in a really long time." He said, voice raspy and deep still. He rolled onto his back, thankfully, and placed his hand behind his head. "Did you?" "Huh?" "Did you sleep well?" "In fact, I did." You said, answering truthfully and resisting the urge to put your head on his bare chest. If only the lord or whoever would stop testing me... "Hungry?" He asked. You nodded. "Great, I'll fix something ok, but close your eyes." "Why?" "I'm shirtless." ... right. You covered your eyes with your hands and the warmth left your side as he got up and escaped the room. You slowly got up, trying to win some time for him but a few brief seconds later heard the sound of the bathroom door down the hall closing and locking. Yikes. That went smoother than expected. You set up some tea, knowing Taehyung described coffee as the closest to unlethal poison you could find, you knew he'd prefer tea or hot chocolate and that there was no use to ask. You knew him too well. It was nice having him here. And waking up with a strong arm around your waist wasn't too bad either... if only you could've let yourself enjoy the moment instead of freaking out, what if he grew cautious now and you'd never experience it again? You sighed softly, grabbing two mugs from the cupboard. After a while, the kettle clicked and you poured some water into each mug. It had been a while now... ... was he meditating in there? There was no sound of the shower, or anything, not that you were listening. Would it be weird if you asked if he was ok? Since the kettle was off the entire apartment became significantly more silent. You heard a faint mumble. "Fuck..." You swallowed. Ear please momentarily turn off, mind and imagination too please. You reached to put the kettle back on but since the water was already hot it clicked off again after 5 seconds. The bathroom door opened and you braced yourself to not look down. Luckily, he was now wearing his oversized sweater or else you would've failed immediately. He let out a soft chuckle. "I spaced out." His cheeks were flushed red and glowing. Right. "I made you some tea." -- Why were deep topics always easier to talk about at night? Were people like clams? You wake up and it opens a little and once we hit the night the clam is fully open and then closes during sleep to a new no-talk-me-I-not-have-tea-yet to ask-me-about-how-i-view-existentialism cycle? Or were nights just vulnerable with the darkness? In that case you should metaphorically speaking be an open clam all day during winter when the sun goes into its own hibernation. But here you were again, just like last night, except... 20 minutes into the sudden power outage that made your impromptu movie night come to a halt. And it was getting really cold. Bundled up under a cover together, staring at the flicker of the candle on the coffee table in silence. "I was going to offer to make you tea to warm you up but the kettle..." Taehyung said with a soft chuckle. "The power will probably come back any moment soon." He said optimistically. As you looked out of the window earlier, you noticed it wasn't just your place, but the entire block seemed to have an outage. Unusual. But the current roaring rain storm outside likely had something to do with it. The wind was aggressive, the windows shook, it whistled in a creepy way and the trees outside rustled loudly. "How about we play a game?" Taehyung suddenly suggested, breaking off the silence again. He was feeling awkward, you could tell. He always rested his hands in his lap, fidgeting or poking at the cuticles of his nails when he felt awkward. "Sure, what should we play?" His face lit up. "Questions and answers? I can start!" "Shoot!" You folded your legs and shifted to face him on the couch. "What's your ideal type." ... he... immediately went there. "Looks or personality?" Taehyung shrugged. "Both." "Well it depends on the vibe they give off of course... and mainly. I guess tall, but it's not that important, wide shoulders are always nice." You paused to think, how can I describe Taehyung without it sounding like I'm describing Taehyung. "Funny, caring, optimistic, outgoing..." "Like me!" He smiled widely. You leaned back, squinting while caressing your chin, examining him playfully. "Hmmmn" He placed his hands under his jaw, like he was displaying his face and batted his eyelashes. "Not bad, not bad." He looked disappointed. "Just not bad?" You playfully nudged his arm. "It's your turn to answer. "Fine." He pouted, crossing his arms over his chest but cracking a giggle. "I'll ask you the same question." "Very original, you." "It's called recycling, so tell me." "I did." "Huh?" "You." Your heart froze briefly before beginning to pound. "Me?" "Mn!" He said confidently. "You're not bad" he mocked. You swallowed. "I have a question about the rules." "Go on" "If I ask you anything, do you have to tell the truth?" "Yes! Nothing but. So you better tell me what you actually think rather than 'not bad'" "Is the friend you talked about actually you? And am I the person?" He tensed up, swallowing. "I guess it was obvious..." he mumbled, rubbing his arm and looking down at his lap. "I just..." he began, but reluctance interrupted him. "I understand." You said. He looked up, seemingly surprised yet still tensed "I make you feel less lonely." He nodded slowly. "Which makes sense. After all we're best friends." You continued. "... right." He looked away. "Best friends." Taehyung reached up to move his hair away from his eyes, still facing down as if he was considering something. "So... what do you think of me?" His voice sounded more serious. Where to start of course he was gorgeous! Wide shoulders, a build you'd die to slide your hands down, dark big eyes, a sweet smile with plump lips, sculpted perfectly and his honey skin. Person wise... he was someone you'd want to have as your person. "A nice person" He scoffed. "Seriously?" He seemed upset. He finally looked up, meeting your gaze. There was a sparkle in his eye. The warm light from the candle made his face glow even more. "I mean person as in the person you have, a your-person" "A nice your-person?" He tilted his head. "You told me yesterday in bed that you can feel like someone is your person because they bring you comfort and make all your problems go away and you feel better just by being in their presence! A nice that-type-of-person." "But I was talking about you!" He pleaded "And now I'm talking about you." "You are my person, what do you mean?" He asked, placing emphasis on "my" "That you're my person too. Am I being unclear?" "No, not at all. I just wanted to hear you say it." "So you tricked me?" You scoffed. "Not really." He leaned closer. "But maybe I set you up and you simply walked into my trap." "So now what? We're just going to sit here in denial over the fact that we both admitted to being each other's person?" You questioned, feeling slightly panicky and picking at your nails. Was this platonic or not? "We don't have to" he grinned. "But to be clear, I'm not talking about you being my person as in my other half, my best friend type person, even though you are that too bit this isn't it." "Are you trying to tell me that you're in love with me?" He tensed up again. Fuck it. "Then just say it, stop confusing me with your riddles and metaphors and I won't do the same. Just tell me-" His hand pressed against the back of your head as he leaned in almost all the way. He caressed the back of your head gently and your gaze dropped to his soft pink lips with the tiny freckle to the side. You leaned in close enough to brush a gentle touch before Taehyung pressed you closer for your lips to finally collide. It started off desperate yet a little shy. You pressed back, grabbing at his sides and the kiss deepened. Your heart was pounding. Never did you expect he'd just go for it and kiss you when you showed some bold courage towards him but you didnât have a slightest regret because he tasted so good against your mouth. His plump pink lips so passionate, so needy but also so gentle and triggering an explosion in your chest. Taehyung leaned over you, making you lay down on the couch as he crawled on top and it turned into an even wilder heated make out. Your hand tangled into his hair, his hand rubbed against the side of your waist under your top. Fearing it'd be the first, last and only, you wanted every single piece of this moment you could have. Unintentional, his touch triggered a soft moan to escape your throat, which subsequently triggered a groan from Taehyung. Making a sound like that with his voice should be illegal. It did things to you, things you didn't want to confess. But the box of secret confessions was torn open within seconds as Taehyung, a heavy breathing mess suddenly pulled away from your lips and landed by your ear, exhaling deeply. "Fuck, I'm hard." He groaned and you knew the box was flying out the windows with your filthy confession floating aimlessly around for him to hear but all you managed to stutter out was a choked "huh?" "If you knew how long I've wanted you for." He whispered. "How scared I've been of being rejected because I knew it'd shatter me." The hopeless romantic you knew he was made his attendance known. "A friend?" You chuckled. "Maybe I set myself up with that one, I admit. But I was hoping you'd catch on." He chuckled, still breathless. He planted a kiss against your neck. Were you about to have sex? Would it lead to that? Did you mind? Certainly not... Taehyung pushed up slightly, looking down at you. "May I?" You nodded and he smiled widely, pressing a kiss to your lips. Shifting, he easily found his place between your thighs and grinded up against you slowly with pressure, causing both of you to exhale into a sweet needy moan. Your feelings felt scattered all over the place but this wasn't the time to pick them up. You wanted to let go, to surrender, just for this moment. Let go of everything clawing at your back, clouding the sunny skies and draining you. There is nothing more exhausting than smiling pretending everything is ok while whatever inflated issue in beast form is clawing its nails across your back and the scars sting like lemon juice was just rubbed all over you, feeling disgusting and sticky, let alone in pain and with a sore back from the held tension. He grinded again, sensually this time as the tip of his nose travelled up your neck, inhaling your sweet scent. "Mmm" he hummed softly. Your hand made its way to his nape as he settled by your neck. "I could fall asleep here." He chuckled. "Right here in your neck, it's so warm and smells so nice. It's more effective than lavender." "Are you enchanted by my odor?" He laughed his trademark bubble laugh. "I wish you knew how much fun you are." He squeezed you, rubbing up firmer to you with a desperate grunt. "Fuck I can't take it anymore." He stood on his knees, crossing his arms in front of him and grabbing the hem of his sweater, pulling it up and off, exposing his soft skin and toned chest as it fell to the floor. His hand reached for the button on his pants but before making it to the zipper his attention returned back to you with his hands sliding up under your top and pulling it up over your head. "I just want to make sure again... is it ok?" He asked, eyes big. "Yes, touch me, kiss me, do whatever you want just donât leave the couch. At least not without me." He smirked at this, finally able to surrender to his greed. Taehyung reached for the waistline of your pants, unbuttoning, unzipping and pulling them down your hips with your underwear going off with them. His fingers softly rakes over your skin as he travelled down your legs, your hips lifted to assist him and then they were tossed onto the floor. He reached for his own zipper again but you sat up, quickly swatting his hand away and reaching for it yourself. He was on his knees between your thighs. You pulled them down, sliding your hands over his soft curved hips, revealing his tight fitted boxers with little to any space left for his hard on. You swallowed. He blushed. Relieved that Taehyung took over the lead again you lied back down as his hands gently pushed you back, slipping the bra straps off your shoulders and reaching behind you to unhook and free you from your final piece of clothing. But with this one he wasn't in a rush. He slowly tugged at the lacey fabric, revealing your chest to him as he bit his lip. "Wow." He mumbled and his patience was gone. One hand grabbed your left boob, feeling it and squeezing it softly as the other slipped into his boxer to touch himself. He whimpered, seemingly trembling as a result of his desperation and the discomfort he must be feeling in those tight pair of... he let go of your boob, quickly pulling his boxers down and himself out. You felt your core twist and ache and his boxers joined the pile of clothes on the floor. Taehyung fell forward onto all