Anon wrote: I study in a different country to where we live, so my family and I go months without seeing each other sometimes. But for some reason I never miss them. When I get back, they understandably are curious to know lots of stuff, but their questions make me feel uncomfortable, and it doesnât have to do with the questions themselves. It seems that I donât feel comfortable sharing myself with my family.
At this point my mom has even mentioned that sheâs not sure she knows who I am anymore. Whenever she brings up the way our relationship has come to be, it makes me really sad as well. (Note: my close family is just my mom and grandma, I have an aunt and two cousins that are pretty close as well, and thatâs it). It started being like this when I was 13 or 14, and itâs gotten worse and worse. It feels like I donât love my family. Even though theyâve been endlessly kind to me.
13/14 is the same time I started to feel depressed, and until now Ive only had brief moments of alleviation, when Im distracted from it by socialising or doing a fun activity. I donât know if one is the cause of the other, or if they have some common cause or are completely unrelated. Maybe the depression isnât related, since I have great relationships with my friends, and I donât see why the depression would discriminate between friends and family in terms of how I am with them. During university there were several times that I had nightmares involving my mom and her bad temper.
She was a strict parent but had reasonable boundaries but would explode sometimes and looking back those were emotionally torturous moments. She moved on from them really quickly and was able to make a joke and change conversation soon after, whereas I canât do that. Maybe I havenât been able to move on from any of them and this is the result. The nightmares probably mean I have some resentment, right? I feel I shouldnât have any resentment because she really loves me and her goal is my happiness, and she has made the impossible possible for me.
On the other hand, perhaps her anger and my unconscious resentment is a completely separate issue, since my grandma is probably one of the most kind and selfless people and has never been bad to me, and yet I feel the same with her â I feel uncomfortable sharing myself, I get irritated by them too easily but try not to show anything. And reading this back makes me disgusted with myself. I feel uncomfortable talking to them, hugging them, even smiling at them. For some reason Im better with my aunt and cousins in this regard, but Im not at all like this with my friends.
Maybe Im so knee deep that Iâm scared of my familyâs happiness if I were to actually change my behaviour at this point. Recently my mom asked me whether I would tell her any secret/problem of mine. She wasnât asking me to share one, just asking if I would. She said she never told her parents about her problems because she doesnât get along with her dad, and her mom would just tend to dismiss her feelings, though with good intentions. My mom said she deeply hopes that I would share. I thought about it and concluded that I wouldnât. Even though sheâs the wisest person I know and would be the best at helping me with any problem, I wouldnât, and I donât know why. I didnât tell her this because I donât want to hurt her. Like I literally cannot remember the last time I smiled at her.
For 19 years I never once thought about my emotions or tried understanding them, I would just ignore them with other activities and they disappeared. Now with more and more problems coming in, and more serious problems, Im trying to teach myself how to be aware of and understand my emotions. I wish I had a good relationship with my mom and I donât know how to fix it because I donât know why it all went wrong.
I've been depressed without break for 5 years and with emotional problems all of a sudden appearing in the past half year I recently feel suicidal. Of course my mom knows none of it, and the one reason I havenât done anything to myself is because she loves me a lot and she would blame herself for the rest of her life. So even my emergency exit is blocked off. What on earth is my issue? You owe me nothing. Thank you sincerely.
--------------------
When depression is serious enough to produce suicidal ideation, I very strongly recommend getting professional help. You seem to continually underplay the severity of the problem. Denial only makes the situation worse by allowing mental health problems to fester and worsen over time.
You say you aren't very in touch with your feelings and you tend to ignore them or brush them off. It's actually worse than that because you actively avoid and suppress negative feelings and emotions. Do you know what happens when you do that? You numb yourself and then also lose the ability to feel positive feelings and emotions. Depression is the absence of the positive, is it not? It sounds like one of the first things you need to do is improve your emotional intelligence, consult past posts and recommended books on the resources page.
If you don't mention your type, then my ability to help you is quite curtailed. One deeper reason people get depressed is they get stuck in a rut, existentially. Another way to put it is that they've stopped growing and maturing. I believe this is a relevant factor in your case because you are an adult but still think and behave like a child.
Only you know the reason why you mentally got stuck at the age of 13. For some people, something traumatic happens to them and they can't get past the pain of it, so it halts their growth. For some people, they experience repeated failures and become helpless or destructive, and their dysfunction halts their growth. For some people, it isn't any event that triggered them but a general resistance to change. They get stuck in one very narrow perspective and their mind completely closes to alternative possibilities. Each time the world sends them signs about how their way of seeing things is flawed/wrong, they close up more and more, and they eventually live life as though trapped in a cage of their own making.
Human beings have a natural inclination toward movement and progress - to learn, grow, and evolve. When you stop learning, you stop growing. You've been static for five years. Whatever the reason behind it, understand that resisting the natural inclination to realize your personal potential keeps your mind stuck in the past. The best way out is to make a conscious choice to drop the resistance and embrace the change that would take you to a better place in life.
As I mentioned in a previous post, there are many factors that may contribute to a negative attitude toward change, for example:
fear of loss (of something familiar/valuable)
fear of losing safety or stability
fear of losing control (and facing unpredictability)
fear of losing oneself, oneâs identity, or oneâs freedom
desiring the gains/benefits of unhealthy behavior
low self-esteem
toxic shame
fear of failure
fear of success
pessimism
unrealistic expectations
low frustration tolerance (fear of pain)
lack of resources for coping with the stress of change
lack of knowledge, skill, or competency (regarding how)
What many people don't understand is that the negative things in life are the secret doors to growth. When you avoid the things that trigger your emotional defense mechanisms and run from the situations that seriously challenge you to change your attitude/approach, you will feel bad about yourself. The longer you do it, the more self-esteem you lose, until you eventually feel worthless and, as you say, "disgusted" with yourself.
Negative feelings and emotions serve an important purpose in urging you forward in life, and the more you don't listen to them, the louder they get, until they eventually mutate into a full-blown mood disorder like anxiety or depression. The emotional system is part of your survival instinct as a human being. Negative feelings and emotions are there to prompt action. To fail to act is to fail to survive, to fail to live.
But when you're brave enough to face up to the things that make you uncomfortable, the process of meeting the challenge will reveal new aspects of yourself and you'll have more opportunities to learn about what it means to live life well. Do you care about your potential? Do you care about living life better? Or do you want to stay the same your whole life? You've tried the latter, how is it working out for you? When your life strategy isn't working, it's time for something new, is it not?
There is certainly a big difference between family and friends. Family relationships have far greater potential for intimacy and, on the flip side, far greater potential to hurt. The fact that you feel so conflicted about them reveals the depth of your care and love for them, yet you don't want to express any of it. Friends come and go throughout life, but familial love is a foundational aspect of your existence, a part of your identity. Denying it means denying an important part of yourself, like locking part of yourself away to wither and die. Until you confront this family conflict and reconcile your feelings about it, you'll keep feeling fragmented and stuck in life. Whether you decide to love them or leave them, commit to a decision so that you can finally get on with your life.
On the surface, this situation with your family likely indicates that you have a fear of vulnerability, but there could be other fears mixed in beneath it as well. You have yet to realize that confronting the fear and working through it allows you to learn how to be a more capable person and how to live your life better. Your life is in your hands. You are choosing to keep yourself closed off. You can choose to open the door at any time. Feeling fear, anxiety, or pain is not the end of the world. In fact, without opening yourself up to those negative feelings, you'll never truly understand what it means to experience positive feelings like happiness, fulfillment, and love.

JP vs. Localization in Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation
(Okay, for real this time lol)
Again, hereâs a link to my sources post.
Fortunately, this route follows suit in terms of good localization quality after Conquest. Itâs the shortest out of all the posts, since I donât really have a lot to talk about. Mostly subtle line changes, references and a few key points of information that were cut out. I also went through Hidden Truths and Heirs of Fate to see if I could add stuff from those on here, but there were no big problems that I found.
Once again, the main part of this post will all be put under the cut. If a chapter isnât covered, it means I didnât think there were any differences worth talking about.
Iâll use localized names for characters and locations, unless I feel the need to do otherwise.
Iâll be using she/her when referring to Corrin in this post. (I flipped a coin to decide the gender lol)
Also, note that after Chapter 14, the translation of this route on Fateswartable ends, so I mostly relied on the English patch done by Serenes at that point forward. (I also used PegasusKnight.com as a reference to fall back on if I needed it)
Chapter 7
-A minor gripe I have with localization. The JP version compares Touma (Valla) to hell constantly. To jump ahead a bit, I believe in the JP versions of the End of All Sky/Land/Below tracks are even called The End of All Roads Heaven/Earth/Hell. The Vallites are also often called demons in the JP version, and Anankos himself is known as the âInvisible Demon Dragonâ.
Another cool thing I just thought of too, is a connection to a popular Japanese short story. Zelda fans might be familiar with the story, âThe Spiderâs Threadâ, which inspired the Ancient Cistern dungeon in Skyward Sword.
The beginning of the story has Buddha walking through paradise (heaven), before coming across a pond. The pond is filled with crystal clear water, and covered with water lilies/lotuses. As Buddha gazes further into the pond, he begins to see the depths of hell.
Sound familiar? âAzura is walking through Hoshido, before coming across a lake. The lake is filled with crystal clear water, and when she gazes into the lake she sees the fallen kingdom of her birth. Valla, the kingdom associated with water lilies/lotuses in the game, has been turned into hell itself.â
This association loses its meaning a bit when the comparisons to hell are a bit toned down, as well as when the Buddhist inspirations were kind of supplanted in favor of Greek renames. Itâs not supremely important to the plot as a whole, but itâs something interesting I wanted to bring up.
-In the JP version, while explaining what happened in Valla, Azura eventually says âUsing the art of manipulating peopleâs souls, he (Hydra/Anankos) made the people kill each other.â This bit of the people killing each other was cut in localization.
Chapter 12
-In the JP version, when Corrin asks Flora if she knows anything about dragons, Flora says âSorry, I donât knowâŚThe ancestral dragon of the Ice Clan has already perished and isnât part of the legend. I donât know what role it plays, sorryâŚâ Localization makes her response âI'm sorry, but I can't think of anything... They've been gone so long that we don't even have tales of dragons in the Ice Tribe. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance...â
So, the JP version explicitly says the Ice Dragon is dead (I believe Fatesâ second artbook mentioned this as well), whereas the localization only says the First Dragons have been gone for a long time.
Chapter 16
-Thereâs not really much of a problem that I have with what Ryoma says about Corrin âhaving leadership qualities at a young ageâ but I wanted to do comparisons regardless cuz the word choice might lead one to different conclusions. In localization, Ryoma says this:
Ryoma: Huh... So she told us the same thing... I don't think it's in Corrin's nature to lie. And there's a leadership quality about her that just attracts followers. I remember being jealous of her as a child, in fact. Even at such a young age, she displayed the characteristics of a ruler. Silly to be jealous of her, right?
In the JP version, Ryoma says this:
Ryoma: Oh... So, she told you the same thing. âŚCorrin isnât one to tell lies. Sheâs been like that since childhood. Sheâs always genuine and honest... She has this mysterious appeal that draws people to her. Seeing my younger sister with the qualities of being a ruler... Honestly, it makes me feel envious. âŚWhat a ridiculous thing to say, right?
Again, I donât necessarily have a problem with how it was localized, but some might. The localization version might have people think that Corrin somehow was a fantastic leader at such a young age, but JP is more clear that it was about the qualities she had at a young age that would be valuable as a leader.
Chapter 19
-A minor gripe. In the localization, Azura says that Anankos uses his magic to send Vallites to Nohr and Hoshido to stir up conflict. In the JP version, she says he uses magic, along with the help of a body of water. Thatâs why whenever you fight Vallites outside of Valla proper, thereâs a body of water nearby; Hoshidoâs lake (and the ponds shown in Hinokaâs CQ battle which are in the capital) for Chapter 5, the sea for BR chapter 11, the burning falls for BR chapter 21, and the city for Rev chapter 13. Similarly, the consequences of being a victim to the curse are described as âturning into sea foamâ in the JP version. Localization as a whole kind of toned down how much water has an influence on the story.
Chapter 23
-Probably the pettiest gripe I have lol. As Arete is fading away from Azuraâs arms, Azura has a different reaction in localization and Japanese. In localization, Azura says âMother? Mother!â while a voice clip of her in-battle pain cries plays. In the JP, she says  â*Sob... Sob*âŚ! Mother... Mother...!â, while a voice clip of her crying plays. Her crying voice clip I donât recall hearing anywhere else.
This is one of the few times in the you get to see Azura express a heavy and heartfelt emotion, since her rough childhood caused her to remain guarded and stoic around everyone. The equivalents to this scene in other routes is her death scene in Birthright, and her crying with Corrin over Ryomaâs death in Conquest; a normally unflinching and aloof character breaking down is a rarity, and indicates that the cause of it is something to take note of for the character as a whole. Localization softened this aspect, and I take issue with it, despite it probably seeming trivial to most other people.
Chapter 24
-When Corrin is questioning the phantom Mikoto, an exchange happens. In localization, part of it goes like this:
Corrin: But this can't be... Are you truly my mother?
Mikoto: I am. Even as a puppet of Anankos, my spirit at least remains my own.
Corrin: I... I believe you.
In the JP version, it goes like this:
Corrin: It canât be... âŚAre you really my mother?
Mikoto: Yes... I became an Invisible servant, controlled by the Invisible King... Even so, I am your mother.
Corrin:  âŚâŚâŚâŚ
Again, a minor thing that I donât personally have issue with, but replacing Corrinâs silence with an admittance of belief could make some believe she has ârevertedâ back to being too naĂŻve.
Chapter 26
-While Gunter is relaying his past, an exchange happens. In localization, it goes like this:
Gunter: I ask myself that, every day. I cannot understand the minds of royals. To you all, we commoners are little more than pawns in your schemes... Or weeds to be killed on a whim.
Corrin: That's not true...
Xander: Is that how people view the royalty?
Ryoma: Such an impression would easily breed powerful resentment...
In the JP version, Corrin, Xander and Ryoma donât say anything. They just remain silent.
Endgame
-Not a major problem so much as a general thing about the game, but I can think of like... at least three memes that Treehouse inserted into the localization. Now I like memes, but there is no better way to date your media nowadays. One of them was Kanaâs âThatâs dragon for I love youâ which tbh, is kind of cute and isnât the most well known meme so I guess I can let it slide. Another is Felicia saying âI had one job!â when she messes up in the dining hall, which isnât that big of a deal since the dining hall is very optional.
The last one I can think of is why I put this specific grievance here, and itâs during Corrinâs speech before facing Anankos.
Corrin: We won't back down! This is my... This is our destiny! Ready your weapons! Fight for your friends! With the Seal of Flames... With the Fire Emblem on our side! We fight for our world!!
Yeah, she says âFight for your friendsâ which is everyoneâs favorite Ike line from Brawl. Now, this isnât even a totally inaccurate translation either, but it kind of just... makes the moment funny for the player when itâs supposed to be commanding and serious I guess.
But yeah, not the most important issue by far, but something Iâd thought to mention. Hell, itâs not even that bad compared to how they made Periâs, Effieâs and Hisameâs quirks into exaggerated and tired jokes. And the Beruka-Saizo support. Never forget.
-When Azura and Corrin are by the lake and discuss the latterâs plans to rule, Corrin says this in localization:
Corrin: I'm going to make Valla a wonderful place! In honor of the true last king and for Queen Arete. And everyone who fought... I promise to make them all proud.
In the JP version, she says this:
Corrin: Iâll make the Invisible Kingdom (Valla) into a great land. For the previous monarch, Queen Shenmei (Arete)⌠And for all of my allies who fought beside me. I promise.
So, JP version only mentions Arete as the reigning monarch of Valla. Which makes sense, cuz unless there was some wild âkeeping the bloodline pureâ shenanigans in Valla, Arete being the Queen keeps in line with what we know about the rest of Vallaâs history. Arete was royalty from birth, as was her sister Mikoto. Arete is the one who passed down Lost in Thoughts and the pendant to Azura. Â

Small Gods: Lazy Mornings - 1
Lazy Mornings: Â A Captain America Fanfic
Lazy Mornings Masterlist | More Small Gods
Buy me a â Character Pairing: Â Steve Rogers x F!Reader
Rating: E
Word Count: Â 2361
Warnings: Mentions of injuries. (smut on series)
Synopsis: Steve Rogers has trouble taking time for himself. Â When his friends set him up with a person with a very unusual skill, perhaps he can learn that the quiet moments are just as important as everything else.
A/N: Reader is a minor god. Idea expanding on the one in my fic Lazy Sundays though itâs a completely different story (just same minor god x steve).
IF YOU WISH TO BE TAGGED IN THIS LET ME KNOW.
Chapter 1
Steve was on edge. The Avengers had just come to the end of a very long, and very grueling mission. With the lack of sleep, niggling injuries, and stress of battle, that would have been enough to have him anxious and exhausted just by itself, but Tony had insisted that they have a party to unwind while Steve still had government agencies to liaise with, paperwork to fill out, and people to question. So instead of getting his work done so that he could sleep off his injuries and actually unwind, he had to be âonâ as the public figurehead of Captain America for a bunch of strangers while he was still running on less than four hours of sleep and had a cracked rib.
As he made his way through the large, open room, Steve became aware of a strange phenomenon. The people around the door were in full party mood. People were dancing, talking animatedly, and playing games of darts. But as Steve moved through the room, the mood got more relaxed. There was less dancing and more just talking and sharing drinks. The level of the music dropped so it was more muted and even though the song never changed it somehow felt like it went from an upbeat dance number to a soothing ballad. The light changed in the room too. Closer to the elevator bright-colored disco lights cutting through the dark. Whereas, by the windows, there was a soft diffused gold light, almost like early morning light coming through a gauze curtain. By the time Steve reached the couches that were set up on a platform against the windows on the far side of the room, everyone was just lazing back on the couches, casually drinking in the soft light.
Thor, Bruce, Wanda, and Clint were all sitting together with you. Steve didnât recognize you, but the soft glow in the room seemed to both highlight you and make you seem like you were in soft focus. You had a slightly ruffled look like youâd woken up recently from a very good sleep. Clint was practically curled up next to you like a cat.
âSteven!â Thor boomed, making everyone near him jump in surprise. âCome here, I have someone I wish for you to meet.â
Steve tried to hide the frustration that suddenly bubbled up inside him. His friends had been trying to set him up with people for months and months now. Heâd been on countless blind dates with people he had nothing in common with, and even more dinners with surprise guests he was forced to be on with. He hadnât expected it from Thor and he resented the fact that even after such a grueling few weeks he needed to now play a round of the dating game.
Thor got up and approached Steve, clapping him on the shoulder as he gave your names. He leaned in, bringing his lips to Steveâs ear. âYou may feel the urge to pull away. Resist it - for me.â
Steve sighed and nodded as you looked up at Thor. âYouâre not staying?â You asked.
âNot tonight,â Thor answered. âI wish to celebrate.â
You gave him a small nod. âWell, you know where I am if you need me.â
âI do. Thank you,â Thor said, letting Steve go and heading back into the party where Tony was talking animatedly with Hill.
Steve took a seat near you. Clint looked up at him with hooded eyes, like Steve had just disturbed his sleep, but not enough to properly wake him up. There was an odd feeling of lethargy around the couches. Not in a bad way exactly. Just an overly relaxed sleepiness that made Steve wonder if theyâd been partaking in marijuana before heâd gotten here. Along with the sleepy-looking Clint, Wanda had her legs tucked up under her and was staring absently out the window, while Bruce was relaxed back with a goofy looking smile on his face. It strangely had the effect of making him want to get up and leave in case heâd forgotten to do something.
âSo what do you do?â Steve asked as he resisted the urge to go back down to the office and get his work done.
You smiled and shook your head like you found the question funny. âI like to paint,â you say. âAnd I make a mean breakfast.â
Steve looked at you puzzled. Heâd never come across someone who answered that question with their hobbies rather than their job. He wondered if you didnât have one and were embarrassed or if you did something you didnât think Steve would approve of. The thought you were a HYDRA agent passed through his head and he looked over at Thor. âHow do you know Thor?â Steve asked and Wanda started to giggle.
âWe run in similar circles,â you say. âThough I admit, I do not know him well.â
âSheâs not HYDRA, Steve,â Wanda giggled.
That knowledge made Steve relax a little and you smiled at him. âYouâre holding a lot of tension, Captain Rogers.â
âPlease, call me Steve,â he said. âWeâve been on a mission for weeks now. It takes a lot of me. Everyone really.â
You placed your hand gently on his forearm. He normally didnât like when strangers invaded his personal space like that. Heâd had a fair amount of sexual harassment since becoming a supersoldier. However, there was nothing even flirtatious about the moment. It was genuine and kind and made him relax even more. âIt can be hard to let it go,â you said. âBut you are done, and now you can take the weight off your shoulders. No need to carry it tonight.â
Steve tilted his head. âAre you a therapist?â
You chuckled again. âI guess - of a sort,â you said.
Steve was perplexed by the vague nature of your answers and couldnât help thinking people were hiding something from him like this was some big trick. Though he couldnât see any reason why Thor of all people would be the instigator of such a trick.
âWill you relax, Steve?â Wanda chided. âSheâs just a girl Thor thought youâd like.â
Steve tried to do as he was told. He had to admit that it wasnât easy though. You definitely had a calming influence. Despite the loud music and drinking happening in the rest of the room, at the couches, it was like a slumber party. Bruce looked as relaxed as Steve had ever seen him, his whole body open and still as he talked calmly. Clint dozed on and off, waking to join in on the conversation and then dropping back off to sleep again, while Wanda was giggly, and about an hour in she said she was going to go to bed and paint her toenails.
Whatever it was that was affecting the others, Steve could feel it too, but in the middle of what was a raging party, Steve was unwilling to completely relax.
âYou donât like it here much, do you?â You asked.
Steve shrugged. âI donât mind a party sometimes, but no⌠not today.â
âI bet itâs been a long time since youâve had a home-cooked meal,â you mused. âWould you like to come back to my place?â
âNo,â Clint whined as Steve balked. âDonât go.â
âI donât⌠thatâs probably not a good idea,â Steve said.
