Unforgotten, the critically acclaimed crime drama created and written by Chris Lang, has started filming on a sixth season. SinĂ©ad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar reprise their roles as DCI Jess James and DI Sunil âSunnyâ Khan as their dynamic on-screen partnership returns to investigate emotionally charged cold cases from the past, unravelling secrets and unearthing buried truths along the way.
The new season will be directed by Andy Wilson (Ripper Street, Spooks, The Forsyte Saga) who has been the sole director responsible for directing each of the previous 30 episodes across five seasons of the successful drama.
âI am absolutely delighted to be stepping into the world of Unforgotten once more,â Keenan said. âTo be involved with the incredible teamâŠon yet another set of stellar scripts from Chris Lang, with the brilliant Andy Wilson at the helm is a real treat. And to get to work again with Sanjeev, Carolina, Jordan, Pippa, and Georgia is an absolute joy. To call it *work* is a total misnomer. I canât wait to get started!â
âIâm humbled and excited to be back as Sunny Khan, bearing the backpack for series 6 of Unforgotten,â said Bhaskar. âChrisâs scripts, as ever, are intriguing, detailed and empathetic.  Andyâs direction and the skill of SinĂ©ad and the cast make this a warm and creative experience that is so much more than a job.  Once again I feel lucky to be a part of it.â
âIâm incredibly excited to be about to start filming the sixth series of Unforgotten, with a story that has been gestating for nearly eight years, since the 23rd June 2016, when our country seemed to fracture in two,â Lang said. âThe UK, and indeed the world, has today never seemed more divided, and series six attempts to try and understand how we got to where we are now, and perhaps more importantly, where we can go from here.â
Joining SinĂ©ad and Sanjeev for this series are Victoria Hamilton (Cobra, His Dark Materials), MyAnna Buring (The Responder, The Witcher, The Salisbury Poisonings), acting newcomers Max Fairley and Elham Elas, and legendary British actors Jan Francis and Damien Maloney with returning performances from Andrew Lancel (Bolanâs Shoes, Unforgotten, The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe) as Jessâs husband Steve and Kate Robbins (Unforgotten, The Couple Next Door, Death in Paradise) as her mother Kate.
Jess and Sunnyâs loyal and hard-working police team are also back including Jordan Long as DS Murray Boulting, Carolina Main as DC Fran Lingley and Pippa Nixon as DC Kaz Willets. Georgia Mackenzie who plays pathologist Dr. Leanne Balcombe is also returning to the show.
In Season 6, when suspected human remains are discovered on Whitney Marsh, Jess and Sunny are called to the scene. With Dr Balcombeâs expert analysis of the human spine, itâs evident the remains are relatively recent and her guess is the body was put there already dismembered. With this knowledge Jess and Sunny begin to search the area believing other body parts may not be too far away.
In the meantime, weâre introduced to outspoken television commentator Melinda Ricci (MyAnna Buring) who is based in Ireland and renowned for her forthright views, Martin âMartyâ Baines (Max Fairley) an autistic man who lives with his mother, Dot, in Deal, Kent, Asif Syed (Elham Elas), an Afghan who speaks fluent English and is training for his UK citizenship test, and Juliet Cooper (Victoria Hamilton) who is a history lecturer and faculty head at a central London University.
Each of these characters live separate lives, yet they are intrinsically linked by their past and itâs for Jess, Sunny and their team to unravel these connections in search of the truth, and ultimately, who perpetrated the cold case murder.

