From a very young age, Kaeya held such a fondness for handholding. Whether it was his father clinging tightly to him to make sure he didnât get lost, Adelindeâs gentle, grounding hand closed over his to comfort him whenever his nerves got the better of him, Crepusâs rough-palmed, firm yet comforting grip as he brought him back home, or, as it was most often of all, Dilucâs warm, yet at times uncomfortably tight hold as he dragged him anywhere, everywhere, determined to always keep Kaeya close and eagerly show him all there was to see, Kaeya treasured the gesture greatly.
Of course, being as shy as he was, initiating it himself was always the harder part. So much so, he would tend to hold pinkies, rather than outright take a personâs hand in his own. Eventually, it would become his most common way to go about the gesture of affection.
#hc; kaeya#//Handholding is one of his favorite ways of affection bc 1) itâs not too overwhelming when it comes to his touch aversion#//The sensation is all focused in one spot; and even then; itâs more grounding than uncomfortable bc of how firm peopleâs grasp tends to be#//He really took to holding pinkies bc he realized he could âtestâ people that way#//If it was a bother to them; they wouldnât blink twice before moving their hand from his hold. so rejection isnât as BIG; more subtle#//And if they Liked it; they could either accept it as is or make him happier and take firmer hold of his hand#//Once he was more confident; he would go straight to more outright handholding. Klee ofc got that RIGHT from the getgo. Bc she is smol &#liked him from the start. Even if her Pyro energy did make him uncomfortable at first; but he got used to it. for her#//Luc made it easy to go right to it toâthe kid would always seem to know when he wanted to hold hands for whatever reason and grabbed hold#before Kae could link pinkies. kae did like the fact that Luc would Pout the few times Kae did link pinkies instead of hold hands#//Pout; & snatch his hand firmly in his like âWhy did you do that? THIS wayâs betterâ. Love the image of bby!Kae grabbing bby!Lucâs sleeves#but lbr; they deffo held hands a lot as kiddos. Bc we all know just how (canonically) indulging Luc is with whatever Kae wants. Once Luc#//figured him out; it was a Very common sight; seeing Luc tromping around like the proud lil protector he was; & Kae scurrying after him#//Lil subtle delighted gleams in his eye compared to Lucâs more overt confidence and joy. So common a sight; it was no surprise that#Kae was Deffo distressed when Luc inevitably grew out of it. Adjusted; yeah; but the sudden Change was deffo NOT good for his nerves#//Clung to Addie a lot to make up for it; until he heard the maids tittering abt how childish he was being#//He quit that FAST; finding other ways to stave off his nerves and show his affection#//Sometimes when heâs drunk at Angelâs Share; he gets tempted to hold Lucâs handâan old habit dredged back up bc he wants comfort#//But any sudden moves Luc makes; whether bc he noticed Kae reaching out or not; utterly scare the urge away every time#//Heâs made his peace with Luc resenting him; but it still stings that the ONE person he felt closest to is now practically a Chasm away#//Not like he helps any with that; running away or lashing out every time Luc tries to bridge gaps or shows concern#//Sends him into fight or flight mode every timeâwhoâs to say Kae wonât fuck it up and make a Luc regret trying?#//Might as well sabotage it all himselfâat least THEN he knows with utmost certainty it will end failure. Whoops veered off topic#//The closer he is to someone; the more likely he ends up toying with their hands a bitâesp if Interested in them#//Likes playing with their fingers; linking; unlinking and slotting them together; tracing lines on their palms#//Cute shit like that. He likes seeing how they fit together; the differences in size and how they feel#//This was all bc I saw a detail from a show pointed out on the Twitter ndnfn. And thought the pinkie thing was SO cute. Anywho#//Hi. Shit happened irl & I am still not 100%. Not saying what bc itâs not a pleasant topic; but know I am ok#//Just a lil tired. But kinda wanna hcs for rn. I had a lil burst of energy earlier today. that was nice. Over a long dead show; no less#//But it helped lift my mood a bit. I still kinda wish I could drink rn tho. Think itâd help my brain rn

Lift Me Off My Feet
Chapter 5: Home Sweet Home
Masterlist
Original Thought - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 - Part 9 - Part 10 - Part 11 - Part 12
Aprox 5k words
W: Captain Price x Reader x Kyle Garrick (the poly 141 is building).
âI honestly think this is an improvement from your flat.â Ghost comments leaving your bag on a chair. âIt is sad, but it's true.â
And he is right. The safehouse you have been assigned to is not ugly, it is just⊠artificial. Decorated to look lived in, but you know it isn't. Photos of people you don't know on the walls, books you haven't read and blankets you can tell are going to be itchy. But no one can trace you back here.
Ghost drove you here, Price made Soap and Gaz stay with him to have a chat with them. Chat, you are glad to be able to avoid, at least for now.Â
The safe house is not too far away from the base, but still enough not to be linked to it. It is a nice neighbourhood, better than your last one, it makes you want to go for a walk.Â
âTry to always stay inside, alright?â Ghost tells you sitting beside you. He caresses your thigh looking at your face. âI know it sucks to be stuck inside, but this whole thing would lose its purpose if anyone sees you leaving or entering the house.â
âSo I canât never leave the house?â You ask looking down. His gloved hand still caressing your thigh, and your hands find their way to it, playing with the fabric of his glove.Â
âYou can, just need to be careful. But never alone, unless it is an emergency. Please, if Price hears you are wandering around alone he'll have a stroke.â He chuckles, stops moving his hand and instead puts the palm up letting you play with his hand. âYou should have seen him yesterday when he woke up.â
âWas it that bad?â You ask, guilt flooding your heart at the mental image of Price panicking because of you.Â
Ghost nods. âHe thought that we were pulling a prank on him, that we have you hidden. He made us show him our room, and then he went to look all around the base. Until I showed him the security footage of you leaving he didn't stop looking around.âÂ
âI feel like an asshole.â You admit, unable to look at him and focusing on your hands together with his. Your fingertips find their way inside the glove and you begin to caress the palm of his hand mindlessly.
âIt was a pretty asshole move.â Ghost chuckles looking down at your hands. âBut I can understand why you would do it, everyone else too. No one blames you for doing it, birdie. You know that, right?âÂ
It is then that you notice the current situation, Ghost is sitting side by side with you. Thigh pressing yours, one of his hands is on your lap with your own hand inside his glove caressing his skin, feeling the warmth. His other arm is resting on the back of your chair, and his hand find its way to your jaw, caressing your cheek with his thumb and moving your head to look at him.Â
He is wearing a basic black balaclava, no paint around his eyes, and you can see his blonde lashes for how close he is to you. Unconsciously, you look to where you know his lips are and you notice movement under the mask, he is smiling. He sighs and presses his forehead with yours. âCâmon, birdie. I made a promise this morning, don't make me break it so fast.âÂ
âA promise?â You ask curious as you look back to the hands on your lap.
âYeah, to Price. You are not supposed to know it.â He chuckles. âI shouldnât tell you.â
And you shouldn't push it, you should be nice. But you are nosy and he hasn't said no jet. So you look up to him, through your lashes and ask softly. âI won't say anything⊠please?âÂ
He groans closing his eyes and pulls his head back looking ahead of you. âHow can I say it?â He pulls the hand from behind your head to rub his face. âPrice and I talked last night, about how since we met there has been an⊠attraction between all of us.â
âOkay.â You agree, feeling a light blush rise on your face.Â
âAnd we talked about how we did a poor attempt at having control over it. And how we basically jumped you, and that was wrong of us, like, you were literally handcuffed when you were with Gaz.â He says sighing, feeling embarrassed with himself. âAnd I definitely shouldn't have done it the way I did.â
âIt's okay.â You admit, still unable to look at his face. âI didn't complain⊠wait.â You say finally looking up at him. âYou knew Gaz and I wereâŠâ
âHumping each other like teenagers? Yeah, I noticed.â He says chuckling when he sees your shocked expression. âBirdie, I took the car for maintenance the next morning to check the car's suspension because of how many potholes and curbs I hit. And you think I didn't do it or purpose?â
You cover your face with your hands chuckling in embarrassment, Ghost hugs you from the side bringing you close to his chest making you feel the vibrations from his laughs. âAre you getting shy now, birdie?â He asks and you nod, unable to answer. He then gets close to your ear and whispers: âYou weren't shy when I had my tongue up your ass.â
You shriek slapping his arms to get away making him laugh with his whole chest and when you manage to get up, he grabs your hips keeping you within arm's reach. âLet me go, I'm going to sleep.â You say trying to keep some kind of pride.Â
âI'm sorry, I'm sorry, was just playing.â He says standing up and hugging you again. âJust like how I played with your clit.âÂ
âShut up!â You exclaim, heating up, whether it is from embarrassment or something else, is not important right now. He laughs again and drops a kiss on the top of your head as a peace offering: âGo to bed, birdie. I'm sure you didn't get much sleep last night.â
You slap his arm one last time before walking down the hall, but he calls you again making you turn: âTake this, is a burner phone, so no one can track you through the phone. Price, Soap, Gaz and my number are already on. If you need to send anyone else a message or something, we will send it through your phone back at base, the antenna back at the base makes it impossible to track.â
You take the phone from his hand and slap your forehead when you see the time. âI need to call my boss!â
âAbout that, you don't have to worry about it. You are now on a witness protection system, so you actually can't just go. Price is going to talk to him, and he will figure it out. Price will take care of it, don't worry.â
You nod, not completely convinced, and after getting a kiss on your forehead you get inside the room, ready to sleep.
A couple of hours later, the clatter of pans and dishes wakes you up. You look at the time and realise you have slept almost all morning, so you stretch still on the bed, stand up, wash your face in the bathroom and make your way to the kitchen when you are met with Kyle's back.
âMorning.â You say smiling walking up to him. He whips around looking disproportionately scared by the situation and you look at him confused.
âFuck sake, doll. We gotta get you a bell or something, almost shit myself.â He says with a hand on his chest and you laugh at him.
âThat's what you get for being a snitch!â You exclaim putting your hands on your hips.
A perfect smile appears on his face that gets you weak on your knees, and he cups your face still smiling. Dammit, pretty boy. âI just couldnât help it, luv. You look irresistible when you are flustered.â He says giving you a peck on your cheek. âAre you hungry? I brought you some groceries and bought you lunch.â
You look over his shoulder to check what he bought, and satisfied with his choice you bit the bait of his peace offering. âYou are safe for now.â
The safe house is far from a mansion, but still, it is much better than your flat. More than one person can fit into the kitchen, there is a sofa and an armchair in the living room with a TV on a coffee table. Down the hall, there are two rooms and a bathroom with an actual bathtub inside. So yeah, a lot better than the old one.
Kyle and you have lunch on the sofa, and after you both stay seated basking in each other company. You can't help but stare at him and think about the first time you were close to him.
In just the last two days, you have grinded yourself against Kyle's dick, kissed and gotten yourself eaten out and fingered by Price, gotten your ass eaten and pussy fingered by Ghost and kissed and throat fucked by Soap.
Truly an interesting Tuesday.
It's not like you had never done those things before, but still, before them, it has always happened after a relationship was built and not in the order it happened that's for sure.Â
Fooling around with Kyle was rejuvenating, you are not even old, but still, it felt like fooling around with your first boyfriend. Horny enough to need to feel each other but not ready still to face the vulnerability of getting naked in front of each other.
With Price, he made you feel like a fucking goddess. As if he should be the one thanking you for eating you out. You could hear him moan against your cunt and there was not a centimetre of skin he didn't kiss that night. Such a soft way to make love it almost didn't make sense how nasty he make out with your pussy that night.
Simon was the opposite like a professor teaching a bratty student their place. Any of these men could have you on your knees begging if they put their mind into it, but Simon made you want to act up. Pull his string and step on his nerves. He left you so vulnerable, completely naked and exposed to him, and still, there was not a second where you didn't feel safe.
And Johnny. Oh, sweet, sweet Johnny. You couldn't wait to get your hands on him again. Something about the way he whined your name when you had only barely touched him, the way his pupils almost got a heart shape when you kneel before him.Â
But that little shit had a big mouth, not that he meant to cause harm, you know that. Unlike Gaz, the second little shit truly was striking for gold this morning. And now, he was sitting on the other side of the sofa, with your feet on his lap looking all innocent and completely unbothered by everything.Â
So calm.
It bothered you.
Little shit doesn't deserve peace and calm.
Little shit deserves a kick on his balls.
But just when you are about to, you remember his face last night when he saw you enter the mess hall, looking terrified and like a wounded puppy. He looked so worried, and he hugged you so warmly. So the kick doesn't arrive, instead, you plant the heel of your foot right on his crotch forcing a grunt out of him.
âEasy, luvâ He says rubbing your ankles.
âYou deserve worse.â You say looking at his face as you keep pushing around.
âRude, why do you say tha-at?â He asks half moaning the last word.
âYou were going to rat me out this morning.â You answer beginning to move your foot up and down his growing erection.
He closes his eyes, resting his head on the back of the sofa. âYou just look so delicious when you are flustered, doll. Couldn't help myself, would you forgive me?â
âI'm not sure yet, I'm still deciding.â You respond, pressing with a bit more force on his tip earning a moan from his throat.
âTake all the time you need.â He mumbles as he starts to move his hips against your feet.
Confusion floods your brain for a second, Ghost couldn't even kiss you this morning because he had given his word to Price but Gaz was happily humping your feet for his satisfaction.Â
Did Price don't make him promise? No, that doesn't sound logical. Kyle was the one who started everything, Price must have made him promise more than everyone else. Kyle simply doesn't care about it.Â
Price won't like that.Â
If only Price got to know Gaz had broken his promise.
There it is, your kick on his balls.Â
Figuratively.
For now.
You sit up, removing your feet momentarily earning a whine from Gaz at the loss. He looks at you with a pout on his face, cheeky bastard. It only lasts until he sees you undo his belt, and then a boyish smile appears on his face.Â
He reclines with a smug smirk on his face and looks up to you as you get his growing boner free. You lick a thick strip of spit into your hand and start to stroke his dick slowly. You look at his face and he looks back delighted.
âIf you treat me like this every time I bother you, I'm not stopping ever, luvâ He says between whispered moans.
âDo you ever shut the fuck up?â You ask chuckling.Â
âWhen my mouth is busy.â He admits, licking his bottom lip and leaving his mouth half open so moans can slip easily.
âIt's that so?â You ask, and with your free hand you raise your t-shirt exposing your tits with a little bounce that Gaz doesn't miss by the way his dick twitch in your hand.
âFuckinâ hell, luv.â He says beginning to move his head, but you pull his hair back and pressed your tit against his head which he gladly begins to suck onto making you groan softly.Â
âMuch better.â You sigh closing your eyes enjoying the feeling of his warm mouth against your nipple, you move your hand from his head down to his jaw caressing it and feeling the muscles of his jaw flex as he makes out with your boob.Â
Slowly and shamelessly, Gaz's hand find its way down your back. He doesn't bother to play coy, and as soon as the hand reach your waist, it goes under your pants and your underwear grabbing a handful of your ass cheek making you whine.Â
You press your thumb and index in his cheek, pressing between his teeth forcing him to open his mouth and say: âPlay nice or I won't play with you, Garrick.âÂ
He smiles at you as much as he can with his cheeks pushes and sticks his tongues out to lick your nipple. âYes, ma'am.âÂ
You could still kick him, literally. It would be faster and it'll probably erase the stupid smug smile from his face. But patience is a virtue.
So you shove his face against your boob again, and sigh when you feel his fingers travel down your lips. He moans when he feels your wetness just for your disgrace, the last thing you needed was to grow his ego. He slips them between your lips, gathering up the wet arousal pooling on your panties. He moves then to the front and begins to rub your clit with his fingertips.Â
There is precum leaking from his tip, and you bring your fingers up to press your thumb against his slip and circle it, smearing his precum around it, making him moan.Â
âLet's go to the bed, Kyle.â You half mumbles half moans.
âLet me just do it here, doll. Inaugurate the living roomâ He mumbles against your skin. You slap him on the back of his head and stand up.
âI'm planning on having most of my meals on this sofa, so get up.â You argue pulling his hand.
âIf you are still hungry, I have something you could eat.â He jokes as he stands up, making you look at him with a grimace look on your face making him laugh.
âDon't ever say anything like that, Kyle. For god sake.â You say shaking your head as you walk your way to the room. You open the door and quickly take the rest of your clothes. You look back at Gaz who is looking at you a bit stunned and you chuckle. âI think it would make it a lot easier if you took off your clothes.â
He pulls his t-shirt from the back of his head throwing it somewhere, and gets rid of his clothes as he walks up to you. When he was almost bent over himself on the sofa, whining around your boob, it was easy to get confident and boss him around. Now, with both standing up and as he gets closer to you, you need to look up because of the size difference. He notices it too, how you start to speak softer and your expression is kinder.Â
He chuckles to himself, positioning his hands under your arm and effortlessly throws you back on the bed, crawling over you instantly. You try to sit up, leaning on your elbows but a firm hand on your chest gets you flat on the bed soon.Â
You look up to him and see him cock his head like a dog. âWhat?â You ask and it makes him smile with that fucking toothpaste ad smile. âThere it is, I thought you lost your voice. You went silent so suddenly.â He teases.
âOh, shut up, Kyle.â You say chuckling and pinch his nipple making him chuckle as well. For a second you stay chuckling, looking at each other and enjoying the opposite company. Until suddenly it feels a bit too intimate, and almost at the same time, you make eye contact feeling shy regardless of the lack of clothing.Â
So you cup his face with both hands and pull him close kissing him on the lips. If he canât see the affection in your eyes, he can't accuse you of anything.Â
He caresses your hip, drawing circles with his thumb as he slowly reaches your mount and you slightly spread your legs involuntarily.
âEager little thing.â He mumbles against your lips smiling, and you bite back: âI can feel you leaking onto my thighs, Kyle. Don't get cocky.â
He chuckles under his breath and without more preamble one of his finger finds his way inside your cunt as he uses the palm to rub your clit making you moan. Wet kisses travel down your throat when you move your hands to the back of his face, his fingerâs movement becoming faster and not for long before a second one finds his way inside as well. You lower one of your hands to rub his erection against your tights, feeling the wet spot at his tip growing.Â
Fuck does it feel good to be desired.
Little moans of your name leave Kyle's mouth against your neck giving you goosebumps and causing you to squirm in his hand needy of more.Â
âKyle⊠pleaseâ You moan throwing your head back.
âNot yet, doll. I wanna see you come as prettily as you did on the car again before I get my dick inside this little tight cunt.â He groans against your cheek.
You moan at his crude words arching your back, twisting your face to kiss him. Teeth clashing in the process, but too desperate to care. The band on your stomach snaps almost surprising you, and for a second you can hear your ears ring. Kyleâs hand is still rubbing your clit, but almost like a feather now helping you ride out your orgasm.Â
You make eye contact with him, checking on you to see if you are alright and when he is satisfied he sits up, pulling you closer circling your legs around his slim waist and palms his erection; rubbing your clit with his tip. âAre you all right, luv? Need another second?â
âFuck me already, Garrickâ You tease propping yourself up on your elbows.Â
Kyle smirks at you and slowly enters his dick stretching you out; he leans down closer to your face and you both moan on each other mouth as he enters. Slowly enters, and then draws back, just to enter a bit more. Little by little, as he kisses your mouth passionately. Your hands on his back slightly scratch his skin making him groan softly between moans, his tongue enters your mouth caressing your own.
This all started as a way to get Gaz in trouble, but honestly, you are starting to hope it doesn't work. Just so you have to try again.Â
âFuck, doll. Such a sweet lovely cuntâ He mumbles, already losing his mind, punctuating each word with a roll of his hips. âSucking me in so fucking nice.â
It shouldn't turn your own as much, such crude words, but you are not really thinking clearly and every word that leaves Gazâs mouth is like a compliment to your core that makes you clench against his dick.Â
âDo you like that, doll?â He asks against your neck dropping little open mouth kisses. âHm? When I tell you how fucking godly you feel, luv?â
âYes, fuck, yesâ You moan back, curling your legs and pushing him closer, wanting him to go deeper as if you were not feeling him up to your cervix already.
His hand found its way down to your clit, circling it with his fingertip, making you meowl at the sudden extra stimulation. You can feel your orgasm approach, and you open your eyes to look at Kyles's face.
But when you open your eyes, the first thing you see is Price leaning against the doorframe; cigar in hand, a disapproving look on his face and a formidable hard erection on his pants. You lock eyes with him, a shameless smile creeping in and making Price shake his head with a similar smile on his face.Â
The focus quickly moves back to Gaz when he starts to thrust more shallowly, rubbing your clit quickly. âCum for me, please. I wanna feel you come around me, please, please, doll, please.â He moans against your skin, and completely ignoring Price's presence, you come undone in harmony with Gaz.Â
Little black dots blur your vision for a second because of the surprising pleasure, almost missing the way Gaz moans your name we come undone following you. You are not sure if you are seeing or imagining when you see Price walk out of the room, and when you try to raise your head to see you come face to face with Gaz. âYou okay, luv?â He asks with heavy breathing looking at your face and smiling.
You nod at him smiling, simmering in the afterglow of your orgasms. Only breaks away when something drops next to your head on the bed.
Gaz and you turn to look at Price who is now standing behind Gaz. âShit.â Gaz mumbles trying to peel away from you, only for Price to press a hand on his back pushing him back against you making you both groan since Gaz is still inside you.
âNo, no, please, don't stop on my behalf. I wouldnât like to bother you.â He says dryly, no vestige of humour in his voice.
Gaz looks at you, making eye contact for a second until both of you turn to look at whatever it was that fell next to you, and when you see the lube bottle it finally sinks in what the two of you have just done.Â
Both of you quickly try to look at him, kind of guilting the other to not get the short side of the stick. âSettle down you pair of brats.â Price says, he sits on the back of Gazâs thighs, pressing him deeper making both of you softly moan again. He uncaps the bottle, pouring a fat blob of it in his fingers and pulling Gazâs hair back making him arch his back once he throws the bottle back. âUnlike this brat, Iâm not gonna fuck you, birdie. But the two of you put on such a show that has me in need of some⊠release.â He says while he caresses Gazâs hole with his fingertips, getting through the muscle ring as he enunciates the last word.
âShit, CaptainâŠâ Gaz moans, feeling your cunt clench when you feel his dick twitch back to life for a second time. âDonât âCaptainâ me now, Kyle. What about your truce? Did any of my words get to your head or was all your blood down on your dick when I was talking to you?â
Gaz is not the only one getting the reprimand, a new cocktail of feelings is developing inside you. There are some hints of shame, the shame of getting caught mid-orgasm, the shame of Price barely acknowledging you at all, and the shame of feeling like you are intruding on whatever arrangement they had before you came into the picture. Again, the little self-aware thoughts that permanently reside in your mind appear, making you aware of the situation.
A loud moan from Gaz brings you out of it before they can materialise, and you come face to face to the fuck out face of Price after bottoming inside of Gaz. Having sex with Gaz was gentle, with more roll of hips and deep thrusts; but Price? He is obviously annoyed with the both of you, and his hard and fast thrusts are proof of it.
You can feel Gazâs dick hardening inside you stretching you again. And even though he isnât physically pulling in and out, Price's thrust forces his hips to roll against you giving you a delicious constant stimulus both inside and against your clit. That, joint with the fact that Gaz is moaning in such a filthy way against the skin of your neck quickly has you moaning in tandem with him. Bitting your lips to quiet them, feeling like they are not wanted, like you are just collateral damage to Price and Gaz's little get-together.
You force your eyes close when you feel Price look at you, he furrows his eyebrows when he notices you looking uncomfortable. Are you not enjoying it? Why do you turn away from him?
He switches his rhythm, caressing Gazâs hips with a hand and bending down to cup your face with the other. He grazes your bottom lips freeing from your bite and drops his thumb inside your mouth making you lick it. He drops down to your ear to whisper: âDon't run from me, sweetheart. Not again, please.â
He raises his hand on Gaz's hips to hug him on his chest, pulling him close to him, and biting him on his shoulder. With what little space that earns Gaz, he begins to move between you and Price, earning a moan from everyone in the room.Â
It is such a filthy scene, so porn-worth, still, there is such a palpable sense of care from everyone involved. Fuck, the moment they get bored of you it's going to hurt like a bitch.Â
âI can't!â Gaz moans, the overstimulation getting the best of him. Poor boy getting his prostate destroyed and his dick milked at the same time. You can't barely manage yourself, you pity him. But again, that's what he gets for snitching.Â
âYes, you can. And you will.â Price moans against his neck, and at the same time he drags his hand down your body just to rub your clit causing a chain reaction when you clench for the reaction, causing Gaz to groan and clench as well.Â
Is not much longer until you feel Gaz finish inside you for a second time, drooling against your shoulder skin while he hugs you needy of something to ground him. You quickly hug him back when you feel yourself spilling over the edge, and just a couple of seconds later Price finishes as well inside of Gaz.Â
He drops himself over the two of you earning a groan from you for being squished by both men, but you only get a chuckle in return from the both of them. âAt least like this, we know you arenât going to go running again.â Gaz murmurs against your skin only for you to hear, warming your heart.
âThe two of you are gonna give me a headache, I just know.â Price mumbles kissing his bite mark on Gazâs shoulder while making eye contact with you. âGet washed, dressed and come down to the living room. We have a little meeting the five of us.âÂ
When he goes to sit up, you quickly grab his shirt pulling him close and ask softly. âCan we stay like this for a little more, please?â The neediness and clinginess being too hard to ignore.
Kyle and Price look at you as if you are the most precious thing on the whole planet and quickly nod going back to the weird body pile you were on. âYeah, of course we can.â
Heyaa, how are you? đ
Hope you liked the new chapter, please please drop a comment if you like it or if there is any scenarios you would like me to include đ

