C: You don’t have any scenes to shoot today, so you came to stream? LYN: I’m not sure what you mean by that. In my mind there are two meanings. 1. I don’t have any scenes to shoot, so I came to stream = Ning-ge is so nice. OR 2. Ning-ge, don’t act anymore, just come and stream for us all the time.

You don’t know him? It’s alright, that’s normal. XD As his friend I also wish for his national recognition to rise. No- I’m sure you all know him. Zeng Shunxi! I was talking about him! I was going to send him my autograph, not SELL him my autograph. What? You think I can’t support myself and need to sell my autograph in my streams now?? LYN: Did he leave? That’s alright- he’s been quite busy in his new drama crew. He has a tight schedule and it’s been hot over in Hengdian as well. Shooting a guzhuang drama in this weather is hard work. Of course, the hard work is expected.

You must not go to bars very often; I don’t go either, because I used to work in a bar so if I go to one I’ll feel like I’m at work. But the sound in bars are loud, so that you can have the mood. The bgm of my stream serves the same purpose. If you have a good home environment, try to watch my stream with your headphones. One, so that you don’t disturb other people; and two, so that you can hear what I’m saying more clearly and it'll feel more intimate. C: I don’t have a good home environment. LYN: What are you telling me for?? If your conditions aren’t great, you should work hard- study well and work well- put in the effort so that you can make your environment better for yourself. We learned the first two lines, and today we’ll learn the next two. In a total of four streams we’ll be able to perfectly sing the chorus. - teaching the next two lines of “misheard” lyrics ;; [t/n: he did his homework! XD] C: I don’t understand. LYN: We don’t need to understand, as long as we know how to sing it. - C: Ning-ge, I don’t really want to learn... LYN: Hasn’t your teacher ever told you, “If you don’t want to learn, get out. Don’t influence the other children’s learning!” Have you ever heard that? - C: My mom thinks I’m crazy. LYN: Explain it to her, tell her, “Mom, I’m learning a foreign language. I’m learning Vietnamese from Liu Yuning online.” // First, explain it to her. Second, ask her if she wants to learn, too. We don’t have an age limit here, anyone can learn. C: She wants to know what I’m learning for. LYN: Humans don’t learn all their lives for nothing. One day you’ll find a use for it.

C: Ning-ge, I’m about to be a high-school senior. LYN: And then? But, congratulations. You have to study well, alright? Cherish the opportunity to learn in school. I told you last time, right? My friend got into an arts university... and then had to spend the next two years in online classes. He doesn’t even know his classmates. So I think that being able to GO to school and have the experience is a happy thing.

C: Is it hot in Chengdu? LYN: It really is. But I’m okay, because I’m not the type of person who hates the heat. I’m more afraid of getting tan. I went to an event the other day, and wore a suit, right? People asked me if I was hot. I saw the pictures and everyone else was wearing short sleeves and shorts but I was there in full a suit. I was just missing a tie. It was fine, though. Not that hot. It’s a heat I can bear. C: You wore a cap, too. LYN: If I didn’t I’d be done for. Likely to get sunburned. I’m glad I wore the cap... and glad I wore some light foundation. I went for fun and to experience some glory but I didn’t know there’d be so many cameras there! I came back and saw all the photos of me- and I was glad that I has some light makeup on. If I had gone there with a bare-face I’d be done for.

LYN: I saw the Cang Lan Jue dongman has released an announcement of its voice actors, and I’m one of them, right? I saw you were happy about it; I had told you about it before, that I might have an opportunity to do some dubbing. But it’s not because I think I;m so amazing or anything! I just wanted to try something new. Of course, every new challenge I will take seriously, because I have to be responsible for myself. I’m sure that no matter how well I did, I’m not better than the professional VAs. So I just want to say that if you happen to watch the dongman and find my dubbing lacking, please don't take it up with me. I know it was just so-so. There’s a difference between me and the professionals. It’s just a start for me- a start so that I have room to do more and learn more. LYN: I had a meal with the company CEO, and we were just chatting and I mentioned that I have a yearly plan- something I want to accomplish each year, and they asked me what my goal was. It was to voice-act for a dongman, even if just a supporting character, so that I would feel that I reached my goal even a little. It just so happened that I mentioned it at that dinner, and the CEO said, “Okay! We happen to have something coming up for CLJ, why don’t you come?” And I was like, “Are you for real?? What a coincidence!” They went back and asked the VAs to see if there was a small part I could take, and that’s how it happened. It’s my honor to be able to partake in this, and I know that there are a lot of criticisms and I accept them all. LYN: There are people who are saying, “If you didn’t act well and also accepted money for it, then you SHOULD be cursed at.” They’re saying that it’s justified to yell at me if I do a bad job. I just want to say, I didn’t accept any payment for this- it was just fulfilling my own personal wish. So if you want to yell at me, could you be a little less critical?

LYN: I like to set goals for myself- even when I’m shooting a drama. Other than bringing the character to life the best I can, I like to set smaller goals for myself. It started with my second drama- no, the third, with CGX. Other than finishing the drama and doing well in the role, I set a goal for myself, which was to- understand what it was to... how to... uh... forget it, I won’t say. I won’t talk about CGX. C: How to ride a horse. LYN: No, that’s not it. Well- it’s okay if I say it. That was my first guzhuang drama, so the small goal I set was to 1. understand how to shoot a guzhuang drama... and do certain things. >.> With SYXSSYX my goal was to understand how to act as a villain. With Zichuan my goal was to understand how to act as a B-King (??). ALZ’s goal was playing an infatuated (?) man. TXJ’s goal was to improve my fighting skills, because I play the number one swordsman in the world and the first thing he does when he sees someone is to fight them. I wanted to improve my skills so you can see that I (as an actor) am improving. Be Your Own Light is currently filming, and my goal here is to understand how modern dramas are shot. C: What about Hei Ye (UN)? LYN: Honestly at that time I didn’t really know how to act at all. Of course, now I still don’t, but I put a lot into that role- only because I was essentially new to acting. LYN: I can’t discuss in depth about shooting dramas and acting itself because honestly I don’t know very much. I just have my own takeaways and I turn them into my goals in order to fulfill a role.

C: Ning-ge, is someone teaching you how to cook? LYN: Is anyone teaching me to cook? You must be worried that I don’t eat well and have gotten thinner, so you’re asking this question, right? You must be new here. I’m not a professional in acting or singing, but I have a cooking certification. I graduated from culinary school! C: Then, when are you going to cook me a meal? - /changes the bgm to reply to this comment -> Princess Pearl OST “當”/ LYN: The lyrics to this song will tell you the answer: “當山峰沒有綾角的時候當河水不再流” (when the mountains have no tops, and the rivers cease to flow) “當時間停住日夜不分當天地萬物化為虛有” (when time stops and there is no distinction between day and night, when all things under the sky turn into nothingness). THAT is when I’ll cook you a warm meal. LYN: Wow, I didn’t sing that well at all. I proved I was a cook, but my identity as a singer just fell by 20%.

LYN: I saw some things people sent me.. saying that SYXSSYX might not have had very high ratings because the 2ML (LYN) has too many scenes. I don’t think it didn’t do well- I think it was alright. But my problem here is that the drama has already finished airing, and NOW they’re looking to give me a reckoning? Who do they think I am??? But why are they starting to throw me under the bus? It’s because there are rumors that I’ve signed with Yuekai Entertainment- that my relations with the CEO are so good that I’m already one of their artists, so they’ve given me more scenes. LYN: People always ask me if I’ve signed with so and so, and I’ve said before- I’m not signed and with anybody. It used to be that I COULDN’T sign with anyone, because I used to be under YY- it’s also a live-streaming platform. It used to be an all-encompassing contract- any sponsors, appearances, etc. would all be handled by them. At the beginning of last year my contract with them ended, and since then I haven’t signed with anyone else because I don’t WANT to sign with anyone else. C: Is “YY” Yang Yang? LYN: NO! It’s a video-based streaming platform, a lot of people who use the ‘net know it. But our five year contracted ended last year, and I considered signing with a company but after everything I had experienced I decided not to. It was just too complicated, so I just made my own studio, so I can manage myself. I’m very simple- if someone gives me a job, I go. If I don’t have a job, I’ll... sit here “picking at my toes”. LYN: So I won’t sign with any company. As for the Yuekai rumor, I’ve already explained. The first time I held a concert was in collaboration with them, because I couldn’t pull off arranging a whole series of concerts with just my studio alone. My fans enjoyed the concerts, I thought it was a successful collaboration, and it was comfortable working with them. So my second set of concerts I also let them handle. They were also starting up a music company, so I gave them my second album, too. I let them handle it, because I can’t do everything by myself. It’s just a collaboration; however, I do know that CEO Kai treats me very well. But even so, I haven’t signed with his label. LYN: So you don’t need to take this rumor and slander me. Whether it’s about the drama or anything else, it’s not up to one person to make the decisions. There’s the production company, the platform, and all the staff- it’s not that simple. I can’t just do anything because I WANT to. Also- when I was playing BCF I was nothing. I’m still nothing! When I signed the contract for SYXSSYX only one of my dramas had aired, and that was Hot-Blooded Youth. Have you heard of it? I’m sure not many people have- it was a drama I was in with HZT. A Linghe Production, and Bai-laoshi asked me to be in it. At the time that was my only drama, so why would anyone give LYN more scenes just based on that?? I was able to play BCF because I happened to have the time right after CGX shooting wrapped, and they gave me a chance. I haven’t relied on any connections, only that I’ve met very good people. LYN: So don’t try to make the fact that I’ve signed to a company as hate material, because it’s not true. On the flip side, if I had the chance to sign to the company, that is my honor. I have my own studio, my “big tent” and all of my fans are the ones keeping it up. Some of you have been here for me since the beginning, and of course some of you have left me to start loving other people on the way. That’s normal. But there are a group of you who have known how I got to where I am today. My new fans are a part of this as well- no matter how “new” you are, you must have been here for at least a year or a few months. A lot of people wonder why I am worthy of some of the jobs I pick up, and I don’t even really believe it myself. But I have so many wonderful fans, and they are my backbone.

C: Have you been working out lately? LYN: Yeah, I have. C: Do you have abs yet? LYN: /laughs/ No. But even if I did it’s not like I could lift my shirt and show you on stream. That’s not PG. Maybe one day when I do have them I’ll make a post. Give me half a year’s time. I don’t think I’ve ever made a bare post. Give me a year and when I have the muscles I’ll make a post for you. Wait for me.

I can. :) LYN: I was in hair and makeup the other day and I heard this song... It’s been a long time since I’ve heard it, but I knew how to sing it. It went like /reading lyrics/- do you know which song it is? Anyone? C: “Enough”? LYN: Yes! I think that was it. You must all be singers! How is your ability to search for lyrics so much better than mine?? C: My dad’s singing along. LYN: So that means this one isn’t as old as the one before it.

