• it was natural for the bots aboard to be interested in human customs ,, having lived in a war most their life . death and violence were something they were quite used to experiencing ,, never really having the time to experience anything outside of the horrors of war itself .

• swerve was one of the few main bots that pestered you often about human holidays . cybertronians didn't celebrate much ,, unless they were a group of autobots who just gave some decepticons a what-for .

• then again ,, swerve usually asked many questions regarding things on earth and what humans do . sometimes you humored him ,, sometimes you told little lies ,, like if you clapped three times in a mall it would be a sign that a tiger was loose . it was quite fun to put silly nonsense in that processor of his at times .

• though when it came to christmas he would not leave you alone . whether you celebrated it or not ,, you still explained the custom in general to him . how old saint nicholas would mosey on down the chimney ,, eat the cookies and drink the milk left out for him ,, and leave presents under the tree lit well and adorned with ornaments .

• you even pulled up the santa tracker for swerve ,, showing him where santa would go and be ,, how on christmas eve he would be flying around with his reindeer and leave presents

• hearing all of this intrigued chromedome and rewind ,, as well as tailgate and whirl . cyclonus didn't understand the hype and belief of having an old random man leave gifts in your house and eat your food even if left out specifically him . tailgate was thrilled though ,, a funny little old man leaving him gifts seemed so heavenly to him . chromedome and rewind ,, however ,, had different opinions . rewind was interested in this human holiday ,, whilst chromedome shared the same opinion as cyclonus . how were you sure this 'santa' guy wasnt gonna rob you ? and when you were sleeping nonetheless .

• rodimus already knew of this tradition ,, as did ratchet and ultra magnus . rodimus was quite ecstatic at the idea of having a christmas party ,, watching christmas movies and sipping on energon . maybe he could even have you sit on his lap ,, all cozy in those soft blankets and sippin on your own mug of hot chocolate .

• ratchet couldnt care less ,, grumbling something about how 'you humans and your holidays and customs' . though he definitely didnt deny the offer of going to this christmas party ,, it was nice to spend some time that didn't involve life threatening situations for once .

• ultra magnus ,, on the other hand ,, was quite picky about how the christmas party should be set up . he even tried to ban home alone ,, saying he didnt want rodimus to get any ideas from the traps in the movie . the last thing he needed was to end up in one the next day . though ,, the many outweigh the few ,, and so home alone was allowed in the movie marathon .

• now when you told him about the grinch ,, he wasnt sure if you were mocking him by saying it was an actual movie or if he should be concerned for what this dr.seuss guy was drawing . i mean ,, have you seen how hairy the grinch is ? or how the whos in whoville are shaped ? pointy noses and all ,, it was quite new to magnus .

• megatron ,, who overheard everything ,, already knew he wasnt going to be wanted at the party . it made sense ,, his past and everything he's done to earth and its people . though when you asked him to come ,, that you personally wanted him there ,, he swore he felt his spark stop for a second . he only gave a nod ,, whilst ravage bickered to him that night in his habsuite .

• whirl ,, to say the least ,, was prepared to fight santa . he was watching the santa tracker ,, waiting for the jolly fellow to pop up so whirl could fly down and bring out the big guns ( that brainstorm recently made ,, not yet tested out or put through a test trial so lord knows what may go wrong) . magnus almost had to throw him in the brig if he couldnt contain his sudden rage and fury for the old man .

• first aid was somewhat interested ,, never having celebrated a holiday before . it would be nice ,, getting together and doing nothing but watching movies all day . he hadnt seen movies from earth that much either ,, besides a few fast n furious ones here and there . needless to say ,, he was somewhat concerned for humans need to trash cars . he cringed a little on the inside ,, watching those perfectly good cars blow up . it was like a horror movie but for cybertronians .

• during the movie marathon ,, whirl tried to sneak violent night and black christmas in ,, saying they were also christmas movies and that they should watch them . magnus ended up throwing them out ,, saying no one really felt like seeing dying people during this one time of peace .

• drift enjoyed the nightmare before christmas ,, the claymation alone was enough to captivate him . then the designs of the characters ,, the music and songs ,, even jack's childlike wonder for christmas matched his own (in a few ways) . during that movie you sat with him ,, sharing a few facts about the movie itself . how long it took to make and how hard it is to do claymation movies .