The show hasn't been over for two minutes yet when I feel two strong hands on my waist, gripping tight and pulling me backwards. I nearly spill my drink on the already sticky floor of this underground bar as Hobie spins me around, and brings his lips crashing down on to mine.
"Oh!" I let out a muffled gasp of surprise, and feel Hobie's lips turn up into a smile as they still rest against mine. He pulls away, and takes my drink out of my hand. He brings it to his nose, and takes a sniff. "Gin?" He wrinkles his nose, and I open my mouth to defend my choice, but he's already downed it in one gulp.
"Let's get out of here," he says, grabbing my hand and pulling.
"Oh, okay - bye!" I say over my shoulder to the guy I was talking to at the bar - a big fan of the band, who stands with his jaw agape. I find it awkward to mention that I'm sort of, semi, casually but not really casually, dating a band member. It feels like bragging, probably because I'm so proud of it.
We're outside in the cool night air before I know it, and there's a ringing in my ears from the show.
"Did you like it?" Hobie asks as we turn right, heading towards my apartment.
"I always like it," I reply, squeezing his hand. "Why did we leave so fast?"
He leans over, smirking down at me. "I want to be alone with you."
--
As I flop back onto the couch, I hand Hobie the beer he requested. He takes it, and immediately leans forward, setting it on the coffee table. before even taking a drink.
Unable to help myself, I pick it up and place it on the coaster that was only inches away.
Hobie rolls his eyes, but he's smiling. "You can't spend your whole life cleaning up after me."
I shrug. "Sure I can."
He bumps his shoulder into mine, and I lean back into him. Even though I enjoy spending the weekends out with Hobie, lingering in the bars after his shows until the wee hours, it feels so much more my speed to be back home before midnight, relaxed on the couch, just the two of us.
"This is nice," I say with a contented sigh. Hobie's feet are up on the coffee table, and my legs are crossed, one of my knees resting in his lap. He runs his fingers over my bare leg, starting on my shin and up over my knee. The lights are off, and the dull light of a horror film is the only thing lighting the room. I don't really like scary movies, but Hobie enjoys them as background noise.
I lay my head on his shoulder as his hand moves further up, brushing against the fabric of my skirt, and pausing for a moment as if to ask for permission.
We've been seeing each other for a while, enjoying each other's company and getting to know each other, but physically, it hasn't gone all that far. It almost has, a few times, but Hobie's always had some emergency to attend to.
I feel a little foolish... but I'd almost like to be able to call him my boyfriend before we go any further. I know we're adults, but the label means something to me, anyway.
When I don't protest, his fingers snake up under my skirt, leaving goosebumps in their wake. My breathing is coming more rapidly now, my heart pounding, and his fingers are almost at my panties now. I'm stiff as a board, tense, waiting for his next move.
"Before we... can I ask you something?" I say.
"Anything, love," he replies, but doesn't move his hand. He's tracing soft circles on my inner thigh, and it's hard to gather my thoughts. I remove my head from his shoulder so I can look at him.
His eyes are dark, his lips parted just slightly, and when I glance down, I see the bulge in his pants. I feel an ache in my lower stomach, and wetness between my thighs.
"Are you, or like, am I your..." The words are going as fast as they're coming, and my mouth is dry.
"You're my girl. My only girl. I'm yours." His words are assertive, sure, and his gaze is locked steadily on mine.
I grab his shirt, pulling him to me for a desperate kiss, so elated with his words and so beyond ready for him to do absolutely anything he wants to me.
Leaning back to lay on the couch, I pull him so that he's on top of me, he settles between my legs while his tongue explores my mouth.
His hand finds its way up my thigh again, and runs underneath the waistband of my underwear. His thumb dips down and brushes softly over my clit, and I gasp.
So does he.
"What's that?" he asks, and a blush settles over my cheeks. He sits up just a little, so he can look me in the eyes. "Is that a... piercing?"
I purse my lips a little and nod. "Yes."
"Fuck me, Y/N." He brings his mouth back to mine with twice the fervor of before, and pulls my panties to the side as he does, running two warm fingers over my clit, down to my entrance, and back. "I can't believe... you have that pierced. Oh, fuck, I'm so hard," he moans into my mouth, and I arch my back off the couch as he uses his fingers to trace circles around my piercing.
"Oh, Hobie," I moan, grasping his back. He sits up suddenly, removing his hand from me, and I collapse back onto the couch in a huff.
He takes his vest and shirt off, and then pulls my panties and skirt down over my legs. There isn't a moment to breath before his face is between my legs, and he takes my clit into his mouth, sucking and biting gently, then dragging his tongue down to my entrance to gather the wetness that is quickly forming there.
"Hobie!" I gasp, holding his shoulders tightly. He doesn't let up. He brings up two fingers, teasing at my entrance as he takes my clit back into his mouth, and pushes them gently inside me. "Oh, God," I moan, pressing down onto his fingers as they fuck me.
He's making the most delicious noises, humming and grunting and moaning as he works, showing me no mercy. I feel absolutely desperate with need, and every time he thrusts his fingers in, I grind down on them.
"Oh, god, oh, shit," I gasp as he brings me closer and closer to the edge. He rolls the piercing around his mouth with expert precision, working delicately and then biting down, keeping me always guessing, driving me to ecstasy.
He pulls away just for a moment to look up at me. "Cum for me," he demands, and when he brings his lips back to my swollen mound, I explode. I scream his name as I do, unashamedly loud in my orgasm, and he continues his assault, giving me wave after wave of pleasure, until I am absolutely exhausted.
He brings his head up to mine, and grabs my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"What the fuck, Y/N?" he says with a teasing smile, and kisses me firmly. "That's a hell of a surprise."
I grin shyly back at him. "That's the point."
"You're so... innocent. Your ears aren't even pierced! You almost never swear. You go to church, for christ sake!"
I roll my eyes. "Only on holidays with my parents."
"Still," he replies with a laugh. "What a fuckin' treat."