I charge for OSTs, and I make you buy tickets for my concerts- but here in my streams the songs are a perk for you. -- 爱我你怕了吗 (Love Me If You Can) [requested by an Auntie] LYN: But this song can go really high, so if later the mic breaks, let’s just pretend nothing happened. - /as expected, his voice cracks/ /clears his throat/ LYN: Did something just happen, friends? The mic just had an extremely unacceptable fault. It had nothing to do with me. If you don’t believe me I’ll sing it for you again and prove it was the mic. - /breaks again/ LYN: That’s just how I prefer to sing this song. Look at the lyrics: “Willing to love, willing to hate, willing to lose it all. I don’t want the world.” Look at this- they’ve already given up on everything. So at this point in time, this is how I chose to express this emotion. Every song and how you sing it is different. This is how I choose to sing this song. :p Of course, I could choose to sing it the normal way- here, I’ll demonstrate and you can tell me which version you like better. - “normal” version vs “emotional” version LYN: “Are you afraid of loving me?” Are you? “Have you forgotten the tears?” Have you? “My heart is waiting, and the rain is falling.” That type of feeling. Anyways- that’s about enough of this song, you get the point. If I continue it will affect my streaming condition later. There may be a group of you out there who don’t really understand music and think that my voice cracked just then- but no, that’s just how I sing the song. You have to remember this. That was just my personal style. >.> It wasn’t a mistake- those don’t exist here. C: You’re rambling out of embarrassment aren’t you? LYN: You probably don’t understand me. Here in my stream I have never been embarrassed. I’m sure I’ve been embarrassed when I went on some variety show, but never here. Do you know why? Because this is my territory, my home. Have you ever felt embarrassed in your own house? No, but maybe in someone else’s. Even if you’re wearing your pajamas and someone comes to your house, you still won’t be embarrassed by it. It’s the same principle.

C: How much can you make from a stream? LYN: Why are you asking about my income? I think you’re trying to set me up. There have been some cases regarding songs and whatnot. You want to see how much I make and report me, is that it? I’m telling you now- I don’t receive any income from streaming, nor do I have any agreement with weibo. This is a free service for everyone, and I do not use it for business. In fact when I stream I invest 20RMB in electricity and also three drinks. Sometimes when the connection is bad I open my own hot-spot, and that incurs a charge, too. The clothes, glasses, caps, and hair and makeup- all of this I pay for myself. I don’t make a cent from streaming or from weibo. In fact, I even have to pay weibo every month- for the membership fee.

LYN: Oh, I’m trending on the main tab? Then I have to trash this kazoo- the last time I was trending I played the kazoo and I dropped five ranks. You’ll never hear from it again. LYN: People have actually come to me asking if I can sponsor their products during my stream and I always turn them down. I don’t want to use my stream for business. I just want it to be pure/transparent. It’s just a simple perk for everyone, that’s all. I don’t want to turn something I use to chat with my fans into something for business- there’s no need for that. If I turned it into something for business, I wouldn’t be able to sing some of the songs I do- so there’s really no need to trouble myself. C: I came in from the trending topic. LYN: Welcome, my new friends. This might be the first time you’re watching. Actually, my streaming style has changed a lot from before. They say I used to talk back at my fans a lot, but that was just a joking style. Now I do that a lot less. It’s not that I’ve changed, but that now I don’t dare. I’m afraid that if people who don’t know me come in and see me back-talking at the viewers it’ll leave them with a bad impression. I’ll be done for. So I’ll lightly joke with you, but not as severely as before. C: You’re a little famous now and got scared? LYN: You’ve got something there... you’ve hit the nail on the head, a little. Because before when I was nothing and no one knew me they didn’t care what I said. But now I’m too much in the public eye. I need to be more reserved, because there are a group of people out there watching me like a hawk, waiting to get something on me. I don’t know what I did to make them hate me so much. I just want to say to people who have something against me: Do you want to meet up somewhere we can talk it out? How did I anger you or make you uncomfortable? - might have a makeup brand spokesperson contract coming up, but it’s not confirmed so he can’t say what it is yet C: I don’t know how to put on makeup. LYN: You can learn. // LYN: It seems like for your daily necessities, if it’s not associated with me you’re not going to buy it, is that it? Then, what brand of tissue do you use? Disposable chopsticks? It’s like if it’s not related to me you can’t live. XD LYN: I have a plan for myself, and part of it includes not signing too many collaborative contracts. Honestly, in all forms of work there are things I really dislike doing. For example, I really dislike taking photos. I’ve told you this before. All the making poses and whatnot- I don’t like it. You’ll notice that with other artists every so often they’ll release a set of photos, but with me- for me any event or album cover or ost cover- all the photos they use were shot in 2018. It’s not that I can’t afford to take new ones, though. Everyone just uses my old photos because I really dislike taking photos in the first place. The shoot with ZSX and YCY- actually that was my idea. It was just because my hair was long and I wanted to take pics. I brought it up to my team and even they were all dumbfounded. “What’s wrong with you? Did you drink too much? We’ve worked together for so many years and you’ve never once mentioned wanting to take pics. What’s wrong?” I just wanted to have the memory of having long hair, because I don’t think I’ll get the chance to grow it out again. I got to take some with YCY and ZSX, so I was happy. But regularly I don’t like taking photos. LYN: But when you’re working with a brand you have no choice BUT to take photos. A few sets of photos, even. Plus an ad. I don’t really like ads, either. I’m alright if I’m just.. holding the item, but I really don’t like the... “go with the flow” ones. I like the ones that have a story-line I can follow. I hate the ones that are just a bunch of poses, where the director tells you, “You’ve used this product and now need to show us that it makes you feel like you’re flying.” You’re so happy to have used the product that you can fly into the sky like a bird, like a cloud~ How do you want me to act that??? I know I’m an actor but if you want me to act as a cloud, I don’t think I can do it. Those ~artistic~ ones, I am ill-equipped to handle. There are other ones- “You’re doing a performance and have to show us you’re enjoying yourself!” I’m looking at the mic and it’s like this- cordless. /acts it out/ But you still have to interact with the camera. C: Ning-ge, maybe you’re using a wireless mic? LYN: But the problem was the bottom had the prongs! I just showed you!! When those are there that means the mic needs a cord! It wasn’t wireless, it was just- /cuts himself off/ C: Bring your own cord. LYN: When I shoot MVs in the future, I should bring my own cord, is that what you’re saying? If I see the bottom has no cord, I can tell them, “I brought my own to connect it, and the end I will stick into my pocket.”??? C: Just act, right? LYN: Right, but I just don’t like it. Another thing I don’t really like is for some products they want to do the “boyfriend pov”- you know what I’m talking about, right? Like the scene is interactive, and I’ll pat your head. I can’t take it! I can’t convince myself of it, and I'll get goosebumps (for being too cringe). It’s fine for everyone else! I can watch theirs, but I, myself, am unable to accept them. I’ve shot these types before, yes, it’s just that in the process I will feel easily awkward/embarrassed. LYN: I’m sure my fans are all happy to see such a commercial, but it’s just that I feel embarrassed seeing it. - says that next CFs will be ASMR-type, VR-type is for even later in the future XD LYN: This is likely to come back and slap me in the face, because my future collaborations are probably going to be of this “interactive” type. C: I want to see it. LYN: Then I guess I’ll have to shoot some.

C: How’s HZT doing these days? LYN: Go ask him, what are you asking me for? I’ve been busy too, we’re not much in contact. He has his work- I guess he’s also shooting a drama.

C: Ning-ge, don’t shoot a drama for now. LYN: What do you mean by that? Why don’t you want me to act? Give me a good reason. Do you mean “Don’t act, just come stream for us.”? C: Release more albums. LYN: /sigh/ My album... why don’t I release my album... because a lot of people release albums and find themselves frustrated... A lot of singers are like this...“I’ve put in so much effort to released my music, but why isn’t anyone listening to it? D:” Also, a lot of money goes into it. But you still have to do it. But when you do it no one listens. Do you know that feeling?? LYN: You may not be familiar with the industry, so you can’t understand. It’s like if you invest a lot of your time, effort, and money to open a restaurant you’re convinced will do well. After being open for a week you’ve only gotten two customers. Will you be able to handle it? I’m sure you would cry and have a breakdown, because you’ve put in all the effort will little result, you know? You’ve opened for a month and have only made 500RMB- not including your investment, those two customers totaled to 500, let’s say. If you had kept working a normal job you would’ve made 3000RMB in income for the month. If it were you, which path would you choose? That’s why a lot of us choose to work for others.

C: How much do you weigh now? LYN: I haven’t really been weighing myself, but I have lost a little weight, and have started to exercise. I made you a pie in the sky earlier, didn’t I? I asked you to give me half a year’s time and when the time comes I’ll post a shirtless photo to my weibo. It’s 7/8/22 right now, so around the new year I’ll be posting a shirtless photo. I’ve never posted anything to show my figure- because the truth of the matter is that I HAVE no figure. But this time come the new year, I’ll post a bare photo- of course, only the top half of my body. C: What if you don’t post it? LYN: I’ll do my best to post one, but if I don’t what are you going to do about it? You’ll just have to wait longer. But I’ll try. I go online and watch all these exercise videos- and then after I watch them I feel like I’ve had a workout. XD No, I watch to learn. First I have to understand it, and THEN I can start to do it for myself. Maybe in the future I’ll be a workout instructor. Not only will I be able to sing and cook, I can teach you how to exercise too. C: GJ posted some. LYN: I know, I saw them and started wondering if I should start holding myself up to some standards. Nowadays being thin isn’t enough. You have to be thin but also have muscles. I’ll start with crunches. C: It’s fine as long as you don’t end up making your neck thicker. LYN: Yes, I saw that some friends were saying if you workout too much you’re likely to gain a thicker neck (neck muscles?)- I looked it up on baidu. Some people have gained thicker necks, because some workouts require you to use a lot of strength. /demonstrates/ But when you’re lifting, where else is (other than the arms) are you using strength? The neck. See? /demonstrates again/ So the neck muscles do get worked out; I think the explanation is reasonable. When you have a thicker neck, it looks like you don’t HAVE a neck and that’s a bit... but aren’t we going for the “swan neck” aesthetic nowadays? If your neck is thick you’re a giraffe, but if it’s thin then you’re a swan. C: Then exercise moderately. LYN: Moderate exercise won’t work. If you’re just moderately exercising then that counts as “being mobile/active” (and not “working out”). That’s like how my mom takes a walk around the neighborhood after dinner- that’s just being active. If you want to gain muscles you have to lift weights- grind your teeth and grunt with pain, work until your face is red and your muscles are straining. Where do you think the good figure comes from? You have to put in the effort. LYN: Anyways, I’ll try to post a pic by the new year and if it doesn’t happen... then I’ll PS you a photo. I have a lot of talented friends- they can PS one for me. Just pretend I made it. I have friends who can draw- you can draw me with abs too. LYN: I’m not joking this time, I’m going to do it. Even though I’ve told my fans this same thing about seven times since I’ve made my debut. It’s been four years now... but THIS time. I promise it’ll be true. I have the audacity to say that this time, do you know why? It’s because I already went online to buy some protein powder. With anything I do- whether I do it or not depends on if I buy the products necessary to accomplish it or not. Like for streaming- if I want to stream well, I have to buy a light, camera, and a good computer. Do I want to work out well? I do. Therefore I bought some handsome clothes, cool shoes, gloves, and protein powder. I’ve got all the equipment ready, now I just have to start making use of them. I never accomplished it before because I wasn’t prepared- my stuff hadn’t arrived yet. XD It’s the equipment that gives me the motivation to get to work. C: You bought gloves in 2018 already. LYN: I threw those away. Because I threw those ones away and my feelings for them were so deep, that’s why it’s taken me until now to get new ones. :p C: Find an instructor? LYN: I wanted to, but the problem is I’m not just sitting around all the time. Not to say I’m very busy, but sometimes with filming I only get off at 11p-12a. If you want me to work out after that, I’d “die”. You understand? I don’t have a set daily schedule, and there’s no way to determine when I’ll have the time. So I decided I would try by myself first - I’ve watched all the videos and I have a plan for myself. C: I don’t like musclemen. LYN: I can’t make myself into one anyway. Not everyone who exercises turns into the musclemen you see on tv- if that were the case then every man in the world would be a muscleman. It’s not that easy. LYN: I can’t become one of the thick/strong guys- because even though I’m tall I have a small frame. People with a small frame are likely to look very thin, like a bamboo pole. Another disadvantage for people with small bones is that if you’re NOT thin- I’m talking about actors- if you’re not very thin, then when you’re on camera your face comes out looking rounder. Because your bones can’t hold (don’t have the space) for all your flesh. But with big-boned people, their faces have the space and even if they have that excess flesh they will still look thin. But their bodies are of a bigger frame, so if they have more meat on their bones, they are likely to look more sturdy/robust. I am one of the small-boned people, so there’s no way I can turn into the sturdy muscleman type.

