something that I've been seeing which really annoys me is people talking about critically panned franchise movies by saying that they only got bad reviews because the critics aren't fans of the franchise but like. maybe you like it because you already have an emotional attachment to the characters

I'm a mario fan but I'll be the first to admit that the mario movie is sanitized and boring as sin if you're not already a fan. and like. it's okay to admit that you like something because it's part of a franchise you like. it's okay to like a movie that is corporate or cliche or even bad like that's fine you don't have to pretend there's some conspiracy against a massive corporate franchise like it's fine. fnaf didn't get panned because critics are plotting against gamers they panned it because it's a boring incoherent movie