Mick Avory (born 15 February 1944) best known as the longtime #drummer and #percussionist for the #rock #band The Kinks. He joined them shortly after their formation in 1964 and remained with them until 1984, when he left amid creative friction with guitarist Dave Davies. He is the longest-serving member of the band, besides the Davies brothers.Â
Before he joined The Kinks, Avory was asked twice to rehearse on drums at the Bricklayers Arms pub in London during late May/early June 1962 for a group of musicians who were later to become The Rolling Stones.[1] It has been said that he also went on to play at their first show at The Marquee Club on 12 July 1962,[2][3] yet Avory himself says âI think Tony Chapman did the gig at the Marquee. I didnât. I just rehearsed twice in the Bricklayer Arms in the Sohoâ.[4]
Avory joined The Kinks in January 1964, after their previous drummer Micky Willet left the band.[5] Avory was hired to replace him after their management saw an advertisement Avory had placed in the trade magazine Melody Maker.[6] Despite his ability, early Kinks recordings (including hits such as âYou Really Got Meâ) commonly did not feature Avory on drums; producer Shel Talmy hired more seasoned session drummers (most notably Clem Cattini and Bobby Graham) for studio work well into 1965, but with Avory often providing supporting percussion. Mick Avory played drums on the vast majority of Kinks material.

Kate Willet on twitter posted this about Bernie: "Some tools at the Presidentâs disposal-packing the court, bullying Manchin and sinema into abolishing the filibuster, flat out refusing to obey the court ruling, creative use of executive orders, calling for strikes from the biggest bully pulpit on earth" First, HE CAN'T DO THAT AS PRESIDENT and second what's stopping "planned parenthood is the establishment" Sanders from calling for a general strike right now? WHY AREA THEY LIKE THIS?
The president can't do many things, to their chagrin. They live in the fantasy that the president can just ordain things to be. That's why they were so easily sold the fantasy that "Bernie would have burned this to the ground by now" and why at their heart, they envy Trump and what he has come to represent. They want a strong man. It allows them to discharge their own responsibility onto someone else and allows them to live in fantasy detached from reality.
As much as they find this to be "cringe," they gotta vote!

Onwards with more CoNY! Night 6 through to, well, endgame (itâs not a long game XD;; ), and some closing thoughts.
Oh impressive, didnât actually piss off Kaiser! Still, that was a hell of a bust XD
Whoâs next... Agathon, I think. Heh, when I was watching Outstarâs LP, she got up to the animal blood part and I went, âHuh, I wonder if thatâs a Tremere thing, since Invidia was working on sheep blood too?â And, well. Small world XD
âAfter Agathon parks the car, itâs time for you to enter the nightclub. You glance at the Tremere, evaluating him. Itâs obvious this is not his kind of place.â Oh mood.
Junoâs rude :(
âYou were too busy licking Aislingâs boots to realise what you had!â âAisling doesnât wear boots.â
Oops. Yeah, didnât impress either Agathon or Aisling much there, alas.
Stalker spotted! :o
Okay, more fun with Kaiser. Wine shop at 232 Mullberry St, ask for the 1821 Special Reserve Donatello Negroamaro. When they decline, say youâre a âfedele servitore della famiglia G.â Ugh, fuckinâ Giovanni. Take it, say âgrazieâ and nothing else. Got it!
Ugh, Willets Point doesnât look cheery! Oh well, got the address, at least.
I hear a âshrill, unpleasant laughâ. Oh boy, him XD;; Didnât actually speak to him earlier in this run.
Well, rest of the night is free! Time for DâAngelo, this time! Man, never thought Iâd be so relieved to see his ugly mug, but hey, beats the NYPD XD
I mean, being right is one thing, but itâs pretty uncool to realise whatâs going on and what it could mean :-\ I like that he does seem fairly compassionate towards the Thinbloods, like he recognises how shit they have it and doesnât want to make it shittier.
Yeah, Larsonâs in a really tricky situation too :-\ But yikes, this shelter is... deeply unpleasant. Definitely prefer Santa Monica beach XD;;
Hi, Sana, nice to meet you. Are you a serial killer, by any chance?
Buaargh grabbed by the throat that was very rude!! Ooof, blood hunt. Even ruder :( Scourge, not fun. Has it ever occurred to them that maybe the mass killing off of Thinbloods would lead to Gehenna? I mean, call it a wild and crazy theory... XD;;
Ooh, lots of choices tonight. I think Benoit, then back to DâAngelo. Thereâs also the stalker and reporter sidequests, but I want to save those for later (reporter with the Ventrue, stalker with the Brujah, although I think there are two options for the stalker so I might do that one with the Ventrue too... for now, focusing on Benoit with Lamar).
