there's a very underrated scene in COE where it shows rhiannon, gwen, and, alice fighting soldiers and trying to take back their kids (not exactly her kid, in gwen's case), and i just think it's one of the most devastating parallels in COE. they're all fighting, gwen's own child hasn't even formed a bump in her yet she's running for her and this little girl's life, both mica and steven were taken from their mother's arms. i don't know, i think it's the best portrayal of motherhood in the show, i liked that the scenes focused on the three of them.

"Rhi, I think I might be homophobic -" Ianto confessed.

Rhiannon stared at her brother. "What.? Explain, please. Because as far as I know you've never had any problems with gay people. So where's this coming from?"

"You know how I share a dorm with Jack?"

She nodded. Jack and Ianto had been best friends since nursery.

"Well we flirt often but as a joke, and I don't mind it. And sometimes he brings home guys- I once caught him and someone from our accounting course, a John Hart, making out on our couch. And I don't usually mind if he sees people, but seeing them just gave me a nauseous feeling. I lashed out a bit and he said I can't really say anything because when I was with Lisa I had her over and he said nothing. I said I was just having a bad day and didn't care who he kissed, but it just made him more upset. He said he's going to stay with Angelo. Then he asked if I would be fine if they did stuff together. I think he was just trying to rile me up but I said it was fine and went to bed for a bit until you came over while he left."

Rhiannon looked at Ianto, a slight smile on her face.

"I don't have a problem with other gay people, it's just when it comes to Jack kissing guys that it bothers me-

I don't want to be like this because what if he gets a boyfriendRhi why are you looking at me like that?" he asked, indignant.

"You know, you're an oblivious twpsyn. It's clear he's trying to make you jealous, and it worked. You have a crush on him, genius. You're not homophobic."

Ianto spluttered. "What now? Me, have a crush on Jack Harkness? I'm not gay!"

"No, but you could be bisexual, you know. It's not just straight or gay." She shook her head, amused.

Ianto thought over what she was saying, and it was like a lightbulb went off inside his head. "... you're right. I do have a crush on Jack, and I have been jealous of him kissing other guys.

Thanks Rhi. I'm going to talk to him when he comes back."

Jack came back the next day.

"Hi Ianto. Are you done being salty about me kissing other guys?"

Ianto nodded and apologized. "Wanna watch Bond and eat pizza together?"

Jack agreed.

After they finished the movie marathon, because nothing says romance like James Bond, Ianto decided to tell Jack about his conversation with his sister.

"it turns out I was just jealous," he blurted.

Jack looked at him, confused. "Jealous of...?"

"Of you kissing other guys. I'm not homophobic, just jealous. I um. I have a crush on you, Jack."

He laughed softly. "Oh Ianto-

You know, I was trying to make you jealous, because I have a crush on you, but with you being straight, I didn't think I had a chance. And all the flirting? That was real, at least on my end. But it seems you're not as straight as you thought."

"No, I'm not. I'm bi, but not ready to come out to others yet."

"That's fine. We'll take it slow, go at your pace."

"Are we okay?"

Jack nodded, and Ianto tackled him in a hug.

"Ianto, can we try something?"

Ianto nodded, and Jack kissed him gently. He was amused when Ianto's cheeks flushed deep red, but it was his turn to blush when Ianto proceeded to cover his face in kisses.

Over time, their relationship solidified, and Ianto was more comfortable with coming out to more people, as well as his family.

Jack was happy, because they were now an official couple, he had the boyfriend he never thought he would.

And it turned out Ianto didn't have a problem with Jack kissing guys, if it was him Jack was kissing.

Gwen Headcanons

she actually has curly/wavey hair but because it’s 2006 she constantly straightens it

She met Rose Tyler once, when they were both kids. Neither of them remember this

She also met Ianto when they were kids… they found a picture taken of both them plus Rhiannon

She has pictures of Owen, Tosh and Ianto in her house. She talks to them fairly regularly

She tells Anwen bedtime story’s about the team but not the alien stuff. Just silly things about them, like what pizza they liked or there little odd habits

She gave Anwen a little plush pterodactyl and named it after Myfanwy

She’s both Jack’ ancestor and descendant…. It was a weird day when they discovered that one.

Family Feud Nominations, Who is the Best Doctor Who Family

If I've missed a character out of one of the families let me know (within reason, I imagine all these families are massive in the EU, so prioritise tv or significant characters)

Currently, the only rule is no families may inculde anyone who is even ambiguously The Doctor, it'll get super complicated super fast imo

Any characters, eg River, who can link up multiple different families to create a single massive family unit will be treated on a case by case basis. If it is possible to pick one of the smaller family units that they are a part of to include them in while not including them in any of the others (in a way everyone will agree at least makes sense) they will be included in that family only, otherwise they will not be included

gwen and rhys attended ianto's funeral , shortly after the incident at thames house and jack saved the world by sacrificing his grandchild . gwen greeted rhiannon and johnny , rhiannon thanked gwen for attempting to help save the children from the military . during phased two of the british government's plan to mobilise and take the 10% of the poorest children in the uk that were to be given to the 456 . the funeral service was an intimate affair with only family and very select friends . . . gwen , rhys and andy . it was gwen's last public appearance in cardiff before she abandoned it for rhossili . gwen mourned the death of ianto , having a conversation with rhiannon after the service . gwen agreed to stay in contact with them for ianto's sake but it would have untraceable . gwen felt an enormous amount of guilt surrounding the death of ianto , having survived so much with him after owen and tosh .

gwen sent postcards to rhiannon and her family , as well as sending her one of torchwood's cash deposits so they could live more comfortably . the 456 incident changed gwen inherently , she was a few weeks pregnant at the time of ianto's funeral . having decided that gwen cooper had died in the events of september 2009 , gwen's death could never be dated . but she chose the alias to live as yvonne pallister . ianto's funeral was the turning point in her life , how much more death did she need to witness ? she's been to the funerals of all of her friends , younger friends . . . this was the cost of torchwood . she understood that .

dressed in black , she concealed her pregnancy from all of those outside of jack , rhys , andy , mary and geraint . the money she had sent to rhiannon was enough for ianto's niece and nephew as well , making sure that they would be loved and have the luxury of living by better means . it was the least she could do . ianto was gwen's rock after tosh and owen died , she confided quite a lot in him and saw him as a little brother figure . he was courteous , respectful , pragmatic , resourceful and of course , reliable . gwen still sported brunette hair at this point , not officially dyeing it until after anwen was born in 2010 . she would honour ianto's memory by her small act of decency , even though it would never be enough to bring him back .

on the car journey home , gwen spoke fondly of ianto and how brave he was . and out of all of torchwood three , he was the one constant pillar of stability in a world that had been turned upside down . he was always consistent , always so respectful , he was such an incredible man with a heart of steel . gwen had laid a wreath of lilies at his gravesite , something she would do on a yearly basis to remind herself of the sacrifices that had been made . his memory clings to her in a different way compared to tosh and owen , because ianto and gwen bonded through their heritage . they had a shared connection through culture , values , locality , speech and behaviour . she misses his ties the most .
