Brain demands a dp x dc prompt.
So I shall answer.
Just recently there has been an urban legend. Every single night, without fail, in the same time down to the dot- there will be a specific radio channel that will transmit a bone-chilling message.
Help. SOS. Help. S C R E A M- NO N O- (And then a series of numbers, shakily said) (a sob)
This has started since about one month or two ago.
Tim has been notified by one Bernard, and searching through the Batcomputer yielded little results. Jason happened to be behind him when Tim was researching, and between them, there were several things to be noted. Speaker sounded young, like in the middle of puberty. 13 years old is probably the youngest estimation, 19 being the oldest. Male. Doesn’t seem like acting, the message sounds too real. Amongst other things, prolly, since. Detectives.
Time passes, and they got a pinpoint of location that was oddly blacked out by the government itself. Hm. Suspicious.
So Jason, the one who’s still legally dead, no one would look for him (aside from Batfam and some), no one has expectation on his image considering he’s legally dead, took off, maybe with his team of Outlaws or nah, to get to the location.
What they found was a ghost town with many scars in Midwest, and a shade (ghost??) of a young man wearing glasses and beret who would appear in the radio station of this small town to air his (town’s) plight.

DCXDP prompt : 4? 5? Whatever.
Yk how we all collectively at some point in our minds Killed Amity Park and made Danny get Adopted by the Wayne's? You can't deny. Anyways this is not that— the only thing here is the Danny gets adopted by the Wayne's part with little additions.
Danny Fenton's Parents Jack and Maddie Fenton going to Jail for Obvious Child Neglect & Attempted Murder + Child Abuse(Vivisecting Danny). Danny and Jasmine are far too young for this. Dan and Dani are de-aged and are acting like Danny's Twin(Dan) and little sister ofcourse. It depends if Dan is there, cuz in most of my AUs he's redeemed but that's not the same for everyone.
Ages:
Dani : 7-8
Danny : 15
Dan : 15
Jazz : 17
Anyways Imma just...
Imma start this with a chapter like prompt because I don't know much on how to actually make a descriptive prompt and more of a go with the flow type of— yeah imma just write:
Danny held onto Jazz's arm as if it was his last line of Sanity, he hasn't been able to sleep due to nightmares of Jack and Maddie's Cruelty, Understandably enough Jazz had Danny in her lap clutched to her chest in her arms. Her Gaze hard and serious, ready to defend and talk without mercy to whoever talks to her that she didn't trust. Apparently Jack had a distant cousin, Bruce Wayne assigned as a God Father as well.
Jazz held onto Danny's hands sharing her warmth that contrasted to the cold temperate of Danny's body. He buried himself further into her chest yearning for more of her warmth shutting out the noises he's hearing as they sat in the courtroom. The judge soon in between the two billionaires, Vlad Masters and Bruce Wayne, the Judge asks softly, with their gentle voice to Jazz.
Jazz looks up her hardened gaze that seemed frantic and anxious immediately softening upon looking up at the trusted adult, "Tell me Jasmine, I will give you the option to choose." The judge finally says, "But—" Vlad tried to protest but was immediately shut down. Dan shifted uncomfortably and holding onto Danny and Jazz's arm desperately, also anxious. He does not want to be with Vlad. Dani was in his lap also trembling. The siblings are all anxious and Jazz is the only one they could trust to make the decision.
Dan looked up at Jazz, her eyes tainted with darkened eye-bags due to nightmares as well but she's staying strong for her baby siblings. ".... I choose the safest option..." Jazz started with a sigh, looking down for a moment at Danny who looked exhausted and reliant to Jazz's warmth. "I choose Bruce Wayne." She looked up with a determined gaze at Bruce and the Judge. "JASMINE—". Vlad started to protest and whipping his head to Jazz's seat.
Jazz felt, Dan and Dani flinch, Jazz grit her teeth, "Shut up Vladimir Masters. You are not gonna be me and my sibling's guardian. Never in my life will I let that happen." She breathes out, despite her form trembling a trusted adult placed their hand on Jazz's shoulder allowing jazz to relax knowing she and her siblings are protected. "Very Well." The judge merely says hitting the Gavel made of hardwood on the sound-block placed on the judge's table hence announcing the final decision.
It all went too fast, well too fast for the Fenton's to now new adopted Wayne Siblings, Danny and Dan stuck close to each other, Danny was exhausted and they could all tell by his constant groaning and almost accidentally scratching his not yet healed stitches especially the Scar of his attempted Vivisection. "Shhh...." Jazz just kisses Danny's hair and made them all lean on her body, Dan's Head on Jazz's Lap, Dani in Danny's Lap and Danny's head resting on Jazz's shoulder on the backseat of the car.
Jasmine Jade Fenton, now Jasmine Jade Wayne sighed in relief, feeling her body relax. She eyes the rearview mirror and saw Bruce who was driving them personally, His eyes was soft, a gaze that could only mean care and worry. Jazz stiffened for a moment and analyzed Bruce's Current body language, She could tell he was relieved. She guesses that being able to understand his emotions quite literally is being part of her liminality, being somewhat of an empath helps her understand other's emotions quickly.
"Hey... You guys comfortable back there...?" Bruce softly asked and Jazz nodded and smiled. "Yes... Thank you... Uhm... Sir Wayne." She responds, the hardness of her tone now long relieved as she's successfully kept her family away from Vlad. "Just call me Bruce.." Bruce smiled back and Jazz nodded with appreciation.
Jazz looked down over to her siblings, all fast asleep as they could finally relax their bodies. 'I won't let anyone hurt any of you...' she thinks to herself, tears welling softly down her cheeks. Quickly she wipes them off before Bruce could notice, she took a deep breathe and quivered slightly at the thought of the future.
[End of Prompt(?)]
Edit/Additional:Sam and Tucker are alive, AMITY is alive and ghosts are now in JL tracker but they've become much more peaceful and cooperative and refusing to state who their king is due to his request of "Animosity" (Danny? Or Dan— or Clockwork as a Ghost King Proxy)
I'm someone who adds Dash/Danny ship but here idgf— Sam helps Danny and the others adjust to Gotham(I'm thinking of my HC where she's actually a Gothamite) and Tucker being Tucker, the Tech Geek, emotional support and absolutely loves his PDA
That's all I could think of! This is probably an angsty type of healing, Identity Reveals, Found Family. Hurt/Comfort, angst with a happy ending(?), Familial Love/Platonic Love. :33 have fun with this prompt!
Please tag me if anyone finds a fic like this or someone writes a fic of this! >:33

The Other Side
Batmom x Batman, Batmom x Batfamily
Prompt: While digging through the attic, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd uncover a secret about their adoptive mother. A secret that reveals the true, and dark story of the most loved couple in Gotham City
!!TW!! - MENTIONS OF SA AND OTHER DARK THEMES
Part 1 Part 2 Masterlist
Tumblr media
!!DISCLAIMER!! - This likely won't be comic accurate (Obviously), but I did draw inspiration from the comics. If you are looking for something accurate, then this fanfic isn't for you.
You didn't get a chance to address the deep voice before a cloth was covering your face and the world went dark. A throbbing pain came next when you awoke. You were laying on a very luxurious bed. Looking down, you saw that you were still in your same clothing. Just a silk robe that covered your underwear. Your heart was racing as you looked around the room. Whoever lived here, lived in style. Everything looked as if it would cost you bodily organs to own.
Before the shock could wear off, the two massive double doors opened, and a man walked into the room. A mask covering his face, and his eyes watched you carefully. Your body visibly shrunk as you stared at the intimidating man across the room from you, "Ms. (L/N), I do want to apologize for the rather harsh retrieval of you. We have to take precautionary measures these days." The man said while stepping closer to you. He stepped into the moonlight, and you finally saw every detail of his mask. A golden bird mask...no owl mask. What the hell is going on?
"W-What do you want with me?" You asked, moving off of the bed once he got too close to you. The bed now served as a barrier between you and your kidnapper, but it didn't provide any comfort for you. All you could think of was being raped, and sold on the black market. Gotham City wasn't the safest city, but you never thought this would happen to you. How did this happen? There was always security watching over the bunk area every night to make sure this never happened. How did these men get in to kidnap you? Whatever the reason, you didn't feel safe with the circus anymore.
"To give you a chance...a chance to be apart of something great. My organization works from the shadows to ensure the safety of our beautiful city..." Beautiful isn't a word you would use, but sure, "You possess a talent that could be beneficial to our cause." The man picked up a remote and turned the tv on. What played was several of your acts and some of your rehearsals. All taken from vantage points, and places that you wouldn't have noticed someone watching you, "We've come to realize that our organization is seen as a myth, a boogeyman. Many criminals fear us, and with your talents...we could harness that fear." He stepped around the bed and started making his way towards you once again. The fear you felt kept your legs from moving, so this time he got uncomfortably close to you, "Join us (Y/N). Join us and help us purge Gotham of everything that taints it."
The Court of Owls. One of Gotham's scariest myths. You've heard whispers of them while spending days in the city. Some of your fellow performers even mentioned them once or twice. Everything you've ever heard was never good. This cult believes they are doing the right thing, but are harming so many in the process. You couldn't join them...you couldn't live your life in the shadows. What could ever be so wonderful about someone so full of darkness? It seemed that the man saw what you were thinking, and he backed away, "Such a shame...you would have been such a valuable asset. I'm afraid if you won't join us, then we have to do away with you. You will pose a risk to all of us." The man turned his back towards you, and you knew now was your chance. Grabbing the closest thing to you; a lamp, you hit him over the bed. The man dropped to the ground, and you ran to the window. Luckily you weren't too high from the ground, so you pushed the window open and climbed out.
You could hear voices and yelling as you dashed into the dark, raining city. You hadn't a clue where you were going, but anywhere would be better than this. The circus would be the first place they would look, so you had to find somewhere new. You could hear footsteps behind you as well as some above you. They were after you, and they were fast. Thankfully, your breathing training worked wonders. Still you were no match for these skilled men. They managed to corner you into a dead end alley. This is it. The place where your dead body would be found. It all ended here. The vile smell of puke, piss, and garbage filled your nose as you looked around at the court members closing in on you, "P-Please...I promise I won't tell anyone. Just let me go." You pleaded, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. From behind you were pushed to your knees, and you could see your reflection in the blade meant for your death.
The member lifted the blade up, but before it could meet your skin...a rope wrapped around their wrist. With a scream, they were pulled into the darkness. It felt as if all sound in the city stopped...everything went quiet. You felt fear before, but this was a new level of fear. A fear that you never would forget. A black shadow flew by, grabbing another member. This caused the rest of them to ignore you, and turned their attention to their surroundings. Now would have been the perfect time to run, but your legs were screaming. The adrenaline was wearing off, and it felt like you couldn't move an inch. A bolt of lightning flashed through the sky, right as a shadow covered the alley...a shadow of a bat. The mysterious savior dropped down on one of the members, and a fight broke out. You could only watch in awe as your savior took down every single member without much struggle. Once it was over, the figure turned towards you. Again the lighting allowed you a glimpse of him. The bat symbol of his chest matched the one in the night sky.
"Batman..." You whispered, with relief before your eyes rolled back and you slumped to the ground. Batman walked towards you, and gently picked you up from the ground. He didn't see any visible injuries besides little scrapes on your knees from being pushed to the ground. Even now you were just as beautiful as you were while performing. He held you close and summoned the Batmobile. No hospital in Gotham would be safe enough for you. He needed to take you to the batcave. There you would be safe, and he could question you.
"Alfred, get the med-bay ready. We have a guest." Batman said into his comms, after sitting you in the passenger seat. Your head leaned on the window, but your lips were starting to turn blue. Judging from your attire, you must have been getting ready for bed. With one final look over to make sure you were secure, he raced off into the streets of Gotham to the batcave.