...uh oh. Hunters.
Hmm. That sure was a thing. Back to DâAngelo, letâs see if we can find Sana before the Scourge does...
lmao feeding opportunity on the random flask. Sure why not.
âSomething about impending doom and oh lawd, he cominâ.â *SNORTS*
âWho are we meeting?â âBetter strap in, âcause this oneâs a doozy.â âAm I meeting your parents?â Wow and itâs only the third date XD
âWe want her alive.â / âDonât be a murderous bitch.â God you have no idea how much I want to do the second one...
DâAngelo and Valerie, huh XD
Poor Sana :(
Oh, uh, hi Qadir! Make yourself at home. Oh you already did. Okay then!
...good talk!
Awww fuck itâs Emma :(
Mrph. No time for that yet, so back to DâAngelo. Sana seems calm. If we can get her out of the city, thatâs a better option than turning her over to Panhard, thatâs for sure. Hmm, Larson turned someone over to the SI. That is... uncool. Still, if helping her get out is feasible, letâs give it a shot.
Dee and jello. Hee.
Oh fucking - um, hi, Qadir? Okay, yes, fair to say that did not go well.
God this is just sad :( But if we had gone to Elysium, she probably would have been publicly executed, and if we had turned in Larson, he would have been killed instead...
Ahhh, the book reveal. I had already been spoiled for this, alas, but itâs still a pretty neat - and sad - twist.
Iâm having emotions over the friendship between a Toreador and a Nosferatu donât mind me ;_; And that is DâAngeloâs arc complete and achievement got!
Now to say goodbye to Emma :(
âItâs going to leave a scar, boy. But a true artist knows those are not something to hide, but to display with pride.â Man, I so wonder what Qadir would be doing if he wasnât Sheriff. Heâs a Toreador! Whatâs his creative outlet?
God that scene is so sad ;_; Also Qadir is such a good character, seriously.
Next up - now that DâAngeloâs arc is done, over to Agathon.
Heâs such a good grandson ;_;
Time for Benoit part three. Final part, I think? God thatâs an intense scene. In Outstarâs LP, she had Lamar run, so I havenât seen the outcome of it, but. Yeah. Thatâs full-on. And thatâs the achievement done, so back to Agathon!
Ahh dang. Asked about the notes instead of the missing Invidia. Ah well, Iâve seen that text option - the next step is syncing it up with Night Road.
I mean. In fairness. Junoâs right, the Tremere are pretty shitty XD;; Got the notes back with Celerity, though! (Didnât think Presence was a good idea, sheâd probably just counter with Dominate.) Oof, wonder what she did to Agathon, though?
Oooh, sheâs House Carna!! Okay, thatâs damn cool... and now Iâm wondering if she was right after all XD No chance of convincing Aisling and Agathon to ditch the Pyramid and go join Carna too, huh? Either way, arc done, and achievement got!
Oh huh, now Iâm out of options XD Wonât have enough time to do Hope or Tamikaâs runs, so... I guess letâs start the stalker and journo ones? I think Iâm going to run out of time before endgame, though. Or, I can deliberately fail at recruiting someone for the achievement... yeah, okay, letâs go say hi to Hope.
Hi chat! Nice to meet you all! Friendly crowd here! God this is so much funnier having seen Hopeâs arc already.
âAny last words?â âYour chat room sucks ass.â
V I B E C H E C K
Lamar: âWhat.â
Hopeâs show is goddamn wild. Also, confirmation that it definitely is set in 2019.
Huh. Not the impression I got from the description of v5 Blush of Life, itâs supposed to be normal saline.
Aaaand the reveal! I love the username InfodumpDeliveryService lmao
Whoops. Accidentally succeeded in recruiting her XD Well fuck it, weâre only just meeting with Torque now, letâs see how far I can get before endgame!
âHeard this is the place to meet hot chicks who hate the patriarchy.â
Man I wish you legit could join the Anarchs XD;;
Yeah not surprised Mia is a Brujah XD I bet she and Damsel would get on!