âI meant for dinner, Steve,â you said. âI promise, no funny business.â
Clint sat up and stretched. âYou should do it, Steve,â he said. âLive a little.â
Steve looked at Clint and Bruce who were both nodding in approval. He sighed and gave a small shrug. âI guess Iâm coming then.â
You got up and offered your hand. âCome on, I wonât bite.â
He let you lead him out of the Tower and down into the street where you flagged down a cab. âI donât usually do this,â Steve said, as he sat in the back with you.
âI know,â you said. âThatâs why Thor set us up.â
âYouâre notâŚâ he stopped, not sure how to ask the question that was swirling in his mind right now and have it not come out as either offensive or judgmental. âAre you a sex worker?â
You smiled and shook your head. âNo. I like my bed though.â
âWhy are you being so vague then?â Steve asked.
âI can tell you if you really want to know,â you said. âBut Thor thought you might fight it more if you knew.â
Steve tensed up and shifted away from you a little. âDo the others know?â
âOh, yes,â you said. âAnd I know you donât know me well enough to trust me, but I promise what it is, wonât hurt you. Iâm not evil or malicious. I am not here because I have to be or Iâve been paid to be. You truly have just been set up with a woman. And I am that. I like you and I just want to take you somewhere you can relax and just enjoy a comforting meal. Thatâs all. If you donât trust your friend on this, just say. Iâll tell you.â
Steve looked you over, trying to see the lie or the trick. All he could see was genuine kindness. He gave a nod. âOkay. Will you tell me eventually?â
âOf course,â you said. âWhen weâre both sure of how we feel about each other, Iâll tell you.â
The cab pulled up at a block of apartments on the upper west side. It was a large pre-war building, the kind that has been romanticized in hundreds of films and costs more than most people could dream of earning to live in.
He followed you in and the two of you rode the elevator up to your floor quietly. The tall ceilings and recessed walls of the hall brought him right back to his childhood. You let him into your apartment and for a moment Steve felt like heâd stepped into a storybook. The light was soft and diffused, filling the room with a hazy golden luminescence. The furniture all looked inviting and cozy, the deep soft-looking couches all had cozy mink throws on them and a collection of fat plush cushions. There were a few large bookshelves both filled with a mixture of books and board games. Your TV was large but not obnoxiously so, and your coffee table was littered with candles, magazines, and books.
âGet comfortable,â you said as you headed into the kitchen, leaving him alone in the living room.
Steve took a moment to look around your apartment. There was something about the room that reminded him of the way he and Bucky decorated. You had a different taste to either man. Steve was more into straight lines and dark wood, and Bucky like black and chrome, whereas you seemed to lean more into creams with splashes of color here and there. However, like with him and Bucky, you had a mix of old and new. Steve liked to keep things from his past whether they be actual things he had owned or just items that reminded him of his mother or times with Bucky. The things you owned seemed to go back further than what he owned, but there was a lot that seemed to center around the nineteen-twenties. Though they didnât stop there. There were items representative of various decades littering your apartment. From depression-glass bowls to porcelain animals from the sixties to a lava lamp and a small collection of Pez Dispensers.
Steve noticed a copy of the Hobbit that looked remarkably like the copy he got when it came out. Picking up several books he noticed that many were first editions.
He went and sat down more confused about who you were than he had been before. You came out with a tray and placed it on the coffee table in front of him. Each was laden with pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and fresh fruit.
âItâs a little late for breakfast,â Steve said, looking at you with his eyebrow raised.
You shrugged. âIâm good at a few things, but this is the one thatâs quickest,â you explained. âOtherwise weâd be up for a few more hours while I cooked.â
âBreakfast food it is,â he said and started to eat. You took your plate and sat back, crossing your legs under you and balancing your plate in your lap. âYou have an interesting collection,â Steve said, gesturing to one of your bookshelves.
âThank you. I try not to get too sentimental about what I keep and let go,â you said. âI know itâs a little eclectic but there are some things I just canât let go of.â
âHow long have you lived here?â Steve asked.
âA long time. Practically forever,â you answered
Steve wanted to ask you what you did for you to be able to afford living here but knew that would meet the same vague answer - so he let it drop and ate. The food was good. Warm and sweet and full of fat. It wasnât long until Steve began to feel sleepy and content. You took the plates back away and when you returned to the living room, Steve was practically asleep on the couch. You came over and gently touched his arm.
âIt would be more comfortable in bed,â you whispered.
âI donât⌠I never sleep with women on the first date,â he replied, sheepishly trying to fight the drowsiness pulling him down.
âI have a spare room if you want it,â you said gently. Â âThough I just mean sleep.â
Steve stood slowly and followed you down the hall. You opened the spare bedroom. âThis is my guest room.â
âAnd your bedroom?â He asked, part of him wondering if youâd drugged him.
âThe end of the hall,â you replied, taking a few steps toward it. He followed you down and as he stripped down to his undershirt you changed into a soft pair of pajamas.
He climbed into the bed with you and you wrapped him in your arms. As he drifted off to sleep, he thought how strange it was that he felt as comfortable as he did right now.

41 Reason why I ship Ereri
Eren and Levi is my all-time favorite ship. These two mean the world to me. And while I am not under any illusion that their relationship is canon, theyâre canon in my heart and I want to share with you all the many different reasons why theyâre so fucking shippable. Here are my 41 reasons đ
1. Similarities in their past -- both willing to kill for the ones they love
Eren saves Mikasa by killing two men when heâs just a kid
Levi was trained to kill at a young age. Itâs implied that he killed the people that hurt his dear friend Isabel in ACWNR
2. Mommaâs boys -- definitely a parallel between them in these two shots.
3. Both had to watch their mom die and understand the pain of losing the people they love
4. Parallels between Levi, Isabel, and Farlan, and Eren, Mikasa, and Armin -- both are looking up at the stars and dreaming of something more
5. Eren has always admired Captain Levi. Just look how stars truck he is đ¤Š
6.The first time he meets Levi, he sees the Wings of Freedom on his back. The framing of this shot shows that Levi represents freedom for Eren
7. Levi is intrigued and impressed by the fire/determination when he first meets Eren. He is a spark of hope for Levi.
8. Despite many people claiming this scene is âabusiveâ it is far from it. While it is brutal in nature, Leviâs aggressive display was the only way for him to save Eren from being handed over to the MP. Erwin knew that Levi would need to show the courtroom that he was strong enough to âhandleâ Eren in order for the MP to give Eren over to the SC.Â
Itâs even explained to Eren after the fact that it was a necessary show of power in order to save him.Â
It wasnât something Levi wanted to do -- itâs clear he feels bad about how he handled Eren by asking him if he resented him.Â
Despite everything, Eren understands why Levi had to do what he did and admits to not being resentful towards Levi, who ultimately appears relieved by that admission
9. They catch each other staring/giving each other eyes đ showing that they have an innate interest in each other
10. Eren is surprised that Captain Levi is so keen to following orders from the higher ups. When Petra tells him about his past, heâs shocked and wonders why Levi would join be in the Survey Corps. Eren definitely shows interest and curiosity in this scene and appears to want to know more about his mysterious Captain
11. Theyâre super cute together 𼺠Just look at theeeem
12. Levi is caught smirking at Eren when talking about him being creepy. Okay buddy đÂ
13. Levi sees that Eren is a monster and still accepts him anyway. He doesnât judge or condemn him for being the way that he is. In the visual novel âBurning Bright in the Forest of the Nightâ, Levi even refers to him as âa beautiful monsterâ
14. He always gives Eren a choice, allowing him to make his own decisions, and be his own person. Heâs only ever encouraged Eren to be true to himself. Heâs never tried to change him
Even when Eren is struggling with accessing his fatherâs memories and Hange is bombarding him with questions, Levi defends his strange behavior
15. Levi defends Eren based on his âintuitionâ when everyone else sees him as a monster needing to be put down. Instead, he trusts Eren, standing between him and his squad.Â
16. Levi visibly panics when he hears Eren transform during the Female Titan arc. Heâs clearly worried about him and changes gears to try and save him
17. Levi feels like he failed by protecting Eren and he is visibly distraught when Mikasa calls him out on it.
18. Levi makes up for his failure by only caring about saving Eren, whereas Mikasa seems more interested in killing the Female Titan. He has to talk her down
19. Levi is able to motivate Eren and give him confidence when heâs feeling unsure about himself
20. Levi helps mold Eren into the person he becomes later in the story. Eren obviously looks up to Levi a lot and learns from him in more ways than one
21. Levi gives Eren the power/motivation to choose again, encouraging him to believe in himself.
22. They both have righteous anger
23. Eren is super determined to impress Levi and is visibly upset when he fails to meet his expectations
(Just look at the gay panic)
24. Eren unintentionally insults Levi when he calls Rod Reiss a tiny old man. While Levi appears unfazed, Eren visibly panics, clearly showing how much he cares about Leviâs opinion of him
Also I just love this scene. Itâs funnyyy
25. Levi shows concern for Eren on more than one occasion
26. Levi has a thing for Erenâs ass... apparently
Just casually kicking his butt
and talking about it đ
27. Eren isnât afraid to stand up to Levi, despite his harsh exterior. This just goes to show that Eren understands that Levi is more compassionate and empathetic than he lets people believe
28. While Levi is conflicted about who to save with the Titan serum, he ultimately picks Armin.Â
One of the reasons he choses Armin is because of what Eren says about how Armin is good and has dreams, which reminds Levi of the moment that they sat under the stars and talked about the ocean. Levi shows compassion for Eren and his friends
29. Levi gets upset when Erwin tells him to protect the horses instead of Eren
30. Even after losing his best friend, Levi comforts Eren and his friends, letting them know that he does not regret his decision, encouraging them to not regret it as well. Despite being in pain himself, heâs a pillar of strength and comfort for Eren and the others
31. Levi is sympathetic towards Erenâs situation after the Battle of Shiganshina and lets him out early despite his insubordination
32. Levi is disappointed in Eren after what he did in Marley and shows just how upset/affected he was by him leaving by kicking him on the airship. The scene feels very personal and while I could go on and explain why I think itâs incredibly meaningful for their relationship, snkception does a great job of explaining it. You can read their full post here
33. Levi is a protective boyfriend
34. When Eren keeps an important secret, Levi tells them theyâll talk about it later. Thereâs something incredibly personal about the way he says it that implies itâll be a private conversation amongst other things
35. Their height difference though đ
36. Levi is obviously important to Eren, since he shows up in his memory shards
37. Levi is visibly upset when his fellow soldiers talk about feeding Eren to someone else. After everything theyâd been through, thatâs the last thing that Levi wants.
Also, I think itâs important to note that when Levi remembers Eren, he doesnât remember him as a monster, despite calling everyone talking about him that way. He remembers Eren the first time they met, when Eren was helpless and merely human
38. Despite his promise made early in the story to kill Eren if he ever went rogue or lost control, he tries desperately to come up with another solution, anyway out of killing Eren
39. When they realize that killing Eren might be the only way, Levi is visibly distraught
In paths, he is the only one on his knees, heâs so tired, beaten down, and lost over what to do that heâs unable to stand and hold himself up on the airship
40. There was so much that Levi wanted to tell Eren... what it was, I can only speculate. But something tells me he wanted to tell Eren everything, including his feelings for him
41. Lastly, theyâre opposites. The sun and the moon, summer and winter, fire and ice, yin and yang. Eren is fiery, energetic and passionate and Levi is cool, calm, and introspective. Their dynamic is truly beautiful and I genuinely believe Levi is one of the few people who understand Eren completely and accepts him without judgment

Hi! I was wondering if I could request a poly hawks miruko, is you do poly requests, where they share a darling? Their darling is a selective mute, but they thought that their darling was fully mute until they heard them scream. So now they try everything to get them to talk. Please?
Wow Iâve never thought of this pairing and I just now realized how much I love this. Their needs in a relationship clash a lot so I could see this being a very... chaotic dynamic lmao.Â
TW: SMUT, ORAL SEX, ABUSE, ABLEISM, KIDNAPPING, TORTURE, POLY RELATIONSHIPS.
READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.
Yandere Hawks x Yandere Miruko x selective mute!reader:
Hawks is extremely protective, restrained (usually fakes his nonchalant attitude) and constantly on edge. Miruko can be really aggressive, competitive (superiority complex), and oddly easy going when it comes to restrictions... extreme opposites.Â
A big difference between a monogamous yandere Hawks and one with a poly yandere Miruko is that, since she can be so aggressive, his usual mask of warmth and smiles is completely shattered and replaced with an almost constant scowl and cutting eyes almost always directed at Miruko whenever she gets too close to you or talks to you. Hawks has an aura of bloodthirst around him whenever theyâre in the same room and his feathers seem to sharpen as he bristles like an angered cat. This is especially true for an s/o who is disabled because he sees you as something helpless he has to protect at all costs no matter how strong you are.
Miruko, who always has something Really Important To Say and canât focus on anything else, will often not even notice his death glares and just continue to talk to you like nothingâs wrong. If she does happen to spot him though... it can get messy. She sees this non-verbal threat as a challenge and a sadistic smile on her face grows as she asks âWhat do ya think youâre looking at, chicken? You wanna piece of this? I wonât go easy on ya.â
Hawks doesnât like to upset you, so heâll usually just scoff and tell her to watch herself. If he catches her mistreating you, being too rough, or speaking to you too loudly, he immediately points a feather to her throat. If you donât want one to literally kill the other, youâll have to intervene which can be hard when youâre mute. Grabbing Hawksâs wrist and guiding his arm back down will usually do the trick though even if Miruko is still looking for any excuse to fight him for a while after, calling him names like âthe great dictatorâ. She doesnât take well to being told what to do or that giant stick up his ass.
Miruko will absolutely take advantage of the fact that you canât speak to have very rough sex with you while heâs not there. Though Miruko likes to test Hawksâs boundaries, she likes the setup they have and she doesnât want to be kicked out, so she tries to look like sheâs following his rules... while heâs around. She loves to disobey him and sheâs very sneaky about it. This ends up being both good and bad for you because she hurts you while heâs gone but sheâs also kinda like the cool parent and lets you do things Hawks wouldnât like. She may even take you out for lunch dates and on walks whereas Hawks doesnât want you to leave the house.
Her way of trying to get you to talk would be pain, whether itâs sexual or just plain torture. She cackles when you cry out and says âIf you want me to stop, say uncleâ. She never goes too far with you though in fear that Hawks would see your bruising and injuries and she always makes sure to be able to cover them up with makeup. Sheâll even tell you that if Hawks see your injuries, sheâll kill you. Then she tenderly swipes your hair away from your face and kisses you on the forehead while she nuzzles into your side on your bed. Youâd better make sure to hide them well...
To Miruko, being the one to get you to talk first would also be a competition for her of course.
Speaking of Mirukoâs competitive streak, she would have the odd relationship of being jealous of you for Hawksâs obvious preference to you and a desire to have her be your favorite. She thinks she can accomplish this by letting you break his rules but when she scares you and you cling to him, she also gets jealous of Hawks whether you actually prefer him or not. She also sees that as a challenge. This causes a weird cycle of resentment and affection with her. She doesnât even like Hawks much as a person, but she still doesnât like to be second in anything. She wishes she could be more gentle with you like Hawks but she just canât control herself. She is only with Hawks as well as you because she has a very high libido that she needs more than one partner to satisfy, but she loves you and the way you let her bully you. The only reason Hawks puts up with her is because he wants someone to be able to watch you while heâs gone, and heâs gone a lot. This seems like a well oiled machine, am I right? (sarcasm)
Hawksâs way of trying to get you to speak is much nicer. Heâll have you sit in his lap and curl his wings around you protectively while he embraces you within his arms. Heâll only ask you to say different things like âI love youâ, âI feel safe with youâ, and even just his name. He tries to get you to say things he desperately wants to hear from you. As long as it seems like youâre trying to him, he wonât get mad at you if you fail. He has also experimented by pleasuring you with his mouth to get you to say something. Even if it takes him forever he just keeps trying, but heâs only patient if you put in effort too. Heâll definitely lay on the guilt if you donât.
The reason he instills so many rules with you in this situation is because, now that you already know that heâs not as friendly and kind as his public persona and he doesnât have to worry about lying to you to make you feel at ease with him, he feels free to let his anxious and suspicious nature be explicitly known. These rules arenât put into place for control, but more for your own safety. He doesnât know what heâd do without you and losing you is his worst fear that is constantly weighing on his mind. Heâs absolutely paranoid. No one knows him like you do.
If something were to go amiss in this delicate balance of a relationship (like Hawks finding bruises on you or finding out that youâve been breaking his rules while heâs away), everything would fall down at once like a tower made of cards. At least one of them is going to die tonight and thereâs nothing you can do to stop it now. Just hope that whichever kind of treatment you prefer would be the victor.

Part nine of the More to Love series
Summary: Plans for the ball are in full swing, the concealment of your relationship with the knight dwindles and you make a deal with one another that leads to both of you learning a new and valuable skill
Word Count: 8.9k, NO USE OF âY/Nâ
Warnings: SMUT (oral sex F receiving, fingering, multiple orgasms), swearing, mentions of wounds
Authorâs Note: and weâre back to your regularly scheduled royalty and princesscore writings. this chapter is very chill honestly, but i still really enjoyed writing it! thereâs also the introduction of THE DRESS. yâall this dress is insane you really arenât ready i am OBSESSED with this dress.
Part eight
âAre you listening, Princess?â You hadnât even realized you had zoned out. Your cheek was bright red from resting against your palm, and your eyes had glazed over with boredom. You hoped you didnât look too uninterested, but considering the literal Queen of Mandalore looked down at you with folded arms and one arched eyebrow, you were less than confident that you looked engrossed in the conversation.
The Queen, Lady Reeves and yourself have been inside a yellow-themed parlor all morning discussing plans for the ball. Your Knight stood patiently by the door, overseeing the entire meeting. You wore a long sleeve dress that was too hot for the summer sun, which was slowly drying out the mud and puddles from then two-day long rainstorm that no one predicted. You spent the entire day yesterday pretending to rest from the exhausting day previous, but you were really hiding your arm from everyone else. You tried to argue with Koska that a long sleeve in the middle of summer would look for more suspicious than a simple bandage on your bicep, but she disagreed to say the least. The Knight stopped limping this morning, although you were convinced he was just faking it for good measure. If others knew he was injured, it could raise suspicion that you were too. You also think he didnât want you to worry about him. The stab wound really wasnât that deep, but you knew it had to have hurt more than he was showing. You thought he should take a few days off to rest his leg and to really spend time with his son, but he refused to.
You look up from your emotionless stare out the window, which showed the sea in the distance. The ocean was so different here compared to what itâs like in Corellia. There are sandy beaches and the waterâs warm, whereas back home, itâs often frozen over, and is lined with rocky fjords and coves. You wanted to go down to one of those beaches soon if you could. They looked relaxing and much more intruiging than a wordy meeting that you stopped listening in on Lord knows when.
âSorry, I just⌠zoned out for a minute.â You clear your throat, looking up at the ginger above you. You bat your eyelashes, trying do play off innocent and truthful. She shrugged, and turned around to pull something out of Koskaâs hands.
âI was saying that now that we have the food and decor arranged for the ball, we can talk about the important things.â She says as she whips around for the big reveal that you werenât expecting: iher arms was the most extravagant, fluffy gown you had ever seen. It was a soft rose gold, the skirt was huge and round, tulle pillowing out from the bodice which had clearly been hand-beaded by nimble fingers to have five-pedaled flowers with curly vines growing out of them. There was a soft sweet-heart neckline, the lace and beading of the bodice came up past the structure to overlap where your skin would be, The sleeves were off the shoulder, which was common for Mandalorian summer gowns. The skirt had a soft hint of sparkles and real diamonds had been sewn into the centers of each flower along the gown.
You perked up as you saw the ornament, your attention being drawn from the crashing waves of the ocean to the prettiest dress you had ever seen. You think you sighed, but you werenât really sure. Dresses have always been a part of your life, designers from all over the world would send you their best sets, and itâs rare for you to wear the same gown more than once. This isnât the first time you had been presented with a dress that costed more than some of the houses in the kingdom, but there was something different about it. It had a special glow to it, unlike anything you had ever seen.
âHer Radiance Ahsoka brought it, itâs a wedding gift from the Woodland elves.â Koska speaks up when she sees your reaction. Both her and the Queen were amused at your childlike awe. âThatâs why it has that shimmer, they used silk spinners and gold.â
âI⌠I canât accept this.â You wanted to, but you were desperately trying to be humble and calm in this situation. The dresses never meant that much to you, itâs just a piece of clothing. You have always been far more into the politics that came with royalty, not the fashion, so this was a first.
âWell of course you can.â The queen chuckled, âIt would be rude not to.â You wished you could tell her that wearing such an extravagance would feel in vain because you did not feel affection towards the person youâll be wearing it for. However, you supposed she was right, it would be rude to turn down a gift from the literal elves. You stand up from where you sat, walking over the dress that took your breath away. You wondered what the Knight thought of it, and you turn around to look at him. You know that he wouldnât show any type of reaction over this thing, especially if the Queen is watching, but you wanted to show him that you were thinking of him. You smiled, raising your eyebrows to really show how beautiful you thought the gown was, youâll get to talk about it with him later. This is the second time Koska seeâs something like this between the two of you, and she first looks at you, and the knight, raising a sharp eyebrow.
You place your hand over the fabric, running your palm over it. You did nothing to deserve this, but you were honored that itâs yours. âItâs like a faerieâs dress.â You sigh. âItâs wonderful, when can I thank her Radiance?â
âSheâs out and about, she usually meditates in the gardens on sunny days, I can retrieve her, if youâd like.â Koska speaks up.
âOh thatâs alright, Iâll find her eventually.â You smile.
âInteresting that you brought up the faeâŚâ The Queen brings up, âAllow me to ask, it is your engagement ball, is there anything specific you would like to have incorporated?â A few days ago, you would have had no answer, because a few days ago there was nothing about Mandalore worth it to you. However, things have changed. Youâve spent sleepless nights thinking about the boy in the beskar armor, and you would give anything to dance with him at that ball. You knew damn well that if you asked nicely, and maybe gave him head in return, he would do almost anything you asked. He would happily dance with you alone in the room after the events of the night, although you werenât even sure if he knew how to dance. You did want to waltz with him, but not in that way.