LYN: You know who I know who counts as having big bones? Fang Yilun. He’s very broad-shouldered and his features are very well defined- so he looks very handsome. C: Who? LYN: Wei Shuyu! When I say “Wei Shuyu” you know who I’m talking about, but not when I say “Fang Yilun”?? Wei Shuyu you all know, right? C: Ning-ge, are you going to work with Wei Shuyu again on your next drama? (A Journey to Love / 一念关山) LYN: What’s it to you?! Don’t ASK! I’ll tell you when I tell you- I’m not telling you now for a reason. Stop making blind guesses. Some rumors are just nonsense. But if I had the chance to work with Fang Yilun again, I’d still yell at him! As long as he’s in the drama, no matter what he says I will reply, “Shut up! Why are you EVERYWHERE? Stop talking!” XD LYN: If I’m in a drama with him, no matter what he says I will only reply with “Shut your mouth.” -“You’re so handsome.” -“Shut your mouth.” -“I’m serious.” -“Shut up!” LOL. LYN: Then I won’t have to remember any lines if I have scenes with him. // I’m joking, I’m joking.

C: When is ALZ coming? LYN: I really don’t know. Someone asks me this every time. I don’t know- I’m just a supporting actor. oTL First of all, I swear to all the people watching my stream- I didn’t get any added scenes. I don’t have any sort of connections with the production company. I swear that I only acted out whatever was in the script I received and nothing more. When it airs later, know that what you see is what I was given in the script. They might even delete some of my scenes, it’s possible. But please don’t say that I had scenes added in for me. I’m not worthy. Also, who’s watching it to see me? Other than my fans, who wants to see me? D: C: Ning-ge, just because you say that, doesn’t mean people will believe it. LYN: What do I care if they believe me or not?! It doesn’t matter- you can choose to believe me or not. Just know that I only acted the scenes I was given in the script. It’s that simple. C: When will it air though? LYN: It’ll air... it’s still early. Right now it’s in editing. All great dramas go through a great editing process. Let’s all just wait for it together.

C: Then what if people say you’re overpowering someone? LYN: Who can I overpower? Based on looks alone in this entertainment industry, if LYN is said to overpower anyone, then that rumor itself is a joke. If you were talking about my humor or my height, then that is acceptable and I’m bound to overpower someone. But based on acting? It’s a joke. LYN: I have a feeling... because I know that in the future I could possibly play a male lead role... if I am worthy of receiving the ML.. then I will be the one overpowered. Let’s not talk about me overpowering anyone else, and just focus on not being overpowered by others, first. It’s super easy to suppress me- just give a little pressure and I’m down. For now let’s just try not to step on any toes. Because I firmly believe in “what comes around goes around.” - Ning-ge believes in doing things he considers “good” to receive “good” in return. -- For example, all his albums and music are free- he may not be making any money from it, but by doing so (making his music accessible), he is now open to the possibility of being contacted to sing OSTs. -- For example, he was invited to sing at the Rattan wrap party, and made himself available and got himself to the venue out of his own pocket to show up for his friends... and ended up walking out of there with a contract for ALZ. C: Ning-ge, didn’t you say you went there and got a meal out of it? LYN: ...Are you saying that you think my appearance fee and the cost of one song is only equal to one meal? I see some of you are already editing my face onto a muscular body. I was only joking. You’re going to make me lose my motivation, because I believe I already succeeded. I’ll hypnotize myself into believing that I’ve already succeeded and that this is how my fans see me. “In the eyes of my fans, I’m already this handsome!” And then I won’t actually go work out. - shows the camera an example of a fan-edit LYN: What is that?? >A<

- introduces Be Your Own Light LYN: It’s a great new experience, and my first modern drama but there are really a lot of things I haven’t gotten used to. Like how since it’s a modern drama, I have to be filming on the streets. I have to be out in the world. I’ve been an actor for three years now and have done 6-7 dramas already, but most of those were all filmed in Hengdian. I’ve practically never left. Other than Ultimate Note- which was shot in Xishuangbanna. We were filming in the deep mountains and forests, and other than the wolves, our film crew were the only people there. There were only snakes, wolves, and our drama crew, and no one else was able to get to our location. Filming in Hengdian is a bit more enclosed, since each drama crew will rotate through the spaces on any given day. They’ll close off the area, in order to film with more privacy and so as not to cross lines. Because with a guzhuang drama you’re only shooting in a particular space/setting/location, but with a modern drama there’s no way to CREATE a city. LYN: We’re just filming on the street, because it’s not like they’re going to MAKE a street for you to shoot on. OMG, the people- I feel like- I’m not saying I’m popular, I’m not. It’s Tao-jie that’s famous. People will see her shooting and they’ll call up all their friends and relatives to get them down to take a look. I remember one scene we were filming in a small neighborhood. When I looked up, every household had their window open, looking down at us. Do you know how strange that felt? It’s like there was a fight downstairs and everyone else looked out their windows to watch it go down. They were all leaning on their windows, and some even had fans, just fanning themselves and watching us. Oh my goodness. That was so strange an experience. It doesn’t feel like you’re shooting a drama, it feels like you’re just a monkey in a zoo. I felt like a monkey, and I couldn’t even have a temper. You know how if you throw the monkey something it doesn’t like to eat it will glare at you? Or how if it doesn’t want you to take its picture, it will hide away? But I couldn’t. If I showed any displeasure at all, and those pictures made it online I would be cursed to “death”.

LYN: There was a fan who came to the site to see me. I’ve already told you the rules for coming to see me at my job. But they came and they kept screaming my name. -__-; I didn’t respond to them, and they stopped being my fan. They made a post about it, from what I heard, saying how disappointed they were, and there were also a whole bunch of comments to that post indulging them! “I always thought LYN was a good person and so nice to his fans. I can’t believe he ignored you! I didn’t think he was that type of person!” LYN: I’ve already told you the rules for this. 1. You are free to go where you want, because I don’t have the power to stop you. But I advise you not to come. 2. Ok fine, you came. But I am working, I’m not here for fun. If I were here for fun and you called me but I ignored you, you can have a problem with it. But I am here for work, and I can’t respond to you because I am not the only person in the crew. When I am walking, there are other staff or actors beside me. If I respond to you, what are they going to think of me? “Yes, you have fans. Yes, you’re famous. So what?” If I respond to everyone who calls my name, it will seem like I ENCOURAGE you to come and disrupt filming. Do you understand?

LYN: Filming a modern drama is a really new experience for me. Yesterday we did a take filming inside a home, and I have to open the door and greet the person on the other side. We started the take and I opened the door and said my lines, but then I made the mistake of looking up. I could see people on the floors above recording us with their cellphones. Someone even had a camera. It was supposed to be a nice and kind interaction, but after I saw those people my tone changed into more aggressive territory. LYN: I’m just joking, please don’t take that seriously. I acted how I was instructed, but I just told you how I was feeling on the inside. Isn’t that overstepping?? I didn’t feel like they were my fans, I felt like they were trying to play me. It really affects my mood/way of thinking. - gives another example, of 20+ people crowding behind the main camera with their phones out, because they can. LYN: It’s a new experience- a totally different environment.

- Talks about how, when filming on the street sometimes the crew will need to block off a walkway or an intersection in order to get a shot without people in the background. People only have to wait one or two minutes for the crew to get a take, and they can continue on their way, but there's always going to be someone who gets offended. “You won’t let me walk??? You’re BLOCKING A PUBLIC WALKWAY?!?? WHO GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO STOP ME??? Celebrities can do anything they want, huh??” LYN: Whenever this happens I run. Well, I don’t RUN, but I do my best to make sure they don’t know it’s me who’s blocking their way. They get SO offended, and there’s no room for negotiation. It’s... fun.

LYN: I hope at the very least my own fans can be kind and tolerant. For example, if I’m driving and someone comes up behind me and wants to pass, under safe conditions I will let them. As long as they don’t scare me and make me curse, I will let them pass. But usually if you miss your turn and need to get into a different lane, you’ll roll down the window and stick your thumb out. I guarantee 80% of people will let you pass, you can try it. It’s a negotiation. - talks more traffic hacks XD C: Do I give them the middle finger? LYN: ! Do you want them to smash you car?! You’d better watch yourself. C: I can stick my hand out for a left turn, but what about a right turn? LYN: Then you’ll have to trouble your driver’s side passenger. C: What if you don’t have one? LYN: If you’re alone in the car then you’re not going to be in a rush. What are you negotiating lane exchanges for?? Just drive normally! When you hit a red light just turn back on course. Take your time. C: Sticking your hand out the window isn’t safe. LYN: It’s not. But we’re going normal speeds, not breakneck speeds! We’re not on the HIGHWAY, we’re just on the streets. Just give the next car over the signal at a stoplight. If you stick your arm out on the freeway it’s gonna get taken off. LYN: Alright, forget everything I just said. Why don’t you go online and buy a doll- a plush doll and stick it out the window as your signal that you want to change lanes. C: What are the turn lights there for, then? LYN: Still use them!! I’m talking about when you need to negotiate. Some people will let you pass with your signal light alone, some people don’t want to let you pass. But sometimes you can negotiate. C: How about a foot? LYN: Shush. C: How about a broiled chicken foot? LYN: ?? You want stick a chicken foot out the window in place of a thumb or plush? Let’s not say whether this is acceptable or not first. The visual seems a little poor. Like you’re trying to throw your trash out the window. The other driver is probably thinking, “Do you think my car is trash or that I am trash?” LYN: Anyways, I like to observe people. The one from the previous example (”Offended Pedestrian”) is super intriguing.

- talks about how his PD for The Truth wrote a post about what it was like to work with/for LYN. LYN: He’s really a nice kid, and sometimes acts like my assistant, even though it’s not his job. Technically he’s part of the director’s crew, only supposed to tell me the show program, and what I need to do that day. But if he sees that I am feeling uncomfortable, he’ll also bring me water and leave it for me, even when I tell him he doesn’t need to. He act like my assistant sometimes. C: Is he your male fan? LYN: The first line of his post was “I have no clue about Modern Brothers’ Liu Yuning.” But maybe after the program finished recording he made the post because he had good feelings about me. LYN: I don’t know if Southern China has this custom, but in Northeastern China we wear five colored strings for the Dragon Boat Festival. You wear the strings and they will collect your bad luck, and when it rains you can cut the strings and let them flow away with the rain water and it will wash your bad luck away. - talks about more customs, like dumplings at the new year and having a coin hidden inside. LYN: IDK, people from Northeastern China like eating dumplings for EVERY occasion. LOL. // I found out that Chengdu people eat dumplings a lot too! I’ve had some recently, and dip them in the hot oil. There are dumplings and also wontons, I know.