Hmm. Fun times with stalkers, I guess. Oh rude just got beaten up :(
Huh. Wonder if Bruceâs mysterious master is Samira, the Banu Haqim primogen?
Hrmm. Could try failing with Tamika, I guess. Hi Gangrel dude I like your tree tattoo! Raoul, gotcha. Oh goddammit I accidentally recruited again XD
Oh fuck police D8 Oh, right, that was the stalker. Fun times! Oh shit that note was from Adelaide, right, because those definitely sound like stereotypical Malk speech patterns XD;; ...Or not, because itâs time to meet âthe bossâ :|
RIP Vince but not too much of the P.
God Callihan is repellent Iâm so glad, uh, SoNY happens.
Okay, nasty stalker, letâs see what youâre on about! Or not because Sophie is being scary as fuck and forcing the poor kid to meet with Torque D:
Poor Lamarâs just realised heâs a pawn and is like, â...well fuck.â
Okay, now weâve set all that up, now we go meet with the stalker XD;; Aaand... she thinks Lamar is pretty, and got an achievement XD;;
Well that was a rude as hell awakening. DâAngelo, you are a sight for sore eyes!
Man the music that plays here is giving me super strong Bloodlines vibes.
Ooof, back to that apartment. Thatâs fun.
And of course this is the part where the game all falls apart :-\
Just... god. This is probably the biggest problem with CoNY, and the reason I didnât bother getting it until it was like... 60% off. The bulk of the game is great - the writing is intriguing, the design is stunning. But the choices themselves are so limited itâs barely worth even getting it at 60% off!
You have three choices of characters, with their own opening chapters and own individual scenes with their touchstones. You have four choices of coterie members, and three sidequests. You can probably get in at least three full story arcs and a sidequest or two, but youâre only ever limited to two of your coterie members showing up at the not-yet-endgame.
So letâs say you decide to play all three protags, which, indeed, is encouraged (thereâs an achievement for it). You are going to repeat coterie arcs and side quests, because there simply arenât enough for three unique playthroughs.
And then you get to the end and literally everything is scripted. You get attacked by the SI. You get rescued by your two coterie members (and then never see them again, despite the game being called Coteries of New York). You meet Torque, you escape the SI, Sophie reveals her plan to Torque, you go to Ellis Island, Adelaide kills Sophie (and despite the fact that youâre given multiple options there, none of them work), Arturo does his spiel, end of game. You donât even get to choose between ending up blood bound or going âno fuck youâ and at least dying with a bit of dignity!
I just. I really want to like it, and there genuinely is a lot there to like! But uuuugh the ending. Like damn at least give the poor protag the option to choose what happens to them!
Anyway. Not sure whatâs next. To get all the achievements, you have to finish with all three protags, so thatâs three full runs and a lot of repetitiveness (compare to, say, Bloodlines or Night Road. I have eighty-five hours on Night Road and thereâs still stuff I havenât seen!), so I canât even just... rush it through up to the meeting with the touchstones on the third play. Nope. Gotta finish it :-\
Final rating: 6/10
8/10 characters, 9/10 atmosphere, 8/10 story aside from ending, 3/10 story ending, 2/10 replayability. Final consensus: get it on major sale if you can, otherwise, you might as well just watch an LP. I might do that instead of doing a third run, although I at least want to do a second.
But yeah. Either way, Iâm definitely going to be setting it aside for a while. I want to do a short-play game (probably ABZU), then back to Bloodlines for my Tremere Cammy run. At least thereâs still plenty there to explore, even if the endgame combat is pretty repetitive! It has actual different endings and your choices actually matter!

Unlike previous internet generations, people from this younger age group value and may even expect to be paid to post, said Lance Willett, Tumblrâs chief product and technology officer.
âWhen Tumblr first launched the product was perfectly attuned to millennial curation over creation, a kind of mood board,â he said. The product, he added, has evolved somewhat since then to become a place for creators to post their original creative work. Young digital artists, fan-fiction writers and web comic creators are active users of the platform, he said.