Day 7: Free
@azrielappreciationweek
Neither Cassian or Rhysand knew why Nuala and Cerridwen insisted on getting Azriel home from his mission as fast as possible.
They did not know that Azriel had the same agreement with all of his spies.
If anything dangerous, anything at all, happened in Ironcrest, they would tell him immediately.
Because Ironcrest was where his entire heart lived.
âBut if itâs something important about Ironcrest, we would need to know,â Rhys tried to get the twins to speak.
They just looked at each other and in the end nodded in agreement.
âThere has been a rebellion in Ironcrest,â Nuala spoke.
Cassian felt his entire body freezing. What? How did that happen? They had been watching the males in Ironcrest for months now!
âThe leaders tried to clip one of the girlsâ wings and all of the females in the camp went together to stop them,â Cerridwen continued.
The females rebelled against the males. This was not good. Cassian couldnât image all the terror the females must have gone through.
âTheyâre all locked inside the leaderâs house and all the children they could find is locked inside the âschoolââ Nuala explained.
Rhys had heard enough.
âCassian,â he started and Cassian knew immediately that this was the High Lord speaking. âGet as many illyrians you can and make sure theyâre on our side. We need to intervene before this gets too out of hand.â
Cassian stood up and was ready to leave when Azriel rushed through the door.
âWhatâs going on?â He asked looking directly at Nuala and Cerridwen, but it was Rhys that answered.
âThere has been a rebellion among the females in Ironcrest,â Rhys stated in his neutral High Lord voice. âI need you to-â
But Rhys didnât manage to finish the sentence before Azriel had started moving.
âWhere are you going?â Cass asked, but Azriel didnât stop.
âGo with him,â Rhys commanded. âIâll get the illyrians.â
Cassian rushed to get to his brother.
âIâm going with you,â he said.
âHurry up then,â was Azrielâs only answer.
Cassian expected him to refuse, but this only made things easier for him.
The second Cassian was close enough, Azriel grabbed him and shadow walked. And after one small break in the middle of Illyria, they ended up in Ironcrest.
Azriel let go of him and immediately started moving towards a small house. The lowest of the two floors looked like it was a restaurant, but Cassian had never been there.
Azriel ripped open the door and started looking around.
âMia?â He shouted. âMia, itâs safe. You can come out now. Itâs Azriel. I have my friend Cassian with me. Do you remember me talking about Cassian?â
His behavior confused Cassian. Who was Mia?
âAz, what are you doing?â Cassian asked.
âYou can either leave or help me look,â Azriel spat back.
The two of them continued up the stairs and walked into a small bedroom.
âMia?â Azriel said again, more softly this time. âYou can come out, I promise itâs safe.â
A careful knock shifted their attention towards the end of the bed.
Azriel sat down on his knees and knocked once on the floor. Cassian was starting to worry his brother had gone mad when the floor near the bed answered with not one, not two, but three knocks.
Azriel knocked four times and suddenly the plank at the bottom of the bed was moved. Up from the floor came a small illyrian girl. She couldnât have been older than four.
âThere she is,â Azriel said and opened his arms. The girl ran into his chest and Azriel picked her up. âAre you unharmed?â
The girl nodded into Azrielâs chest.
âYou did so well, Mia,â Azriel continued and kiss the top of her head.
âMomma said not to come out unless it was her or you,â the little girl said in between her soft sobbing. âI tried to be quiet, but I was so scared.â
Azriel cooed at her and brushed some hair away from her face.
âWas there someone here that wasnât me or momma?â
âNo, daddyâ the girl answered.
Cassian felt his eyes widened at the two of them. Azriel had a daughter? A daughter he didnât tell him about?
Azriel met his confused look and just shrugged at him.
Cassian just mouthed âwhat the hell?â at his brother.
Azriel just mouthed back âlaterâ.
With his daughter still tucked safely into his chest, Azriel and Cassian started to move down the stairs. Thatâs when Rhys contacted them.
âFeyre and I are at the school. I have about 15 illyrians, we need to get going. How fast can you get here?â Rhys asked them.
âWeâre there in five minutes,â Cass replied.
The two of them rushed towards the school, Azriel walked a lot slower than usual as all his attention went into comforting Mia.
She had cried herself to sleep by the time they arrived.
The school was a mess. The older teen girls were trying to comfort the youngest kids. Some held babes that were no older than months, others held each other as they cried in terror.
Cassian soon noticed Madja and some other healers from Velaris that were comforting and healing.
âRhys and the otherâs already left,â Feyre suddenly stood in front of them. âWho is that?â
She noticed Mia clinging to Azriel and Cass saw how she immediately started worrying about the little girl.
âHer name is Mia,â Azriel told her, but left out the important detail of her being his daughter. âI need you to watch her. Please donât leave her out of your sight, her mother would kill me.â
Feyre nodded and Azriel carefully placed Mia in Feyreâs arms. He gave his little girl a small kiss, before he nodded at Feyre and made his way out with Cassian.
Cassian got more and more curious about the little girlâs mom and hoped that she would be okay.
Feyre held the little girl until she woke up. After Azriel had left it only took about fifteen minutes before she started to stir and wake up.
She looked up at Feyre with confused and tired eyes.
âYouâre not momma,â she said with a yawn.
âNo, Iâm Feyre. And a friend of mine told me that youâre Mia.â
Mia only nodded at her.
âDo you know where momma is? Or where daddy went?â
Feyre felt her heart break a little at her questions. She had no idea how any of the females in the camp was doing. And if her dad was an illyrian from this camp, he probably wasnât the nicest.
âIâm afraid I donât know, sweetieâ Feyre answered honestly.
âDaddy saved me, why did he leave?â She asked.
Her father saved her? The male that had been carrying her was Azriel. He couldnât be her father, right? She would have known about that, wouldnât she?
Feyre spent some time looking closer at the girlâs face. She had dark drown her and brown eyes, but so did most illyrians.
Thatâs when she noticed the small shadow twisted into the girlâs hair.
âDo you know your fatherâs name?â Feyre asked.
âDaddyâs name is Azriel and mommaâs name is Y/N and they love me very much,â Mia answered.
Even though it was a shock, Feyre couldnât say she was too surprised at Azriel having a secret family. The entire male was secrets, so of course he hid some from them as well.
âYour daddy went to help his brothers help your mother,â Feyre tried to explain.
âWhen will they come back? Momma promised to sing me to sleep.â
Feyreâs heart broke even more. How could she lie to this sweet little girl?
âIâm sure she will sing you to sleep as soon as possible.â
Feyre had been at the school for five hours before her mate informed her of the first females making their way to them.
The entire school turned into a mess. Females everywhere were crying. Some had lost their mothers and sisters, others had lost their ability to fly.
There was also the occasional happy reunion.
Madja and the rest of the healers were working so fast trying to save some lives or wings.
Feyre held Miaâs hand as they moved through the school.
The little girl had neither spoken nor slept for the last five hours since their last conversation. She had been clinging to Feyre the entire time.
Feyre started to become anxious to find her mother. Mia had not eaten in ages, but she simply didnât trust anyone that wasnât her mother or Azriel apparently.
The two of them moved slowly through the school. Mia looked anxiously around and after about an hour of looking, they finally found who they were looking for.
âMia!â A cry filled voice said.
Feyre turned and immediately found the sweetest looking eyes. Mia let go of her hand and started running.
The female was currently helping another female dressing her wounds, but she stopped the second she saw her daughter.
Mia ran into the Y/Nâs arms.
âMomma,â Mia cried multiple times.
âIâm here my little fly,â she answered. âIâm so proud of you Mia.â
Mia almost melted into her motherâs embrace and it seemed like her mother did the same.
âThank the mother youâre okay,â the female muttered.
After a while the Y/N looked up at Feyre and her eyes widened. She moved to stand and picked up Mia.
âThank you so much, my lady,â she said with a nervous nod. âThank you for everything.â
âNo need to apologize. I just did what I would want someone to do with my son if I wasnât there.â
âBut Iâm sure youâre so busy and you still took time to watch my Mia. Thank you so much. Mia, have you thanked the High-â
Y/N turned her head and noticed a sleeping Mia in her arms. Feyre almost felt Y/Nâ relief and saw how much she loved her daughter.
âShe didnât sleep much after Azriel left. And I havenât been able to make her eat or drink.â
Y/N just nodded still not looking away from Mia.
âIs he okay?â She asked with a soft voice.
Feyre absolutely loved the feeling of happiness she felt when she realized the female was talking about Azriel.
âI havenât heard from them in an hour or so, but Iâm sure heâs okay. Iâll tell you the second I know.â
âThank you.â
Cassian, Rhys and Azriel rushed towards the school.
It took almost ten hours, but they had been able to threaten the camp leader to stop wing clipping forever. Moving forwards, Cassian and his men would watch the camp more closely.
The three of them were exhausted, but nothing stopped them from making sure all the females were now safe.
They walked in through the doors and immediately saw Feyre.
Cassian saw almost all the tension leave Rhysâ body at the sight of his mate. He could not wait until he got home and could snuggle up with Nesta.
Rhys gave Feyre a strong hug and a small kiss, before Azriel interrupted them.
âWhere is she?â He asked and Cassian noticed the absence of Mia.
âTheyâre over there,â Feyre answered softly and pointed towards one of the corners.
Azriel immediately rushed towards the corner. He almost fell to his knees and embraced Mia and the female that held her.
Miaâs mother, Cassian realized.
âHave I missed something?â Rhys asked with a raised brow and a small smile. He was looking at Azriel and his girls.
âAzriel apparently has a daughter,â Cassian said.
âNot exactly,â Feyre informed softly. âMia is Y/Nâs daughter and Y/N and Azriel started dating a few months ago. They have known each other for a while longer, but Y/N wanted to make sure he was the right for her and Mia before she introduced them. Mia has also recently started calling Azriel her dad.â
The three of them look over at the small family with tired, but smiling expressions.
âHe looks happy,â Cassian broke the silence.
âHe absolutely does,â Feyre agreed.
âIâm happy for him,â Rhys said and the two others agreed.

safer dreams
spencer reid x fem!bau!reader ||
summary: it's not easy to keep someone safe in your nightmares, something Spencer knows all too well.
word count: 2.3k
warnings: fluff || there was only one bed || brief talks of CM themes (nothing graphic)
Exhaling slowly and processing what she could see in front of her, she let out a small huff of frustration. Her feet ached and her back felt tense from the day. The team had pinned down their current Unsubâs geographical profile which had led them on a tense chase which, had it not been for Spencerâs quick trigger finger, might have ended with her meeting a bullet.
After such an intense case the team had decided to stay the night in a local motel and hit the runway early in the morning. Hotch had insisted, they all needed a night to rest and decompress before they had to go back and meet the paperwork waiting for them in Virginia.
All she wanted was to crawl into bed and rest her muscles. But of course, nothing ever happened that smoothly. There hadnât been enough rooms for everyone at the motel, meaning everyone had to double up. It wasnât something they hadnât done before, and over the phone, the motel owner had promised the rooms all had twin beds.
The day had been exhausting, and now she realised after taking in the room in front of her that she had another problem to deal with.
Spencer let the door shut behind him as he came up behind her. Letting his go bag drop to the floor with a light thud. He flexed his fingers allowing the circulation to come back to where the straps of his bag had cut it off.
âWhatâs wron⊠Oh,â His own eyes caught the layout of the hotel room and landed on exactly what caused his co-workerâs reaction.
The room was small, the door to the bathroom tucked into the corner to the left of the entrance, there was no room for a desk or table but theyâd squeezed in a small two-seater sofa. The burgundy plush carpet radiated the warm glow from the bedside lights and cast the room in a cosy ambience. But there was a problem, clearly just a miscommunication with the booking.
One bed.
âIâll go back to the front desk; I swear Hotch told me the motel owner told him earlier that there were twin beds for the team.â He knew it was simply a case of human error. A case of mixed-up keys and booking information. It really wasnât a big deal, so why did it feel like such a big deal?
âSpence, we knew we already had to double up, and they had a no vacancies sign.â She sighed, allowing her feet to travel across the carpet to the other side of the room. âItâs fine.â
âMaybe they gave us the wrong room, Iâm sure they can swapâŠâ His reasoning was futile, he didnât need to be a genius to realise there was no negotiating with a no vacancies sign. It was almost like he was trying to talk himself down from a ledge, trying to make sense in his mind the panic he was feeling rising in his chest.
âItâs almost 2 am. If it was a mistake, Iâm sure the couple who have our twin beds are fast asleep.â She had her back to him, facing the small sofa.
She dropped her own go bag on the blush cushion and stretched her arms above her head. The movement caused her shirt to rise just enough that a sliver of her back hit the light, showing two distinct dimples at the bottom of her spine. The image caught Spencerâs eye. It was an innocent move, but his gaze felt all too intimate. With the proximity of the four walls surrounding them, and the quietness of the room it caused an irregular beat in his heart that he was certain was audible and he snapped his eyes away. He swallowed thickly, glaring at the threadbare curtains shutting out the beams of moonlight.
âWeâre the FBI.â He spoke almost factually as if the authority of the title could force the hotel to rouse a sleeping couple and get them to move rooms, simply for the convenience of guarding his own feelings.
âSpence. Itâs fine with me if itâs fine with you.â Her voice was quiet, tiredness lacing its way into her speech. She rubbed a hand up her forearm absentmindedly, and if Spencer was in the right mind to focus on profiling her behaviour, he might have deduced that the action was caused by nerves.
âIf whatâs fine?â He stuttered, his brain not quite working to its usual capacity when he met her tired eyes. She raised an eyebrow, almost annoyed but not quite committed enough to it.
âThe bed. We can share for one night. Itâs just one night.â His eyes held a panicked glint. She wasnât to know that the problem wasnât that he was going to have to share a bed with her. The problem was he was worried sheâd realise exactly how much he wanted to share a bed with her. His lack of response made her uneasy. Spencer Reid was very rarely lost for words. âIf youâre uncomfortable I can sleep on the sofa.â
âItâs tiny, and you almost got shot todayâŠâ He stammered, suddenly regaining control of his runaway thoughts long enough to register the lengthy silence between them. She nodded, almost shyly, and his throat closed as he realised how sheâd inferred his words. âIâm not uncomfortable, donât sleep on the sofa. Thereâs no way I can let you sleep on the sofa. Thereâs enough room for both of us in the bed.â
There was a pause, a shift within the room as if the atmosphere had moved. A gentle smile crept across her face, and it managed to relax Spencer. The lamplight cast a golden haze across the room and her face looked angelic in the low lighting. A breathy sigh left her lips with the force of an almost chuckle.
They settled into their respective evening routines, turning off their lights in tandem before letting sleep wash over them as gently as the ocean.Â
___
Spencer jolted awake after feeling a swift kick to his shin. Panic ripped through his body as his eyes scanned the moonlit room. He couldnât see any imminent danger and his brain fought through the fog of post-sleep confusion. His senses kicked in and he instinctively reached a hand across the bed in search of her. She was shaking, sighs and almost gasps slipping through her lips at a barely audible volume.
He held his breath while he watched her movements waiting. Her shaking continued, a strangled mix of a moan and a yelp left her throat and her arm shot out searching for something. Spencerâs heart picked up its pace, his brows furrowed in concern. He considered reaching for the light but before his sleep-drenched body could she sobbed, a garbled, purely fearful ânoâ.Â
She tossed side to side so violently Spencer thought she might throw herself from the bed. Without overthinking it he sat up and leaned over her. His body halted the thrashing movements and, in her sleep, she grabbed his bicep with wincing firmness.
He held her, with gentleness and enough security that she couldn't throw herself around. One hand went to her hip the other held himself up. Her eyes shot open, sparkling in the darkness with the wetness of un-spilled tears, a scream stuck in her throat, retreating when her eyes recognised Spencerâs soft gaze above her.
âHey... Hey, itâs okay. It was just a nightmare. Youâre okay.â He breathed, hovering above her, he moved his hand from her waist to rest it at the side of her head as if to hold her in place and stop her from injuring herself. Her hand gripped his bicep loosely, the thin material of his pyjama shirt soft between the pads of her fingers. Her breathing matched the rapid beat of her heart and Spencer - without thinking - lifted his hand from the pillow to stroke the side of her face.
It was meant to be comforting, to show her that she wasnât alone. But the gesture, in the cool pooling light of the late hour, seemed entirely too intimate. He watched as her breathing began to slow and her fear slipped out as a quiet whimper, leaving her in the quiet safety of their shared room, their shared bed.
âIâm hereâŠâ Spencer whispered, his hand lightly tracing the shape of her face. He felt a strange tightness in his chest as he watched her slowly find her way back to reality, her grip on his arm lessening.
His gaze lingered on her face, taking in the softness of her features in the dim light. The silence was deafening, yet comforting, a shared moment of vulnerability and intimacy in the aftermath of her nightmare. "You're safe," he reassured her, his voice barely a whisper in the quiet room.
He could smell her perfume, it mingled with the dusty smell of the motel, sweet and undeniably her. He didn't know how long they stayed like that; the seconds ticked by with no accountability. The moment felt suspended in time, her eyes went from glassy to sparkling in the pale light and he felt her relax under him. He finally pulled away, his hand lingering in the space between them for a moment before he retreated to his side of the bed, the echo of her nightmare still lingering in the quiet room.
It was Spencerâs turn for his heart to hammer in his chest. Her breathing had steadied and she shifted, hand stretching out to find Spencer's in the empty space between them. The reigniting of contact made Spencer's breath hitch in his throat. He turned to face her, but the fear in her eyes was replaced with something else. He didn't have to be a profiler to know what that look meant. It was the same look that haunted his own reflections.
At that moment, under the soft glow of the moonlight spilling through the window, Spencer thought how pretty she looked. Silence spilt between them, she swallowed gently, blinking her eyes rapidly to quell any tears building.Â
âYou kept me safe.â Her voice came out as a whisper, a kind of admission with more behind it than just the nightmare.
Her words hung in the air, a quiet acknowledgement of the intimacy of the moment. He didnât respond, because for once he didnât know how to. He didnât have a statistic or fact to explain how he felt at that moment. Instead, he squeezed her hand gently, a quiet acknowledgement.
âDo you get them often?â He whispered, genuine concern lacing through, the warmth seeping from his chest to his fingers where if he focused, he could feel her pulse. He wasn't sure if she'd even want to talk about it.
She paused, her gaze dropping to where their hands were intertwined. 'More often than I'd like.' Her voice was barely more than a whisper, a vulnerability seeping into her words that Spencer had never heard before. He realised just how close they were in that moment. So close he could see the exact shade of her eyes and the way her brow furrowed when she felt she was being too honest. She always seemed so confident, especially at work.
Being vulnerable was not a luxury many could afford in the BAU.
'And what about you, Spencer?' she asked, her gaze meeting his again. 'Do you ever have nightmares?' It was an unexpected question, one that caught him off guard.
'Sometimes,' he admitted, the truth slipping out before he could stop it. Her fingers lightly tightened around his as if bracing for impact. He squeezed his eyes shut, thinking of his night terrors.
âWhat are they about?â She breathed, in a hushed way that sounded like she was almost afraid to ask.
âYou.â His answer was faster and breathier than enunciated. As if that might take away from the confessional impact.
âYou have nightmares about me?â She took a genuine pause, letting go of his hand and sitting up slightly so she was resting on her elbows looking down at him. He scrunched the duvet up in his now empty palm, holding himself.
âNo! Not about you. I mean, yes about you. About losing you. Like today, I thought I was going to lose you today, and without you, itâd be unbearable. I donât know what Iâd do if I lost you like I do in my nightmares.â His words were a whisper in the stillness of the night. Rambled at his usual speed as if the pace would disguise the weight of the feeling rising in his chest. It was panic, mixed with almost shame.
âBut you kept me safe.â She stated, reaching out to unfurl his hand from the covers as if taking tension away from him like autumn takes the leaves from trees.
âI donât always manage to in my dreams.â He sighed, looking up at her through his lashes. She was quite beautiful and in that second it scared him how much he cared.
"I guess we'll just have to keep each other safe, then," she murmured, a soft, genuine smile tugging at her lips. She rested a hand on his cheek and he instinctively leaned into her, as agreement settled over his features.
Spencer placed a hand atop hers as it stroked his face with more tenderness than he was sure heâd ever experienced. "I guess we will," he smiled a true and honest smile that happily made a home across his whole face.Â
They fell into a comfortable silence, and she lay back down beside him, this time with no space separating them. Their hands fell to their sides, fingers instinctively finding each other and intertwining. The fear and tension of the nightmare had evaporated, leaving the quiet intimacy that the two had just shared.
Sleep began to reclaim them and they both felt safer next to each other just from the knowledge that theyâd be there, ready to protect each other from whatever nightmares the future held.