• during the polar express you stayed with rewind and chromedome ,, snuggling in between the two and sippin on your hot chocolate . rewind enjoyed watching the train on the ice whilst chromedome puffed about how he coulda easily done that himself and saved everyone . you only rolled your eyes ,, muttering out a sure as you fought back a smile .

• during a break in between the movies you noticed megatron ,, standing awkwardly in the corner with his own cube of fools energon in servo . you smiled at the bot ,, walking up to him and having a small conversation with him . you didnt honestly think he’d show up ,, but youre glad he did . he let you sit with him during one of the movies ,, bonding well with the giant bot .

• he was quite warm ,, heat coming from off his body as you huddled close to him . he tucked his servo around you ,, worried you may fall off . for a few moments during the movie you swore you saw him smile at some of the corniest parts ,, or chuckle softly at some of the dumbest jokes .

• you took turns ,, switching between bots during different movies . you would sit in their laps ,, explain little things you liked about the movie playing and share a few things of your own childhood during this time of the year .

• it was nice ,, to say the least . having time to the bots ,, doing things that reminded you of home . it wasnt the same ,, but it was the thought that counted . spending time with them peacefully was more than enough for you ,, and definitely more than you could ask for this christmas .

Rant about people during the pandemic

I’ve always been a person who hosts game nights or holiday themed events and I do it in my one bedroom apartment lol but the last one I hosted was a New Year’s party in 2019 going into 2020 and every time I thought to host after that I wasn’t in the mood really or my friends were spread out all over and there’s always the looming anxiety that someone is gonna show up sick.

I finally hosted again last night a Grinch Game Night so that everyone could see my Whoville decorations up close and someone did show up sick 😀 I’m crossing my fingers that what she had was just a regular cold 😀

She didn’t say anything ahead of time and she had already been there for so long before she started talking about how on Christmas she did go with her bf to visit his parents and I already knew that his parents were sick with Covid so I’m sure I made a face bc why did y’all go?? Okay it’s Christmas but they have Covid it’s okay to NOT GO INTO THEIR HOUSE AND SIT WITH THEM! She was like oh yeah they were all masked up okay whatever and then later goes on to say how her bf is staying with her rn and she went to go sleep in her guest room bc he’s so congested 😀😀 and each night he comes to find her anyway 😀 like y’all went to see his parents and now he’s congested 😀😀 and you’re in the same house with him and you came to mine ??? 😀 WHY? And she even tried to bring him asking me if my game night was co Ed and I was like no bc I don’t have any guys friends lol but she would’ve brought his congested ass to the game night ??? And she coughed a few times and drank water so I thought it was just idek 😩 a dry throat or something

I had my windows open and my HEPA air purifier going so I’m hoping that was enough and I lysoled everything as soon as she left. It’s just like 😩 why are people like this?? This wasn’t going to be the game night of the century it’s okay to say you’re not feeling well and stay home! I literally haven’t gone anywhere while I was feeling any kind of symptoms and it’s not hard at all! Don’t even think anyone remembers smh and then it puts me in the horrible position of having to be a bitch about it bc what was I supposed to even do in that situation? Slap a mask on her and kick her out? Probably 😭 I literally don’t know how I would do that.

I’m also the only one of not just my friends but family and people I know that still wears a mask to places and they tell me stories of sick people around them and sick coworkers coming into the office and how they “hope” they don’t catch anything but it’s like …just wear the mask and you won’t catch anything 🙄

A couple weeks ago my aunt was telling me how sick she felt on Wednesday and how she felt sick on Monday and Tuesday and she had showed up unmasked to my apt Sunday to have coffee with me and I’m like 😩😩 BROOO and she kept saying how “it’s the AC at work that is making her cough” I tell her that’s not a thing and tell her to take a Covid test she’s like oh she doesn’t have any….so I had to bring her tests and then she was like I HAVE to stay with her to take it bc she doesn’t know how to do it and I was wearing my N95 bc I know her and that positive line was so dark so fast smh and she still had the audacity to say “the AC activated the Covid on me” like wtf are you even talking about?? 🙄 meanwhile she works in a doctors office wearing those thin blue masks that she claims suffocate her and idek if she wears them all day for real or if she just says that to me bc she knows how I feel about masks and then she went unmasked to Christmas caroling at her church and it’s now two weeks later and she’s still feeling sick and testing positive (she’s also unvaxed and thinks saying in Jesus name is enough 🙄) and she has to go get groceries so I tell her to wear a real mask and not that useless ass blue one and she goes I don’t have any masks 🙄 of course you don’t it’s been 3 years of her taking a handful of my masks bc she refuses to get her own and she finally bought some KF94s and some N95s but why did it take you getting Covid and seeing that it’s not a joke to buy your own masks?? idek I’m just so turned off by everyone.

