LMAO IM BORED TOO so uh a zukka theatre gays au?? Like where the gaang is involved in a play/school play and zukka stuff ensues? I always imagined zuko being the cute stagehand/stage manager who has a mega crush on one of the actors but (wrongly) assumes he doesn’t have a chance; because Sokka can’t seem to take his eyes off of the cute guy on tech crew who has a knack for lighting.

I remember I had a full theatre gays AU written out once but I can’t find the lost and it was different than this, so let’s do some headcanon-ing!

Zuko is the stagehand and Sokka is a lead actor, and Zuko LOVES SOKKA’S ACTING

Sokka is an Oblivious Idiot™ and doesn’t have a clue.

I like to think that Zuko and Sokka met when they started doing rehearsals n stuff, and Sokka is also madly in love with him now and worries way too much about if Zuko thinks he’s a good actor.

It starts throwing him off and the director is like “Sokka... what’s up with your acting lately? You’ve been... weird.”

And Sokka’s having an internal crisis like “HOW CAN I ACT LIKE IM IN LOVE WITH THIS GIRL WHEN I HAVE A BIG FAT HOMOSEXUAL CRUSH ON THE STAGEHAND”

Zuko’s actually been friends with Katara and Aang for a while, and Katara accidentally lets it slip that Sokka talks about Zuko a lot.

Zuko’s like “what?? Me??!” and Aang is slowly dying bc he knows they like each other (he’s not an IDIOT). He tells Zuko that if he likes him he should ask him out.

Zuko gets all defensive like “I don’t like him!!” And Aang is like “suuuuuurrreeee ;D”

Zuko is invited over for dinner by Katara one day to find that it was a TRICK to get him to interact with Sokka. They’re sat right next to each other and Zuko can’t stop staring at him and trying to flirt, but Sokka doesn’t even notice bc he’s too occupied trying not to mess this up.

Katara and Aang share a lot of looks that say these idiot really don’t get it, do they?”

Katara tells Toph, who tells Suki, and they’re all like “operation Zukka is go.”

I feel like everyone but Katara would be in theatre (Katara is in on the drama and gossip tho bc she’s dating Aang and friend with all these drama kids) so during rehearsals they try to push Sokka and Zuko together, then report back to Katara.

It gets to the point where Toph, frustratesd and DONE, pulls Zuko off to the side and says to him “Listen here, Sparky. Sokka likes you. You like Sokka. Ask. Him. Out.”

And Zuko’s like “SOKKA LIKES ME??!?!”

“YES, YOU IDIOT!”

Zuko builds up the nerve to ask Sokka out, and Sokka is dumbfounded and ecstatic but he’s trying to play it off like he’s cool even though he’s not and he knows it.

Zuko doesn’t notice. Zuko thinks Sokka is the coolest.

It goes like this:

“Would you want to maybe... go out and eat. Dinner. With... me...?”

“You mean, like... with you? With you with you?”

“Uh... I think so. Yeah. With me. Together.”

“Yeah! I mean *cough* yeah that sounds cool. When?”

They begin dating and Zuko cannot stop telling Sokka how much he loves his acting.

Theatre Gays are finally together and Katara can die in peace.
