hello!!! i wanted to ask if u have a more detailed description (or just general inspo) for clems og outfit, particularly the dress and the corset?? i remember seeing a few asks abt their jacket a while back but not the rest of the fit but i might have just missed it🙈 and im sorry you have to deal w ppl being freaks abt them but i wanted to say that even though ive been id'ing as nb for a few years now your dedication to sticking to 'clems just being clem' in response to ppl fishing for their agab really helped me come to terms w the idea that i cant stop thinking abt whether i look masc or femme and instead just. be. consider this my love letter to you, dear author, and the characters you have created that now consume my every waking moment. oh. also. whats clementine's opinion on clementines

yeah i answered something before and showed their original "concept" art

this design is super basic though simply because i lack the drawing ability to really draw clem's clothes.

also i've learned that the bodice piece they're wearing is more like a serbian jelek than a corset:

though the embellishments on clem's are black embroidery on black fabric so it's not obvious unless you're looking very closely. i probably won't change the description in game or anything but this is exactly the kind of thing i was envisioning for their clothing when i designed them but, again, i lack the drawing ability, and ended up changing it, hahaha.

as for their dress, it's pretty plain, it's just a white dress that's tailored at their waist and the collar is meant to look similar to this, though it rises higher on their neck:

they also have the little gold ribbon they tied around the neck, too. also their dress buttons up the back, with the buttons stopping about halfway down.

and for the jacket, i kinda like all the different takes people have had with it, it's cool to see what people come up with. the jacket started out as a royal purple duster, but has been completely remade and is unrecognizable with what clementine has done to it.

i like to think they have one sleeve that looks something like this:

the embroidery is mainly gold but there are some other colors, too, and there are patches of various shades of purple, pink, and blue sewn in. the embroidery is particularly focused on their sleeves and the bottom of the jacket but there is some along the lapels and shoulders, too, and the bells are placed in a similar manner.

if you're familiar with critical role, it was mollymauk's jacket that kinda inspired clementine's, and this is how crazy his jacket looks:

unlike mollymauk, though, clem's is a bit more.... unrefined? like a lot of their embroidery is covering up patches and there are some spots where it's completely different fabric because they were just patching a tear or something and there will be random patterns and textures - it's not purposefully designed like mollymauk's is.

i like letting people go wild because honestly the jacket can be as ridiculous as you can imagine, hahaha. i don't really have any direct references, just lots of pretty embroidery and fabrics saved on pinterest, but hopefully this will give you more of an idea.

as for clem and clementines, i think they would like them :-) they would like peeling it and sharing it with people.

my newest tnp theory is that noel's shimmering makeup is a distracting maneuver to divert attention from the fact that it is physically impossible for white boots to actually stay white in winter without the use of magic💀

(i am coming up with crack theories to distract myself from all of the emotional damage that last updates reveal has caused me😭❤)

but also while im here and very excitedly and very patiently waiting for the next update i was wondering how much of an effect do our hunters choices have on our beloved equine companion?? is nightmare in danger bc the hunter cant keep their mouth shut???🥺🥺🥺

and don't worry horse will be fine. i'm not evil i promise... if you're in blackwater, mal has actually taken all of the horses out of the city to meet up with you later, and even though the hunter doesn't see them before she takes them, lea checks in with both gambit and horse.

in highfell you get reunited right in the beginning and are together for the rest of the chapter and while you get caught up in some trouble, all of the horses stay safe and out of the way.

How does magic work? Is it rare, or can everyone do it?

Magic used to be something that almost everyone could do, and technically it still is something almost everyone can do - just not as easily. 

Before the last Great War and before the sea witches of [insert capital city/country name here] caused their great calamity that separated them from the rest of the world, magic was more like sorcerer’s magic. Though not everyone could do it, it was innate for many, and though power levels varied, it didn’t require rigorous study to light a fire or make water move or whatever.

That being said, it’s theorized that the magic came from the spirit world, and since most stories of being able to pass between realms are so old that they seem to be as ancient as the Old City itself - with its towering ruins and the ghostly whisper of the wind between the buildings, making the vines on the walls shiver where they cover engravings written in an old, forgotten tongue - it’s highly possible that the spell used by the witches to take their city and the war fleets down into the depths of the sea also took whatever this source was with them. 

Still, there are places where the line between worlds is thin, and magic comes easier and works better in this places.

Is Nox a warlock, a wizard, or a sorcerer? 

A bit of a merge between a wizard and a sorcerer! 

Most people who perform magic now need runes to make them work - runes and spell books and herbs and stones and all that good stuff. It’s not a highly respected ability like it used to be, and most people that do magic tend to be covered in tattoos done by special magicians who do tattoo work (for a very hefty price as you really can’t risk messing up the rune).

Nox and her father are a special case, because they have innate magic as well. I guess it’s not so much of a spoiler, but Nox is descended directly from the sea witches, and therefore she can perform some magic at will. Or, in the case of the opening scene of the book, under extreme duress lmao

Do mythical creatures have magic?

Most definitely! 

In fact, mythical creatures have more magic than humans. It’s usually very primal, and not overly sophisticated, and generally focused around one element or perhaps around illusion or something, but yes! Mythical creatures are more deeply connected to the world than humans, and therefore seem to be able to still be able to pull magical energy from the missing energy source, wherever it is.

Sirens also have magic! Where Ilya and his family are from, it’s more rune-based, closer to human magic, but they do have the ability to sort of sense the tides and changes in the weather, and stronger sirens have the ability to manipulate water to do their bidding. SOME even have electricity powers, or so the rumors go :3c

They lose themselves in the music, once they finally make it to the jazz club he’d found.

They haven’t danced properly like this in years, having stopped their couples’ dance classes when they started filming for Unsolved, both too busy and too worried that people might assume something. After they’d gotten together, well, they’d mostly just… never gotten around to picking it back up.

But the way they move together, easy and natural as breathing—it looks like they didn’t need any more lessons anyway.

They move across the dance floor together with an ease he hadn’t expected, and she follows his lead effortlessly, laughing as he twirls her out and back into his arms. She’s practically glowing with joy, radiant and full of life, and he feels a bit like he must look the same way as they laugh together, moving to the music and enjoying being close to each other. At some point, the floor seems to clear a little bit for the two of them, as they move to a faster song, giving themselves over to the rhythm and letting it lead them where it pleased.

There’s a moment where he remembers the one lift they’d learned, and as they near the end of the song, she twirls back into his arms and he catches her by the waist, leaning in close to murmur, “Trust me?”

Nox nods, laughing, as she says, “With my life!”

That answer makes his already flushed face a little more red, and he lifts her by the waist, tossing her up into the air and catching her easily, before spinning and dropping her back in a dip, supporting her with his leg and his arms as she clutches at his shoulders and tosses her head back in mirth.

For a breathless moment, they’re suspended like that together, and it’s like magic, the feeling flowing through his veins.

He loves her, more than she’ll ever know, and he can’t quite help himself as he tightens his grip and brings his lips down on hers in a passionate kiss.

Julian only barely registers the sound of the crowd cheering as he straightens back up, because she pulls him in for another kiss once she’s found her balance again, pressing up as far as she can on her toes to bring her mouth back to his. He laughs into her kiss, and when she lets him pull away again, he takes a dramatic step back, bending low in a bow to press a kiss to the back of her hand.

His pulse is rushing in his ears, and they’re both panting, but the way she steps right back up to him when he straightens again, using his grip on her hand to pull his hand to her lips, too…

He loves her.