And by no means am I like a perfect mask wearer like I still go out to restaurants and clubs but I don’t go to the bigger ones anymore and I use my nasal spray for the time that I’m there and that’s been working for me so far. Sometimes I forget to put one on in the Uber but most times I have mine on the driver puts theirs on too so that’s nice. And I was traveling earlier this month and sooooo many people were coughing ugly coughs unmasked echoing each other and had the nerve to look at me weird for wearing a mask like they’re not a walking test tube of illnesses 🥴

I just don’t understand what the problem is like is it denial?? Delusion?? Fear?? None of it makes any sense to me bc if you’re afraid why not take precautions? If you’re gonna feel embarrassed and keep your sickness a secret why not take precautions? Also why claim that your Covid symptoms are these random ass illnesses instead of just taking a test and finding out? The entire 3 years only one person recently has been sick and thought it was Covid and it was actually bronchitis. Everyone else I know that’s been sick over the 3 years has been sick with Covid. One person I know refused to take a test bc they were sure it wasn’t Covid even after listing all the symptoms and was like “actually it’s just a summer flu” mmmm I doubt it bc you just came back from a work conference 🙄 I even have a friend who works at a daycare and no one masks and they are sick at least once a month bc they catch whatever random virus these kids are carrying that week and they act like that’s just life and there’s nothing they can do about it smh

I guess I’m just tired of being the only one.

I kinda have two main supporting points to make 1) the mean kangaroo lady’s reactions (and the subsequent reactions of the Who chairpeople but that’s like point one subsection A yknow) and 2) the Whos and their actions at the end of the movie

POINT ONE, the fact that the argument is over a “speck” is unimportant, it’s the kangaroo lady’s reaction to the speck that is important. The speck was a thing she Did Not Like and as the “self proclaimed ruler” of the jungle (important detail there) she cast judgement on it, and how did she get people on her side? With inflammatory language and weaponising children without any care for them; it is demonstrated throughout the movie that she is incredibly harsh on her own child, let alone others, so when she bases her argument in “protecting the children” we as the viewers know it’s a crock of shit, furthermore at the end of the movie she moves very quickly from her apparent enthusiasm over protecting the children into proclaiming that the speck will “put their authority into question” (paraphrasing rn) which will “lead to anarchy”. Also, very significantly, she proclaims kinda vaguely how the speck will “challenge [their] way of life” without any detail to the how or the why or what actual damage may be caused - are we recognising any of this rhetoric right now?

We also somewhat see this reflected in Whoville but in a slightly different way. Whilst in the jungle the aggression toward the speck is overt and nasty, the challenges that the Mayor faces in Whoville are slightly more quiet and insidious. The chairmen won’t allow for change or for things perceived as negative (at their own discretion, not taking input from anyone else) to effect the town, they hide these details from the public and quash any attempt from the Mayor about speaking up about the genuine danger they’re in/his own mistreatment - it’s treated as trivial and unimportant and, essentially, nonexistent (again, are we recognising these tactics yet)

POINT TWO, this one is a slightly more positive point as I’d like to discuss the representation of queer joy in Horton hears a who. Jojo is your average outcast character so you can really slap any kinda metaphor onto him and it’ll work, so in the context of the point I’m making he in of himself is the representation for the average queer teen (misunderstood by his parents, not sure where to go in life, stuck in a world he doesn’t quite belong in) so at the end of the movie when we see his creations and it’s loud and beautiful and an expression of himself???? That’s total queer joy right there. On top of that there’s the last hurrah of the Whos - they know their community is on the brink of destruction by those who don’t and refuse to understand them (seriously guys the allegory is right there) but they don’t let that stop their voices from being heard! They persist with their “we are here!” chant even when it looks like all hope has been lost, it could even be described as a form of protest which makes the whole scene a pride metaphor even. Even just the simplicity of the statement “we are here!” it’s not aggressive or angry, it’s literally a declaration of existence and peace and that’s fuckin cool I’d say

Important note for those who aren’t happy with my interpretation: it’s just that. . . An interpretation, that’s literally all it is, there could be thousands of other ways to read into and analyse the movie and this is mine, bigots leave this post alone