- ppl asking him about second seasons to The Truth, and Ultimate Note, etc... Whether things get a second season depends on the its viewer ratings. LYN: I think it’s getting pretty good ratings for a completely new show and compared to the variety shows that air around the same time, too! Like Sisters Who Make Waves and Keep Running; the fact that we’re able to keep up with their ratings is already good enough. Since it has decent ratings, I’m sure it’ll get a second season. LYN: I think the Truth is really cool, though- first of all, because the players are cool. :) I really like it though. I’ve shot very few variety shows since my debut, but even so they’ve all been related to my interests. Like Fresh Chef 100 and Chinese Restaurant, which are cooking related. Our Song, which is musically related. Other than that the varieties I’ve been on have been as a group with other people, like TTXS and Hi!6. But The Truth is something I look forward to, precisely because it is unpredictable. I’m just there to play the game. Secondly, it’s a game I can play for free. Think about it what Murder Mystery or Escape Room can you not only play for free along with hundreds of crew members and celebrities, but actually pays YOU in return? XD - starts promoting the show, and tells people to go watch the episode after his stream, because he has streamed during its airtime. >.< C: This episode is scary. LYN: You think it is, but later you find out it isn’t. It’s actually the only episode that ISN’T scary in some way. You all know if you watched, so this isn’t really a spoiler- but in yesterday’s episode Bai Sanwan and I went missing together. I wasn’t afraid because I was with him. But if I were with Zhou Shen in a dark room... we’d piss ourselves. C: Do you refill your own meal cards? LYN: Um... no. All the money in that card is deposited at random. The thing about this program is... you’re not going to go to shoot it with money in your pocket, we can’t just whip out cash when we need it. Secondly, we don’t have our phones. If we have a phone, it’s one that we picked up from investigating, or if it’s needed for the plot the crew will slip it into your bag without you even knowing. Think about it- if we had our phones with us all the time we wouldn’t need to be afraid. We could just turn on the flashlight whenever it got dark. In Ke Wuku’s episode, remember how we collected a bunch of phones in the beginning? But then when we got to Fei-jie’s spa, she collected and locked them up. We were confused at first, but then realized she locked them away because the next segment was a dark room! LYN: In any case, when the lights are on I have the IQ of a normal person, and might even come across as manly. But when the lights are off I’m... lacking.

C: Ning-ge, do you turn the lights off when you sleep? LYN: Yeah. You can’t think that I sleep with the lights on just because you see that I am afraid of the dark in the show, right? I’m afraid of the dark because it’s an unfamiliar place! What do I have to be afraid of in my own home?? Because I know no one’s going to be jumping out at me at home. According to your logic, I can’t close my eyes. Because when I do all I see is darkness and I’d scare myself to death. That’s no good.

C: Do you eat the most? LYN: I think I’m alright... Usually I’m too lazy to eat. I’m the type of person who will order takeout instead of sitting down in the restaurant, unless I’m already out. So my takeout is usually soup, noodles, or dumplings. When shooting for the show they prepare rice and main dishes for us. It’s there, so I eat it. I eat all of their apples and bananas, too. Because I’m thinking if they leave it for the next day the fruits will go bad, so I might as well help them out. C: Takeout isn’t healthy. LYN: Your mother must have told you that. There is no “healthy” or “unhealthy”. When I order takeout it’s usually ginseng chicken soup. /being flippant/ Ginseng and chicken soup- is that unhealthy to you? It’s not about if the food is healthy or not, but more about the how sanitary the food is. But we still eat it. Sometimes you’ll order from a place and then have an upset stomach. The next time you’ll think that the food was good, and order it again, to have an upset stomach again. Then you know not to order from this particular place, and to find something more reliable. Young people these days are busy with work and have a fast-paced life, so takeout is more convenient for a meal. Who doesn’t wish for the time to prepare their own meals? But we don’t have that time. LYN: Try not to eat too much takeout, though and eat a proper meal when you can. A lot of people are living at home with their parents, so have a proper home-cooked meal. I count as a “wanderer” (liu lang)- I’m always out so I tend to eat takeout more. It’s not like I can grab a wok and fry some rice for myself in the hotel- it’s not convenient. I’m open to eating takeout and honestly I’m used to it. I have experience with it too, so I can differentiate between which shops are tasty and which aren’t. C: What about hiring someone to cook for you? LYN: I don’t have a WOK, let alone any RICE to put in it. How can I, when I live in the hotel? I can only order takeout.

LYN: I don’t like taking too many people with me (his staff), either. I know some who have a whole group in the tens- that’s just how they operate, and it’s normal. But when I see the big group, I tell myself not to have so many people. Imagine I go to shoot a show and I bring a nanny, a acting coach, and an exercise instructor, a nutritionist- what for? Who do I think I am?? C: Add an herbal doctor. LYN: What are they going to do? Give me acupuncture every day? Check my pulse? C: A bodyguard. LYN: You must not know how I usually introduce myself on variety shows- I learned martial arts when I was young! Have you heard the expression, “The Wanderer knows martial arts, no one can stop him?” C: Didn’t you learn “healthy” (exercises and stretches for a healthy mindset and active body) martial arts though? LYN: I did, but the point is I know the basics- I pretty much practiced flexibility. Even if I meet a bad guy it has an effect. Since my legs are so flexible, I can get to my knees faster [to kneel to the bad guy and beg for mercy, I’m guessing]. C: Ning-ge I want to be your nanny. LYN: There’s no need. I can take care of myself, thanks. C: Then, what do you need? LYN: Honestly, I really do need a workout instructor. So I can be prepared to show you that shirtless pic by the new year. C: Need any stylists? LYN: I have two already, it’s like your trying to take their jobs, which I find very disagreeable. I don’t like people who try to take another person’s work, because I’ve BEEN the person who got their work stolen from them. C: You need a janitor? LYN: I don’t need one, because my bro is Janitor Hao (the character Hao Baojie, on the The Truth).

LYN: Alright, it’s about time I wrap up and grab a bite to eat. You can go watch the latest ep of The Truth. FIRST LOOK

(using The Seven Kings, ‘cause that’s what I’m wrapped up in right now)

1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch)

The brutal assassination of a king sparks the partnership between a hated half-breed hungry for revenge and a well-educated prince whose father arranged said assassination.

2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? (Is it a novella, single book, book series, etc.)

Editing the first book right now. Still need to finish its ending. And I was so excited, I might have already started to write the sequel... ‘bout two solid chapters in so far. AND there’s enough happening that it’d probably be a trilogy.

3. What is your novel’s aesthetic?

I... suck at this question every time I see it.

I guess... I’mma have to go with redemption.

4. What other stories inspire your novel?

Legend of Zelda for sure, mainly inspiration for the diverse kingdoms and people. And then, I dunno, there’s probably a little bit of every fantasy movie and book I’ve ever seen/read tucked in this story somewhere.

MAIN CHARACTER

6. Who is your protagonist?

Valerie Tanner and Eli Orphesis (named him during my Greek obsession)

7. Who is their closest ally?

They gain several throughout the story, but the main two are Roderick, a rancher and old friend of Valerie’s (practically a second father to her), and Elyn, one of the queen’s handmaidens who joins them on their journey. Oh and then Aaron pops up later, and he’s an old ally of Valerie’s as well.

8. Who is their enemy?

Mainly: Darrean Orphesis (yep, Eli’s dad)

9. What do they want more than anything?

Valerie wants revenge for Garrett’s death, and Eli wants to forge a path to his own future, a future not doomed to exist in the shadow of his father.

10. Why can’t they have it?

Valerie: gaining revenge changes nothing; Garrett’s still dead, and she’s still an outsider

Eli: he has to grow up and learn who he is without his father’s title protecting him, and there are a LOT of tough lessons on the road ahead for my boy.

11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves?

Valerie believes she’s completely alone and useless. She believes her life is worth little, and that spending her life in service to better people/better men is the best she can do.

Eli ... is pretty arrogant, so his are kinda negative. He believes he’s untouchable, that he’s immune to certain feelings (like pity and loss). He thinks he has all the answers.

12. Draw your protagonist! (Or share a description)

Valerie: 28, 5′8″ (172 CM), weighs 135 pounds (yes, I did), lean and muscular, smaller-than-average bust size, wavy brown hair that ends between her shoulder blades, deep/dark brown eyes, Caucasian, Ossa tattoo on her upper left arm (all black ink), muscular stomach, narrow hips, fit legs, covered in old/faded scars from battle and/or training, wears: black trousers that fit tight, knee-high boots, a fit undershirt to keep the girls pinned down and covered (;p), and a loose white overshirt to keep her cool.

Eli: ~26, 6′2″ (188 CM - people of his race are tall as fuck), blue skin (similar to Oxford blue but a hair lighter), black hair that is a bit shorter than shoulder-length and he keeps it in a low ponytail at the nape of his neck (sexy!), bright golden eyes, muscular and well-built, hands lack callouses (only trained, never fought), no scars or wounds, wears proper royal clothes like a prince should (tunic, trousers, knee-high boots, waistcoat, the works)

PLOT POINTS

13. What is the internal conflict?

Learning to accept help, realizing that people are more than their pasts or their titles and especially their race

14. What is the external conflict?

A power-hungry king and his massive army of well-trained, well-armed soldiers who are all purebloods, so they all have magical abilities.

15. What is the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist?

For Valerie, losing the people she loves who she tries to protect. She’s watched so many die. She tends to be pretty self-sacrificing because she’d rather jump in harm’s way and die if it means saving someone else. (She has some self-esteem issues as well, so wanting to be someone’s shield makes her feel useful, and therefore, good. She also values others’ lives over her own.)

For Eli... Failure’s a big one for him. He’s probably afraid to die, but I’d say failing and letting down those around him is worse. His mother went to great lengths to make sure he was cultured and well-educated, so with all his knowledge, if he fails, yeah, that’d probably be what would crush him more than anything.

16. What secret will be revealed that changes the course of the story?

Probably the reveal of Eli’s power. He was never trained as a child like he should’ve been (for reasons!), and so since he’s a pureblood, his powers developed on their own. He’s powerful but uncontrolled, so his abilities start leaking out, so to speak, on their own.

The reveal of what his power actually is, is a good moment. It’s subtle, but as each of the other characters begin to realize just how much power he wields, they also start to realize how REAL everything is becoming: like the war, their chances of survival, etc.

17. Do you know how it ends?

Yes. I know the jist. I know what I’m aiming for. How I get there, I dunno, and what’s said or done when we get there, I dunno.

I know which port I want to dock in. Just not what it looks like.

BITS AND BOBS

18. What is the theme?

Hmm... unity for sure, redemption’s a big one, some focus on equality, but I’d say mostly it’s about people finding their place in the world by following their own intuitions rather than falling into the role provided for them or forced upon them.

19. What is a reoccurring symbol?

Valerie has a tattoo on her upper left arm that marks her as a member of Ossa, so basically an outsider. After what happens in the opening chapters, she keeps the tattoo hidden whenever possible. But its meaning causes some tension with... basically everyone she meets.

...there’s probably others, but I can’t think of any that don’t require a lot of explaining... and I was pretty vague on the tattoo for reasons.

20. Where is the story set? (Share a description)

In the country of Nubrya (hate the name, can’t find one yet to replace it). It’s the border country on a massive continent and is encircled by three (possibly four or five... haven’t finished plotting the map) other countries to its east, west, and north. The south of Nubrya is open to the water. Its eastern edge rises into steep cliffs overlooking coves dug into the mountain side to house the nation’s ships during the winter. The western border levels off into desert. The north is rocky terrain, isolated, and sitting on a raised plateau, so every step from the heart of Nubrya upward is a hike. And to the northeast, there is a massive mountain range, upon which one of the Seven Kingdoms sits. And to the east/southeast (before the cliffs) are the farms and vineyards of the country.