âWhen we looked at the younger generation, trying to figure out what would be the hook for them, we decided to make Post+, because itâs something that will push the boundaries and itâs following their behavior theyâre already doing,â Mr. Willet said.
(from the article) what on earth is this man talking about?? has he ever opened tumblr in his life? um, and apparently neither has the WSJ if they think tumblr is âacknowledging usersâ desire to be validated as paid-up creators of content.â thatâs certainly not our users. Maybe people are right and tumblr is in fact trying to attract new âinfluencerâ types rather than cater to actual users.
#more nonsense#postplusprotest#may post+ die an inglorious death#we seem to have located the rumored higher-ups making unwise decisions#dissociated from what users actually are like

Itâs #secretsantĂ© time, @servedbysoberon âs event where people get to know each other as Matthias randomly assigns participants who primarily post about drink to study another personâs instagram, then post a tribute cocktail. Last year, I was privileged to meet @cocktailchap & @bostonbarhopper this way, as well as several other folks whose accounts I learned about through friendsâ posts. Matthiasâ event is all that is good about social media & drinks. At a time when weâre all aware of the dark side of both, itâs lovely to participate in something so positive. This year Iâm honored to have been assigned the multi-talented artist Susan D Jones @susandjones27 . Susan is a hands-on craft artist who currently works on psyanky eggs and quilting, though she also makes clear that she is always growing & changing from year to year. She is creative, likes to experiment, & is incredibly experienced with amaro. It turns out Susan & I also live near one another & share a love for 18th century history & amaro, so this was a fun drink to think about! Susan mentions a couple of times not liking drinks that are overly sweet, and also being a bit frustrated when a great book calls for obscure or impractical ingredients. So hereâs a drink thatâs simple but not simplistic. The only sweetness comes from the split amaros. Itâs built on the frame of a Manhattan â as all the best drinks are. (Im jokingâŠkind of.) I was reminded of this drink when I saw its sibling recently on @liquor Iâve admired creator Abigail Gullo @abigailgullo since I 1st sat at her bar in New Orleans years ago. Sheâs since moved to Seattle but her drinks stick in my mind. Ms Gullo describes both Bourbon & Rye versions of this drink as descended from the Manhattan (âĄïžBrooklynâĄïžRedHookâĄïžBig Chief/Longshoreman). I remember the Big Chief when it rocked my world 7* years ago so thatâs what Iâve made to toast Susan. Happy New Year Susan! Big Chief 2 Bourbon (Willet pot still) .5 Averna amaro .5 Punt e Mes vermouth Stir & strain into chilled glass, express flamed orange peel over drink & garnish with peel *menu pic is from a 2014 return visit for Ms Gulloâs drinks. It is looking like the real deal,
Automattic, which runs WordPress.com, bought Tumblr in 2019, but it hasnât done much with the service since. Itâs hard to imagine a paywall feature, for a site that is often used for pseudonymous fan blogging, will be what brings people back. But itâs a step toward making the platform a more flexible option for writers and gives existing ones another reason to stick around. The network is now highlighting its continued adoption by younger users, saying that just about half of its users are part of Gen Z.
A wide launch of the feature is planned for this fall, a Tumblr spokesperson tells The Verge. Tumblr will take a 5 percent fee from subscriptions, which is competitive compared to Substackâs 10 percent cut. If readers subscribe on iOS or Android, though, those platformsâ 30 percent app store fees will come out of what a creator gets to keep.
https://www.theverge.com/2021/7/21/22586765/tumblr-subscription-blogs-post-plus
--------------
The microblogging site is the latest platform looking to woo creators with subscription tools that help them earn money. This year, both Twitter and Facebook have launched services that let people publish subscription newsletters.
Post Plus launches in beta on Wednesday. However, the only way Tumblr users can see Post Plus content now is if they follow a content creator who's a part of the testing group.
https://www.cnet.com/tech/tumblr-launches-monthly-subscription-tool-post-plus-exclusive-content/
-------------
That sounds all fine and well, and makes sense as the next step for most social media platforms. But it comes at a time in which so few people are using the free version of Tumblr â so why would they pay?