fours on top of you. Fully exposed, fully erect and a full sight to take in in the dim light in the dark. Distracted and eyes travelling all over him, his hand suddenly cupped your chin, tilting it up for you to face him. His nose graced over yours in a sweet eskimo kiss before his lips, just as gently pressed to yours. Taehyung's hand slid down your neck, your chest and down until he found himself. Your toes curled as you felt his touch where you wanted him the most in this moment, the tip of him slowly sliding up and down your slit, triggering your need even more. Taehyung let out a shaky exhale. His lips were parted and eyes staring right down at your exposed curves. He positioned himself, slowly sliding the tip in, just to feel... just to get some urgent relief... he leaned his head back and his hands landed a tight grip of your waist. He couldn't take it anymore. Slowly and carefully he began to push. Making sure by studying your every expression that he wasn't hurting you and that it felt good. A sweet whimper escaped you, causing him to grin in delight as he pushed in deeper. He was thick... the gentle stretch he caused felt amazing and you couldn't stop yourself from clenching around him, making him moan and managing to make you even wetter just by the sound. With a soft grunt he slipped in all the way. Giving you a moment to adjust to his size, he moved his hand up to caress your cheek with the back of his hand. His touch felt like magic. Like a gentle feather smoothing over your cheek, but slender and strong, with long dainty beautiful fingers. You leaned into his touch. "Does it feel ok?" He whispered. You gave a reassuring nod. He pulled his hips back and thrusted back in, not too soft and not too hard he picked up a slow but deep rhythm for his movements. Your hands felt their way up and across his back, studying every curve and where he naturally flexed as he moved. His hands were firmly holding you in place at the waist, every desperate exhale and every shaky inhale sending almost an ASMR like tingle down your spine via your ear until your name suddenly slipped his lips. Most people feel a fuzzy like feeling inside hearing their proper name be called but this... this was unlike no other time. His deep voice, following a whimper, exhaling your name like a magic spell and it fading into a shiver-causing moan. To put it simply it was the sexiest thing you've ever heard and it activated a whole new part within you that felt foreign but so so so good. Like your blood had suddenly turned into liquid gold, all happy hormones releasing in a firework spelling the world "nothing else matters" in an imaginary sky. You wrapped your arms tighter around him, moaning his name out felt liberating. And it clearly triggered an equal reaction. His cheeks were already flushed and his eyes went wide. He smirked, growing more desperate, fucking your harder and deeper, chasing release. "Please cum for me." He whispered, pleading. "Please." He didn't need to place a formal request, you were already loosing yourself. The only sound echoing in the darkness being the roaring wind and rain along with your breaths and groans and the sound of his hips and your thighs. Wet, heavenly sounds to you. His sweet moans, his broad back, his dick... everything about him made you feel euphoric. The ever building tension below, the sweat forming on his forehead... "I'm gonna cum" he whimpered. Thinking your body couldn't possibly react stronger to him than it already was, it did. The thrusts grew faster, grunts louder and you could feel yourself leak even more. Back arching, tension growing... it felt even tighter now... you could feel him so well, every movement until you suddenly came un-done with a loud whimper to his ear, setting him off into his own orgasm, cumming deep inside with a string of "oh"s and groans, gritting his teeth together and tensing his face in a greedy expression. He slowed down to a halt, remaining inside, breathless on top of you. The light on the sofa table had reached its end and the faint scent of smoke filled the air as the flame went out, making the room completely pitch black. Taehyung's face nuzzled softly against your neck, inhaling the scent of you deeply and being soothed. "Wow." He coughed, followed by a groan. "Wow." You repeated, happy that the light went out so he couldnât see your flushed face. "You ok?" He whispered, vulnerability present in his voice. "I didn't go to hard right?" "It was amazing." He let out a breath of release and an awkward chuckle. "I'll pull out.." he said shyly, moving his hips back slowly and gently, slipping out. To your surprise, Taehyung climbed off of you, standing on his feet. The cold air made your nipples ache and your skin shiver. You wanted your human blanket and source of heat back. But you didnât have to wait for long. A pair of strong arms slid in under you, lifting you up with ease. "The sofa is too tiny." He carried you into your bedroom, gently putting you back down on the bed and laying down on his side next to you, pulling you close to his chest where his heart was still pounding hard. He hugged you tight, caressing the back of your head. His lips pressed against the crown of your head gently. "My good girl." He whispered, sounding almost proud. Your cheeks burned and a weird sense to cry bubbled up but you quickly swallowed it and hugged him tighter, burying your face against his chest. Never had you thought being called a good girl, specifically "Taehyung's" good girl would be able to move you to tears. But maybe it's what you needed to hear, mixed with the hormonal serotonin cocktail your body just released upon you. "You'll always have me." He nuzzled his nose in your hair. With a click the power came back on, including your pink hue nightstand lamp next to the bed. Taehyung's cheeks were deeply flushed, amplified by the flattering pink light cast over him. You giggled.  Had this really just happened? Because it felt so right. Or was it just the relief of sex? But masturbating had never made you feel this emotional before... You looked up at Taehyung's face again and he smiled softly, his hand caressing your bare back up and down. It was definitely him.

Reverse Crush
Reverse crushhhh!! One of my faveeee tropes haha! I hope that you guys like it too <3. Lemme know what you think!!Â
AO3
Marinette sighed dreamily, flopping face down onto her bed as a huge smile beamed across her face. Her kwami flitted nearby, laughing quietly as she watched the young girl. Marinette dropped her chin on her hands, murmuring, âDid you see him today, Tikki? Wasnât he just amazing? I just love him so much.âÂ
She dissolved into a fit of giggles, hiding her blushing face into her hands as she squealed. Her legs kicked behind her excitedly, already replaying the akuma attack in her mind as she thought over their interaction. How could he be so perfect?Â
Tikki shook her head at her fondly before saying, âYes, Marinette, I did see Chat Noir today. Iâm very proud of you, too. You managed to speak normally to him, too. Thatâs a great sign of improvement.â
She lifted her head back up, glaring at her kwami whose eyes were glimmering back at her teasingly. Marinette was too giddy to argue, however, and she simply flipped over onto her back, staring up at her ceiling with a dopey smile on her face. She only snapped out of her daydreams when TIkki hovered above her face, waving a hand at her.Â
âYouâre daydreaming again, Marinette,â she said, crossing her arms across her chest.
âI know!â She squealed, slapping her palms to her cheeks as another happy giggle left her. Flushing darkly, she looked over at the wall of pictures she had of Ladybug and Chat. Marinette then smiled softly at her favorite picture. It was one Alya had taken for her personal Instagram account. She and Chat had been out on patrol when it started raining, forcing them both underneath the same umbrella. His eyes were focused on her in the picture and she wondered what he could possibly be thinking about. Was it possible for him to like her back? Could he have feelings for his clumsy, little bug?
Sighing forlornly, Marinette trailed her fingers delicately over his cheek, wishing she could do that in real life. Turning to face the ceiling once again, she blinked in confusion when she heard a light thump on her balcony. Quickly, she shot her gaze over to Tikki and the kwami immediately took the hint, hiding inside the miracle box she had carefully hidden. Pushing herself up and off the bed, she carefully opened her trapdoor, her hand clenched into a tight fist just in case.
Instead of seeing an akuma or a burglar attempting to rob her, however, she instead saw the slouched form of her partner. He was leaning against her balcony, his ears drooped over his head as he stared out at the setting sun. Marinetteâs heart stumbled in her chest as she pulled herself up, tilting her head at him in confusion. âChat Noir? W-what, um, what are you doing here?â
Immediately, he perked up, whirling around to face her with a tight, forced smile. She instantly felt herself soften, her nervousness disappearing to be replaced with worry. Why did her kitty look so sad?Â
âPurrincess, fancy seeing you here,â Chat responded with a false, chipper voice.Â
Marinette frowned, scolding the butterflies she felt in her chest after he called her princess. Now wasnât really the time for her to focus on the fact that he just flirted with her. She was going to help him. Just like how he helped her with so many akuma attacks. Taking a cautious step toward him, she swallowed a lump in her throat before gesturing at her balcony. Giggling nervously, she replied, âI, um, live here.â
âRight. Of course you do,â Chat grimaced, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. âSorry for bothering you. I can leave now.â
He extended his baton and Marinette immediately rushed forward, waving her hands in an attempt to stop him. Calling out to him, she yelled, âWait, wait, wait! Y-youâre not bothering me at all! I-I just... is everything alright? You seemed sad.â
âThat obvious, huh?â He gave her a small smirk, shrugging his shoulders.
She flushed faintly before nodding her head. Taking another slow step toward him, she sighed in relief when he reduced his baton. Perhaps Tikki was right. Maybe she was making progress. This was the most sense she had ever made around her partner. Plus, Chat was staring at her with a look she couldnât quite identify. Her heart fluttered in her chest again before she shoved it away when he started speaking again.
âCome with me,â Chat spoke softly, extending a hand out to her as he jerked his head out toward the city. âI know a place thatâll be purrfect for the two of us.â
He winked at her and Marinette immediately knew that all hope was lost. She was surprised that she didnât melt into a puddle right then and there. Instead, her words rushed together at a mile a minute, making no sense as she chuckled awkwardly. âM-me, g-go with you? B-but youâre a civilian and Iâm a superhero. I-I mean youâre a superhero and Iâm a civilian. Besides, I have fomework. Homework! I have homework!â
He blinked at her in astonishment for a bit before he threw his head back in a loud laugh. Marinette turned a dark red, ducking her head down as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Was it possible to die of embarrassment?Â
âWell, that was pawsitively adorable.â Chat said after laughing. She immediately snapped her head back up to look at him in shock. The butterflies roared back to life as he gave her another wink, beckoning her forward with his still-extended hand. âCome on, homework can wait, canât it?â
Biting her lip shyly, she slowly took his hand, squeaking with surprise as he lifted her up into his arms. Peeking up at him from beneath her lashes, he murmured to her quietly, âClose your eyes, okay? It can get a little windy.â
Feeling her heart thump in her chest, Marinette nodded, wrapping her arms around him as she closed her eyes. She leaned into his embrace, shivers tingling up and down her body as she realized her crush was holding her. This was the luckiest she had ever been.Â
When he put her down after a few moments, she gasped in surprise. They were currently on top of the Eiffel Tower, Parisâ lights twinkling around them. Whirling around, she faced Chat who was smiling shyly. Gesturing around them, he asked, âDo you like it?â
âLike it?! Chat, I love it!â Marinette said emphatically, âThis is beautiful!âÂ
He beamed proudly and, for the first time, she felt like his bad mood had disappeared. Feeling pleased with herself for giving him a genuine smile, she hoped that his bad mood would stay away. Marinette then slowly sat down to look out over her city, a small smile on her lips as she listened to the sound of traffic below. She was surprised when she felt Chat sit down next to her, his hand brushing against hers lightly.