Inspired by "Jason adopts Tim" fics on AO3, prompts by puppetmaster13u & others on here and that one AO3 fic where because Bruce told Jason pre-death he can take whatever is his and Robin is his it's fair game to nab Tim and the AO3 News Article fic where Red Hood decides the best revenge is tricking the world into thinking he's the Third Robin's dad, some of your posts—
—and my love for inhuman folks
Jason resurrects and he isn't human anymore. Dealer's pick on what he is precisely but he has become much more wary of just how fragile the lives of humans are
How fragile his own life may still be
+ he's got trauma piled on top of his fresh instincts and confusion on what happened after his death
Thus when carving his place as Red Hood, he is more vigilant in making Crime Alley a place where people don't just survive, but live and maybe even thrive.
Putting down threats like predators for good in death. But doing so too much will get Batman breathing down his neck
So he takes some inspiration from Batman after his death and before Tim to inflict some fates worse than death, and rubs it in the Bat's face whenever they face of against each other. "It's not killing B"
He tries—and due to trauma—fails to bring himself to kill Joker. Which crushes him with every crime the Joker (that he in a fucked up sense allowed) commits onwards
Onto the next best thing, acquiring wealth and asking for public donations all over Gotham to build up a sufficient bounty on Joker's head to draw in the most competent killers of them all
Whoever can kill and bring the Joker's remains as evidence gets the money, and the bounty price builds up over time
He'll even add more to the bounty time to time
Jason overworks himself on his Crime Alley to the point his own men compare him to a more benevolent Batman, one who doesn't need an emotional support child
"Could you elaborate on that? I had to spend time out of Gotham for a time and don't know what happened during that span of time"
Batman gave Robin to another
But he didn't revoke Jason's ownership, did he?
Humans are oh so fragile
He knows from experience
In classic not-human logic, that makes the new Baby Bird his now, no? Especially with Batman so incompetent as to depend on him
Titans Tower is not found with Tim bloody and broken
Titans Tower is found without Timothy Drake, and countless leads implicating several yet all seemingly frame job dead-ends
Penguins and Red Hood and Luthor. Joker and Two-Face and beyond
Red Hood is found in a meeting room by his men with a Third Robin—the Robin the city owes guilt and more to—in the Crimelords arms
"B always said that I could take what's mine whenever I want, and he never said it never extended to his . . . My kid. He's mine now . . . "
Words spreads in Gotham City. It spreads indeed
It's fitting, it's fitting. Inheritor of another's name, this Robin, this Red Hood is
Joker Junior and every other tragedy only solidifies Jason's resolve to keep and care for the kid
It's funny. Jason has barely felt human since he woke up from death, since he started overworking himself for his people
Now, with a baby brother in his life? With somebody to care for under his roof? Those domestic times he swore were killed alongside the Second Robin?
This is bliss
Jason feels a weight off his chest when his Merry Men sends a message that the Joker is dead, and the bounty has been sent to the killer
When Jason discovers the Fourth Robin, too dead and revived? when he finds her alive at all? Girl is getting snatched and doted on, especially if he finds her after she's had her baby
And I wouldn't be surprised if he tracked down her kid so she could have raise her baby herself and provided all the resources and support nessecery for it
[Daughter and grandchild acquired!]
When Damian comes and the Robin mantle is passed down onto him— yoinked by Jason again!
Damian is fuming because he wasn't told that this was part of being Robin!
=======
"If you're right that Batman is trapped in the timestream, that everyone is wrong about him being dead, before presenting this to the Justice League I think this should be a family discussion.
"Because I know otherwise I'd do everything in my power to let him die for real. Ensure nobody is the wiser that Bat could've been saved.
"And at least one of the Bats will disagree with me. And this is a scenario where everybody needs to have their input accounted for."
Oooh! All of this is fantastic, but I especially love the end.
The end combines a healthier approach to the BruceQuest with a trope I love: leaving Bruce in the timestream because fuck that guy. Regardless of what they decide, I'm glad Jason at least indicated it was an option.
I wonder where Dick and Cass are in all of this. I'm also curious about how Jason would react to the We Are Robins movement. Does he adopt every Robin or just those acknowledged by Batman?

So here’s a unique twist of a common prompt. Danny is the son of Bruce Wayne, whoever his mother is is up to you. However, Danny wants nothing to do with Bruce or his family for whatever reason, whether it’s because Damian treated him badly as a child or maybe he just doesn’t like how Bruce operates. Either way, they meet and the meeting ends badly. What do you think?
There are actually a lot of reasons why Danny might not want to stay with Bruce or stay away from Bruce. There is, of course, the usual "Danny has billionaire trauma" route that works for some arguments (although not all (but I'll leave that ramble for another time)). You could always go with Danny and Damian didn't get along (if we're doing a Demon Siblings AU). But I think the route that goes best is just that... Danny has a lot of Trauma™ and he's not ready to join another family.
Unfortunately those kinds of AUs would probably be the sadder ones because that can mean that he has problems and/or is cut off from Jazz too. Because as much as I love Jazz, she was never the bastion of perfection and older sisterhood that we sometimes like to paint her as. She tried, just like her parents did, and sometimes she failed. ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ
In those AUs Danny is probably trying to live on his own. Maybe he's emancipated, maybe he's turned 18 already (I do have a fic idea where Danny moves out of the house after turning 18 despite not graduating yet, which is a thing you can do. Plenty of kids' birthdays pass before June graduation in the U.S., after all.) He's just started to stand on his own two feet and probably move past the neglect, both physical and emotional, that came with living with the Fentons.
Enter Bruce. Bruce, who has abandonment issues and is one paranoid motherclucker (and yes, that was intentional), who has just found out he has an unknown son from either a past relationship or one-night stand. Of course he's going to want to know more about Danny and catch up on all the time he lost with Danny. And the thing about Bruce is that sometimes he acts like a bad father purely because he doesn't know how to communicate his feelings and does all these things that come off as insensitive and/or overbearing.
Sometimes Danny might be able to make it work. But depending on the downturn his life might have taken... sometimes he can't. And for a Danny that might have just gotten that hard-earned independence... it likely won't be pretty.
---
Danny doesn't know what to make of Bruce Wayne. The man seems nice... enough. He's a bit too excitable, tries a little too hard. It's clear as day that he's trying, much more than Danny's adoptive parents could ever bother to sometimes, but it's... Danny would appreciate it more if Bruce just gave up.
He's happy to see that Bruce didn't willingly give Danny up. No word yet on Danny's bio mom, but at least he's got that going for him. He could do without Bruce's meaningful attempts to introduce him to the rest of the family or find out more about him.
Danny absentmindedly tugs at his collar. He really wishes he'd just turned Sam down when he had the chance. Tucker had balked when she extended the invitation out to him. Usually Danny would be her first choice, since he had some semblance of High Society Table Manners™ which usually Sam wouldn't give a shit about, but well, Tucker had gone once, got embarrassed to hell and back, and pretty much sworn off against it ever since.
He'd only moved out from Fenton Works three weeks ago. Danny could understand why she didn't want to ask him while he got settled in.
But well, she was his friend. And with the risk of her parents trying to openly marry her off to some rich guy (as opposed to subtly trying to marry her off, like they were doing now), Danny had taken one for the team and agreed.
If he knew this was going to happen, he would have just stayed home and figured out how to cook scrambled fucking eggs.
"I'm not very comfortable with this conversation right now, Mr. Wayne," Danny said plainly to the man. They were off in a side room at this point, tucked away from the rest of the crowd that would usually gawk at them otherwise. Already he'd turned heads when people recognized him as familiar.
To be honest though, even if they hadn't gone to a more secluded room, Danny still would have told it to the man straight.
"Oh, is it because your friend isn't here? I told you you're more than welcome to-" Bruce started again but Danny cut him off with a sigh.
"That's not the problem here, Mr. Wayne," Danny deadpanned. "I don't know why you're expecting me to be on board so quickly but I- I just turned eighteen. I have an apartment, I have a job. I know I'm still a kid in your eyes but I haven't been your kid in- ever. No matter what any paternity test ends up saying, which I still haven't agreed to by the way-"
"You're not even willing to try?" Bruce asked in return, like he'd been struck across the face.
It seemed genuine enough, like he was sincerely hurt by Danny's standoffish attitude. And Danny would feel guilty if he weren't so tired right now. He'd been tired for the past four years and he didn't need this on top of it all as some twisted cherry on top of the shitty whipped cream that was his life.
"No, I'm not," Danny told the man, straightforward. People had said no to Bruce before, right? Surely, someone had.
He began to doubt when Bruce just stared at him, dumbfounded. Danny didn't let the silence linger because he didn't linger, just moved on and left the side room. He could feel Bruce's eyes on him as he went, and then some of the other Waynes' eyes on him when he came into view. He ignored all of them and tried to find Sam.
Maybe her parents would even be willing to let him go back to the hotel room, after the huge 'scene' he'd just caused.