Every type of landscape and temperature zone and climate is represented.

21. Do you have any images or scenes in your mind already?

Since the first book’s finished except for a few scenes and the final fight leading up to the already-written ending, most of the scenes are already down on paper. The second book, however, oh, boy! I have SO much planned and cannot wait for the willingness to write it down. XD

22. What excited you about this story?

I originally wrote this story back in high school. As you can tell by my username, I’ve kept the characters with me through the years. :] Recently (meaning last year, I think), I got to thinking about the original story from high school (titled: “The Unknown Soldier,” I think), and I missed it. So I dug out the original copy, started reading it, and by about, oh I dunno, page 2, I was ready to hang myself ‘cause the writing was THAT BAD.

But the plot was a good one. The characters were half-developed, but they had the potential to be so much better. So I remolded them, fleshed them out, added a ton more characters, revamped the settings, added MORE settings, dumped in a whole bunch of emotional turmoil, updated some names, increased the stakes tenfold, added more magical/fantasy elements, and landed these characters in a MUCH better story.

A lot about the story excites me, but to know I revitalized an old story, pried it off the gurney, and zapped it back to life--a life better than the one it had before--that excites me. :]

23. Tell us about your usual writing method!

Frantic. Messy.

I write scenes as they come to me. Stitch them together later with transitions, and edit to fix any time lapses or to plug in missing information. I do outline, but they look like this:

Guy does this thing. it’s cool, but not too cool. Then girl finds out. And note for later: the girl’s really a guy. OH! And remember by scene five to put in a live rooster or else the whole chicken joke won’t make ANY SENSE. End with badass scene with knives. RESEARCH: knives.

Hey, I just made that up on the spot. Welcome to my brain.

But that’s the basic idea behind what my outlines look like. XD Except, I do usually write my outlines in ALL CAPS and important items are bolded or highlighted. But that’s a minor detail.

Winter 2018 Final Impressions

I’m a month late, as usual (whoops!), but here’s my final thoughts on the animes I watched this past season!

The “reviews” will be in alphabetical order!

3-gatsu no Lion S2 - 9.0 / 10 (A)

This second season of 3-gatsu was great! It’s just… a really great drama show about fighting depression (& a bunch of other character storylines)!

First off... THE BULLYING ARC WAS REALLY GOOD

extremely complicated, emotionally complex… this arc brings all sorts of emotions & angles into the forefront

multiple perspectives too: Hina’s, Rei’s, the bullied girl’s, the bully’s, the teachers’, and Akari too!

The art style can pull off both thick-outlined / bright colored style and watercolor-esque style incredibly well

it really is beautiful how it can visually portray both light-hearted and emotionally intense scenes

This season continues to show how good it is at character development for characters both main & supporting!

We get to see Rei moving through the ranks as a shogi player

and also moving through the ranks of conquering his depression! He’s improved more than ever before!

We get to learn about the white-haired master player (Souya); I liked how he has his own quicks and challenges he has in his daily life

Along with the other head shogi guy (Yanagihara)! (& how he shoulders his legacy for his friends)

Even the last episode offered some perspective from the foster mom about Rei & her kids

this show is just… really good at making normally-hated characters sympathetic, hot damn

Aside from bullying arc, this season also showed Hina preparing for the transition to high school

The finale episode was nice and sweet, with Hina saying goodbye to Takahashi and even getting a haircut!

This continues to be one of the best drama anime in recent years! Not to mention SHAFT’s best show since Madoka Magica :3

Cardfight!! Vanguard G: Z - 7.5 - 8.0 / 10 (C+)

And so ends the G series of Cardfight Vanguard… this final season I’ll say though is kind of a mixed bag

The plot had interesting ideas and moments at times, but the execution and pacing left a bit to be desired

though I will say it was definitely better than last season (CFV G NEXT)

This season didn’t waste any time getting to the main plot, as Chrono has to face off against a Diffrider right away

the diffrider stuff is continued from last season, but for the most part, it’s a new plot kicking off!

The rollout of all the new Diffrider Apostles (& them showing their strength) definitely made them look like powerful foes

not to mention the Zeroth Dragons, which were also shown to be powerful and very risky to use

Also knowing that anyone in the main cast could end up being The Vessel added some intrigue as well

the reveal that Kazuma would be the vessel definitely was a well executed twist imo~

However the pacing in places felt a bit too fast for me… the Relics subplot felt like it wrapped up too quickly, for example

the final fight against Gyze also kinda felt rushed… Gyze didn’t even have any dying words after his defeat :/

As a final season specifically, I feel like it kinda pales in comparison to Stride Gate, unfortunately

The cast was also kinda hit and miss in terms of how well they were utilized in the plot

some of the apostles definitely had more screen time than others (gredora only got like… two episodes)

plus gastille (the supposed apostle leader) got beaten sooner than like 3 other ones???

some villains carry over from last season too, such as Noa (Chaos Breaker) and the red-head punk kid

I liked all the new villains this season, personality-wise! (Also Yukari Tamura in there is a plus)

also no Am and Luna this season, really…

the previously established OG cast were integrated fine, for the most part

including Aichi and Kai getting the kill against Chaos Breaker Dragon

but the final episodes kinda just shoe-horn in a bunch of cameos that just didn’t feel natural :/

it just felt like “OH SHIT, this is the last season actually! Quick, throw in a bunch of cameos!”

this also applies to G characters, which makes less utilized characters (like Am & Luna, as mentioned before) look out of place :(

Sure, I’m saying a bunch of negative stuff right now, but I REALLY LOVE THIS CAST… I JUST WANT THE BEST FOR THEM

It’s the main reason I love CFV G, after all~

This season was definitely an improvement over NEXT for sure! The plot was interesting, I just wish the conclusion was better

The final episode basically just felt like an OVA, really… aside from the last scene, it didn’t really feel like an epilogue at all

I guess it just bums me out bc the original series got a good epilogue episode, so I know they could do it here, too…

In any case, I’M GONNA MISS THIS CAST, BIG TIME ;A;

In any case, this was a decent season to end the G series with! Not the strongest, but not the weakest either.

I’m gonna look back on my time with CFV G fondly for sure, if for nothing else than the great ensemble cast :’)

It’s gonna be weird going back to the OG cast for sure… I arguably liked the G cast better than the OG one :’D

Osomatsu-san S2 - 8.0 / 10 (B)

The consensus among fans seems to be that this season wasn’t as good as the first season

As for me, I… probably agree with that (though I still enjoyed this season!)

As with most comedy anime, whether the jokes land is pretty subjective. I feel like I didn’t laugh as hard this season? IDK

There were more “seasonal/holiday”-based episodes this time around (i.e. summer, new year’s, etc.)

What stays the same though is that this show is at its best when featuring the main brothers themselves

Skits involving the side characters (like Iyami, Dayon, etc.) didn’t make me laugh much…

I will say though that I enjoyed the second half of the season more than the first half~

Enough about the negatives, let’s talk about this season’s memorable skits / episodes!

The premiere was really good, as it poked fun at the huge popularity the show unexpectedly got xD

plus a bunch of references that *aren’t* gonna get them removed from streaming sites this time!

Jyushimatsu getting an “apprentice” with a little kid was also pretty funny~

The Karamatsu taxi skit, the spooky inn, & all the characters being stuck on an island were also good skits!

Ep. 18 (Iyami, Alone in the Wind) was also a crowd favorite, since it brought the feels for a change :’)

The finale 2-parter pulled a bait-and-switch yet again!

Part 1 was actually pretty serious, but the actual finale just has them trying to break out of hell xD

OH YEAH, I still really like the live-action stuff they do during the ending sequences

the first half’s ED was my favorite (the stop-motion of the brothers riding in the car)

I don’t have much to say about comedies generally, but Osomatsu-san is still my favorite in recent years ^^

Even though this season didn’t hit as hard as S1, it still provided some fun laughs~

Pop Team Epic - 7.5 / 10 (C+)

What can I really say about this show? It kind of defies description ^^;

Ok, yeah, it’s a sketch comedy, but it’s a really… crazy and random sketch comedy

The jokes are hit and miss (and in my experience was a bit more… miss than hit)

I never really laughed out loud at this show either

but then again, the humor here is more “being confused at what’s going on, but going along with it anyway”

There’s also a lot of modern anime references, so you might not get those jokes if you don’t follow most recent anime

Each episode has a long skit in it, plus a bunch of bite-size skits

I personally preferred the short skits over the long ones

There were a couple song parodies which I enjoyed (including the Earth Wind & Fire parody)

Also, this series definitely benefits from having an English simuldub! Some skits I found funnier in English!

OH YEAH, the voice actors (in both languages) change every episode, with female and male VAs in each episode

that enhanced the enjoyability of the sketches too, since I liked hearing favorite VAs do silly dialogue and performances!

I wouldn’t say this ranks among my favorite anime comedies, but it’s definitely unlike any other I’ve seen! ^^;

Your mileage will *definitely* vary with this one, so give it a try and see if it’s for you!

The Ancient Magus’ Bride (Mahoutsukai no Yome) - 8.5 - 9 / 10 (A-)

This was a very enjoyable fantasy drama show! Some people feel this show was overhyped, but I still thought it was really good!

I really liked the cast overall, especially Chise

She has really good character development throughout the show! She really becomes more strong and confident!

Seeing the fantastical world through her eyes was interesting as well!

Especially since those mystical elements were also responsible for her terrible childhood…

Elias was also an interesting guy… he and Chise have an interesting relationship together

Their relationship definitely has aspects that are unhealthy, but they do grow closer to each other by the end

If people can’t get past the whole premise of “him buying Chise to be his bride” though, I totally understand ^^;

They help each other learn too, which I liked to see

The supporting cast was also enjoyable! Not much to say about them individually though

The dragon keeper was nice and we got to learn about Elias’ origins through him

The dragons in general were great! Especially the old one that turned into a tree :’)

He gives Chise some good sage advice, even after death :’)

Angelica, Silky, and Stella (among others, like the other anti-hero duo) were good support characters too~

I liked Stella’s role of “normal girl who learns of the supernatural’s existence”

Cartaphilus was an… okay villain, I guess (though his methods were quite creepy indeed, which added some intrigue)

Some character designs are a bit questionable though… like who approved the vampire’s design? ^^;

Another large appeal of this was the world building of the fantastical elements!

I liked seeing all the different types of locales & supernatural creatures, both good and bad

As a low-fantasy show, this show does a Dang Good Job with the fantasy!

Chise learning more about herself and gaining confidence through these experiences were a highlight as well

I enjoyed each story arc as well, even though most of them were more explorative and introspective

This show can be dang beautiful sometimes, through both its art/animation and its stories (Thanks, Studio WIT!)

Some were better than others, but they all deliver either a heartwarming (or a dark) story

Some favorites of mine were the dragon-based ones, and the vampire loving the old man

The finale was good too! It’s unknown whether this conclusion is anime-original or not, but it was definitely a good S1 ending~

If you love low-fantasy shows, this is definitely one to check out!

Violet Evergarden - 8.5 - 9.0 / 10 (A-)

Best *new* anime (that I watched) of this past season, hands down~

Though to be fair, I still need to watch A Place Farther than the Universe… and Yuru Camp… and After the Rain…

Going into this season, this show was hyped and back and somehow… a lot of people were *disappointed* with this show?

I think it had to do with expecting a different show than what we got; as for me, I knew it’d be an episodic drama the whole time :P

But yes, this show has a (mostly) episodic plot with an overarching character arc. If that’s too slow for you, then you probably won’t like this show.

