So.... found a surprise in the forest today. We first planted Kiwanos 5 years ago and haven’t planted since yet they are still reseeding themselves and thriving. Did I mention that food forests are self sustaining? No driving to the supermarket, no lines, and pretty much no effort once the forest is established. It truly makes me wonder why this is taking so long to catch on. They look like they’re from another planet, but wild cucumbers are native to North America. They are sometimes grown as an ornamental species, though most people consider them a weed. Unfortunately they are not edible. Wild Cucumber! You can't actually eat these cucumber as they are toxic and considered invasive.