Flushing a deep red, she shifted slightly, hesitant to bring up any bad memories. Sucking in a deep breath of courage, Marinette asked, âSo, did something happen today, or...?â
Chat sighed quietly, placing his head on his hand as he murmured, âI was more tired than anything, I guess. My work can get exhausting. Plus...,â he paused once briefly to glance at her before continuing, âI donât think the girl I like likes me back.â
She immediately felt herself stiffen. Surely he couldnât be talking about her? She was always so obvious. Tapping her two index fingers together, Marinette murmured, âT-the girl you like?â
A wide smile spread across his face as he gazed at her. âYeah. Sheâs a fellow classmate of mine. Very smart and very purrety, too. The thing is, when I flirt with her, she seems to take everything as a joke. I donât think she realizes I actually like her.â
âSounds like an idiot,â Marinette muttered under her breath grumpily. So it wasnât her then. It was some pretty, amazing girl in Chatâs class. That girl was so lucky and she had no idea.Â
He laughed loudly, nudging her shoulder with his as his eyes glimmered over at her knowingly. âNo, sheâs really not. Purrhaps a little oblivious but not an idiot.â
Sighing quietly, Marinette glanced away from him, feeling slightly hopeless. If only she could slap some sense into the girl Chat likes. Looking down at Paris sadly, she said, âIf it makes you feel any better, I donât think the guy I like likes me back either.â
âWhat?! You like a guy?!â Chat immediately turned his head to look at her, a strange expression crossing his face before he backtracked. âI-I mean, w-what makes you think that?â
Chuckling bitterly at herself, she shook her head. âI can be pretty stupid around my crush. I say the wrong thing or I stutter on my words. Iâm incredibly clumsy too. Iâm sure he must think Iâm silly. He probably knows I like him and is trying to save my feelings by not telling me.â
âHey,â Chat placed his hands on her shoulders, bringing her gaze back to him as he spoke to her seriously, âMarinette, youâre an absolutely amazing girl! Any guy would be lucky to have you like him. And, besides, your clumsiness is adorable. Iâm jealous of him already.â
She bit her lip to contain her beaming smile. Chat was jealous of... well, himself! Plus, he called her amazing! He may be in love with someone else but it was her he was bringing to the top of the Eiffel Tower and her he fought akumas with every day. The girl he was in love with sounded oblivious too so maybe she did still have a chance.Â
Feeling her face heat up, Marinette asked, âReally?â
âReally,â Chat smiled back at her, his hands still on her shoulders as he squeezed them gently.Â
Feeling giddy, she then murmured shyly, âI feel the exact same about that girl you like. Sheâs lucky to have you, even if she doesnât know it yet.â
He blinked at her a few times before a soft, adoring smile spread across his face. âShe really is.â
Marinette then turned away from him, a strong urge to press forward and kiss him filling her. Instead of doing that, though, she leaned her head against his shoulder, sighing quietly as she looked out at the city of Paris. This was enough. Even if Chat wasnât in love with her, she could live with being his best friend. Having him in her life was just perfect for her.

Roommates â Part Five
Pairing: Cillian Murphy x Reader
Words: 1,056
Warning: None
Note: This plays in 2020. Please interact. Your interactions and comments mean a lot to me.
After Cillian retreated from the kitchen to escape from this awkwardness and have a shower, you stood in the kitchen with Lindsay on your own, helping her chop up some of the vegetables.
Whilst you tried to mind your own business, you couldnât help but glance over at her on several occasions.
She had long blonde hair which smelled like fruity shampoo and her appearance was almost immaculate. Her make up highlighted the contours of her face while her necklace was the perfect length to elegantly make her breasts stand out.
Unlike yours, her breasts were big and round and her skin was pale. She looked like a model and you could certainly see why Cillian was attracted to her.
In addition to this, she was smart and Cillian certainly enjoyed the company of women with a certain kind of intellect.
âI was surprised when Cillian told me about you moving in with him for nowâ Lindsay eventually said after you were preparing dinner together in silence for about ten minutes while Cillian was in the shower. You werenât quite sure what she meant by this since Cillian barely mentioned her name since they started sleeping with each other. How much did she know about you, you wondered?
âI donât think you have anything to worry about, Lindsay. Weâve been friends for many years and there is nothing between usâ you said, reassuring her, thinking that she might be feeling threatened with you being around him on a daily basis.
âI am not worried Y/N. This sounds horrible but you arenât exactly his typeâ she went on to say, causing you to put down the knife and look at her with some confusion.
âGood, I am gladâ you eventually chuckled before inhaling sharply. Whilst you believed this to be true, you were annoyed by her comment. After all, she barely knew you.
âI remember him saying to me that he doesnât like tattoos on womenâ she then explained before telling you that Cillian thinks that tattoos are tacky.
âDid he say that?â you asked surprised and a little upset.
âSort ofâ she then confirmed which is just when Cillian returned to the kitchen.
***
Over dinner, Cillian was rather quite while Lindsay did most of the talking, boring you to death. It was obvious to you that she didnât like you and wanted to mark her territory and you certainly didnât understand how Cillian could listen to her talk about clothes and fashion for at least an hour. Â
Little did you know that Cillian didnât listen to a word Lindsay said this evening. In fact, his focus was on you and he couldnât help but watch you running your tongue piercing against your teeth as you listened to Lindsay talk. It was obvious to him that you were bored by what she had to say. Yet, he couldnât get his eyes of you and his manhood began to stir once again.
This was getting ridiculous, he thought. How could he be around you for the remainder of this never-ending pandemic, he wondered.
His cock twitched and strained against his tight jeans as he looked over towards you and thought about you calling out his name as you were pleasuring yourself in the bathroom earlier.
He didnât know why you did it and whether it meant anything. He was desperate to ask you about it, but decided that he couldnât because then you would know that he was watching you.
As Lindsay continued talking and ran her hand over Cillianâs thigh suggestively his mind began to ponder about whether or not you wanted him as much as he wanted you.
âCillian?â she eventually repeated, which is when he snapped out of his thoughts about you and looked at Lindsay.
âDo you want to watch a movie?â she asked again and he nodded.
***
Half an hour later, you were sitting on one lounge with Cillianâs dog while Lindsay and Cillian sat together on the other.
You tried hard to concentrate on the movie, but couldnât help but glance over towards your roommate and his visitor on numerous occasions.
His arm was wrapped around her and you could just sense how she enjoyed the feel of his warm skin against hers. She was breathing in his scent while his nose was leaned against her beautifully soft hair.
On occasion, she would move a little and look at him, kissing him gently while Cillian was caressing her face and, eventually, watching them like this, kissing and cuddling, became too much for you.
You were jealous and this was a feeling that was unfamiliar to you when it came to your friendship with Cillian. You knew that you shouldnât feel this way but you did.
âI am going to bedâ you eventually blurted out, causing Cillian to look at you with big eyes.
âAre you alright?â he asked, looking at his watch. He knew that, normally, you wouldnât go to bed before midnight and it wasnât even 9 oâclock yet.
âYes, just tired. Have a good night you twoâ you said, forcing out a wink before disappearing into the nearby bathroom to brush your teeth.
âGood nightâ Cillian and Lindsay both said quickly before Lindsay pressed her lips onto Cillianâs lips once again.
But Cillian didnât feel anything when he kissed her. For him, the past hour was like acting out a script, a love scene of some sort with several takes. He was going through the motions while his mind was elsewhere.
âWe should probably take this to the bedroom too, donât you think?â Lindsay asked.
âYes, sureâ Cillian huffed out in response and, just as you came walking out of the bathroom, you saw Cillian and Lindsay disappear in his bedroom.

What I Thought About "Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door" from The Owl House
Wow. They are really pushing it for that secret message, huh?
Anywho--Salutations, random people on the internet who certainly wonât read this! I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons!
I think it goes without saying at this point that Season Two of The Owl House is setting itself up as a season without filler. Now, filler episodes aren't always bad. Yes, it hurts when a series turns away from the main plot for a week. But at best, they're utilized as a chance for the writers to play around with the characters and developing said characters without it relating to the overarching story. So, some people who see that consider it a bad thing that a series doesn't have that many filler episodes.
I like to call those people: F**king morons.
Don't get me wrong, I see where some of you are coming from. And I'd be willing to agree...if The Owl House was a plot-driven series. Which it's not. It is a character-driven series. Because for every plot thread and narrative that the show presents, they always relate to the characters and develop them further each time these threads get brought up. For example, look at "Knock Knock Knockinâ on Hooty's Door" (It pains me just to write that). Several narratives move forward, and itâs all done to make the characters grow. And to explain how requires going into spoilers. So keep that in mind as you continue reading.
Now, let's review, shall we?
WHAT I LIKED
Hooty: Might as well start with the character that this episode is about.
To tell you the truth, I wasn't a huge fan when I found out we're getting a Hooty-centered episode. I've grown to love him over time, but he is a comedic character that's best used in small doses. Primarily due to how his voice is grating to me (My ears are still bleeding...). With that said, I do really love his contributions in "Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door" (Seriously, there couldn't have been a less awkward title?). Hooty's antics when trying to help everyone are as hilarious as they are heartwarming. He deeply cares for his friends but just doesn't understand how his plans could do some unintended harm, which is pretty lovable if you ask me. We also get some surprisingly great insight into his character, as he feels insecure about basically being the comic relief who doesn't really do that much other than being funny. Rarely do you get that level of dimension from a comedic character, and it's even more uncommon for that to work out as well as it does here. It once again proves just how competent the writing is in this series to the point where we get an episode about Hooty, and it's funny and heartwarming instead of being annoying. And whoever is responsible for that, you're the best.
Lilithâs Letter to Hooty: I mean it when I say that I love how Lilith kept her word about her and Hooty becoming penpals. Their friendship was something I would have never expected to love, and I'm still shocked that it works so well, so seeing it continue like this just warms me to the bone. Plus, it is pretty sweet that Lilith's kind words are what inspired Hooty to do what he's done in this episode...meaning it's Lilith we should thank here--SON OF A WITCH! Even when she's gone, she's still working her way into my heart!
King going through Puberty: What?! KING IS EVOLVING!
(There, I made a Pokemon reference. Do I get my cookie now?)
Eda Keeping Herself Awake to Train Herself: I'm willing to bet a large sum of money that this has everything to with Raine getting captured last week. If Eda was still the most powerful witch in the Isles, she might have actually saved them. But she isn't, and now the love of her life is in the clutches of a tyrant planning something that could potentially be the end of everything. So I can understand Eda pushing herself to her limit to get back on top again, as I would probably do the same. It's not healthy in any way, and Eda would be doing more harm than good. But when it comes to the people you love, logic doesn't always win out in the end.
Luz Wanting to Make her Way into Amityâs Heart by Making the Echo Mouse Happy: ...That's it. I Just...I just love everything about it, ok?
This was also when I knew that I was wrong to doubt that there would be zero Lumity in this episode. I realize my follies now, and I humbly apologize.
Hooty Teaching King About Demons: This was so funny. So, so funny. Probably doesn't come as a surprise, especially since The Owl House proves itself as a comedy before, but the jokes have never hit as frequently and as hard as they did here. From Hooty getting offended by King's dance to him and Dana's insert wanting a "DNA sample," everything managed to successfully make me lose my s**t. It does come at the expense of King suffering, but I can stomach that much more than if it were Eda or Luz. And, as a bonus, we get lore about how demons work, added with another great joke of King getting in trouble with Hooty for saying he already knows this stuff. Humor isn't always the show's strong suit, but when it works, it f**king works.
King Wanting to Know What he Is: But despite how funny King's vignette was, we still get to see more of his character grow. We learn that he's frustrated now that there's this big question mark over his life now, feeling extra angry that his father "abandoned" him to leave such a present mystery. It shows the hidden resentment he has that Lilith inadvertently brought out, made even worse when King's father hasn't responded to the video yet. King hasn't really gotten that much development until "Echoes of the Past," so it's pretty cool that the writers haven't really slowed down on it. Especially when it leads to these great moments of King venting his frustrations.
Kingâs Shouting Powers: KING learned FUS RO DAH!
(And now that's a Pokemon reference AND a Skyrim reference. WHERE'S MY GOSH DANG COOKIE!?)
Edaâs Nightmare: If King's vignette hits you hard with the laughs, Eda's will absolutely hit you harder with the feels (never make me say "feels" unironically again). Knowing that Eda's life got thoroughly screwed over by the curse is something we could figure out on her own. But seeing just how much the curse ruined her life and tore apart relationships that mean the world to her really does a swell job at ripping apart the soul. What's even more tragic is, technically speaking, it's all sort of Eda's fault too. She kept hiding the curse, refusing to be a burden to others who would do all they could to help. If she had only been open and honest, things probably wouldn't have changed much, but they most likely would have been better than they are now.