âGood evening, Gotham City. Breaking news!
âThe Gotham City Police Department has had a shocking breakthrough in the case of the mysterious disappearance of the notorious criminal mastermind, the Joker, after his escape from Arkham Asylum.
âThe GCPD has gotten a tip, provided by an anonymous source, that confirms the Joker is⊠dead. You heard that right, folks. The Joker is dead!
âThe photo on screen right now was anonymously sent out to the GCPD. It appears to be a zoomed-in picture of the Jokerâs lifeless body, with another person whose identity is currently unknown being cut off.
ïżœïżœNow we canât show you the entire image due to its graphic nature, but I assure you, the details are unmistakable. Itâs him.
âAfter years of terrorizing our city, it seems we might finally be rid of this menace for good. Itâs a moment many in Gotham never thought they'd ever see. Already, some are calling it a cause for celebration, a long-overdue end to the madness.
âOne can only hope his reign of terror over the citizens of Gotham is finally gone for good. This could be the dawn of a new era for Gotham.
âThough the identity of the other person in the picture and the cause of death are still unknown, the people at the GCPD are working their hardest to uncover these mysteries. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about this shocking development.
âUntil then, stay safe, Gotham. We may just have something to celebrate tonight!â
The camera cuts away, the headline âJoker Confirmed Deadâ scrolling across the bottom of the screen.

TheCuteOne: Not me.
TheCuteOne: Jason and brother-in-law.
TheHotOne: brother-in-law??!? o.O
Discowing: Brother-in-law?! đ±
TheCuteOne: What Jason said to call him.
BloodSon: Todd and his beloved are moving too quickly. This is extremely suspicious. We should not rule out the possibility of mild control or other enchantments.
BloodSon: It would hardly be surprising if Toddâs mind has been overtaken. I donât suppose it would be too difficult. After all, Todd is rather simple-minded.
Flashlight: Despite the insults, I feel like Damian might have a point
Flashlight: This all seems to go pretty fast, are we sure Jason isnât being mind-controlled or being taken advantage of somehow??
WhyDoesClarkCallYouBabyGirl: That is a very likely possibility we should not rule out. Oracle, how are the investigations into the suspect going?
WhyDoesClarkCallYouBabyGirl: And can my name be changed back now?
Omnipotent: Iâve gotten some basic information that Iâve already compiled into a new file and sent to the bat computer, but nothing of note yet. Most of it seems to be hidden behind a firewall that Iâve been trying to break through but itâs been slow going so far
Omnipotent: And for the chat name to be unlocked and changed you will have to get Jason to no longer be pissed off at you đ«€
Omnipotent: So I would get used to the name if I were you, B
WhyDoesClarkCallYouBabyGirl: And the investigation into the Jokerâs murder and who leaked the picture?
Omnipotent: More dead-ends, though the edited picture seems to have been spread around from Harley Quinn, who got it from Jason, to some of her associates. However, it is unclear who exactly shared it with the GCPD
Omnipotent: Jason seems to be the key component to all of this, so youâll have to get him to spill the beans if we want to get any more info on the case
Sherlock: *link*
Flashlight: What is that?
Sherlock: petition to make the day we were freed of the joker into a regional holiday
WhyDoesClarkCallYouBabyGirl: Red Robin, take that down. We will not celebrate the death of a person.

Flashlight: Signed

âI never thought Iâd find another halfa!â Danny beams at Jason.
âI thought there were only 4 of us, yâknow? And Clockwork never mentioned or implied anything on the contrary. I never thought thereâd be another one of us, especially not seeing as youâre not from Amity, nor do you have any connection with my parents as far as Iâm aware.
âHowâd it even happen? I didnât think there were any more artificial portals around other than ours and Vladâs. Was it a natural portal? Or are there more ectobiologists out there trying to create a rift into the Realms?
âWait, no, sorry, you donât have to answer that. Stupid Danny. Forget I asked that. Itâs too early for us to exchange death stories.
âThough, are you a halfa? You do feel a bit different. The ecto in you is more muted. And itâs strange that I didnât sense it before, now that I think about it. But we can discuss that later. Iâm so glad weâre the same, this is great news! It makes everything so much easier!
âI thought I was gonna have to keep my undeadness a secret from you for a little while before trying to gently break it to you and hoping you wouldnât run away screaming, or have me sent to a psychiatrist again.
âLast time was so not fun and I can still remember Jazzâs unimpressed eyebrow raise as she saw I was her new patient clearly. But hey, thâ"
âWhat is happening to me?â Jasonâs trembling voice cuts off Dannyâs excited rambling.
Danny immediately stops talking and looks back over at Jason. His eyes are still glowing ecto-green, the glow seemingly stuttering like heâs at war with himself over something. Jason is looking right back at Danny as well, his face stony though he almost seems like heâs trying to hold back tears.
But what stills Danny completely is the slightly shaking gun pointed right at his head.

James Potter x plus size, busty fem!reader
CW: insecurities, body image issues, negative self-talk, mentions of sex but no smut
You could hear the panicky tone of your whine teetering towards hysterical, but you swallowed past the lump in your throat as you discarded another article of clothing. The top joined the growing number of other shirts, dresses, and pants littering the floor of your closet. You were disturbingly close to tears and knew if you turned around to see your sweet, handsome boyfriend who had the audacity to sit casually on your bed without a single care in the world, itâd push you over the edge.
Apparently, he did have at least one care in the world.
âYou almost ready, lovie? We have to leave soon if we want to get to Marleneâs on time.â James asked from his place, laying back on your bed as he threw a small stress ball above him and caught it only to fling it upwards again and again.Â
The worst part was how sweet he was about it; youâd never know from his gentle tone or word choice that he was basically accusing you of making the two of you late.
It would have been better if heâd been rude or snide, perhaps more overtly accusative â at least then you would have felt validated in how harsh your next words came out.
âIâm going as fast as I can, James.â
Though you didnât turn away from your closet, you could tell he paused the ball throwing as he calculated your sudden mood change.
âSorry, sweetheart.â He started carefully, moving to a sitting position. âI just know how much you hate being late, is all. I didnât mean to rush you.â
Your next exhale came out a little shaky, but from your place in your closet, James couldnât pick up on it.Â
âI know. Iâm trying.â You said, working overtime to keep your voice even. He must have picked up on some of the tension anyways, as he rose from his place and came to stand behind you, hands moving to your shoulders instinctively. Unfortunately, with your current mindset â your shoulders immediately flew to your ears, effectively shaking him off of your body.
âMaybe you should go without me.â You admitted quietly. Suddenly, the idea of putting on anything except one of your oversized t-shirts and a pair of sweats felt like nothing short of torture.Â
âYou donât want to go?â He murmured just as quietly.
Itâs not that you didnât want to go â although, at this point your answer was leaning heavily towards hell no I donât.Â
You loved Marlene; you were excited to celebrate her birthday, you got her a wonderful present you know sheâll be ecstatic over, and you always had fun with the group when you could all manage to get together. And besides, getting the whole group together was happening less and less now that you were all adults, living separately and working various jobs.Â
So no, itâs not that you didnât want to go.
What you didnât want was to look at yourself in even one more piece of clothing that was either too tight, too frumpy, too lowcut, or showed off too much skin.
Who even bought these clothes? Why do you own them?
If you asked your mother, she would simply say you were âwell-endowedâ, which roughly translated to âyou inherited your grandmothers dreadfully large breasts, darling, Iâm sorry.â
Some may wonder what defines âdreadfully large breastsâ. In your case, it was an H cup.Â
Well-endowed could be used to describe one of those busty models in lingerie ads, not you.
Yours were large, and long, and marked with stretchmarks and not perky in the slightest. Nothing a good bra couldnât fix though, right?
Wrong.
Bras that were big enough for breasts like yours were not at all cute. You had to special order them in most cases, and they were always beige or pink and they never did offer you as much lift you as much as youâd like.
If your boobs were the only part of your body causing you grief, youâd probably relent. But skinny girls donât often have boobs this big, and it wasnât just your tops that were bothering you.
Every pair of jeans and trousers you pulled over your hips felt too snug, too restrictive. You felt as if one wrong move and youâd pop right out of them like one of those Pillsbury biscuit containers.
James interrupted your mournful musings with a gentle âlove?â and brushed the side of your wrist with his finger, clearly hesitant to touch you after youâd shaken him off earlier.
âI canât find anything to wear.â You admitted.
James looked around at the clothing surrounding you before his bemused face turned back to yours. âWhat do you mean, love? It seems youâve found a lot to wear.â
You rolled your eyes and felt the first tear fall. âJames...â But he was already in problem solving mode.
âWhat about this?â He asked as he picked up a tank top you had discarded because the cut was too low, and the straps were too thin.
âI donât have the right kind of bra for that.â
He looked between your bra covered form and the shirt, clearly not understanding what that meant but not willing to argue about it.Â
âOkay...â He said as he dropped the offending shirt back onto the floor. âWhat about this?â
You didnât even bother looking at the shirt he was holding. âIf itâs on the floor, itâs a no.â
âBut why is it a no?â
You looked over to see the button up shirt he was holding. âBecause it makes me look...â fat, was going to be the negative ending of your sentence, but Jamesâ face turned hard as he cut you off.
âBeautiful?â
You scoffed. âSure James, I decided against the shirt because it made me look beautiful.â
âOkay.â James said far more sternly than you believe youâve ever seen him. You turned and grabbed a t-shirt, so you at least werenât being scolded by your boyfriend half-naked.
âAm I attractive?â
You reared your head back at his question â not at all where you thought this conversation was headed. âUhm, yes? Yeah...of course.â
âIâll forgive the hesitation on account of you being upset.â He said severely which caused you to snort a laugh as you wiped tears away from your eyes.
âIs Sirius attractive?â
Your eyebrows furrowed and you could tell by Jamesâ eyes moving towards your nose that you were scrunching it up in confusion.
âThis feels like a trick.â
âYou can answer the question honestly.â
âOkay...yes, Sirius is attractive.â
âOkay. And Mary? Is she attractive?â
âYes.â
James nodded curtly. âAnd would you say that the three of us have good taste?â
âWha-â
âJust answer the question.â
âSure, you guys have good taste, but I donât see-â
âYou want to know what the three of us have in common?â
You sighed and nodded, knowing he was going to tell you regardless.Â
âWe have nothing physically in common â yet you find all three of us attractive. Alternatively, all three of us have had a crush on you.â
You scoffed. âShut up, James.â
âIâm not joking.â He said, and you noticed he was almost just as stern as he was when this conversation began. âSirius said heâd never do anything about it â bro code and all...also heâs like, happy with Moony now or whatever. But Mary had no such qualms; she told me that if things donât work out between the two of us that sheâs throwing her hat in the ring. I made her promise not to tell you - in case you left me for her - but I figured this was a good moment to share.âÂ
You barked a surprise laugh that seemed to ease some of the tension from Jamesâ frame.
âNow, I donât like the way you were just talking about my girlfriend.â He said gently, opening his arms as an invitation; an invitation you quickly accepted as you moved into his embrace.Â
âIâm sorry.â You murmured into his chest.
âYou should be.â He murmured into the hair on your head.Â
âI just hate my body sometimes.â You admitted quietly. He never faltered in his gentle strokes of your back but hummed in acknowledgement.Â
âWell, I love it all of the time, so.âÂ
âI donât see how.â You whined as you pulled back. âMy boobs are saggy, my tummy juts out, Iâm soft everywhere, Iâm covered in stretchmarks.âÂ
âWhoa, whoa, whoa. Youâre just listing some of my favourite things, sweets. Your boobs?â He said as he moved his firm grip to your clothed breasts. âLook at that! Canât even fit them in one hand.â He murmured, eyes glazing as he took in the view of your boob pooling around his large hand. âIf I want to give your tits the attention they deserve, I need to use both hands! And your tummy...â
He moved his hands down your abdomen, albeit with more consideration than heâd shown your breasts. âI have to admit, this is my favourite spot to lay my head when weâre watching movies, but what I love the most about your tummy?â He said with a low growl as he spun you around aggressively, pushing the front of his hard body up against the back of yours, grabbing roughly at your hips/stomach as he moved his lips to your ears. âGives me something to hold onto when Iâm pounding into you from behind, or better yet, as you ride the fuck out of me.âÂ
Your face was a furnace and you were sure James could feel the heat radiating from you as he spun you back to face him.Â
âWhat else were you worried about? Stretchmarks?â He said as he pulled his shirt off in one swift movement, showcasing his demi-god body style. âIâve got them too.â He stated simply as he pointed to marks lining his biceps and pecs, a few on his hips, and pulled his trousers down slightly so you could see them trailing towards his ass.
âI know youâve seen all of these before too â youâre no stranger to my body.â He said with a salacious wink.
âJames...â you moaned, not able to handle anymore sexual innuendos.Â
âOkay, okay. Iâm sure you get the idea.â He relented as he replaced his shirt. âMy point is, youâll look lovely in anything you put on, but Iâd prefer you wear something youâll be comfortable in. I can have my girl suffering in her head all night.âÂ
You rested your forehead against his chest, willing away the tension headache that was forcing its way forward after all you just put yourself (and admittedly, James) through.
âWhatâs wrong with the shirt youâre wearing now?â He asked kindly.
You looked down at the old band-tee, it had a few holes in it and paint stains.
âIt has holes in it and paint stains.â You deadpanned.
âSirius always said to make dishevelled look intentional. Do you have a leather jacket?â He asked, turning toward your closet without waiting for an answer.
Suddenly, James was pulling a leather jacket around your shoulders, and grabbing a pair of heels.
âNow the stains and holes will look intentional. I think you look bad ass.âÂ
You werenât as optimistic, but you turned to observe yourself in the mirror. Even if you didnât see much of a difference, the sight of James looking at you like you hung the moon was enough to convince you to go for it. Either way, youâd be comfortable.
Youâre not sure if James had mentioned anything, but both Sirius and Mary made sure to compliment you on your âpunk rock lookâ when you arrived to Marleneâs party 30 minutes late.Â