In any case, back to the positives! The first one being how good this show looks visually… as expected from KyoAni~

there’s so much detail in the backgrounds and the character elements (especially the lighting on objects like Violet’s metal hands)

this aspect is one thing *everyone* agrees on regardless, so… yeah, this show’s really pretty!

The main star (and focus) of this show was Violet herself… you can really see how she changes for the better from beginning to end

You get to see how “robot-like” she was at the start of the show, but she slowly learns about dealing with emotions of others… and herself

This character arc is definitely the “main” plot of the show, along with her coming to terms with Gilbert’s death and her war killings

The episodic plots were good in their own right, too!

Ranging from Violet’s start as a Memoir Doll to the different clients she works with, they all teach her something along the way

These sometimes focus on the side characters working at the Doll Agency too, so we get to learn more about them as well

The one that comes to mind first is Iris’ episode, where she (messily) reconnects with a former lover

Not all of them get a full episode in the spotlight, but they do get some focus scenes from time to time

Violet’s clientele episodes were the most memorable out of this lot IMO

ESPECIALLY EPISODE 10… that was the BIGGEST feels trip

I knew exactly how the episode was going to end, but I still teared up at that ending!

The finale was action packed, but also was a beautiful way to show how far Violet has come

I know some people’s issue with this show is that “it doesn’t know what show it wants to be” re: the action stuff, but I was fine with it personally

in any case, it was a pretty good book-end for Violet’s development, since she finally understands (a least a little) what “I love you” means :’)

I understand certain people’s gripes with this show, but this really is a great little drama show that *will* deliver the feels~

P.S. I also watched Fate/Extra: Last Encore this season. It hasn’t technically ended yet, so I can’t give final impressions on it right now. However, my current score for it is a 7.5/10 (C+).

1. First things first, what is your MBTI type? INFP-T (I had to take the test which was interesting and also gave me a WTF feeling when I finished it for certain things)

2. When did you learn to read? During my first year of school... I think I was 6... I guess.

3. What languages can you read in? Spanish, English, I can understand a bit of Portuguese and Italian.

4. What books are you currently reading or most recently read? “Men without women” by Haruki Murakami (I haven’t read a page in like a month tho...)

5. Name 3 books you never finished: “Fablehaven” I got bored, “The Night of the Iguana,” I was told by my Spanish professor that I didn’t have to do the final exam and didn’t finish it (then I suffered with the questions about this book in the national test X.x) and “Don Quixote” it was also part of the education program, but I couldn’t move forward from episode 5... the Spanish was just too weird x.x and I feel bad, but I just couldn’t.

6. What are your favorite books from childhood? The one I remembered to read the most and reading it because I wanted and not because it was part of the school program: Platero by Juan Ramón Jiménez. Also, “Cuentos de mi Tía Panchita,” these fairy tales scared the hell out of me, but there was something about them that made me read them , they were written by Carmen Lyra. Then I probably could add “Cocorí” this one was part of the school program, but the story is part of our national identity so it was fun to read... tho I hated the snake.... it was written by Joaquín Gutiérrez.

7. What are your current favorite books? The best book for me will always be “Marcos Ramírez” by Carlos Luis Fallas aka Calufa, he is one of the best Costa Rican authors, at least for me, and Marcos Ramírez was kind of the reflection of his life and it’s a way in which you can learn a lot about how Costa Rica was during those years, you can look at how hard times were, but also how happy could a person live if they knew how to take only the good things. The book has a pretty sad ending and I remember I was devastated at the end, but I could go back to reread certain chapter that I love, weird thing, I do not have my own copy of this book, I actually borrowed it from one of my uncles.

10. How long does it take you to read one book on average? ........... I’m pretty slow at reading and I hate to admit it, even a small book can take me months... like three months... I’m so ashamed of this.

11. How do you typically read? Every opportunity I get, in transit, while waiting, etc./Before bed/On the go by audiobook/When I can truly relax/When I remember to/When I’m traveling by train (I actually read a lot while waiting at the airport, so I don’t bold the train part XD)

12. How many books do you typically read in a year? None or 1/About 1 to 3/Maybe 4 to 10/At least more than 10/At least 50/Too much. I can’t keep track/I simply read whatever I want, whenever I want.

13. For school assigned books, what type of student are/were you? I read all the books in detail/I read all but sometimes skimmed/I nearly read all, I may have skipped a few because they were too boring/I only read the interesting ones/There’s a reason why Sparknotes was made!

I was actually better at reading when I was a kid... I was always looking what to read and then I got into drawing and writing.... I have always preferred to write and it’s awful when someone tells me that I cannot be a good writer because I don’t read, like I already know that and that’s why I’m trying to read at least one book per year now x.x. Also I was to embarrassed of completing this one and that’s why it took me so long to do it, sorry for that TT.TT

Ehh I mostly Really do not like what they did with marvel Loki, and then the movie version in particular. I’ve heard that the recent threequel kinda hits the reset button on the entire thing and reestablishes him and like he actually has a decent brotherly relationship and gets redeemed now?? So like woo! I’m happy for you! EVen if i’m still mostly not interested in this character!

BUT ANYWAY SORRY WHAT WAS I ORIGINALLY MAKING THIS POST ABOUT WHUPS

What i mean is im not particularly interested in marvel loki in any way, but i always thought his movie plot was a really interesting and sad idea. That they TOTALLY WASTED! tho really it’d be wasted even if they pulled it off perfectly cos i still could not get over the general dissonance of ‘wtf loki wasnt his brother he was like twice his age and knew his dad before he was born, and also he was never half anything and always knew he was a jotunn’. Srsly its fuckin weird that in mythology he never had any magic excuse for working with the aesir, he just.. decided to. And he was good. he was one of the good guys. he turned bad later and he was always a morally nebulous comedic trickster man but he was never fuckin... im only here cos i was raised as a human guy. and also im somehow younger than my best friend’s son who was kinda my nephew i guess. srsly he just.. was a giant who.. chose to switch sides. its not a hard plot to do. why did they even feel they had to change that... tho also incidentally historically jotunn didnt mean giant, it was more like ‘chaos spirit’ in practise. loki being like a 4 foot tall angry gremlin wasnt particularly unusual in the mythos so its funny how out of place he is in the marvelverse actually. and also they weren’t all ice but had fire and ice as basically races or countries, and loki was never really stated which one he was, or if he was some sort of neutral aligned one or there were other elemental types that just never got a starring role in any particular story. or in some interpretations the vanir are considered to perhaps be a form of elemental god too, though that’s just an attempt to nail down how exactly they were meant to be different from aesir. Though there are some textbooks that describe loki’s name as coming from fire, that was actually brought up in-universe during one of his adventures where he fought an evil clone of himself named logi, which is the one that actually means fire. and also there was utgard-loki who was an entirely unrelated rival of his, apparantly just because they had the same name and he was pissed about it? anyway other-loki tricked loki into fighting logi who was actually a magic clone made from wildfire, who was by definition unbeatable in eating contests cos fire consumes everything. Also thor had to outdrink a magical ocean guy and got his ass kicked by a grandma that was actually death in disguise and somehow ‘nobody can fight death’ quite literally meant she was a master of suplexes. Also a cat. A cat was there. And they slept in a giant glove. It was a fun myth cos for once thor and loki got their asses kicked and it was kind of a moral about pride and stuff. Damn that other-loki and his gary oak role in my loki life..!!

SORRY SORRY IM GOING OFFTOPIC AGAIN sorry, mythology stuff was kinda my special interest as a kid and i got stupidly pissy about ‘innacuracy’ in something that wasn’t even claiming to be an adaptation, more of a ‘vaguely inspired by the thing’ I guess...

anyway WHAT I ORIGINALLY MEANT LOL is that ‘he never knew he was a monster thing and was raised as a human and got super sad when he found out’ is wildly innacurate and OOC to fuckin everything about this proud-as-fuck magic man who walked around being Aggressively Gay And Trans Erryday and calling odin out on his shit even when he knew he was gonna get his ass kicked. srsly loki never being able to stop being Happy About Himself is kinda what started his actual turn to evil in the myths, he got drunk and couldnt stop telling crude sex jokes and making up dumb rumours about how he was better than all the gods and banged all their wives and also their wives’s husbands btw. And odin was like Hey That Was Even More Loki Than Usual and murdered all loki’s children and locked him in the centre of the earth having his eyes constantly melted out with acid and regrowing and also a snake was eating him and also he was pinned with his dead son’s own guts as chains and also lets punish the wife who wasnt even there and tie her up too forever hugging her screaming hubby and trying to hold the acid out of his eyes with a comically small cup and her increasingly scarred skeleton hands. Because he was rude at a party. Then loki turned evil when he finally escaped and Hey I Think He Might Have Had One Or Two Reasons. Mythology is kinda fucked up sometimes, lol!

... ANYWAY WHERE WAS I, SORRY

loki being a lil emo teen dude who’s sad cos o no i am a monster and my dad never loved me = innacurate, and less interesting than many very interesting things of these myths that i wish they did instead

BUT

if it wasnt a weird attempt to change an already good story then it would be a good story yo!

like srsly there were a lot of particular elements to it that were really distinctive visually and i can see why they ended up being way more popular in fanart even if they were practically never shown again. It was a good idea to give the jotunn more of a distinct physical appearance from the Big Ol Protagonist Gods Of Generic Humanness, that like the one thing they made more accurate than the comics! And the funky blue look is really cool cos its like a fantasy equivelant of aliens, and like.. a cool lookin deep blue that isnt quite the cliche you’d expect for ice guys. And it looks nice with glowy red eyes and those weird patterns like theyre born with tattoos or somethin! And it was an interesting change from the comics to NOT have loki be a half jotunn or anything, he was just a regular jotunn orphan who was ambiguously either spared by odin as the last survivor of the war or stolen away from his real family as some sort of messed up trophy. But just like I Guess They’re Celtic Mythology Changelings Too so he magically ended up looking like a human cos he thought he was one? Which fits pretty cool with his particular magic powers being illusion-based, even though everybody else is all ice guys. (which is funnily enough also myth accurate to how NO OTHER JOTUNNS EVER SEEM TO SHAPESHIFT, GEEZ. srsly its not clear whether its some loki unique power or just a big ol plot hole XD)

And then it added a really cool visual aspect to have basically this guy who was under a glamour his entire life and didnt know it, and gets a really kinda existentially horrifying moment of finding out his face isnt his face?? srsly that was so messed up! you’re standing there and you know this is The Poorly Explained McGuffin That Somehow Powers Up Jotunns I Guess and you’re “dad this is your last chance to stop lying” and HE CONTINUES TO LIE ANYWAY but then whoops u touched the thing and I Guess You Really Was Monsters Poor guy...

BUT THEN MY PONT IS LIKE its so wasted!!! none of that really comes up again after that scene!! and we arent supposed to be sympathetic to loki and he’s just the bad guy and all we get is a twist that he did all his bad guy stuff with the unexpected motive of actually NOT betraying his father but just leading the jotunns to take over asgard and then killing them all and somehow faking being a hero so everyone would accept him back, even though nobody except the dad even knew he was a jotunn and indicated they were gonna kick him out and also why did you suddenly want to murder your brother out of a poorly established jealousy you apparantly always had yet also you still love him and just... uhh?? how was any of this plot meant to work out, dude. Srsly I am SO glad to hear they made his characterization more consistant in the sequels but i really hated the first movie so much i’ll probably never watch them lol. and did we really need to wait like half a decade to get some proper sibling dynamic? im so grossed out by how all the fans of the first movie shipped them and pulled that weird ‘not blood related’ excuse...