If Sarah had known what they were getting themselves into, she at least would have insisted on leaving Omega on Ord Mantell. Letting her be by herself for a while, even if it was enclosed in the Y-Wing with Rigel on standby, would have struck her as safer. Echo and Hunter were bound to return soon, anyway.
Instead, there they were, the entire rest of the squad walking the even seedier streets around the Safa Toma race dome. Sarah thought back to her days as a pirate chilling in Hondo’s lair, and that seemed like a high-end dive bar compared to where they were now. Cid led the way at the front and center, with Sarah at her right side. Sarah kept Omega to her left, behind Cid, figuring that would at least be where the smallest of the group would be most protected. And, bringing up the rear, Tech and Wrecker towered over the three ladies like two bodyguards, fully armored and unafraid of whoever may have so much as hinted at a dirty look their way.
Cid looked over her right shoulder at Sarah and made a brief gesture at her. Sarah picked up her pace and, mindful of still being Omega’s cover in some way, she evened her position with the Trandoshan and leaned in, prompting hushed voices. No one else needed to be listening in.
“Glad ya came,” Cid said. “This pit of filth and scum should be a piece of cake for a former pirate like you.”
Sarah took it as a compliment. “I did see some things over at Hondo’s. Never a riot racing dome.”
“Ya ain’t here for the racing,” Cid pulled to a stop. “I am.”
The multiple speeders tailgating after the other down at the track raced by their area, the revving of their engines rising and then falling. When they were out of sight, Cid faced the crew behind her. “My new racer’s gonna make us enough for two months, at least!”
“Aw, look at you being generous,” Sarah walked up next to Cid, overlooking the racing track with a confident, arrogant little smile. “We’re getting a two month vacation with this pay? I kinda like that.”
Cid chuckled. “Ya know what I mean, Strider, don’t push it.”
As Sarah enjoyed the view and the memories of her scrappy past, Cid looked around the crowd, wary, though it didn’t seem there was anyone targeting her or her companions. There may have just been one face among the crowd with particularly unfriendly eyes looking her way… or perhaps not?
At the possibility, Cid scrambled past the clones and led the way again. “We should head down to meet Tay-0. We’re not ‘ere to spectate.”
Sarah picked up on the sudden change of pace as well as the way Cid suddenly became more tense, and she walked up to Wrecker first, grasping his forearm lightly.
“Whatever happens, prioritize Omega, will you?” Sarah whispered.
“You don’t have to tell me twice,” Wrecker nodded.
Sarah smiled softly, appreciative of Wrecker’s reassurance—he was a pillar of strength, and not just physically. She then hurried to the front next to Cid, and she leaned in again, more secretive than before.
“If we’re to keep hell from breaking loose, you need to tell us who to look out for,” Sarah told Cid.
“You got good instinct,” Cid muttered. “You call the shots.”
Sarah couldn’t help but pull back at Cid’s words, her eyebrows raised and eyes widened.
“What?” Cid questioned.
Sarah chuckled. “Nothing. Just that… well, you’ve got a damn good right hand in me.”
Cid’s shoulders relaxed, and her lizard-like features seemed to adopt a hint of a smile. “Yeah, I don’t doubt that.”
Sarah smiled softly, oddly proud to be the one Cid recognized as in charge on the mission. But Sarah took such a responsibility seriously, and for the rest of the way, her gaze was ever-vigilant and aware of any pair of eyes that fell on them.
The squad made it down to the sidelines of the racing tracks without difficulty. The speeder that belonged to Cid’s infamous racer seemed prominent while it was parked on the sidelines, and Omega instantly ran towards it, eyes big with curiosity. Tech followed closely behind, already pulling out his datapad, no doubt wanting to check his own records to get a better grasp of what the vehicle was and, of course, how to improve it.
As Sarah watched Tech go about his business, she smiled softly at the sight of him so expertly making his way around the speeder.
“Many modifications have been made, that is for sure,” Tech was explaining. “A speeder of this caliber was not built for racing conditions, neither speed or weapon-wise.”
“Um, ahem!”
Every pair of eyes that had gathered around the speeder turned in the same direction when a male and slightly mechanized voice filled their ears. A tall, thin-looking droid was approaching them, its strut almost as confident as if it were human. When it was just in front of the crew, its hands flew to its metal hips and it leaned forward slightly, indignant.
“Who so disrespectfully criticizes my vehicle?” The droid bellowed.
“It is not criticism, it is an evaluation,” Tech said as he raised the visor of his helmet and looked at the droid, his expression clearly visible through his goggles. “Do you manage this vehicle for the racer?”
“I am the racer,” the droid said.
Everyone then looked at Cid, who walked up to the droid and slapped its back.
“This is Tay-0, my own little money-maker,” she introduced.
“At your service,” Tay-0 took a light bow.
Meanwhile, Tech looked over at Cid, skeptical. “Your runner is a droid?”
“Hey, human!” Tay-0 walked up to Tech and challenged him. “Do you think you have the mental capacity to make a split-second calculation required in the heat of a race?”
“He does, actually,” Sarah chimed in, smirking over at Tech.
Though his helmet covered most of his face, the way Tech’s eyes glistened as they hovered over to Sarah and lingered only for a second didn’t escape her. Regardless, his gaze was back on Tay-0, firm, yet sincere.
“I do not have the background or knowledge of the sport to provide an answer,” Tech said. “However, I have made split-second calculations in battle amidst blaster fire, which is not the same as racing, but similar in that there is an imminent threat that must be addressed swiftly to ensure victory. Perhaps my experience will enrich yours, and yours may enrich mine.”
“All I want to hear is praise, human boy,” Tay-0 dismissed. “So if it ain’t that, I don’t want to hear it.”
The droid waltzed off and retired into the garage, moving the speeder in towards it. Meanwhile, Sarah approached Tech from behind, her hand landing over his shoulder.
“Well, he seems delightful,” she scoffed.
“I am curious,” Tech said. “If machinery eliminates human error, does that mean the ideal racer is a droid? What is Tay-0’s margin of error, and how does it compare to that of the organic racers? If his win-rate is not 100%, does his droid nature influence who he loses to? In other words, does he only lose to droids who can perform similarly quick calculations? And this raises a different question—we are now adding a different factor to success in a race: the vehicle, the ability of the racer, their organic nature or lack thereof, and in the latter case, who has the better programming. This has potential to be truly fascinating to analyze.”
“Well, I don’t really like this place,” Sarah briefly squeezed the plastoid on Tech’s shoulder—she particularly enjoyed the sound of Tech’s voice modulated by his helmet and was grateful he’d given her such a speech in it, “but now I’m hoping we stick around long enough for you to answer all those questions.”
Tech faced her, his eyes softening over his goggles. “That was quite a compliment you gave me a moment ago.”
Sarah smiled at him. “And there’s plenty more where that came from.”
“Look alive,” Wrecker called from behind, instantly drawing Tech and Sarah’s attention to the group of people who were approaching them.
The group was led by a large Dowutin male and followed by three other figures, of whom one was a Gamorrean guard, and the other one had a recognizable face since it was plastered on multiple posters around the racing dome—it was Jet Venim, another one of the racers.
“Cid,” the Dowutin called out. “You didn’t tell me you were back around. I resent you for not telling me.”
“Millegi,” Cid acknowledged. “That’s ‘cuz I wasn’t really plannin’ on seein’ ya.”
“Well, that’s on you, since you know this is my turf,” Millegi said as he got a quick glance at Sarah and the others. “Got a new crew there. Aren’t you gonna introduce us?”
“Their names are non’ya business,” Cid crossed her arms.
Towering over everyone else, Millegi scanned the crew standing guard behind Cid, and his gaze landed on Sarah, who stared back at him, unwavering.
“Nice tattoos,” he said to her.
Sarah tilted her head slightly and opted to use her charisma rather than anger a prominent gambling figure of Safa Toma.
“Thanks,” she smirked. “Made ‘em myself.”
“I once heard an old friend talk about someone who looked like you,” Millegi paced closer towards her—it didn’t escape him the way the two clones tensed as he did. “A pirate who graced her gang with her presence, but then left too soon, and all to be a heroic soldier, only to never be heard of again. You’re her, aren’t you?”
Sarah scoffed ever so softly.
“Hondo’s Sarah Adhara,” Millegi concluded and brought the large cigar up to his mouth, taking in a large inhale before lowering it once more, exhaling. “You’re a legend. What will the Ohnaka gang think when they hear their prized jewel played a part in losing a bet against Millegi?”
Sarah knew a signal of deference was in order, one that was just daring enough to also establish a certain territory, a relationship of mutual respect rather than to let Millegi know he stood before a doormat. Sarah paced forward slowly with a subtle sway of her hips, her back straight and features calm as she reached her hand out and took the cigar from Millegi. Without breaking eye contact even to blink, Sarah took a long inhale from the cigar and removed it from her lips, blowing the smoke out through her nose and letting it flow up in front of her face, and at last, her lips curved slightly when faint expressions of satisfactions were heard coming from Millegi’s crew. Towering over her, Millegi smirked at Sarah’s gesture.
“If my reputation precedes me, then you know I don’t want trouble,” Sarah said, handing him the cigar back. “Surely, you have bigger fish to fry than a mercenary and her new crew. We don’t deserve such attention.”
“I beg to differ,” Millegi spoke. “Your racer’s going up against mine, and Cid and I have some unfinished business. That’s enough of a premise to strike a deal.”
Millegi then looked over Sarah’s shoulder at Cid with an aura of confidence. “I was thinking of giving you more of a run for your money, but I won’t ignore such a warm introduction,” he glanced at Sarah briefly, then back at Cid. “Let’s leave it at our usual wager, how’s that? For old times’ sake?”
Though she tried, Cid couldn’t mirror Millegi’s confidence, and her chest shrank as she crossed her arms.
“Alright, deal,” Cid spoke.
Sarah briefly glanced at Cid, painfully aware that the stakes had just been raised.
“Well, this will be fun,” Millegi said as he began to turn around, his gaze lingering on Sarah for a moment before he left.
Sarah followed him with her eyes as he and his crew left, and when they were out of sight, Sarah rushed over to her own team.
“Knew you’d be great here,” Cid placed her hands on her hips, smirking at Sarah. “You actually got Millegi to soften up.”
“The point was to be off the hook,” Sarah said. “But you still accepted the bet.”
“You know as well as I do you don’t just say no to a bet with someone like Millegi,” Cid countered.
“In case you haven’t noticed, you have muscle too,” Sarah gestured at Tech and Wrecker.
“Will ya ease up?” Cid grinned. “I know what I’m doin’. Tay-0’s gonna win, and Millegi’ll respect the wage. Win-win.”
“This droid better be the best damn racer in the galaxy for what I just did,” Sarah crooned.
“Which you pulled off great, kid,” Cid congratulated. “Now come on, when have you not been able to trust me? I always come through for ya.”
Sarah found it in herself to chuckle. Cid did have a point, and there had been multiple times where she’d indeed come through for them, for her, from the Y-Wing and Rigel to those nights spent talking over a glass of aged Corellian whisky.
“For now, enjoy the race,” Cid said. “We got some money to win.”
Cid went over to the speeder with Wrecker and Omega following after her, and Omega stopped briefly in front of Sarah, looking up at her with stars in her eyes.
“You were so cool just now!” Omega beamed.
Sarah chuckled. “Yeah…” she kneeled down and crouched slightly to be just below Omega’s eye level. “Listen, as long as we’re in Safa Toma, do as I say, not as I do. Got it?”
“Yes, mom,” Omega winked, then followed after Wrecker.
Sarah felt a tingling in her marks. She’d never heard Omega call her that… but the words rang sweetly in her mind, and teasing as it was, she’d accept it.
As Sarah was standing up, Tech walked up behind her. He’d removed his helmet and was hugging it beside him, and when he made eye contact with Sarah, his eyes were slightly widened in pleasant surprise.
“That was unexpected,” Tech said.
“Yeah,” Sarah’s voice was soft. “Wait, what are you talking about?”
“Your cigar stunt,” Tech answered.
“Oh! Right, that…” She turned a right angle to face Tech, gazing up at his goggled eyes. “Well? What do you really think about that?”
Tech shrugged. “That was very…”
“Yes?” Sarah prompted, smirking at the plethora of ways in which Tech could possibly admit his feelings at that very moment.
“Unhealthy,” Tech spoke.
Sarah couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, fair. Yes, that’s why I don’t do it often. I picked up the habit for about a month while at Hondo’s, but that’s it.”
“Dangerous,” Tech added.
“I like to think of it as calculated,” Sarah challenged. “You have to take some sort of a risk to establish your presence in places like these, but it looks like it went well.”
Ignoring Sarah’s explanations, Tech finally looked her in the eyes, his lips parting just enough for his teeth to bare with silent hunger. “And… absolutely, exquisitely enticing.”
Sarah cooed with a little wiggle of her shoulders. “Well, well.”
“Yes, in fact,” Tech leaned in close and hushed his voice. “I’m beginning to think we should have brought your outfit from the Old Ord Mantell ruins.”
Sarah gasped in a fake scandal. “Egads, Tech!”
“The brasier and skirt perfectly accentuate your best assets,” Tech justified his thesis.
“Come now,” Sarah teased. “We both know that’s just for you and me.”
Time wore on and the racers made their way to their speeders, even the arrogant droid Tay-0, and while he was off racing, Sarah and the others gathered around to watch, and not an ounce of suspense was spared.
Why the sport's name included the word "riot" became obvious the moment the speeders dashed past the starting line. The revving of the engines piled, one after the other, until the speeders disappeared past the first curves and tunnels of the course, leaving only the roaring cheering from the stands going wild and the announcer narrating the juiciest highlights from the track. Cid held a datapad that projected Tay-0's speeder, and as much as it surprised Sarah, he seemed to be a decent racer and a decent pilot, unwaveringly moving his own speeder to the lead and having all the others tailgating him in a matter of seconds.
Cid's excitement for the race was contagious. The prospect of winning and earning a few easy credits wasn't lost on anyone, but the overall rush of racing was what felt more attractive to Sarah, so much that a part of her was curious what it would be like to be down there racing, moving as fast as the wind, pulling stunts in front of a crowd and being the first one at the finish line. Of course, a speeder that wasn't designed for such speeds paled in comparison to a starship, and Sarah'd had her fair share of excitement inside her own Y-Wing.
But the excitement felt towards that race was short-lived, and the team's hopes came crashing down when Tay-0's speeder barely made it to the finish line, and not in first place. The speeder tumbled and crashed loudly into the side of the track, prompting everyone to instantly head down there running as varied cheers were heard from the crowd, from painfully taunting "Ooooh!" cries to cheers rampaging with excitement and satisfaction, for the moment Tay-0 became the loser, it was Millegi's racer who had been declared winner.
When Wrecker and Tech pulled Tay-0 out of the wreckage, it seemed for a moment that hope was lost. Tech took a closer look at the droid and locked gazes with Cid, then with Sarah.
"There is a remedy for this," Tech affirmed. "However, I cannot change the already disfavorable result of the race."
"Are you sure you can fix him?" Sarah questioned. "He... he literally lost his legs."
"The core circuitry seems to have overloaded due to the impact, but judging by his current state, Tay-0 is on standby," Tech said. "He is not yet a lost cause, however much I may dislike him."
"You and me both," Sarah muttered, crossing her arms. She suddenly felt a warning rising inside her, and her instincts jumped to alert as she felt multiple people approaching them. Surely enough, they were already being hoarded by Millegi and his racing crew, who only had one thing on their mind after the result of the previous race.
"You lose, you pay," Millegi opened. "How about that, Cid? You sure your star racer's gonna be okay?"
"We have the best mechanic in the galaxy," Cid was nearly successful in hiding all of her nervousness. "Now, about the payment..."
"You do have it, do you not?" Millegi chuckled. "I just wish you were as quick to pay as you are to claim a payment."
Tech and Wrecker inevitably exchanged looks, and the multiple meanings behind that paired with Millegi's remark, but Sarah chose to ignore it for the time being. She instead focused on Cid and her lack of money to pay, which wouldn't foretell a happy ending.
"And if there isn't any money, we're gonna have to keep you," Millegi finished.
"Wait, keep Cid?" Omega spoke up, her tiny, childlike figure scattering in front of Cid. "But you can't do that!"
Millegi chuckled, amused at the rare sight of a child in such a cruel environment. "It's time you learn, kid. A deal is a deal, and when someone can't pay up, the stakes are higher. Either that or you make sure you actually have enough money."
"But you can't take Cid away from us, she's our friend," Omega's worry was evident in her voice, and her big, bright brown eyes looked over at Sarah, then at her two brothers, begging them to do something.
"The thing is," Sarah chose to intervene, "we aren't really counting on splitting up. It's not something we do well."
Millegi seemed to ease up the moment Sarah spoke up, and just as tensions were rising amongst his crewmates at Cid and her crew's resistance, Millegi gave one swat of his hand to calm it all down. He then looked at Sarah again, his gaze gleaming with intrigue.
"Alright then," Millegi looked straight at Sarah. "I'm giving you the chance to make a counter offer."
But Sarah was out of ideas, and normally when that happened, Omega was quick to intervene with a bright idea of her own.
"Let us fix Tay-0 and run the next race," Omega said. "Tomorrow morning."
"That's not a counter offer," Millegi said. "You need to offer up something that'll make this second round more intriguing, kid."
"We'll pay you double if you win," Omega said, decisive.
Sarah couldn't help the way her gaze shot over at Omega, but the child had a confident look in her eyes. Sarah felt a grim sense of foreboding flooding her body, its eerie cold spreading slowly through her marks. As much as Sarah had learned to trust Omega and her instincts, she couldn't find it in herself to feel at ease with the stakes being raised that drastically.
"But if we win, we leave here with Cid," Omega finished.
Millegi raised a brow. "You don't want money?"
Omega lightly shook her head. "We want our friend, and our freedom."
Millegi paused to ponder for a moment, but eventually, he nodded. "You got yourselves a deal. But for the night, we're keeping Cid as collateral. You understand - we have to make sure we're not sweet talked just to be fooled afterwards."
"Standard procedure, I suppose?" Tech inquired.
"Sure," Millegi agreed, and he gestured towards Cid to have her follow him and his crew.
Before Cid left, she took one last look at Sarah. Sarah gave a nod, appearing as confident as she could, but at the moment, Sarah wasn't sure how much that was. She then watched as Cid walked away with all the others, and when they were out of sight, Omega walked up next to Sarah, slightly hunched over her shoulders.
"Are you mad at me?" Omega asked her.
Sarah instantly looked at Omega, her facial features softening as she knelt down to be at Omega's height. "Darling, no."
"I know we're risking a lot," Omega said. "But I didn't want to leave Cid."
"And no one's holding that against you," Sarah said. "Yes, the deal is a little more risky than I would have made it, but you bought us time, and you bought us hope." Sarah then looked over at Wrecker and Tech as they held Tay-0's chassis, nodding briefly at them.
"We'll make do with what we have," Sarah finished.
"Yeah, we always do," Wrecker reassured.
"I will get to work on Tay-0 immediately," Tech said. "Wrecker, if you could bring the speeder into the shop, you'd be helping volumes."
"On it."
Cid
The night life outside was at its peak. Sitting on the couch and overlooking the elongated glass window before her, Cid could see the entire lowly festival that bloomed in the streets of Safa Toma. Laughter and racket could be heard coming from outside as the sun went down, and though those clones had proven to be resourceful before even in the worst of times, Cid couldn't shake the feeling she'd been pushed into a corner. She didn't have the credits to pay Millegi double - Tiny was adorable, but sometimes her bright ideas proved costly - and at that point, even Cid herself couldn't keep up blind hope that the heap of metal she'd chosen as her runner would succeed. It was up to Goggles to fix the droid, which Cid didn't doubt he could finish.
Winning the race was the problem.
Maybe if she sweet-talked Millegi into giving her some time after the loss to go and get the credits, Cid could head over to Ord Mantell and get some out of the reserves she had for herself and for the Batch. But wherever extra time was involved, so was collateral, and Cid couldn't stay as that and go to Ord Mantell for the credits. She also wasn't gonna ask one of the boys to go and empty the cases for her. The only one who Cid might have felt confident enough to ask for such a thing to was Strider, but Cid knew she wasn't gonna like the idea either.
Only a part of Cid felt guilty screwing over the batch, but it was either that or having Millegi come after them mercilessly, and that was assuming he even let them get off the planet, or that they were somehow able to get off planet without him noticing, which would open a whole other lot of gruesome possibilities waiting for each of the mercenaries.
"You look troubled," Millegi interrupted Cid's train of thought as he poured a glass of bourbon. "Ease up. Drink. Your loss will come until tomorrow anyway. For now, enjoy."
"I'd rather not," Cid dismissed.
"This is the most tense I've seen you since the last time you didn't have enough money to pay me," Millegi teased after downing his drink. "Surely that's not the case now, is it? 'Cause if it is, how are you gonna get out of that one?"
"You're gettin' ideas all up in your head," Cid challenged. "I won't lose."
"You're smarter than that," Millegi poured himself another glass and went to sit on the couch next to Cid. "You've said yourself, a blind confidence makes a dead fool. You'd be stupid not to consider all possibilities."
The feeling of being cornered returned to Cid.
"Better think fast," Millegi took a sip out of his drink, his tone friendly, even if the words were menacing.
With crossed arms and her body turned away from Millegi, Cid looked over her shoulder at him. "Whattaya mean, think fast? I'll get ya the money if it comes down to it."
"You'd be ruined after the wager the runt of your crew made," Millegi chuckled. "Double payment in exchange for you. It's so noble it almost has you believing you wouldn't turn your backs on each one of them in a second."
"I might surprise you," Cid crooned.
"No," Millegi said. "On the contrary, you're gonna pull a dirty stunt on them, and it'll be exactly what anyone expects."
"I've changed, Millegi."
"So you won't listen to my counteroffer?" Millegi prompted. "It'll be much easier than getting me all that money."
Cid angled her figure towards Millegi, intrigued.
"Adhara," Millegi finally stated.
"Strider?" Cid frowned. "What about 'er?"
"If your racer loses, you hand her over," Millegi proposed.
Cid's features crinkled in a grimace, but she didn't turn away from Millegi, nor did she dismiss his offer. She kept silent, and her eyes idly found different corners of the room as she examined the recently-raised stakes.
"Not a single ingot would wind up in my pocket," Millegi continued. "If you lose, give me Adhara and you're off the hook."
"Why do you even want her?" Cid asked.
"Have you seen the skillset she carries?" Millegi chuckled. "That woman is the deadly combination of a sorceress and a soldier, with enough of a gut to make it in this world. Ohnaka was a fool for letting her go."
Cid considered her options. She could blow a stream of hot air with reasons why Strider would never go with him, tell him she'd throw him off the nearest ledge using nothing but her hand and all his henchmen would follow, threaten with those two clones never being willing to let her go without a fight, convince Millegi he didn't know what he was getting into.
But Cid still didn't have the money, and if agreeing to the new terms would mean ending the conversation as well as not worrying about credits in either outcome, it became the safest of all options. It was a no-brainer. And with that, Cid made eye contact with Millegi, and she nodded.
"Deal," Cid concluded.
With a dark laugh, Millegi handed the spare glass of bourbon to Cid and sealed the offer. Cid took a sip of the bourbon and exhaled deeply as she forced away any remorse at the deal she'd just made.
Tay-0 was just gonna have to win.
Sarah
When the sun was out, Sarah found herself on the same chair she'd fallen asleep on in the middle of the trackside workshop with a makeshift blanket draped over her. She stood up and ignored the faint ache that plagued her neck, although she did resolve not to fall asleep on a chair again anytime soon. Instead of pondering on it, Sarah left the blanket over the chair and made her way towards the sunlight, and she took a deep breath in as she observed the scenery of the riot racing dome in front of her, its bleachers already filled with enthusiastic watchers and wagers.
That was one more thing amongst the many she hadn't thought she'd do since the war ended, but it wasn't the worst by any means.
Her gaze scanned the area and eventually found Wrecker and Omega overlooking the track with what appeared to be sticks of fried street food clenched in their hands, a breakfast worthy of the place they were in. When Sarah remembered the weight of their current situation, she lost all physical need to eat, and it was replaced by the plain longing for everything to be over. She'd learned not to be overly optimistic about anything a long time before that.
But the race was going to happen whether she wanted or not, and the moment she acknowledged that was also the moment her gaze landed on Tech in the distance. Also overlooking the racing track, his back was turned on her and he seemed to be holding his datapad in hand, and Sarah would have been far more pleased at the sight had it not been for Tay-0 hovering over Tech the entire time. Sarah could hear Tay-0 talking, unable to make out what exactly he was saying, though it wasn't necessary to. His circuits got to every last nerve of hers whether Tay-0 was near or far.
Sarah chuckled at a thought. With Tay-0 being so vocal that close to the start of his race, it was evident that Tech had fixed him up well. She never doubted Tech, of course. Tech could do anything, for better or for worse.
Sarah's mind pondered on Tech until the entire racing dome seemed to vanish around her, but her attention was robustly brought back to reality the moment a speeder flew past her eyesight, blocking her view of Tech for a split second only for her to realize that the vehicle had taken Tay-0 alongside it. The next thing she noticed was Tech beholding the crash site, astonished, and then he ran towards the scene of disaster where the racer walked out of his crashed vehicle without a scratch.
Tay-0 hadn't been as lucky.
Sarah, Wrecker, and Omega all ran after Tech towards the crash-site, and none of them were optimistic. It was Wrecker who reached into the ruined speeder and pulled Tay-0's limp chassis out, and they could all instantly realize this hit hadn't been like the one he'd suffered in his previous race. There was no light in Tay-0's specs, not even a flicker, and smoke was emerging from the inside of his head. The last sounds of his modulated voice could be heard as a drag of sound lowering in pitch, signaling the poor droid's futile end.
"What happened!?" Cid called as she approached the site.
But the others were still speechless and exchanging looks, as though doing that - or not doing something about what had just happened - would change the fact that they'd just lost their pilot. Cid finally caught up to them and reached towards Tay-0, and as she did, electricity crackled from the inside of Tay-0's metallic remains, which darkened the smoke that was already emerging from him. And, as if it wasn't bad enough already, the bewildered silence that clouded Sarah and the others was broken abruptly by a thunderous, mocking laughter.
"Looks like a forfeit," Millegi announced himself as he and his crew approached their opposing team.
His presence managed to put Sarah, Tech, and Wrecker on guard, while Cid walked up between the two teams holding her hands out.
"Now, now, this ain't a forfeit," Cid tried to persuade.
"You have no racer," Millegi gestured at Tay-0, limp and broken in Wrecker's grip. "No racer, no race, no victory. Those are the rules, and you know that better than anyone."
Cid's features hardened, and she didn't budge. The gesture of defiance riled Millegi, and suddenly he seemed to become taller as he glared down at Cid.
"I'm waiting for you to hold up your end of the deal," Millegi threatened.
"No," Sarah walked forward and positioned herself next to Cid. "Our deal stipulated a result after the race, not before it. We still have a right to run the race."
"That loophole never worked on me," Millegi told her. "Your buddy Cid here learned that the hard way. I'm surprised she was stupid enough to put her foot in her own grave a second time."
"Hey, there's no need for language like that," Sarah tried to moderate, but he was admittedly getting on her nerves. "We'll find a racer, we'll win, and then you'll let us be on our way."
Millegi chuckled. "You still have a lot to learn despite your reputation, little girl. You may as well just dump Cid now and make a better name for yourself, all of you," he gestured at the others behind her.
"Our loyalty is our business," Sarah replied.
“And where is your loyalty coming from?” Millegi turned to Sarah with a devious smile. “Even if I let Cid run free, you’re not going back to Ord Mantell, pretty girl.”
“What?” Sarah’s frown eased into concern.
“You’re coming with me,” Millegi looked her up and down. “Didn’t Cid tell you she offered you up instead of the money?”
Laughter emerged from Millegi’s henchmen, and Cid saw herself scrutinized by the batchers’ pairs of eyes. Omega looked at her in disbelief, Wrecker looked angry as he began stepping in front of Sarah, and Tech looked at Cid with disappointment.
Sarah’s gaze held sheer wrath.
“What the hell is he talking about?” Sarah pierced into Cid’s gaze.
“I knew what I was doin’!” Cid tried to persuade. “I knew Tay-0 was gonna win, I’d never make an offer to hurt ya, Strider.”
“Enough talk,” Millegi said, and one of his henchmen paced towards Sarah.
But Sarah intended to blast her way out of that one if that’s what it took, and she quickly unholstered her hand blaster, pointing it at the Gamorrean guard, and everyone around them pulled their weapons out in unison.
“Easy,” Millegi held his hands out, gesturing to his men to lower their weapons. “A deal is a deal, and as a former pirate, you should know it’s about the business. Your racer is down, and you cannot race, therefore you forfeit and the wage’s in our favor.”
“Oh, we are running that race,” Sarah nearly yelled. “I’m not going to give myself up just like that, you’d better be sure I’m—”
“I will be the racer,” Tech interrupted.
Sarah lowered her blaster as she turned to look at Tech, her nebulous eyes raided with fear and confusion.
“Well, this is interesting,” Millegi crooned.
“No way,” Sarah walked up to Tech. “No, I’m the one being offered, I’m—”
Tech looked directly at Millegi. “I will race.”
“Done,” Millegi accepted the wager.
Millegi left, followed by Cid and his henchmen, and Tech wasted no more time before the race. He directed himself towards the speeder, and once the confusion wore off, Wrecker went over to help him take it to the starting line. As much as Omega attempted to calm Sarah down, the latter felt she was incapable of such a thing. What the hell was Cid thinking, and why the hell would Tech make such a rash, uncalculated decision?!
Sarah ran after Tech when he was readying himself to get into the speeder, leaving Wrecker to look after Omega. Sarah ran as fast as she could, not giving a damn about the personnel repeating to her that she wasn’t allowed near the racers.
“Tech!” She yelled during those final steps, and when she reached him, Sarah clung to his forearm with desperation. “Tech, how could you do this to me?!”
“I am getting you out of harm’s way,” Tech faced Sarah, stern, yet comprehensive.
“By putting yourself in the line of fire!” Sarah was near crying. “Tech, this is my problem, my race to run!”
“I have analyzed the course and the mechanics of the sport,” Tech said. “You, on the other hand, are not thinking straight. Finding out that Cid would bring you into the wager is a shock, and thus, you are in no condition to race.”
“I can’t let you do this,” Sarah’s voice quivered as she made her last attempts to hold back tears.
“You have trusted me on dangerous endeavors before, and I have emerged victorious,” Tech said. “By my calculations and analyses, this will be the case again. I have the correct strategy.”
“Tech—”
“This is the best way, Sarah—”
“I can’t lose you!”” Sarah finally cried, thundering across the entire starting line. “I… I lost Crosshair… I can’t lose you too, Tech.”
Upon noticing her distress, Tech set his helmet down on the ground next to him and when he faced her again, he took his goggles off and looked at Sarah with his own eyes. And when he did, Sarah stopped crying—it was almost as if she’d stopped breathing for a moment, and without blinking, Sarah stared into Tech’s eyes in awe.
“You have beautiful eyes,” she whispered.
Tech paced closer to her and gently brushed the back of her palm with his gloved fingers.
“Trust me,” Tech began. “You will not lose me. Not today, not ever. For all purposes, Sarah Adhara, I am yours, and I have now chosen the duty of making sure you do not end up in Millegi’s hands. And I will not fail.”
Sarah sniffled as a wave of emotions coursed through her. Feeling both hot and cold on her marks from the confession she’d just heard Tech speak, as well as the fear of him not making it out of the race, she felt she would break if she didn’t do anything at the moment. Without thinking of it any further, Sarah cupped Tech’s face with her hands and perked herself up on her toes, and she pressed her lips to his. The way she pressed herself towards him seemed desperate, but the way her breath slowed down as she was with him spoke of true adoration and gratitude, and when she parted from the kiss, her eyes had pooled with tears again.
“Come back to me,” Sarah uttered.
Tech gave her a hint of a smile as he replaced his goggles over his eyes. “Do not doubt.”
“Racers, to your speeders!”
At the final announcement, Sarah knew it was time for her to let Tech do what he did best. She returned to the sidelines next to Wrecker and Omega, who each held onto one of Sarah’s shoulders as the racers’ names were being called, partly out of comfort, but mostly out of mutual nervousness. The danger of Tech’s current situation didn’t escape them either.
But the moment the starting bell blared, Tech seemed like a natural, at least, that was until he fell into the last place among the racers. The pronounced curves of the track and the high speed weren’t his problem, as he was a fantastic pilot, but none of that would matter if he lost.
Sarah became filled with dread, and her mind began to wander with the possibilities of what would happen. She would set fire to the racing dome herself if it guaranteed her and her family’s freedom—perhaps if everything went wrong, she could finally find an excuse to hide in a remote planet, or declare war on Millegi and his gang, as well as Cid. The dread returned to Sarah as she remembered she was capable of offering her.
But then, Sarah felt a warmth scattering itself over the blue of her marks. Her familiar hunches were never wrong, and at that moment, she could hear what the Force was telling her to trust in, and her instincts all pointed in the same direction. Tech was the best pilot down there, and he was the smartest, too, far more capable than any machine programmed by a mind inferior to his, and far more reckless than the racers from the low worlds.
Trust.
“He’s climbing!” Omega cheered as the screens projecting the race around the dome showed Tech’s speeder passing one racer after another.
The final lap was upon them, and he was already in third place, but that also attracted the attention of Jet Venim, who didn’t intend to go easy on Tech. The tunnels were approaching for the last time in the race, and through the comms, Tech announced his intent to cross the left tunnel, the one revered as a death trap.
And though none of the stunts were easy to watch, Tech was successful in all of them, just as Sarah’s instincts had told her. Finally, Tech was at the last leg of the race, and this was it. The three speeders in the lead were close together, two of them very clearly harassing Tech’s vehicle, and at times it really seemed Tech would end up in a crash and a subsequent loss. In the last tunnel, it became difficult to keep track of the speeders given how close they were, and emerging from the tunnel, everything seemed to collapse. Blasts were fired, metal could be heard crashing, and a large cloud of dust hid the speeders from view at the very moment when the tension was at such a high point that the dome fell silent in expectation.
From the cloud of dust, the small blue speeder sped through the finish line, and the announcer called Tech’s name, declaring him the winner.
Sarah let out a scream that blended surprise, relief, and admiration, and alongside her, Wrecker and Omega cheered like they hadn’t done in far too long. Around them, the crowd gathered in the racing dome went wild, with their cheers albeit carrying surprise, but an undeniable satisfaction at the result of the race they’d just witnessed.
Sarah ran down to the track with Wrecker and Omega following closely after her. As Tech got down from the speeder and removed his helmet, he seemed as neutral as he always was about anything, and it didn’t seem like he cared if there was an entire crowd around him chanting his name. His expression only shifted to astonishment when Sarah threw her arms around him and leapt into his arms, causing Tech to spin as he held her, feeling her fingertips tracing soft patterns around the back of his head.
“You did it!” Sarah panted as relief and adoration finally showered upon her. Tech had single handedly pulled her and the rest of the squad out of any trouble. He’d made sure she would be safe, that she would return home without anyone following her. He had raced for her, and he’d succeeded.
“Yes,” Tech answered matter-of-factly. “I told you I would.”
Sarah chuckled, and she didn’t undo the embrace even as Wrecker and Omega caught up to them. Despite not reveling in his own success even when his siblings brought it up, Tech then looked up at the racing dome filled with his newly acquired fans, all of them chanting and repeating his name in unison, their hands flailing in the air as they celebrated his victory.
Tech watched them and approached the scene with the same curiosity with which he approached anything that was new to him, and with one hand still holding Sarah’s silhouette to his side, the other one went up to his temple, and he offered the crowd a brief salute that made the cheering thunder around them.
Sarah grinned at the sight of him acknowledging his crowd, and the way his lips curved softly into a tiny smile didn’t escape her. She felt like she could have kissed him again, but she let him enjoy his glory undistracted for a few more moments.
He truly deserved that.