Rewinding Us | 4
Pairing: Mason Mount x Reader
Summary: You and Mason built a love story over five years, but after an accident, your memories are wiped away, including any feelings for your constant bickering "rival". Can you remember your love story with Mason, or will you have to start all over?
Word count: 2523
YYou can read more chapters here.
You are the only one I'll ever love Looking back on my life You're the only good I've ever done (ever done) Yeah, you, if it's not you, it's not anyone (anyone) Not anyone
The weather in Manchester was unpredictable, providing you with both happiness and annoyance. When you longed for the chill of winter, the sun would shine and when you craved a dose of vitamin D, the sky would unleash an amount absurd of rain. Today was no exception. It was August and it felt like nature was teasing your wish for some sunshine.
You returned home after a long day at work, packed with groceries for dinner. It had been a week since you'd returned to Manchester, and tonight, you were finally going to see Mason again. He had a reason to visit, something to pick up from the house and since you were aware of everything, he'd simply asked instead of sneaking in when you weren't home.
Since your last encounter, Mason had encouraged you to reach out whenever you had questions about your shared history. True to his word, you had bombarded him with texts, curious about the memories that were slowly coming back to you. The most recent memory had occurred at three in the morning when you dreamed about a dog.
You: Did we had a dog?
Mason was fast asleep when his phone buzzed, the sound jolting him awake. Without moving his face, he reached out and grabbed the phone, his fingers fumbling in the darkness. As he saw your name on the screen, his heart skipped a beat. Worry gnawed at him as he unlocked the phone, fearing the worst.
When he read your question, his relief turned into a mix of amusement.
"She's going to kill me!" He muttered, sinking back into the pillow.
He quickly typed out a reply, attaching a photo of Ace.
Mason: We still do! His name is Ace.
The photo showed Ace sitting beside you by the pool, your smile bright and infectious. Seeing the image, you couldn't help but smile.
That night, you bombarded Mason with questions about Ace, your curiosity insatiable. Later that day, when you turned on the TV and saw him preparing for a match, you let out a curse. You'd completely forgotten about his game. He'd stayed up late, answering your endless questions, when he should have been resting.
Today, knowing Mason was coming over, you asked if he could bring Ace and without even realizing it, you ended up inviting him to dinner. It wasn't a romantic dinner, you kept reminding yourself. Just 'friends' having a meal.
Since the kiss you exchanged in the car, you couldn't stop thinking about him. The constant texting wasn't helping. One moment, you'd despise him, and the next, you'd be imagining what lay beneath his clothes.
Cooking had always been your therapy, you were always good at it, so that wasn't the problem. What made you nervous was not knowing what to wear. A dress? You were at home. It wasn't a date. Why did it matter?
"Just wear something casual but nice." Your friend and coworker, Dianne, said over FaceTime. "Like a blouse or a nice shirt. I mean, Mason would probably love you even if you were wearing a potato sack."
You threw the long summer dress you were holding onto the bed. "You're not helping." You muttered.
"I'm just telling you the truth." She insisted. "That man is so head over heels for you, he wouldn't notice if someone else was in the room."
A blush crept across your face. It was nice to hear those kinds of things, to know you were loved and appreciated. Your past relationships had been a series of disappointments, but with Mason, it seemed different.
"Since we came back, I can't stop thinking about him." You admitted, running your hands through your hair. "It's like⊠something clicked when he told me we used to date. Sometimes I want to punch his stupid face but at the same time IâŠ"
"At the same time, you want to jump on him." Your friend finished your thought.
You groaned, falling back onto the bed. "I hate this!" You exclaimed, tossing your phone onto the mattress making Dianne face the ceiling.
"Girl, I've seen your relationship with Mason. You love him, and he loves you. You're that perfect couple who's still in their honeymoon phase, and it's inspiring to watch." She said, her voice filled with admiration. You listened attentively, her words sinking in. "Don't be afraid to approach him." She encouraged you.
You thanked her for her support and ended the call.
Gathering the clothes from the bed, you opted for a pair of nice jeans and a floral tank top. The weather outside was miserable, but inside the house, it was warm and cosy.
The food was in the oven, and you were chopping tomatoes and onions for the salad when the doorbell rang, making you jump. Ace's excited woof echoed outside the house.
Drying your hands, you hurried to the door barefoot, nearly tripping over the rug. Taking a deep breath, you opened the door.
A wave of happiness washing over you as you saw Ace running towards you, his tail wagging furiously. He'd missed you, that was clear.
You crouched down, welcoming Ace's enthusiastic jumps and licks. Dogs had always been your favourite, growing up with more than one back in the day when you lived with your parents. You spent a few minutes showering him with affection, your worries - or even Mason - temporarily forgotten.
"Hello, Ace." You said, stroking his soft fur. "You're so pretty, you big goofball." Ace's tail wagged with happiness. His eyes, filled with love and adoration, mirrored your own emotions.
Mason stood behind and watched you interact with Ace, a tender smile playing on his lips. His love for you was evident in his gaze.
"Hi." You managed to squeak out, your voice barely audible.
"Hi." He replied, his voice equally soft.
You stood up, Ace disappearing into the house. You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, your nerves showing. Mason mirrored your posture, his hands stuffed in his hoodie pockets.
"Come in!" You insisted, opening the door wider.
Mason mumbled a thank you and stepped inside, the familiar scent of home washing over him. "It smells good." He commented as the smell from the kitchen hit him.
You closed the door behind him and smiled. "Thank you. Dinner's almost ready. I was just finishing the salad."
He followed you into the kitchen. "Need help?" He asked.
"No, you can sit." You replied, continuing with the salad as he sat on a stool by the kitchen island. "Thank you for bringing Ace."
Mason watched as Ace wandered around the kitchen, his tail wagging happily. "Why don't I let him stay here and see if you feel the same way after." He suggested a playful glint in his eye. You stopped cutting the onion, your eyes locking with his. "It was a joke, Y/n." He added, sensing your reaction.
"But he can stay!" You persisted, your eyes sparkling. "I love dogs."
Mason chuckled, his heart melting. "He's your dog too." He said. "It's only fair to share custody."
You grinned, looking down at Ace. "Did you hear that, goofball? You're staying with me!" Ace's tail wagged with enthusiasm. Mason couldn't help but smile at the heartwarming interaction.
Mason had placed the salad on the table when the oven timer beeped. You grabbed the oven gloves and started walking towards the oven, but Ace, catching you by surprise, ran between your legs, causing you to lose your balance.
"ACE!" Mason shouted, his voice filled with both irritation and concern. He quickly reached out, his arm wrapping around your waist and pulling you towards him. Your back pressed against his strong chest and you could feel his warm breath against your ear. "Are you okay?" He asked, his voice laced with worry.
His hand rested on your belly, his warmth seeping through your tank top. For a moment, you felt an overwhelming urge to turn around and kiss him, but you resisted, your heart pounding in your chest. "I'm fine." You whispered, your voice barely audible. "Thank you."
You didn't step away, and neither did he. The warmth of his body against yours was comforting, a familiar sensation that sent a shiver down your spine. You stood there for a moment, lost in the moment until Ace's loud woof broke the spell.
As Mason stepped away, you felt a pang of disappointment. "Let me help you." He offered, taking the oven gloves from your hands.
He carefully removed the food from the oven and placed it on the table. You both sat down, the aroma of the meal filling the air. Ace sat at your feet, his tail wagging hopefully.
The dinner passed in a blur, the awkwardness of the beginning replaced by a comfortable ease. Mason's ability to make you laugh was infectious, and before you knew it, hours had flown by.
As you cleaned up the rest of the kitchen, Mason reminded you of the time. "It's getting late." He said, glancing at the clock. "I guess I should go get my things." You nodded, a pang of disappointment settling in. He dried his hands on the kitchen cloth after helping you and then disappeared upstairs.
You didn't want him to leave. The thought of staying alone in the big house again made you feel unsettled. Having him by your side felt comforting and familiar, and you didn't want that to change.
Ace, curled up on the living room rug, looked up at you. "Guess it's just you and me, goofball." You said, playing with his fur.
A chill had settled in the air, and you shivered involuntarily, so you grabbed the blue Nike hoodie you had left in the bathroom and you pulled it on.
As you sat down on the sofa, Ace eagerly joined you, his head resting on your lap. You turned on the TV, the soft glow illuminating the room.
Mason's footsteps sounded from the hallway. "Y/n?" he called out.
"In the living room." You replied.
"Have you seen a blue hoo--?" He stopped when he saw you wearing the hoodie he was looking for.
You shifted uncomfortably. "Is it your hoodie?" You asked him, realizing why the hoodie was so big on you. "Sorry, I didn't know." You grabbed the ends, ready to take it off, but Mason quickly stopped you.
"It's fine." He said, a playful glint in his eye. "It looks better on you anyway."
You blushed, feeling a warmth spread through your cheeks. "But you wanted it."
"It's fine. I have plenty." He insisted.
"But--"
"Y/n--"
"You can hav--"
"It was an excuse!" He said and you looked at him.
"What?"
Mason ran his hand through his hair. "I found what I was looking for yesterday in one of my suitcases, but you had already invited me over, so, my excuse was going to be the blue hoodie⊠You have on."
"Oh." You looked at him as he looked down in embarrassment.
"The things I do just to be with you." He whispered. He let out a shy chuckle and you gave him a smile. "Sorry."
"You don't need to apologize. I get it. This was your life for five years and I took it from you."
Mason shook his head. "You didn't! The man that hit your car did. It's not your fault." You looked at him, not knowing what to say. Mason took your hand and held it tightly. "We didn't do anything wrong."
You looked down at your hand in his, feeling a warmth spread through you. Your eyes met his, and a smile crept across your face. "Do you want to watch a movie? I know it's late, but you can sleep in the guest room," you suggested.
Mason smiled, his gaze lingering on your face. "I'd like to, but I have training tomorrow morning." He replied.
A blush crept across your cheeks. "Oh, yeah, right."
He took a step closer, his hand still holding yours. "But I would like to take you on a date." He said, his eyes filled with sincerity. "If you want, of course."
Your heart skipped a beat. "I-I would like that." You stammered, your voice barely audible.
Mason squeezed your hand. "Good!" He said, a wide smile spreading across his face. "I'll call you." You nodded. He looked down at Ace and petted him. "You're staying with Y/n, buddy! It's your job to protect her, okay?" The dog gave him his paw and you laughed.
"I'll walk you out." You offered.
You followed him toward the front door. "Just to be clear," He started, stopping himself when you opened the door. "I'm asking you out because I love you and I want you back. It doesn't matter if you don't have your memories back. I want you to fall in love with me again, so, I'm going to do whatever it takes for that to happen." He said. You felt like your legs were going to give up as he leaned in and kissed you softly on the cheek. "Good night, Y/n!"
"Good night, Mason!"
You watched Mason's car disappear down the driveway, a wave of sadness washing over you. You closed the door and leaned against it, letting out a sigh.
A few weeks ago, if someone had suggested you would develop feelings for Mason, you would have laughed in their face. The idea had been absurd, but here you were, feeling sad after seeing him leave.
As you sat down on the sofa, Ace joined you once again. "Do you like Mason, goofball?" The dog looked up at you, his ears perking up at the mention of his favourite human and let out a joyful woof. "Me too! Me too!"
Half an hour later, you were lost in thought when the doorbell rang, startling you out of your trance. Standing up, you approached the door and swung it open, your surprise evident as you saw Mason standing on the doorstep.
"Hey, is everything okay? Did you forget something?" You asked, your voice laced with concern.
Mason's gaze flickered between your eyes and your lips, a hint of something unsaid lingering in his expression. "I re- I remembered you didn't have Ace's food." He stuttered, his words stumbling over each other.
"Oh." You replied, disappointment washing over you. "You want to take him back!"
"No, no. It's not that." He said quickly, shaking his head. He went back to his car and returned with a bag of dog food.
You watched him, a knowing smile playing on your lips. "You didn't have to." You said, your voice soft.
He shrugged, his cheeks reddening. "I thought it would be nice."
Your heart swelled with warmth. "Thank you, Mason." You looked at him, your heart pounding in your chest. "You're sure you don't want to stay over?" You asked, your voice barely a whisper.
Mason hesitated, his eyes locking with yours. He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling. "I'll stay." He smiled and said, his voice barely audible.
Relief washed over you, a smile spreading across your face, as you closed the door.

TLT World Building: The Nine Houses and the Logistics of Space Empires
Building off my earlier post about stele-and-obelisk travel and the River, I wanted to talk about something that's been rattling around my mind for a while, which is subluminary travel and the logistics of the Nine Houses. One of the things that has been brought up as a criticism of Muir's world-building as far back as Gideon the Ninth is that the Empire seems to have very, very fast non-FTL travel, such that Gideon and Harrow travel the 3.3 billion miles from Pluto to Earth in an hour, without using a stele. How, it was asked, does an Empire whose military relies on swords and whose medical knowledge is incredibly uneven at best, accomplish a technological feat of that magnitude?
I think we got an answer for that in Nona the Ninth:
âThat shipâs not big enough for a stele. Donât know if itâs big enough for subluminary travel, even. How did it get here?â Crown leant back in her chair, staring at the projector screen, head balanced in the crook of one golden arm. Nona noticed that her biceps showed even through her shirt, and that there were rubber bandages wrapped around one palm. She said, âOh, thatâs big enough for subluminary travel, Millie. See the double struts, and the massive exhaust? Thatâs a Ziz-class.â ...Crown continued, âThe Ziz isnât Cohort standard. And itâs not as big on the inside as you think. Look at the windowsâsee how thereâre none on the back end? Itâs mostly engine. Not plated either. Itâll get to sublume without many problems ⊠but it definitely doesnât have room for a stele. Camilla is right. It canât travel by obelisk anchor.â Pyrrha said suddenly, âCrown. Howâs the fuel consumption on a Ziz-class ship?â âThirsty,â said Crown, brightening up at being asked. âIts cell would be totally drained after a day in subluminary. It only takes the powerful stuff tooâthalergy-enriched, not just hydrogen blend. Hydrogen blend stuffs up the engine.â
The answer is necromancy. (Because of course it is.) The Empire infuses shuttle fuel with thalergy - and we know that the necromantic specialty of the Second House is to "drain thalergy from any living source and use it," so the Empire can treat thalergy as a fungible resource that they can extract, store, and then use somewhere else. Moreover, we know that the necromantic specialty of the Fourth House is "exciting thanergy into a state of fission" in order to produce explosions.
Since necromancy can easily convert thalergy into thanergy, I think that the Empire's higher-end shuttles are powered by necromantic pulse propulsion, such that shuttle fuel is burned to produce thrust, but then at the same time the thanergy is turned into a massive fission explosion behind the shuttle, producing even more thrust.
I think this also explains why the Second and Fourth are so disproportionately represented in the Cohort, because in addition to producing soldiers for the front lines, they're heavily involved with making the Cohort Fleets move. (I'm going to further speculate that the Fourth make up a lot of the Fleets' pilots, since that would fit their necromantic specialties, the nature of their planet, and their image as gung-ho "go fast" types.) This leads me to a few conclusions:
it explains why the Empire is so focused on short-term extraction; it's essentially stripping the thalergy for fuel to power subluminary transportation in the Dominicus system and beyond, in the same way that we're burning fossil fuels to power our economies today. There is a profound irony in that Mr. Environmentalist John Gaius has so precisely recreated the dynamics of the carbon economy through necromancy.
it explains how logistics in the Nine Houses work. If you can use necromantic fission drives to get from the outer edge of the Dominicus system to the core that quickly, than most of the logistical complexities of running a multiplanetary economy fall away. All you have to do is get your transport shuttle full of goods from the colonies to a stele at the edge of the Dominicus system, and then necromantic fission solves the "last mile problem" of getting your Necro-Amazon "just-in-time" deliveries to the hungry markets of the Third or the Fifth. You don't need to worry about the fact that you can't produce a lot of organic resources on thanergetic planets (especially ones that are space stations and the like rather than fully terraformed), because you just have everything delivered.
it similarly explains how logistics out in the colonies work. Even if you're at the edge of the stele network, necromantic fission shuttles can transport goods between planets in the same solar system with relative ease. It only becomes an issue when you're a ways out from the edge of the network, because that involves burning more thalergy-enriched fuel. Hence why Corona talks about "the Cohort movements didnât make sense to her...shepherd planets got more costly the further the Houses extended themselves."
This makes me think of necromancy in a different way than I had before. Rather than just being about magic and warfare, necromancy is essentially the technology of the Nine Houses (aside from some legacy technologies that they have left over from pre-Resurrection), the tool that they use to solve all of their problems and make their society and economy and government function.