WHOOPS IM RAMBLING AGAIN

anyway it sucks that: * we never get to see Cool Blue Monster Loki Design ever again in the film * he’s suddenly evil and does a bunch of shit that doesnt even make sense given the motivation of Sad Because Monster Lies * we dont even get any emotional continuation or conclusion on that one big sad reveal scene that looked like it had so much plot potential * ALL THE JOTUNNS ARE JUST EVIL. At the same time that the film tries to make a moral about loki being bad for wanting to kill them all EVEN THOUGH THATS WHAT THOR DID AT THE BEGINNING * srsly the film starts off with thor being a huge jerk and then he doesnt become more sympathetic until way after loki suddenly turned unsympathetic so we have this void in the middle where we cant root for anyone. and it makes you wonder why they even bothered with SUCH a powerful sympathetic scene for this poor dude! * all the jotunns are evil and just agree to murder all of valhalla for no reason and also none of them even talk except Biological Dad Man, who is also super super evil and doesnt love loki cos Hey We Cant Have Any Complexity Here * also they mixed up the names and called him by myth loki’s mom’s name which I suppose could work if this was the same character who transitioned or something, but this was at a point back when marvel tried to cover up all references to genderfluidity being a literal superpower of loki’s. also they didnt show him having a mum at all and all the female characters were kinda poorly handled so yeah. * loki for no fuckin reason stays loyal to odin even though he just learned he was kidnapped as a kid and has been raised to want to kill his own home village like seriously what the fuck * last minute out of nowhere backstabbing of personalityless evil jotunn dad and yknow.. like the million bazillion jotunns who were all (as far as we know) super happy to have their presumed dead prince come back and perfectly nice to him as a family. like seriously could you not have at least established that they were jerks to him in.. some way? WE SAW SO MUCH OF ODIN BEING A TERRIBLE DAD UNTIL NOW. And he was supposed to be sympathetic! and his last scene up until now was being called out on lying to his adopted son for a bazillion years and the question of his goddamn motives was left wide open so we dont KNOW if he was sympathetic or not, geez! if you cant bother to establish why loki should side with odin then at least establish why he should want to murder his entire biological family right after they ACCEPTED HIM INTO THEIR HOME. They were shown being evil in that they wanted to invade asgard, yeh, but also your protagonist’s main goddamn struggle is about wanting to invade jotunheim and like apparrantly everyone’s being doing this for a bazillion years and there’s not even the slightest hint who started the damn war in the first place... * Don’t kill jotunns thats bad, loki is bad for doing that. But also all jotunns are bad and we can kill them anyway cos they invaded first. Yknow.. due to loki tricking them specifically to kill them. And them believing him cos he’s Kinda The King’s Presumed Dead Son And Seriously Why Does Nobody Talk One Way Another About Whether They’re Happy Or Not That He’s Back * did loki and incorrectly named king guy even have a single sentence together that wasn’t ‘mwahaha we shall Plot Device to Evil Invade’? not like five seconds of ‘fuck i missed my son’ or ‘its awkward to bond again with a son that grew up without me’ or even ‘what was it like to be trapped with our mortal enemies that we all assume are evil and kidnapped you’ * LIKE ACTUALLY WHY WAS THAT NEVER BROUGHT UP? the jotuns didnt fuckin know that loki got adopted by a guy and raised as a human! did any of this make sense from their perspective?? were they not even slightly suspicious when he didnt tell them where he’d been for all those years and also spent all his screentime staying in human form and never showing off that cool special effect evr again?? didnt anyone think maybe he was just an asgardian lying to them? and did nobody recognise him as the son of their mortal enemy and think that was a way bigger reason he might be lying, or even a reason not to trust him even if he was indeed a jotunn with an identity complex...? or hell, did he NOT EVEN TELL THEM HIS BIG BACKSTORY MOTIVE??? did they just think Hey Some Random Asgardian Wants To Betray His Own Kind, That’s Not Suspicious In Any Way? i mean at least that would explain about why Dad 2; The Redaddening literally never mentioned being his damn dad or showed any emotion except Generic Evil... * Anyway none of this matters cos we killed all the jotunns in a justified way even though killing the jotunns is why loki is the bad guy, and then we do some sort of magical segregation power to cut off the path between the worlds so like.. the 5% of not dead guys over there can never appear again and we can have some sort of weird sense of moral high ground. Also loki falls off a cliff and dies, but obviously its a fakeout for the sequel, The End

THINGS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY COOL TO DO WITH THIS PLOT INSTEAD MAYBE: * like fffuckign show goddamn Loki Real if you bothered to invent a new design for the jotunns looking not like humans in the first place... * hey actually explore the kind of existential horror stuff of finding out your preconceived notions about some other realm’s citizens being Inherantly Evil Monsters are all wrong and also you were one of them all along * also like.. actually commit to the plot of them NOT being Inherantly Evil Monsters. like seriously i guess loki was the only not bad one cos he was raised as an asgardian?? and then he immediately switches sides as soon as his orignal nature is revealed, so i guess not. >_> * like man there’s fifty bazillion ways you could have handled trying to stop a war between two sides where neither is evil, and like seriously the dude who’s part of both works could have been the symbol of peace who did that... * also minor note but why is every other jotunn identical and never speaks except loki and Evildad Plotdevice, thats really fuckin stupid * srsly imagine if they had any form of established culture or civilization or anything instead of just Standing In A Field, Being Vaguely Menacing, With No Houses Even Nearby. like srsly their whole world is just generic jrpg dungeon tundras i guess... * imagine all the plots that could come from Not Villain Plot Loki getting to go visit this other country of the monster folks and get a first hand experience on how the citizens live and how they’re not just all enemy soldiers with no damn personality or motive beyond Bad Hatewrong The Anger Things. imagine the fuckin complex plot sads that could come from if he was actually WELCOMED by his birth family and had a dad that had been mourning him for like thirty fuckin years and just wanted to keep him happy and safe. You could have eighty more angsts if the plot of those angsts is Oh Fuck I Was So Wrong About These People And Stood By And Supported This War That Was Killing Them, And Am I A Bad Person Because I Only Found Sympathy For Them After Discovering A Blood Relation? * and like you could still have bad guys, you could have bad guys on both sides who are perpetuating the war and both have to be stopped so this peace can happen. And you can have not bad guys who were suckered in by war propeganda into working for these bad guys, and you have to try and make them reach the same realization that poor loki had forced upon him. * and like.. what if they did explore that one weird throwaway line about not knowing if odin’s motives were sympathy for the last survivor of a massacre, or a desire to steal a kid as a trophy of that same massacre? like maybe odin actually was a war hungry monster back then and his intentions were cruel in kidnapping this kid, but he realized what a horrible mistake he’d been making with his life when he began to see the kid grow up and have just as much of a complexity of emotion and potential for goodness as any of his own people. And the reason he never told loki his past was not because of Plot Device but because of shame for his original motives in this whole sad affair, and guilt in feeling that he could never undo what happened. like ‘oh god maybe the boy will be happier if he never knows he had all the stuff he lost because of me’. And thats also why he could seem distant like he doesnt love him, its feeling like he doesnt deserve to experience this kid’s love after he’s coe to realize the true atrocity of what he did to him.. * and also i dunno maybe the two dads could get At Least One Scene of Actually Talking Together and resolve some damn things... * could even be sad if odin like.. wants biological-dad to kill him so he can atone for his sins, and loki goes bursting in at the last second like WAIT NO ITS A TRAP HE’S TRYING TO COMMIT SUICIDE DAMMIT and then we find some way to resolve a plot that isnt Action Scenes And All The Bad Guys Die A Lot * also fuck i dont know if u want a ship of monster dude and not monster dude then do the two dads instead of a guy and his adopted brother, thats just gross * also MORE SCREENTIME FOR THE CUTE AND COOL MONSTER LOKI DESIGN. like yo you cant have any form of plot about accepting yourself unless you show his true form like.. more than once. as far as i know it never appears in the sequels even after they give him his super overdue redemption plot :/

Summary: You’ve been in love with a boy since you were 6 years old, however, that is also when you left him, moving to Minnesota. Now that you are officially an adult and fresh out of college, you burn some time and get a job, conveniently working alongside him.

Your P.O.V. (Second P.O.V.)

~Remember back to when you were 6 years old. That's where this will start~

You laughed as the little boy you had been playing with, landed a perfect flip off of the best swing in this park. "Yayyy! Good job Bear! Teach me please?" You questioned staring into his blue-green eyes.

"I dunno, I might have to go soon..."

"But Barryyyyyy,"

"Fine. But only for a little bit," he responds while giggling at your sudden transition from a pouty face, to an extremely excited one.

You, being the quick learner that you are, had soon perfected the little trick and called your mother over so you could both show-off. "Mommy! Come look at what my new friend taught me!"

"Hmm?" Your mother looked up from her book to watch you guys. You both successfully landed as she clapped and laughed at your scared face when you had almost lost your balance.

You turned towards Barry as your mother informed you that you'd have to go home soon. "Thanks Bear!" You were grinning from ear-to-ear as you continued, "I had so much fun today and meeting you! I couldn't ask for a better friend!"

"No problem, Y/N! You'll come back tomorrow, right?"

"Yep!" You exclaimed, popping the "p."

"Okie! Bye Y/N and Ms. Y/L/N!"

"Bye-bye!" You and your mother both responded.

You had kept going to that park, every day, just to spend more time with your newest friend. In fact, the end of summer was drawing nearer, and your family was planning on moving, tomorrow, on account of your father being promoted. You didn't know exactly where you were moving to, as you tried to tune out their voices everytime your parents talked about moving. You hated the thought of leaving. Leaving your hometown, friends, close family, and hiding spots was too much for you. But, you couldn't really do much about it, seeing as you were 6. So, instead, you went around and got pictures of your favorite spots and people, while your sister/brother tagged along, to make sure you wouldn't get kidnapped, this is L.A. for Pete's sake.

At last, you ended up at your favorite park. You immediately smiled as you saw Barry waiting for you on the swings. "BEAR-BEAR!" You screeched, as your brother/sister sighed and you took off towards the swing set.

"Y/N/N!" He yelled back, jumping off the swing and bracing himself for your daily tackle-jump on him.

Your sister/brother chuckled, turning their camera on and taking a couple pictures and you and Barry fell on the grass.

You both sat up and immediately fell back over laughing. You eventually stood up and posed as your sibling took pictures of you both. After all the fuss was over you and Barry sat on the swings one last time before you would leave. "I'm going to miss you so much, Y/N," Barry said, slightly tearing up. "I don't want you to leave..."

"I don't want to either," you were tearing up as well, but tried not to show it. "Just, pinky promise you won't forget me?"

"Pinky promise."

You hugged each other for a bit, then, wiping your eyes, stood up. "Y/N! Time to go! You still have to finish packing up your books!"

"Coming Y/S/N!" You yelled. "Bye-bye forever Bear..."

"Bye-bye Y/N/N..." He whispered, holding back tears, as you walked away. Away from your favorite person, knowing you'd never forget how much this boy meant to you.

That night, you had finished packing and ended up crying yourself to sleep. Your father had come in to wake you up at 3:40 a.m. They had finished packing everything, except everyone's sleeping bags and suitcases of essentials and clothing, into the moving van. You rolled up your sleeping bag, tossed it into the back of your families mini-van, grabbed your suitcase, and jumped in the truck, falling back asleep as you left your old life behind.

~Fast-forward to when you are 18, moving out of your small home in Minnesota, and moving back out to California, L.A. specifically, to start college~

You sat in your living room, surrounded by clothing, books, supplies, and photo albums. Sighing, you looked up at you mother. She laughed, "how about I pack this stuff in the suitcases, and you pick which photos you want."