I was semi-joking last post but ....she’s so fun to draw wtffff
Following 2007 and Rise Splinter’s example, Bay Splinter absolutely watches soaps, teleseryes, telenovelas, and dramas and Venus watches some with him
Casey taught them how to make their own skates, so now the entire sewer is an impromptu skating rink
... I forgot that Leo, Donnie and Mikey’s shoes actually match (as much as they could make their custom frankenshoes match-- Mikey’s is like 98% duct tape and bandage wraps tbh; “But they’re still chucks underneath...!”) I just subconsciously went Punky Brewster on her shoewear. problem is I like both. so. nyeh.
have I settled on the size of her tesse--- hahahahhahahhahhahhha no.
in a brighter timeline, if they did a 3rd movie or just put both scrotes in and pumped out TMNT movies like they have Transformers movies I’d guess Venus, Jennika, Slash, Tokka, Rahzar, whoever were probably whatchamacallit, experimental groups to Splinter & Co.’s ....control group? subjects from different experiments with the ooze before April’s dad went whistleblower. or maybe experiments from the 15 year interval trying to recreate the first lab’s results ‘cuz Sacks would’ve had the resources to recommence pretty fast after the disaster
although to explain Venus and Jennika... since Sacks had ties to the Foot Clan, and Shredder pulled that double cross with Baxter in OotS. what I would guess is that Sacks pulled whatever weight he had left with the Foot Clan (maybe with Karai at the helm in Shredder’s absence) to use their resources for any gaps with his own and as a cover to reconvene his experiments. blah blah Karai studied under Shredder obvi and so probably thought to have the scientists report to her before they report to Sacks. Sacks was kept in the dark, not told they were more or less able to recreate the original lab results on the turtles who’d become Venus’n Jennika. “oh oops they died sacks, sux 4 u try again maybe, here’s some more animals for you.”
Venus and Jennika are taken in under the Foot once they exhibit the same potential the boys showed; Sacks just goes a little apeshit on the science, as a treat, hence Slash, and then Tokka’n Rahzar and again told they failed. Sacks fully thinks he couldn’t recreate the first lab’s results womp womp u bitch
....how would any of them break out from under the Foot? lol i dunno. uh. mmmmmaybe black market “weapons” dealing-- Venus and Jennika break out (willingly or opportunistically) during shipment to... where? nyc why thefuck not, oh look they end up in chinatown *eyebrow waggle* oh now they’ve stumbled upon a grandpa, maybe his name is Grandpa Chung in the community, I don’t know, and he adopts them surprise! is he blind and therefore just thinks they’re lost kids? blech, does he see two turtles and see an auspicious omen? ehhh hmmm..... I guuuuesssss? or is he just gonna be an example of people doing good things with no prompting because it’s the right fuckin’ thing to do, they’re obviously kids with no guardians, and goddamn we know it’s for the plot but also people are just out here being good to each other guys, it’s real, it happens.