Post+ is all an attempt to pull in younger users, who are overwhelmingly dedicated to platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Currently, according to Tumblr about half of its users are Gen Z and they spend about 26 percent more time on the platform than other users, according to Tumblr. But it's unclear how many users actually log onto the site every day.
Lance Willett, Tumblrâs chief product and technology officer, told the Wall Street Journal that Post+ is intended to be the next generation of content for young users the platform, which used to be "perfectly attuned to millennial curation over creation, a kind of mood board."
https://mashable.com/article/you-can-pay-for-tumblr-posts-with-tumblr-post-plus
-----------------------
More than 48% of its users already fall within the Gen Z demographic, which encompasses people born in the mid-to-late 1990s through to the early 2010s, Tumblr said, though it declined to disclose how many people use the platform daily.
Willet said.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/tumblr-introduces-paid-subscription-tool-to-woo-younger-bloggers-11626872401
Iâm like 95% sure that the tumblr plus thing is some weird prank but on the off chance it isnât, this blog and all itâs content will remain completely free!

ANAMED Newsletter - How has the global pandemic affected your ANAMED fellowship life and associated research?
Rinse Willet, Post-Doctoral Fellow (2019-2020)
After just over a month of staying at ANAMED in Istanbul, it became clear that the coronavirus was transforming from a news item in the foreign section of the newspaper into a life-changing entity. At first, my reaction was selfish: I just published a monograph, a result of seven years of work, and after hardships, 2020 was going to be my big chance in academia. Invitations to be a keynote speaker were already âin the pocket.â Yet, I soon realized that possibly getting stuck in Istanbul in forced isolation, away from home and loved ones in the Netherlands, was not ideal. So I travelled back to The Hague in the Netherlands on Tuesday, March 17th. It was during this trip that the surrealism of the situation struck home: people wearing masks, many flights cancelled, hand sanitizer and paracetamol completely sold out, the train from Schiphol airport to The Hague virtually empty.
In my first weeks back home, I tried to continue research, with the internet as my only (but massive) repository. I first focused on finishing the few papers, chapters, and an edited volume that were already in the planning stages. It was difficult to concentrate on writing, with news coming in each day and the Netherlands being subjected to new rules: all schools were closed, vital shops stayed open, exercise outside was allowed, travel was limited only to people working in vital jobs, and people needed to stay home as much as possible, while children would be allowed to have fun at the playgrounds. This was called an âintelligent lockdown,â which is great as most Dutchmen have above-average intelligence (or so they think). With no more airplanes coming over and my horizon limited to just barely seeing the trees beyond the next apartment building, my world quickly became very small. It also became clear that the promise of 2020 was becoming more and more a deception: applications being denied is apparently a normal fact of academic life, but with scholarships being cancelled due to COVID-19 and archaeological fieldwork being cancelled (along with the income that would have generated for me), things became rather direâultimately rent has to be paid. What to do?
It took me some time to pick up exercising again, but once I did (a run in the park, bike rides along the coast, some weightlifting at home), it made a huge difference in mindset. Not only did I start to break all kinds of personal distance and speed records, but it helped to get a positive outlook on the way forward. The fact that it was springtime, with the cherry trees starting to blossom and all kinds of other plants undergoing the magic transformation of life, rekindled my enthusiasm for photography. So photography (Instagram: @existentialblip) became my creative outlet and my camera my trusty companion on weekly grocery trips and walks in the park. Despite a loss of immediate necessity, I continued with my biweekly Turkish lessons, albeit online. Keeping a structure in life helped me in deciding the next step.
This next step means a (temporary?) end of my academic pursuits: after taking the necessary capacity tests and interviews, I was hired to start a traineeship in Java programming development starting in the first weeks of June. Something radically different, although my programming days go back a long time: from the ages of nine to twelve I spent Friday evenings in the local library in my home village to borrow books on programming games in BASIC and Turbo Pascal! From what I have seen so far, it is exciting and challenging stuff. Now that the new realities of âlife at 1.5 m distanceâ have settled and schools start to slowly reopen, it is time to think over the last months. My time at ANAMED was brief and confirmed the love that I have for Roman archaeology and history, but COVID-19 affirmed to me, once again, to expect the unexpected. And who knows, maybe my new programming skills may become useful for future archaeological endeavors as well.

