Nora shot off a quick text to Wes to let him know she was in their old smoking spot in the alley behind Neptune before taking the stray cigarette she'd found in the glove compartment of her car out from behind her ear to light it up. She couldn't say that she missed working at Neptune in any capacity, but Wes leaving soon did sort of mark the end of an era, and Nora was nothing if not nostalgic.

She'd been meaning to check on him anyway. Nora hadn't heard about the accident until the morning after — her phone had been dead since hour two at Country Night — but while she'd already made sure that Sterling and Liza were at least physically okay, she hadn't been able to have a proper conversation with Wes yet.

When the back door opened, she moved from her position leaned up against the wall to greet him with a hug. "Hey, dude," she said, taking a step back. She hesitated then, wondering if she should dive straight into her usually relentless questioning. No, she figured she'd start easy. "Last few days here, huh? 'bout time. You excited to finally be done?"

The response has been beautiful - like I can’t tell you how many wonderful messages I received from people who are openly queer and people who are not openly queer, which has been really amazing for me to see. I’ve received messages from firefighters who have said, “I’m not out and seeing this means the world to me.” I could never in a million years of expected to be getting those messages, so it’s very humbling and just a really amazing experience for me to get to be a part of that.
