Something I don't get regarding The Elite. People keep saying how they can't wait for Kenny to see Don Callis's true colors and how The Young Bucks have always known the type of person Don is and whatnot. But the thing is they all knew and still chose to align with him. They willingly did all the things they've done and made their own choices, so I don't really buy the narrative that Kenny and the Bucks are the victims here.
And I have a hard time sympathizing with Kenny when he's the one that has allowed all this to happen in the first place and has let it go on for as long as it has. Like how could he have really been that stupid to fall for Don's BS on Dynamite this past week, especially after he saw Hangman Page leaving in the ambulance with Matt and Nick? Also, how can Matt and Nick's treatment of Brandon Cutler be excused?
Overall, the only ones I see as the real victims and who deserve any sympathy are Hangman Page and Brandon Cutler, but more Page. I'm not saying any of this, because I don't like The Elite. I actually do like them, but I've just had trouble getting behind this storyline with them and it just wasn't for me. They are better as babyfaces, in my opinion.
SORRY IM SO LATE!!!!!
I love this ask so much omg okay let’s get into it!!!!!!!!!!!! This is all my opinion and my interpretation, and let’s remember that while The Elite are some of the greatest long term story tellers in the business, long term story telling in wrestling is NEVER a perfect art form. They can’t have every detail that is recalled be perfectly woven in and that’s okay!!!!
So here’s the thing, the Bucks not trusting Don but letting Kenny bring him in anyway isn’t so much about Don as it is about Kenny and his happiness. Don has been in Kenny’s entire life pretty much, and the Bucks know that and to me it’s more that they have seen what happens to the group when a “it’s us or him” situation has come up in the past, and they’re all so emotionally immature that they’d rather avoid that kind of ultimatum
HOWEVER. I think the bucks are waiting to see that Don doesn’t have Kenny’s best interest. Right now Kenny thinks Don will work for ALL of them when the truth of the situation is that Don is only in it for HIMSELF. He’s an old school carny scumbag and no he doesn’t even actually care about Kenny unless he is useful, which has been the case for the last few years.
The bucks know that if they try to push Kenny and Don apart, Kenny may not react well to it because that’s what always happens. BUT if they wait it out and let him see it on his OWN then he can leave of his own accord. They never have to make him choose.
NOW, the thing about Kenny and Hangman, is that their issues are different than Hangman’s issues with the Bucks.
Being tag team partners is a deep bond but also a business partnership. You are in it because you want to win championships together. Kenny is very used to having a partner who operates completely at his level and with a mirror image of himself and with the exact same ideals and style inside of a ring. Yes he can do minor matches with others, but if you look at the work of him and Ibushi and him and Hangman you can see how different those partnerships are.
Hangman wasn’t at a place where he felt he had it in himself to carry the team with the same level as Kenny. I feel like people forget often that Hangman was a major witness to the entire golden lovers reunion. He watched what it did to the bucks and to Cody and the whole of bullet club, but then also how great the reunion was for Kenny. Imagine having to live up to that???
At the end of the day, i think they all THINK they're on thin ice with each other, and nobody wants to push anyone over the edge, which isnt the most healthy, but unhealthy co-dependency is the Elite's whole thing lol