Eda Attacked her Father as the Owl Beast: ...I don't know what I was expecting when "Keeping Up A-Fear-Ances" hinted that there was some possible tension between Eda and her father...but it definitely wasn't this.
The fact that we see blood where his eye used to be doesn't make things any happier, either.
Raine Broke Up with Eda: Before we get into anything else, let's celebrate the fact that it's now confirmed that Eda and Raine really did use to date in the past. Because this show is just f**king phenomenal with its LGBTQA+ representation!
But, seriously, this is a fantastic reveal that goes far beyond just shipping...well, sort of. It shines a new light on Eda and Raine's interactions from last week, revealing that while they're not a couple anymore, they still very much love each other. It helps make their last interaction especially tragic, as they were both on the same page now and could very well be together again. Only for them to be forced apart for the second time in a way that's much worse than the first. And I frickin' adore that this series changes the impact of one episode one week later. Again, it shows just how competent these writers are, and kudos to them for making something so...perfect.
The Moon Person: WHO THE FU--Nope. Nope! We have more than enough mystery bulls**t to deal with through CreepyLuz and Philip Wittebane, so I am PUTTING YOU ON THE BACKBURNER FOR NOW!
(They're probably nothing more than a one-off character, anyway)
The Owl Beast and Eda are Connected: Through visuals alone, we, the audience, can clue into what the curse really means. The Owl Beast doesn't want to be a part of Eda as much as she doesn't want it to be a part of her. Whether they like it or not, and they very much don't, they're stuck together. The thing is, and this is what I love the most, they still decide to make the best of their situation rather than let it ruin their lives even more. This might be the best possible turn Eda's curse could have made. It'll still affect her, and there are probably more negatives than positives, but at least now, it's not the worst thing in the world. And I feel like that's all anyone can ask when in a position like her own.
Eda's âPretty Dreamâ: I don't know what emotions are toiling inside me more with this moment. Awe and wonder over how beautiful Eda's dream is, or heartbreak over the implication that she has only had nightmares since getting cursed...I'm gonna say both. Yeah, it's definitely both.
Edaâs Harpie Form: Well, fan artists are gonna have a field day with this...especially the freaks.
(You know who you are. And you're weird!)
Luz Calling Amity a âCotton-Candy Haired Goddessâ: ...Have I ever mentioned how much I love this show?
Hooty Kidnapped Amity: ...Hooty, if your stupidity wasn't charming, I would be more than willing to call the authorities over how you kidnapped a girl in your version of a knapsack and locked her in the basement. For that is going to ring SO MANY alarm bells in people's heads.
Amity and Luz Stuck in a Tunnel of Love: *Smacks lips* Mmm. The adorable awkwardness of this moment is just *chef's kiss* magnifique!
Luz being afraid of getting made fun of:
Amityâs look of hope: I mean...just...f**king--LOOK AT HER:
That is the look of a girl who, while embarrassed as hell, still is ecstatic to learn for a brief moment, everything that she is hoping for has a high chance of being real. Who, in their right mind, wouldn't go "Aw!" at something so pure and innocent?!
Luz Destroying the Tunnel of Love: This is how to effectively utilize dramatic irony. The audience can understand why Luz is tearing the place apart because she explicitly states that she's afraid of Amity rejecting her in the end. They also know that's bogus, thus making it extra painful to watch Amity's heart break more and more with each second (which is perfectly represented through Amity's expressions). You feel bad for both of them, and even worse when you know that it can easily be prevented by the simple art of communication. That's what makes it great dramatic irony. Knowing the point of view of each character results in a scene that evokes emotions in two different ways.
Hootyâs Breakdown: This was...genuinely hard to watch. Not that it was badly written, far from it. It just...hurt seeing how destroyed Hooty was when he realized he failed the people he has such an admiration for. On the upside, a wholesome moment follows soon after as the Owl House gang tries to reassure Hooty that he's done a lot of good that night. It's a pure action that shows even though Hooty gets on their nerves all the time, they still care about him...damn it. I think I'm gonna cry.
Edaâs Advice for Luz: ...Eda...You're the best.
You found out that your surrogate daughter wants to ask a girl out, and not only were you quick to deliver the best possible advice ("Just go for it!"), but you also quickly reassure her that it doesn't need to be perfect.
And you know what? That's it. Eda is the best cartoon mom! She might not technically be Luz's mom, but I don't give a s**t because she is the best!
Luz and Amity Ask Each Other Out: Shh-sh-sh-sh...
Do you hear that?
...
...
...It's the sound of dozens of Lumity fans collectively losing their s**t...and I'm one of them.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO!
IT!
IS!
CANON!
AH-HAHAHAHAHA!
HOLY S**T! Holy s**t! Holy s**t...might just be the best way I could possibly describe this! Finally, after all the waiting, speculating, and praying, THESE TWO IDIOTS FINALLY GOT TOGETHER! AND IT WAS PERFECT! I mean, it was awkward as s**t, but that's what makes it perfect! You know why? You wanna--Hey! *snaps fingers*. You want to know why? It's because they're teenagers. Of f**king course, it's going to be awkward! This is their first relationship, so there will be a lot of missteps along the way. And that, in itself, brings me to the best (second best part?) thing about it happening in episode eight of the new seasons. Most endgame couples get together in the climax or even at the end of the series. But to have them get together this early on, means there will be quite a few episodes dedicated to showing them grow as a couple.
And better than that--EVEN F**KING BETTER THAN THAT--dozens of kids are going to see these two, a realistic depiction of young love that just so happens to involve two girls, and are going to learn once and for all that there is nothing wrong with being who they are. That fact alone is f**king incredible. Yes, it sucks that season three got cut short, and we'll have even less time with Luz and Amity, but knowing how many kids have felt seen today almost makes it worth it in the end.
And if I see one mother f**ker saying this was poorly paced, I might just hunt them down for SPORT...Sorry if that was an overreaction. I'M JUST SO HAPPY! Because they're happy! Look at them. Listen to them! It's so...GAH-HAHAHA!
âTheyâre adorable! And deserve all the happiness!â: You're darn right, Hooty! You're darn right.
Kingâs Father(?) Shows Up: What the--WHAT?! They're doing this now?! Here?! After everything else?
Oh, man. What could this mean? What dynamic changes will this cause in the main cast? How could the writers fit this in during the next two episodes? And what--
Hooty Eats the Letter: ...Pfffft--HAHAHAHA!
Oh, man...I should be mad, and I wouldn't blame others if they are...but that is too much of a brilliant f**k you that I can't help but appreciate it. Bravo writers. Bravo.
WHAT I DISLIKED
...Dislikes? Dislikes? You would honestly believe that after everything I witnessed in this episode, that I would have the gull to list anything wrong with it?!
HOW DARE YOU ASSUME THAT I WOULD BE SO CALLUS TO--Actually, I do kind of have an issue with the episode's title. It's just too much of an awkward mouthful for me to get behind. I understand that the writers wanted to sneak the K into the secret message, but were there really no other titles starting with K that they couldn't come up with?
But that's just a personal issue, and in no way do I think anybody else would feel the same way. Especially with how well-written everything else is anyway.
IN CONCLUSION
"Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door" (title aside) is another A+ episode. It was hilarious, heart-wrenching, and downright adorable while keeping me entertained with every minute. I'm sure there are some issues I was willing to ignore due to how expertly written everything else was, but why bother looking for the chinks in the armor when I could just enjoy a perfect episode for being so...perfect! Some of you might be willing to disagree with me, but to that, I say: Don't knock it till you've tried it.
(Now, if you don't excuse me, I'm going to go lie down. It's...It's been a day.)

Illustrated Man l Spencer Reid Fic
Pairing: Reader x Spencer ReidÂ
Category: Fluff
Summary: Spencer comes home from a particularly difficult case, and begins to doubt himself. Reader helps him unwind and helps paint a picture of all the great things about him.
A/N: Helloooooooo friends! Yet again, I thought of a single line of dialogue I really wanted to make work so I spit a thousand words around it to bring it to life lol. Anyways! This fic is free of reader pronouns and gender identifiers, so anyone can read this and make the âIââa their own âşď¸
P.S. Iâll see what I can do about not disappearing again for weeks on end, but I make no promises
Content warning: None! Except Spencer has his shirt off? But thatâs it!
WC: 2.4k
The sound of the door clicking shut and Spencer vacating his lungs of all air drew my head up from my book.
âYouâre home!â I cheered, closing my book and getting up to greet him.
He lifted his satchel over his head and gave me a small smile that didnât touch his eyes. I nodded, mostly to myself, knowing that this meant the case was harder than most. On nights like this, Spencer was hard to reach. I padded my way across the living room and wrapped my arms around him like he might slip away if I didnât hold him tight enough.
I pulled his head down to rest on my shoulder as his arms snaked around me, wrapping himself in me, too. We stayed like that a while until he stood up and cupped my cheeks in his hands, bringing my face up for a kiss.
âHi,â he said softly.
I smiled into his palms. âHi.â
I took his hands in mine and kissed his knuckles, then led him to our bedroom to get him out of his work clothes. I helped him out of his cardigan and dress shirt, then left him to do the rest while I got him some water. When I returned, he was laying face down across the bed in a pair of sweatpants. His head rested on his crossed arms, and turned to face me when I laid next to him on the bed. I propped my head up one arm and gave him a half smile.
âDo you want to tell me about it?â
He thought for a moment before giving me a recap of the case, leaving out the gruesome details. I listened and ran my fingers across his back, alternating scratches with swirling patterns on the soft skin. Sometimes my hand would find itself at the nape of his neck and work through the hair there.
As he spoke, his voice became more resolved and tired. He worked so hard, but the things he saw, the things this job had put him through weighed on him. He was strong and incredibly smart, but just because he carried it well didnât mean the load wasnât heavy.
I took a deep breath and spoke gently, not wanting to offend him. âMaybe you can take some time off?â I suggested.
He shook his head, his chin brushing his hands folded under his chin.
âThe team needs me. These victims and their families need me.â
I bit my tongue. I needed him, too. But this was hardly the time to bring that up.
âBut this job,â he paused for a moment before continuing, âIt takes pieces of me I canât get back, and Iâm scared all I am is the parts Iâve managed to pick up off of the ground.â
I closed my eyes and wished away the tears forming in my eyes. I heard him take a deep breath but he didnât say anything else.
âI have an idea. Stay there.â
His head lifted and his eyes followed me around the room to our closet where my painting supplied resided.
âIâm going to paint you.â
âPaint me?â
I turned around, a towel in one hand and my box of paints and brushes in the other. âYes. Youâre gonna lay here and talk to me about anything in the world and Iâm going to paint you.â
His eyes scanned the contents of my hands. I could see the gears in his head turning for a moment before he shrugged and gave a small nod.
âOkay.â
I ran a hand through his hair and bent down to kiss his forehead before climbing on the bed and straddling his thighs, setting my supplies on the towel beside us. âTalk to me.â
His head cocked to the side as he contemplated his answer.
âNot about work,â I clarified.
I felt his laugh beneath me. âOkay then, what would you like me to tell you about?â
I tapped my bottom lip with the handle of my paintbrush. âHmmm. Read any good books lately?â
I could feel his smile without seeing it. If there was one thing Spencer loved more than saving lives and doing crossword puzzles in pen, it was reading. âI revisited some Ray Bradbury on the plane home,â he said.
âMmm, tell me about it.â
He took a deep breath beneath me and began. âI re-read The Illustrated Man. Itâs a compilation of short stories told through interactions between an omniscient narrator and a man covered in tattoos that each tell tales of events that have not happened yet. The tattoos are magic, and they come alive to tell the stories they depict. The stories are mostly science fiction, but have elements of pretty universal truths that Bradbury is famous for addressing.
