Edens Zero Chapter 259 Livestream Discussion/Review: BOARDING THE EDENS ONE!!
youtube
The Edens One has caught up to Shiki, Rebecca, Happy, Pino, and the crew who are currently engaged in combat against Acnoella and of course Valkyrie confronting Brigadine while Witch is caught in the crossfire with Wizard. At the same time, Killer has also took control of the ship setting in place a self destruct sequence of 10 minutes before the Edens Zero blows up. Thus, Shiki rushes towards the vacinity of the Edens One where he is now caught in midst of an adversary that has yet to be seen who is onboard the ship.

I've never quite been sure which direction to take my craft and spirituality after leaving the Christian church because there are so many pathways. I adore the Triple Goddess of Wicca, but I find myself unable to fully attach to Wicca because I do not relate to or find myself able to worship the Horned God. I know there is Dianic Wicca, which I am definitely interested in, but I am always called back to Hellenism, specifically the Greek goddesses. I feel like Aphrodite specifically has always been around and in my life. My first house is ruled by Venus, I have always been extremely drawn to love, romance, sexuality, I am passionate about aesthetics and makeup, I have been drawn to the ocean, pearls, and marine life since I was born, I love the multitudes held by Aprhodite (Aprhodite Areia, Aphrodite Urania, etc.), I have surrounded myself with roses and flowers my whole life and even tended my own rose garden when I was younger, and I'm a lesbian which feels especially relevant because the double Venus symbol is historically used to represent lesbianism (and Sappho famously invoked Aphrodite in her poems).
However, I also feel like Artemis is a great presence in my life, given that I have a Cancer stellium which is ruled by the moon, the association with lesbianism again, my deep love and appreciation for the moon and night (although technically Selene is the moon goddess), and my love for nature and protecting animals.
Artemis and Aphrodite are notoriously and mythologically at odds, so I do not know how to hold space for both. I think I will pursue my calling toward Aphrodite and see where my journey leads me.

where do you think Jordan Peele’s movies sit on the tier list? personally, Get Out and Nope are filme and Us is fun
i didn't put them on the ranking only because to me they are their own thing. but if i were to rank them i'd put get out and nope in filme and us in great. i can't put us in fun because that movie rattles around my brain like marbles in a jar in a way that none of the fun movies do
#son-of-a-wiitch#people ask me stuff and things#also i saw all of them on their opening night so i avoided the hype machine

I really enjoyed your post on basic warding visualizations and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on warding in an apartment building.
Would it be better to try and ward an individual unit or the whole building? I’m not opposed to putting in some elbow grease to help my neighbors, but would it even be feasible? Or ethical for that matter, to do so without their knowledge?
Ooo, do I ever!
I spent about nine years in the same apartment and it certainly was a learning experience. Up until then, I'd only ever warded a house before. Didn't even think about warding the floors, and then couldn't figure out why my wards weren't filtering and blocking properly.
Think of your apartment like a floating box. Ward all six sides, including the floor and ceiling, and attach the wards to the building studs. That's how I ended up doing it. Layering helps too.
You can certainly ward the whole building or your block/unit if you want to. It might take more energy though, since it's more ground to cover and you can't always account for all the variables. One option may be to ward the exterior door or main entrance and the hallway where your front door is located. This may have to be done in a non-visual or unobtrusive way, but it can act as another line of defense if you feel it's needed.
And it is ABSOLUTELY good practice to look out for your neighbors through magical means. You're not trapping them inside your wards, you're blessing the communal structure you share so that everyone is a little safer. Nothing unethical about that.
I talked a little bit about this concept and some associated techniques in Ep. 24 of Hex Positive, "Warding A Witchy Home." You can check that out on your favorite podcatcher if you like.
Hope this helps! 😊

Storm being on the same team with Thor and Wanda works, her recent-ish team ups with them were good. Plus I trust Mackay with writing.
Reminds me of Ewing's Ultimates to be honest, a high-power team for solving the Big Problems.

It's really interesting how my mom is Okay with the concept of dressing as a witch, but only if you dress as a Specific Character Who Happens To Be A Witch.
I successfully argued my way into dressing as a witch one Halloween, but only by saying I wanted to be the Wicked Witch of the West (to match lil' sis 2's Dorothy).
I mentioned today that I needed an old straw broom for my costume to hand out candy, and my mom disparagingly replied, "You're not dress as a witch, are you..." I told her no--well, yes, but I was going as the old woman from Hansel and Gretel. (Like a liar; I'm just being a generic witch.) "Oh,"she said brightly, "That's alright."
What is it about a wiitch (general) and this witch (specific) that are so wildly different in morality to her?