For the prompts, Ash and Fern Augur AU, with Ferncloud's reaction to Squirrel snubbing her brother?
Fair warning for this one that Ferncloud is going to be portrayed as really, really xenophobic and classist. But that's kind of a given with Augur AU. Whenever I write Augur AU whoever ends up being the augurs by design adopt those opinions regardless of who it is. As I've said previously, it's an Arthurian romance not a Robin Hood ballad.
So, let's see where this takes us.
(Want your own chance at getting your prompt written? Check out my guidelines and submit one! I'm taking prompts up to the last day of the #CalmWrimo2023 challenge which is the 30th. Even if I have enough for the month I still like having more choices to pick from.)
Squirrelflight lay down on the patients’ nest inside the augurs’ den as she clutched her stomach. Whatever she’d eaten was absolutely murdering her right now. Since sunrise she’d had no appetite and now by low sun the growing discomfort growing inside her stomach had become unbearable. Beside her Ferncloud was riffing through her stores and preparing some kind of herb packet for her to eat, and surely a few doses she would be prescribing her.
The atmosphere between them was tense. She’d not brought it up but Squirrelflight could tell Ferncloud was not really pleased by the fact her brother had stopped sharing her nest and slept alone now.
The usually gossipy queen had been quiet, and as of the last few days she kept glaring at her from across camp. The treatment was not new to her, both her and Leafstep had grown up recieving it from the patricians of other Clans they met at the gathering or during the Great Journey. And it only gotten worse since those stuck up cats caught wind that her participation in the Sundrown Place patrol hadn’t technically been condoned.
But this was not really behavior that she expected out of ThunderClan patricians, even someone as prickly as Spiderleg. For better or worse more than a former kittypet’s daughter, low in birth as they come, in their eyes she’d always been Firestar’s, their glorious leader’s, daughter. The treatment from ThunderClan’s matriarch had even seemed to embolden her and Spiderleg’s mates in their own condescension.
“There,” Ferncloud said with an icy tone, sliding the packet of herbs once she was done. “Swallow it whole.”
Squirrelflight squinted at it as she took a whiff of the smell. She guessed asking for some honey to help it go down easier was out of the question. She forced it down her throat, the bitterness permeating every tastebud as she struggled not to gag. Once it was down she licked at her teeth, trying to dislodge whatever particles remained between her teeth to spit them out.
“Thanks Ferncloud,” Squirrelflight said with a nod as she prepared to leave.
“Sit back down,” Ferncloud ordered as she moved to block her passage. “There is a conversation we ought to have. I figure you must already know don’t you?”
Squirrelflight sighed. “Look. What happened between Ashfur and I... I just didn’t think he’d be the tom for me. I don’t think it’s something worth your attention.”
“I’ll say what’s worth my attention,” Ferncloud stated. “And one of the things that’s worth my attention is that you thought you were too good for a patrician.”
“Ferncloud, that’s not--”
“What’s worth my attention,” Ferncloud said louder. “Is that I think you and that sister of you are growing arrogant. That I think you are forgetting your place in this Clan, loners. I know Ashfur. He may be a little smothering, too eager to please, lacking in good judgement even. But for a patrician like him to extend not only the gift of his trust but his affection and for you to toss him away like that?”
“I didn’t toss Ashfur!” Squirrelflight defended herself. “We ended--”
“We?” Ferncloud said indignant. “By how devastated Ashfur has come to me it seems unlikely there was a we that ended this relationship.” With her tail lashing behind her, Ferncloud fixed Squirrelflight with a harsh glare. “I really shouldn’t have trusted that a friendship between my kits and you would have ended well. Not only does your blood already predispose you to this, I allowed you far too much access to the world of the patricians.”
A tense silence hung between them. Squirrelflight wanted to scream at the freckled gray queen that she was completely wrong, that she wasn’t being arrogant or stubborn or whatever else she wanted to project onto her. But the words failed her at that moment from how ridiculous the accusations were.
“Go now,” Ferncloud instructed as she stepped out of the way. “I am going to deal with this as needed. But for now just know: ThunderClan’s patricians are not going to be treating you the same ever again.”
With that, Squirrelflight tipped her head in a gesture of departure and maneuvered down the slope and away from the augurs’ den.