@lara-cairncross I hope you donât mind, but I wrote a little fic about your AU :) This would be Donnie showing his brace to his brothers after his leap of faith.
(Also you can definitely read Donnie & Kendraâs vibes as a crush if you want /pos đ)
===========
âGentlemen, if you would be so kind,â Donnie motions for his brothers to take a seat on the chairs he clearly positioned near the edge of the branch.
âDee, what are we doing here?â Leo sighs, exasperated by his brotherâs dramatics, âYou know I love spending time with you guys, but I actually have deliveries to make today.â
Raph throws an arm over Leoâs shoulders, âPssh, relax Leo, youâre fast enough to make it there in time.â
âOk I know youâre teasing me,â Leo shoots his brother a side eye, before crossing his arms over his chest in defiance, âbut I could definitely make it there and back. With time to spare.â
Mikey laughs while Raph just sighs and they all take their seats.
Theyâre fairly high up in the Pixie Dust Tree, in an area Leo knows not many fairies fly past. Itâs starting to make him a little concerned that his jokes about Donnie murdering Kendra one day arenât jokes anymore.
His brother woke them up early this morning, telling them that he had something to show them, but refusing to answer what it actually is. He also lugged a massive bag with him all the way here, but didnât let any of them help with it. And the chairs being up here already proves that Donnie has clearly planned this out. Itâs really making Leo believe that this is the last heâs ever going to see of Kendra.
âYes, yes we all know Leon is fast,â Donnie bats the statement away and turns to his bag, ânow if I can bring your attention to why I've brought you here today.â
âWhich you still haven't explained, by the way,â Mikey grouches, not quite his sunny self in the dim light of the morning.
Donnie grins in a mischievous way, âAll part of the surprise, dear Angelo! Now I need you all to close your eyes.â
Leo rolls his eyes, but closes them anyway, knowing that if he complains theyâll just spend longer up here anyway. âDonald, if you did something to Kendra, just tell us, itâll make hiding the body easier.â
Mikey snickers beside him.
âIâ Whaâ No! I haven't done anything to Kendra. Not yet anyway,â Donnie moves on quickly, âI made something and youâre going to like it. Trust me.â
Now, most fairies in the Hidden Hollow are under the impression that Donnie doesnât do feelings, an achieved product of his so called âEmotionless Bad-Boy Imageâ. But Leo can hear the excitement in his brotherâs voice. Heâs fiddling with something in the bag, and the suspense is honestly starting to have an effect on Leo. Heâs getting excited too.
âAnd⊠open!â
He opens his eyes (Still semi prepared to see Kendra trapped in some kind of way) and is a little confused by what heâs presented with. Donnie is standing near the edge of the branch. His wings, usually down, are spread proudly on either side of him. The tattered one is covered in something Leo canât quite make out.
Donnie shoots them a smile, and Leo hears a whisper that sounds like âLeap of faith,â and then the tinker fairy drops backwards off the branch and out of sight.
âDONNIE!!â Mikey screams, and Raph leaps out of his chair but Leo, Leo just dives. There's no thoughts about windspeed, hawks, humidity or any of the other things Leo normally has to consider when he flies. Thereâs no thoughts about how stupid his genius of a brother is, or about how if he isnât fast enough Donnie mightâ. No, there is simply the need to move.
And move he does.
He drops like a stone from the height of the Tree, colours blurring past him as he streaks after his brother. His heart is pounding wildly, filled with shock and dread, urging himself to go faster, faster. He thinks he has tears in his eyes, but he tells himself that itâs just from flying at this speed.
He actually moves so fast he overshoots Donnie, who is very safely fluttering in the air.
âDonnie?â Leo rights himself immediately and shoots back up towards his brother. âDonnie! Haha!!â He zips a quick circle around his brother, trying to get his racing heart to calm down. He can see the thing on Donnieâs wing now. Itâs a brace. The contraption covering his tattered wing is so delicate, clearly made by Donnie himself. Thin strips reach up the wing, acting as a scaffold for the pieces to stretch across, giving Donnie enough surface area to generate lift. He might not be into science like his brother, but he knows a thing or two about flying, and Donnieâs design is genius.
Heâs so relieved it takes him a second to realise that they are still very much hovering above the ground which means, âHoly shit! You're flying!!â
Heâs giddy with excitement, this is all heâs ever wanted for Donnie! Leo grabs him by the hands, and spins them in the air with joy. Donnie can clearly sense what Leoâs about to do because he panics and yells, âNardo wait!â but itâs too late, because Leo tosses him upwards and crashes into him with a hug.
âHahaha! This is amazing!â
âOhmigosh! Donnieâs flying!â
Two more sets of arms encircle them. Their other brothers have caught up and Leo can feel in the tightness of his hug how Raphâs panic morphs into shock and then amazement.
âYes, yes I can fly. Hurrah,â Donnie pats the back of Raphâs shoulder, âAlthough my wings are still delicate soâŠâ
They all immediately release Donnie. And then Raph whacks him on the back of the head.
âYou idiot! What were you thinking! You gave Raph a heart attack!â
âWell Iâve done the jump before so I know the brace worksââ
âYou WHAT?â
â âI just needed to show you guys too.â
âYeah but you couldâve warned us Dee.â Mikey pokes him in the shoulder, a hint of Doctor Delicate Touch peeking through.
Donnie shoots him a cheeky grin, âWhereâs the fun in that?â
Leoâs amazed. Heâs still chuckling. Of course Donnie would build himself a way to fly. Something as silly as a tattered wing was never going to stop him. It was only a matter of time.
========
Also not seen:
Donnie pretty much immediately sagging, because his wings arenât used to flying for extended periods yet, and Raph hoisting him onto his shoulders to fly them back to the tree.
========
Anyways hope you enjoyed! Go give Laraâs AU a look. Itâs amazing đ€©

We Get Along Like Snow in New York
Sam Carpenter x reader
Not my gif
Warning(s): canon typical violence, mentions of death, mentions of blood, mostly fluff surprisingly
Word count: 4k words
Request: Sam and reader have gotten extremely close since moving to NYC and living in the same apartment, but when news of Ghostface attacks happening in New York. Sam pushes Reader away, thinking if she pushes her away, she'll be safe and alive. But, when reader is at Gale's apartment, (Dewey was her uncle) She's attacked by Ghostface instead of Gale, Sam and Tara show up to see reader bleeding out in Gale's arms. (She doesn't die) ask
A/N: I changed Dewey being Y/Nâs uncle to father basically because it adds more drama to the story
masterlist
You had been living in New York with your mother ever since your parentsâ divorce, having left behind the small town you had grown up in, and were ready to forget all about your fatherâs untimely death at the hands of a psychopath.
That was how you met Tara Carpenter, or more accurately, how you reunited with her.
Before your parents started arguing over the smallest thing, before your father quit his job, before you left town one day crying, you had been friends with Tara. You liked her because, unlike the rest of your classmates, she didnât stare at you because you were Dewey and Galeâs daughter. She simply liked spending time with you, and you with her, which blossomed into a fast friendship that was sure enough cut short.
You were the best of friends, always hanging out. Sometimes, when your father came to pick you up from school, he would let you and Tara sit in the back of his police car and turn on the sirens, pretending you were dangerous criminals. You would cling onto Tara, giggling as your father joked around; you cherished those moments more than anything now that Dewey was simply a memoryâ a tombstone you couldnât look at without crying.
That was exactly the reason why you reached out to Tara when your mother told you she had moved in with her sister, just like her wanting to leave behind that nightmare. She had happily agreed to meet with you, and you soon found yourself at a bar, drinking and talking, catching up with everything. She had pointedly left behind all that happened in Woodsboro, and you silently agreed, not wanting to remember your father, dead on the ground thanks to her friend. You had spent hours like that, phones on the table face-down so no one could interrupt you, and that was how you met Sam.
Sam was a blurry image to you. You could remember Tara mentioning her probably a little too much when you were young, always talking about how great her sister was at a certain sport, or how she had helped her defeat that big mean guy on a videogame because she couldnât do it. You had never met her, however, because you barely went over to Taraâs, your mother prefering to keep a watchful eye on you just in case. You didnât get much of a chance, however, because she left one day and suddenly all the loud praise was occupied by awkward silence.
Needless to say, you werenât sure what to think of Sam, but she made up your mind for you pretty easily. She walked into the bar like she owned it, a tall figure clad in just a jacket that almost ran towards your table when her brown eyes landed on Tara.
âSam?â Tara asked, leaving her glass of coke on the table to get up. âDid something happen?â
âWho are you?â Sam asked, not even looking at Tara to give her answer. You felt small under her intense stare.
âSheâs Y/N,â Tara said, harsher than you expected. âAn old friend.â Sam gave you another look, as if her eyes were enough to determine if you were a danger to her sister. You stayed still, as if you were being approached by a lion.
âWeâre leaving,â Sam said. Tara gave you an apologetic look, and you simply nodded, watching as she got up and followed her sister. Outside, you saw them arguing, their screams almost sneaking in through the thick walls of the bars. You asked for the tab, thankful that your mother was rich.
What a bitch, you thought, shaking your head as you left the place, walking back towards your motherâs apartment.
A few hours later, Tara texted you to apologize, and once you replied she sent you her address, asking you to come over.
Having nothing better to do, you accepted.
âââ âą đ„ž âą âââ
âIâm so sorry,â Tara said, as soon as she closed the door. You took off your jacket, looking around before you sat down on the sofa Tara had pointed at.
âItâs okay,â you said, accepting the glass of water she handed you.
âGod, I canât stand her,â she said, throwing herself onto the sofa beside you. âSheâs been like that ever sinceââ she gave you a small look before shaking her head. âYou know. Sheâs so overbearing.â
âI get it,â you said, resting the glass on the coffee table. âI mean, you shouldâve seen my mom when I was young. She barely let me go out when we moved here.â
Something like recognition crossed her eyes. âRight,â she said, sitting up. âYour momâs Gale.â
âYep,â you nodded, intertwining your hands together. âYou guys killed the new ghostface together.â Something dark crossed over Taraâs face at the name, and you knew you had said the wrong thing.
âYeah,â Tara said, voice sounding distant even though she was beside you. âYeah, we did.â
âYou know what?â You said, trying to cheer her up. âForget about that. Tell me whatâs your favorite artist.â Tara smiled, nodding as she turned to look at you. She opened her mouth at the same time the front door was opened.
âOh.â
You turned to look at the woman, awkwardly standing by the door. For the looks of it, she was about to bolt from the apartment.
âYou,â Tara said accusingly, rising from the sofa. She poked her sister in the chest with her index finger, and it was your time to wish you could leave this place. You couldnât deal with family drama; you had had enough of it in your childhood.
âMe,â Sam said, allowing Tara to push her further into the apartment and close the door, leaving her no chance but to take the reprimand.
âYes, you,â Tara said. You opened your eyes in surprise when she pointed at you. âYou are going to apologize immediately to my friend for embarrassing her.â
âYouâre the one embarrassing her nowââ
âSamantha,â Tara said. It was funny to see the tall woman being bossed around by her sister, who was almost a head shorter. âYou apologize right now.â
Sam looked into her sisterâs eyes, and nodded. She turned to look at you, and you swallowed. âIâm sorry.â
âItâs okay,â you said, offhandedly. âDonât worry. I get it. My mom is even worse with people she doesnât know.â
Sam nodded, and made a noise of complaint when Tara slapped her arm. âHer momâs Gale.â
She opened her eyes, understanding crossing her face. âShit,â she said, looking defeated. âI didnât know.â
âItâs okay,â you repeated. âReally. My mom doesnât mention me too much to strangers just in case. You couldnât have known.â
âIâm going to my room,â Tara said. You gave her an indignant look. âSam, apologize.â
âI already apologized!â Sam called. Tara didnât look her way, instead turning and leaving, presumably towards her bedroom.
âWell, do it again!â She screamed as she slammed the door shut.
âAs cheerful as I remember her,â you said, not sure how to fill the awkward silence.
âWhat?â Sam asked.
âTara,â you clarified. âShe used to be like that when she was young too. Good to know some things never change.â
âYouâ oh,â Sam said. You smiled at the look of recognition.
âY/N Riley-Weathers,â you said, getting up. âI know, itâs a mouthful. My mom insisted I should have both last names.â
Sam smiled, nodding. âRight,â she said. âYou mom isâ interesting.â
âSheâs a bit of a bitch,â you said. âDonât get me wrong, I love her, but when it comes to her job⊠Iâm surprised she hasnât interviewed you for her new book yet.â
âSheâs writing another book?â Sam asked, sitting down on one of the chairs of the dining table.
âSheâs always writing another book,â you said, reaching towards your jacket, which Tara had left on the table. âWell, apology accepted. Iâll leave now.â
âWait,â Sam called, getting up. âI really donât want you to get the wrong idea about me.â
âWell, you sure have made quite the impression,â you said.
âI know,â Sam said. âItâs just⊠Tara wasnât answering the phone, for hours, and I saw an ambulance on my way out from work and I just⊠I thought she was gone.â
You smiled softly, understanding washing over you. The image of Dewey crossed your mind, always watching over you, keeping you safe no matter what. You had hated it back then, but now he wasnât here anymore, you missed him and his protective nature more than anything. âI get it,â you said. âReally. But you should approach it differently. Tara is kinda headstrong on being her own person.â
âI know,â Sam said, sighing. âI just canât help it.â
âItâs something you have to work on,â you said. âYou ought to be a little bit messed up after what happened.â
âYou saw the news, then?â
âPlease. I live with the news,â you chuckled. âAnd if Iâm not home in half an hour sheâs going to call the police and have them patrol every corner of New York until they find me.â
âYou should leave, then,â Sam said as she got up, running a hand through her face. She looked stressed, and tired. You felt sorry she had to go through all that just because of who her father was. âIâ I didnât mean to be rude.â
âI get it,â you said, putting on your jacket. âYouâve been through a lot. You just want to protect your sister.â
Sam looked at you, thankful that even though Tara seemed so focused on not understanding her, at least someone else did. âItâs still not an excuse.â
âNo, itâs not,â you agreed, walking to stand in front of her. âHow about this?â You moved closer to her, grabbing her jacket to stop her from pulling away. Her eyes were open in surprise at your boldness. âYou take me out one day to compensate for your vile actions.â
Samâs lips revealed a playful smirk as her hands grabbed your waist. The touch was soft, almost unsure since she didnât know how much you would allow her. âI guess itâs my penitence.â
You hummed, eyes momentarily on her lips before looking up again at her eyes. âPick me up tomorrow, six oâclock.â
Sam nodded, her hands dropping as soon as you moved away. âWait!â She called when you began to open the front door. You turned around, giving her a questioning look. âI donât have your number.â
You smiled, walking towards her. Sam pulled her phone out of her pocket, but you simply kissed her cheek and pulled away. âAsk your sister.â
You left her there, eyes on you as you disappeared through the door.Â
âââ âą đ„ž âą âââ
Shortly after that, you two began dating. Tara was a little taken aback at first, the thought of her childhood friend and her sister together disgusting her to the point she made a face whenever she saw the two of you kissing. Thankfully, she got over it quickly, her discomfort shortly turning into excitement. Her sister was happy with someone she approved of, and given that you two were dating, all of Samâs overprotective tendencies had changed direction and were now aimed at you.
It was perfect, until it wasnât.
You were staying over, having decided to sleep in Samâs bedroom after she asked you to; something about it being too late and some news she had read about cabs in New York not being trustworthy (you had rolled your eyes at that because, really, what was trustworthy in New York?) You had barely needed convincing, the thought of her warm bed and her arms, firmly and protectively wrapped around you enough to convince you.
You woke up alone in bed, and went over to check your phone. 06:32. Sam would probably be getting ready for work, judging by the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, so you decided to get up and make breakfast for her and Tara, who would be leaving for college.
You had taken a year off after your fatherâs funeral, knowing that studying wasnât exactly what you needed, especially because you were aware you wouldnât be able to focus on anything. You needed to heal, and thankfully your mother was okay with your decision.
You made toast with eggs and bacon for Sam, and got out a bowl and cereal for when Tara woke up, since she had declared one day she was vegan and didnât want to âeat murder anymoreâ, whatever that meant. You got it all ready and smiled when you heard Sam open the bathroom door, going to the kitchen when she smelled the food.
âGod, youâre amazing,â Sam said, hugging you from behind. You turned off the stove, moving the food onto a plate. She smelled amazing, the shampoo she used fresh and still clinging to her skin. Though she had dried her hair, it was still a little wet where it connected with your neck, making you giggle.
âI know, right?â You said, leaning into her. You loved how warm she always was, in comparison to your cold skin. âIâm the best girlfriend ever.â
âIndeed,â Sam said against your head, biting your earlobe before kissing your neck. âThe bestest of them all.â You giggled again, her breath tickling your skin pleasantly.
âGod, itâs not even seven in the morning.â
Sam and you turned around to see Tara, standing in the kitchen with an angry look on her face. She was not a morning person.
âMy apologies, Tara dear,â you said, pushing Sam into a chair and putting the plate in front of her. You handed her the cutlery with a kiss on the forehead, smirking when Tara groaned. âYou want something with your cereal?â
âI want you to stop making out with my sister everywhere.â
âHard pass,â you said, moving Samâs hair to help it get dry faster. âYour sister is obsessed with me.â
âUgh,â Tara said, pouring in the cereal before drowning it with soy milk. âI shouldâve never introduced you two.â
âOur souls wouldâve found a way back to each other without your intervention,â you said, resting your chin on top of Samâs head. The girl smiled, abandoning her knife in favor of holding your hand.
âGross.â
âYou are gross,â Sam said.
âLook whoâs talking,â Tara said, giving her sister a mocking look of disgust. âI know what you two get up to in that room of yours.â
âJesus, Tara,â you said, pulling away to walk towards the living room. âEat your breakfast and stop talking, will you?â
âAh, so you donât deny it.â
âIdiot,â you whispered. You sat down on the sofa, searching for the remote controller. Once you did, you turned the TV on, and sighed when you saw your mother on the screen. âShe really doesnât know what it means to take a break.â
You turned on the volume when you saw she was standing in front of an alley, police tape behind her. Your heart sunk into your stomach when you saw the headline.
âGhostface is back.â
âSam,â you called, urgently. You went to check your phone as Sam got up, probably alarmed by the tone of your voice. You finally saw all the notifications from your mother, calling you and asking where you were.
âHoney?â She asked, looking at you with concern. She lowered herself in front of you, eyes examining you to know what was wrong. You pointed at the TV, and once she read the headline she tensed, the hand on your thigh gripping you hard. âNo,â she said, breathlessly.
âWhat is it?â Tara asked, picking up on the mood shift. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the TV, still going over the news.
âIââ Sam said. She looked out of it, face stoic as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing. âI have to go to work.â
âCollege,â said Tara in the same tone. You watched with concern as the two moved around the house, almost on autopilot, gathering their things and getting ready to leave.
âIâll see you later, okay?â You said to Sam when you saw her in her work clothes. She nodded, eyes not fully looking at you as she opened the front door Tara had just left through. She shook her head as if to get rid of a haze, and gave you a long kiss.
âI love you,â she said against your lips.
âââ âą đ„ž âą âââ
But you didnât see her later, or the next day. When you went over to the apartment, Quinn told you they had gone over to meet with Chad and Mindy, so you went back over to your motherâs house.
She was pushing you away. You knew it, and you hated it. You hated how she was letting this new ghostface get in between you, but you mostly hated how she felt like being with you would put you in danger.
You almost laughed out loud at the thought, there in the middle of the street. As if. Your mother was Gale Weathers, your father Dewey Rileyâ this shit had been following you way before you met her. But of course, it was Sam. Sweet, caring Sam, who constantly put others first, who always did anything to protect those she loved, even if it meant putting her own life on the line.
Once you were inside the apartment, you sat down in your bed, looking at all the unanswered messages you had sent her the past few days.
Samantha, you wrote, and then deleted. It felt too formal. You typed in a final message before locking your phone, throwing yourself onto the bed.
You werenât sure when you had fallen asleep, but you were awakened by the sound of the phone line ringing. You groaned, rubbing your eyes as you got up, cursing your mother for still owning one of those. It wasnât the 90s anymore.
âHello?â
âHello, Y/N,â the sound of that voice made your skin run cold. âWanna play a game?â
âFuck you.â
âIâm inside your house,â they said in a singsong voice. âWanna play hot and cold?â
âââ âą đ„ž âą âââ
When Sam saw she had gotten a call from Gale, she knew something was wrong.
She had known early that morning when she woke up, something in the pit of her stomach telling her to go to you, to hold you and never let you go. But she couldnât, not until she figured out who was behind those new attacks. She wouldnât risk youâ she wouldnât lead that killer right to your doorstep and have you killed because of her. No, she would rather die than put you in that type of danger.
âItâs Y/N,â Gale said urgently, when she answered the phone. âIâ I called an ambulance. Theyâre on their way, butâ god.â
Sam had started running towards your apartment the moment your name fell out of your motherâs lips. She pushed people out of the way, barely noticing she was gasping for air, or that Gale was still talking.
ââso much blood,â she said. Sam ran into the gateway, pressing onto the elevator bottom a few times before cursing, deciding to take the stairs instead.
âIs she breathing?â Sam asked. One more floor, one more and sheâd be there with you.
âIââ Gale was gasping for air. âI donât know.â
Sam pushed the door open, thankful it had been left ajar. She didnât see the blood on the floor, or your mother crying beside youâ all she could see was your body, bloody and deadly still.
âY/N,â she called in a whisper. Gale jumped at the sound of Samâs phone falling to the ground, knife in hand ready to kill anyone who had dared hurt her daughter. She lowered it at the same time Sam lowered herself on the floor, hands shaking as she grabbed you and held you in her arms. Her fingers clumsily set on your neck, trying to find a pulse like a thirsty man searches for water in the desert. She gasped in relief when she felt it. Slow, a little too slow, but it didnât matter; your heart was still beating.
âI canât lose her,â Gale sobbed. âI already lost Dewey, I canât⊠not her,â she looked at Sam with pleading eyes; she had never seen your mother so paralyzed with fear. It was an eerie sight.
âYou wonât,â Sam said, voice firm. She took off her outer shirt, using it to press onto your biggest wound, which was located on the stomach. âSheâs not dying. Sheâs not.â
Determination washed over, taking with it the leftovers of panic and distress. There would be time for lament and regret later, once you were safely in a hospital bed.
âGod,â Gale said when Sam began to raise you. Blood splashed over the carpet, and she almost threw up at the sight.
âYou called an ambulance?â Sam asked. She was holding you in her lap, your head falling limply into her shoulder.
âYes.â
âIâm taking her downstairs,â Sam said. The pressure she was applying on the wound was helping, because it had stopped most of the bleeding. âIâm not fucking waiting until they get their fucking asses up the stairs.â
And so she got up, holding you in her arms. She carefully cradled your head in her neck, making sure it stayed secure so you wouldnât accidentally hit something and got a concussion. It was the last thing you needed at that moment. She made sure your hands were on your stomach, pressing lightly onto the wound âit was better than nothing.
âYouâre not dying on me,â Sam whispered. She was climbing down the stairs, Gale right behind her. âYouâre not, okay, baby?â She felt herself getting choked up at the thought. âYouâre gonna be okay.â
Shortly after, the ambulance showed up, and Sam ran towards them. She set you down onto the stretcher gently, and pressed onto the wound until one of the paramedics reached over, grabbing her hand and telling her she needed to leave.
She stood where she had been forced to stay, ignoring all the looks she received. It wasnât until Gale grabbed her by the arm and moved her out of the way that she noticed she had been standing in the middle of the road.
âSheâs being taken to the hospital,â she spoke softly. Sam looked at her arms, covered in bloodâ covered in your blood, and she almost broke down. Instead, she swallowed, putting her hands on her pockets. âIâll take you there. I picked up your phone,â she pushed it into Samâs chest, and she grabbed it. Great, the screen was completely broken. âCall your sister and tell her whatâs happened. Tell her youâll meet at the hospital.â
âOkay,â Sam said. Her dull tone almost scared her. She felt drained. âOkay,â she repeated, watching as Gale went to her car and got inside. It took her a few seconds to open the passenger door, and a few too many trying to unlock her phone to call her sister.
All she could think about was you, and getting revenge on what they had done to you.