For example, in one story explores the deep seeded longing of one man to take a trip to outer space. Something that, in this story, is attaintanable. He works his whole life to be able to fulfill this yearning, but he is torn between going or staying with his family, whom he also loves. It begs the question of the existence of duality of desire and duty.
Then, in another, thereâs this incessant rain. And this group of men are searching for cover and sunshine, but itâs wearing them down and breaking them. These small raindrops, just water, becomes torture. Itâs interesting how something as small as raindrops can break both canyons and men.â
I listen as he tells me about each story behind the manâs tattoos, about how theyâre all different but important and lend themselves to portraying the then-futuristic perception world around us. Sometimes, his voice gets sad at the implications of the stories, but other times he seems to appreciate the sentiment behind them.
I dip my brushes and admire the way they drag across his soft skin, leaving a wake of vibrant pigments behind. I hmm and ahhh at appropriate times, partially paying attention but mostly glad that heâs able to enjoy himself and is able to think of something other than the darkness in his world.
We stayed in our respective positions for the better part of an hour- him laying on the bed with his head on his hands while I straddled the back of his thighs, stroking brushes across the lines of his back.
When Iâm finally finished, I roll my neck and place my hands on the small of his back, taking a moment to take it in. The idea of creating a universe compelled me; there was so much beauty and so much unknown in the expanse of space. The concept seemed fitting for what I hoped to help him understand. Iâd mixed a navy blue paint for a base, and created swirls of light with yellows, creams, and whites to create a brighter contrast and background for the more intricate featured parts. One section had books, a coffee cup, a molecular model Iâd hoped was an actual chemical, and a small red apple.
The next was a canyon, modeled after one of the scenic drives weâd taken the last time we visited Vegas to see his mom at her new care facility. We parked at a lookout spot and watched the sun set- gorgeous oranges, yellows, and pinks painted the sky over the rock. It was at that moment Iâd never been more jealous of Spencerâs perfect memory.
Another section, closer to the bottom curve of his spine was a silhouette outline of the Christmas card the team had sent out two years ago. Spencer had a copy hanging by a CalTech magnet on the fridge, another on his desk, and a folded and fading copy in his wallet.
He loved that photo â the way it captured their joyous spirits and ability to be carefree despite the things that initially brought them together.
I took a deep breath and playfully patted his bottom. âAll done!â
He threw a boyish grin over his shoulder and handed me his phone.
I snapped a few pictures, holding the phone up by my chin to capture the expanse of his back, then a bit closer to the individual parts. I passed the phone back over his shoulder and brought my clasped hands up under my chin. âOkay, so, if you donât like it, thatâs okay you can wash-â I rushed, but stopped short when I felt his breath hitch from underneath me.
He was silent for a moment, staring at the phone in his hand.
I took a deep breath. âSpencer, you contain multitudes. Youâre a loving son, an amazing friend, a brilliant profiler, a great cat-sitter, an instant mashed potato extraordinaire, and my favorite boyfriend.â
I dusted an invisible speck of dust off his shoulder before continuing, giving my words a moment to sink in. I needed him to hear me, and to know these truths. âYou are so much more than the things you donât love about yourself. You are more than this job, you are more than the obstacles youâve had to overcome. Theyâre a part of who you are, yeah, but theyâre not all that you are.â
I shook my head, though he couldnât see it. The knowledge of the man beneath me not knowing he was deeply loved seemed so wrong.
âYou are so incredibly loved, Spencer. The people in your life are so lucky to know you and to be loved by you. Each and every one of your friends is changed and is better for having known you, believe me.â
He was silent for a short while, pinching and zooming in on the screen to see the different parts of him illustrated in his skin. He cleared his throat a few times. Part of me was grateful I couldnât see his face, and he couldnât seem mine. Though, I didnât need to see the way his mind was working to know he was trying to find a flaw in my logic.
The amount of love I had for the man beneath me threatened to spill over in the form of tears.
âFavorite boyfriend?â he asked finally, feigning insult.
I laughed. âSo far, yeah.â
I knew that wasnât the only thing heâd heard, but probably was the only thing he could bring himself to comment on.
I scrambled off of my perch unceremoniously, stretching for a moment before straightening up and offering my hand. He laid with his chin resting on his fists stacked, staring at me for a moment.
âWhat?â I asked with a small huff.
âBeing loved by you is one of the greatest joys of my life.â
I felt my mouth pop open, a bit taken aback at such a bold admission. A sweet smile touched his lips while he watched me try to scoop my heart back into my chest. He climbed off the bed gingerly, careful not to rock the tray of paint and brushes with his long limbs.
His large hand wrapping around mine grounded me from cloud nine and I could feel the smile forming on my lips. I turned and started heading towards the bathroom.
âCome,â I said, pulling him along behind me.
When we arrived in the small room, I halted and spun him so the back of his thighs were resting against the porcelain countertop and I was flush against his front. My hands came to rest on the edges of the countertop, caging him between my arms. I looked up at him, squinting slightly.
âIâd like to take a picture, is that okay?â
I knew Spencer was wary of having his picture taken; most of our pictures together were candids Iâd puppy eyed my way into him letting me keep.
He narrowed his eyes back at me. My lower lip made an appearance, coupled with a knitted brow and cautious look from under my lashes.
He laughed and shook his head. âOkay.â
Before he could change his mind, I grabbed my phone and rushed back to my place in front of him, pressing my front to his.
I snaked my arms around his torso so our chests were together while his back bearing my painting faced the mirror. My arms poking out from between his arm and torso space made him look like an alien, but placing one hand on his hip while the other held my phone gave the pose a more artistic feel.
I snapped a few pictures, messing with the lighting and exposure, playing with shadows from the vanity and positioning him every which way. Every once in a while, Iâd pull my arms from him and show him a few shots I liked but they never felt like the one.
He smiled and nodded encouragingly, taking my direction to tilt this way or arch his shoulder that way. I started to feel for him, weâd been there for 15 minutes at least.
I pouted and let my head fall back dramatically. âI give up,â I whined.
He gave a small smile and leaned down to kiss me. I met his lips with a smile of my own before resting my head against his chest.
âTry one more time,â he encouraged.
I nodded and wrapped my arms around him again. I poked my head out so it was just visible behind his arm, resting my chin on his bicep as I focused my phone camera to capture the two of us and my work on his back.
âSmile,â I said before snapping a few shots. Spencerâs body shook with his laugh as he leaned down to press a kiss to the top of my head. My thumb grazed the shutter button, capturing the moment.
It was perfect.
His back was illuminated perfectly by the soft glow of the vanity mirror lighting, the muscles in his back tensed when he bent down, creating dips and curves that separated the focus points brilliantly. My hand wasnât posed, just gently resting on his hip, a soft touch that lent itself perfectly to the lightness of the moment.
I pulled myself from around him and held the phone between us. His hand found the small of my back and he pulled me closer to him, sealing our lips together. Our lips were unhurried, enjoying the softness of the moment and the love between us. His free hand cupped my cheek as we broke apart. His eyes bore into mine, both pairs slightly glossy.
âThank you,â he said softly.
I nodded and buried my head into his chest so he wouldnât see the fresh tears springing in my eyes. His arms wrapped around me as he pressed more kisses to the top of my head.

Time (MONSTA X: Chae Hyungwon)
a few things:
1. yes i'm a monbebe now too and i fully blame fatal love era hyungwon for it. he has my multistan ass whipped
2. THIS IS THE LONGEST FIC I'VE EVER WRITTEN FOR THIS BLOG HOLY GAWD
3. i'm back to going to the office everyday for work, so we're back to infrequent posting lmao
ok so. i've wanted to write a vampire fic for so long now (the previous/first one i wrote was back in 1st year high school and despite my massive vampire kink i didn't attempt to make any other vamp related stories haha), and when i saw hyungwon in that red suit with the long hair and the eyebags and the turtleneck i just kinda went feral. this thing took me like, almost a month to write; it's been hard to cook up writing brain juice between work and trying to be healthy and keeping up with the pan de manila.
i fully intended for this to be like, sexy suggestive and leading to something more for the ending, but like. it turned out soft. somehow. the premise was perfect, but somehow my brain was like, "no make it soft" and we have whatever this is.
this is unedited bc i wrote it half-asleep and wanted to get it out there
PAIRING: Chae Hyungwon x reader. GENRE: vampire!AU, some fluff, modern fantasy. WARNINGS: vampire-typical injuriesâbiting, bloodâsome very mild sexual themes. WORD COUNT:Â 3,589 (holy shit).
---
The entryway is lit by the two dim overhead lights, casting an orange tint to the concrete floor. You take care to slip your shoes on quietly, not wanting to accidentally wake the slumbering man in the other room; he just got home a few hours ago and you didnât want to cut his sleep short, remembering how he slowly slipped under the covers with you, winding an arm around your midsection and releasing a heavy breath before passing out.
So with a glance at your watchâthe one he got you for your birthday a few years back, the one youâve worn almost everywhere sinceâyou grab your work bag and try to slip off the chain lock with as little sound as possible.
âAre you leaving for work?â
You flinch at his voice, huskier now with remnants of sleep. Hyungwon has a thing about soundlessly walking into places and surprising you by suddenly speaking. Your face scrunches at your failed attempt to slip out unnoticed, and a loud sigh escapes your lips as you turn to face him.
âHow long have you been awake?â you ask, stepping right to the elevated wooden floor that separates the entryway to the living area. Hyungwon is wearing a white shirt that completely swallows his slender frame and loose pajama pants. You cup his soft cheek, drag your hand to his neck, his shoulder, down his arm, until youâre intertwining your fingers.
âPretty much since you left the bed,â he mumbles, taking his other hand and wrapping it around you, pulling you to his chest. You feel him rest his face on the top of your head and breathe in your scent.
âAw,â you reply quietly, smoothing a hand down his back. âAnd I thought I was being super quiet this time.â
Thereâs comfortable silence as Hyungwon basks in your warmth and you can swear heâs close to falling asleep where he stands. You think thereâs no other place youâd want to be right now, but unfortunately, you need to work and he needs to sleep.
You let go of the strap on your bag and tap his side gently. âI have to go,â you murmur.
Hyungwon groans, lowers his head and tilts it to the side to whisper directly into your ear. âDo you really have to? Because thereâs something more important you need to do here.â He noses at your temple, his cold breath fanning against your ear.
âOh? And what is that?â Itâs too early in the day for goosebumps, and the faster you force him back to bed, the better your chances of resisting the sweet pull of his voice.
âMmmâŚ,â he groans again, and you feel his smile as he kisses your ear. âSleep.â
You snort, pulling away with a soft smile, free hand coming to cup his face. You pass your thumb over his cheekbone and watch as he melts at your touch, dark bangs falling over his closed eyes. âIâll be home early today, love,â you say, pressing a soft kiss to his plump lips.
Hyungwonâs eyes open unhurried, and he leans down to return the peck, lips moving slow against yours like honey. âHurry back,â he mumbles against your lips.
***
A quiet sigh leaves his lips as Hyungwon toes off his shoes, leaving them at their designated space at the entrance. He hangs his bag and coat on the hooks before silently walking through the apartment to the bathroom, eager to scrub himself clean of the aggravating scents and grime of the club.
Hyungwon loves his job, he does. The people he interacts with there, though? Still up for debate.