Comp in a Genre
Project Overview
In this project, my hopes were to bring awareness to poachingâ specifically of the rhino and elephant populations in Africa. It is an issue that needs to be brought into the limelight. The primary research I conducted focused specifically on Gen Z. I did this by observing two twenty-year-olds discussing their viewpoints on poaching. It was important to target this specific age group because we are the next generation equipped to fix the issue. I hope that in talking to my peers, I inspired in them the agency to make change. I have decided to use the power of social media to bring awareness to this issue.
By using Instagram, I hope that I am able to effectively shed a light on the inhumanity of poaching. I will be able to reach people from all over the world who are active Instagram users. This platform is very versatile in the way that I can post videos and pictures with captions explaining the context of each. The need for change regarding poaching has become dire and there is no better way to communicate that then via social network.Â
Audience Strategy
I am going to make this tangible to my generation by creating an account on an app that Gen Z seems to dominate. By creating an Instagram, I will be using a combination of Pathos and Logos. Logos is logic, defined as reasoning, or ârational argumentâ word choices, logic choices, and readable sentence structures are attributable to the logos one constructs. While pathos, on the other hand, is, âputting the audience in the appropriate mood, by playing on its feelingsâ. Appeals to pathos are the âpersuasive reasons in an argument that derive from a community's most deeply and fervently held valuesâ (Rife, 2010) The importance of using logos and pathos in my rhetoric is to make the audience more appealed to the topic of poaching and to play on their feelings to have them sympathize and want to help. By using the strategies of logos and pathos on Instagram, it will help draw in supporters if done correctly. I was able to see Gianna use logos and pathos in her argument during my observation. Gianna was more than successful at choosing powerful words to describe poaching, and she was able to use her word choices to play on her feelings, to show how deeply she cared for this issue. The observation between Ryan and Gianna was the leading reason why I chose to focus on having Gen Z as my audience because I realized that people were lacking awareness.
To build awareness of this issue, on my Instagram, I will make links accessible to anti-poaching nonprofits and other important organizations they may be interested in after searching through social media. Instagram will focus on the brutality of poaching and the effects but it wonât be all depressing material. I then will incorporate pictures of the efforts that are being put into saving these animals and how beneficial it is to the world.Â
A projected genre
I decided that Gen Z would be the best audience to target because Gen Z is the next generation to make a change in the world. Gen Zâs are people born from 1995-2009, so the majority of us are early adults to teens. Gen Z is made up of mostly educated young adults who understand how the world works and see the need for help. I thought that Gen Z would be the most effective because if this issue speaks to people, they can dedicate time and maybe their careers to anti-poaching efforts. For my primary research, I surveyed 100 people, the majority being college students. While I surveyed 100 Gen Zâs, I was able to get an overall consensus about their feelings towards poaching, the overwhelming I thought that it would be best to have them be my projected genre as well. In one survey question, I asked how they think media and society could end poaching. Most of the responses involved bringing awareness and showing the real raw side of poaching through social media. This led me to believe Instagram was the best way to bring more attention and awareness to this issue. Gen Zâs believed that the power of social media could help fight poaching. While Gen Zâs are the best target audience, I believe that boomers would most likely be the worst generation to target, considering they are ignoring the state of our world and not demanding change. For the projected genre, my hopes are to speak to the people born between 1995-2004, the later generation Zâs, so they are able to see the brutality and cruel reality of poaching and help demand the end. Gen Zâs are described as, âa vigorous contributor, high consumption of online content, creative and mash-up experts; they have strong gravitational bond for online communication that they prefer to participate and remain connected via technology available at fingertipsâ (Yadav 2017). By having gen Z be a âvigorous contributorâ to social media, the anti-poaching Instagram could go a very long way if it got the attention it deserves.