So, last night you stayed up late, laying on your back with the balcony doors just cracked open to let in the smell fo fresh rain and a cool breeze into the hot room, thinking about him. You especially thought about the soft skin of his thighs and the way he shuddered when you raked your fingernails down his abdomen. But you also thought about how you could dance with him at the ball, where everyone could see. You knew that you would be dancing with far more people than Korkie, it would be many peopleâs last (and only) chance to dance with you before youâre married, and so youâre expected to give everyone the opportunity and attention they desired. It wasnât your favorite thing youâd have to do, especially considering you would be dancing with a number of complete strangers and total creeps of Viziers, Grand Dukes and old viscounts who would probably whisper dirty things in your ear. And that is part of why you wanted this one thing for yourself so badly.
Dancing with a mysterious stranger wouldnât be a problem. You wanted to share your affection towards him, and you especially wanted him to see you in your true element of balls and parties and gowns and tiaras. You knew it was risky, especially considering you can hardly control yourself around him, who knows what the crowd may be whispering as you dreamily look up at him. But after having to move and change your entire life, marry a man you resent in a kingdom that goes against everything youâve ever believed in, you owe yourself this one thing. Just this one.
However, dancing with a literal knight would be far too suspicious and obnoxious for the biggest event in the western part of the world. And you knew that he would never remove his helmet, even if his life depended on it. It would be no easy feat to convince him to do something like that in such little time, but thatâs when you got the best idea to have possibly ever cross your mind.
When you were just a little girl, your nursery caretaker would sit you on her lap when you had droopy, tired eyes, and read you a story. You canât remember what it was called, itâs been so long since you heard it, but it was your favorite. It was the tale of the masquerade ball where the young peasant girl fell in love with the handsome magician. You were always drawn into it, because you once hoped you would fall in love with a mysterious and handsome man, too.The point of the story was that she never saw his face, as they both had on extravagant swan masks covering their eyes. If everyone had their face covered, it wouldnât look suspicious if he did, too. You knew it would be a big thing to ask, and he may not even agree to it if the Queen approves of the short-noticed theme, but you wanted to live at least one night as the young peasant girl.
âYes, actually.â You began to reply, âI would love for my engagement ball to be a masquerade.â You made sure to add in the âmyâ to reinstate that it is for you. The Queen stopped to consider what you asked, and Koska looked suprised. Itâs rare for anyone to ask the Queen for something like that out flat. But, she was the one who brought it up.
The Queen made you wait in suspense for her answer, and every fiber of your being wanted to turn around and wink at the knight to let him know that you asked for him, but even you, the naive princess, knew that you needed to be more careful with sharing your memories with him when others are around. âI suppose we could arrange that.â She thinks out loud, and you canât stop the smile that stretches across your face. The Queen really only agreed because she knew it would cause more buzz and conversation around her last event as Queen. Even you could see that, but if it meant you would get a chance to share the memory with your guard, it was worth it.
âYour Majesty, forgive me, but the ball is this weekend, I fear we will not have enough time to prepare for such a change in plansâŚâ Koska spoke up.
âWell, not if we donât have everyone in the palace working double time,â Both yours and Koskaâs faces dropped, that is not what you wanted at all. âEvery servant will be required to make ten masks before the ball on Saturday. Knights are exempt, obviously.â She placed the rose gold dress back in Koskaâs arms. You immediately felt guilty.
âOh that wonât be necessary, Your Majesty, I donât want everyone to-â
âOh nonsense,â She interrupted, âI love the masquerade idea, it will be grand. It will be the envy of Coruscant.â Was everything a battle for her? An endless contest of whoâs the best between Mandalore and Coruscant? If everyone had extra work to do on top of their usual load, you would feel absolutely terrible, but there would be no changing the Queenâs mind. âAs the head of the servants, you will oversee the masks, Lady Reeves.â Your face was in shock, pale and sick. Koska shot you an annoyed glare. You tried to respond with an apologetic smile, but the Queen was speaking up again, pacing as she spoke. âOf course we need the royals to stand out from everyone else, weâll already have our gowns but the masks will make a difference tooâŚâ She thought out loud. âKoska I would like an owl mask as per usual, there will be gems incorporated as well I trust?â
âYes, your Majesty.â She was not amused with her new task.
âAs for our little Princess,â She was referring to you, but you couldnât even listen out of guilt. Everything you tried in Mandalore somehow backfired on you. âHer dress is lovely, but her mask must also be the most extravagant in the room, after mine, of course. It would also be best if hers and my nephewâs matched, Yes?â Koska nodded, struggling to hold the heavy dress with her small stature. âLovely, arenât you just full of surprises, Your Highness?â The Queen smiled at you, and you forced a polite smile. âNow, excuse me, I have a designer to meet with to get as many feathers and adornments for masks as possible.â The redhead hastily exits the room, her high guard following her, leaving just you and Koska with your knight.
âWhat the fuck was that about?â Koska asked afterwards.
âI didnât mean for any of the extra work to happen, I swear.â You defensively respond.
âYou just love giving me a hard time, donât you?â She asks.
âNo- that not at all what-â
âLet her be, Koska.â Your knight steps into the conversation.
âUgh you knights are so frustrating sometimes.â She rolls her eyes. âI mean, what is going on with you two?â She asks and your heart drops to your ass. Was it that obvious there was something more there? Your knight tensed up, too. âYeah, I can see exactly whatâs going on here. Would either of you like to explain?â She asks.
The two of you stood awkwardly like children who got caught stealing sweets from the kitchen. You wondered how you were going to get out of this one. Your entire world could come crashing down right now if you didnât play this out correctly, and a thousand outcomes of this situation simultaneously played out in your head. Would she rat you out? Would it lead to your knights expulsion? Or would she keep it to herself? She seemed to have a history with your knight, although you didnât know what that might be. Maybe she would be on your side, but you highly doubted it.
You blame yourself for all of this. You should have put a stop to all of this long ago, but you couldnât bring yourself to. He has you tied around your finger, and you like it. You wondered what was going on through his mind, was he as nervous as you? He had to be, if not more worried about what would happen. Someone knowing about your secret relationship would only lead to you getting a tap on your knuckles and then they would try to hide it from society to keep your reputation clean, but it would be the end of his career and safety for him. You were selfish for this, and you knew it.
âWhat?â Is all your stupid mouth says. As if you hadnât just had the most sporadic and stressful thought process of your entire life. After all that, the only thing you were able to come up with was âwhat?â. You thought your body might be shaking, but you werenât totally sure. You wanted to look at the knight by your side, but you couldnât bring yourself to do it. Koska must have thought the same thing as you because after you just responded with an arrogant rhetorical question, her eyebrows raised like a mother angry with her teenage son. She scoffs, and walks to the other side of the parlor to place the gown down on a sofa. When her back was turned to you, you were somehow able to muster up the courage to look at the beskar-clad figure to your left. He didnât look any different than, well, ever. Tall and broad and stoically looking ahead as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening. But you knew better. He had to have had a similar thought process to your own. He never turned to look back at you, and thatâs when the guilt really set in. This could have been prevented. It should have been prevented. You fiddle with your sleeve.
Koska comes back too soon, her arms folded over her chest and the same unamused look on her stupidly perfect face. âSo, one of you better start talking now, or else Iâm going to get impatient and go catch up with the Queen to do your chore.â She nods to you. Why was she doing this? What did she gain out of knowing any of this? It could be to protect Korkie, although you found that seriously hard to believe. From what you can tell, Koska could care less about the Mandalorian Prince.
You sigh out of embarrassment mostly, but know that you are the one who needs to speak up. This was your mistake, and so it was your responsibility to fix it. âThis is all my fault,â You have to clear your throat after beginning because of how uncomfortably your words sit in your throat. âI take full responsibility for everything. Donât blame him for anything.â You nod. He turns his head to look at you after you say this, and you wanted nothing more than to look back at him, but Koska had your gaze trapped.
âAnd what exactly do you mean by âeverythingâ and âanythingâ?â The lady-in-waiting asks.
You sigh again, knowing this was going to be hard to say. âI...allowed myself to beâŚâ You carefully considered your word choice, âi-infatuated with the wrong man.â You finally get out. That was the first time you had said it in front of him, and only the second time you had said it outloud ever, the first being to the Elven Queen last week. âI shouldnât have let it get so out of hand, but I fell under the spell of this Knight, and I donât even know his name. Iâve never seen his face. In many ways, heâs a complete stranger to me.â You debated saying the next thing, but it just kind of spilled out, âA stranger whoâs plagued my thoughts and actions since the day I got here.â It was hard for you to say, but there was something so liberating about saying it.
He never took his eyes off of you the entire time you spoke, but this time you were able to look back at him. Your eyes first looking down at the floor guiltily, and then they slowly make their way up his armor and to the visor on his helmet. You just looked there for a little bit while Koska processed what you were saying. You smiled genuinely at the knight, desperately trying to show him that everything you just said was true. For a moment, you werenât sure if she was going to say anything at all, and the room fell silent.
âWellâŚâ She begins, you canât hear any disappointment in her tone yet, âYouâre terrible at hiding it.â She sighs. Of all the things she could have said, you did not expect that.
âWhat?â You say like an absolute idiot for the second time. You look back at the woman.
âLook, Iâve known him for a long time.â She shakily breathes, looking at him, âWeâve actually been through a lot together.â He was still looking at you, âAnd honestly, Neither of us were ever cut out for the Royal life weâve been living for a while now.â You wondered what she meant by that. âAnd to be frank, I could care less about your personal life.â She said to you about you, âBut since heâs a friend, and you really donât mean very much to me, no offense,â
âNone taken.â
âI suppose Iâll just keep it to myself-â
The relief that overcame your body was unmatched. You canât stop the grin that goes from ear to ear or the sigh of relief that danced on your lips and out of your lungs. You look over at him, who still hasnât looked away from your face, but he sighs of relief, too. You see it in the way his armor shifts.
â-Under one condition.â
âOkayâŚâ
âYou have to start hiding it better, no more over the shoulder glances. Okay? This is me looking out for him.â She gestures to him with a nod. Was she really going to do this for you?
âNo more glances, got it.â You repeat.
âThereâs no telling what might happen to him if the wrong person finds out.â She clears her throat, and that statement scares you. You try not to let it take up too much of your thought. âAnd you have to act like nothing is different. Youâre still engaged to the Prince and youâre still the future Queen-consort. I donât give a damn about what happens behind closed doors, but when others are around you have to behave yourselves. This is me looking out for my kingdom, understood?â
âUnderstood.â You nod back, although you werenât the biggest fan of that condition, you knew that was the price you had to pay to get what you wanted⌠well at least what you think you wanted. âYouâre not going to tell the Queen?â
âIf you do those things, she wonât hear a word about it.â Koska shrugs.
âAnd what about Korkie?â
âStars, I cannot stand that boy. I donât even talk to him.â She rolls her eyes and you chuckle. Youâre happy you arenât the only one who feels that way about the prince. âBut Iâm not going to cover or lie for you two, Iâm not going to help you hide it or anything. Alright?â
âOf course.â You reply.
âGreat. I have over five-hundered masks to make by Saturday, so Iâll be leaving now.â She finished and on her way out, she pushes the knight on the shoulder playfully.
The door closes.
âStars.â You clear your throat and turn to look at him, before you can say anything, though, heâs picking you up by the waist, throwing you over his shoulder like a sack of weightless flour, and carrying you over to the second sofa that isnât taken up by a ridiculously large dress. You giggle when he does, blushing at his enthusiasm. Youâre placed on your back and he kneels between your legs.
âYouâre excited.â You chuckle and he hums in response. There isnât very much room on the sofa but he makes his place. He then grabs the hem of your dress, pulling it up over first your thighs, then up past your hips, over the corset and up to your face. He covers your eyes with the skirt and it hides the cheesiest smile on your face. light still poured in from the fabric, but you werenât able to see anything.
You then heard the sound of metal being placed on the floor next to you, and to your pleasant surprise, his lips and pressed tightly to yours through the fabric. The kiss obviously doesnât make any contact, but youâve learned that with the knight, itâs the thought that always counts. Youâre smiling into the kiss like a dork, and you shudder when you feel his bare hands against your bare thighs. He pulls your legs open, and then pulls away from your separated kiss.
Your first moan comes when you feel his lips against your soft thighs. He licks up and down your right thigh first, his fingertips strong and faithful against the outer part of your legs. Your breathing hitches, and you hum with pleasure when he moves to your left thigh, taking the same amount of time to kiss, nibble and suck on your pillowy skin.
Then, before you can think any more about the heat and want in between your legs, heâs pulling down your petticoat painfully slow. You bite your lip, you knew where he was headed with this, and you were more than happy to welcome it. His index and middle finger run soft lines around your cunt, massaging the swollen and wet skin around your opening that only got wetter. Your clit begged for attention, but your arms were trapped under the position of the dress skirt, and you didnât want to risk adjusting it in a way that would make him stop. You would have to patiently wait as he teased and prodded your lips, his free hand rubbing your thigh and occasionally making its way to firmly squeeze your ass cheek. Your breathing was needy and short as he took his time to get to know your core with the tips of his fingers, which were now wet and slick and making the friction smoother.
He then gently places a light kiss on your clit. Itâs so soft that youâre only able to feel it because of how sensitive and hungry you are for that type of contact. You slightly finch when his lips touch the nerve, and youâre able to feel him smile against your skin. What you would give to see his face right nowâŚ. Then, before you can think any more, heâs licking a flat stripe up from the bottom of your cunt up to your clit where he flicks three times with the tip of his tongue. You gasp at the sensation, and try to suppress a moan. He then take his time to lick each separate lip of your sex, avoiding your actual opening but teasing in such an addictive way that you were willing to be patient for him.
The knight then finally wraps his lips around your clit and sucks, pulsing with his lips and flicking back and forth quickly with the tip of his tongue. You do moan this time, a broken cry falling off of your needy lips. It was a euphoric feeling unlike anything youâve experienced before and you loved every moment of it. His arms wrap around your upper thighs, holding you in place around his head as he moves down to lap at your pussy lips. He moans at the taste of you, diving his tongue into your folds and prodding your sensitive clit with his nose.
You whine short and quietly as he does, biting your lip and bucking your hips every now and then as he took care of your sex. He must have gone down on you for close to ten minutes straight, never coming up for fresh air and never stopping the steady pace he had. You arenât sure how you didnât cum immediately at the feeling of his plump lips against your clit, but you also arenât sure how you didnât blackout from the sheer pleasure of the feeling. It was addictive, and it only got better after he pulled away to spit on your cunt. He spits onto your folds and then brings his fingers up again to start fingering you, sliding in his pointer finger with no resistance and slowly pumping it in and out. His mouth finds its way back to your slit, sucking on it as he fingers you. The sound was filthy, it filled the parlor with wet, obscene noises accompanied by breathy moans and gentle hums. Every time he hummed against your clit, your back arched from the added pleasure. The vibrating of it was pure euphoric, and you knew you were a sopping mess in between your thighs.
His chin was wet from spit and arousal and for one quick moment he pulled his wet mouth away from your core to kiss and rub the juices of your cunt on your thighs. He nibbles a few times on either thigh, marking each with a litter of purple and red hickeys. Before adding a second finger, he pulls his hand out to gently and playfully slap your cunt. He uses his wet hand to tap your core five or six times, each tap getting harder. You moan out at the feeling, and squeeze your legs together against the feeling in a horny attempt to get more pleasure from the moment.
âHuh, would you look at that?â He asks, his voice low and hungry and full of lust. Itâs the first thing heâs said in a while, and the indulgence of the oral sex cause you to nearly forget how much you loved his rough voice. âDo you like it when I slap your cunt?â You whine in response. âWith your words, Princess.â
âYes, Sir.â You whine like a bitch. He chuckles and slaps it again, harder this time. You shudder at the feeling and feel your climax coming on. You want to delay it for as long as possible, but your thighs start to shake when he puts his mouth back in you and pushed both his index and middle finger into your opening, pumping and curling and twisting his wrist to make the most wonderful combination of finger-fucking you could of have imagined.
âIâm gonna cum.â You barely get out before your spine is burning and your stomach is flexing as you cum hard and long against his tongue and on his fingers. You cry out in broken, heavenly bliss, and look for something to grasp onto as you hit your high, but you canât find anything, which leads to your sporadic back arches. Youâre panting, and he doesnât stop kissing against your core while you cum on his tongue. You bite your lip and swear you might make it bleed a little. His grip on your thighs tightens while he pulls you against his mouth, preventing you from pulling away from the addictive exhilaration that is his kiss.
He licks you through the entire orgasm, and then some after. You think youâre being over-stimulated but you never have been before, so you arenât really sure. Just when you think heâs going to stop, he doesnât and he just takes his sweet old time lapping against your core and slowly pumping his fingers in and out of you. You sharply breath in, your chest heaving against the dress and you desperately want to pull your dress down to see him and breath freshly again. The way he eats you out is so methodical, like heâs done it a thousand times (which wouldnât necessarily surprise you), like itâs the only thing heâs ever eaten or the sweetest honey to ever grace his lips.
It begins to turn you on again, the pleasure shooting into your spine and down your littered thighs and melting against your clit. You can feel the gentle rub of his fingers against your thighs, stroking your skin as he takes you in. Itâs heavenly and is the only thing you can think about. Your thoughts go numb and the only important thing in the entire world is the curly-haired boy at your expense.
You mutter and whisper swears, dirty words that arenât meant to come out of a princessâ mouth but you canât help it when youâre seeing white hot behind your eyes. He groans a few times too before his fingers speed back up to the pace they were at before you came the first time. Your dainty hands stroke lightly on your collar-bones as the pleasure fills your soul, licking your lips and trying to hold on for as long as possible before you cum again but you can already feel your second orgasm coming on. He uses a third finger to outline your lips, coating the tip in your slick and then slowly inserting the third and final finger into your cunt, helping you chase that final hit of release. The stretch is amazing, and you were surprised you were able to take it so well. This is when you realized that heâs been training you for something much bigger. The first time he fingered you wasnât even any penetration, the second time was two fingers, just enough to stretch you that it hurt the right amount, and now this time, three fingers that felt amazing. You remembered the size of his cock, you knew it would be a challenge to take, but he was making sure you would be able to handle it and enjoy it as much as he will.
His focus goes from licking your clit to the fingers inside. He twists his wrist to make the curl and stretch your entrance. He collects the wetness and lets it make the glide and pump smoother. Youâre so drenched and needy that the fluid is running out past his fingers and dripping onto the sofa cushion, staining it with your lust. He nips so slightly at your clit and just like that, your whole world comes crashing down. The orgasm is actually mind-numbing this time, and all you can do is moan and sob and claw at your own skin. Your scratch into your shoulders and collar-bone and itâs deliciously painful. Your thighs clamp against his head and he continues to finger you long and hard through the climax, cleaning your folds up as you cum against his tongue and fingers. Youâre finally able to catch your breath, painting with droopy, lustful eyes but feeling completely fulfilled. He cleans up all the juices around your entrance, collecting the cum on his tongue and happily swallowing it down like itâs his last meal. You arenât able to see it, but he then puts his fingers into his mouth, cleaning off the three that were knuckle-deep into your cunt. He groans at the taste, and wipes his mouth before planting one last, gentle kiss to the soft, angelic skin of the mound between your legs. You're so sensitive that the light kiss makes you flinch, and he chuckles at the involuntary reaction.
He puts his helmet back on and then pulls your dress skirt down to see your face. Youâre surprised by the light initially, and you blink a few times to adjust to it. Your lungs fill with crisp air and you look at your favorite sight: the helm of the knight you think youâre falling in love with. You canât stop the smile on your face. He chuckles and then readjusts your dress to cover you up better. He takes such good care of you. You see him freeze when he sees the scratch marks on your skin, and his bare hand softly runs over the red lines, outlining the marks. You blush at him, looking up at his expressionless face with a puppy-love look.
âEverytime I think it canât get any better, you prove me wrong.â You sigh. Every orgasm has been better than the last.
âJust you wait.â You hear the smirk under the helmet and it causes butterflies to flutter in your tummy. You sigh, still catching your breath and you just take him in, looking up at how heâs propped up above you. He has hands on either side of your head and heâs just a brudding force of metal and sex and good kissing and caring about things that you didnât even know you needed someone to care about. You probably look like a dork just smiling up at him but you donât even care and now your hands are free to wrap around his neck and you just wish you could see his face and kiss it all over right now.
Your fingers lock behind his neck and the positioning of his armor and the way his head is bent makes it so you can just barely feel the skin of his neck. You move your index fingers up to look for the curls at the nape of his neck. You think you could sing out when you found the prize: some strands of dark, brown, thick hair hidden under the helmet. You twirl them around your fingers and that action alone is worth a million kisses. The feeling in your heart is second to none and you wished you could stay in this still moment forever.
âDid you mean what you said?â He speaks up in reference to what you told Koska about him.
âEvery word of it.â You state, genuinely meaning it as you said it. He did respond but something told you he was smiling under all that armor. He sighs, and then lets his arms go weak so heâs falling onto you. You groan at the surprise and the sheer weight of both his broad body and the heavy armor on top. The air is pushed out of your lungs but at least heâs pressed into you, your hands still toying with his curly hair. You can hear him chuckle, and you wanted to freeze time.
âSomeoneâs gonna see us if we stay like this.â He mutters as you tilt your head to have it rest on top of his helmet.
âThen let them.â
He doesnât reply to what you say, and you debate if it was even the right thing to say. When youâve gotten everything youâve ever wanted, itâs hard to grasp the concept that someone may not want the same thing. Youâre selfish for not caring about his safety and status in these types of situations. He grunts as he pushes himself back up and stands again, leaving only you on the sofa.
âHowâs the arm?â
âItâs fine.â You roll your eyes, you donât want everyone to worry so much anymore.
âAre you sure?â
âYes.â You reply more forcefully this time, sitting up on the couch.
âJust making sure.â
âYeah, yeahâŚâ You sigh, and consider your next words, âI was wondering if I could ask you something.â You sit with your palms flat against the cushion, making aware of the wet spot on the fabric and smirking fondly at it.
âAnything, your Highness.â He nods.
âWell⌠I wondered if maybe I could teach you how to dance?â You were nervous about what his response may be.
âOh Stars-â He chuckles.
âWhat!?â
âI had a feeling that masquerade might have something to do with me.â He puts his hands on his hips like heâs scolding you but thereâs a guilty part of you that you like about it.