Submitted prompt
There's a character in a visual novel that got turned into an anime and manga named Shirou Emiya. He's traumatized because of a fire that happened in his hometown when he was young and erased all his memories except his first name. Shirou is OBSESSED with the idea of being a hero. The future version of him from the bad end made a deal with the consciousness of the planet and the collective unconscious will of humanity to kill whoever needs to die. Kill 1 to save 10, kill 10 to save 100, etc. That's his dead adoptive dad and his sad future version's motto or whatever. That's how obsessed he is with being a hero.
So I was thinking a Shirou, who somehow ends up in Paris during Hawkmoth's reign and gets his hands on the Cat Miraculous? There's a character in the franchise he comes from that has the ability to observe and interact with parallel worlds, AND the guy is a known troll.
Considering Shirou is desperate to be a hero and:
Can analyze the structural composition of an object, increase its effectiveness, such as making it more durable or its shape more practical, or return it to its original state.
Can improve upon the physical capabilities of his own body temporarily via magecraft
Skilled in a branch of magecraft, which allows him to understand the structure and design of objects as if he were viewing a blueprint
Is skilled in a branch of magecraft that allows him to completely copy everything regarding the creation and existence of the object. He's only able to copy weapons and armor, but he can even copy legendary weapons, though they're typically somewhat weaker than the original and cost him a lot of magical energy.
Can smell magical energy
Considering all his abilities AND his obsession with being a hero - or technically more with SAVING people - if he got his hands on the Black cat miraculous during Hawkmoth's reign:
1: Adrien would never get it back
2: He would be a much better "hero" the Adrien because blondie cares more about playing around and having fun and Shirou is OBSESSED with the idea of saving people and I think people would notice it.
3: He's not really the type to fall first, so he would have no interest in trying to hit on Ladybug. Shirou would be 90% professional and 10% extremely excited to be a hero and SAVE people.

FFxivWrite2024 Prompt #22 (Free) / Late #wolkrileweek Prompt #7
Title: Of Parents, and of Family
Wordcount: 743
Spoilers Through: mid-Dawntrail
Relationships & Characters: Krile & Wuk Lamat
Summary: Krile and Wuk Lamat discuss some feelings about being adopted.
(This fic is dedicated to the person in my FC who pointed out that Krile and Wuk Lamat have very different attitudes toward meeting their biological parents, and that it was a shame we didn’t get a conversation between them about it. So here's my attempt to write that!)
.
“Do you want to meet your parents?” Krile asked as she and Wuk Lamat wandered through the stone-tiled streets of Tuliyollal.
“You mean say hi to Papa while we’re in the city?” The cheerful Promise shrugged. “I think he’s busy. Besides, I don’t want him to think I’m here to beg for hints about the contest!”
“Oh! My apologies, that was a rather ambiguous question.” It was difficult to match the enormous Xbr’aal’s bounding stride, so Krile found herself walking briskly to keep pace. “I meant - the next Feat will be near Iq Br'aax, will it not? So, perhaps…”
“Ahh, you mean I could meet my birth parents?” The images Krile picked up from her companion’s mind were hazy indeed. A flash of a rocky cavern, a flash of brilliant azure foliage. “Even if I met them, I wouldn’t remember them. And Papa’s the only Papa I need, you know? I have him, and I have Namikka, and they’re my real family.”
“I see…” The streets around them were just beginning to stir with early merchants setting up their stalls, but Krile refused to be distracted.
“Besides, what if I didn’t like them?” The tall Xbr’aal abruptly swerved onto a steeply sloped side street, and Krile once again hurried after her. “You heard what happened with Koana, right?”
“More or less.” She’d seen enough in his memories.
“They left him behind.” Wuk Lamat kicked aside a pebble in a brief burst of anger as she marched up the hill. “And whatever happened with my birth parents, they didn’t want me either. If I did meet them after all, then it would just be awkward!”
“I suppose it would be.” Krile slowed down and decided to take the street at her own pace.
“But what about you?” At the crest of the hill, the Promise came to a stop, having evidently arrived at the view she’d said she wanted to show off. “Erenville said you’ve never met your birth parents either.” She stepped over to a low wall and sat down, then patted the stone beside her.
Once she reached it, Krile settled into her seat, thankful for the rest. When she’d caught her breath somewhat, she finally replied, “I never had any parents.”
“Grandfather was, well, my grandfather. And I could not have asked for a kinder one.” Krile smiled softly. She still missed the warmth of his hugs. Then her expression turned clouded, pensive. “But with how strange my life has been, I can’t help but wonder what it would have been like if I’d been raised as a normal girl.”
A childhood as the Student’s lab rat - even one taken very respectful care of - was hardly a childhood, after all.
”You know what I think?” Wuk Lamat was staring up at the palace set still higher above the city. “Normal isn’t real.”
“How so?” Krile followed her gaze.
“Well, for me, it’s normal to live in a big palace and never have to worry about my next meal, or repairing my clothes, or having people to care for me when I get hurt.” The Promise let out a full-throated laugh. “But I don’t think many other people would agree! Even though that’s what should be normal. Everyone should be able to have the things they need to live. Especially good food.”
She looked down at her companion, green eyes wide and guileless. “So what kind of normal is the one you want?”
“I - “ It was rare indeed for Krile to be thrown off balance. But Wuk Lamat was right. Krile had simply assumed that whoever her parents were, life with them would have been better than what she’d had in some nebulous way. “I’m not actually sure.”
“H-hey! Don’t look so sad, okay?” Krile could sense a spike of worry as the Xbr’aal noticed her downcast expression. “You came all the way across the ocean to learn about your grandfather, so family is really important to you, right? So… “ She gestured broadly out into the city, and the sunlight-flecked sea beyond. “Who knows? Maybe they’re still out there! Maybe they’re even hoping you’ll find them, because they miss you so, so much!”
“That seems rather unlikely.” But Krile chuckled all the same. “If they’re out there, though… I do think I would like to meet them.”
Together, the two girls - so utterly different, yet bound together on the same quest regardless - watched the city come alive as morning dawned beneath them.

Solace Part 1
Shu’Na sat in a dark corner of her humble home, a hut at the edge of town. Her brother, Utan, had left hours ago to explore. It felt hours ago anyway. Where they lived, an isolated forest which dared not respond regardless of who spoke to it. Though the rainy season brought them floods and mudslides, the leaves always took their time to bloom, Shu’Na sometimes forgot what ‘green’ was. All she did was curl up and dissociate, the faint sounds of chatter and busywork occasionally breaking her trance.
“Is Shu’Na still in there? It has been hours since dawn.”
“It looks so. Haven’t seen her.”
Two passerby commented on her whereabouts. It was uncommon for her to be seen past the confines of the property. She didn’t mind. The town was nothing to look at anyway, it was just huts and crops along a beaten grassy path. She became isolated from other girls and boys her age as she reached adulthood, all of them adopting responsibilities or leaving for new lives. She could never get things outside of cleaning and crafting. Some days, when her brother left to do work or explore more of the forest with her friends, she would sneak out and play on her own. That was how she’d found her “pet”, a scruffy dog which loved to run circles around her. She didn’t know where the dog had come from or when it would wander into oblivion, but she enjoyed entertaining it nonetheless.
Today was not one of those days. Not because she didn’t want to see her four-legged companion, but last night had taken so much from her. She saw herself in a dim room and a looming figure standing before her. She sensed she was in a state of shock and panic. Before she could see anymore, she awoke in a sweat, fearful of going back to sleep. The wall behind her trembled. Her head snapped around, she wondered if some surprise party was starting. Wails of pain and screaming rippled through the air. Shu’Na felt her muscles relaxing, but she willed them to stay strong. A sense of impending doom flooded into her, prompting her to poke her head from behind the main door. Bodies littered the path, while grotesque men stormed to and fro, grabbing and pillaging whoever and whatever they could. Shu’Na’s brother had only told her what ‘rape’ was to protect her, she never thought she’d see it begin to happen just meters from her home. Further down the path, she and others could only watched as one of her former playmates was hacked to death with a battle axe. Seeing this shot life into her, causing her to up and run to the woods. Shu’Na went as fast and as long as her legs could carry her, collapsing into a scared, huddled mess on the forest floor. Around her, the trees became twisted, lifeless corpses of monsters from ages gone by, reminders that she was now alone and forgotten. Her brother had only just come to mind, the only relief coming from the fact he had gone off to explore with some other men of the village.
Sleep eluded her, though her eyes were heavy, the sense of danger kept her alert. Shu’Na knew she had to find shelter, lest she succumb to the sorrows of the night. Tenderly, she picked herself off the ground. Shu’Na was a head shorter than the average man, her wiry arms and legs betraying a slender build. Her hair, a mystifying black, was dirtied with specks of dust and forest litter, some of it sticking to her pale skin. She so desperately wished she had had breakfast that morning, but her brother was in no mood to make her eat. Each step, regardless of whether on soft dirt, dead leaves, or hard branches, sent jolts through her body. She just wanted to sleep. To fade away into the obscurity she had resigned herself to. Part of her wanting to kick and scream that she could do nothing for the people she was raised with, but what could she do? Shu’Na let her body do the walking, endless meditations bouncing back and forth across her mind.
She’d been so deep within herself that she hardly noticed the change in elevation, sending her rolling to the ground. The grasses acted as a reluctant cushion, enveloping her in pity and indifference. Raising her head, she noticed something in the clear. A castle-like stone building with minimal decor surrounded by a fancy, silvery gate. The yard inside was pristine and clear, the pathway a shining grey. It called to her. Shu’Na mustered up all the strength she could and crawled to the gate. To her surprise, it was open. Though she had barely the energy to breathe, her mind grilled her with questions. Was this place abandoned? Was this a test that would lead to her being shot? Joining her townsfolk in death wouldn’t seem so bad, so she meandered in. The juxtaposition of the yard against the isolating hell she had stumbled from became clearer. Up close, the building looked as if it had been there for centuries, the bricks sturdy but faded.