Design Plan
So after creating my Instagram, my first step would to become verified so people know it is a real project. By adding the verified blue check, people already take you more seriously. I would then build my brand on social media, spreading awareness to anti-poaching efforts. My posts would include statistics, videos/pictures that show the horrors of poaching, the faces behind it and how you can help. I will also incorporate the evidence that Vaughn provided for me, during our interview he explained the efforts going against poaching. For example, the rangers that help protect the rhinos at Kruger National Park, I want to bring attention to those people that help protect rhinos. Vaughn also mentioned his family friendâs private game reserve that is testing out heart monitors on the rhinos, that is something I would like to show in my Instagram. By showing evidence of how people are helping to protect these animals, it will give the audience hope. My Instagram will not be all hopeful content, I want to share the cruel reality of poaching and what really happens to rhinos and elephants as they get their horns and tusks removed. By incorporating things from every end of the spectrum to share the real, raw story of poaching, it would make Gen Zâs feel for this issue and understand every aspect of it.Â
After I build my Instagram, I then would encourage people with mass following to promote the cause. By bringing celebrities, or people with strong social media presence, they can bring more awareness and attention to their followers. Brian Willete, a photographer who shares his work on Instagram explains âitâs important for a brand to understand that succeeding on Instagram is less about the number of followers you have, and more about the number of influencers following the brandâ (Willete 2017). When influencers/celebrities follow your brand, it immediately promotes your account and your message. With the mass amount of Gen Zâs on Instagram following numerous influencers, it would be a quick turn around time to gain followers.
The ideal person who I would want to promote my anti-poaching campaign would be sixteen year old Greta Thunberg, an environmental activist who has a huge following. By having her as the face of the anti-poaching social media campaign that I have designed, she will continue to spread her views and ideas to inspire Gen Zâs to use their voice and help to put an end to poaching. This would be a very effective way to gain attention and to help people follow this issue. Using Instagram is one of the strongest ways to put yourself and your idea out there. People would be watching step by step and could add support if they believed in the message and forward it to others. Instagram is a giant intertwined web where ideas and projects can flourish and reach audiences that would have been unattainable before social media.Â
My most important aspect to my Instagram account is sharing the brutality behind poaching, so people are able to see what REALLY happens to rhinos and elephants to obtain the horn and ivory. I want to really bring light to how inhumane and gruesome these animals are being treated. I am not only going to focus on the horrors of poaching, I am going to bring awareness to all the amazing anti-poaching efforts that are in action. My interviewee, Vaughn Williams, stated âconservers are cutting horns off before the poachers could get them. People come in and cut it off in a painless sanitary way so the animals can live their lives without having their hornsâ. By incorporating powerful images and videos of people protecting these animals, it gives hope to the anti-poaching efforts. In my Instagram, I am going to be super candid with all the issues and efforts that are taking place in Africa to show my audience what is being done and how they can help.Â
Instagram is a very powerful app that can spread your ideas and messages to places all over the world. By creating an Instagram and attracting followers to my cause, it would create a wave of supporters. Incorporating logos and pathos in my message as well, it will appeal to different genres of people so they can understand how important of a cause this is. As well as having influencers and celebrities promote the account, it will attract more and more people and expand your brand. I believe that creating an account will forward the movement to end poaching.

Iâm interested in these new digitalised images by Mackenzi.Â
Did you know that during COVID-19 through your uni account you can now access Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Cloud software programs for free!? https://www.myit.unsw.edu.au/software-students Get in there!
There are some aspects of her work that remind me of the work of artist Marian Tubbs who uses digital interfaces. Here is a work below by Marian: Marian Tubbs, âaliencrosstalk sentient surfâ, 2018, courtesy the artist and STATION GALLERY, Melbourne. This is my painting for Week 7. These are ginger ale cans. I liked them because of their reflectivity. I added leftover paint and they lose their reflectivity in those places. I like how the filter on the first photo changes the colors to kind of reflect the original collage and also give it a pop-art kind of feel.