âWell it isnât just about you.â
âAre you sure about that?â
â...no.â He already knew you so well. He chuckles at your response. âSo⌠whatâs your answer?â
âDancing isn't my styleâŚâ
âI donât believe that.â You tilt your head. âCome on, itâs super easy and it would mean a lot to me.â You try convincing. He sighs and considers what youâre offering. âI can give you something in returnâŚâ You bite your lip, teasing. He chuckles just once.
âAlright-â
âWhat!? Really??â You stand up from excitement, you werenât really expecting him to agree.
âBut, only if you let me teach you something in return.â You nod in agreement, your hands coming to fold in your lap. You were expecting him to refer to something sexual, but his words prove you wrong, âI wanna teach you how to fight.â
âWhat?â Why would you ever need that?â Itâs rare for royals to learn such a skill, especially princesses. You understood that it would be valuable, but you werenât completely sure if you were up to the task.
âWell more than anything, I want to teach you how to defend yourself. So something like Keldabe doesnât happen again.â
âOkayâŚâ You were tentative to agree.
âAre you sure?â
âYeah.â You shrug, âIf it means I get to dance with you at the ball, I would be more than happy to learn.â
âGreat. Letâs start then.â He takes a step back and holds his hand out for you to take.
âWhat?â You place your palm in his and he pulls you up off the couch, âright now?â
âYes, câmere.â You were nervous and honestly your legs were still weak from cumming twice, but you follow him as he begins to talk. âIâll just teach you a few things and then you can teach me how to dance I guess.â
âStop being a pill.â You tease.
âOnly if you stop, too.â He teases right back at you which leads to a scoff from your lips. He ignores you. âWhen you're defending yourself, you always wanna protect your face, okay?â
âProtect my face, got it.â You repeat. He holds his arms up in front of his helmet, his hands fisted.
âMimic my pose.â You roll your eyes but mirror him, holding your arms to guard your face. âSee, is that so hard?â
âShut up.â
âYes maâam.â He sarcastically replies. âYou canât do much if you canât see, so thatâs why you gotta protect your face. If you wore a helmet you wouldnât need to do this.â
âBut I would always be wearing a helmetâŚâ
âItâs not so bad.â He shrugs.
âSomething tells me that you donât believe that.â You drop your arms from your face to say that, which was obviously a mistake, because instead of responding to your claim (which was probably right), he's jabbing his arm out towards your face. Heâs not close enough to hit you but the quick and unexpected action is enough to startle you back. You lose your balance and fall down on the ground, wincing when you hit the ground and regretting agreeing to this. Your arms wrap into a frustrated position and you frown up at him. You look up at him surprised and a little pissed, and he just starts laughing. âWhat was that?â
âYou let your guard down.â He says between laughs. He does hold his hand out for you to help you back up, and you take it to your own dismay. He hoists you up quickly, and you have to re-establish your balance.
âYou are impossible.â You put your arms back over your face, ready to try again.
âYou like it.â
âAre you gonna teach me or not?â He wasn't wrong but you figured youâd have to try and beat him at his own game.
âAre you gonna let me?â
âJust go.â You roll your eyes again.
âThis will also protect your ribs. Canât do much if the wind is knocked out of you, either.â He explains. âYou also want to stand wide, itâll help you keep your balance.â He kicks your feet out to be shoulder width which breaks every rule in the book of princess manners. âAnd prevent⌠falling on the floor.â
âThis isnât exactly easy to do in a corset, you know.â You argue.
âAnd dancing wonât be easy in armor but here we are.â He shrugs, and you suppose heâs right. Neither of you are cut out for the tasks at hand. âWhen fighting someone without armor, youâre gonna want to go for their face, their eyes are vulnerable and you can do real damage on their nose.â
âOkayâŚ.â You try to remember what he was saying, making a mental note for any future situations, although youâre still skeptical. âAnd what about someone with armor on?â You ask, trying not to show the smirk on your face.
âWell the guy in Keldabe did everything right, he found where the weak points of my armor was and attacked them-â
âSo here?â You ask before reeling back your arm and swinging it as hard as you can into his shoulder where there was only chain mail. Your fist crashes into the metal, and you immediately regret it. âShit!â You pull your hand back and look at your bright red knuckles, shaking your hand a few times as you try to brush the shock away.
â...Yeah, right there.â On the bright side, he seemed to be surprised by it enough that he made a little groan from the contact that turned you on way more than it should have. âBut now you fucked up your hand.â
âYou think?â You place the angry knuckles at your mouth, trying not to be too upset about the pain shooting through your hand.
âPunching chainmail is always gonna hurt, especially if you do it wrong⌠like that.â
âSo how do I do it right!?â Youâre determined now. No one has ever put you in your place, youâve always gotten what you wanted, and you wanted to prove to him that you could do it.
âWhy are you so eager to inflict pain on me?â He asks, you can hear the teasing in his tone but you canât blame him for feeling that way. Perhaps you did come off a little anxious.
âI donât know⌠I guess I just want to prove something to you.â You sigh, still pissed off by the pain in your hand. Youâre so distracted by it that you hardly notice him walking towards you. His gentle and soft bare hands take your fist away from your mouth. Youâre tentative at first, but let him take it in his hand, cupping it in between his and looking down at your red skin. You frown mostly out of frustration, but the pain is unlike anything youâve experienced before. Princesses arenât supposed to feel pain.
Before you can blink, he pulls his top hand away and takes it to lift up his helmet just above his lips. The angle makes it so you canât see any of his face but you understand. He bends down and kisses your knuckles in the same fashion one would when greeting you, but this was so much more intimate. His lips were like satin against your skin and the butterflies in your stomach fly right back. The physical pain didnât go away, but the anger around it did. Your heart softened and wished he would kiss your lips but heâs already pulling the beskar back over his jaw. You sigh from the gesture, he was so romantic and you donât even think heâs trying to be. Heâs just trying to be kind and patient with you and itâs doing something to your heart that you donât know if you can handle anymore.
âSo⌠how do you waltz?â He asks, his hand still holding onto yours. You smile and sheepishly look down at your feet. You were unsure of how to begin, but were happy he was willing to learn.
âOkay.â You smile, âWell, you first need to loosen up. Stop being so stiff.â He tilts his head like youâre speaking a foreign language. âLike this.â You press your hands down on his shoulder pauldrons, he tries to rest them but fails and you chuckle just a little. âRoll them back.â You explain and do it yourself, he attempts to follow, and actually is able to relax a little bit more this time. Knights are always so stiff, you think it will be good for him to relax every now and then. âGood, now this hand goes hereâŚâ You lift his right hand to rest on your waist and he immediately settles into it, already feeling more comfortable now that he is holding you. You place your left hand on his shoulder, pulling your bodies a little closer together. He wanted your torsos to be flush against one another, âNo, we have to keep our distance so we have room to do the steps.â You explain.
âWell thatâs no fun.â He sighs. You blush and giggle.
âIf we get this done I promise you can hold me as long as you want.â You tilt your head trying to make a fair compromise.
âFine.â Heâll take it.
âGreat, now we hold these hands.â You take his left hand and hold it into yours. âThatâs the basic position, I learned it as home position, got it?â
âHome positionâŚ?â He repeats.
âMhm.â You nod, your faces are close and you would give anything to feel his breath against yours. âItâs important that we sort of⌠âglideâ like we bounce as we dance, it will make it prettier.â He was convinced you were always pretty no matter what you tried or did, but we guessed he would comply this time. Your voice goes quiet and soft, the mood immediately changing from teasing to harmonious. âAnd your feet⌠okay this is sort of complicated but your left foot will go forward as my right goes back-â You keep looking down at the floor as you try to explain the steps but his gaze is on your face, hardly listening to what you're saying and only being engulfed in your face and the way you talked about doing something you loved. You were so beautiful and you didnât even know it.
You must have been talking for a while without really listening to yourself because he was slowly pulling you into his torso and closing the space without you really noticing that you were inches closer than you were before. â-and then your left foot will slide to meet your right foot-â the last word fades out as you slowly look back up to his face which was now up close to yours, your bodies pressed together and both of his hands on your hips, his thumb rubbing soft circles into your back. Your heart skips a beat and you forget how to breathe as you look up at him and it just felt⌠right.
Your hands lift from his pauldron to his helmet and you want to take it off so badly. You knew it was too fast still, and he would remove his helmet for you when he felt like he could. At least thatâs what you hoped for. It should be his decision, no one elseâs. But your hands are grazing the bottom of the beskar and everything feels so right. Heâs so still and his breath is quiet and for just a moment you think he might let you and then-
The door knob is turning slowly and both of you are splitting away all too fast, trying to make enough space between the two of you so it didnât look suspicious. You both scramble, trying to put yourselves back together. The still and perfect moment was entirely gone when Prince Korkie opened up the door into the parlor. You tried not to look too shocked when his stupid perfect hair and young face looked on you. The knight held his hands behind his back to hide the fact that they were bare and side-eyed the gloves on the sofa that laid by the wet stain on the cushion. He silently prayed that the Prince wouldnât notice them.
âAh, princess I was wondering where you were.â He looked between the two of you. He didnât seem too suspicious, thank the stars.
âKorkie! What are you doing?â You awkwardly laugh. Your hands fold at waist level, and you fix your posture.
âDid⌠I walk in on something?â He asks and your whole body goes numb. You swallow and try not to pass out. The truth is yes, he did walk in on something very important to you, but here we are.
âOh! No, we were justâŚâ You search around the room looking for something to take the attention away from you and the knight, âAdmiring the beautiful dress the Elves gave me!â You walk to the heavy, iridescent gown on the clean sofa, picking it up to show him. You smile desperately, hoping that would be enough.
âAh yes! It is beautiful, isnât it?â He nods, smiling. You sigh of relief when he falls for the bait. You set the dress back down.
âCan I do anything for you?â You ask,a king sure there was no attention on the knight being you.
âI⌠just wanted to spend a bit of time with you. My aunt informed me of the changes to the Ball. What a wonderful idea!â
âWhy thank you.â You smile, taking a few steps towards him in a hopeless attempt to not seem so suspicious.
âYes! I had just received the RSVPS from a number of the guests. Your parents, the twins of Naboo, the senator of Alderaan and Princess of Chandrila and Iâm pleased to say that weâve found no suspicion of any attack from Coruscant!â Stars, he talks a lot. You arenât sure how he can have any more breath to talk. You were starting to decide that you liked the boys who were more reserved.
Well⌠one boy.
âOh⌠Um, of course. Thatâs great news.â You nod and finish your walk towards him, suddenly hyper-aware of the fading scratches on your collar bone.
âCome with me, we should review the letters together.â You look back at the knight apologetically before walking into the hallway with the Prince. This isnât exactly how you hoped your afternoon would go...

THERAPY SESSION 001. [01/05]
Summary; This five-part self-para, with writing from other players included, will take you on an internal and verbal journey of how Melissa Lin became to be who she is today, where she stands and how she plans to proceed.
ââMelissa, itâs been two weeks and youâve said nothing at all ---ââ Carla stated, sat across from her with crossed legs and what she could only deem as now judging eyes as if her patience was finally beginning to wear thin. It almost made Melissa smirk at the thought. Werenât therapists meant to be the masters of stoicism?
Carla was a short woman with shining brown hair that had not yet been dusted in speckles of grey, thirty something years of age didnât show in crowâs feet --- she was well presented; but her impatience grew, now showing every time she frowned. And yet, Melissa stared back with a look of disinterest, a light seemingly missing from her eyes. Was this a waste of their time? That sheâd agreed to take this on to please the hospital after her almost fatal shooting?
Was there anything to be said on the matter? In their line of work, they knew the risks. Every time they stepped out into the open, they were potentially walking out with a target on their back. But that never stopped them. There was too much to be done and always so much at stake.
So just like the previous two weeks, for one hour straight, she said nothing.
One week later.
Melissa had been staring up at the ceiling as Carla babbled on endlessly about how sheâd overcome this and that, different breathing techniques that had her rolling her eyes like an adolescent teenager every few minutes and the droning of a voice sheâd only allowed to become background noise to her own thoughts. This was painful, gritting her teeth as she thought this was the most tedious thing sheâd had to endure in her entirety of living; and sheâd met some people. It was like she finally just snapped, that wire pulling too tight until it all fell apart.
Just like that she spoke.
ââSleepingâs always hard for me. Ever since I was a girl.ââ Melissa had just wanted her to stop talking. The agitation was evident in her body language, bouncing her knee every so often, sinking further into the oversized armchair. Her usual rod straight posture dissipating before Carlaâs eyes.
It was almost like a revelation. Carla was scared to talk in case she interrupted the flow of the woman sheâd personally nicknamed the aphonic prowess.
But silence rang across the room.
ââSo---ââ
ââItâs probably because my mother held such a strict schedule. Up by sixâŚwithout fail---ââ Melissa scoffed, shaking her head, such a difference from the woman who usually was so tight lipped about her life before she met Johnathan. She kept that to herself, often making slight references but never delving deeper than was required. Did she miss her parents? She stilled. Her own internal questioning taking her by surprise, because when she came to think of it, she realised she didnât.
Melissa Lin had always been a strong-willed person, and the need to be looked after had never been something she was fond of. Much like her father. Whereas her mother had needed her, and her father. Had made it her entire life.
ââ--- She had no life, so she forced me to live beside her, every waking minute. To be prim, perfect, and honourable. But there is no honour in being someoneâs crutch.ââ The last sentence was spat out like a rattle snake and its venom. There was a resentment there, even though she hid this part of her life from those around her. She was a cold woman; she knew that about herself and had accepted that part of her had been her motherâs doing.
ââDo you think that maybe thatâs the reason you sometimes feel so powerless sometimes?ââ Carla asked, the question catching Melissa off guard. Instantly that small shred of herself sheâd opened up was closed. The igniting fire returned to the brown orbs that now swirled with vicious intent.
ââI am not powerless.ââ Melissaâs voice was sharp.
Carla knew sheâd messed up the instant the words left her mouth, but it didnât show on the therapistâs youthful face. Instead, she relaxed more into her chair, mirroring Melissa, raising her plucked brow towards the imperial woman. Maybe she didnât see the whole picture yet, but Carla had dealt with similar people in her years of doing this job. Had seen every type of person walk in and out of her door; and there had never been a challenge she hadnât faced head on.
Melissa might not have known it yet, but putting her job aside, the two women were more alike than even she knew yet. So, Carla smirked, causing her face to fall; it wasnât telling of the emotion that was running rampant inside, but it was enough to feel the challenge of the other woman.
ââYou arenât?ââ Carla asked, looking down as she scribbled in her notebook.
ââNo.ââ Melissa snapped, feeling that boiling temper rising up and through her body. She was riling her up, and even she knew she could push too far, make things go in a direction they shouldnât. But nothing was getting through to Melissa. Not one thing.
ââThen what? Because you talk of a hard up bringing, of a girl who was under such strict rules and standards that she felt caged. So much so that even to this day you still canât sleep. So, what is it right now that is causing that feeling to be so prominent in your adult life? Maybe youâre harbouring things so deep inside that even you arenât aware they are eating you alive.ââ
Melissa sat there. Staring. And staring. Lips parting slightly in an almost speechless kind of way. Sheâd never felt so called out. Well, except by Vidal and Johnathan. But that was a different story for another time.
ââIf I was so powerless, Iâd have never left my family behind.ââ Shrugging her shoulders, as if it was such a nonchalant thing to say. For her, it was. There were many people sheâd left behind in her life.
ââFor---ââ Carla looked down at her notes. ââ--- Johnathan? Right? You left to start a life with him.ââ
A flash flood of images flickered before her. Of back then, when smiling hadnât felt like such a task. When starting a new life had been something she so badly wanted. Melissa swallowed hard, giving a simple nod in response. Carla nodded in return, jotting something down, before placing the tip of the pen between her lips, humming lightly under her breath. ââWhy donât tell you tell me more about him?ââ Carla asks, not once looking up.
ââWhat is there to know? The man and I have been separated for some time now.ââ Melissa scrunched her nose, as if the conversation was null and void.
ââTrue, but you were also partners from a young age and saw a lot of grow and change.ââ
ââGrowth?ââ Melissa laughed, throwing her head back. She may have looked manic, but sheâd honestly found it funny, hand clamping over her mouth. ââI didnât realise you possessed a sense of humour Carla.ââ She hummed another laugh, before shaking her head, calming for a moment before she continued. ââThe only thing that grew was his resentment towards me. For wanting different things.ââ Zoe. For not wanting her, for him wanting what she knew she couldnât offer. And yet, heâd begged her and because of her love for him sheâd agreed. Thinking back, itâd been one of the lowest moments in her entire life. She knew she was meant to feel joy, and indescribable happiness. But instead, sheâd been filled with a void so deep that itâd taken something from her. A part of herself that sheâd never been able to get back.
ââWhat was it that he resented you for?ââ Carla looked up, furrowing her brows.
ââBy the time we were done. Everything.ââ Melissa diverting her gaze out of the window. Remembering happier days when things hadnât been so hard. When sheâd loved that harshness that came with loving such a brutal man. A man whoâd also loved those icy parts of her own imperfections. But now? It was like everyone was expecting her to become something that she could never be. Plainly, nice.
ââWhen do you think things changed for you, not him?ââ
Instantly her eyes snapped up, and the memory of that awful day came to mind
FLASH BACK â Funeral of Gideonâs mother
In a crowded room under the bleak nature of the event, Melissa still took to the centre of the room. It was an easier way to see what was happening around her, eyes of deep chocolate peaking at every passer-by, taking in their attire and solemn appearances. While a woman of the more upper-class world of Londonâs Westminster, she was used to events of high calibre, rubbing elbows with those of nobility and status; this, however, was more drib and drab. A sigh parted from her crimson painted lips, the champagne flute empty as she investigated the bottom of the glass and her perfectly manicured fingers were tapping slightly at the rim. The in-time beat keeping her sane from the mumbles of quiet conversations that were happening in clusters around the room. This was a snooze fest, but she had to remind herself it was a wake.
The reality was she felt crippling pain in her chest, cracking away slowly as if someone was chipping away at the stone of her heart. She fucking hated every second of this. But her face remained stoic and withdrawn, even if the red lining around her eyes indicated that sheâd shed tears. Because she had. Melissa did not have many friends, and yet, sheâd lost someone she cared for.
For a second her lip almost trembled, but she sucked it back jutting her chin out. Strong, she repeated to herself like a mantra.
A short while later, Melissa found herself perched near the mantel piece had allowed her the peace and quiet she desired, while she loved ravishing conversations, she knew it was very unlikely that this would happen here and rather than chase the need for a thrill, she kept herself away, in hopes that time would fast forward and take her to the much needed after party sheâd find in a place more set to her tastes and refinery, although fabulous here, the atmosphere was draining. She missed her already, although sheâd hardly ever say it out loud. Maybe even longed for a conversation she knew sheâd never get to have again. But the voice cut through her solace, like a sharp knife to delicate silk. Eyes snapping towards the man, whose voice she knew instantly.
It was Andrew Rutherford. Lifelong friend, and her boss.
Melissa mulled over him for a moment, a very intricate thought running through her mind of the meaning of a photograph that was on the mantel piece --- to be captured in time, a memory instilled on paper. It was a beautiful thing, how they could bring back feelings she had long forgotten.
A photo of her smiling before sheâd been nothing but a memory.
ââItâs a weird thought really---ââ She pointed to the picture. ââphotographâs.ââ Melissa interrupted, her voice a clear indication that she was trying to make conversation. ââIf you think about it, in one moment, we could have been a part of thousands of photographs, backgrounds that is...ââ She hummed, furrowed brows following, lips pursing for a moment. ââSome people may have even looked at us in the background that moment and wondered who we were --- how we lived.ââ Melissa was a soul who loved art, philosophy, literature and poetry and it was one think sheâd taken away from the education her parents had provided for her. On the other hand, she was a cold, hard-faced but her one redeeming quality would be that she was an enigma within herself, a beauty of words. She was a charmer, who spoke with eloquence that came from her time working under her old mentor, when politics was her daily living. But as she took a second more to look at Andrew, she noted his features, his facial expression, and inwardly sighed.
It was a shame, the absolute awfulness of this situation for them all. A lot was going to a change, and she wasnât sure whether that was a good thing or bad thing, she wasnât sure. She was adaptable, she knew that much but sheâd be lying if she said she didnât enjoy it a little.
ââSorry, Andrew --- I didnât mean too...Iâll leave you be.ââ
ââYou miss her.ââ He countered, his voice as solemn as the room they were stood in, she rolled her jaw letting her eyes fall to the floor beneath her shoes. There was no need to put on a front with Andrew, heâd known her for such a long time. But she still held back, a protection mechanism that even she hadnât fully worked out yet.
ââWonât we all?ââ She responded, voice soft and sad while eyes lingered on the photograph.
ââYes, we will.ââ Andrew reached forward to place a hand upon her shoulder, causing her to turn his gaze to him. Melissa didnât speak but instead just nodded her head as eyes became lined with silver. They both knew better than to let too much show, so he gave her a slight squeeze before letting go.
ââWhere is Johnathan?ââ Andrew continued, placing a hand at her lower back as he began to guide her towards the bar, her drink remained empty, and heâd noticed as such. Melissa simply shrugged her shoulders; she wasnât his watch dog. But she held the title well. The only woman whoâd ever really managed to get him to do what he was told. They both had their fair share of wearing the trousers in the relationship, but things recently had begun to fall into the category of rocky; and this loss hadnât helped at all.
ââHis duplicity is---ââ She pursed her lips ââEnthralling.ââ And Andrew knew better than to pry, so he simply nodded, taking his own turn to scan the room for his friend. It was no secret that the pair were as cutthroat as each other; while Johnathanâs was physical and Melissaâs more verbal. But in a battle against each other? It was all verbal, they all knew Johnathan would never touch her, and if someone touched her without his permission. Would be without hands to continue with. But was there a time when a battle they were fighting was a losing one?
She wondered.
Andrew simply nudged her, that look of kindness lingered amongst the sadness. ââHeâs around here somewhere, being Johnathan.ââ Melissa states, leaning into Andrew with a huff from her lips. There was an ease to being around Andrew that sheâd always felt, had never thought she had to be anything but herself around him; even now, in this daunting and crushing moment.Â
ââLife is fragile Melissa.ââ Andrew murmured, his face stoic in nature now.
ââOh, Iâm aware.ââ she paused ââAnd itâll take whatever it can from you.ââ
Sheâd lost her, and she knew she was close to losing her husband.