How would it be if blade's darling had wanted to contact him, though? Maybe to try and talk about things? They probably wouldn't know about the mind reset kafka does, so when they try to contact him to set up a meeting they think he remembers them.
Oh my god, that just gave me the sweetest of images! Some yandere's love is just so pure, I swear â„
»»ââââââââ ⥠ââââââââ««
Blade didn't really know why he reacted so fast to the unknown sound.
He usually didn't get bothered by that thing in his pocket, a device Kafka made him walk around with, telling him to check it regularly. It pling! and dundun! all day long, notifications appeared on its screen that he didn't usually react to unless someone mentioned him by name. Why would he? He knew his mission; there was no need to be in constant contact with the others.
Bing!
And yet, when a new sound rang in his ears, one he hadn't heard before, Blade stopped dead in his tracks. The guy he was hunting hurdled away, crawling through the pools of blood on the floor while the rain washed away the evidence of battle. Holding his bloody stomach, he watched the Hunter reach into his pocket, picking up his phone, unbothered by the massacre in front of him, almost as if he forgot about his target that took the chance to scramble to his feet, running for his dear life.
Blade gazed at the bright screen, his eyes hurting, but he didn't even notice the pain as he read the latest banner that notified him of a message.
we need to talk
The hairs at the back of his neck stood straight as he read those four words. Blade's mouth ran dry while his breathing stopped. As if he had to hear better, every one of his motions ceased, and the sounds of the constant traffic in the distance vanished. He felt fury build up as raindrops landed on his screen, the words vanishing. Yet he didn't understand why.
Bing! Bing!
He flinched. Even a second time and repeated, this sound differed from when Kafka or Silver Wolf tried to contact him. He didn't remember it ever ringing out before. A slight shake of nervousness went through him, followed by a spark of excitement. Before he knew it, he was reading the messageâeager, desperate.
[Location sent] meet me here tonight, we really have to talk. i want this to end, you have to...
The message preview stopped there, and Blade snapped out of his trance. Slowly, his eyes trudged to the sender's name, but it was only a culmination of unfamiliar numbers. He looked at the time next, and with a twinge of disappointment, he realized it was early noon at best. A shaky breath escaped him, and for the first time since he got the notifications, he looked up into the dark alleyway before him.
It was quiet, no more breathing of his enemies. Yet, he could hear his own blood pounding in his ears and feel the desperate grip on the sword he still clutched onto. It had not been drenched in the blood of his target completely, yet, he didn't feel the yearning of finishing a job.
Instead, Blade felt compelled to go.
Where to, he didn't know. Somewhere, or precisely, where he should go, but he had never opened the message he received with the location. All he knew was that he had to go there. His legs moved on their own, steps splashing in the wet puddles on the ground. By the time he walked out onto the busy street, his sword had vanished, but not that feeling of urgency pushing him forward.
What were those feelings? Why did they keep aggravating him so? His head hurt as the lights of the cars flashed by him, taking in every moment of his pain. He should stop. He had to call Kafka. Something was wrong, and although he couldn't pinpoint it, it would be dangerous to continue on this unfamiliar path on his own.
Reaching into his pocket, he felt the little device vibrate against his fingers, followed by the now-more familiar Bling! he began to dread yet anticipate at the same time.
don't chicken out this time! just come and let's talk... i know you can see my messages
Staring at the message for a moment, he let the phone sink back into his pocket, never bothering to reply. You knew he was going to come, and he would. He wouldn't miss it for anything in this world.
You?
Who?
His legs carried him onwards into the unknown, but something told him that he knew exactly where he could find you, even if he didn't remember. Something inside him knew, and this feeling grew and grew stronger until it robbed him of any reason. There was a pull on him so strong, he couldn't help but pursue itâhunt it.
You, whoever you are, were his next target, and he had to have you. All to himself. Pressed against his marred body, engulfed by his shadow, never to be seen by anyone else again. Never to be touched unless it were his fingers resting gently against your skin, and never to be tasted unless it was on his lips and tongue. If he must devour you to have you all to himself, he would. And he would tear you down and ruin you to the point that no one would dare to take his prey away from him.
Blade had to have you. Savagely, violently. All to himself.
He didn't know who you were or what you wanted from him. Why you contacted him, or how you even knew about this pitiful creature with a heart beating so fast that he felt real fear for its safety inside of him. But he'd find you, have you, and destroy you.
And he couldn't wait to meet you.

Forever Healed | TUA insert
Chapter: 03
<<previous chapter | next chapter>>
Masterlist
âŠ
It was during my first week there that I'd finally be let to do something with the other kids. I didn't know what I hoped it to be but it wasn't this.
All of us kids stood at the bottom of a lengthy spiral staircase waiting for Reginaldâs go. Minus a brown hair girl who stood at the top with her father looking down pitifully at us, I'd never seen that day with the rest of the kids before. I didn't know any of these people yet. And they didnât know me. So when the morning began they were confused about who this girl was with the same green with white stripe tracksuit as them.
I looked up at Reginald as he wrote something in a big book, probably his journal but I had no idea what it could be.
Nietzsche once said. âMan is as a rope stretched between the animal and the superhuman. A rope over an abyss. It is a dangerous crossing, a dangerous looking back, a dangerous trembling and halting.â
Reginald gives the brown-haired girl a look and she blows the whistle tied around her neck. They all burst into action but I stood there for a second. I was still very new to things so I followed the crowd as they raced up the stairs. I wasn't a fast runner at all but I kept up. Never falling to last place.
As much as you must strive for individual greatness, and strive you must, for it won't come to you of its own accord..
The blonde boy was first and the rest of us just tried to catch up to him. The stairs were steep and rickety, they did not make for a good run at all. I was next to the curly-haired girl who was in third, we both tried our best to keep moving but never wanting to push each other.
You must also remember that there is no individual stronger than the collective.
The one boy who could teleport blinks up in front of the blonde boy and takes the lead.
âThatâs not fair, Fiveâs cheating!â Whined the boy who could throw knives, who was second before he teleported up.
âHe adapted.â Yelled Reginald from the top.
..
The scene in front of me was terrifying beyond belief. I'd just been given my uniform and called into one of the house's many halls along with everyone else. In the middle, there was a man who was working on a tattoo, on Diegoâs arm. Whoâs name I just learned.
I could tell he was trying not to cry, but by the way, he was moving in his chair, I could tell that this was hurting him. I wanted to go up and hold his hand and use my powers. But I was given a disapproving look from Reginald so instead I sat in one of the chairs next to Five and waited for my dreaded turn.
The tattoo was in the shape of an umbrella, our logo.
The ties that bind you together, make you stronger than you are alone.
Behind Diego was Alison and Klaus who already had gotten their tattoos and were crying holding each other in support. I also wanted to go up to them, and help. I thought I could help everyone in the room with my powers and at least take away the pain but not the image.
They will make you impervious to the pain and hardship the world will thrust upon you.
Behind me, I could see Grace and Reginald standing next to each other, witnessing the childrenâs crying hysterics. Not either of them showed an ounce of sympathy for what we were going through.
And believe me when I tell you, life will be hard. It will be painful.
The old man walks away leaving Grace to watch by herself. She had her eyes on the girl at the top of the flight of stairs, Vanya. I was confused why she wasn't sitting next to me getting her own branding like the rest of us.
She took out a sharpie from her uniform and drew a figure on her arm.
We can accomplish anything.
Hours passed and It was time for bed, is what Grace told us. All of the kids looked less in pain from what the day did to us, almost joyful that it was over. But for me as someone who could heal all my wounds ever. The tattoo pain increased tenfold than it was when I got it. I was in agony before I fell asleep. Still in my plain room.
When we accept responsibility together. This is what creates trust.
..
Reginald was monitoring all of the kids with wires connected to their heads that night. A weird scene at best. None of them would ever discover this crazy fact until adulthood. He sat in his study, writing and watching the childrenâs brain waves as they slept. As well as security camera footage of each one.
Together, you will stand against the reign of evil.
The loudest beeping came from Vanya, something that Reginald looked shocked at before going back to writing in his journal.
..
PRESENT DAY
I gave myself time to just rest in my bed. The thought of Ben was a virus in my mind that wouldn't go away, at what point do you have to tell yourself to let go?
On my way to the kitchen I passed Vanya leaving, I stopped to say bye and when I did she hugged me. And told me to look after myself. Then she walked out the door, I do hope I see her again.
âHey N/nâ Klaus looked at me worriedly. He was strumming a guitar while sitting on one of the chairs in the kitchen.
âHi,â I said quietly and took a seat in the chair closest to him. Five paced around the room looking for something when Alison walked in.
âWhereâs Vanya?â She asked.
âYou just missed her. She left.â I say back.
âThatâs unfortunate,â Five remarks, standing in front of a shelf. But he slowly turns to where the three of us sit
âAn entire square block. Forty-two bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, but no, not a single drop of coffee.â He said, dropping an empty can onto the table.
Alison gives him a confused look. âDad hated caffeine.â
âWell, he hated children too, and he had plenty of us!â Klaus laughs, falling back into his slanted chair.
Alison didn't find his joke very funny, but I did. It was true after all.
Five looks down, his expression a mix of anger and yearning. âI'm taking the car.â He says.
Klaus puts the guitar down, getting more interested in this conversation. âWhere are you going?â He asks. Probably with the hope that he could come too. Our sandwich idea didn't work out, and it was too dark now.
âTo get a decent cup of coffee.â Five exclaims.
âDo you even know how to drive?â Alison crosses her arms.
âI know how to do everything.â And he blinks away.
Klaus's reaction is delayed. He stands up after Five leaves and holds out his hand like he's still there. âI feel like we should try and stop him.â He turns back to us. âBut then again, I also just kinda want to see what happens.â
We all turned our heads to the wall as we heard noises from the outside. It was a car engine turning on, proof that Five wasn't bluffing. Now I kinda wish I could join him. The car speeds off and we hear Diegoâs lovely voice as he walks into the room.
âAll right, I guess I'll see you guys in, what, ten years? When Pogo dies next?â He says.
âNot if you die first.â I smile. Klaus bursts out into fits of laughter as Alison fake coughs to mask hers.
âYeah, well love you too Y/n.â
He stops at Alison. âGood luck on your next film.â Was he actually being nicâ âHope it turns out better than your marriage, huh?â No of course not..
Diego finally walks away when Alison looks like sheâs about to say something but she turns her back and walks away instead in the opposite direction.
âGotta run sweetie, love you!â Klaus calls out before running after Diego.
I sigh as I hear the sound of them leaving in Diego's car. I'm surprised by the fact that he even has one. I'm left by myself once again, now I'm not sure what to do at all. So I went back to my room.
..
On my long walk home, because I wasn't in the mood to wait for a taxi, I passed by Giddy's Doughnuts. My old place of employment when I left the Academy. I had a job there to earn some money to get on my feet.
I wasn't going to take any handouts because of my âlast nameâ and definitely wasn't getting any money from Reginald. Well, I doubt heâd ever give me any because I did technically run away.
Since Klaus ditched me to hang out with the less cool Diego, I thought I'd stop by and say hello to Agnes.
âWhat the fuââ I screamed as I walked through the door. There were Five absolutely beating the shit out of like six people.
Their bodies lay on the floors in their own pools of blood. Five looked petrified at the sound of my voice, dropping the man whose neck he just snapped.
His face switches back to a calm one as he sees me staring at them. âDonât try to help them, it's not worth it.â He says walking to the large island in front of the doughnuts. âCome here and help me with this.â
I walk over immediately trying not to step on any parts of these men. âFiv-â
He cuts me off. âCut open my arm, will you? Right here.â My face drops.
âArenât you the one who can heal people? Come on.â Five rushes. I forgot that we barely know each other, well I know more about him than he does about me. Because he ran away at such an odd time in our lives.
I gulped down the puke that was about to come up and grabbed the knife he was holding out. I cut slowly into his upper arm, he told me to make a slice and when I did he barely flinched. After I put my hand on him to start to heal the wound. And I felt the urge to say sorry for what I'm doing but then he stops me.
âWhat is that?â I ask, pointing to the beeping device he rips out of his arm.
âI'll explain later, come with me.â He says getting up. But letting me heal him first.
We walk out of Griddy's and he drops the device in a puddle. Looking back at the stores I feel bad for Agnes. I could see her pink headwear poking out from behind the island. At least she wasn't hurt.
..
Five blinked us upstairs into someoneâs apartment. I knew it wasnât his own so I started to get suspicious. âWho lives here?â I ask but get no response.
All of a sudden whoever lives here keys, start to rattle the door as they walk in. Surprisingly instead of some random person that five was going to kill and steal their house. It was Vanya opening the door. I felt a sense of relief.
âJesus!â She whisper shouts, seeing the two of us in her apartment. We sat on her two living room chairs as Five turned on a lamp to scare her.
âYou should have locks on your windows.â He says
âI live on the second floorâ
âRapists can climbâ he states and I give him a look.
âYou are so weird,â I say. Vanya closes the door and sits on the couch next to us.
No one talks for a second before Vanya asks a question.
âWhy are you guys here? And why together?â She asked. I was about to tell her that I'd been kidnapped by a teenager when Five spoke up.
He sighs. âIâve decided that you're the only one I can trust.â I glanced at him. âThe only two I can trust.â He corrects himself.
âWhy me?â She questions.
âBecause youâre ordinary.â I gave him another glance. âBecause youâll listen.â
He groans. âWhen I jumped foward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?â He asked us.
âNoâ Vanya shakes her head.
âNothing, absolutely nothing.â He paused. âAs far as I could tell, I was the last person left alive. I never figured out what killed the human race, but. I did find something else.â
âWhat was it?â I asked. The suspense was killing me.
âThe date it happens. The world ends in eight days, and I have no idea how to stop it.â
My jaw was hanging on the ground, that's how much it opened hearing his news. Vanya sat there looking the same.
âI'll put on a pot of coffee.â