The hot, almost scalding water seeps into his skin, warming him up from the outside. Heâs used to the cold, he himself being below the normal human temperature for nearly a century now. The droplets sting a little, but itâs the pain that grounds Hyungwon to reality, a sort of proof of life in his years of floating along the endless river of time, never knowing when and where his journey would end.
Thereâs another pain, a burning in his throat, that reminds him well of his immortality. It assaults him every few days, and over the years has dulled from hurting so bad he nearly claws out his neck, to just being a pain in the ass that makes him cough if he doesnât slake the thirst.
Hyungwonâs body cools rapidly when he shuts off the water, the soft April chill helping it along so that heâs mostly dry when he grabs his towel.
The bedroom is silent when he slips in, quickly dressing in the huge shirt and loose pants from yesterday, before he ducks out again to make a beeline to the kitchen, folding his tall frame into a crouch as he opens the refrigerator. Thereâs a space just for his blood bags in the far corner of the fridge, that he immediately scans and finds empty. Hyungwon groans and slaps a hand over his face.
Of course he forgets to stop by the blood bank tonight. He vaguely remembers taking the last bag four days ago and making a mental note to call Kihyun for his refills, but there must have been something that distracted him at the time because at present, he canât recall contacting Kihyun about it at all, despite exchanging messages regularly.
He stands to his full height as he closes the door, leans his head against it as he mulls over his forgetfulness that never went away in all his years of living. And before he slips back into your bedroom and into the sweet realm of sleep, he rummages in his bag for his phone, texts his friend, gets a short scolding about his poor memory, and then sets a date to pick up his food.
Hyungwon quietly pads back to the bedroom and closes the door soundlessly, careful not to wake you. He slides in next to you, pulling the comforter snug against him as he rests on his elbows. He takes a few seconds to gaze at your sleeping figure, something he does every night. The random thought of coming off as creepy on the off chance you wake up runs through his head, but at the same time he thinks he wouldnât mind if you catch him watching you sleep.
You know Hyungwon loves you, and heâs told you before that youâre one of his anchors to his hold on humanity. Never once in your two-year relationship did you take his vulnerability for granted, and heâs (quite literally) eternally grateful for your kindness and love.
He settles in on his side, and his shuffling has got you adjusting to his shape under the covers. Hyungwon feels you turn to face him and reach for his arm. You groan small, pull at his slender limb to wrap it around you, and he just lets you move him the way you want, an amused smile on his face. His other arm slides beneath your neck, and you nuzzle closer to him, breathing deep when youâre finally satisfied. He counts five seconds before your breaths even out in slumber.
Hyungwon presses a kiss to the crown of your head and inhales your scent, relaxed now and ready to follow you into sleep.
***
His alarm wakes him at noon, the shrill tone making him jerk and tighten his arm around the warm body in front of him, brows scrunching as he groans softly. Hyungwon stretches an arm towards the nightstand and turns off the alarm with an expert swipe of a finger. He buries his nose into your hair, not wanting to enter the land of the living yet. You respond with a hum, shifting and turning so your back is pressed against his chest.
You both try to doze off again before Hyungwon realizes two things:
OneâItâs a Friday.
TwoâYouâre still in his arms.
âLove,â he mumbles against your hair.
You reply around five seconds later, with a simple grunt.
Hyungwon snorts a laugh, eyes still closed, but mind slowly waking with every passing second. âArenât you supposed to be at work?â
Another grunt from you, this time louder and longer. You shuffle under the sheets to turn to him again, eyes persistently closed and brows knit slightly. âTook the day off,â you mumble and slither your arm under his, scooting closer to bury your face in his neck. âWanted to spend some time with you.â
At this Hyungwon smiles, rests his cheek on your head. âSo we have until tomorrow night to do whatever then.â
Itâs quiet for a few moments before your head shoots up. The movement startles Hyungwon and makes his eyes pop open. Bleary eyes meet, yours equal parts confused and suspicious. âWhat do you mean? You took the night off, too? But itâs Fridayâthe clubâs gonna be packed.â
He levels you with a casual shrug. âYeah,â he says, sliding his hand up your arm thatâs around him, and stopping at your neck. His large hand completely covers your neck, long fingers splaying onto your cheek and winding into your hair. âI wanted to spend time with you, too.â He clears his throat. âIâve missed you.â Hyungwon can feel the steady pulse under your skin and he clears his throat again.
You smile, lean down to press a sweet kiss to his lips.
And another one.
And another.
And you would have rained more kisses on him had he not started coughing and turned his head away. The ache in Hyungwonâs throat wasnât that bad when he was asleep, but now that heâs awake, itâs irritating to the point of annoyance. He knows the thirst is his fault, but damn, would it kill him if he could have a peaceful morning (noon) with you before his body complains about being hungry?
He feels a hand smoothing down his back as the coughing goes down. He takes shaky breaths as he sits up and leans on the headboard. After a big exhale from him, you say, âAre you okay?â
Hyungwon looks at you and smiles tightly. âIâm fine. Just a bit hungry.â He sits up, only to scoot closer to you and wind an arm around your back. He rests his forehead on your shoulder as he talks, voice low and scratchy. âRan out of my supply and I forgot to call Kihyun about it, and itâs been a few days since I had a drink. And itâll be a couple more days before I can stop by the blood bank for my refills.â A cough.
Your arms are around his wiry frame, fingers running up and down his spine and making him drowsy. Heâs still tired and sleepy, but the thirst is keeping him awake.
âDo you want a drink?â you ask quietly. âFrom me?â
Hyungwon stills, a shiver running down his spine. Itâs not all the time he gets to drink from you; in fact, he makes it a point to not do it because he doesnât want to scare you off. Youâve been living together for six months, known each other for years before that, but he still worries, silently waiting for the day you decide that being with a vampire isnât worth it after all.
âNo, itâs fine,â he says. âIâm fine.â He pushes down the cough building in his throat.
You card your fingers through his long hair. âI know you try not to, but Iâm okay with it. You sound like youâre really hurting.â You rest your head against his. âWeâve done it before, and it didnât really hurt. And I trust you, Hyungwon.â
Hyungwon is tired. Is sleepy. The thirst isnât all that bad, but the coughing is aggravating his already dry throat. He hasnât gotten a sip of blood in five days and nothing else could quench this particular thirst quite as well.
A small cough. âAre you sure?â
Your head is still resting on his and he feels you nod. âYeah. Besides, IâŚâ You clear your throat before speaking. âI like it when you drink from me.â
The vampire freezes, not quite knowing what to do with this newly revealed information. Heâs not sure if what he feels right now is mild lust or genuine surprise. In the (very) rare times he drinks from you he thought he saw a twinkle of anticipation in your eyes, like youâve been craving it, too. He thinks maybe his view of himself is clouding whatever opinion you have of him, bad and good alike.
Hyungwonâs lips purse, trying to keep himself from laughing because he can tell youâre serious about this, just as worried about him as you are excited about the prospect of being bitten; itâs still a bit unbelievable. He finally raises his head and looks square at you.
âYouâre really okay with this?â he asks again. âYou really want me to drink from you?â He crosses his legs under the blankets and pulls you with the arm still around your back.
Sometimes you forget Hyungwon is so strongâhe doesnât make his strength known to you, unless you both need it a little rough in bed. Now, he practically lifts you onto his lap, emboldened by your declaration. You straddle him, sitting snugly with both his arms around you; your hands naturally find themselves on his broad shoulders.
âMhm,â you simply say, nodding your head. Adrenaline is running through your veins, and youâre sure Hyungwon can clearly hear how loud and fast your heart is beating right now.
It also seems like he can read your mind because he takes one of his hands and rests it softly against your chest, right over your heart.
You see him swallow. âYour heart is beating so fast,â he says, dragging his hand up to your neck, fingers soft on your skin, and you shiver. âYour pulse is racing.â Hyungwon is looking at you like youâre a meal he canât wait to devour. âYouâre really excited about this, arenât you?â
âYeah,â you say, even though you donât really know if what youâre feeling is excitement or embarrassment or lust of fear. You canât recall any of the previous times he fed from you being this tenseâit was always out of desperation and pain that he reached out to you for this, and despite this moment being along the same lines, itâs⌠very different.
The loose collar of your sweaterâone of his you pilfered long agoâis pulled to the side, and you shiver again as his fingertip brushes against your skin. Goosebumps raise on your arms as Hyungwon trails that single finger over your collarbone, up your neck again, to cup your chin and pull you in for a kiss.
His lips are gentle, but you can feel heâs holding back, trying to take it slow in case you change your mind. When you respond and bite his lip, he growls and pulls you by the back of the head to kiss you deeper. The arm around your back tightens, and you feel his fingers tangle in your hair as he angles your head the way he wants.
Tiny moans spill from your lips as Hyungwonâs tongue explores your mouth. When he pulls away, your sight is flooded with his red irises, gold specks swimming in the pool of his eyes that almost glow in the dark room. So chillingly beautiful.
Youâre breathing hard, unable to look away from Hyungwonâs captivating gaze. A thought passes through: No wonder humans just fall at their feetâwho could look away from such a mesmerizing sight?
âLast chance,â he mutters, wetting his plump bottom lip, his scarlet eyes fixed on your neck. âYou really want this?â
You card your fingers through his head and tilt his face up, dropping a kiss to his closed eyes, his nose, his pretty lips. You cup his cheek and give him a small smile. âDo it.â
Hyungwon takes a deep breath and kisses your cheek, trails his lips to nip your earlobe, and then lower⌠He goes slow, building up your anticipation, getting your heart rate up with every kiss and nip and suck.
He laves his tongue over a spot on your neck, and you let out a sigh, relaxing in Hyungwonâs firm hold. The hand still tangled in your hair guides you, tilting your head to the side. He noses at your neck and gives you a final soft kiss, before he draws his fangs and punctures your jugular.
You squeak in pain; the bite stings, but it goes away as fast as it came. You feel Hyungwon draw back his fangs and begin to suck, dragging his tongue over the wounds, and groaning low in his throat at the sweet taste of you.
It occurs to him how much he misses feeding from you. Because of the rarity of these occasions, your blood becomes a treat to him, a sort of delicacy that he deliberately denies himself of. It didnât take him too long after that first taste of you long ago, to realize that your blood is dangerously addicting.
Hyungwon focuses on drinking your blood, drinking in the small moans you make as he marks your soft skin. He feels your restless hands clawing at his back, the other winding through his long hairâpulling him close or pushing him away, you donât know.
Your senses are heightened and dulled; youâre acutely aware of every miniscule movement of Hyungwonâs lips on your neck, but the rest of your body feels like itâs floating. He groans against your skin and the vibrations send a jolt of lightning up your spine and you whimper.
Hyungwon immediately pulls back, worried he hurt you. His mouth is stained red. âAre you okay?â
Youâre nodding before he finishes, cupping his cheek with a hand. âIâm fine, Hyungwon.â You give him a small smile as he melts into your hand, one of his coming up to keep it there. âDid you want more?â
He shakes his head. âIâm feeling better now. Thank you, love.â He exhales, and you think he does look better than earlierâhis skin is brighter, the bags under his eyes are gone, and heâs even breathing more easily. âLet me go clean you up,â he says, and lifts you gently off him, setting you down on the soft comforter just in front of him. He pats your knee before getting up and padding to the bathroom.
You gaze at him as he leaves, the sight of his model-like figure waddling like a penguin amusing. Hyungwon stops at the door and turns to you, smiling at you softly.