Present Day.
ââI canât picture one single moment where I knew we were over.ââ She lied, taking a moment to look up to meet Carlaâs lies, to which she pushed her glasses to the bridge of her nose to look at Melissa with those eyes. How she fucking hated that look, so she stared back.
ââYou know you could actually get something out of this if you talked about these feelings.ââ
ââFor you to tell me how to breath and coping mechanisms?ââ Melissa Scoffed.
ââNo Melissa. So you wonât bottle up everything until you explode and take out the people around you and drag them down with you.ââ
It was a harsh reality to swallow. One that her stunned in her seat, gripping onto the arm chair with such force her knuckles had began to turn white. She swallowed thickly, her jaw clenching and everything in her body told her to get up and walk out the door. But she didnât. Something made her stay and she wasnât sure what it was.
ââI just stopped. Everything between us just ended.ââ

Sorry if this was all over the placeđ¤Śđťââď¸
~~~~~~~~~~
Looking back on the past several months, you wondered if there was anything you could've done differently.
Maybe, if you just kept to yourself, none of this would be happening.
You and Thomas tried your best to get everyone out of the Maze, you really did. You knew there would be casualties, but you never thought it would be Chuck...or Newt.
After your memories returned, you and Thomas did everything in your power to try and convince the Gladers that you weren't the bad guys. Of course, Gally didn't take too kindly to that news; and when Teresa came up in the Box, all hell broke loose.
You had no idea how you managed to get out of that situation, but thankfully you had more than just Thomas and Teresa on your side. You escaped the Maze. You escaped W.C.K.D. You saved Minho and countless other kids that were taken. Now...you were safe, as crazy as it sounds.
A part of you wished you never got your memories back. You wished you could've just stayed in the Glade with Chuck, Newt, Alby, Ben, or even Teresa. It was hard to not blame yourself, because you were to blame. Maybe none of this would've happened if you just stayed away from Thomas.
Sure, you harbored a bit of resentment. Not just at him though, the whole situation was fucked up, and you knew that, it wasn't fair to blame it all on one person.
Seeing so many of your friends die, in part, because of you, put a strain on your relationship with Thomas. It sucked, because you all were on the run for so long that you didn't even get a chance to spend quality time with him. All you had was your memories to keep you company, which is more than anyone else could say. Which, you guessed, made you lucky.
All these memories coming back to you in an instant, remembering how Thomas was then compared to who he is now, it took some getting used to. Before the Maze, you had a very specific idea of who Thomas was, who he was to you. He was your best friend. He was your partner. He was your soulmate. So why did you start to see things so differently?
It was subtle, at first, just little things you disagreed on from time to time. Like, how you both handled conflict. Then, when Gally became a problem, you had very different ideas on how to handle him. Ultimately, that problem came to a head quickly and you had no choice but to go along with Thomas' plan.
But after escaping the Maze, you two practically disagreed with everything. Granted, looking back, you wished you had agreed on certain things. You were ashamed of yourself for how you treated the Winston situation. When he got infected, you already came to the conclusion that he was just dead weight. Obviously, Thomas had an issue with that. You were never that close to the kid, neither was Thomas, but he was still dead set on dragging him across the desert. It was only when Winston tried to kill himself is when Thomas finally broke.
You apologized to Thomas that night, but he surprised you when he said he understood where you were coming from. He knew Winston would've make it, but he was too stubborn and scared to admit it to himself. That moment was the first time you kissed him since you had gotten your memories back, and Thomas kissed you back.
You always made a strong effort to see things Thomas' way, even if he didn't notice it. But your opinions were so strong sometimes, that you'd completely ignore the pit in your gut that told you that he'd never agree, even if you made a compelling argument. It was frustrating. You knew that some of your ideas were a bit lackluster, you came from a more inconspicuous, strategic approach when it came to plans, whereas Thomas was more guns blazing. But when it came to Minho's rescue mission, both of your views came in handy.
Even now, you wondered if you had went along with Thomas' plan of attack, would Teresa still be alive? Would Newt? Obviously, you had no way of knowing. But just the thought that maybe you might've been at fault made you shut down sometimes.
You had yet another argument with Thomas, and you just couldn't handle being around him anymore. It wasn't the smartest of plans, but you snuck out of camp and wandered into the forest away from the beach. Even in the heat of your rage, you were almost positive you could find your way back again, so you didn't worry. All you tried to focus on was steadying your heartbeat, but all you could do was take an unpleasant trip down memory lane.
It probably should've worried you that it was getting dark really quick. If you were still at camp, you could probably still see the sun going down. But the forest pretty much blocked out all light, even the moon just barely peaking through the trees. But you stayed, suspended a couple feet in the air, sitting on a sturdy tree branch.
Your wrist started to itch, the annoying stinging sensation forcing you out of your state of tranquility and back into the real world. You had to physically stop yourself from huffing, rolling your eyes when you realized that he was close by.
Ever since that day in the Maze, you could always sense Thomas' presence, the ink in your skin giving off a slight burning feeling whenever he was close by. It would start off dull, barely noticeable. The feeling would intensify the closer Thomas would be in proximity until it completely stopped.
"Y/n?"
"Go away." You quickly replied harshly, not even turning around to look at him.
"You need to come back to camp, it isn't safe out here."
"Oh, like it's any safer across the ocean." You sighed.
This was the hundredth disagreement, Thomas wanted to go back to the mainland. His hero complex finding it difficult to just stay in the Safe Haven while there may be other people in need of help. Teresa seemed to finally break him from beyond the grave. He wants to find a way to replicate the cure that she gave to him before she sacrificed herself.
You thought it was stupid. You kept thinking about everyone that has been hurt, everyone that was murdered, all their friends that were experimented on by W.C.K.D. in their hopes of finding a cure. Thomas held the cure in his hand, but it's always never enough. It's like he has to put himself in danger to find a purpose in life. You were almost sure that they was no purpose, just survive.
In the Glade, you had more hope, surprisingly. Without your memories, you woke up with a tiny bit of hope, hope that the world outside the Maze would be better. But then it wasn't. You remembered how shitty the world really was, it even made you miss the Glade. It was a cage, that's for certain, but it almost seemed like you were safer there.
Sure, you were safe now. But your experiences in the Maze combined with all your memories that you had to deal with, you changed, you and Thomas both. Sometimes, it didn't really feel like you were the same people before you lost your memories. Maybe that's why you two were at odds constantly, maybe you two weren't actually soulmates. Who knows what put those tattoos on your skin, it could've been W.C.K.D. for all you knew. It was a very disheartening thought.
"Come on, Y/n. This again, seriously?" Thomas scoffed. "I thought you of all people would understand why I need to do this. If we can replicate the cure, who knows what that could mean for us? For the whole world?"
You sighed, jumping down from the tree branch and standing to face him. "Thomas, I never said we shouldn't try to make more cures. I just think it's idiotic to try and go back to that hellscape."
"It's not that I want to, we don't have the proper tools here that can make it easier to remake the serum."
"Last time we were there, all those buildings were being blown up. Most likely, it's all rubble and ash by now. There wouldn't be anything left to salvage."
"But not impossible."
"Thomas..."
"It's not impossible. Those specific buildings might be gone now, but you know how many more W.C.K.D. facility's there are. We have those coordinates."
"Those buildings are probably overrun by Cranks."
"But there still might be equipment left, and that's enough for me. We owe it to Teresa to try."
You rolled your eyes. "We don't owe her anything, Thomas. She betrayed us all, remember?"
"She saved my life. Our life. Surely, you remember that." You didn't reply. "She was like a sister to you, Y/n. Those feelings aren't just something that goes away overnight."
"It's easier when you remember she always had an agenda to begin with." You snapped, but quickly felt guilty when you saw the tears in Thomas' eyes. Your gaze softened. "Replicating the cure isn't gonna bring her back...we have to move on."
"I know...I know it won't bring her back..." Thomas whispered, slowly sitting down on this forest floor.
You sighed, kneeling down beside him. "I admire that you...want to save the world. But you shouldn't go on a suicide mission because of one person who's not even alive anymore." You said as softly as possible, the chirps of insects around you almost drowning you out.
"You think this is just about Teresa?" Thomas quickly asked, furrowing his brows.
You shrugged. "I know how hard you took her death. And yeah, it's been hard for me too. I was just so angry at her that I didn't allow myself to mourn. But I honestly think that Teresa wouldn't want you to kill yourself over this cure just for her."
Thomas let out a bitter chuckle, shaking his head. "It was never just about her. I...I couldn't save Newt. He wasn't immune, and I am. And I could've saved him if I had just listened to Teresa. So many people on this island aren't immune. Including you...if there's even the slightest chance I could make more cures in order for you to be safe...it's more than enough for me. I can't lose you too."
"Thomas..."
"I can't lose you."
You shook your head, quickly grabbing onto Thomas' hands. "Hey," You said softly, "you're not going to lose me."
"How do you know?"
"Thomas, no one here has the virus. And we're so far away from the mainland...don't you think it would be affecting people already if it could reach us here?"
Thomas stayed silent, casting his gaze to the forest floor dejectedly.
You sat closer to him, resting your head on his shoulder, but still keeping your hands on his. "Thomas, I think the worst is over now. We don't have W.C.K.D. hanging over our heads, and we're not running for our lives anymore...we shouldn't have to worry about this kind of stuff anymore."
"Sometimes it's hard to believe that we don't have to run for our lives anymore..." Thomas whispered softly.
You frowned, leaning more into Thomas. "I know...I've been feeling the same way."
Thomas brought up your wrist, kissing his tattooed name gently. "I'm sorry. I hate arguing with you."
You smiled weakly. "It's okay. I'm sorry too."
"I remember you telling me that my stubbornness will get me killed someday." He chuckled, then sighed. "You weren't wrong. I know I'm stubborn."
"Hey, it's not just you. I know I'm stubborn too."
"We make such a good pair, don't we?" He joked.
The thought about the origins of your tattoos came back into your mind, causing you to frown slightly. "Do you ever think about our tattoos?" You asked hesitantly. "Like, about how they got there in the first place?"
Thomas inhaled deeply. "Yeah. I have."
"Do you think W.C.K.D. is the one who put these here?" You asked, rubbing your thumb over Thomas' tattoo.
"I don't know...maybe. But even if they did, it doesn't matter to me. I love you, and that'll never change."
You looked up at Thomas, seeing that he was already looking at you with a small smile. You felt your face heat up when he moved a strand of your hair out of your face, his fingers lingering on your cheek. "Thomas...?"
"Hmm?"
You leaned in and placing your lips against his gently. "I love you too."
Thankfulness
Her (e/c) colored eyes blankly dropped down to the thin layer of blankets covering her lap, and all the while, the deep (e/c) colored hues were dimmed, holding a much duskier tone than they had possessed just a few days ago.
Her bottom lip trembled before it was caged between her two rows of teeth, the woman keeping it crushed between the pair of sharp edges before she swallowed down a horridly tart taste that was very faint, yet familiar.Â
As the fine ends of her teeth began to dig into the flesh of her lip furthermore she could taste a hint of metal, and she was so close to having it splash into her mouth that she could feel her stomach clench, twisting and turning as it spun to retch the contents back up as soon as it traveled down.
'Blood...'Â She inwardly thought to herself, holding spite to even the word itself.
Her right hand trembled as she fisted it over the sheets until the material on her lap was wound in a tight ball, and soon after, harsh pants resonated from her as she tried to calm herself down.Â
'Blood...All of their blood...' She inwardly rambled, trying to rid herself of the thought.
Whereas silence would bring any other person calm, it only brought her more distress, her entire body raking with shutters as she tried to calm the voices in her head, the very ones that were so familiar and precious, it brought her actual pain.Â
'Did...Did we really win?' she asked herself, struck by a reality that felt as though it'd been basked by defeat.Â
' because It doesn't feel like it.' She then added, slowly hanging her head, a small, almost inaudible sound that was akin to a croak escaping her parted lips.
ââââââââââââââââ
As his eyes fell onto her, he dropped the small flower arrangement, quickly making it to her bedside in a single leap, his eyes brightened by the sight of her finally conscious.Â
The man had waited what felt like an agonizingly long eternity to finally meet her again, and now that she was fully there, he could drop his shoulders down in relief,Â
 " Thank goo-" he began to speak, but she cut him off quickly,
"- Who do you think you are? ," she said lowly, her voice sharp and seething, making his heart still as she used the tart tone with him, because rarely had he ever heard her speak with such venom.
She had been smiles and cheers, perhaps a clever tongue here and there, but it wasn't anything he really took to heart, and in the end, always found enjoyment in.
- But then again, that was all before their final battle in Cairo.
 "Mon CherieâŚ" he said softly, going to capture her hand when he stopped entirely, regretting doing so.Â
An action that was always welcomed with a sweet, appreciative smile was abruptly stopped, and it was all because he simply couldn't continue.Â
It was impossible to.
Retracting his own hand, he fisted it instead, keeping it close to his side as his face morphed into a hard etched grimace, one that was of regret.
"Go on right ahead," she invited him, looking up at him with wet (e/c) eyes, and for just a moment, the sizzling boil she felt calmed to show him more pain than rage,
 "why don't you take a hold of it?" She asked him, using the same, soft, delicate voice that quivered, urging him to answer in spite of already knowing why he held back, already aware of the factor stopping him.Â
With guilt written over his face, he strayed his eyes from her for a moment, uttering once again the endearment, "Mon Cherie ...IâŚ"
"You should have left me there," she breathed, her good hand falling over the side of her shoulder, gliding down to feel it mostly flat, a small bump which was all that was left over from her limb being the only thing there for her to find.
" You should have let him take all of me," She then added, desperately trying to hold back tears, because she knew that once they fell, there would be no stopping them.Â
'Why did you risk yourself for me?' She asked herself, 'Why did you even bother?'
All the beautiful words he could utter to her would be nothing in comparison to the pain that would consume everything until her heart became a bitter black, and by that point, they both knew it.
But even then, he continued,Â
"I'm glad you're alright," He said to her, and at that, she choked.
 "I should be dead!" She said in a strangled tone, "I miss the point of it all!" She added, closing her eyes tightly, and it damned her to feel the limb there, when she knew that in reality, it was nothing but a ghost now, existing only in her mind.
'I don't have an arm,' She thought to herself, Â but that was the least of her grievances,Â
 'I don't have Avdol.Â
I don't have Iggy.
I don't have kakyoin here either.
They're all gone...but I'm still here...' She lamented, knowing that by that point, they were also just ghosts, exiting in her head, haunting her every thought.Â
'Why...?' She asked herself, soon muttering the word in a breathy state, "Why?" She then asked the silver-haired male.Â
"I'm missing the point of me still being here!" She heaved, "why am I still here when they aren't?" She asked him, wanting to know just how she, of the handful, was one of the lucky ones out.
'Â Kakyoin was smarter...,Â
Avdol was much strongerâŚ
Iggy was braver, a million times more than I am!'Â
"- I froze! " She reminded the French male, " I could barely move...but I was the lucky one out?" She asked him, and as he watched her, his gaze slowly fell, his blue eyes filling with misery, because he couldn't console her when all throughout the events that occurred afterward, he wondered the same thing.
'It's a pain we'll all bear,' He silently spoke, 'not just you and I...but Mr. Joestar, as well as Jotaro.' he continued on, only finding one single certainty within all the doubt and pain that came from barely scraping by the battle.
"My luck wasn't to make it alive..."Â He started, "It wasn't to make it out alone," He told her.
"It was to somehow have made it out alive... with you in my arms," He revealed to her, remembering that after the battle with Ice it was his one solace.
 "It was to be able to make it out, only because I didn't want to lose you.Â
-Because I didn't want their sacrifices to go in vain." he added with a  voice that wavered, holding a truth that was unmoved.
Even with a dark cloud raining over her, washing away all of her former illuminances, he couldn't look away from her. He spoke to her the only way he could, by looking directly at her, silently thanking the world for giving him the opportunity to do so.Â
'Even with all this pain...
Even with the dimness in your eyes at this very moment...
Even if right now you feel resentment towards me...
You're still so beautiful. You still hold my heart.'
"I'm glad you're here," he assured her, bending down to pick up the fallen blossoms, the beautiful colors of the batch reminding him of their travel.
'The red reminds me of a comforting glow.' he thought while his eyes immediately gravitated to the most passionate color that was in the collection, looking down at it with fondness.Â
'It's of his flames.Â
it's of the ones he'd share with us to keep us warm.
it's of all the protection he provided, right until he last selfless moment.' he reflected upon as his body memorized the comforting warmness.
'And this flower here is the same mix of blue and violet, reminding me of loneliness that fades,'Â he added while thinking of the younger he'd traveled with, realizing that it was almost the same color as his eyes.
'It's of friendship I never thought I could attain,' he went on, musing at the thought of befriending such a young brat, one so different from him.
' And the thorns that protect this flower are mature, they're hidden beneath the young blossoms, underestimated and burrowed, but always there, hidden cleverly.
Sometimes they are a hassle, but after all this, I don't think I will ever find it in me to remove them,'Â He thought with amusement, his heart filled with comfort while knowing that the thorny vines of their group remained just as vivacious as ever.Â
'And then there is this stubborn little shit,'Â He mused while looking down at a particular, little, yellow flower. Most of its petals were slightly withered, one even torn.
'I don't know how you made the final cut, but you did,' he wordlessly spoke to it, 'You really did fit in,' He then added, for just a moment, his thoughts straying to the expressly annoying beast that had traveled with them.
'Stupid dog,'Â he thought with fondness.
A black band snugly held the stems together, elegantly tied into a little bow, and he thought about the man that helped him pick it out,Â
"This one's nice," Kujo commented, his index and middle caressing the silken material between the spaces of the fingers.
"Black?" Polnareff said with skepticism, staring at the ribbon with hesitance, "you really think it fits? I mean... it's such a morbid color," He questioned the younger, finishing off with a grumble.Â
"...For a bouquet nonetheless," he added, having wanted to give something lovely to the woman, desiring to decorate the room with the various fragrances and colors to liven up the quiet space for when she woke.
'For this situation,' he went on, silently speaking as he watched Jotaro quietly marvel at the ribbon.
His sea colored eyes had dimmed, and for the time being, he looked like he wasn't really there, at least, not in mind.
"...I like it." Kujo repeated, breathing out the words in a flat state before he let a low, blue sigh leave him, one that temporarily washed away the grim thoughts.
"She'll like it,"  He then added, fully aware it was a color she liked, and much more, would more than likely be something sheâd use to accessorize.Â
'She'll put it in her hair.Â
Or She'll wrap it around her neck in a little bow.
Or she'll just put it somewhere safe,' He thought with certainty, having discovered how much she appreciated the little things,Â
'If she gets a hold of one soon, she might just stick it in a book,' He then added.
"this one for sure," He concluded, willing to bet on her loving it.
'- You're missing much more than I am,' Jean-Pierre recognized, watching her sit quietly, noiselessly observing the flowers.Â
'Because right now... even while I'm still in mourning, I feel struck by luck, just a small hint of it,' He thought to himself, watching as gradually, a hint of a smile graced her gloomy features.
After the outburst, she'd seemed to calm, falling into a somber hush that soon mellowed, and he lived through every moment with her, not bothering to disrupt their peace with any words, because, after all, he understood where she came from.
Just then, the door to her room was tapped, signaling new visitors,Â
"Coming in," Joseph said lowly, his expression changing from neutral, to completely elated, Â
"Well, look who's up!" He exclaimed, shooting the female a grin, one that was wide and bright.Â
Slowly, her eyes went up to watch him enter, witnessing the man's grandson also following in suit. Â
At the very moment, her eyes met with the younger's sea green, and the action caused a small smile to find its way on his face, giving her a greeting that she took in with appreciation.
"Glad you're ok," the teen said with true relief, and even if he'd held back so much more, she could see the glow in his eyes that spoke much more than he could ever say.
âIâm glad I didnât lose you,â Jotaro said in silence.
Again, she brought her eyes down where the sight of the flowers greeting her.
The little bouquet in her hand was gently held, and as she looked down at it, she watched the little blossoms capture little, fallen drops before they slid off of their petals.
'I'm not,' She corrected him, though not having the heart to tell him, because, she knew that really, he couldn't be in any better state.
'I don't think any of us really are,' She thought to herself, regretful for having attacked the silver-haired male as he'd greeted her, because she was certain he was also in pain.
By then, she'd become understanding of not only her grief but everyone else's.
"Me too," She then told them, not wanting to take for granted the chance she got, much more not willing to make the sacrifices that went in play go in vain.Â
'I won't do that to you guys,' She thought with certainty. 'Â I won't do that to any of us.'
"Thank you." She said with gratitude.
'Thank you all...' Â She added with a loving smile, the gratitude dedicated for everyone in the room, which included the ones there in body, as well as those who now traveled in their hearts.
She then found herself looking right at the blue-eyed male, her gaze especially sweet as it touched him, knowing that if there was one person she really had to thank, and it was him.Â
'I think...Iâm really glad to be here, because of all of you.'Â
Scisaac :D
oof, thank you for this ask, and I am so sorry this took so long to respond. Itâs finals season and I grossly underestimated how much I have to do đ
But here it is, in all it's (hopefully understandable) rambling glory: Scisaac
*aggressively hits ship button*Â
1) What made you ship it?
Iâve been on the Scisaac train for a looooong time now. When I was first watching Teen Wolf, during my own very teen-y but non-wolfy years, I donât think I actually started to ship them until a bit into 3A. When I re-watched the show, though, that scene in the club with âNo, I mean you. I donât want you to get hurt.â had me as done for as Isaac. (Thereâs this lovely gif set someone made, too, thatâs just a close up on their hands during the syringe hand-off, and all the subtle, soft finger brushing makes me go feral.) Anyway, that scene was the shipping spark, but it wasnât really what established Scisaac as an important relationship to me.