So I'm trying my hand at writing and building my own fic. Like I'm trying to write about my ocs in the Notes app. And I don't know if it'll ever see the light of day. Maybe not but it's like a writing prompt exercise to get me to know what writers feel so I can respect their stories and whatnot.
But I may have gotten a bit attatched to the thing in writing because.
I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THESE GUYS. MY OCS. AND THEIR WORLD I CANT I JUST DJDHDHDJDJJDSKDJJ.
so the whole plot is that this character who goes on a long journey to get to somewhere for some prophecy stuff but he learned early so right now there really isn't much rush for him right
he meets up with another dude who's supposed to do this DIFFERENT quest/destiny and since they have no one else they stick together until they eventually have to part ways
and then funny character plot happens and stuff and in the midst of that they meet this third character going to meet a wizard and so now there's this trio of dumbasses running around together but conveniently their paths are generally the same
and then they bump into these two characters that have these two destinies as well so now there's five people travelling together like a group and they start bonding because wacky shenanigans force them too and they travel big mountains and valleys together and stuff
not to mention hurt/comfort and angst
so after like the whole group being together for roughly a month or two their pretty attached to one another but then that's when their paths split. There's this big cross way that lead to wildly different parts of the earth and then they all have to say goodbye to one another and they now all hold this friendship bracelet in reminder of them or something
AND NOW FOR THE CHARACTERS
one of them starts off as sad and sulking because they were walking alot alone to the absolute sunshine itself, happy and smiling and singing and twirling and dancing and stuff
one is like neutral to everything but now he frequently uses her magic powers to make flower crowns for everyone (he/her)
one is also a bit sad. But now he's the one being the most dramatic and frequently the one starting up the singing and hes healing from whatever hurt him in the past (he/him)
one is just happy to go along with it and also very talkative (in a good way. Kept the two of them sane until they got their third member) (he/they)
and one is just absolutely vibing and also the one everyone sends to fuck shit up (she/her)
Tumblr media
I have this quick sketch about them too
OH AND WHEN THEY SPLIT AFTER A WHILE THEY MEET UP WITH WHOEVER ELSE IS WITH THEIR DESTINIES SO
The person on the far right helps stop the world from blowing up (again) and by doing so preserved the earth and they think that their friends are living on happily and so they're glad to preserve the world for them
next to them is the guy that goes on to slay a tyrant and take back the thrown because he's the one true heir to it. But his first act is to abolish the dang thing and puts in democracy in place so he doesn't have the weight of ruling over a diverse set of a kingdom and lets the local governments become a council and stuff because sure he's the head of the democracy (nicknamed the King) to make sure it doesn't implode on itself and the system isn't that perfect yet but he's trying as hard as he can. (Aka he's trying to make his 'kingdom''s government better then we have sorry to be political but back to the good stuff) and he holds a festival called the festival of friends cuz he misses his
next to him is the person that uplifts a curse that affects the south part of the world and now the ecosystem is healing a lot more and every day he plants seeds of all kinds and grows a lot of things and now they hope that their friend can make more kinds of flowers since the world is now more habitable and more sustainable for things like plants but also because the group he got adopted into along the way is eerily like them but he knows they're their own people but it's just. Something that nags him to find them
and said magic flower friend actually became the apprentice of the wizard before the wizard basically said fuck it and legally adopted him and now she wears sundresses and makes all these plants he reads up in books and it's much easier now because the skies have cleared for some reason and now she's reviving all these forests and makes a small shrine with five flowers that all her friends like and stuff
And the last one decided to raise animals and actually accidentally saved a god from dying and is now deemed a demigod so now she runs around guiding animals to safe places to thrive which is becoming easier to do, even if she needs to find rare flowers their actually around if she goes far enough
so one day, they all meet again, in an open area in the forest.
the demigod wants to find a golden flower, the mage is sprouting plants every step he takes, the 'King' is out for a day, walking through the forest he just noticed, the curse lifted walking out for a breather and the world-savior already sitting there, basking in sunlight and humming to themselves.
and they all run into eachother somehow, like the first time they met. They've changed so much and gets it's still just them that's there.
so yeah that's what I'm planning to do
you can see I put in more thought into some of them because I thought about them more then the rest back when there were two and not five I decided to put in and I. Am going CRAZY over this I think about this too much and I don't know if I'm able to pull it off or even finish this goddamn idea I just. AAAA
I'm bored and procrastinating, hit me with your longest hyperfixation rant

Prompt! I love Hunith and really like when she's depicted as a caring mother but I've always been fascinated by the idea that in her obsession to keep Merlin safe she actually traumatized him and hindered his development (we all remember the "am I a monster?" Line from the pilot).
One day Merlin and the gang (Knights, Arthur and whoever you want) (post magic reveal) are playfully comparing their childhoods, they ask Merlin about his and he refuses to tell them bc he doesn't want to be a Debby Downer but they keep insisting.
Maybe she tried to drown him as a babe hours after his first spell because she would rather do it herself than to have her son ripped away from her. She doesn't follow through with it but came real close.
Maybe he wasn't allowed to go outside for the first 5 years bc his magic is still incredibly temperamental and people could accidentally see it. Maybe she did murder a traveler that saw it and tried to run to tell someone, she doesn't know Merlin was watching.
Maybe when he was 9 she brought him to the kitchen before lunch, made him watch her decapitate a live chicken (it's the standard way to prepare and kill chicken for food btw), explained that if people see his magic this will be his fate. She made him watch the butcher of every chicken they cooked that season.
Maybe due to being confined inside and living fairly far from the village he was almost 8 the first time he saw someone other than his mother or the voices she kept him hidden from. She crafted a story of how he was adopted and his parents were friends of hers that died in a fire a few villages over.
I know sometimes I make these prompts too detailed but just do whatever you want. This is just some ideas and not a script. Go big, queen.
(This is #32 on This List)
Ok. So. I've been thinking about this in some capacity every second of my life since it arrived in my inbox, and anon? I'm in love with you.
I adore this concept. We all know I love a bit of angst, but this is top tier, and I'm going to make it really horrifying (I have tweaked it a little to make it more so)😁
~
SO!! The gang, all post magic reveal and everything, are discussing their childhoods. No real reason, it's just a topic of conversation that happened to come up. Merlin is happily listening in, but not really contributing at all until someone points it out, and he's all "Nah, don't mind me, my childhood was kind of a bummer." and they keep pushing and it's all "Well, it can't have been that bad, doesn't your mum tell you what you were like as a toddler?" and Merlin is like... kinda tense at the mention of his mother, but relationship wise he feels, after everything, they're in a really good place atm and he doesn't want to seem like he's bad talking her, and he also doesn't want to be teased or called out or seem like a bad son, because he knows all of his friends love his mum. So instead it's "Hmm, not really, I got punished a lot as a kid, was kinda naughty I guess." but like... poor boy doesn't understand that what happened.... was not normal, or ok in ANY way, even if he had magic (even post ban repeal, he struggles with the whole monster self image thing). Someone asks "Right, well... what was the worst thing you did, and the worst punishment you ever got?" and Merlin, deadass, without seeing an issue with it (he knows it's a mood killer, but he doesn't know how horrifying it is), says "One day she got really scared of my magic—I kept using it when she told me not to, so I guess it was my fault lol—and she drowned me in the river, then fished me out and buried me in the woods somewhere. That was how we found out I was immortal, because I dug myself out a few days later and wandered home, the whole village had apparently been out looking for me—I told them I just got lost. I don't think she knows I remember, and I plan on keeping it that way.". Everyone is... horrified, and Merlin is all smiling and "Told you it was a bit of a bummer, we get on a lot better now I can control my magic, don't worry." and they have to like... control themselves as they very calmly, very quietly, ask what else Hunith did in the name of keeping him safe.
ANYWAY it's horrifying, and all of them feel super guilty because they'd previously been really fond of Hunith. But yeah, burning him when he used magic, keeping him locked up for years, telling him terrifying bed time stories about evil kings and burning pyres and monsters (knights) coming for him in the night, among other things.
~
I am SO looking forward to writing this, thank you so MUCH!!!

Levihan drabble week: Levihan randomized
Prompt: Levi and Hange are a pair of ghosts haunting a house, and every day they try to outcompete each other in scaring whoever comes in.
TW: Emotional Abuse. (I didn't like to think about Sasha in this type of situation, but I wanted Levihan to adopt her in the end.)

The realtor looked at all the books laying on the table.
Realtor: I told you! You’re not allowed to use anything in here! Just clean!
Maid: Sir, I swear I didn’t, besides, the place wasn’t really dirty, and I did put the books back in place, I don’t know what happened!
R: I don’t have time for this. The owner’s son will be here any minute now and for some reason his father wanted me to show the apartment to him instead of doing it himself. Hurry up and leave.
A few minutes later, Floch arrived with his girlfriend.
R: Good morning mister Foster, miss Braus, please come inside.
Floch: What the hell is this place? This looks like a dumpster!
R: On the contrary sir, this apartment contains all of your father’s valuable antiques, books, expensive furniture and-
F: I don’t give a shit. I have better stuff at home.
Sasha: I think it’s pretty…
F: Shut up. You’re lucky I decided to bring you with me. Nobody wanted you back at home.
R: Sir, your father believes you will appreciate your family heritage more once-
F: You shut up too. I don’t give a fuck about them. Just get this over with.
______________________________________________________________
Levi: Why do I even bother putting these back into place…
Hange: Levi look! The realtor brought a real jerk this time, his girlfriend seems sweet though…
L: Alright. My turn to beat your score.
H: Ha! Last time you said that you came asking me for help!
L: I don’t like scaring little kids…
H: But they’re the easiest targets!
L: Whatever. This one shouldn’t be hard.
____________________________________________________
F: Ugh. There isn’t even a TV here… Sasha! Make yourself useful and get rid of this trash! I’m getting a new TV set.
S: Ok…
L: What a scum… Hange, let’s allow them to move in.
H: So we can scare him away and let the girl keep the apartment right! She seems interested in this place…
L: Exactly.
H: Great! I already have sooo many plans…
L: Relax. We need to make sure we don’t scare her too or get her in trouble
On the next day, Floch brought a crew to install the new TV he bought.
F: I told her to get rid of this shit… Sorry guys, my dumb girlfriend didn’t do her job yesterday. You can throw those away.
Crew: Ok sir.
L: “Those are Hange’s books…”
Levi grabbed a picture frame and threw it at them.
F: Shit! What the hell was that!
The glass cut one of the crew member’s cheek.
C: Sir! We have to take him to the hospital!
F: You’re not leaving me here with this!
C: I’m sorry sir but he’s bleeding!
Floch sent Sasha a text message.
F: Sasha come back here now! you have work to do, these cowards left me alone here…
_______________________________________________
H: Levi! Thank you!
L: I think I went a bit too far…
H: It’s just a small cut, he’s not even gonna need stitches…
L: If you say so…
H: Hey, I’ve been practicing something, wanna see?
L: As long as you don’t shoot plasma off your mouth again…
H: Come on! That was fun!
L: Not when you’re the one that has to clean it later.