He returns a minute later, warm damp washcloth in hand, mouth clean and eyes a lovely brown. He sits at the edge of the bed and cleans your neck with gentle swipes. The bleeding has stopped and the wound is closed, but the surrounding skin is blooming with black and purple bruises. Hyungwon clicks his tongue. âIâm sorry, love. The biteâs gonna leave a mark.â
You carefully tap the wounds, smoothing fingertips over the raised marks. They sting a bit, but it feels more like the soreness after getting a vaccine shot than anything. âItâs okay, love. Theyâll heal over the weekend.â You catch his lips in a soft kiss. âIâm glad youâre feeling better.â
He sets the bloody rag on the nightstand and moves closer to you, kissing you back, cradling your neck for support as he coaxes you to lie on the bed. You smile through the kiss, giggle as you wind your arms around his neck.
âThank you,â he mumbles against your lips. âYou looked so beautiful earlier⌠Thank you for letting me do that.â
You hum. âAnytime, you need, babe. I enjoyed it.â
Hyungwon is propped above you, a thigh slotted between yours. Lazy, slow kisses against the soft sheets seems like the perfect activity for the rest of the day. But you have other plans.
âI gotta admit, though,â you said, brushing his long bangs from his eyes. âThat was⌠kinda hot.â You try to fight a smile, embarrassed at the admission, despite the compromising position you were in just minutes before.
Hyungwon chuckles, ducks his head to press a soft kiss to the puncture marks, the underside of your jaw, your earlobe. âI didnât expect you to be so into it,â he whispers, his baritone voice seeping into your bones and making you shudder.
You laugh loud at that. âWell, my boyfriend is a hot vampire, what did you think was gonna happen?â
Hyungwon laughs with you, rests his forehead on yours and kisses you again. He buries his face into your neck, the unmarked side, and snakes his arms around your back and rolls you to your sides.
Fingers trace mindless shapes on his back, play with his long hair thatâs tangled from your restless hands earlier, relax in the quiet of the afternoon. Your heads are at the foot of the bed, legs tangled together. From the top of Hyungwonâs head, you can just barely see the sun peeking through a slit between the dark curtains, but all you want to do is sleep.
Youâre close to dozing off when Hyungwon suddenly speaks. Three words. Your favorite.
âI love you.â He squeezes you slightly and breathes in your scent.
You smile and reply, âI love you, too.â
The world outside your window keeps turning; the weather looks nice today. But youâre not stepping out, not when your whole world is right here, snuggled in your arms.

âWell, this is most unfortunate.â
Venti could already feel the caffeine in his systems fuel his flight-or-fight response as he saw not one but two of his roommates standing outside the library.
He really needed a drink and pronto.
This was supposed to be his shining moment; the ballad to end all ballads; the righteous bardâs claim to a golden princeâs heart after their loveless rendezvous.
Venti had finally gotten the courage to ask Aether out to the Ludi Harpastum Dance â one of the most anticipated events in the entirety of their university. It was known as a Mondstadtian custom that he himself absolutely adored for its flowers, games, cuisines, and especially romantic atmosphere.
It was going to be perfect, really.
But no, Barbatos above and mighty, these â unsultry fiends decided to rain over such a wonderful parade.
âAgreed.â He shot a half-hearted glare at the white-haired male next to him, who had decided to dress-up from his usual plain tees and jeans.
Instead, Kazuha was wearing a half-buttoned black blazer (one that Venti swore was his, mind you) with black skinny jeans and a white polo-shirt. His hair was tied tighter than his usual lopsided ponytail, and Venti swore the otherâs glasses had never been cleaner.
Now, though Venti was quite ecstatic to see his friend out of his usual horrendous fashion-style, he was visibly irked by the bouquet of Carnations in Kazuhaâs arms.
âMove. Youâre blocking the entrance.â The other two broke from their staring contest to find slitted amber hues.
For as long as Venti knew Xiao, even the Contemporary Music major knew his roommate looked good in a turtleneck.
And unfortunately for him, Xiao knew that too. Â
Sporting a sleeveless dark green turtleneck and a black leather jacket fastened firmly around his waist, Xiao glared from behind the brown, large toy dragon plushie he was hugging.
âUh excuse me.â Venti chirped, a hand to his hip to assert his dominance as their senior. âI was here first, mind you. Now buzz off.â
Xiao cocked a brow at him. âDonât tell me youâre bringing in food to a library.â
The braided boy gawked at him before guiltily looking down at the two boxes of doughnuts in his hands. Boxed in pastel green and white, his warm, delicious, better than what his other roommates could ever bake in their entire life, homemade desserts stared back in shame at the thought of being left behind.
âOf course not!â
Kazuha and Xiao did not believe him.
âOf courseâŚâ The Inazuman began before moving past Venti. âNow please excuse me, I need to speak with-â
âWo ho ho there, Kaedehara, where do you think youâre going?â Venti and Xiao moved to grip each of his wrists. If Kazuha had not known any better, he would think they were shackles by how deathly their holds were.
Venti gave him a light smile. As if heâs going to let this bleach-streaked, toothpaste-hogger fiend anywhere close to his date to the-
âYour date?â Xiao started.
Whoops, did he say that out loud?
Venti turned to his supposed ally as he released Kazuhaâs hand. However, despite his fumble, the Cheshire grin on his lips still slashed through. âYeah. My date to the Ludi Harpastum Dance.â
If looks could kill, Venti would be six feet under.
âIsnât it quite bold of you to assume heâd want ⌠you?â Kazuha began, scanning him up and down.
âI am offended!â Damn, the senior could feel ten years being subtracted from his time on earth. âAnd yes I do! Unlike both of you, Iâve known Aether the longest. From all the way ever since he moved here, so that makes me his best friend.â
The other two were not convinced.
âYeah. Friend.â Venti wanted to hurl something hard into Xiaoâs smirk. âAnd arenât you more mature than that? For such an old man, youâd think youâd be past using the length of a relationship to measure its worth.â
âI agree with Xiao.â Kazuha hissed from behind, and Venti almost held a high grin at knowing why he was so defensive. Kazuha only had a month in his little pool of Aether interactions, so he knew he stood no chance if that was the criterion. âOneâs closeness mustnât be measured by how much â but rather how well â that time spent together was.â
Venti rolled his eyes.
âYeah, yeah, sure, whatever.â
Honestly, he had not expected this. Especially not from these two.
Venti had always assumed that Xiao wanted nothing to do with relationships, especially since Xiao had made it quite crystal clear to anyone that had tried making moves on him that he was not interested. Same goes for Kazuha, who seemed to be more inclined to pour his focus into his studies in Literature rather than pursuing a love life.
But alas, here they are.
âExcuse me.â The three snap out of their heated staring contest to find a mop of kempt blond hair behind them.
Albedo stared at the three suspicious figures with a raised brow. As the junior librarian of the campus, it was his job to make sure students were not loitering outside to cause a mess.
âYouâre keeping others from entering. If you have no business here, could you please go back to your dormitories.â His eyes shift to the pastries in Ventiâs arms. âNo food inside.â
Venti could just hear the snickers from behind him.
âRight, of course.â He started. âSorry, Albedo.â
The three would have moved to allow the blond entrance had Kazuha not seen the striking figure painted diligently on the canvas in Albedoâs arm.
âWait.â The albino held a hand to Albedoâs shoulder. âThat paintingâŚâ
The bright crimson on Albedoâs cheeks was already a dead giveaway.
Venti and Xiao stopped in horror before peering over Albedoâs shoulder. Ah shit.
Drawn with the precision only the famed Kreideprinz could attain was a figure basked in golden locks. The figureâs face was turned away ever so slightly from the viewer, framed by light bangs as soft eyes gazed longingly into the sunset behind them. But even without seeing any other details, the two already knew who this was.
Suddenly, a plushie and a batch of doughnuts just felt sad.
Albedo turned to face the trio, shamefully hiding the portrait behind his figure.
âYou like Aether?â Venti began.
âYes, and what of it?â Albedo brought his jacketâs sleeve to his mouth, covering the bright blush he was harboring. âI donât believe that I have any reason to be quite ashamed of suchâŚand for you to be so scrutinizingâŚâ
The three stared at him like kicked puppies.
âWhy are you staring at me like that?â
Albedo stopped and looked at the gifts in their hands.
âAh.â
The weight of the situation just immediately dawned on the four.
âIt seems the captor of ours hearts knows no restraint.â Kazuha sighed wistfully.
Xiao said nothing, but a nod was sufficient.
ââŚAre you all here to also ask him to the dance?â Albedo leaned on the door.
Even without an answer, he already knew.
âWe canât just go in there.â Xiao sighed. âItâll end in a disaster, trust me.â
âBut we cannot just let such an opportunity pass.â Venti saw how Kazuha was almost ready to barge in the doors for himself.
âRight, right, calm down there, heâs not going anywhere.â Venti offered.
Albedo moved to turn around, and the three watched him peer through the libraryâs wooden doors.
There seated amongst several stacks of books was their culprit. Aether had a textbook over his head and a whale pillow under his folded arms. With how slow his chest was rising, the four knew he was asleep.
âI should scold him next time. The library is not his bedroom.â Albedo smiled fondly at the figure, and the other three could only stare in defeat.
There was no way they could just barge in there and disturb his peace like that. Especially not when he looks so exhausted. Aether would just be overwhelmed by all their invitations, and the last thing they wanted was to be a burden to their beloved.
âSo, now what?â Venti moved out of the way, glancing in confusion at the other three.
Kazuha and Xiao shared a look, but it was Albedo that first opened his mouth.
âWe should take him to a date. A proper one. One from each of us. And one where we could help him alleviate his stress and show him a good time.â
The three stopped in consideration.
Albedo continued. âThink about it. Heâs quite exhausted. If our feelings for him are genuine, then we should be willing to console him when he needs us the most. And only then â perhaps -Â he can decide who he wishes to take to the dance.â
Venti had wished his first date with Aether were under different circumstances.
But at the same timeâŚhe isnât against the thought of spoiling Aether silly. Even if it is shared sentimentally with three other people.
After a moment, it was Kazuha that gave an opinion. âBut we should set ground rules. If the purpose of this date to help Aether unwind, it is imperative that none of us ask him to the dance.â
âWhy?â Xiao crossed his arms. âThen wouldnât that just render our dates pointless?â
âNot quite.â Kazuha offered a smile. âAetherâs happiness should come first.â
Xiao agreed in a heartbeat.
âOkay, letâs go with that.â Venti smiled at the prospect.
Yeah, Aetherâs happiness is the topmost priority. And if none of them could provide that for Aether, then Venti thinks that none of them (himself included) are worthy of Aetherâs kindness!
âButâŚâ His thoughts blank. âCan I go last?â
âWhy?â Albedo raised a brow.
âMy paycheck doesnât come until next Thursday.â
If his peers had one thing in common, it was how stupid they could make someone feel just by staring.
âI had to cut back time for my classes, okay? Sheesh!â Venti argued.
âThen thatâs settled.â Albedo sighed.
âMay I go first?â Kazuha offered, and though none of the other males seemed to object, Xiao was quick to reply with a sharp âwhyâ. The albino bashfully chuckled. âThere is a musical I have been meaning to bring him to that is in three days. It would be a shame to miss it.â
There were no objections.
Albedo raised an open palm, only to be met with several blank stares.
âA form of contract. May the best man win.â
The blonds lips were quirked upward slightly, and though apprehensive, Venti shook his hand.
Venti wasnât the smartest person, but he wasnât dumb either.
He may not know a lot when it comes to studies, but he knows one thing.