For me, the scene in the clinic with the dog (in 2x11 âBattlefieldâ) is what really cemented that. Itâs funny, because this scene really isnât a shipping scene, right? This is a learning moment which focuses more on resident-mentor Alan Deaton extending to Isaac the opportunity to learn how to use his abilities for something other than anger and power. And I love it so much for that! But the interaction between Scott and Isaac makes me weak. Because youâve got Isaac--this jaded, abused kid who holds a lot of resentment and fear and accepted the bite, most likely, to feel like he had some modicum of control in his life and the strength to not feel helpless anymore, and in the end externalized all of that rage--experiencing this moment of raw vulnerability with two people who, by all counts, should want nothing to do with him. And we can talk about how that moment in the club was probably one of the first times anyone has shown genuine concern for Isaacâs well-being (and how this act of kindness was coming from someone heâs been hostile to) in who knows how long, but what about the first moment Isaac acts in compassion and tenderness? How long has it been since he considered himself capable of feeling something that wasnât pain, fear, or that deep seated fury which swallows everything else? How long has it been since Isaac knew any language other than violence? For a moment heâs cracked open and everything is overwhelming and rather than using his hands as weapon and shield, heâs using them to heal. He cries, and for a moment heâs even startled--maybe scared. And what does Scott do? He immediately offers a point of connection and consolation (âItâs okay, I cried the first time he showed me, too.â)
Scott has this heart which is (sometimes dangerously) open and exposed. He cares and he believes so deeply in humanity and goodness that even when heâs spent weeks(?) fighting Isaac, distrusting Isaac, heâs also been worrying about Isaac. And the way Scott acts in this scene is so soft and curious as heâs standing by, watching. Itâs like heâs just been waiting for Isaac to let his guard down just enough to step outside of what Derekâs been teaching him (about anger and control, just like he did Scott). And he gets this tiny little smile on his face as he watches it happen, because I can imagine he knows almost exactly how Isaac is feeling. Scott presents it differently and he often buries it down, but heâs angry too. All the time, at so many things, but he chooses to channel his energy into helping other people. And seeing Isaac, who up until this moment has mostly shown animosity and apathy, brought to tears when he learns he can take pain from others just proves to Scott that the tenderness pays off, that caring heals. Everyone is capable of kindness if they choose it, and to watch Isaac open himself up a little bit to that option--one that hasnât been available to him for a long time--is incredibly rewarding. It just was such a warm, vulnerable, and genuine exchange between all three of them, and given how closed off Isaac is it was a significant indicator of the safety he was starting to feel around Scott.Â
2) What are your favorite things about the ship?
re: above, my favorite thing about this ship is how tender and vulnerable each of them can be with the other (in their own ways) and how they challenge each other in ways they both really need. Scott encourages Isaac to turn away from aggression as a solution and to focus more on others, on compassionate and peaceful forms of resolution. (Itâs uhhh....a work in progress.) Scott softens Isaac in a way I think he really needs. Conversely, Â Isaac challenges Scott in ways he really needs. Isaac encourages him to place more focus on himself and actually attend to his needs. And also? I just think they would have fun, because Isaac = trouble and Scott 100% enjoys shenanigans more than he acts like he does. Heâs a little shit at heart, and Iâm here for Isaac encouraging that.
Also, I think their relationship has a good balance because theyâre very different people, but I think that they have some points of relation that run deep in ways many people wouldnât understand. For one thing, I think that Scott has a foundation of understanding for Isaacâs experience of childhood abuse and how this informs his behavior. This is entirely up to interpretation because the show never specified beyond the time Rafael accidentally(?) pushed Scott down the stairs, but even if Scott didnât experience physical abuse outside of this incident, itâs pretty clear that Rafael is an angry, violent drunk and that the relationship in that home was toxic and (judging by his interactions with Scott and Melissa) likely emotionally abusive. It probably wasnât always that way; it wasnât always that way for Isaac either. The abuse that Isaac endured was different and more severe (at least in a physical sense), and whereas Scottâs dad left when he was ten, Isaac was stuck with his dad until the kanima killed him. But I think that experience of living in a home that doesnât feel safe is something they both share. Isaacâs initial reaction seems to be to run away or retreat when heâs unsafe, but Scottâs is to make it a safe place. I could ramble on and on, but what Iâm getting at is just that I think even with extremely different personalities and ideologies, theyâd be able to understand each other in very specific, personal ways and help each other cope. Iâm also a huge sucker for the fact that Isaac showed up on the McCallâs doorstep and that Scottâs home literally became his home--but, really, Scott became his home. And rather than run or hide when things are scary, he defends his home now (metaphorical and physical) and keeps building it up again. (And yeah, sometimes defense means beating a guy he already hated senseless over Scott not healing and then Scott probably being less than pleased about it, but itâs a learning curve okay?)
3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?Â
Iâm not sure what the general opinions are on this ship, especially now. But the most unpopular opinion I probably have is about Isaacâs temperament. A lot of people have a tendency to kind of take aforementioned softness and turn Isaac into a very gentle, sweet, puppy-like character, which I just donât think is realistic. Really and truly, Isaacâs a sarcastic asshole with anger issues and not a whole lot of tact. And, though I tend to think he softens up quite a bit with Scott, I donât think that changes the nature of his behavior, if that makes sense? I actually think part of the reason Isaac is a good match for Scott in the first place is because heâs this way. Scott has a tendency to ignore his own needs, which often means his wellbeing suffers. Isaacâs the kind of person to point out the bullshit, no sugar-coating, and stubbornly counter Scottâs attempts to excuse his own self-neglect at every turn. Isaac is loyal and caring, yes, but heâs pushy and aggressive about it. And I honestly think Scott needs a partner who wonât put up with his self-sacrifice; he needs someone whoâs going to be persistent, because Scott also tends to be pretty obstinate.
In conclusion, I love them your honor.Â
(Send me a ship and Iâll ramble about why I do/donât ship it!)
Hi, fellow matchup blog here as well. Could I persay get an Obey Me matchup?
More information can be found on my navigation post [ about me ]
Fem Aries / pansexual (they/she) / ENTJ-A 8w9
Iâm known to be either very smiley and optimistically loud or very serious/demanding, quiet, and passive/realistic.
I get angered/irritated very easily but Iâm quick to get over it. I donât hold grudges given I donât really see the need to , but also I forgive people very easily.
Iâm the type of person that just doesnât care what people think about me. People say I come off as arrogant or selfish. Arrogant yes but I wonât really say Iâm selfish. I like to do things that benefit me in a way, but also in a way that also benefits my surroundings.
I like to lead and be in charge of things. Im a quick thinker and like to get things done right then and there. Im very blunt and brutally honest in my leadership/also in general and because of that people may call me an ass or an insensitive beatch. However Iâve learned and tried to compromise with others to get what they also want. Besides that Iâm a very energetic person who tries to see the good in others and tries to come off as my best self to ones I donât know.
However get to know me and Iâm actually just a chaotic being. Iâd like to say Iâm a pretty kind and open minded person whoâs fairly goal oriented. I have a problem with not living in the moment and would rather constantly plan things out. I adore (deep) cleaning and will do so whenever I want to, feel the need to, or when Iâm pissed off. When Iâm alone I prefer to be left alone and Iâm very quiet whereas in public Iâm very extroverted and energetic.
I play violin/piano. I sing anywhere and anytime. I always find myself humming or singing something.
I tend to like people romantically or even just as friends/people who are much more smarter than I am. And very affectionate through words or not. And people who know how to live in the moment unlike me whoâs always future oriented. I like to give people things as an act of love.
Apologies for the long request. Do take your time.
Hello! Of course you can! You sound amazing, I'm not gonna lie â¤ď¸ @vbee-miya
--
I can see you suiting...
Lucifer â¤ď¸
You both would be the power couple of Devildom.
Your personalities and ideals are similar enough where he doesn't get easily irritated with you being around. With you around, he would learn to not keep as many grudges (especially against Mammon and his spending habits) and calm down every now and then.
The main issue in your relationship would be that you both like to be in charge and will make it so things go your way. If you both want different things then expect to try and convince him to compromise with you. However, because he loved you, you would have an easier time doing this than his brothers.
You would help Lucifer when it came to building the relationships he had with his younger brothers. This was because you would both learn how to make better compromises with the others so that everyone was happy with the choice. This was definitely difficult for Lucifer but with you by his side, he was getting better at it. Although he would only do this every now and again so that no-one would try and take advantage of this kinder side. He was still the eldest brother and Avatar of Pride after all.
When it came to the rest of the brothers, you would be close with them all with a preference towards Satan and Mammon.
Satan was because he reminded you of your boyfriend (although you would never admit this to him) and he would tell you about all the new things he had read about. You would settle down in his room with a cup of your favourite hot beverage while the conversation would consist of any topic that had caught his and your attention recently.
Mammon was simply because he was chaotic and you felt you needed that energy in your life sometimes. When you hang out, your energies would match up and you would both try and find something fun to do. This was usually going out shopping so Mammon could buy all the things he saw while you would be trailing behind him, resisting the urge to lecture him about how irresponsible he was being. Although, you did love that he lived entirely within the moment, no thoughts on the consequences for his spending until it came down to facing them. Sometimes you wished you could be just like him.
Dates could happen at any moment with the two of you, but extravagant dates are often left until the end of each month. Smaller dates would usually be held within Lucifer's study or the music room he loved so much. Once he had found out you could play the piano as well as sing, you can bet your ass that he would constantly ask you to entertain him with a song. As you played, he would be sat comfortably in his chair, eyes closed and a glass of wine in hand. Lucifer adored this side of you and made sure you knew just how much he did. Compliments were showered over you, which is surprising since he was known to very rarely say anything nice to anyone else. Pride was definitely thrown out the window around you though (not entirely but he sure wasn't how he usually is).
Lucifer understood the importance of alone time and so would make it a point to allow you both time to yourselves. You appreciated it more than he probably knew. Although he loved you with his entire being, being around you 100% of the time would have caused arguments and resentments. After all, having your own life away from each other was an important aspect of any relationship to prevent co-dependency.
Cleaning day was every Sunday in the House of Lamentation. Lucifer would make sure Mammon and Belphie didn't try to get you to clean their rooms so they could goof off or sleep. Even though he knew you loved deep cleaning, there was only so much you could do and he didn't want you to get worn out. Might even buy you specific things you wanted to get a better cleaning experience. He would find it hard to say no when you begged to clean his study because it was becoming cluttered. He appreciates how clean you are, even trying to get on your level but it's just too difficult when he has Diavolo to deal with.
In public, the most affection you would get is him holding your hand or placing a quick kiss to the top of your head. When you both are in the comfort of his study or room, this demon gets SUPER affectionate. Might even be a little touch starved so he would enjoy cuddles and other softer expressions of your love. Definitely would place you on his lap while he completes paperwork, his spare hand rubbing circles into your palm. Anything to just have you touching him.
He keeps everything you give him in a special drawer at his desk. Cards you had given him for his birthday or valentine's day, little love notes, dried up flowers, this drawer had them all. Secretly will reread the love notes every night before going bed. He is secretly a softie when it comes to you.
I canât believe this!!!
So, something very weird and crazy happened yesterday night. I got i to little debate with my mom. It started from feminism and we ended on the LGBTQ community. But either way it was chaotic.
But the argument ended in me realizing that older generations... As in our parents, don't actually care about this feminism thingy at all. They don't care at all. They want good lives and want equality but it's for themselves, they fail to see that there are different types of women out there too. And even worse is that my mother has no idea of what the LGBTQ community is. And that's sick!
The only thing she is aware of is that gay is a bad word to call some like. What the hell? It sure as hell isn't! So it was like late night, and my mother was randomly scrolling through her phone while me and my sister were just cracking random jokes and laughing among ourselves.
Thatâs when my mother made this comment on seeing a post, âWomen donât look good until they have good hair.â I gave it some thought, not in the mood for an argument at 11 in the night. But my sister felt the need to speak so she retorted with, âNot necessarily, everyone looks good, and I donât see how a personâs hair matters.â I agreed, my mother didnât.
She said, âNot necessarily everyone looks good, we just say everyone is beautiful for the sake of it, but i donât really think people look good with bad hair. And i donât think really really short hair suits people either.â I didnât like that comment one bit, so i stepped in.
âNot everyone says that everyone is beautiful just for the sake of it. Everyone truly is beautiful, and A lot of people look good with really short hair too, you canât judge them like that.â She threw me a look for that.
âAt that rate, you will say that even bald people look good. They donât necessarily look good. they are people like that.â I shot back at her, cause now it was getting on my nerves. I told her, âWho said bald people donât look good, i thought i just specified the fact that everyone looks good, and there are no exceptions to that case, even my sister had gotten my bald she was very young, you didnât call her ugly. Then why others?â
âShe said fine, I am not gonna argue with that, not necessarily all women and men look good. I donât think that everyone is good looking. Beautiful doesnât mean human, you need to have some things in you to be termed beautiful.â
My sister contradicted with, âI donât think anyone set the parameters for beauty yet, if anyone has, they are crazy. Everyone is beautiful and if you donât feel so, iâm sorry i canât change that. But iâm with my sister in this.â
But i had a whole different topic to discuss after that, âThis whole conversion was carried out as if it was pointed towards women, I donât see why women donât look good with short hair. Men look good in short hair, men and women are equal, and if men can have short hair and not be judged, it can be the same with women.â
That seemed to put my mother to think, but she didnât change her thought one bit. she responded with, âWomen and men are different, sure women and men are equal, but there are some differences, and by the way women are built differently and they ought to look good. Thatâs when you feel like a women.â
my sister felt differently, âMen and women are equal, at least they should be. And the word equal, doesnât come with any exceptions like beauty or anything, so equal means equal. Thatâs what feminism is for.â
My mother looked confused at the last sentence, she looked like she didnât know what feminism is. But then she automatically assumed it to have something to do with women being superior than men. She clarified that she didnât think women ought to be on a higher position in the world, like unless the women actually deserved it with all right. But men had the higher position and the best we ought to get was gender equality, between females and males.Â
Until a few years back, i would have agreed with her, just the way my sister did after explaining the real meaning of feminism to my mother. But, I didnât agree with that statement either. Gender equality did not mean equality between males and females, it meant equality between all the genders. That is when i got in the LGBTQ+ community. My mother had literally 0% idea of what that was. And i felt like digging my own grave and burying myself alive.Â
I did not even ask her to google the community like i had asked her to google feminism. I simply asked her what was her view on the transgenders. She said, ânot much, they are like okay though i am not sure i really support them. I am still dicy about them.â
That reminded of something that happened long back. When I was in Class 7, one of my classmates accidentally called a guy in our class gay, because he used to make fun of them in class a lot. I truly used to resent it when they used to make fun of transgenders in my school, I wasnât aware of the the LGBTQ+ community back then, but still I hated it.
When the fact a guy had called a friend of his gay in school spread around and our parents got to know, the kid got suspended for two days, and got a diary note. Moreover my mother told me then that I hope you donât use such bad words and vulgarized language in school. If I hear you calling anyone such a foul word anytime, consider yourself grounded for a year.Â
That day stuck with me forever, How the heck was GAY a bad word?Â
So last night during the argument, I told her that gender equality meant it was for all the genders, literally all the genders. And i literally told her about the fact that she told me gay was a bad word whereas it wasnât. I told her that there are homosexual people as well and just told her about the LGBTQ+ community. She didnât seem to support them much. But at least she knew about it.
She still didnât agree about the lgbtq+ community thingy and different genders. she also mentioned that she didnât know anything about this community, and she wondered if she could have cared less about it before. And she was very shocked about the fact that i supported them, and that I was a feminist. she said that she never taught me any of this and was thoroughly surprised when she found out I knew so many things, that she thought that I shouldnât.
It sucked that she thought of all of it in such a manner, But before i could go further with the convo, my sister just asked us to cut it out... Though i was so not pleased to know that my mom didnât even know that there is something called the LGBTQ+ community and feminism. A similar thing had happened a few month ago, where i told her about black lives matter. Turns out our generation is quite more socially knowledgeable and mature than our parents.Â
But then again, this morning i was called lazy, and again made to feel like crap. my mother termed that i ought to study and not spend so much time on my laptop and mobile, because, they arenât going to get me anywhere and social media is poisoning my mind. Interesting part.... TUMBLR is my only source of socializing on the internet! She isnât even aware of that. But yeah... at the end: I am the stuck up kid in the house.
Aaaaaah.... what a beautiful night. A clear sky, stars dosing this beautiful black sky, A full moon, well round, very bright. If werewolves existed, it would be a perfect full moon for them, an ideal evening of blood and chaos for them. But even though he's not a werewolf, tonight is a perfect night for Danny. Finally.... FINALLY, he will be able to kill Hoggins. Finally, he will be able to finish what he started so long ago. Finally, he will be able to turn the page. What to do next? Â Keep killing of course. But here or elsewhere.... that is the question. He couldn't wait to see you too. But not tonight.
The question that everyone must ask themselves is: but how could he go out with all his equipment, and above all, what will he be able to tell you, given that you live together? well the answer is very simple, and luck is definitely on his side. For the answer, he will simply find a great excuse, out of his awesome and insane mind. And as for luck, you are not at the apartment tonight. No, you spend the evening at Melina's, the latter having invited you to come and watch horror movies at her house. Danny really has a very good star over his head, although he would have had no trouble finding an excuse to go out tonight: being a journalist can be a curse for sleep but also a blessing for murder.
Danny was posed against his van as usual, observing the home of his future victim and revenge: Richard Hoggins. Good god it burned his whole body to go there now and massacre him without any mercy, without any strategy, just... a good bloody murder. But he must remain calm, this is not the time to be spotted and suspected by the police. And amazingly, even Jed, who is only Danny's alter-ego, an identity he had created from scratch, even he wanted to kill him.
âA beautiful night to kill, isn't it? Well... only you can see it.â said Jed inside Dannyâs mind. Â
âI expected you to give me yet another lesson in morality as you know how to do so well. What's going on Jed? Would I have ended up rubbing off on you?â responds Danny chuckling. Â
âDon't claim victory too quickly. I would never endorse what you do, but let's say I'm going to make an exception for this asshole. He has to pay for Carla.â
âYou talk about Carla as if you were the one who lost her forever. Whereas you are just an invention. A simple name. You don't know anything and you don't feel anything.
âYou created me the very second you needed me. I may not be real, but I am a part of you, your good side, your past innocence. And also, your psychologist in a way. And I will continue to exist, as long as you need another identity. Involuntarily, you let me access your life, and now we are two sides of the same coin. People would say that... I am your imaginary friend. That looks like you like two drops of water.â
âOh, shut up...â replied Danny, sighing and looking away. Â
â... What will you do, when (y/n) learns the truth. Are you going to kill her or are you going to let her live?â said Jed looking at Hogginâs house. Â
âIt will depend on her reaction. If I could leave her alive.... that would suit me. But if she confronts me or tries to call the police... I will have no other choice.â
âWill you only be able to... thatâs the question.â
Danny got up, looked at the house one last time before putting on his mask and taking his knife. Itâs time. Let us not make Hoggins wait any longer. The house was just as guarded as McKellan's. But that's not what was going to stop Danny. Far from it. The harder the victory, the more delicious the reward will be. He walked to the side of the house where Hoggins' office was located. The window was closed at first glance but it is better to check.
As usual, he will use the equipment he finds on site. One of Danny's golden rules is never buying any equipment. Otherwise, the police will be able to trace him via his bank account. Beginner error. He climbed up to hoggins' office window and effectively it was closed. But the one in the next room, on the other hand, was not completely. It was an archive room, surely where he kept his contracts, press articles, and anything else that could interest him.
âWell... a real library... I am sure that even the police archives room is not as large and as full of documents as this room... Hoggins protects a real time bomb. If anyone stumbles upon all this... His entire family over thousands of generations will be dishonoured.â Said Danny looking inside the drawers. Â
And why not take a look? it won't hurt anyone. And with a little luck... Danny opened each drawer and looked at the different files until he found the one looking for: the file recounting the events of 4 years ago. The juicy little contract he had made with Dr. Pheels was to vomit. Certainly, he gave funds to the hospital for each death... but he recovered the double because he took 3/4 of the state aid that Pheels gave him. In the end everyone was a winner. And Hoggins even more.
âMotherf*cker. I hope you have taken advantage of this money, asshole. Because you're going to pay a lot tonight.â
Danny put the files away before passing the door that linked the archive room to the office. The office was empty, Hoggins was not there yet. Perfect. This gave him time to inspect the room. No camera. No alarm. Nothing. Good. The ropes of the curtains could be used to tie Hoggins. Or even more. Compared to McKellan, he did not exhibit artifacts or sharp objects in his office. Fortunately, he had taken his own knife. The office stinked of luxure, we saw that it was made to measure and at a price ... to fall to the ground.
Danny really wonders if he paid for it with "clean money". Rotten as he is, Hoggins may well have paid workers with dirty money, or not paid at all. It's possible with men like him. They are so stingy, so conceited, that they are able to do anything to keep a single penny. Noises were heard in the corridors. Heâs coming. Danny got to the door and when Hoggins arrived, he did not see the latter hidden by the door.
âThese cop bastards are seriously starting to hit me on the nerves to take care of my business! And that journalist... this Olsen.... if I could make him disappear... I thought I wouldn't fall back on him here. Maybe... maybe I could swing everything on him. After all,... I know who he really is.â said Hoggins before drinking. Â
Danny quietly advanced behind Hoggins ready to knock him out. The latter still drank a few sips of his glass of whiskey before turning around and falling face to face with Ghostface. The latter did not give him time to do or say anything that he punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, knocking him out instantly. Danny sneered at the inert body before taking a chair and the ropes from the curtain, then lifted Hoggins up to tie him up on the chair. He locked the door of the office and then returned to the archives room where he found a closet in which there were boards, nails and an electric nailer.
He prepared the scene by nailing the boards together, took the remaining curtain ropes and installed all his work in such a place and arrangement that when the police enter, Hoggins' body will be the first thing they will see. And if it could be Willhelm first... the pleasure will be all the greater. Hoggins woke up after a few minutes without panicking, without trying to free himself. As if he knew what lay ahead.
âWell, well... McKellan had acted like you at the beginning... you want to play the big hard... but you are only little girls.â Said Danny chuckling.
âIt's funny coming from a man who doesn't take responsibility for his crimes and hides under a Halloween ghost mask. But we have to believe that criminals are all bad guys who want to play the big tough.â responds Hoggins before taking a punch in the face. Â
âYou have more mouth than the other idiot. But you will quickly regret it, itâs me who tells you. Â You forget who I am.â
âOh no... I know exactly who you are... Jed Olsen ... or you'd rather I call you... Danny Johnson?â
â...I see that you have done some research... and you have learned your lessons well. After all, you've had plenty of time for 4 years. But you're going to pay for it. Up to the last litre of blood.â
âAll this for a poor little girl who was going to die anyway? You're resentful Johnson. You could have simply turned the page and avoided poking your nose into my stuff. I was very saddened to learn of the tragic death of Pheels...â
Danny punched him again before pulling out his knife and planting it in Hoggins' leg. The latter groans in pain before falling with his chair to the ground. Danny put himself on top of him and chained the blows more and more loudly. He lifted Hoggins by the hair and dragged him for meters to place him in front of a wooden cross large enough to hang a man on it.
