With all the Google AI BS happening right now, I’m so happy to be using DuckDuckGo and desperately hope they never attempt something like this. I genuinely do not understand why Google went and thought “Oh! Surely feeding our LLM results from spaces on the internet where people can post quite literally anything is a marvelous idea, let’s implement this!”, especially since said LLM clearly cannot detect satire or joke posts if it isn’t clearly stated. Obviously, none of us should be taking anything the internet says seriously without fact checking, but I am vaguely concerned about how naive young children/older people who haven’t adapted to the magical world of the web are going to take things like this, for instance. Haven’t we learned our lesson from ChatGPT hallucinating the most random shit and not accepting “That’s incorrect” for an answer?

Who is your favorite sci-fi writer, nya?

That is a good question. I haven't read the "classics" since high school, and I really should again, but I remember Asimov being the GOAT for a reason. You above everyone should know how much I love robots :p

I'm almost done with Babylon 5, and Deep Space 9 is my favorite tv show after with madoka (perhaps B5 will become up there too? need to rewatch lol) so perhaps someone from those projects? On the other hand Ira Behr from ds9 is uh...not great, for several reasons, so maybe not.

I need to read more sci-fi! In general I need to read more books tbh, most of my free time is video games at this point, and the occasionaly movie/tv show. In terms of games I adore the work of the monolith soft xeno team...up through Xenoblade 1 at least. X, 2, and 3 were all more or less disapointing to me, for radically different reasons. Still, love a good sci-fi JRPG, even a "soft" sci-fi one.

...speaking of which I really need to play xenogears again. I didn't get very far in my first playthrough for personal reasons and from what I can tell it's the kind of game I'd go nuts over. Xenosaga too although I know that one is a bit harder to get into lol

And here I am now, left reeling after that cutscene at the tower campsite. Just...the music, the voice acting, the script, it all just came together perfectly. Seeing members of the party talk to each other outside of just the Keves and Agnus groups and their Ouroboros partners! Mio finally having that imminent mortality breakdown that Eunie and Manana accidentally started earlier with the Bright Figs! The way the music swelled and just kept getting louder and louder until it cut and Mio ran off during her and Noah's conversation! Even Lanz and Taion's little chat afterwards; you know that earlier in the story Lanz would've been super offended at Taion, but now he can just laugh it off. This game is so good, man. I love this character writing