A few days after the incident, Sasha was picking up some books in the living room, and she found one titled “The big fat potato book, 700 recipes for potato lovers.” She started looking through it when a piece of paper fell out. It had something written on it.
Hi Sasha! Thank you for hiding my books instead of throwing them away, some of those I got a long time ago and are very dear for me and Levi. I noticed you like food so I thought you might like this book! Have fun with it! Oh, by the way, don’t worry about Floch. Leave him to us. We’ll take care of him.
-Hange-
Sasha didn’t know if she was scared or relieved.
S: …Hange? Is it someone from Floch’s family? I don’t remember anyone named Levi either... How did they know I was hiding the books? Or maybe it’s my dad’s family? …Maybe I should go back to my dad’s house-
F: Excuse me? Do I hear you planning to leave me?
S: Floch! No! I was just wondering if maybe he had more cooking books-
F: I thought I told you to get rid of those! Why the hell are you bringing more trash!?
S: No… It’s so I can make you better meals…
F: Whatever… I’m too tired for this. I’m taking a nap.
As Floch went to the living room, Hange and Levi started to take action.
L: He’s here.
H: Let’s do it.
Hange began creeping up behind Floch and touched his shoulder.
Tumblr media
F: Stupid old man trying to make me live here…
As soon as he turned around, Hange’s skin started melting, turning into muscle, then into bones.
F: Shit!
Floch started screaming and running towards the main door. Sasha was paralyzed. Still, he didn’t make it far until he saw Levi carrying a big scythe.
L: Going somewhere?
Tumblr media
F: No! Don’t kill me please! Take her!
He pushed Sasha in front of him.
L: I don’t kill good people. Just abusive assholes. But I am merciful, so I’ll let you go if you get out of here and leave her alone.
Floch jumped immediately and ran off. Sasha was still speechless.
H: That was so much fun! Did you like my new trick Levi!
L: It was ok.
H: Awwwe come on!
L: Sasha, are you ok? Sorry you had to witness that…
H: Sasha hi! Did you like the book? You found my note?
S: …I-It was you?
H: Yes! We promise to be less scary if you stay here! I can bring you all the books you want about food!
S: Can I bring my dad here?
H: Sure!
L: Four-eyes, Does this mean we stop scaring people now?
H: Yep, it means we start protecting people now.
L: I’m good with that. Guess it also means I win our bet then.
H: Not at all! I scared way more people than you!
L: Groups count only as one.
H: Hey! We didn’t agree to that!
L: We do now.
S: You guys are a cute couple!
H: Wha- no no, we’re-
L: Yes Sasha. We are.
S: Hange! I thought ghosts couldn’t blush…

ok you said you wanted fluff but...i may or may have gotten carried away. there many or may not also be hurt/comfort in this BSHDJDJD SORRY
word count: 1,454
prompt list can be found here!
prompt 24: “i’m barely touching you!”
spoiler warning for the events of the red banquet for those who haven’t seen it yet!
This wasn’t possible.
He was immortal.
He couldn’t die...
...or so he thought.
Foolish walked through the desert, stepping foot out of his temple for the first time in days. For the first time since the Red Banquet.
...God, he even hated thinking of those two words.
He had already reunited with Puffy, his mother, a day prior. She had shed many tears in front of him, and Foolish wasn’t afraid to admit that he had shed a couple as well.
However, she had approached him. Foolish hadn’t gone anywhere else, he had just stayed inside the temple ever since he...he...no. He couldn’t think about that right now. He couldn’t think about the scar across his neck that was somehow still there. He couldn’t think about how Antfrost had beheaded him and taken his life. He couldn’t think about Puffy’s screams and tears. He couldn’t think about how the egg suppressed him. He couldn’t think about how Eret- Eret.
He had to find Eret.
Foolish wasn’t sure what he wanted to do before he headed out of the temple, but now? Now, he knew for sure. As fast as he could, he ran down the desert path and towards his colossal nether portal. He passed his turtles and his abnormally large cactus, glad to be able to see them again. But that wasn’t his primary focus.
He stepped up the platforms to the nether portal, about to step in, but hesitated. Puffy had told him that everyone had escaped, and that Foolish had been the only sacrifice. But...Eret might have taken that place. It was a lot to think about...was he ready to face it?
Whatever thoughts Foolish had were interrupted by the portal swirling in front of him. Was someone coming through? Who would be coming over here? Foolish stepped aside, not wanting to be crashed into by whoever came through from the nether. He could hear the swirling vortex increase in volume, and after a few moments, someone stumbled out of the portal.
“Fucking ghasts...” A grumble came out of the stranger’s mouth. They wore a ruby red dress that trailed onto the ground as they stepped off of the platform. It was a dress that Foolish had recognized, but it looked different. While it was newer and beautiful the last time he saw that dress, the very bottom of it was now tattered, ripped, and covered in dirt. Part of the bottom of the dress had even caught on fire (from a ghast, Foolish assumed), and the stranger had brought it closer to them to stomp the fire out with their boot.
However, to Foolish, this was no stranger.
“...Eret?”
The monarch turned around, immediately recognizing their friend’s voice. As Foolish stepped down from the portal platform, Eret froze in place, their breaths increasing in speed.
“Eret...hey. Uh...jeez...” There was so much that Foolish wanted to say, but he didn’t know how to form it all into words. He stepped forward, now standing directly in front of Eret and looking at them in the eyes, past their sunglasses.
“F-Foolish, I-“ Eret stuttered, pausing once again. However, something then happened that Foolish knew all too well.
“Ah, wait! Wait, don’t cry! It’s okay!” Foolish instinctively wiped away the few tears that flowed from Eret’s eyes. Just as he had remembered from the old days, their tears were glowing white, and left a small marking on their face that would fade with time.
Their bodies finally met with a hug initiated by Eret. No, not a hug. An embrace. It was a genuine, most-definitely needed embrace.
“I- I’m sorry, I don’t know why I’m crying.” Eret pulled away. “I shouldn’t be crying, I should be happy, happy that you’re alive! I mean, I knew that you would come back, and that you still have two lives, but I didn’t know what was going to happen, a-and-“
“Eret, relax. It’s okay. Everything’s okay. I’m here now. Take some deep breaths.” Foolish reassured his old friend, who was currently going through a tidal wave of emotions. Eret followed the instructions, inhaling and exhaling. After a minute or two, they started to calm down.
“...It’s good to be able to see you again.” The totem god nodded with a smile.
“It’s so good to see you again too, Foolish.” Eret nodded, now smiling as well.
“You’re still wearing that dress, huh?”
Eret looked down at the tattered dress. “Yeah, I haven’t found myself taking it off...ever since...” Foolish knew what words would finish that sentence, and he could tell that neither one of them wanted to be the one to fill in the blank. Eret sighed, looking back up at Foolish. “Sorry, but would it be okay if I hugged you again?”
“Of course, Eret! You don’t even have to ask!” Foolish nodded. This time, however, he was the one to initiate the hug, before Eret got the chance to do so. The monarch held their friend right around the waist, with no plans to let go. However, a sudden feeling in Foolish’s side caused him to retreat with a small yell.
Eret also stepped back a bit, surprised by the disruption. “Is- Is everything okay? I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“What? No, no! You’re fine. You’re just fine, Eret.” Foolish nodded, playing things down. Surely they wouldn’t figure it out, right?”
“...Alright.” With hesitance, Eret wrapped their arms tightly around Foolish again, only for him to suddenly pull away again. He once again let out a yell.
“Are you sure I’m not hurting you? I can stop.” Eret asked nervously.
“No! Like I said, you’re fine.” Foolish nodded.
Questions raced through Eret’s head. Were they hurting him? Was he lying? Why was he smiling a bit? Suddenly, everything clicked together. A lightbulb went off, and they crossed their arms with a smirk.
“Ohhhhh, I think I’ve got it. Foolish, are you ticklish by chance?” They asked.
Damnit, they did figure it out!
“What? Noooooo...” The detectable nervousness of his voice confirmed Eret’s answer. “I’m not! Really, I’m not. You just kinda staHARTled mehe!” His voice raised in pitch as Eret unexpectedly squeezed his side. “Eheheret!”
“Oh, so now you’re lying to me, huh?” Eret raised an eyebrow, then commenced with grabbing both of their wrists with one hand. With their free hand, Eret poked and prodded around Foolish’s torso.
“Wahahait, wahahihit! EhehEHrehet!! I’m sohohory for lying, I’m- SHIHIT!” Foolish’s voice was filled with small snickers as they squirmed around, trying to escape Eret’s grasp.
“I’m barely touching you!” Eret said, amused by this new discovery.
“YeheHEHAh, buhut it tiHIHIckhles!” He giggled, continuing to squirm.
“Well, yeah, that’s kind of the point.” Eret shrugged, switching tactics. They went from poking with one hand to two hands, vibrating their fingers into their underarms to see if they would get a different reaction.
“No. No. NonononOHOHAHAHAHAAA!! EHEHEHEHEREHET!!” Foolish threw his head back, his laughter quick to rise in volume.
“Ah, there we go!” Eret grinned, knowing they had found a better spot to attack. “You’ve got such a nice laugh Foolish, I’m so glad you’re sharing it with me!”
“SHUHUHUTUHUP!” The demigod cackled as he squirmed in Eret’s grasp. When they moved down to squeeze at his hip, he let out a shriek, quickly forcing their hands off and stepping away with a wobbly smile.
“Woah, bad spot, huh?” The monarch laughed at the other’s reaction.
“Gee, I dunno. What do you think, Eret?” Foolish asked with sarcasm in his voice. He sighed, taking a moment to catch his much needed breath. Despite the sudden surprise, it was fun. He couldn’t remember the last time he had some plain fun without the thought of the Eggpire or something else stressful on his mind.
“Well, I think that that was pretty fun.” Eret nodded.
“For you, maybe.” Foolish rolled his eyes with a grin.
“For me, definitely.” They laughed softly before turning back to Foolish. “If you want, we could probably go and visit Puffy. I’m sure she’d enjoy having all three of us together again.”
“Yeah, of course!” He nodded, never to turn down an opportunity to visit his adoptive parent. Suddenly, he had an idea. “I’ll race you!” He said, grabbing Eret’s hand and bringing him towards the nether portal.
“Wha- Foolish! That’s not fair, I’m wearing heeled boots!” Eret said to him while being walked up to the portal.
“And? All is fair in a race through the Nether, old pal!” Foolish laughed, dragging Eret through the portal with him as he stepped through. Eret rolled their eyes, but grinned, knowing the two of them were thinking the same thing.
This was just going to be one of the many new adventures they had together.

Okay so this doesn't exactly fit this prompt but some thoughts of how this could work
Dan is a very powerful Ghost who cannot be held fully by the thermos, though he doesn't have enough power to escape or even influence the situation outside of his prison, he can leech into a dimensional rift, where he hopefully will gather enough power to free himself
well he just happens to arrive in the dc universe and binds himself to a magical artifact, it isn't too strong but in his current incorporeal form this is all he can handle (it also is subtle enough that he can go undetected by whatever forces reside in this universe)
the drakes on one of their expeditions find this and bring it home with them (maybe he sleeps for some years, or sits undisturbed, or maybe he is found directly)
Dan is brought back to Drake manor where he sits and just watches, all the while drawing more of the magic out of the artifact, maybe some surrounding him are magical as well so he could leech them too, everything he sees just keeps his hate/dislike of humanity going (because he doesn't get to see a lot of them), as he becomes stronger he starts to possess the entire house and thus knows what happens in the manor at all times
(he sees tim and how tiny he is, how he stares with big blue eyes at whatever fascinates him and yearns and morns a part of himself that is long since dead, not that he admits this to himself of course, in his mind the child is just one more annoyance in his quest to break free out of the prison)
he keeps to himself and ignores what's going on, ignores how tim sneaks out at night and comes back late in the morning, how he puzzles over how to help a grieving man and starts to come back hurt
he just keeps watching over the years as the kid grows into a teen and does nothing, only taking over more and more of the manor, leeching power out of gothams contaminated air
and then tim's parents get into the accident, and dan is too reminded of how he lost everything, he starts to help tim in small unnoticeable ways, (not wanting to use too much of his power he tells himself), small things that tim chalks up to his own mind just being too scattered to remember doing, like putting a mug besides the boiling water, or even that he turned it on already
when jack comes back it escalates, dan is annoyed by the fact that his peace gets disturbed so much, while tim was always there, he was easily ignorable after some time, and the kid didn't make much noise to begin with
but with jack it's worse, dan can feel himself wanting to lash out at the man, tim is more stressed than ever, trying to hide his secret, trying to please his father, keeping up with school and casework, and never asking for help
Dan's attempts at helping become more and more obvious to Tim, he's stressing about it yes but he also notices how whoever or whatever is doing this is obviously trying to help him (and it's just him, he watched once as his father searched the entire living room for the remote only for the thing to appear on the coffee table as if it had been there the whole time)
So Tim just starts to live with the fact that his house is haunted by a nice spirit
Now like, when Jack dies maybe Tim doesnt move out, or like maybe he takes some things with him and Dan uses that to move with him, maybe later he arrives at Wayne Manor as well when Tim gets adopted, and one day when he has gathered enough power to project a weak form of himself, translucent, not really there gray colored and very much looking like how ghosts look on those "caught a ghost on picture" ones, tim gets to finally meet the person who has been watching over him since he was little
(maybe a certain time ghost had been watching and manipulating events so that Dan would land in that universe at that time in that place, and maybe he decides to talk to danny to send him on a nice vacation for a little bit)
Short DPXDC Prompts #397
Dan Phantom finds out about the treatment of Tim Drake in Drake Manor. Yeah he’s having none of that. Time to force himself into Tim’s life by living in the manor and taking care of him.
Good news: Tim is getting better mentally and physically
Bad news: Tim may have forgotten to tell Bruce or Dick that an insanely tall super powerful ghost is now a resident in Drake Manor.