âYou see my dear Richard... this "poor little girl" as you call her had a future. And she could have got away with a treatment. The problem is that Carla had the misfortune to stumble upon you and your dear partner, Pheels. And YOU have decided to let her die in the name of profit. What's stupid for both of you is that you're falling on me. Young journalist... and crazy to bind. She was the only thing that helped me stay upright and you killed her. Pheels paid his share. You're going to pay yours. But for you the bill is going to be heavier. You know why? Because you're also going after MY girlfriend. And that... you should never have.â said Danny, preparing the electric nailer.
âWhen she learns of it, your little cafĂŠ boss will swing you at the cop. Anyway, you're screwed. I have a whole file on you and when Wilhelm sees it and read it...â said Hoggins with a sneaky smile.
âOh. Are you talking about that?â replied Danny by exiting the folder. âYou've done some really good research tell me. I loved rereading all these things about myself. You could have made it a novel even. Too bad this file disappears with you. At least it's going to burn. You... I'm reserving you for something more... artistic. I hope you are ready to meet your creator. Because you're going to join him right now. And in the same way as him. Or rather in a bloody way than him.â
Danny took the electric nailer and equipped it. He began by shooting Hoggins in the legs, who groaned again in pain. Unfortunately for him no one could hear him. He shot again, but this time in the arms, then in the torso. Blood was dripping from everywhere and Hoggins was finding it increasingly difficult to breathe. Danny detached him and put him on the cross where he nailed him like Jesus. Â
âYou are...completely twisted. You will burn... in hell.â Said Hoggins. Â
âMaybe. But for now, it's you who's going to rot in hell. Suck the devilâs d***, you son of b**ch.â responds Danny before killing him with a nail in the head. Â
A demonic smile stretched over his face. That's it... He's dead. But it's not over yet. Much remains to be done. Danny used the curtain ropes to tie Hoggins to the wooden cross. Then with the little one remaining, he created a kind of crown with nails, which he fixed to hogginsâ head. Then he bombarded the whole body with nails, causing it to bleed from all sides. Â
He then nailed Hoggins' hands and legs to make sure he did not fall and turned the cross over to make the symbol of the devil. This is a very successful work of art. However, one or two small details are missing. It's not bloody enough for his liking. He used his knife to eviscerate Hoggins, then slashed an angel's smile. Danny used Hoggins' blood to write a message on the wall and backed off to admire his work. There... there itâs better. There is only one thing left to do: to make this folder disappear. And the only way... it's to burn it.
But Danny is not stupid, he is not going to put the fire at home. He will burn it outside in the garden. He observed his work one last time, took a picture in order to have a proof to show you, then he left the place. Once away, halfway between the van and the house, he pulled out a lighter and set fire to the folder. He let go of the latter, watched him burn for a few minutes, then went to the van and left the place to go home.
âFinally... It's over. I will be able to turn the page...â said Danny, looking at the road.
âYes. But you're going to keep killing. And that's not cool.â responds Jed sitting on the passenger seat. Â
âDid you honestly believe that I was going to change after that? Oh no, obviously I'll continue... but I would no longer be alone. I hope you enjoyed the show from my mind.â
âMake Hoggins the counterpart of God and crucify him? I must admit that I loved it.â
âThis is normal... you are me.â replied Danny looking at the passenger seat before focusing on the road again.
Danny arrived in the parking lot of the building. He changed in the back of the van, put his suit in his bag and went up to the apartment. When he opened the door, he noticed that it looked empty. He walked to the bedroom which was also empty. You hadn't come back yet, it was perfect. He went to his office to put down his bag, take out his suit and put it in the washing machine. Once the latter was washed, he began to dry it in his office, which he locked. He took a shower, put on his pyjamas, and threw another washing machine. At the same time, you return, all smiling, exhausted but delighted from your evening. Danny took you in his arms, kissed you and guided you to the room so that you could both go to bed.
What you didn't know yet was that the job was done. Finally, Danny could turn the page on his past. And he shot it in the most beautiful way.
An inverted cross on the photo of a demon.
(My first injection of the vaccine is only next Tuesday! I'm a little stressed because I don't know how I'm going to react to this first injection of vaccine. So, I prefer to warn in advance that this could delay the release of the next chapter of DSS. But don't worry! I'm solid so everything should go well! As I told you, I will try to do a small teasing post for fanfic re8, but it is complicated to summarize something without telling too much. And I always struggle to find a title. I hope youâll like this chapter like the others ones! Well, it's time for my brain to rest! Have a great weekend to you all! Â See ya!)
I Am Very Proud Of You
For @cynicalrainbows, a one shot featuring the idea that Catalina feels left out of mom!Janeâs pride in her so called kids.
This got long.
Itâs been a while since the queens have reincarnated. Theyâve long since passed most of their personal issues. They even settled in nicely to the current century. Anne and Kitty got jobs, working in a flower shop just down the road. Anna has picked up several volunteer shifts at a local animal shelter. Cathy is a tutor for adults at the neighborhood library. And Catalina works at a daycare, decidedly liking modern day kids over modern day adults. (They have all of the curiosity and none of the disbelief in her legitimacy as a former queen of England.)
And Jane, well, Jane is a stay at home mother. Kind of.
They live in the suburbs in a place where cost of living is pretty low, Kitty, Anne and Catalina make enough to cover their more indulgent purchases. Whereas the rest is covered by some anonymous donor, who they think is the reason they are even alive. There is no reason for Jane to have to get a job herself. Not to say she doesnât have hobbies, she does occasionally visit the local art supplies stores, and sometimes she goes to the animal shelter with Anna. But she does actually prefer to stay home as an introvert.
As she does stay home most of the time, she takes up most of the household chores. She cleans, she cooks, she makes sure that there is order where there would normally be chaos. This also means that sheâs taken on the more maternal place in the house. The others rely on her, whether they were reluctant to in the beginning or not.
Her biggest maternal habit is validating the other queens. She spent a lot of time in her last life being put down- they all had. The least she can do whilst being the glue that keeps their little family together is to make sure they all know they are doing great given the circumstances.
Itâs a rather chaotic morning, sheâs been running around like crazy. They all have, but her in particular trying to get everyone ready for the day.
âJane!â
Thatâs Anne, upstairs and probably looking for her jacket, which is hanging on the end of the railing at the lower level.
âDown here love, come and get your jacket before you and Kitty are late!â
She speeds down, almost crashing into Anna, whoâs rifling through her bag with a piece of toast in her mouth. When she asks what the woman is looking for, she seems to forget about the toast. Jane reaches out and catches it in a moment of astounding reflexes.
âAh! Donât get crumbs all over my carpet, please.â
âSorry! Have you seen my-â
âJane! I canât find my-â
âKitty! I found-â
âCathy, you-!â
Jane snorts, leave it to those two to have half conversations and still understand each other.
âWhat is it, Anna?â
She snaps back to attention, having been distracted by the yelling upstairs. Impressive how those two have the capacity to be that loud given the way they havenât slept in two days. Yes, Jane knows. And yes, Jane will be intervening if they try to make it a third.
âMy wallet, I canât find my wallet.â
âHave you checked the hoodie you wore yesterday?â
âShi- Crap,â Anna quickly corrects herself in Janeâs presence, âI forgot about that, let me check.â
She races off to check the coat closet, which is where sheâs stuck most of her hoodies in an attempt for space in her own closet.
It doesnât take long for Jane to find something else to focus on. Anne is currently making an attempt to find her snack pack for the day. Now, this is something that unlike what you might think, is not Janeâs doing. She does not pack lunches and snacks for the women in the house, if they want that they can do so themselves. Jane places Annaâs toast on a paper towel and decides to help.
âIsnât it in the lower cabinet? Couldâve sworn you all changed where you keep them.â
âOh! We did!
She finds her bag, likely filled with sweets, and stuffs the sandwich she was making and a water bottle into it. Then she does the same for the three others.
âOh, youâre making lunch for everyone.â She observes.
âYeah, everyoneâs running a bit late this morning and Iâm ready. So, might as well.â
Jane smiles, âIâm proud of you. Thatâs really sweet.â
Anne immediately flushes and thanks her bashfully, she never did get used to the praise.
Kitty then runs into the room, claiming she is ready to go.
Her outfit is a little different today. But, also, Kittyâs outfits are always a little different. Today itâs red lumberjack pattern leggings and a green sweater. There are several silver accessories that compliment her choker with a silver âKâ charm hanging off of it. Her hair is in a messy bun, unlike yesterday when it was straightened.
âJeez kid, is it Christmas already?â
Jane rolls her eyes at Anneâs comment. âI think you look cute, good job Kit.â
The girl beams at the compliment. Her sense of style has been a way of expressing autonomy, a way of showing that she has full control over her body. Jane is incredibly proud that the girl has found something to help her deal with her past trauma in a healthy way. Even if it means questionable but admittedly cute fashion choices.
Cathy and Anna pass by Jane, grabbing their lunches with a quick thanks to Anne. Anna is holding her wallet, so Jane supposes it was in fact in the pocket of her hoodie. Cathy grabs a to-go cup and fills it with coffee.
âCathy, thank you for being the only one to not scream for me this morning. Iâm proud. But have we got any sugar for your coffee?â
Jane doesnât remember buying any, but she does recall running out yesterday.
âI picked some up on the way home, itâs in the top left cabinet.â Anna supplies.
âThatâs great, Anna. Thank you.â Jane is using her Proud Mom Voice. Anna also gets a lot of praise from Cathy, who forgot to buy more and was about to have to drink bitter coffee. (Not that she would have minded, but she prefers it to be a bit sweeter during the day. Black coffee is for night time.) She also smiles at Jane for her comment on her independence.
With the coffee made, and everything needed for the day found, itâs time for them all to head out. Anne and Kitty can walk, and Anna drives Cathy to the library on her way to the shelter. Sometimes Jane walks with her cousins to the shop. Sheâll pick up a bouquet for the house or a new plant for the garden and thatâll give her something to do for about a half hour of being home. But today sheâs not feeling up for the walk, even if it is just down the road.
She does a headcount of everyone and mentally goes through the list of things to be done in the mornings. Everyoneâs lunches are made. Anne and her things, Kitty and her choker, Anna and her bag, Cathy and her coffee, Catalina-
Catalina isnât down yet. She drives the other car, so itâs not much of a hold up for the rest. They all attempt to grab something small to eat to take with them as Jane wonders where the oldest queen is.
Her relationship with Catalina is a little different. Catalinaâs the oldest, the most regal and independent, she doesnât need a mother. And while Jane has proudly claimed the mom friend title, she doesnât want to cross any boundaries.
Of course she still checks in on her every once in a while, but sheâs not as forthcoming in the mothering with her. They both seem rather content with the arrangement, seeing as theyâre both the more mature oneâs in the house. They tend to be the one taking care of the others, not being taken care of.
Just as Jane is about to check in to make sure Catalina is alright, the woman arrives amongst the rest. She looks a little happier than usual.
âSorry for the hold up, I was caught up doing something.â
Janeâs about to ask what, but Cathy beats her to it.
âOh, itâs nothing really. Just finished applying for that child care class.â
Everyone cheers. Thatâs something Catalinaâs been putting off for a while now. She hasnât done it yet in fear of being rejected or putting herself in a situation sheâs not prepared for.
But this is a great step! Because Catalinaâs end goal is to open her own daycare center, and having the credentials to back it is super helpful. And sheâs already flushed at the reaction that she got, so maybe that's why when Jane places a hand on her arm and says sheâs proud of her, Catalina freezes.
It was an instinct, honest. Sheâd never do that on purpose, it's quite honestly probably a little patronizing to the woman she holds in such high regard. Itâs just that sheâs been praising all of the rest of the queens all morning and sheâs still in that mindset.
She pulls her hand away slowly, and Catalina shakes her head as if sheâs trying to clear some thoughts, and they move on.
âRight, so, everyone out! Youâll all be late at this rate.â
Jane herds the rest to the door, seeing Catalina linger for a moment. But she catches Jane's eye and seems to brace herself before walking toward the door herself. Jane does not ask if sheâs okay, she doesnât want to overstep again.
âYou all got ready and youâll probably be on time! Great job, love you all, see you later!â
She gets a chorus of âBye Mum!â back from all except one. A common joke among the queens, based on her role in the house. It honestly fills her with pride though, so she never refutes the moniker.
Jane tries to catch Catalina on her way out to wish her a good day; but the woman dodges her and races to her own car, leaving Jane worried she offended her friend.
-
Catalina presses submit and leans back in her chair with a deep breath. This is a big step for her. Itâs a good thing, but itâs also a commitment. It does help with her long term plans though, so sheâs willing to do it.
The class would only take her seven months to complete, and itâs all something sheâs invested in, it shouldn't be this scary to start. But it is, and she canât help but resent that she has no support.
She shakes that thought away as soon as it comes. Of course she has support. The queens are very supportive. She knows that when she tells them she finally applied theyâll all be very happy for her.
Happy, not proud.
She shouldnât feel that way. She should be happy that sheâs been given this second chance, happy that sheâs able to spend it with her loving family. And she is! But she canât help but feel slightly excluded.
âJane!â
Catalina has half a mind to tell them to leave the poor woman alone. Theyâve been calling for her all morning. But she does seem to enjoy that they need her so.
âDown here love, come and get your jacket before you and Kitty are late!â
âJane! I canât find-â
âKitty, I found-â
She could never call for Jane like that. Itâs more than likely sheâd be judged for it. No, sheâs independent. Sheâs the oldest, she doesnât need Jane to take care of her. And honestly she does prefer to take care of herself. Itâs not that that bothers her though.
Itâs just that Jane always seems proud. Consistently, someone in the house is making her proud. Whether it be something small, like making a phone call; or something big, like getting their licenses. Jane always finds something to be proud of when it comes to all of the queens.
All except Catalina.
Sheâs honestly tried everything. Sheâs done the small things like make a big deal out of something menial and then finally doing it, to no avail.
(âCatalina, werenât you supposed to make that call three days ago?â
Catalina bites her lip, hoping.
âYeah, but it was making me nervous so I kept putting it off.â
Thatâs not even a lie. Catalina does in fact have a bit of anxiety surrounding phone calls. But usually she'd rather die than admit a fear. She hopes to receive some sort of reassurance out of this, as sheâd had a rough week and this was pretty difficult. But instead she gets a frown.
âYou shouldnât put stuff like that off. If you need help with a phone call just ask.â)
Then she tried acting out, which truthfully made her feel quite childish and stupid. It didnât work like it seems to work for Kitty or Anne, who Jane seems to have a soft spot for. But theyâre family, Catalina reminds herself, real family.
(âI donât wanna.â
Jane furrows her eyebrows, âWhat do you mean you donât want to? Youâve been asking to cook this for weeks! I even set aside the ingredients.â
âWell, I changed my mind. Iâm not cooking.â
She doesnât get a gentle goading into whatever it is she changed her mind about suddenly, like Cathy or Anna would. No, this bout of unnecessary refusal to help out with dinner just lands her in hot water with Jane, who was already feeling a little stressed.
âAll I ask is-â
Janeâs rant lasted about thirty minutes, and Catalina felt much like a child who was chided for disobedience all night.)
Needless to say, although she does acknowledge it in her head, Jane does not care for Catalina in the way she cares for the others. They do have a friendship, but Catalina does not receive the same type of love.
And itâs fine, totally fine.
Just that Catalina doesnât quite want to face Jane this morning. Because she just did something really significant and if she has to face being treated unequal to the others when she mentions it she might have to go back to bed.
But she is happy sheâs done it now. Itâs like a weight has been lifted off of her shoulders, sheâs been putting this off for so long now that sheâd never thought she would do it. One of the other daycare workers had convinced her yesterday to do it as soon as she got home, and she put it off until this morning. She couldnât just go into work and face that person saying she didnât do it, could she? And so she did.
With that sudden burst of happiness after her anxiety, she prepares to face the chaos waiting for her downstairs. Sheâs already heard them all congregate to the kitchen, maybe she can grab a pop tart before leaving.
âCathy, thank you for being the only one to not scream for me this morning. Iâm proud. But have we got any sugar for your coffee?â
âI picked some up on the way home, itâs in the top left cabinet.â
âThatâs great, Anna. Thank you.â
So, Janeâs in a praising mood this morning. Great.
She walks briskly into the kitchen and moves toward the counter that holds her lunch bag, thanking Anne for packing it this morning. As she does this she apologizes for holding them all up, theyâre clearly all ready to go. She hopes they havenât been waiting long.
âWhat were you doing?â
She glances at Cathy, then starts rifling through her pockets again to find her keys. Sheâs looked for her keys three times now, she knows she has them, but itâs something to focus on.
âOh, itâs nothing really.â She tries to sound nonchalant as she says it. âJust finished applying for that child care class.â
Nothing could have prepared her for the cheers that sound through the room. Everyone seems so happy for her. And Catalina herself is really excited, so itâs nice. Itâs nice to feel people being happy for her, even if sheâs not making anyone proud.
Kitty hugs her, Anna starts talking about the future plans to own a daycare that they can all help with, Cathy congratulates her since she knew how hard it was for Catalina to make that step. Even Anne is smiling at her and pitching ideas for Anna to shoot down.
And then, Catalinaâs heart stops.
Jane puts a hand on her arm, like sheâs seen the woman do to every other person in the house, and tells her sheâs proud. She even looks like she means it, for a moment.
Catalina canât possibly respond, as sheâs never had to respond to that before. Sheâs been trying to make it happen, but she hadnât thought this far ahead. She just freezes and stands still, eyes wide with surprise and slight hope. And then Jane looks slightly regretful, and itâs enough to kill her mood completely.
Of course it was habitual, sheâs been telling people sheâs proud all morning. But she doesnât act like that with Catalina. It wasnât on purpose.
âRight, everyone out!â Catalina doesnât hear the rest of what Jane says as she withdraws her hand. Everyone makes their way out of the front door and says their goodbyes. And once Catalina regains her ability to move, she quickly dodges Janeâs special not caring goodbye to her and practically runs to her car.
Her drive to the daycare usually takes about twenty minutes, itâs not unusual for her to arrive early to help set up. On days like today, where everyone is running late, she gets there with enough time to at least say hello to everyone before they open. But today is a special case. This particular morning, Catalina pulls into the parking lot of a convenience store/gas station and doesnât care if sheâs going to be late.
Hands shaking, she takes the key out of the ignition and stares into space. Jane said sheâs proud of her. Not only that, but Catalina ruined it by freezing up. Maybe she wouldnât have looked so apprehensive and regretful if Catalina had reacted better. Damn.
She tries to recall something to make her feel better. Something to make her at least stable enough to drive. A memory from her maids as a child or something funny from this life, anything at all. But as she goes through her head all she can find is that she canât remember the last time someone was proud of her.
That may have been the first time in either of her lives that anyone has ever told her so.
She takes a deep breath. She needs to stop being so weird about it. It was out of habit, a lapse in character. Itâs not as if Jane actually meant anything by it; Catalina should stop thinking about it. Her heart should stop its longing, sheâs a grown woman. It doesnât matter that she doesnât have that kind of relationship with Jane, theyâre still good friends. She doesnât need Jane to feel that way about her.
God, she wishes that circle of thinking actually worked.
-
Jane worries. Itâs something very known about her. If there was three things that signified Mom Friend to the group, it was her mom-like pride in her family, her hugs (which are soft,warm and inviting to all.), and her ability to inexplicably worry like no other.
Sometimes she frets over the other queens safety. Like when Kitty had wanted to go skydiving and brought Anna with her. Sometimes itâs at night time when she hears walking around. Although when that happens she can usually keep herself in bed if she hears more than one person up at a time. Today, sheâs worried over if sheâs just ruined her perfectly good friendship with Catalina.
She has so much respect for the woman, Jane would never intentionally cause her to feel uncomfortable. If only sheâd just thought it through a bit more. Catalina clearly didnât want the attention. But all Jane could think is that she was just so proud. Catalinaâs been putting that off for so long now, Jane was so relieved to see it happen.
And now sheâs alone, which doesnât stop her worrying.
If anything being alone makes it worse, because now sheâs overthinking what the woman's reaction could have possibly meant for them. Is she going to distance herself now? Will she be upset with Jane for accidentally being condescending? She would have every right to be indignant, Catherine of Aragon does not need to hear the praises of Jane, her former Lady In Waiting.
Itâs been no more than thirty minutes since the others have left for the day, and Jane has already driven herself mad with anxiety. She tires to hum as she tidies the living room, only to feel herself becoming too impatient with the tasks. Then she attempted to watch TV, but ultimately could not focus. It seems today is a job for a bit of a more heavy duty distraction. Usually sheâd work in the yard, but the hum of nature might hut more than help in the focusing department today. So, she picks up her most recent embroidery project and heads off to her bedroom.
She settles in, ready for a long day of avoiding her own thoughts. But the door downstairs opens, pulling her from her work immediately.
Who on earth could that be?
She opens her door and peers down the stairs, thankful that the location of her room allows her to see. Hopefully itâs not a burglar, Jane thinks she couldnât handle that stress today. Not when sheâd dealt with anxiety from yet another harrowing social interaction. Even with the queens, she finds a way to mess up. And they wonder why sheâs an introvert.
The person who has entered their home starts coming up the stairs, and she sees. Itâs only Catalina. Her heart slows in relief for a moment, before she remembers that Catalina is part of why sheâs worrying. Then it shoots right back to the pace it was at before. Jane doesnât close the door, she just makes eye contact with her and offers a smile.
âWhat happened with work?â
Catalinaâs eyes flash an unfamiliar emotion before settling into a passive stare.
âNot feeling up to it today. I called out half way there.â
Now, usually Jane would rush to her fellow queens aid. But after this morning she doesnât want to seem overbearing, so she stays rooted to her spot and keeps her tone even.
âIs there anything I can do for you?â
-
âIs there anything I can do for you?â
If Catalina were anyone else, Jane would be running to help. Sheâd probably insist on calling a doctor and rush her to bed before even hearing whatâs wrong. Then sheâd endure the jokes at her expense for the overreaction.
