Ask parfum ! Bonjour, camarade addict de parfumerie trop chère. Je cherche en parfum la rose parfaite, qui ressemblerait à une rose végétale et pas à un bonbon. La seule que j'ai trouvé pour l'instant c'est "La fille de Berlin" qui a ce côté métallique, vert, de la vraie rose. Mais peut-être as-tu d'autres références ? Lutens est souvent cher... Je ne veux pas sentir le loukoum à la rose, mais je ne trouve que ça ! Merci de ton aide :)

Aaah, enfin quelqu’un qui comprend les allusions subliminales ! J’avais peur d’avoir été trop subtile.

Toutes à notre communion, prenons donc une minute d’exergue pour pleurer de conserve sur nos habitudes somptuaires : un, deux, trois, ouiiin.

Ceci étant posé, je dois dire que le loukoum en parfumerie, ça peut être très bien, à condition d’être Traversée du Bosphore et d’inclure quelques éclats de pistache sur un accord cuiré complètement renversant et cent fois plus complexe que ce que l’arôme sucré et entêtant du parfum laissait supposer – l’un des meilleurs jus de Bertrand Duchaufour, sans doute, à traquer sur EBay parce que L’Artisan Parfumeur vient d’en cesser la production pour des raisons qui ont échappé à tout le monde.

Sinon, il existe une rose « gourmande » incontournable, une vraie confiture de pétales malheureusement inimitée (je n’ai jamais compris pourquoi !) en l’espèce de Nahéma, l'autre princesse de Guerlain – Shalimar était celle de Jacques, elle, née en 1979, est celle de Jean-Paul – et une des premières roses modernes, au fond, avec cet accord fruité caractéristique en tête – une pêche semblable à celle de Mitsouko, ici associée à une note verte presque croquante, qui s’épanouira bientôt en jacinthe. Bon, personnellement, j’ai beaucoup de mal avec ses aldéhydes qui me font toujours un effet cireux mais c’est là une hyperosmie qui n’atteint pas la plupart des gens. Le vrai défaut du parfum, à l’heure actuelle, c’est sa reformulation et son affadissement inévitable – à noter qu’il avait disparu du catalogue de Guerlain, lui aussi, mais qu’on vient d’annonce son grand retour, en novembre, dans le flacon de L’Heure bleue et de Mitsouko, parmi les « Légendaires », vraisemblablement avec une hausse significative de son prix...

Mais ne nous égarons pas. Encore que parler finances ne nous éloigne pas tant que ça du sujet Lutens – ainsi que tu l’évoquais tout à l’heure, l’oncle Serge ne distribue pas exactement sa production. Je ne vais pas du tout t’aider si je te conseille Sa Majesté la rose, qui est la vraie rose réaliste de Lutens, ce qu’À la nuit est au jasmin. Je ne déteste pas La Fille de Berlin mais je déteste généralement les notes métalliques dans un parfum et même si j’aime assez l’idée de restituer par-là la piqûre sanglante du doigt sur l’épine, je crains le résultat. Moi, je préfère mille fois la rose en majesté, opulente mais végétale, ainsi que sa version mature, entêtante et nocturne qu’est Rose de Nuit. Le grand problème que Sa Majesté la rose vient de passer dans la « collection Palais-Royal », disponible uniquement à Paris ou sur le Net, et qui flaconne 75ml (sans pompe !) à 190€. Rose de Nuit n’ayant jamais quitté les « flacons de table » à ma connaissance. En d’autres termes, tout le monde traque Sa Majesté dans son ancienne version, le flacon « export » rectangulaire, sur la Baie ou sur Etsy ou Vinted. Qui achète du Lutens neuf, à part les touristes en provenance des Émirats ?!

Moins (faussement) soliflore, une autre légende parmi les roses végétales réalistes, chez un autre monument du grand chic parisien : L’Ombre dans l’eau de Diptyque raconte le réveil matinal d’un beau jardin d’agrément au cœur de l’été. Suivant les peaux et les sensibilités, le cassis un peu amer prendra le dessus sur la rose, et d’aucuns trouveront la rose plus ou moins naturelle. Je dis qu’il faut absolument l’essayer (et préférer l’eau de toilette à l’eau de parfum, ce qui est souvent le cas chez Diptyque.) pour se faire une idée.

Délicate également, pas dans la fourchette basse des prix non plus, il y a la rose anglaise par excellence, celle de Penhaligon’s : Elisabethan Rose. Elle avait disparu un moment, je crois qu’elle est rééditée, j’ignore si la formule a changé mais l’ancienne avait le charme élégant de la porcelaine, tirant sur le géranium – beaucoup de senteurs à la rose proviennent du géraniol, un monoterpène qui comme son nom l’indique figure à profusion dans le chémotype des géraniums, en particulier le Bourbon, ou géranium rosat. Le meilleur exemple en est un Diptyque magnifique, Geranium Odorata, qui peut d’ailleurs constituer une alternative intéressante sur ton chemin vers la rose ultime... Comme alternative à Elisabethan Rose, en revanche, je peux recommander la très jolie English Rose de Yardley, une marque aux prix très aimables qui fait des eaux classiques toutes en politesse. Moins naturaliste que ce que tu cherches, mais très chic et garantie sans sucre.

Rose de Mai, de Jean-Claude Ellena pour Perris. Voilà un très joli duo de rose et de géranium, réchauffé et épicé par l’immortelle et soutenu par un musc élégamment floral. C’est extrêmement classique mais sans faute, sauf pour les ennemis du géranium, évidemment, mais ce n’est vraiment pas mon cas ! Et j’ai du mal à m’empêcher d’aimer le travail d’Ellena, surtout que les créations de Perris sont généralement de magnifiques reconstitutions-interprétations de matières premières nobles de la parfumerie, comme l’Ambre Gris, le Santal du Pacifique ou, ma foi, la rose de Grasse. Avec Jasmin de pays, Lavande Romaine et Mimosa Tanneron, Rose de Mai fait partie d’une collection consacrée aux fleurs de Grasse, ville d’enfance du parfumeur. Rose de Mai est sans nul doute la plus sage ; elle a une grande sœur en Rose de Taif, qui passé le géranium citronné de tête se consacre à l’huile de rose de Damas, la plus précieuse et la plus somptueuse de toutes. Définitivement une rose prise dans la serre d’un cheikh esthète et jaloux de ses fleurs, plutôt que la senteur un peu verte d’un buisson découvert au détour d’un jardin sauvage. Et ça, c’est vraiment Sa Majesté la Rose.