âI canât stay here and be single for you, youâre my best friend why canât you just be happy for meâ you whisper shout at her in the middle of the crowded streets of Manhattan. âI am happy for you, I just donât want you to regret this decision in the future-â she takes a deep breath and continues âlook all Iâm saying is that youâve given up a lot for this relationship and this is one more thing heâs asking you to give up. Moving to Paris isnât your dream y/n youâre chasing after him.âÂ
You heard her loud and clear, in fact you knew exactly what she was talking about. As much as you hate to admit you had been thinking the same thing for weeks now but how could you let him go. He was the missing puzzle piece, no he was the image youâre left with after the puzzle is completed. You had everything a girl in her mid twenties could ask for, the apartment in your dream city, the expensive shoes, the dream job and the dream boy. or at least you thought. No, you did and besides youâre not giving up your dream youâre simply moving it across an ocean. Yes, they have nice apartments in Paris, expensive shoes and people read magazines everywhere. It would take some time to find a job and some friends but once you got settled things would be the same, right?Â
âI heard you, now let's drop this conversation I already quit my job and besides we leave tomorrowâ you retort, taking a sip of your coffee hoping the warm beverage will help the lies come out smoother. She doesnât say anything for a moment in fact you forget sheâs even there. 1 beat 2 beats. âYou werenât even going to say goodbye to us? You can quit your job, throw away your shoes, hell even your hopes and dreams for some boy, but are we, am I that disposable to you.â pause âActually you know what never mind, forget I said anything. Have a nice life y/nâÂ
3 beats, 4 beats. And with that you were left in the silence again except this time she really was gone.Â
You walk into your shared apartment anxiously toying with your keys, the previous conversation replaying in your mind.Â
âBaby your home, can you help me with the-â he stops mid-sentence seeing the tears well up in your eyes.Â
âHey whatâs wrong? Things didnât go well with Aeri, I take it?â you nod finally letting the tears youâd been holding all night cascade down your face. Mark is quick to pull into his chest, one arm around your waist pulling you in close, rubbing circles on your back. âShe hates me. I donât know why she canât see things from my point of view. Everyone but her is happy for us, sheâs my best friend and her opinion means the world to me. I mean she was my best friend.â you say in between sobs.Â
He continues to listen as you drone on about her not understanding your feelings under the soft glow of the fluorescent lights.Â
You were going to tell them, you did plan on saying goodbye but everything happened so fast. Mark had gotten offered the deal of a lifetime last week and asked you to move with him. Although it was sudden you couldnât imagine your life without him. And with the long list of things you had to get done before the move like; putting the apartment up for sale, handing in your notice at work, packing, passports, visas, you simply forgot to deliver the good news to your family and friends.Â
When you called your parents this morning they expressed their excitement seeing you going on this adventure, truthfully they were just happy youâre happy, they know just how much you and Mark love each other. The other girls, Jimin, Minjeong and Yizhuo were all happy for you even if you knew deep down they had the same reservations as Aeri. She was the only person who didnât seem to understand, or the only one not cowardly enough to say it out loud. Sheâll come around eventually, right?Â
After 15 minutes of effectively soaking your boyfriend's t-shirt he breaks the silence âcome onâ he starts as he cups your face softly in his hands wiping the last of the tears away, âlet's get you to bed, we still have a few things to do before our flight tomorrowâ. And with that you let him lead you to the bedroom thoughts of your friendship pushed to the back of your mind as the excitement and slight anxiety takes over.Â
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday morning, First day in Paris
Before you knew it you were in Paris, standing in the lobby of the infamous Ritz Carlton. The company had booked a 5 night stay for you both while the deal was being finalised. Mark went off to get your room key while you stood admiring the crystal chandelier hanging above you. It was mesmerising, dazzling, the main star, the sun, the other lights danced around. He was standing at the front desk a few steps away, the lights above him creating a spotlight on him. There he was, your crystal chandelier, your sun and you were his earth quietly, forever orbiting around him.Â
âHeyâ his voice snaps you out of your haze, âletâs head up stairs yeahâ he takes your hand in his, the sound of hurried footsteps and soft giggles are all that's left as you both disappear into the elevator.
Ding!
You come to a stop on the top floor, the Imperial suite. The view up here was stunning. Breathtaking. You felt like the luckiest girl in the world, every morning you would be waking up to two of the most beautiful views, the Eiffel tower and your boyfriend.Â
Thump. There it was, that feeling again, you had been feeling this pang in your heart, a sort of longing like something was missing. If you were being honest you had been feeling this since your talk with Aeri yesterday, more specifically after she left standing alone outside your apartment.Â
The faint sound of a phone ringing pulls you out of your thoughts, you watch your boyfriend talk to someone on the phone, probably his manager.Â
 âRight now?â
âNo, that's fine Iâll be there. Can you give me 20 minutes? I'll shower and meet you at the studio.â he hangs up the phone making his way towards you. He stands in front of you staring in your eyes, âIâm so sorry I know we said we would spend the day together before I got too busy. But I promise you Iâll be back before 7, weâre still on for dinner right beautiful?âÂ
Mhm. You hum in response planting a quick peck on his lips âdonât worry about me Iâll go shopping for our date tonight.âÂ
To be quite honest you were upset it hadnât even been 24 hours and he was already too busy for you. Who were you kidding, did you really think it would be different, Manhattan to Paris the only change was your address. Maybe he just had no more room in his life for you. No, it sounded urgent, probably something with the contract, a typo or something. Youâre a big girl, you can spend the day alone in the hotel room, or better yet go out and buy yourself a new dress for dinner tonight.Â
âBesides I think Iâll go out and check out the stores around the areaâ he gives you one last squeeze before letting go and making his way into the shower.Â
Tshhh
The sound of the shower water interrupts the quiet of the room, wishing the water could just wash away all your worries.
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday night Â
Standing in front of the mirror admiring yourself in the strapless Versace dress you purchased earlier on. The sneaking suspicion that Mark wasnât going to make it home starts to creep up on you. He was always doing that, making plans with you and cancelling at the last minute, sometimes not even showing up and forgetting to call. You know how important his work is to him and how crazy his schedule can get sometimes. At the start of your relationship he made a point to always let you know if he was going to be late, sending flowers on the days he misses a date. But as time went on the flowers and calls started to slow down eventually coming to a stop. I mean you knew he didnât mean to, you didnât need gifts to know that he never meant to forget you, he never meant to keep you waiting.Â
The clock finally strikes seven and youâre sitting on the small couch at the end of the hallway, opposite the front door. Dazedly staring at the front door willing it to open, like a puppy waiting for its owner to return. Seven oâclock becomes eight, eight becomes nine, eventually it's Ten and you tire of waiting around so you decide to head to bed.Â
Itâs a quarter to Midnight when Mark returns, you spent the past thirty minutes tossing and turning, head full of questions, where could he be, was he alone, was he even thinking about you. He walks into the room, no he stumbles in knocking over a few perfume bottles that were on the dresser. You feign sleep, you're suddenly hit with the smell of alcohol. The bed dips next to you and soon enough you feel this lips on your cheeks, a quick bittersweet lingering kiss. The smell of alcohol is so overpowering you start to get dizzy. You feel a new emotion, not hurt, not disappointment, not hurt, but for the first time ever you were angry at him. While you were worried sick that he couldâve been somewhere out there lost in this foreign country where neither of you speak the language, or worse out dead in a ditch somewhere he was out drinking. Mark could be careless, inattentive, forgetful whatever you want to call it but never was he stupid.Â
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday morningÂ
The sun rose at 7 this morning, you hadnât slept at all last night, thoughts of what your future would look like if you decided to live here with him. Mark starts to stir in his sleep, finally waking up. He wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you towards his chest murmuring a quick âgood morning beautifulâ. When you donât respond he shifts slightly, lifting his head off the bed to get a good look at your face.Â
âBaby, hey Iâm sorry time just got away from me-â he starts, but you think it's pointless listening to the same speech youâve heard all these nights before. Mark was the best boyfriend a girl could ask for, that is when heâs not too consumed by his work. You see for him everything else would always come second to his love for music, and maybe one day you would be strong enough to handle that truth.Â
âDonât worry about it. I forgot myselfâ you interrupt him before he can finish, âYou have to get going, youâre going to be late for your important meeting.â you say albeit a bit too venomously for your liking, quickly sliding out of the bed and opting to sit by the window.Â
ây/nâ he starts but decides against it, instead deciding to give you your space.Â
At 8:30am you hear the door to your room close signalling Mark has left for the day. You guys barely spoke to each other at breakfast, a silent dance of tension. Every few minutes youâd shoot him a soft smile in an attempt to show him youâre not mad, or in an attempt to lie to yourself.Â
You had planned on going to see the cute cafes today while Mark was at his meeting, but after the events of last night you decide to stay in and wallow in self pity. Plus you have to console yourself before the dinner tonight with some music company executive that Mark kept droning on and on about on the flight over. You know this dinner is super important for his deal and no argument between the two will get in the way of that. So you swallow your hurt and anger, and decide to waste your time watching some random French drama.Â
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday nightÂ
At exactly 7pm Mark walks int through the front door. Of course heâs alwaysÂ
The happy couple, you walk hand in hand into the restaurant. Markâs manager greets you guys at the door, ushering you both to join the rest of the party inside.
âMark, I want you to meet Mr. Devonâ his manager announces pushing Mark towards the older gentlemen.Â
As he let go of your hand for what felt like the millionth time, your picture perfect dream was starting to crumble all around you. All the painful memories, all the nights he left you waiting around for him, all the times he put his work, friends, colleagues before you, all the broken promises and forgotten dates.. Yes, forgotten, like you had forgotten your friends like they were something to check off a to-do list. But at the end of the day, you couldnât blame him, not really, no. Mark, he was only chasing after what was important to him, and that wasnât you, not anymore.
With your head hung low, you quietly make your way to your seat.Â
Once Mark is done making the rounds saying his hellos, he takes his seat next to you, intertwining his fingers with yours. And as you stare aimlessly down at your interlocked fingers, you catch a glimpse of the classouses on his hands from hours and hours of strumming his guitar mindlessly while writing lyrics. It then becomes painfully obvious to you, you donât belong here, at least not with him, not now, it was time for you to let go, let him run as fast and far as he can, chasing after his dreams. Slowly removing your hand from his you plant a soft kiss on his cheek letting your lips linger for a second before you whisper your last words of the night to him âI love you, Iâm sorry for doing this to you tonight but I wish you the best Markâ. You walk out of the restaurant refusing to look back, too afraid that one look into his beautiful tear filled irises would make you crumble on the spot.Â
Au revoir mon amour, if the universe wills it surely weâll meet again.Â
(Note: Hi đđœ if youâve made it this far thank you so much for reading for first ever fic. I started writing this based on Carrie & Mirandaâs argument and then just let the story take me where ever. Iâm thinking of maybe giving it a part 2, what do you think?)

đđđđŸ - đŒ.đ
You don't know why you allowed him to do what he did. You knew he wasn't loyal, you knew he was a piece of shit, and you knew you could find better-- but you couldn't bring yourself to drop him. You loved Chris and he loved you, but didn't want "anything serious."
Arguments were non-stop when you were away from each other, screaming at him over the phone until 4 am about the pink lip gloss you found in his room [that was not yours], screaming at you about you "flirting" with the guy you were talking with at the bar, and the list goes on. but, none of this happened when you guys were physically together.
You guys were so happy with each other, no crying, no screaming-- just pure euphoria and laughter. Him treating you like a princess while you guys were on a date, and fucking you like he hated you when you would come over in the middle of the night. You were very loyal to Chris-- defending his name when he wasn't there, talking about him 24/7, and most importantly, staying loyal to him. He obviously didn't know what that was. He specifically said you guys weren't together, and you agreed. You thought it was a mutual decision to stop seeing other people, but he thought otherwise.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You & Chris were in bed, him ripping off your clothes as fast as he could. Him on top, you bring him even closer [if possible] to make your kiss deeper. He pulls away for a second, taking his shirt off and continues to attack your neck. You switch positions, so you're sitting on his lap, and continue to kiss him deeply.
"You always know how to make me feel good." Chris mutters while smiling through the kiss.
You start inching down to his thighs, while unzipping his pants, ring....ring....ring....
You look up at him and to see his next move, but he puts his phone on silent without even looking at the Caller ID, and hides it behind the pillow his back is laying on.
"You're not going to check?" You state, still staring at him.
"Don't worry about it ma, just keep going." He says, pushing his hair out of his forehead. Curious, you take the phone from the pillow but, Chris takes it from you.
"Bro, I told you not to worry about it." He states, holding his vibrating phone. You sit up on your knees, and snatch his phone from his hands. You get up from the bed, and stand across from him. You start reading his phone,
liyah
Missed Call [2]
is she gone?
i have the apartment to myself so come when you're ready <3.
*Attachment: 1 image*
i'm waitingggg.
You stare at the phone in disbelief, and glare right back up at him.
"It's not what it looks like, I told her to stop calling me-"
"You fucking liar. Don't worry about it my ass." You scoff, throwing his phone on the bed.
"Yeah, I knew you would get butt hurt over this." He states, putting his shirt back on.
You grab your sweater from the floor, putting it back on. You didn't know if you should cry, scream, or do anything. You start packing all your things, turning towards the door & getting ready to leave.
"C'mon baby, at least finish what you started." He states, holding your hand so you stop walking forward. You turn around slowly, eyes covered in tears.
One moment you were staring at him, the next moment his head is turned to the other side while your hand is burning red--you just slapped Chris.
"The fuck is wrong with you?" Chris states, holding his pulsating cheek.
"how long?" you ask, wiping the tears away.
Chris doesn't say anything, still staring at you
"If you don't answer in two fucking seconds, I'm gone and you will never hear from me ever again."
"I don't know why you are making this a big deal, we never agreed to stop seeing other people." He states, shrugging off what you just asked.
"I agreed to stop seeing other people because I want you, I only want you. I thought you would eventually stop your ways, but I guess not." you state, finally heading towards the door.
"You'll be back baby, I know you will." He states, getting his phone and hearing him type away. You knew he was going to see her, and that was your final straw.
It's been a week, and Chris heard nothing from you. Not a text, not a phone call, not a voicemail, not even a single post on any of your social media platforms. He felt like he was going through withdraws-- it got so bad that he stopped texting Aliyah and cut all ties with her. He wanted you back, but who knew that you were serious when you said you were actually going to be gone?