But Catalina for some reason is not the same, so Jane does not act like that with her.
âNo, Iâm just going to lie down.â
Jane nods, and closes her door. Apparently not seeing the dejection emanating from the other womanâs very posture.
Catalina seriously just needs to make peace with the fact that she isnât one of the others. Sheâs a part of the family, but sheâll never be in with them. If she made peace with this, maybe it wouldnât hurt as much when the examples of her isolation are so plain to see.
Instead of continuing to sulk in front of Janeâs door like a child, Catalina goes to her bedroom to sulk in her own space.
-
Catalinaâs home.
Catalina is home, and Jane is so sure now that sheâs made things weird. They can hardly make eye contact with each other.
She sits back down and aggressively picks up her embroidery project. Focus, focus, focus, focus! Her mind drifts back and forth between her hands moving swiftly through a stitch and her possible damaged friendship with Catalina. She should apologize, she wonât be leaving to focus until she-
Jane is abruptly pulled out of her thoughts by a subtle knock on her door. She knows Catalina is the only other queen home, but she canât help but think that the knock is similar to Kittyâs on a bad day.
âCome in.â
The door opens slightly, and the woman on the other side ones her head in, âJane?â
âYes?â
Thereâs a hesitation, which is probably because Jane has made things irrecoverably weird between them. But eventually after her mental deliberation Catalina steps all the way into the room and softly closes the door behind herself.
When she doesn't speak right away, Jane moves her stuff off of the bed and invites her to sit. After Catainaâs sitting, they both make an attempt to start the conversation.
âIâm sorry if I made you uncomfortable-â
âThank you for saying youâre proud of me-â
They both stop and stare, wide eyed.
âWhat-â
âWhy would you have made me-â
âI just thought-â
âNo! Never, I-â
âWeâve just been such good friends-â
âYes! And so that was nice to hear-â
Jane looks at Catalina, astounded. Had she really been happy about the praise? She says so, but she seemed so put off by it before.
âThen why did you react like it was wrong?â She questions.
She watches Catalina take a breath before providing her own explanation.
âIt just caught me off guard is all. You donât really tend to say things like that to me.â
âI mean, I never thought youâd need it.â
-
Catalinaâs knee jerk reaction is to say she doesnât. But then she stops herself. If this conversation is going to be productive at all, she needs to be honest.
âItâs nice to hear every once in a while, though.â
Jane looks surprised by the admission, as if Catalina has just told her a secret.
âI always thought it would make you uncomfortable.â She murmurs back, although now she sounds like sheâs back in her head.
Catalina gulps, now or never.
âIâve actually been wanting to hear it.â She admits before she can stifle herself.
The other woman is still absolutely shocked; and if at all possible, her eyes get wider.
âWhat?â Jane stammers out in disbelief. Catalina kind of wants the floor to open up and swallow her.
âNot to sound needy or anything!â She rushes. âItâs just that you say stuff like that to the others all of the time, and this is the first time youâve said it to me! And so I got excited but I knew it was just you saying it out of habit so I didnât respond.â
â-Well I would have said it more often to you if Iâd known!â
âBut you didnât know-â
âI was trying to respect your boundaries-â
âI get that, nothing has to change either-â
âHell yes it does!â
Now itâs Catalinaâs turn to be wide eyed in surprise. Sheâs never heard Jane sound so indignant before.
âYouâve- what? Been thinking Iâm just, not proud of you? This whole time?â Thereâs a sense of urgency in the defensive nature of her voice. She needs to know the answer to these questions. So Catalina answers truthfully.
âWell, yes? And you certainly donât have to be. Iâm a grown woman, I donât need to hear that youâre proud of me all of the time.â
She didnât realize sheâd been looking away until Jane grabbed her arm. Itâs a soft touch, reminiscent of the way she held it this morning. When she meets Janeâs eyes all she sees is warmth.
âCatalina, I am so, so proud of you. Every day.â
Catalina opens her mouth to protest, but Jane speaks again before she can.
âIâm sorry I havenât been showing it properly. I thought that youâd be uncomfortable if I treated you the same as everyone else. I have too much respect for you to do that.â
Oh.
âIâll say it more, now that I know youâre okay with it. Alright?â
Catalina can hardly nod, overcome with an indescribable emotion. All she knows is that she feels warm.
They lapse into a comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company. They are good friends after all. Enjoying being around each other is the basis of their friendship, actually.
âHey, Jane?â
âYes?â
âYou know, calling out is really stressful.â She observes.
Janeâs eyes light up in recognition, âAh, yes. What with them asking you questions and your phone anxiety. I imagine itâs very difficult for you.â
She nods bashfully, hopeful once again.
âWell, dear, I am very proud of you.â
List of Differences Between MDZS and CQL/Untamed
I havenât seen a comprehensive list of differences between the Modao Zushi novel and Chengqingling/The Untamed. Someone in one of my Discordâs asked earlier today, and in reply, myself, Joythea, @floofz, HeadphonesGal, and mustache apologist compiled this list, based on what we remembered. Iâve reproduced that list here with permission of the people involved in the conversation. Iâve tried to include what happens in both the novel AND CQL for each item, but in general, the list was more written as, âhere are things that happened in CQL that didnât happen or happened differently in the novel,â with an eye toward explaining it to someone familiar with the novel but not with the live action adaptation.Â
Note that this contains...like...all the spoilers. Also, I am not an expert on either the novel or the live action, though Iâm better acquainted with the second. As a group we did our best to make sure this was accurate, but Iâve transcribed and expanded it for posting and I canât promise I havenât made mistakes. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IâM WRONG and I will amend it (thatâs why I used a read more - so I can make changes without it getting all messed up by reblogs of different versions)!
General Concept/Overarching Differences:
Death, Fierce Corpses, and Puppets: Censorship means that none of the things they hunt in the Untamed are actually dead. Once, theyâre even able to explicitly âfreeâ a group of controlled puppets and they revert to being regular people. At times this means certain events are...extremely poorly...explained, such as what happens to Wen Ning, where itâs never explicitly said that heâs dead - itâs instead implied that Wen Ning was on the verge of death and that Wei Wuxian controlled him and was able to save him. However, though itâs never explicit that there are essentially zombies in CQL, it would be difficult to explain events by any other interpretation. Much like with homosexuality, they flirt as close to what the censors will allows as they can and allow a viewer to infer from there.
The Yin Iron: In the novel, there is no Yin Iron. Wen Ruohanâs motivation for his actions is simply more power and is entirely âhuman.â The Wen donât do demonic cultivation. Xue Yang doesnât have a piece of the Yin Iron, and his ancestor didnât create it (obviously, since it doesnât exist). In the novel, the âFounder of Demonic Cultivationâ is clearly meant to be Wei Wuxian, whereas if the concept of âModao Zushiâ ever came up in the Untamed it would be ambiguous at best who was being referred to, since both Xue Yangâs ancestor and Wen Ruohan could theoretically deserve the title. Since there is no Yin Iron, many of the things ascribed to the Yin Iron obviously donât happen, nor does it drive the plot in the âpast,â nor does it play a part in the death of Xuanwu, nor is it what Wei Wuxian uses to craft the Stygian Tiger Amulet.
While this isnât explicit, it seems (at least to me) like everyone is a few years older in CQL than they are in the novel. For example, in the novel, the Lectures start when the young cultivators are all 15 - 16 years old. That...doesnât really fit with how they look in CQL? I personally think theyâre more like 17 - 18 in CQL, and then events proceed from there. However, their ages arenât stated in CQL canon so this is open to interpretation.
Technically, WangXian is subtext in the Untamed, by the slimmest of obfuscations. Seriously, itâs so borderline to being canon that calling it subtext is slightly ridiculous but since itâs never ACTUALLY explicit...I guess that makes it subtext. Also, ya know, thereâs porn in the novel.
Characters and Characterizations:
Mo Xuanyu: Mo Xuanyu isnât gay in the Untamed, unlike in the novel. In the novel, itâs said that Mo Xuanyu falls out of favor with the Jin clan because heâs made inappropriate sexual advances on Jin Guangyao. In the Untamed, the implication is that he made similar advances on Qin Su. In both, itâs also implied these werenât the real reasons but itâs also never explained what actually did happen. Also, in the novel, he favors wearing thickly caked makeup to obscure his appearance (and subsequently Wei Wuxian does the same) whereas in CQL while makeup is mentioned heâs basically only ever shown or discussed as wearing a mask.
Wei Wuxian/Mo Xuanyu: In the novel, Mo Xuanyu sacrifices himself and Wei Wuxian takes over his body. However, in the Untamed, Wei Wuxian is more...reborn?...whole, in his own appearance (the logistics of this, or if he was ever dead, or where he was if he WAS dead, are never explained). He wears a mask because if he didnât, everyone would (and ultimately does) recognize him.Â
Wei Wuxian: In the novel, doing demonic cultivation clearly twists Wei Wuxian and some of his actions are either accidental but still his fault, or intentional. For example, the torture of Wen Chao is intentional and brutal, and the loss of control of Wen Ning at Qiongqi Path is accidental but still his fault - a result of his hubris and poor decisions. In CQL, a second flute is played at Qiongqi pass and also when Wei Wuxian fights the cultivation clans outside the Nightless City - both of the major times when Wei Wuxian ostensibly loses control. Though Wei Wuxian himself thinks itâs his fault, itâs actually not - the person responsible is Su She - and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji eventually learn this. However, CQL does still show Wei Wuxian being changed by the resentment. His temper is more volatile and his trust more limited; for example, he loses his temper with A-Yuan at one point, which doesnât happen in the novel.
Lan Wangji: differences in Lan Wangjiâs characterization are a little harder to quantify but in general in CQL he seems more open/expressive/comfortable in his own skin, and less prone to anger. For example, when he steals Wei Wuxianâs first kiss on Phoenix Mountain in the novel, he loses his temper and destroys an entire grove of trees. This...would not be in character for Lan Wangji in CQL (and of course they donât kiss in CQL). However, putting it in definitive terms is complicated. For another difference, in the novel, Lan Wangji confronts the cultivation clans to protect Wei Wuxian, and thus is given 33 strikes with the discipline whip. In CQL, his actions are more ambivalent in Wei Wuxianâs defense...certainly, he doesnât stand against everyone else in a pitch to save Wei Wuxianâs life...but heâs still explicit enough for Lan Qiren, who has him beaten 300 times with a stave. (the end result is still âcovered in scars,â just different punishments.)
Jiang Yanli: Jiang Yanliâs role is expanded from the novel. She accompanies her brothers to the Lan clan Lectures, and she carries a sword, implying sheâs a cultivator, though she never uses it. The back-and-forth related to her engagement to Jin Zixuan is also expanded. Furthermore, sheâs with her brothers when they flee Lotus Pier, and at Wen Qingâs outpost when they are in hiding, for at least part of the time. (but not enough of it to be involved in the Golden Core transfer). The overall result is that she feels much less âfridgedâ in CQL than she did in the novel (or at least, thatâs how it felt to me - obviously, some of these bullet points are subjective to varying extents).
Luo âMianmianâ Qingyang: In the novel, sheâs a member of an independent cultivation sect and sheâs first introduced during the Wen Clan indoctrination. In the Untamed, sheâs a Jin clan disciple and she attends the Lan clan Lectures, and is shown to have a good relationship (friendship, not romantic) with Jin Zixuan. She later renounces her membership in the Jin clan when the clans turn against Wei Wuxian after the end of the Sunshot Campaign.Â
Wen Ruohan: In the novel, heâs just a badass mo-fo power hungry pain in the ass. In CQL he is a demonic cultivating megalomaniac who uses the Yin Iron to be, like, Comic Book Evil.
Wen Qing and Wen Ning: Unlike in the novel, where Wen Ning is introduced outside of Lotus Pier, and Wen Qing is introduced after Wen Ning needs a place to hide Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian, in the Untamed, Wen Qing and Wen Ning attend the Lan clan Lectures. Wen Qing is there under instructions from Wen Ruohan to seek the Yin Iron; he blackmails her by threatening Wen Ning. Furthermore, Wen Ning is unusually susceptible to spiritual influence as a result of an encounter with the Dafan Mountain Goddess/Fairy statue when heâs a child. The statue kills their parents and starts to drain him, but Wen Qing saves him. Sheâs not able to heal the damage to him, though, and itâs implied this is part of why itâs possible for Wei Wuxian to raise him using demonic cultivation. Wen Qing in particular has a much greater role in CQL, and she has a romantic subplot with Jiang Cheng. She bears a sword, and sheâs also shown to do spellwork and influence people using acupuncture needles.
Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen: In the novel, we first meet them at Yi City, when their story is already tragic. In CQL, they are introduced right after the Lan Lectures, and are therefore older.
Xue Yang: As with Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen, he is introduced earlier in CQL than in the novel. In CQL, he also possesses a piece of the Yin Iron that he manages to keep hidden and a secret despite multiple attempts by different parties to obtain it (itâs hinted at times that heâs in cahoots with Wei Wuxian, but this is just a character smear). His ancestor created the Yin Iron, and heâs known to be an expert on demonic cultivation.
Meng Yao/Jin Guangyao: Meng Yao is introduced much earlier in CQL than he is in the novel, as we see him when the Nie cultivators are welcomed to the Lan lectures (and weâre shown upfront and immediately that Lan Xichen treats him more respectfully than most others do). In the novel, we donât find out much about the evil things heâs done until Wei Wuxian does Empathy on Nie Mingjueâs head; in CQL, more of that is shown âon screenâ as it occurs. For example, heâs shown conspiring with Xue Yang in the Unclean Realm, and right after that is when Nie Mingjue catches him slaughtering another officer (which none of the other characters know about). He also saves Nie Mingjueâs life during that scene, painting him as morally ambiguous and complicated from a very early point. We also âseeâ as it happens the incident in right after the fall of Nightless City, where Nie Mingjue goes to kill Meng Yao and is prevented by Lan Xichen, and there are more explicit indications that heâs manipulating Jin Guangshan and is involved in the plot to turn everyone against Wei Wuxian.
Ouyang Zizhen: Ouyang Zizhen appears only briefly in the novel, during the Yi City arc. In CQL he has a much expanded role and is a pretty much perpetual fourth to Jin Ling, Lan Sizhui, and Lan Jingyi (especially post Yi City). Heâs present most of the times they meet, and involved in Jin Lingâs confrontation with Wen Ning, and is present at the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, where he intervenes with his father on behalf of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. And heâs one of the best beans.
Sequence of Events:
In the novel, when Wei Wuxian awakes at Mo Manor, the Lan clan disciples come and they find an evil left arm that kills and possesses people. In CQL, they find a sword that does the same. This leads to changes throughout the plot in what, exactly, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are searching for. In the novel, they pursue the pieces of Nie Mingjueâs body to various sites. In CQL, they instead are led to the same sequence of places by a sword spirit which turns out to be Baxia.
When Mo Xuanyu raises Wei Wuxian in the novel, Wei Wuxian has three curse scars representing three people that need to die: Madam Mo, Mo Ziyuan, and...one of the servants I think? In CQL, Wei Wuxian has a fourth cut that represents a fourth person he must kill: Jin Guangyao.
Because the risen dead donât exist in the Untamed, the Dafan Mountain Goddess/Fairy statue incident plays out a little different. For example, Wei Wuxian doesnât figure out whatâs happened by observing graves, he figures it out by seeing âspirit grass.â However, the outcomes are essentially the same from a plot point of view.
In CQL, the extended flashback to the lectures starts right after Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian meet (right after Wen Ning is summoned and then flees). I donât remember exactly how the timeline/intermingling of narratives from different points in times is structured in the novel but I know itâs different. They spend far longer in the âpresentâ before going to the past, and jump back and forth a bit more too.
In CQL, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji have an early bonding period during the lectures (the lectures over all get more attention/time than in the novel) when they are drawn into a cave in the backhills that they enter through the cold spring. Within, thereâs a guqin and a bunch of rabbits and the...spiritual embodiment?...of Lan Yi, who is introduced as the first female leader of the Lan Clan, a close friend of Baoshen Sanren, and the creator of the Chord Assassination Technique. Lan Yi acquaints them with the existence of the Yin Iron. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji also engage in a symbolic hand-fasting during this scene. In the show, this is where the bunnies come from; Wei Wuxian doesnât capture them and bring them as âpresentsâ like he does in the novel.
In CQL, between the Lectures and the Sunshot Campaign, Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng, and Nie Huaisang do some night hunting together. Among other things, during this time they meet Xue Yang, Xiao Xingchen, and Song Lan, when Xue Yang slaughters the Chang clan. This obviously has major implications for the role and age of these characters in CQL versus in the novel, when none of the three are met until Yi City. This time spent night-hunting is also when the flower spirit mini-side plot takes place, but it doesnât get much screen time and isnât as prominent as in the novel, nor is the entire âWei Wuxian woos her where no one else didâ thing a feature of the show. Also, they encounter the Dafan Mountain Goddess at this time.
The Wen Clan attacks Cloud Recesses in the novel because of perceived improprieties, and Lan Wangji is injured while trying to protect the library. Lan Xichen disappears, and Clan Leader Lan is killed. In CQL, Clan Leader Lan is already dead at this point and Lan Xichen is in charge of the clan (while itâs never explicit, itâs implied that the age gap between Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji, and between Nie Mingjue and Nie Huaisang, is greater in the show than it is in the novel). When Wen Xu attacks, they hide in the cave where Lan Yi appeared to Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, but the disciples who arenât members of the Lan specifically canât enter, so Wen Xu begins to massacre them. To prevent that, Lan Wangji emerges, and thatâs when his leg is broken. (Su She is also prominent in this scene in CQL, but heâs not in the novel.)
During the Indoctrinations, in CQL itâs shown that Wei Wuxian is afraid of dogs after Wen Chao locks him in a dungeon room with one. This also serves as bonding time with Wen Ning, who helps Wei Wuxian with medicine that Wen Qing has provided. This scene doesnât take place in the novel; in the novel Wei Wuxianâs fear of dogs is almost entirely shown through his interactions with Fairy.
Also during the Indoctrinations in CQL, thereâs a lot of friction between Wen Chao and Wen Qing because Wen Qing keeps trying to help the prisoners in small ways. In the novel, Wen Qing hasnât been introduced at this point in the story.
Wei Wuxianâs Death: In the novel, Wei Wuxian retreats to the Burial Mounds, the clans unite against him, storm the Burial Mounds, and kill him - Jiang Cheng gets credit for the kill, but in actuality, Wei Wuxian's own resentment-controlled undead tear him apart when his magic backfires. (see this comment for more info) In the Untamed, after a battle outside the Nightless City, Wei Wuxian realizes how wrong everything has gone, destroys the Stygian Tiger amulet, and throws himself from the mountain. Despite a âteaseâ that Jiang Cheng stabbed him, itâs later shown that no, Wei Wuxianâs death was suicide despite Lan Wangji trying to save him and Jiang Cheng deciding not to stab him.
Wen Chaoâs Death: While itâs implied in CQL that Wei Wuxian has been tormenting Wen Chao, itâs nowhere near as explicit as in the novel. Itâs loosely suggested in CQL that perhaps Wen Chaoâs condition when Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji find him is the result of fear and self-neglect - basically that Wei Wuxianâs torment is causing Wen Chao to hallucinate frightening things. Instead of, you know, Wei Wuxianâs torment causing him to eat himself.
In the novel, Wei Wuxian is dead for 13 years. In CQL, heâs dead for 16 years.
Wei Wuxianâs resurrection: In the novel, because Wei Wuxian doesnât look like himself, he doesnât realize that Lan Wangji has recognized him because he played WangXian, so he engages in multiple behaviors to try to disgust and drive Lan Wangji away (all of which fail, of course, because Lan Wangji knows the truth). In CQL, because Wei Wuxian looks like himself, when he wakes up without his mask in Cloud Recesses he immediately knows that Lan Wangji has recognized him and thereâs no further mystery in that regard (except for how Lan Wangji recognized him while he WAS masked, which is the same in both - because of the song). (Lan Xichen also subsequently recognizes him while heâs masked, at an earlier point than he does in the novel unless Iâve badly misremembered. Which is always possible).
The Yi City arc is quite different between the two. Honestly, I skip the most painful parts of the Yi City arc, including the entire flashback sequences, because I knew theyâd fuck me up right good without being worth it, so Iâm not able to go into depth here, but. Some examples include:
Because in CQL, Xiao Xingchen, Song Lan, and Xue Yang were introduced during the âpastâ timeline, theyâre considerably older than in the novel.
Due to censorship, A-Qing is not a spirit as she is in the novel. Instead, sheâs still alive but sheâs had her tongue torn out and been blinded by Xue Yang. She ultimately sacrifices her life to help Wei Wuxian et al kill Xue Yang.
In CQL, itâs shown that Xiao Xingchen would leave a sweet on Xue Yangâs pillow every day, and when Xue Yang dies the last gifted sweet falls from his hand.
(if anyone reading this wants to help flesh it out please do chime in because I know itâs incomplete but I Cannot with that bit of the story.)
During the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, in the novel, after Wei Wuxian paints himself with the lure talismans, he and Lan Wangji are on the verge of being overpowered when the corpses of the Wen clan members that Wei Wuxian saved rise from the blood pool and help protect them. In CQL, the Wen clan members are hung by the Jin clan and left for the birds outside of the Nightless City, so they could never have been in the blood pool, even if such a thing would have made it past censors (which it never would have).
The novel contains pornographic content, including an illicit kiss that Lan Wangji steals from Wei Wuxian during the Phoenix Mountain hunt, and actual sex, with their first time being before the confrontation at Guanyin Temple.Â
During the Guanyin temple confrontation, in the novel thereâs extensive discussion of Jin Guangyaoâs childhood in the brothel, including information about his mother and why he spared Sisi as opposed to all the other prostitutes. Further, itâs explicit that the Guanyin temple has been built on the site where that brothel used to stand and that the coffin Jin Guangyao is digging up is meant to contain his motherâs body. The entire temple is dedicated to her. In CQL a lot of this is simply not explained or left ambiguous.
In the novel, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are married and return to Cloud Recesses. In CQL, they travel together for a time, part ways, and then are reunited. Lan Wangji becomes the Chief Cultivator, replacing Jin Guangyao.
...thatâs everything we came up with. Alright, everyone, whatâd we miss? :D