When these three wanted something, they would break the earth just to get their way.
âIndeed! May the winds guide you in your endeavor.â
But it also takes one to know one.

PC:1.69.54.1020 / Mac: 1.69.54.1220 Console: Version 1.35 Happy Holidays Simmers! Itâs time to go back in to Create a Sim! Where in this update you will find 100+ new skin tones, customization sliders for skin tones and makeup, and three improved base game hairstyles! Every skin tone now has a value slider that allows you to change the light to dark value of that skin tone, unlocking a much wider variety of skin tone options for you to play with! You will also find that our skin tones are now filterable to warm, cool, and neutral tones (as well as miscellaneous that covers our occult skin tones).
The new makeup sliders add more choices and opportunities for you to customize your Sims, and express your Simâs style! Hue, saturation, value or brightness, and opacity are now available to modify on the makeup. We have locked some of the sliders where it did not provide an optimal experience or make sense for the makeup. Expect us to continue our work on these issues into the future to provide you with more. In addition to the customization opportunities provided, you can also save custom swatches as you tweak your sliders to get the perfect look. When you click on the swatch (for skin tones and makeup) as you modify the sliders, you will have an opportunity to save your custom settings, so you can re-use it later without having to remember your perfect looks! Did we mention that we made some hair updates? We did - we updated a base game child hair (cfHair_BraidedPonyTail), and we added a second version of that hair that removes the baby hairs (cfHair_BraidedPonyTailPlain). And we updated a base game male hair that you may find difficult to recognize from the original hair (ymHair_flatTopTextured)!
We have updated the Main Menu!... Again! The idea behind this change is to create a more cohesive experience and give Packs a more proper space as we continue to grow our content lineup. As a nice bonus, we highlighted the Gallery in a more meaningful way to inspire you.

Now onto the fixes:
Sims 4
Sketching so much that the Digital Sketch Pad just quit on you? Never fear! Freelancer Sims that use the Digital Sketchpad will now be able to complete designs without being reset abruptly.
Happy Birthday to all! Sims will now properly Age Up. Adulting is hard but they will make it, donât worry.
Fixed an issue in which Doors, Windows, and Arches had cutouts when being reflected in Mirrors. Rorrim Rorrim no eht llaw, ohw si eht tseriaf erutaef fo meht lla?
Sims that do not have the Fishing Skill, or have not been Fishing at all, will not get notifications about identifying Fish. THEY WERE FISHING WITH THEIR MINDS.
The following careers have added the âTake Vacation Dayâ option, yay!Editor Russkii note: I didnât want to add each line in each pack for this fix, it would have looked weird and robotic so that is why I chose to do one bullet point for all in this section.
Child Sims will no longer forget they are in their Sleepwear when they go to school. Though in these times of Work and School from Home, I donât blame them one bit.
The Sweet Escapes Country Toilet will no longer be Comfortable AND Uncomfortable at the same time⌠There can only be one!
Sims with the Best Selling Author Aspiration can now complete their task of writing 3 Best Sellers.
Fixed an issue in which resized objects would disappear when they were part of downloaded Gallery items.
We revised our Careers (Pack specific and not) and we made sure there were no Chance Cards that were repeated constantly.
We noticed we had added the option to Clean Up Toddler on kitchen and bathroom sinks for both Toddlers and Children by mistake, so we removed it for both age groups from the sink⌠but how would have they fit? Like⌠how? These are the questions that keep me up at night.
Build Snowpal interaction is no longer available on non-natural ground (For Simmers that own Seasons and/or Snowy Escape). That's why it's called a Snowpal, not a Floorpal!
Gardener (Seasons)
Military (Strangerville)
Lifeguard for Teens and Conservationist (Island Living)
Law, Education, and Engineer (Discover University)
Civil Designer (Eco Lifestyle).
Get to Work
We made a clarification on the Xenophilia moodlet when interacting with Alien Sims. It should no longer say âFrom Discovering Aliensâ but now it correctly reads âFrom Interacting with Aliens.â
Fixed an issue in which childbirth was not possible if Simmers changed the color swatches of the Surgery Tables. Now listen, I have heard about renting whole hospital wings for a birth in real life and other eccentricities, but this⌠was really something.
Get Together
Male Sims will no longer get Pregnant after receiving calls from NPC Sims.
City Living
NPC Sims will now text and call with invitations to Festivals. I personally welcomed the calm and quiet of my phone not beeping about constantly. But I canât miss a Festival!
Sims rejoice! Yard sale customers will no longer invade their Home Lots and use Household objects. It is a Yard Sale⌠OUT in the yard, not an Open House.
Did you ever regret trusting some Sims enough to give them your apartment keys to constantly get visits from them for Milk and Juice? You can rest assured that they will no longer visit you for this purpose. I think some neighborly love is appreciated, but this went beyond the proverbial âMay I have a cup of sugar?â type of situation.
Fixed an issue in which interactions to participate on GeekCon contests would not appear when interacting with objects.
We decided to give a bit more clarity when displaying the location of Festivals, so now it will display as âNear <insert location>â and not a distinct location that is not entirely correct. This is true for Festivals in Snowy Escape as well.
Cats and Dogs
Pets will no longer sleep in random places when told to sleep on their Pet beds. In my world they can sleep where they are most comfortable, my conspiracy⌠allegedly.
Seasons
Sims can now Shower in the Rain⌠Jury is still out on Singing and Dancing.
Sims will no longer âloseâ their shovels when performing other autonomous activities while performing the interaction âShovel Snow.â
Our friendly neighborhood Snowpal has been properly renamed to Chill from Chil. Everything I knew before was a lie⌠a LIE!
Ever felt like the Holiday spirit has just been too much to handle, and Father Winter starting to show up everywhere and not letting you do much of anything getting a bit⌠out of hand? Fear not! Father Winter will stop replicating himself* to spread holiday cheer. *Note this fix is not entirely retroactive, new saves should see this without issue. Existing saves will correct themselves over time.
Get Famous
Duck Security SCROO9E Super XL Smart Vault will no longer disappear after Sims Woohoo in it⌠you can say Woohoo can be romantic and magical, but maybe not to this extent?
NPCs from the Actor Career sometimes would never show on Set, making gigs impossible to complete. We've spoken with their union reps and everyone has agreed to stop this ridiculous strike. What were they striking about? Was there even a Strike? We may never know.
Island Living
Mermaids and other Occults should no longer be able to make hybrid occults. How were they making them? Oh boy, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to give you the mermaid-birds and spellcaster-bees talk.
Randomly generated Mermaid Sims will no longer be seen without some features in affected Simmer Saves. However this fix is not retroactive, so it should be seen fixed in new saves.
Pizza delivery to Lagoon Look Lot has been fixed to arrive promptly. This is Sulani Deep Lagoon Pizza, home of the 2x1 Mermadic Kelp Pizza and the Salty Llama Combo, may I take your order? <Descriptive Simlish on the line> Uh huh⌠uh huh⌠<Indescribable Simlish on the line> Yes, we now can ACTUALLY deliver to Lagoon Look⌠<Interrogative Simlish on the line> Yes, we told our delivery Sims that they need to deliver it there and not keep the pizza for themselves⌠like give it to the actual client. <Surprised Simlish on the line>
Discover University
Has this ever happened to you? Your Sim is ready to make an offering to the Sprites only to find a crystal stuck without being able to move it? No longer a problem, Sims now can remove offerings so all their rituals can resume. Sprites rejoice.
We fixed an issue for our Console Simmers that wouldnât allow them to close the Humanoid Robotâs Behavior Module Menus correctly.
Fixed an issue that would cause items to be repossessed when loans were fully paid. That is NOT how it worked Repo Person⌠NOT how it worked.
Sims with Research & Debate Skill 3 or higher will no longer be able to âConvince toâ with Toddler Sims.
Masquerade Secret Society Masks are now properly unlocked in Create a Sim when joining the Secret Society.
Fixed an issue in which Heckle animation was sometimes not being performed autonomously by Sims while playing Ping Pong.
Eco Lifestyle
Fixed an issue that triggered the Off-the-Grid notifications after traveling to different Lots in Evergreen Harbor, even when they are not labeled as Off-the-Grid.
We spoke to all Eco Inspectors, and they have agreed that they should NOT be charging the Energy efficient appliances fine if your appliances are fully upgraded to be super efficient and amazing. I mean all that work and still get fined? Not in this house!
Fixed an issue in which some placeholder text was showing in notifications after Dumpster Diving.
The Americana Station Speakers will now play Music⌠as the prophecy foretold.
When the We Wear Bags N.A.P is active, Grim Reaper will not be partially invisible when appearing on a Lot. Grim Reaper contributes!
Living the No Appliance lifestyle? Weâve got news for you! Sims will no longer be penalized for not having âEco-Friendly Appliances.â No appliances, no fines!
Snowy Escape
Vending Machine Canned Soups and Drinks wonât spoil anymore. Time to stock up!
Sims can no longer go on Hikes while holding their Toddlers.
Space Heaters will now be able to be placed on Lots from Inventory. Sharing the warmth everywhere!
Fixed an issue in which the Shoe Removal Sign in 5-1-2 Kiyomatsu was not working properly. We also added Shoe Removal Signs in 5-1-1 Kiyomatsu and 2-4-2 Wakabamori.
Sims will now be more visibly furious when having the appropriate furious sentiment toward other Sims. âYes, Iâm mad!... No! This IS my furious face!â
Fixed an issue with some animations that would stutter while Snowboarding or Skiing. We also made sure that Sims with a high level of those skills would not always choose the Bunny Slopes.
Izzy Fabulousâ Star Simmi Rank was just too fabulous so we had to correct it to be one star less than displayed. Donât worry Izzy, you are a full 4 stars in my book, you are that fabulous to me.
After much debate of whether it is the Cave Shrine or the Mountain Shrine for Hiking destinations we finally decided to just call it Mountain Shrine.
We revised the Snoop-Proof Bamboo Blinds and it is now possible to dropâem like theyâre hot with the Thousand Words Window.
NPC Sims will no longer âtake overâ the Slopes for themselves for an indefinite period of time, now they will be sharing with all Sims the joys of the Slopes.
Fixed an issue in which Sims would get highlighted in the Sentiment Panel as if receiving new Sentiments every time traveling is involved.
Sims with Rock Climbing Skill 7, or higher, are able to autonomously climb the Tall Wall (Such tall! So much wall!). There is no need to not face what makes you uncomfortable⌠autonomously.
Had a chat with Yamachan and asked if he was ok, he seemed to start random conversations and then randomly say goodbye without reason. We are happy to report that he is OK now and will try not to do that. Give us a hug Yamachan.
Food Stalls at Mt. Komorebi Festivals wonât be closing shop randomly during Festival hours anymore. <guitar and piano intro> Closing time, open all the Stalls and eat all the food in the world...Closing time, turn all the lights on and let Yamachan greet you heeeereâŚ
Create a Sim asset ymHat_EP10HelmetGoggles has been fixed to no longer display clipping around the neck area as well as we made sure no facial hair is removed when wearing this asset.
Dine Out
Experimenting with photo frames will no longer use the same picture of an Experimental Meal when displayed.
Hot Pot meals are now part of Restaurant Menus! I miss the times I would go to eat Hot Pot at a restaurant. One of my favorites has a conveyor belt that carries your fixings never leaving your table for a thing. *happy sigh*
Vampires
Vampire Sims will no longer be affected by temperature, so they won't be constantly obsessed with lighting fireplaces trying to get warm.