Owl Reviews Stuff She Just Finished: Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright
So yk I didn't know what to expect going into this game, I'd seen really funny dialogue of it and mostly got it because I was extremely hyperfixated on Layton. But I did NOT expect such an emotional rollercoaster of a game with themes that tie into both Professor Layton and Ace Attorney and utilizes the strengths of each series so efficiently. I did not expect this game to make me cry. I did not expect this game to become one of my favorite Professor Layton AND Ace Attorney titles. But it did so I have to talk about it.
With two successful IPs on the cover this game could have easily been halfassed but every corner of it is full of passion for both titles. I mentioned before how they build off and complement each other and I think that's a result of the people working on this game having an in-depth knowledge of what makes PL and AA work and what their shortcomings are.
For example (I mentioned this in the liveblogs but may as well repeat myself here) Ace Attorney games are often limited to just the courtroom and investigation, not to mention you're not going to see 90% of the characters ever again after the case is done. This is serviceable for the kind of game AA is but it makes the world itself feel a bit uninteresting. However Professor Layton games have you confined to one town and make you explore it in depth, with recurring background characters who all have different (yet basic) personalities. Because of this, the Layton segments where you walk around town become crucial parts of the game where you can interact with future or past witnesses as they go about their lives, making these witch trials feel like they're taking part within an actual community, which make the emotional beats in the trials hit REALLY hard.
In turn, AA strengthens PL by adding variety. Layton games can be a bit monotonous if you're not engaged since the gameplay mostly consists of talking to people and solving an occassional puzzle, and there's a lack of interesting smaller mysteries to keep the audience engaged while they work on solving the bigger ones. But Ace Attorney games thrive on side stories, they're what make the trials so interesting! So by adding the smaller mysteries in the form of witch trials and mixing in clues about what the Hell is going on in Laberynthia you make a much more dynamic story that never feels like you're getting nowhere.
Enough about story structure and nerd stuff like that though, let's talk characters!
I love the main four and have always loved the main four so I'm not gonna talk abt them. The original characters for this game were freaking amazing. I see a lot of people really dislike Espella (which is understandable since she's probably the weakest of the cast) but she's pretty alright imo. She's going through a lot of things with the entire town despising her and [SPOILERS] so it makes sense why she would act the way she does, even then I feel like most heartfelt moments with her were a bit forced, which kind of lessens the impact of the last scene. I LOVE the relationship between her and [ANOTHER SPOILER] as well as the dynamic she has with Maya though.
I LOVE BARNHAM. He's one of my favorite prosecutors, he may not have any deep angst or trauma like so many of my favs do, but he's just a well meaning dude who thinks he's doing what he needs to to protect his town, even if it means casting wiitches into the flames. He also goes through a little character arc of his own where he also starts to bend the rules, the only laberynthian to do so. It's fun. Barnham is my best friend.
Unfortunately I can't talk about Darklaw or The Storyteller without getting into spoilers but basically: I love Darklaw and think she deserves the world, I'm on the fence about The Storyteller and feel like parts of his character were extremely rushed.
The secondary characters are also great, you have your classic goofy witnesses but also some really heartfelt characters and relationships in the trials, this is nothing new for Ace Attorney but when you include the conscious knowledge that these characters are going to be cast into the fire then these mini stories are enough to move me to tears (Looking at you, Golden Court).
Anyway, overall a fantastic experience that caught me completely off guard. No notes. I give it 10 burning witches out of 10.
Oh. And also:
#once again spoiler free so i can convince you to like the things i like#sorry for the incomprehensible rambling these 'reviews' are essentially excuses to ramble anyway so#i have a lot more concrete thoughts on this than i did for ghost trick i think thats bc im familiar with these series and ik how they work#owl reviews stuff she just finished#plvspw#professor layton vs phoenix wright#plvsaa#professor layton#ace attorney

Hello Ms. NicGarran, you answered an ask from me a while back about warding apartments and I really enjoyed your response. This is more of a fiddly question, but do you think roundabouts function in a similar way to crossroads magically?
Absolutely!
A crossroads is anywhere that two or more paths, roads, byways, or thoroughfares meet and diverge, regardless of whether that takes the form of a fork, a cross, a bunch of branching ways, or a circle. So a roundabout definitely falls into that category.
In a way, a roundabout feels like a very special type of crossroads to me, since it's not only the meeting point of several roads, but also a circle or spiral made from the movement of the vehicles passing through it. I could very easily imagine a witch using both the crossroads energy and the magic circle energy of such a place, provided it was safe to cross to the center and remain there long enough to Do The Thing. I'm sure if I'd recommend it on a practical level, but the theory feels solid.
Good to hear from you! Hope you're keeping well!