"Really? Oh my gosh, thank you so much!" You exclaimed falling backward onto your pile of photo books. "Ouch!"

Your mother laughed even harder and you shot her a death glare. Picking up an album without removing your glare, you looked puzzled at it. "Mom, were all these from when we were in Cali?" You questioned, flipping through the pages.

"Oh, I almost forgot about that album! You can have it, it's mostly you anyway."

You looked back down, then stood up. "I'll be back in an hour, okay?"

"Alright, just don't forget bug spray, it's in the bathroom!" She shouted as you walked towards the bathroom.

That was just like your mother to read your mind and know where you were going. Then again, it's the only place where no one bugs you (minus the actual bugs).

After applying bug spray, and grabbing some sweats, you began the trek, up the hill, to your treehouse. You dad had helped you build it when your family first moved to Minnesota. You immediately claimed it as yours, and that's the way it has stayed for 12 years.

Climbing up the worn ladder, you stopped at the top and turned around. This gave you the perfect view of the just-beginning sunset. ‘Perfect!’ You thought as you finished your ascent into the small room. Sitting at your small desk, and giving yourself another breathtaking view of the setting sun, you switched on your small battery-powered lamp and opened the book.

As you slowly turned the pages, one-by-one, memories flooded to the front of your mind. Tears started flowing as you saw pictures of your siblings, parents, friends, family, and events. Wiping your eyes, you flipped to the last page and saw one single picture. It was you and a small boy... what was his name? He seemed so familiar, yet, you couldn't remember his name.

By now the sun had completely sunk. You shut the book, turned off the light, and left your treehouse, back towards your house.

When you walked in, the scent of your favorite dinner filled your nose. Smiling, you walked back to the living room and placed the album in one of your suitcases.

~Timeskip to after you graduate college because I haven't even been through it and I don't know what to write xD~

"Thanks for watching everyone, next time on (Y/C/N)" You waved goodbye to everyone and ended the video. "WOOP TIME TO EDIT!" You screamed, knowing no one would hear you.

You had started this whole YouTube thing, as just a hobby back in your second year of college. It gave you something to keep you busy, considering you breezed through assignments and classes, and you were creative enough to keep the channel going and growing. You were currently at 2.6 million subscribers, gaining about 450,000 more a week. After you had graduated college with a bachelor's degree in I/D/H. You had decided to just stay in L.A. to continue your channel and see where life takes you. But now, being a full-time YouTuber, only uploading twice a week, you had a lot of free time. As much as you loved spending that time playing video games, you needed something more challenging, more..... exciting.

So, the next day, you were flipping through the area's newspaper. Maybe there would be an ad for you to earn a little extra money?

Suprise, surprise, there was! "Experienced editor needed for video making. $---- per week, call Suzy at, xxx-xxx-xxxx for details," you read to yourself. "Hmm, why not? I could do that!"

You immediately grabbed your cell and dialed the number. She picked up almost instantly and you talked for about 10 minutes, then, set up a Skype interview. Suzy sounded so excited to hear from someone, like, this position was needed A.S.A.P. or something. She also said that you sounded like the type of person they were looking for, so that made you extra happy!

~Timeskip to a week later, an hour before the interview~

You looked at the clock. 4:30. The interview was in an hour and you were so excited, that you had started getting ready 2 hours ago. Being extra careful with your outfit choice and make-up. You were wearing black jeans and converse, as well as a Legend of Zelda sweatshirt and your lucky watch. You had only done your eye make-up, considering you felt your lips looked fine the way they were. You quickly put your H/C hair into a messy bun and turned on your favorite show.

Soon, it was 5:25. You jumped up and grabbed your laptop, pulling up Skype, and making sure you looked alright. At exactly 5:30 sharp, the ringing starts. Putting on a smile, you answered.

~Timeskip again because I've never had a Skype interview~

"Well, thank you so much for letting me have this interview!" You say, glancing at the time, 6:15, and noticing she was wrapping up.

"No problem! You are so much fun to be around," she laughed. "Honestly, in my opinion, which is the most important right now, you should get the job. Your personality is perfect, you like the same topics we do, we are able to hold a convo together, AND I feel like we will be friends soon!"

You blushed as she complimented and chuckled at the rest. "So I got the job?" She nodded, "Thank you so much, Suzy! I can't wait until I meet you all in person!"

You were ecstatic, and, by the looks of it, so was Suzy. "So you accept! Hooray! I'll send you the Grump Space address and you can start on Monday!"

"Thanks! Bye now!"

"Bye!"

The call ended and you jumped up and down on the couch until you were too tired to continue. Monday was 3 days from now. That'll give you plenty of time to watch some of their videos to get the gist of what you were in for.

"Urrng," you grumbled, smacking the snooze button on your alarm.

You lay in your bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to wake up. After about 3 minutes, you rolled over to grab your phone. Turning the cell on, you realized what day it was, and practically jumped out of bed. You rushed to the bathroom and hopped into the shower. You began to sing some songs that popped into your head. Luckily, no one else lived with you.

After practically screaming 3 songs, you got out of the shower and started getting dressed into your favorite red sweater, as well as some high-waisted jeans and matching sneakers. You quickly checked your already-done nails for chips. Surprisingly, they still looked flawless. You still had an hour before you had to leave, so you spent a good 20 minutes perfecting your hairdo.

After you were satisfied with your hair, you sat down to do your make-up. You put on a shade of red lipstick that matched your outfit and started working on your eyebrows. When they looked fabulous, you started working on your eyes.

By the time you were done with everything, you still had 10 minutes left. You quickly spritzed some perfume on yourself and grabbed your bag. Sighing, you spoke to yourself, "Might as well get going. Better early than late!"

You grabbed your phone and lucky earbuds and walked outside into the crisp, cool morning. You smiled and went to start your car. The box full of essential items was already in the backseat, a result of being nervous and prepared last night. In the box were items such as perfume, your travel make-up bag, Pokémon figurines, your favorite book series, several potted plants, various office supplies, and a picture frame holding the old picture of you and a small boy.

You pulled up to the Grump Space, as Suzy had called it, and shot a text to Suzy telling her you had arrived. You got out of your car, grabbed the box, and started towards the door. As soon as you arrived at the door, it opened, revealing the gorgeous creature that was Suzy. "Y/N! Welcome! I was worried you wouldn't show up!" She giggled, holding the door. "Come in, come in! I'll show you your desk."

Giggling at her statement, you walked inside and realized that you were the only ones here. "Uhm, Suzy? Where is everyone? Did I show up too early?"

"No no no, the guys are always late. Well, except for Arin, I make him come with me."

At the sound of his name, Arin walked out from the kitchen, carrying toast. "Oh hey Y/N! Welcome to the Grump Space! Did you eat breakfast yet?" He offered a piece of toast towards you, which you gladly accepted. He walked over to, what you assumed was, his desk. While taking a bite of your toast, Suzy lead you over to an empty desk. Your desk.

She opened your box and helped you set up your little workspace. Before she could see the picture, you quickly put it face down on your chair. When you were both satisfied with the way the desk looked, she noticed the photo frame on your chair. "Oops, I guess we missed something!"

You gasped and reached out for the picture, but you were too late. She picked it up and stared at it for a while. "Y/N, this is so adorable! Is that you? Who is this little boy? I swear I've seen him before..."

"Do you know who he is?" You asked without thinking. Realizing what you said, you immediately looked down, blushing. "I-I mean, yeah... It's an old friend and me when we were younger, living here in L.A."

"You don't remember his name?" She asked, obviously puzzled.

"No, for the life of me I can't. I remember that we met the summer before I moved to Minnesota, but that was all the way back when I was 6. I've had that photo for years now, and I still can't remember his name."

"Awe I'm sorry Y/N. I can help you try to remember, though, now that you work with me!" She looked cheery again, which made you light up again as well.

"Oh thank you, Suzy! That would be great!" She set the frame on your desk as you continued, "I'd love to meet everyone else first, though. I've been binge watching videos to get myself pumped and ready to edit, for the past few days."

"Really? So I hired a fan," she chuckled.

"A slight one," you grinned.

"Well, I guess it's less work for Barry, then."

"Yup, I even watched his tutorial on GrumpOut, so I know pretty much all I need to, already!"

"That's perfect Y/N!" She squealed and hugged you.

Just then, a tall, fluffy haired man walked in, singing. Behind him, walked in a shorter, bearded man. "Dan! Barry!" You shouted.

Dan stopped singing, and they both turned to look at you. Locking eyes with Barry, he smiled and you slightly blushed. He seemed familiar. And not because you knew him from the videos.

"You must be Y/N, the new editor!" Barry said, still holding eye contact.

"Wait, I didn't know we were getting a new grump?" Danny turned towards Suzy, quite confused.

"Dan, I told you guys all last Friday. That was the day I interviewed her, remember? I even showed you guys some of her videos!"

Quickly facing Suzy, you asked, "you showed them my videos? Is that how you knew I was, quote, perfect for the job?"

"Yup! Your videos were Barry-approved," she laughed.

You turned back to face Barry and he winked at you. "Well, welcome to the team!" They all started clapping, as Arin walked in cheering.

Then, a groggy, blue-eyed man walked in. Looking up, everyone stopped. "Did I miss something?" He questioned as everyone started laughing.

~Another timeskip to when peeps are recording and Barry is giving you a quick run-down at his desk~

"Annnnnd, that's about it! Seeing as you already knew most of that, we have some break time."

"Really? Oh, 'cause they're recording and what-not." You headed over to your desk to grab your phone.

Your desk was just off to the right of Barry's, just in case you would need any help. He turned towards your desk as you spoke up again. "Coffee run?" You suggested.

He nodded, but his eyes were locked on your desk. Following his gaze, you noticed he was looking at the photo frame. You turned your head back towards him, to find him now staring at you. "Is that you? Like, in the picture?"

You smiled, "yeah, it's me and an old friend, here in L.A., from before I moved when I was six. Before you ask, no I don't remember his name, and yes, I'm trying to find him because he was kinda my first love..."

"Y/N..." He turned back to his desk, quickly opening drawers, looking for something.

"Yes Barry?" You were a little confused while you waited until he found what he needed.

Smiling, he pulled out a small, photo from the top drawer. Before you could see it, he spoke again. "So, you're looking for your first love, too?"

You nodded, and he continued. "I met my first love back when I was six, she moved away, though, and I wasn't sure where. The day before she had to leave, we spent almost the entire day together, and her brother/sister took a picture of us. A week later, I got the picture in the mail, and I've been looking for her ever since," he noticed how confused you were and showed you an exact copy of your picture.

You gasped and jumped up. You both hadn't noticed, but as Barry was telling the story, everyone else had started listening from various spots in the room. Barry stood up and you ran to hug him. He seemed surprised at first, but quickly relaxed and spun you around. "Barry I've been looking for you for years!" You squealed.

"Y/N I can't believe I finally found you!" He responded, equally as excited.

You both stayed hugging each other until Suzy tapped your shoulder. You quickly parted and noticed everyone else in the room. Barry blushed as Suzy spoke. "Well well Y/N, I guess you really did need my help to find him," she laughed.

"Thank you Suzy, thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Looking around the room, Arin and Dan smiled and winked at you, then walked back to the recording room. Ross yawned and said "congrats" before turning towards his desk, and Suzy turned to walk upstairs. "So, how about that coffee run, love?" Barry looked at you, still blushing.

You smiled, equally as red, and grabbed his hand. "I'd love to, Bear," you winked at him.

You both left the building to get ready for the first day of your finally satisfied life.
